Farhan Akhtar and Raashii Khanna are set to visit the city of Jodhpur for an emotional tribute on the day of the trailer launch of their upcoming war drama, 120 Bahadur. The film, based on the valour of the real-life heroes of the 1962 Battle of Rezang La, has already set expectations high for its stirring portrayal of India’s armed forces.

Farhan Akhtar, Raashii Khanna To Launch 120 Bahadur Trailer In Jodhpur

The Jodhpur visit holds special significance, as the two will be paying homage at the memorial of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC — the war hero whose courage inspired generations. During their visit, Farhan Akhtar and Raashii Khanna will also be meeting Major Shaitan Singh Bhati’s son, Narpat Singh Ji, and the family, showing the trailer first to them before the trailer is unveiled to the world.

In the film, Farhan Akhtar essays the role of Major Shaitan Singh, while Raashii Khanna appears in a significant special role — marking a meaningful on-screen reunion for the two. The choice of Jodhpur, a city steeped in military pride and royal heritage, reflects the gravity of the story the film seeks to tell.

As per a source close to the film, “Farhan Akhtar and Raashii Khanna will be visiting Jodhpur on the day of the trailer launch to pay homage at the memorial of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC. The visit is being planned as a heartfelt tribute to Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, and the spirit of valour and sacrifice that 120 Bahadur celebrates. During their visit, Farhan and Raashii will also meet Major Shaitan Singh Bhati’s son, Narpat Singh Ji, and the family, before unveiling the trailer to the world.”

Grateful Dead Pay Tribute to Donna Jean Godchaux

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

The Grateful Dead have paid tribute to longtime collaborator Donna Jean Godchaux, following news of her death at age 78.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Donna Jean Godchaux,” the band shared in a statement posted to social media. “Her unmistakable voice and radiant spirit touched the lives of countless fans and immeasurably enriched the Grateful Dead family. Her contributions will forever remain part of the tapestry that continues to be woven.”

Godchaux passed away on Sunday (Nov. 2) at a hospice facility in Tennessee following a prolonged battle with cancer, according to her longtime publicist Dennis McNally. “She was a sweet and warmly beautiful spirit, and all those who knew her are united in loss,” McNally said. “In the words of Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, ‘May the four winds blow her safely home.’”

Godchaux joined the Grateful Dead in 1971 alongside her husband, keyboardist Keith Godchaux, becoming a key part of the band’s 1970s sound during a transformative creative period. She sang on several of the group’s most enduring studio albums — including Europe ’72, Wake of the Flood, and Terrapin Station — and appeared on many now-iconic live recordings, including the legendary Cornell ’77 show and the Dead’s 1978 concerts at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

In addition to her work with the Dead, Godchaux had an accomplished background as a session vocalist, performing on classic hits such as Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds” and “In the Ghetto,” as well as Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman.” Her credits also included work with Cher, Neil Diamond, Boz Scaggs and Duane Allman.

After departing the Grateful Dead in 1979, the Godchauxs formed the Heart of Gold Band, which was cut short by Keith’s tragic death in a car accident the following year. Donna Jean Godchaux returned to music in the 1980s and continued recording and performing through the 2010s, including with the Donna Jean Godchaux Band and on her final album Back Around (2014).

Godchaux’s passing comes just over a year after the death of founding Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh in October 2024. The remaining members of the extended Dead universe — including Bob Weir and Mickey Hart — have continued to perform with Dead & Company, who celebrated the band’s 60th anniversary with a three-night run at San Francisco’s Oracle Park earlier this year.

The state capital hosted various events to commemorate the legacy of Mallika-e-Ghazal Begum Akhtar. Marking her death anniversary on October 30, 1974, Padma Shri awardee and Hindustani classical singer Ashwini Bhide Deshpande paid a musical tribute, presenting the legendary artist’s popular songs at her Mazar in Pasand Bagh, Old City.

Hindustani classical singer Ashwini Bhide Deshpande paid a musical tribute to Begum Akhtar. She performed the Mallika-e-Ghazal’s mazar in Lucknow (inset) (Photos: HT)

The singer from Jaipur’s Atrauli Gharana expressed her reverence, stating, “Like everyone, I am a very big fan of Begum Akhtar’s ghazals, her dadras, and thumris. Each of her songs is a masterpiece, and it’s an honour and a special feeling to dedicate a musical evening Hazri, for her at the very place where she rests.”

Deshpande held the audience spellbound with her renditions of ghazals, dadra, and thumri. She opened the evening with a Hazri in Raag Kedar, followed by the ghazal Chha Rahi Kali Ghata, the thumri Ab Ke Sawan Ghar Aa Ja, and the dadra Ho Gayi Beriya Piya. She was accompanied by vocalist Megha Shyamlal Bhatt, Pandit Vinod Lele on the tabla, and Pandit Dharam Nath Mishra on the harmonium. A large gathering of music lovers was present at the Mazar to pay their respects to the legendary singer.

Organiser Madhvi Kuckreja shared, “The musical Hazri has become an annual feature at her Mazar. This year is special because, at our Lucknow Bioscope museum in Sanatkada Ka Adda, we have put up an exclusive exhibition, Life and Legacy of Begum Akhtar. It displays her music LP records, rare articles, some personal belongings, a harmonium gifted by her, and much more.”

A separate two-day musical evening was also organised by Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya at the Kalamandapam auditorium. Pune-based singer Sangeeta Nerurkar performed on the opening day, while Rageshwari Das from Kolkata offered a musical tribute on the concluding day.

Her popular songs including Humri Atariay Pe, Kuch to Duniya Ki Inayat Hai and Aye Mohabaat… were presented on the occasion.

The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mandvi Singh, remarked, “It is a matter of pride for us that Begum Akhtar was associated with the Bhatkhande Music Institute for some time. Revisiting this historic connection fills us with immense respect and honour. This event is a tribute to the immortal legacy of Begum Akhtar.”

13 Artists To Call For A Tribute

13 Artists To Call For A Tribute

by jummy84 October 31, 2025
written by jummy84

D’Angelo was part of the pantheon of Black musical geniuses. Just ask anyone who had the honor of knowing him personally.

His tragic and somewhat sudden death hit hard. Artists and fans were equally distraught. They flooded social media with heartfelt sentiments about what D’Angelo meant to them, how his artistry impacted their lives, and the indelible ways in which his music set a standard and became the blueprint for so many.

Another conversation that began to surface was a tribute performance. Debates formed about which artists should (and shouldn’t) be called, what songs should be sung, which network it should air on, and more.

So, VIBE has carefully laid out what our dream D’Angelo tribute would look like. Whether you agree or not, we just know that when the tribute comes, it better be handled the right way.

  • “Brown Sugar” – Jazmine Sullivan

    D'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Josh Brasted/Getty Images for ESSENCE

Jazmine’s raspiness and soul-stirring range would be delectably sweet on “Brown Sugar.” She can speak about D’Angelo during the song’s intro before putting her own twang on it. All in all, she would understand the assignment and set the tone.

  • “Lady” – Shaé Universe

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute

Shaé Universe was introduced to many when she covered “Lady” for the Soul Train Awards. Knowing how much raw talent meant to the crooner, it’s only right for the U.K. songstress to bless everyone with her spin on the classic. This song was made for a voice like hers.

  • “Cruisin’” – Jamie Foxx

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Marc Piasecki/Getty Images for Amend

There isn’t anything Jamie Foxx can’t sing. His range is superbly documented. Since D’Angelo already made this cover his own, Foxx could strip it down to something more acoustic as he’d coo over the soft melody with a touching anecdote and really honor the late singer’s musicianship. We can also see Raphael Saadiq doing something similar or at least being the musical director behind this moment.

  • “Me And Those Dreamin’ Eyes Of Mine” – Maxwell

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Amy Sussman/Getty Images for MRC

As a fellow neo-soul staple, Maxwell would easily grasp the sensual, intimate nature of “Me And Those Dreamin’ Eyes of Mine.” It’s a simple serenade that fits in his vocal pocket effortlessly. Not to mention, the way he can invite the crowd into his orbit when the chorus hits…

“Ooh-wee, baby/ You’ve redefined my vision of love it seems (you be the cherry)/ You’re gon’ be the cherry in my chocolate-covered dreams…”

We would all ascend seeing him perform this.

  • “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” – DIXSON

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute

DIXSON is another one who practically sing anything because it’s something about those gospel roots paired with the reverent sultriness of “Untitled” that really makes the goosebumps on the back of your neck stand up.

As someone who’s seen him perform this record more than once, trust us when we say— DIXSON needs to be called for the tribute to sing this in its entirety, especially for those riffs and runs on the latter half of the song.

  • “Send It On” – Luke James

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Unique Nicole/Getty Images For NAACP

Admittedly, Luke James was shuffled through a few different songs for this tribute because he’s just that good. After narrowing down a setlist, we landed on wanting Luke to sing “Send It On.” Between falsetto, crescendo, and heavenly riffs, this nestles right into Luke’s bag.

  • “Sugah Daddy” – Durand Bernarr

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Stephanie Augello/Variety via Getty Images

Getting into the Black Messiah portion of the show, we’re kicking things off strong with Durand Bernarr putting his stank on “Sugah Daddy.” With his animated expressions and captivating ability to play over a record, he would have so much fun making this song his own. The jazziness, vibrancy, instrumentation of it all— this has Durand all over it.

  • “Really Love” – Andra Day

    D'Angelo TributeD'Angelo Tribute
Image Credit: Tim P. Whitby/Getty Images for The Walt Disney Company Limited

It took a minute to decide who could take “Really Love” and give it the justice it deserves. After a bit of rumination, Andra Day was the obvious choice. There’s a delicate rasp on the chorus that would’ve made her perfect for a duet if D’Angelo took it there. There’s also something so sexy about the record’s simplicity and we trust Andra to deliver in a live performance.

  • “Another Life” – Anthony Hamilton

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Gregg Deguire/Variety via Getty Images

Having been one of D’Angelo’s background vocalists, Anthony Hamilton knows his music quite well. This was an easy (like Sunday morning) decision simply because of how well he cater this song to his voice and really give it its own legs.

  • “Betray My Heart” – Elmiene

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Paras Griffin/Getty Images for BET

The choice wasn’t if Elmiene should be part of a D’Angelo tribute, but instead which song he’d cover. As a newer artist who oozes influence from the musical genius, there were so many traditional selections. However, after listening to Black Messiah with a cautious ear, we heard Elmiene all over “Betray My Heart.” From that infectious melody to the jazz-like lyrical scatting, this felt like something the budding phenom would do during his own concert just for fun.

  • “Feel Like Makin’ Love” – H.E.R.

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute

The grooviness of “Feel Like Makin’ Love” matches H.E.R.‘s cool demeanor. We also anticipate her reviving the record’s femininity since it’s a Roberta Flack cover. It’s a seamless glide for the multitalented songbird and an easy way to honor Flack, D’Angelo, and J Dilla. She may even breathe new life into it with a guitar solo.

  • “Nothing Even Matters” – Lauryn Hill, Miles Caton

    D'Angelo tributeD'Angelo tribute
Image Credit: Josh Brasted/Getty Images for ESSENCE; Paras Griffin/Getty Images for BET

After hearing what Miles Caton did for Quincy Jones during the 2025 BET Awards, he should accompany Ms. Lauryn Hill in performing her timeless duet with D’Angelo. It’s something about his bass-baritone that would take things up a notch. If Hill opts out of partaking, H.E.R. is the next best choice since she performed it in a medley during D’Angelo’s VERZUZ and they’ve already sang “Best Part” together. However, seeing Caton and Hill do this together would bridge a generational gap.

‘We love him, we miss him…’ Westlife pay tribute to missing member Mark Feehily at 25th anniversary concert in London

29 October 2025

Westlife paid tribute to missing bandmate Mark Feehily as they celebrated their 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday night (27.10.25).

Westlife performing at the Royal Albert Hall

The Irish boy band played the first of two sold out nights at the iconic venue in the UK capital but took to the stage as a trio – Shane Filan, Nicky Bryne and Kian Egan – following Mark’s decision last year to pull out of Westlife’s touring commitments due to a number of serious health issues which have included surgery, sepsis and an incisional hernia.

Halfway through the two-hour gig, Shane, 46, took a moment to remember Mark, 45, and tell fans that despite his absence from the stage Mark features on the group’s upcoming album.

Shane told the crowd: “I want to take a little moment now to speak about Mark who is unfortunately not with us tonight. But we love him, we miss him and we cannot wait to have him back on this stage with us.

“The good news is he’s obviously on the new music which you’ve heard already. And the next album obviously as well. We have a new album coming out in February.”

Shane and his bandmates then dedicated Flying Without Wings to Mark, citing it as his favourite song.

That wasn’t the only moment the Westlife boys took to speak with their loyal fans in attendance.

Nicky, 47, admitted he would never have believed when they started out 25 years ago that two guys from Dublin and three from Sligo would make it on stage at the Royal Albert Hall which has hosted music legends like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the past.

Nicky said: “We were just five lads from Ireland – two from Dublin and three from Sligo – and now we are here.

“I was looking to see the legends and the people of notoriety, the list is endless, from kings and queens that have been standing on this stage to bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones … Frank Sinatra stood on this stage and now its Westlife.

“All our families are over here for a couple of days, the Irish are in town!”

Westlife’s set was packed with greatest hits from their two-and-a-half decade spanning career and highlights included World of Our Own, Queen of My Heart and I Have a Dream as well as swing classics Ain’t That A Kick in the Head and Mack the Knife.

Last year, Mark announced via his Instagram account that he was withdrawing from Westlife’s first tour of America and other dates after undergoing hernia surgery in the wake of other serious health issues.

He posted: “It’s Mark here… Most of you are aware that I have had some health challenges over the past while.

“It actually all started 3.5 years ago in August 2020 when I had surgery. Within a few days of this surgery I was in severe pain and was rushed into A+E.

“I eventually ended that awful day in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where I was informed that due to a complication with the surgery, I had developed severe ‘Sepsis’, a life-threatening infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to rectify the problem and basically save my life.

“I spent the next few months in hospital. It was during lockdown. For months, due to strict Covid restrictions, I was not allowed any visitors including my fiance and my then 10-month-old daughter. It was physically and mentally a very difficult time, not to mention traumatic having to spend so long in ICU.

“In late 2021, I became very ill in Newcastle before a concert and ended up back in A+E, this time being told I had pneumonia. I was told I had to go straight home to recover and regrettably miss the rest of the concerts that December.

“I was referred to a consultant who told me I needed more surgery which I went ahead with in May 2022 meaning I was forced to miss more of The Wild Dreams tour.

“Three months after that surgery, I tried my best to soldier on for you guys and to go back on tour but unfortunately the physical demands of the concerts and extensive travel were proving too much for me.

“I developed a very large ‘incisional hernia’ and I was told that I needed further surgery to fix it. This would be my fourth major surgery since the start of it all, but I had no option.

“‘It is with the upmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual.

“Believe me, I wish things could be different! I would like to thank you so very much for your support and understanding of me and my health over the past few years.

Tickets for Westlife 25: The Anniversary World Tour are on sale this Friday (31.10.25) at 10am and their album The Ultimate Collection is out 13 February 2026.

‘High Potential’ Pays Tribute To Original Series’ Co-Creator Nicholas Jean

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

High Potential paid tribute to Nicolas Jean during the closing credits of the ABC procedural.

The French screenwriter was one of the co-creators of the series HPI, the original series that inspired the U.S. adaptation starring Kaitlin Olson.

“In Memory of Nicolas Jean,” read the title card at the end of Episode 7 of the series (see below).

It was earlier this month that the French writers’ guild, SACD, announced that Jean had died suddenly on September 29.

“Nicolas Jean entered the industry thirteen years ago and had a meteoric rise. Self-taught, with an atypical background that enriched his fictional stories, he quickly established himself as a talented and essential screenwriter on television,” wrote screenwriter and SACD administrator Florence Philipponnat in a message posted on Instagram.

“He had a gift for freely inventing original concepts, freeing himself from imposed constraints. And he knew how to intelligently surround himself with creative writers to develop them with him, because he was passionate about sharing and generosity.”

HPI: Haut Potential Intellectuel (High Intellectual Potential) was co-created by Nicolas Jean alongside Stéphane Carrié and Alice Chegaray-Breugnot. The series premiered in 2021 and continues producing new episodes. In the U.S., the series is available to stream on Hulu as HIP: High Intellectual Potential.

ABC’s High Potential stars Kaitlin Olson as Morgan Gillroy, a single mother with an unconventional knack for solving crimes. The cast of the series also includes Daniel Sunjata (Adam Karadec), Javicia Leslie (Daphne Forrester), Deniz Akdeniz (Oz), Amirah J (Ava Gillroy), Matthew Lamb (Elliot Radovic) and Judy Reyes (Selena Soto). Season 2 of the series added Steve Howey as a series regular playing the precinct’s new captain, Jesse Wagner.

Hrithik is posing in a white attire, complete with a trendy jacket and matching blue jeans, while Jackie Chan is dressed in navy-blue monochrome. What’s more interesting is that both celebrities are posing wearing identical hats, creating a playful touch to the photograph. Capturing the moment, Hrithik has titled the post, “Fancy meeting you here, sir, @jackiechan. My broken bones look up to your broken bones. Forever and always.”

This was not the first meeting between the two superstars. Hrithik and Jackie had first met in 2019 at the China premiere of Hrithik’s Kaabil. They also came together again in 2022 at the Red Sea International Film Festival, where their pictures went viral on social media in no time.

Hrithik’s recent meeting with Jackie Chan occurred while he was holidaying with his girlfriend Saba Azad. Posting a happy selfie with Saba and filmmaker Danish Renzu of Songs of Paradise, Hrithik captioned, “Happy holidays!! Catching the sun with these two supremely talented humans!! If you haven’t seen ‘Songs of Paradise’ yet, do yourselves a favour and go watch it now!” Saba posted romantic photos during their holiday, captioning them, “Nothing better than winter walking!”

On the professional front, Hrithik was last seen in Ayan Mukerji’s action drama War 2, co-starring Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. Although the film received mixed reviews, fans praised Hrithik’s performance. Up next, Hrithik is set to make his OTT debut as a producer with a new thriller series titled Storm under his banner HRX Films, co-produced with Eshaan Roshan. The show will have Parvathy Thiruvothu, Alaya F, Srishti Shrivastava, Rrama Sharma, and Saba Azad playing pivotal roles.
