Andrew Lloyd Webber Loved Lady Gaga’s Mayhem Ball: ‘World Superstar’

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

It’d be fair to call Andrew Lloyd Webber a Little Monster. On Saturday, the musical theater giant shared a video praising Lady Gaga‘s performance at the O2 Arena in London, calling it a “fabulous” live show, and celebrating a portion of a show reminiscent of Phantom of the Opera.

“I loved the Lady Gaga concert. It was really fabulous. She really knows how to handle an audience. And it was a great evening,” Webber said in a video posted to Instagram. “It was so wonderful, actually, to see somebody really singing live, rather than, as we know, some artists who are really miming to a pre-recorded track. And there was nothing of that.”

Webber celebrated Gaga’s references to opera at large, but also a particular poignant moment in the night when the singer emulates a scene in Phantom, during which she is rowed in a boat onstage while singing “Shallow.”

“I was really, really pleased to see an opera house on stage, and even more pleased to see a boat with her in it being rowed across the big auditorium, that is O2,” Webber said. “It reminded me of something that I might have had a little involvement with.”

He added: “I thought the concert was absolutely fabulous. And I think Lady Gaga is absolutely a world superstar.”

Gaga caught wind of Webber’s acknowledgment on TikTok, leaving a comment under his post, saying, “This is. adream come true.”

Gaga is currently on the European leg of her Mayhem Ball tour, and is scheduled to perform in Stockholm, Milan, and Barcelona through the end of this month. She’ll wrap the run’s first leg in Australia in December, before visiting Japan and returning stateside early next year.

Trending Stories

Rolling Stone lauded Gaga’s tour opener in Las Vegas over the summer, calling her a “fearless storyteller” and describing the run a “legacy-defining” moment in her career.

King Charles has saved the World Conker Championships (WCC).

King Charles has saved the World Conker Championship

Organisers were concerned the contest would be called off after collectors reported a shortage of large, competition-standard horse chestnuts, but they have received a package of more than 300 “really good quality” conkers from Windsor Castle, meaning the 60th anniversary tournament can go ahead.

St John Burkett, a championship committee member, told The Telegraph: “It was a real joy to have conkers sent to us this time.

“The Windsor Castle delivery was of really good quality. They were fantastic, they were the ones that really ensured we could go ahead.”

The package from Windsor Castle had been “picked from the castle grounds and sent via the public relations department”.

St John added: “Intriguingly, we don’t know who picked them, but like to imagine it might have been the King, at least for a few.

“We are extremely grateful, and can already say a conker from Royal Windsor will win the final, as we have reserved them to be used in the finals.”

Conkers have also been imported from France and Italy for the competition.

Organiser Charles Whalley said: “We’ve just had conkers from everywhere. It’s been quite extraordinary.

“It just sort of sums up the love for the championships. We’ve had them from all over Europe, Italy and France.

“We’ve just had so many emails from people offering conkers, saying plenty here, come and get them, or we can send them to you.

“With the support from Europe and what’s left in the trees at the moment, we are delighted to say that all is good.”

The annual World Conker Championships (WCC) will be held on Sunday (12.10.25) in Southwick, Northamptonshire and it is expected to have attract around 2,000 spectators.

Last year’s competition was embroiled in controversy after men’s winner David Jakins – who has taken part since 1977 – was accused of swapping his conker for a metal one.

He denied the claims and was cleared of cheating following an investigation, which ruled he had “achieved his title fairly”.

The traditional game sees a horse chestnut threaded onto a piece of string with pairs of contestants taking it in turn to strike each other’s conker until one breaks.

‘The world is so hard on girls’

Gigi Hadid says the world is “so hard on girls”.

Gigi Hadid says the world is ‘so hard on girls’

The model, 30, made the declaration while reflecting on her first appearance in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, adding she feels “so happy” to return to the runway a decade later and feels proud of how far she and the fashion industry have come.

She spoke in a new video shared by the lingerie brand on Friday (10.10.25), while announcing she would rejoin the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show this year.

In the clip, Gigi looks back on landing her debut in 2015 after several failed auditions.

She said: “I think I tried out two or three times before I got it, so you can imagine how I felt when I got my first show.”

Becoming emotional, she added about looking back on her younger self: “I’m just so happy for her. She just wanted it so bad… I look back at pictures of that time and the world was so hard on her, and not just me, it’s hard on girls.”

She continued: “And then you look back at pictures and you’re like, ‘I was the s***’.

“That was an awesome time. I deserved to be there. I continue to come back to this show just so happy for that girl that got the first show and then also my teenage self who just watched the show.”

She said the Victoria’s Secret runway “still makes my heart beat really fast”, adding: “I feel the responsibility of doing the best I can for the huge team that’s behind this show.”

Gigi’s first Victoria’s Secret appearance in 2015 marked a turning point in her career.

At the time, she had spoken publicly about the scrutiny she faced over her body during fashion week and her debut with the lingerie brand.

In a 2015 Instagram post, she wrote: “No, I don’t have the same body type as other models in shows. No, I don’t think I’m the best at any given shows. Yes, I want to have a unique walk but I also know I have to improve. No, I’m not the first or the last model of my type in this industry.”

She continued: “You can make up all the reasons you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker that’s confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for a change.”

Gigi added while her body type “wasn’t accepted in high fashion before” the industry could “never stay the same”.

She said online: “Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment.

“Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body, they don’t make me want to say no to designers that ask me to be in their shows, and they definitely don’t change the designers’ opinions of me.”

Gigi also urged critics to “at least be open if not part of the change”, which she said was “undeniably happening.”

Since her debut, Gigi has appeared in multiple editions of the Secrets show – walking again in 2016 and 2018, the latter alongside her sister Bella Hadid.

The model also took part in the brand’s revived 2024 show, opening the event in a pink belted silk one-piece, matching wings and diamond hoop earrings.

Bob Vylan call out Keir Starmer and “BBC’s lies” on defiant new single ‘Sick Sad World’

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Bob Vylan have released a first new single, ‘Sick Sad World’, taking aim at Keir Starmer and the “BBC’s lies”.

  • READ MORE: Bob Vylan: “We’ve been screaming about these topics at the top of our lungs for years. Why has it taken this long?”

The track is the duo’s first release since last year’s album ‘Humble As The Sun’, but it’s also the first song they’ve put out since their controversial Glastonbury 2025 performance, in which vocalist Bobby Vylan lead the crowd in chants of “death, death to the IDF [Israel Defence Forces]”.

The upbeat punk track sees the duo zero in on the state of the nation in 2025. “Keir’s smiling on the news, as if everything is fine/There’s a major malfunction, how’s this whole thing wired?/I got some priors on my name, they said I can’t get hired/I watch the BBC’s liеs, think I’m losing my mind/Hooray, it’s 2025, get a job in the mines,” Vylan raps.

“As many of you are aware, we have been busy recently but we never forgot about the music,” the band wrote on Instagram. “You can support Bob Vylan directly by purchasing the track on Bandcamp (link in bio). Enjoy, and much love, The Bobs. And don’t forget, tour starts in 3 weeks.”

Check out ‘Sick Sad World’ below:

In response to the Glastonbury controversy, the band clarified that they are “not for the death of Jews or Arabs or any other race or group”. In a statement, Glastonbury organisers said they were “appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan”.

As well as being dropped by their agency, Bob Vylan have had their US visas revoked and are currently under criminal investigation over the performance. They were also removed from their headline spot at Manchester’s Radar Festival in July after pressure from venue owners AMG and Live Nation and more bands dropped out in solidarity.

In other Bob Vylan news, an upcoming gig in the Netherlands was cancelled earlier this month after frontman Bobby Vylan was accused of celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The band are set to head out on tour soon – check out the full list of dates here, and get tickets here. However, following the  the Manchester synagogue attack last week, MPs and Jewish groups have called for their show at Manchester Academy to be cancelled.

World Mental Health Day 2025: Psychologist suggests 5 creative ways Gen Z can manage stress

World Mental Health Day 2025: Gen Z can shake off stress with the help of creativity, from doing spontaneous activities to opening up through art.

World Mental Health Day 2025: October 10 is observed as World Mental Health Day. On this day, awareness related to mental wellness is encouraged, aiming to promote open conversations about emotional wellbeing. In recognition of this day, let’s take a closer look at one of the vulnerable groups, Gen Z, who may be silently struggling with emotional stress.

Shruti Padhye, senior psychologist at Mpower, Aditya Birla Education Trust, agreed that yes, Gen Z nowadays carries the weight of multiple pressures. She told HT Lifestyle that the world is more volatile with a multitude of issues like academic pressure, social media information overload, economic changes and identity development. With so much going on, Gen Z barely gets a moment of ‘time out.’

Amid the constant buzz of life with a whirlwind of demands and pressure, how can Gen Z carve out a moment of respite? A much-needed time out from the relentless pace of life? Shruti recommended tapping into creativity as a way to combat stress.

“As a mental health professional with over 7 years of experience, I find that youth-led initiatives can promote deep engagement and creativity with young people and their emotions. These activities can create safe corners for emotional expression, which provide connectedness with self and others, meaningful in and of themselves,” the psychologist explained.

Often, life can get isolating amid all the hustle. Particularly for Gen Z, who are right at the cusp of building their careers, may let the stress pile up and leave them feeling cut off. This is where creativity and the sense of unity can act as an outlet to release stress.

Shruti suggested these 5 creative ways Gen Z can unload stress and feel energised emotionally:

1. Drama therapy

  • Role-play and improvisation enable Gen Z to illustrate emotions; words may be tough to express.
  • “Putting down the mask” allows them to explore identity, address fears, and rehearse coping mechanisms in a safe space

2. Slam poetry

  • Raw, unfiltered poetry addresses the unexpressed truths we hold.
  • Slam poetry, verbal or on paper, advocates emotional authenticity and dismantles the shame surrounding mental health concerns such as anxiety, grief, or self-worth

3. Ad film making

  • The film-making process- developing a screenplay, shooting a video, and editing nurtures creativity, while allowing Gen Z to move outside of their online persona.
  • Making a film as a group encourages co-creation, empathy, and emotional connection.

4. Abstract art

  • Exploring texture, colour, and form to display what it feels like to be trapped in the chaos of the mind can be deeply healing.
  • Abstract art gives therapy a non-verbal, emotional display before understanding what those emotions mean

5. Extempore expression

Extempore expression is any performance that is spontaneous and done in front of friends, from a singing performance to an impromptu ventriloquist act. (Picture credit: Freepik)

  • Verbal expression on a personal topic allows authenticity yet forces clarity of emotional content.
  • The experience of practising vulnerability around peers builds confidence in Gen Z voices and perspectives

So, here’s what I’ve learned: The FIFA World Cup 26TM is a really big deal, because not only will it be the largest, with 48 participating teams, but it’s heading stateside. For the first time ever, the World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. That means, over the course of a month (from June 11 to July 19, 2026), the tournament will span North America, kicking off in Mexico City, with matches being played in major cities, like Los Angeles, Miami, and Toronto, before culminating in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
