It is inarguably the best time to be a K-drama fan. Between chart-topping romantic dramas to gripping thrillers, there’s no dearth of entertaining Korean shows out there. Amidst the slew of titles coming in, we won’t blame you for missing out on a few gems every now and then. After all, how do you pick between Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee’s return to fighting evil in Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 and Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon’s unbearable cuteness in Lovely Runner? Luckily for us, we can always use the Diwali 2025 holiday weekend for some good old binge-watching. Bonus points if you add some laddus and chaklis to your catch-up sessions to make it festive.

Nobody, I repeat, nobody represents the modern girlboss like Shin Min A’s Son Hae Young. The romantic comedy No Gain, No Love sees the actress play a woman who hates losing out. She grew up thinking her mother prioritised the kids in their foster home over her and she carries that sense of missing out into her professional life. When she realises that married employees have better benefits in her company, she decides to fake a marriage in order to get ahead. However, do not be fooled by the comical plot. The show has some gut-wrenchingly emotional moments, and themes of loneliness and loss. Get ready to swoon over the romance and ugly cry within the span of the same episode.

Lovely Runner

Cast: Byeon Woo Seok, Kim Hye Yoon, Song Geon Hee, Lee Seung Hyub

Most K-drama fans did not expect Lovely Runner to turn into the success story it became. After several setbacks, the series arrived and climbed onto the No.1 spot on the charts within its premiere week. The show follows a K-pop fan who embarks on a quest to save her bias from his untimely death. The timeslip drama sees her go back to his high school days and decipher the truth behind his demise. But we wouldn’t get too caught up in the rules of time travel because very early on in the show, the narrative makes way for a heartfelt coming-of-age plot. Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok’s chemistry is top-notch and the warm, nostalgic setting only makes it better.

Gyeongseong Creature Season 2

Cast: Park Seo Joon, Han So Hee, Wi Ha Joon, Claudia Kim

After the first season ended on a cliffhanger, Gyeongseong Creature returned for a second season. The show takes a time jump from 1945 Gyeongseong to 2024 Seoul. In the present day, Yoon Chae Ok, a survivor of the Spring of 1945 runs into Ho Jae, a man who looks exactly like Jang Tae Sang. The two go up against fresh horrors in a past-meets-present tale of destiny. While the show has its roots in the horror genre, the narrative includes politics, action and some thrilling subplots to make it an entertaining watch.

Marry My Husband

Cast: Park Min Young, Na In Woo, Lee Yi Kyung, Song Ha Yoon, Lee Gi Kwang

We like to believe that What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim? star Park Min Young can do no wrong. And we’re almost always right. In the thoroughly entertaining Marry My Husband, the actress plays a woman who is diagnosed with cancer and discovers that her husband is cheating on her. Instead of dying, she finds herself transported 10 years into the past. She then goes on to get revenge along with her boss. The show has some great moments and some moments that fans of the original webtoon might find faults with. That being said, it remains an unmissable watch that’s worth your time.

Love Next Door

Cast: Jung Hae In, Jung So Min, Kim Ji Eun, Yoon Ji On

There’s something endlessly endearing about watching childhood friends (or rivals) reunite in K-dramas. Love Next Door sees Jung Hae In and Jung So Min as the aforementioned childhood friends. The show revolves around a woman who leaves her seemingly perfect life abroad and returns to her hometown. Back home, her family will soon find out that she has quit her job and ended her engagement. Reuniting with her friend, now a successful architect, she sets out on a path of rediscovery. The leads’ easy chemistry when they’re fighting and bantering is palpable. And if you ask us, it carries the whole show.

Spice Up Our Love

Cast: Han Ji Hyun, Lee Sang Yi, Lee Yoo Jin

If you couldn’t get enough of the supporting cast of No Gain, No Love, you’re in luck because the show has a spin-off. It follows a web novel writer who transforms into Seo Yeon Seo, a nutritionist who gets swept up in a swoon-worthy romance with Kang Ha Joon, a CEO. Between the meta moments and the fun romantic track, the show is a fun-filled ride. Spice Up Our Love is fan service at best and the makers know it.

The Judge From Hell

Cast: Jae Young Kim, Park Shin Hye, Kyu Han Lee, Kim Ah Young

If you’re missing legal K-dramas, you might want to check out The Judge From Hell. The show serves up loads of courtroom drama along with some fantasy elements and solid character arcs. The show revolves around Kang Bit Na, a skilful judge with a dark secret – she isn’t human. She’s a demon tasked with bringing justice to the worst criminals and sending them to hell. Her mission is interrupted when she meets a detective and their stories get intertwined.

Family By Choice

Cast: Hwang In Youp, Jung Chae Yeon, Bae Hyun Sung, Choi Won Young

Shows about found families will always be special. This one follows three friends who grew up together and developed a song bond. When they reunite years after high school, their past connections resurface. Amidst society’s judgement, they form an unconventional family unit as they decide to live together. The highlight? The whole plot is set against the backdrop of a charming beach town. Need we say more?

Seoul Busters

Cast: Lee Seung Woo, Kim Dong Wook, Park Se Wan, Park Ji Hwan

Seoul Busters is a rare comedic gem amidst all the rom-coms and thrillers. The show is an old-school comedy about oddball detectives from an underperforming precinct. Fed up with their incompetence, their boss moves them to a new office which doubles up as a play school for kids. Here they’re joined by the most accomplished detective in the country who in his quest for perfection wants to help them become the best police unit. The slapstick comedy and the loveable characters make this a light-hearted watch.

Queen Woo

Cast: Jeon Jong Seo, Ji Chang Wook, Jeong Yu Mi, Lee Soo Hyuk

Any K-drama list is incomplete without a historical drama. Queen Woo follows the story of the Empress of Goguryeo. Upon her husband and King’s death, she becomes the target of princes and surrounding kingdoms amidst a succession war. However, Woo Hee isn’t one to back down from a fight. If you love watching historical war dramas and women in action, this one’s for you.

The anticipation is sky-high for this week’s Weekend Ka Vaar on Bigg Boss 19, as viewers are eagerly waiting for Salman Khan to address the housemates’ explosive behaviour—especially Malti Chahar’s controversial comment targeting Nehal Chudasama.

In a recently released promo, Salman Khan is seen confronting Malti for her insensitive remark. The issue began earlier this week during an argument over suji halwa, where Malti told Nehal, “Next time kapde pehen ke baat karna” (Talk to me next time with your clothes on). Nehal, who was fully dressed, was visibly offended and lashed out at Malti.

In the promo, Salman questions Malti about her statement. Attempting to explain, she said the room temperature was too cold and she merely suggested Nehal wear more clothes. However, her justification didn’t sit well with Salman or the rest of the house. Visibly unimpressed, Salman asked the housemates, “Kitno ko lagta hai ki ye ekdum bakwas tha?” (How many of you think this was total nonsense?), prompting unanimous agreement.

Salman didn’t hold back, saying, “Kuch bolne ke baad, maidaan chor ke bhaag jaati ho. Dose de rahi ho toh return dose lena bhi seekho” (You run away after making hurtful comments. If you can attack, learn to take one too).

The comment had earlier sparked a house-wide outrage. Baseer and Kunickaa stood up for Nehal, with Baseer shouting, “Are you from a little cottage in Agra? I’ll throw you out of this house!” Despite the backlash, Malti was later seen laughing with Tanya, which further angered Kunickaa.

As tensions rise, fans are eagerly waiting for the full Weekend Ka Vaar episode to see how Salman’s scolding will impact the house dynamics.

Marcello Hernandez Revives The Movie Guy For ‘SNL’s Weekend Update

In a night of reprisals for Marcello Hernandez, the repertory Saturday Night Live player brought back his Weekend Update character The Movie Guy — a cinephile with a wan viewing history.

Brought on by co-anchor Colin Jost to talk about spooky movie season, Hernandez was first asked about Blumhouse’s recent box office win, Black Phone 2.

“Oh, yeah, Black Phone 2. Ring, ring! Hello? Sorry, you have the wrong number, because I have not seen that one yet,” he quipped.

When Jost segued to the biggest genre film of the year, Hernandez’s persona once again disappointed: “Oh, yeah, Weapons. That was a very big movie, Colin. Everybody saw Weapons. And I have to tell you: I was not one of those people.”

Continuing the bit, Hernandez joked, “I love scary movies because, in the title, they tell you what gonna happen. Like Scream — everybody Scream. Smile — everybody smile! And Saw — everybody saw, except me. I did not see Saw.”

Singling out a true scary movie as “the one with Michael Myers,” Hernandez was not, in fact, referencing the classic Halloween, but rather Shrek, which is about “every man’s biggest fear. You going to sleep with a beautiful woman, and then you waking up and go, ‘How drunk was I last night?’ You know what I’m talking about, Colin.”

In a rapid fire segment, Jost asked if he’d seen I Know What You Did Last Summer.

“OK, what did I do?” Hernandez responded.

What about It? “Uh, I did not see that,” he said.

But the kicker came when Jost questioned if The Movie Guy had seen the lauded Sigourney Weaver-starring sci-fi thriller Alien. “No, Colin, I am an American citizen,” he responded to big audience laughs.

Elsewhere on Weekend Update, newcomer Tommy Brennan made his debut, similar to (since-departed cast member) Emil Wakim’s stand-up introduction on SNL last year. During his brief time, the self-deprecating Brennan joked about his Midwestern roots, being one of eight kids and his recent adjustment to New York City.

And though the Cold Open eschewed political commentary, Jost and co-anchor Michael Che delved into this week’s news, joking about the release of disgraced GOP representative George Santos, the debate between NYC mayoral candidates Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani and POTUS Donald Trump’s recent musings about not getting into heaven.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan faced a lot of heat for his hosting in the last Weekend Ka Vaar, with many calling him biased towards Amaal Mallik. Some even suggested he should retire from hosting Bigg Boss. However, this Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman made a spectacular comeback, returning in his fun, bold, sarcastic, and fierce avatar, not just for the contestants, but also for his haters.

Tina Fey, Seth Meyers Make Weekend Update Cameo With Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler served as a brief guest anchor on Saturday Night Live‘s “Weekend Update,” and she was joined by two familiar faces — and that’s not including Colin Jost and Michael Che.

After making a surprise cameo during the cold open, Tina Fey made a second appearance during the infamous SNL bit. But that’s not all: they were also joined by fellow alumni Seth Meyers.

The segment kicked off with Poehler criticizing one of Jost’s jokes, to which they decided to settle their beef with “a good old fashioned ‘Weekend Update’ joke off.” The crowd then erupted in applause as Fey and Meyers entered the shot.

“Oh, did somebody say ‘Weekend Update’ joke off?” Fey asked. The Good Hang podcast host quickly introduced the two, noting, “My first wife and second wife, everybody!”

Jost then went on to set up the joke, saying, “A woman in Tennessee broke a hospital record after giving birth to a 13 pound baby, and go!”

Poehler replied with her own shot at creating the best joke, noting, “A woman gave birth to a 13 pound baby which was so big he slapped the doctor on his ass.” Fey then took her shot, saying, “A woman gave birth to a 13 pound baby, and the new baby’s name is Ahhhhh!”

Meyers continued the joke off: “A woman gave birth to a 13 pound baby, damn, did she give birth to it, or did it drive out?” They traded several jokes with Jost and Che, until Poehler affirmed, “We won!”

Poehler, Fey and Meyers’ spent years working on SNL amongst one another. As a trio, they served five years together as cast members on the show. The Mean Girls star exited the series in 2006, leaving Poehler and the Late Night host with two additional years together before Poehler left in 2008.

Poehler returned to SNL for her third time as host on Saturday night, where she was joined by musical guest Role Model. He even brought out his own special cameo in Grammy Award-winner Charli XCX.

Earlier in the night, Poehler and Fey portrayed Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem, respectively, in the cold open.

The Parks and Recreation star utilized her opening monologue to commemorate the official 50th anniversary of SNL, noting that the first episode of the show debuted exactly 50 years on Oct. 11, 1975. However, she also took time to criticize AI actress Tilly Norwood who made headlines after her studio revealed they were searching for her own representation.

“I remember watching the show in the ’70s, sitting in my house in Burlington, Massachusetts thinking, ‘I wanna be an actress someday, at least until they invent an AI actress who’s funnier and willing to do full frontal,’” Poehler said.

She later added, “I know it can feel like times are very tough right now, and in some ways they always have been and they always will be, so I’ll just say this — if there’s a place that feels like home that you can go back to and laugh with your friends, consider yourself lucky, and I do. And to that little AI robot watching TV right now who wants to be on this stage someday, I say to you, ‘Beep boop beep boop.’ Which translates to, ‘You’ll never be able to write a joke, you stupid robot.’”

Bigg Boss 19’s much-anticipated Weekend Ka Vaar is set to air tonight, and the latest promo promises some intense confrontations. Salman Khan, the show’s host, is seen schooling contestant Neelam Giri over her behavior during the week — particularly her refusal to cook for the house after a task-related remark by co-contestant Gaurav Khanna.

For context, during a recent task, Gaurav was asked to point out five negative traits about Neelam. He mentioned that all she does is cook and make tea. Though he later clarified that his statements were part of the task’s requirements, Neelam took offense and decided to stop cooking altogether — a move that didn’t sit well with the rest of the house.

In the promo, Salman confronts Neelam, asking her, “Playground wale task mein karna kya tha?” (What were you supposed to do in the Playground task?) Neelam responded, “Bura bura bolna tha.” (We had to say bad things.) Salman then questioned her reaction: “Toh Gaurav ne kya galat kiya jiska gussa aapne pure ghar par nikaala?” (So what did Gaurav do wrong that made you take it out on the entire house?)

Neelam explained that she simply didn’t feel like cooking after that. However, Salman wasn’t convinced. He criticized her for not expressing her opinions clearly and labeled her a weak competitor. “Iss ghar mein aapka opinion saamne aata hi nahi. Aap ek aisi weak competitor ho, ki kisi ko aapse khatra hi nahi hai,” he said.

It was old home week on SNL‘s Weekend Update desk as Amy Poehler was joined by Tina Fey and Seth Meyers to trade yuks with Colin Jost and Michael Che.

In the joke-off, everyone had to find new, knee-slapping ways to make fun of a real-life headline about a Tennessee woman who broke a hospital record by giving birth to a 13 pound baby. Poehler started the competition by saying how the baby was so big, “he slapped the doctor on his ass.”

Fey followed with “a woman gave birth to a 13 pound baby and and the new baby’s name is AHHHHH.” Meyers picked up the baton by joking, “a woman gave birth to a 13 pound baby. Damn, did she give birth to it? Or did it drive out?”

It was Che’s turn next. “Here’s a fun fact. The second the baby was out, the woman zipped around the room like a deflated balloon.” Fey followed up with, “a woman in Tennessee gave birth to a 13 pound baby because it’s Tennessee and the baby was also pregnant.”

Another highlight from the jam-packed session behind the Update desk was Che making an AI joke at the expense of Jost. He talked about the infamous Sora app and how it allows “users to create cameos of themselves in videos, and they’re pretty realistic. I mean, I made this one before the show.”

Replied Jost, “really excited for that to be out there.”

As host of this week’s SNL, Amy Poehler couldn’t resist returning to her old Weekend Update desk, where she reunited with her former co-anchors Tina Fey and Seth Meyers. The trio made a surprise appearance to challenge current anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che to a “Joke Off,” a rapid-fire punchline battle inspired by a recent news story about a Tennessee woman who broke a record by giving birth to a 13-pound baby.

Earlier in the episode, Poehler and Fey played Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem during SNL’s cold open.
