Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show to return this week after controversial suspension

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Kimmel Live will return to the air this week, following its controversial suspension due to comments relating to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Last week, it was announced that the late night host’s show had been pulled from the ABC Network, which is owned by Disney, over Kimmel’s comments following the killing of the right-wing activist.

Kirk was shot in the neck and killed at Utah Valley University campus on September 10, and, following the incident, Kimmel said that all signs pointed to Kirk’s shooter being a Trump supporter.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterise this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said in his Monday night monologue.

The subsequent fallout saw the show taken off-air indefinitely, a move that sparked a strong response from either side of the political spectrum. President Donald Trump celebrated the decision, while most of Hollywood’s labour unions reacted to the decision with anger and protest.

On Monday (September 22), the Walt Disney Company said in a statement: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.

“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Reports had emerged in recent days that Kimmel’s business and legal representatives were in discussions with Disney and ABC executives in the hope of reaching a compromise.

Among those to speak out against the suspension were talk show legends Stephen Colbert and David Letterman, citing concerns relating to free speech, as well as comedian and podcaster Marc Maron, who called it “government censorship”, Olivia Rodrigo, who labelled it “blatant censorship”, and Pedro Pascal, who stressed the importance of free speech and democracy.

Over the weekend, John Cleese and Piers Morgan clashed over the cancellation after Morgan questioned Kimmel being “heralded as some kind of free speech martyr”.

The topic worked itself into Trump’s speech at Kirk’s memorial on Sunday (September 21), where he once again took aim at his political opponents on the “radical left” and addressed the backlash about Kimmel’s show being axed.

“The same commentators who this week are screaming fascism over a cancelled late-night TV show, where the anchor had no talent and no ratings, last week were implying that Charlie Kirk deserved what happened to him,” he said.

For the last several days, London Fashion Week has been offering seriously good collections for the spring/summer 2026 season, but our eyes have been on the cobblestone streets. Outside of shows for the likes of Simone Rocha, Erdem, Emilia Wickstead, and Harris Reed, attendees strutted in their own runway-worthy outfits.

Oasis Live ’25 fan store to reopen in London this week ahead of Wembley return

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Oasis‘ official Live ’25 fan store is reopening in London this week, ahead of the band’s return to Wembley Stadium. Find all the details below.

The Britpop group will play two more concerts in the capital this Saturday and Sunday (September 27, 28). It’ll follow an initial five-night run at Wembley over the summer as part of their UK and Ireland comeback tour.

An official pop-up store was launched on Carnaby Street to mark Oasis’ first reunion gigs in London. Now, it has been confirmed that a new shop is opening under the Piccadilly Lights near Regent Street.

Fans will be able to visit the pop-up between 10am and 10pm BST this Friday to Saturday (September 26, 27), and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday (28). Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-booking a slot is advised – you can do so here.

Customers will be able to purchase a range of official Live ’25 clothing – including T-shirts, hoodies, jackets – as well as tour edition coloured vinyl formats of the Oasis back catalogue.

The store is also set to stock items from the Adidas Originals x Oasis collaborations and more.

Oasis wrapped up the North American leg of their Live ’25 tour with two massive shows in Mexico City earlier this month. Their pair of Wembley gigs this week will be followed by further dates in South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

The band have released some official live versions of songs from different cities on the trek. So far we’ve had ‘Slide Away’ from Cardiff, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from Manchester, ‘Little By Little’ from London, ‘Bring It On Down’ from Edinburgh and ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin.

In other news, Liam and Noel Gallagher have been gifted personalised football shirts from Polish club Lech Poznań – a nod to the viral moment at the start of ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ in their Live ’25 set.

When sharing his thanks for the gesture, Noel said that fans doing ‘the Poznań’ had been “THE highlight” of Oasis‘ reunion shows, with gig-goers from “all over the world” getting involved.

The likes of Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish and Dave Grohl were spotted at Oasis’ recent gigs in Los Angeles, as was Melissa Lim – the woman who inspired the band’s 1995 track ‘Talk Tonight’.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher has paid tribute to the “great Mancunian” Ricky Hatton, revealing that he had been texting him just days before his death.

‘Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver Calls Out FCC Over Kimmel

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Following his big night at last weekend’s 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, where he won Outstanding Scripted Variety Series and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series, John Oliver had his work cut out for him on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight.

The comedian pulled no punches as he called out Nexstar and Sinclair, claiming they had to get Brendan Carr‘s “dick out of their mouth” to carry out the apparent FCC-sanctioned campaign against Jimmy Kimmel.

“We were off last week, and a lot happened since our last show,” said Oliver in his monologue before launching into the recap, including Trump’s royal visit to the U.K., where protesters projected a photo of the POTUS with Jeffrey Epstein on the side of Windsor Castle.

“That does make me genuinely proud of the country I’m worried I’m gonna be deported to after this show airs,” he continued. “because we’re gonna dive straight in with our main story tonight.”

Catching his audience up on Disney‘s announcement that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be “preempted indefinitely.” The suspension has been criticized by many as an attack on free speech, following the FCC’s warning about his Charlie Kirk comments.

As Nexstar attempts to double its size by acquiring competitor Tegna, Oliver explained, “The point is, Nexstar badly needs FCC approval, so it is hardly surprising that when Carr specifically said companies should pull Kimmel off the air or face consequences, it quickly complied.

“Basically, Brendan Carr said ‘jump,’ and Nexstar took his dick out of their mouth for just long enough to say, ‘How high, exactly?’” added Oliver, noting that Sinclair then followed suit, while also pursuing merger options that require FCC approval.

“The sequence of events here could not be clearer, because it was all done in plain view,” Oliver explained. “Carr leaned on broadcasters to take down Kimmel. They did that, sometimes even directly citing Carr while doing so, and then Carr celebrated with a fun GIF. That sure seems like a pretty clear case of the government pressuring companies to censor speech. And it’s not like Trump is even trying to hide it.”

Oliver then pointed out that he should be safe at HBO as it isn’t on broadcast and therefore, “much less susceptible to pressure from the FCC,” adding: “That is obviously very good new for us, and I really don’t see why that situation should change anytime soon.”

The comedian then played clips of news coverage about Paramount‘s potential bid for Warner Bros., launching into an expletive-laden rant.

Known for his ‘Prove Me Wrong’ debates and MAGA POV, activist Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 in a tragedy that has sent shock through the political and media worlds.

Having previously mocked Trump over POTUS’ take on the NFL and TikTok, Kimmel offered his blunt assessment of the aftermath of Kirk’s death in his opening monologue on his Sept. 15 show: “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

Your Horoscope This Week: September 21 To 27

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

On September 22nd, just a few hours before the sun enters Libra and the Equinox resets the cosmic scale, Mars enters Scorpio, one of the signs it rules. This transit is potent. It sets the tone for the next six weeks of laser-focused transformation. Mars in Libra was about appearances, partnerships, compromise. Mars in Scorpio is about penetrating truth, radical courage, and relentless clarity. The kind of clarity that makes you leave the job, speak up in the boardroom, end the relationship, report the injustice, expose the system. It’s the energy of the activist, the investigative journalist, the shadow-worker, the whistleblower. The Phoenix rising from the rubble, eyes locked on what needs to be rebuilt.

The Best COS Checked Styles Took Over New York Fashion Week

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Autumn has arrived and with it comes a shift in the fashion mood. The light, playful motifs of summer—polka dots, florals, lace—are giving way to things that are more serious and more grounded. On the high street, one pattern is cutting through the noise: checks. Never too far away from the zeitgeist, the classic print has been reimagined into something a little less traditional for AW25. True to form, COS is delivering some of the best interpretations of the season.

A guest wears the COS Alpaca Jumper teamed with grey trousers and a yellow crossbody bag.

That much was clear at the brand’s fashion show last weekend. Amidst the expensive-looking knitwear, elegantly cut coats and polished accessories, all of COS’s It items had one unifying theme: they were checked. On the streets of New York, guests arrived in head-to-toe COS, and almost every outfit hinged on the pattern—whether it was the Draped Checked Skirt styled with elevated shirting, or the Merino Wool Jacket worn with its coordinating micro-check skirt, which nodded to the year’s ongoing obsession with preppy style. Even the humble Checked Flannel Shirt, available in classic beige or statement blue and black, was spotted repeatedly, cementing its place as a new-season essential.

And if you were wondering how to actually wear the check trend, the street style gave us the answers. Tamu McPherson took a maximalist approach, pairing her checked shirt with the draped checked skirt, finished with loafers and a woven bag. Marilyn NK kept things pared back, letting her checked skirt shine against a simple shirt, while Jihoon Kim styled her checked jacket and mini skirt together, channelling peak Clueless energy. The best part? Unlike many fashion week outfits, these looks aren’t out of reach. In fact, you can shop the exact pieces now, proving that COS’s new-season checks are as wearable as they are covetable.

All the Best Looks We Saw at New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2026

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Glasses on a string! Trish Wescoat Pound’s spring collection seemingly found its muse in an updated Nancy Meyers protagonist: unfussy separates and laid-back accessories styled with gardening hats and Birkenstock Arizona sandals. I’ve seen this movie, and I want in.

“I’m so excited to see Rachel Scott begin to make her mark at Proenza Schouler,” says Madden. “I’ve loved her brand Diotima for years, and this is the first taste of how she’s bringing her point of view into the codes of such a classic and beloved New York label.”

Khaite

Khaite’s spring show cemented a lot of needs on my current wish list, including leather bombers, dark-wash jeans, and polka dots. But this look pushed me the furthest into the unexpected—why, yes, I do want embroidered flowers, burgundy trousers, and gigantic belt buckles for the month ahead, now that you mention it. Sold.
