Watch KISS perform candlelit tribute to Ace Frehley at first “unmasked” show

by jummy84 November 15, 2025
written by jummy84

KISS paid tribute to the late Ace Frehley at their first “unmasked” show on the ‘KISS Kruise’ last night – watch footage of the moment below.

The guitarist and founding member of the group died in Morristown, New Jersey, on October 16. He was 74 years old.

A statement shared at the time revealed that Ace – also known as Spaceman – died “peacefully surrounded by family” following “a recent fall at his home”. An investigation was then launched into Frehley’s death, and the results of a medical examination have since been shared, ruling his death an accident.

Following news of his passing, KISS played their first show in nearly two years on Friday (November 14), with the outdoor unplugged gig launching the ‘Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas’ weekend, marking the first time the veteran rockers have joined forces onstage since 2023’s farewell tour.

Ahead of the show, electric candles were handed out to the audience, and upon taking the stage, Paul Stanley asked the crowd to lift them in the air and take a moment to “think about somebody who is at the foundation of this band”.

“We’re talking about Ace,” he said. “We certainly had differences, but that’s what family is about. Why don’t we take a moment [and] think about him looking down on us” from the fictional planet “Jendell, probably”, which Ace often referred to as his home.

“Let’s have a moment for Ace.”

KISS played:

‘Comin’ Home’
‘See You Tonite’
‘A World Without Heroes’
‘Hard Luck Woman’
‘Christine Sixteen’
‘Nothin’ to Lose’
‘Goin’ Blind’
‘Hide Your Heart’
‘Plaster Caster’
‘Beth’
‘Love Her All I Can’

The guitarist co-founded KISS in 1973 with singer Paul Stanley, bassist and part-time singer Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss. After nearly a decade, Frehley had left the band to pursue a solo career, coupled with his struggles with substance abuse and rising tension within the band about their direction.

In the years following his exit from KISS, Frehley formed a new band, Frehley’s Comet, and he would rejoin KISS for their reunion in 1996 – staying with them until 2002. He did not join them for their farewell world tour in 2022. Among the songs Ace helped write for KISS were classics like ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’, ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, ‘Love Gun’ and more.

Among the names names who have paid tribute to Frehley include Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Nile Rodgers, Steve Vai, John 5, Rush, Alice Cooper, and more.

Following Frehley’s passing, a Change.org petition was launched in an effort to convince NASA to award the guitarist with honorary astronaut status. The petition – started by a fan named Kathryn – has since received over 3,000 signatures and counting.

“Cleto was always kind and eager to help others. As we mourn his loss, we have started two fundraisers to celebrate his life and give back,” wrote Kimmel in a social media post alongside photos of Escobedo and his family with their dog, and an image of Kimmel and his friend. “The first is for UCLA Medical Center where he received such incredible care. The host also pointed fans to the Animal Foundation, which is based in Las Vegas, where he and Escobedo grew up. “Cleto was a compassionate animal lover. He loved each of his rescue dogs like they were family,” read the foundation’s page. “Cleto would have loved his friends and family helping to provide safety, healing and homes for pets in need.”

Dancing With the Stars’ Len Goodman Tribute in 20th Anniversary Episode

How Much Do the Celebrities Get Paid to Be on Dancing With the Stars?

Citing multiple sources, Variety reported in 2019 that Dancing With the Stars contestants make $125,000 for the rehearsal period and first two weeks of the show. If they progress beyond that point, the outlet continued, they earn more money each week. At the time, sources told the publication stars could earn a maximum of $295,000.

However, Bobby Bones said he made more than this when he won season 27 with Sharna Burgess in 2018.

“That show pays OK,” the radio personality said on a Sept. 2025 episode of Jason Tartick‘s podcast Trading Secrets. “Like, first episode, no money. Second episode, $10,000. I think it’s like, $10,000, $10,000, $20,000, $20,000. It ends up being $50,000 an episode if you last.”

Also receiving a base salary of around $110,000, Bones continued, “I ended up making close to $400,000 from that show.”

ABC has not publicly confirmed any of these figures.

Living In A Box singer Richard Darbyshire dies aged 65 as former bandmates pay tribute

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Richard Darbyshire, the former vocalist of 1980s pop trio Living In A Box, has died aged 65.

Darbyshire joined the group in 1985 after visiting the same Sheffield recording studio as his future bandmates, Anthony ‘Tich’ Critchlow and Marcus Vere. They were recording the song of the same name, which became one of their biggest hits, and invited him to record the vocals – they then officially became a trio.

His family confirmed to the BBC that he died on Monday (November 10), and said, “We are all very sad but his memory and songs will live on.”

His former bandmates also paid tribute to the “incredible talent,” calling him a “pure craftsman and a master of his art.” They said: “Richard, wherever you are, Tich and I will miss you dearly. The laughs we had, the wildcat ride we went on, will never be forgotten.”

No cause of death has been given.

Darbyshire was born on March 8, 1960 in Stockport, growing up in Manchester. When he was 13, he moved to Japan with his parents and attended an American boarding school.

Before joining Living In A Box, he studied English Literature at Oxford University and was in the Manchester band Zu Zu Sharks alongside Adam And The Ants bassist Gary Tibbs.

Two years after joining Living In A Box in 1985, they released the song of the same name as their debut single and it peaked at Number Five in the UK, also becoming their only single to break into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. Their debut album, also ‘Living In A Box’, got to Number 25 in the UK.

‘Room In Your Heart’, from their second album ‘Gatecrashing’, also got to Number Five in the UK charts, and he said in 2014 that he was proud of the track because it gave him a rare opportunity to play guitar. Another single from the album, ‘Blow The House Down’, featured guitar from Queen’s Sir Brian May.

Darbyshire left the band in 1989 due to artistic differences and changes to their record label, and they broke up in 1990 before reforming in 2016 with another singer, Kenny Thomas. In 2022, they announced another new vocalist, Bryan Chambers.

Darbyshire, meanwhile, embarked on a solo career and released his debut solo album, ‘How Many Angels’, in 1994. He’s also written songs for artists including Lisa Stansfield, Jennifer Rush and Level 42, and had been holding songwriting workshops in London before his death.

He is survived by his wife, the vocal coach Sonia Jones.

Watch Stevie Wonder, Questlove, and More Pay Tribute to Sly Stone at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2025 Induction Ceremony

Last night’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, kicked off with a star-studded tribute to Sly Stone, who died earlier this year at the age of 82. Stevie Wonder, Questlove, Jennifer Hudson, Maxwell, Beck, Flea, and Leon Thomas—who was recently nominated for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards—took the stage to perform a medley of Sly and the Family Stone songs. Wonder and Beck traded off lead vocal duties on “Dance to the Music,” “Maxwell” took over for “Everyday People,” and, following a jam on “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” Hudson came out to lead the group through “Higher.” Watch it go down below.

This year’s Rock Hall inductees are OutKast, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden, the White Stripes, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, and Joe Cocker, with Warren Zevon and Salt-N-Pepa receiving the Musical Influence Award.

Fans react to Tyler, the Creator, Doja Cat, Janelle Monáe, and Killer Mike’s Outkast tribute – and André 3000 not performing

Performances from Tyler, the Creator, Doja Cat, Janelle Monáe, and Killer Mike for last night’s OutKast tribute at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have drawn mixed reactions.

Back in April, it was announced that the hip-hop duo were set to be inducted alongside names including The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper and Soundgarden. At last night’s (November 8) ceremony, André 3000 and Big Boi were introduced by Donald Glover, who lauded them for their part in creating a “music Mecca” in Atlanta.

Despite being in attendance at the ceremony, André 3000 didn’t perform. Instead, Doja Cat, Killer Mike, J.I.D., Tyler, the Creator, and Janelle Monáe joined Big Boi for a medley of the duo’s classic hits, which has proved divisive on social media.

The performance kicked off with ‘ATLiens’ with Big Boi joined by J.I.D. This was followed by Doja taking on ‘Ms. Jackson’, however, as many X/Twitters users have pointed out, she appeared to lose her thread halfway through the song and miss lyrics.

“Absolutely disrespectful to show up to someone’s tribute and not know their verse,” one viewer wrote. Many seemed to be in agreement, saying Doja had “messed up the best part”.

However, some leapt to her defence, instead blaming the DJ. “Whoever that DJ is who has the nerve to be rapping super loud and the wrong fucking lyrics at that… he completely ruined a legendary moment,” added one user. “So,” asked another, “did she not know the words, or was he just rapping over her?”

While Tyler’s rendition of ‘B.O.B.’ went down well, Monáe’s take on ‘Hey Ya’ – in particular her choice to take on a strange vocal affectation and crawl across the floor. One highly unimpressed viewer later took to social media to write: “Put Janelle Monae in jail for what she did to Hey Ya.”

The medley continued on with ‘The Way You Move’ featuring Sleepy Brown, and closed out with Killer Mike joining all other artists on stage for ‘The Whole World’. You can check out more social media reactions to the tribute performances below.

I wish Andre 3000 was in the mental space to want to perform at the rock and roll hall of fame, but if he wasn’t then I’m glad he didn’t. The night is about celebrating the legendary duo, not for them to perform in their 50s for OUR entertainment. I hope he’s enjoying his flute.

Kinda bummed that Andre 3000 didn’t perform with Big Boi while getting inducted in the Rock N Roll HOF

OutKast deserved better. We all deserved better. And that’s no slight on Doja but there was no coordination https://t.co/HqXlQE3rw2

Put Janelle Monae in jail for what she did to Hey Ya

— Ags (@loganags24) November 9, 2025

Nah they played Outkast with their tribute performance. Doja Cat and Janelle Monae were trash. Everybody else was good though. #RockHall2025

— Julian (@Ju_JustGetsIt) November 9, 2025

i wanna think that whoever else on the mic with her threw her off bc his mic damn near louder than hers but knowing doja… she could very well be up there with no idea of what that man says during that verse smh lol

— That Guy (@KendrickDuh) November 9, 2025

In fairness to her, I think the backup rapper coming in louder than her and also beefing the first line of that verse just completely threw her off 😂

— Joel Nixon (@GoodMorningJoel) November 9, 2025

Shoulda had Tyler the Creator do the whole thing. He had the energy it deserved.

— Marcie Jill (@marciemeow) November 9, 2025

who thought this was a good idea in the 1st place?

— ART VANDELAY © (@mr_artvandely) November 9, 2025

Doja cat performance was terrible… so was Janelle monae… they couldn’t find nobody else???? #Outkast #HallofFame pic.twitter.com/5dOYJtujsl

— 🫶🏽 (@HoneyJaxx_) November 9, 2025

Tyler performed a way harder song and didn’t choke as bad as Doja

That was pathetic

— Snacktar Donutsk 🍩 (@KennySloth253) November 9, 2025

Meanwhile, last December, André 3000 said that OutKast were “further away” from making new music together “than we’ve ever been”.

“I’ll say maybe 10, 15 years ago, in my mind, I thought an OutKast album would happen,” he said. “I don’t know the future, but I can say that we’re further away from it than we’ve ever been.”

“It’s hard for me to make a rap, period, you know? And sometimes I’m in the belief of, ‘Let things be’”, he told Rolling Stone.

He continued: “[OutKast] was a great time in life, and our chemistry was at a certain place that was undeniable,” he said, brushing against the notion that “something has to last forever”.

In May this year, he released a surprise solo EP ‘7 Piano Sketches’, a series of improvisations on piano mostly recorded at a house in Texas.

Elton John Sings “God Only Knows” in Tribute to Brian Wilson: Watch

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Elton John delivered a lovely tribute performance in honor of the late Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson during the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony.

John spoke before the performance, recalling, “In 1970 when I first came to Los Angeles, Danny Hutton from Three Dog Night took me and Bernie Taupin around to meet Brian Wilson — and I was scared shitless. Because he was my idol, my biggest influence when it came to writing songs on the piano.”

Unfortunately, Elton didn’t play piano during the tribute, but he did sing “God Only Knows.” Behind him was a band that featured Don Was on standup bass and one of the greatest drummers of all time Kenny Aronoff.

Wilson passed away on June 11th, 2025, at the age of 82. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Beach Boys in 1988.

John also previously paid tribute to Wilson in the immediate aftermath of hisDon  passing, writing in a post to Instagram, Brian “Wilson was always so kind to me from the day I met him. He sang ‘Someone Saved My Life Tonight’ at a tribute concert in 2003, and it was an extraordinary moment for me. I played on his solo records, he sang on my album, The Union, and even performed for my AIDS Foundation.”

“I grew to love him as a person, and for me, he was the biggest influence on my songwriting ever; he was a musical genius and revolutionary,” John added. “He changed the goalposts when it came to writing songs and shaped music forever. A true giant.”

‘Slow Horses’ pays subtle tribute to Gary Oldman’s ‘The Dark Knight’ co-star Heath Ledger

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The writers of Slow Horses appear to have hidden a tribute to Heath Ledger in the fifth season of the show.

Gary Oldman plays the lead character Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV spy comedy series, and also starred as Lt. Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s beloved 2008 film The Dark Knight, and in episode five of the new season of Slow Horses, the two streams appeared to cross.

In a scene in which he becomes frustrated with his colleague, Oldman’s character snaps, “When you talk, I wanna stick a pencil in my eye and headbutt the table!”

Fans have speculated that this could be a sly reference to a memorable scene in The Dark Knight in which Ledger’s Joker intimidates a group of organised criminals by asking, “How about a magic trick?” before slamming a pencil into the table. “I’m going to make the pencil disappear,” he adds.

As one of the mob confronts him, the Joker smashed his head eye-first through the pencil. “Ta-da!” he exclaims. “It’s gone.”

Ledger passed away at the age of 28, before The Dark Knight was even released in 2008, and went on to pick up an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his iconic role in the film.

Many of Ledger’s co-stars have continued to express their sorrow at his loss in recent years, including Paul Bettany, who said last month that he continues to be unable to rewatch A Knight’s Tale because he misses his co-star so much.

Earlier this year, Michael Caine, who played the butler Alfred in The Dark Knight, said he was left “terrified” by Ledger’s performance. “The smeared makeup, the weird hair, the strange voice. It was chilling,” he wrote. “Absolutely floored me the first time I saw him in action – I was terrified”.

The Slow Horses season five final was on October 29, but it has already been commissioned for a sixth season.

Summer Walker Pays Tribute To Anna Nicole Smith On New Album Cover

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Summer Walker has taken inspiration from late cultural icon Anna Nicole Smith for the cover art for her forthcoming studio album Finally Over It, recreating the infamous photograph of Smith at her wedding ceremony with J. Howard Marshall.

Walker unveiled the album’s cover art via social media on Wednesday (Nov. 6) evening, announcing that the project will be released on Friday, Nov. 14.

The cover is a coy reference to the R&B star’s disenchantment with traditional romantic relationships and prioritization of financial and material gain in her dealings with men, an accusation levied upon Anna Nicole Smith regarding her own love life.

Summer Walker (L) attends the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards at UBS Arena on September 07, 2025 in Elmont, New York.

In June 1994, Smith, who was 26-years-old at the time, married Marshall, an 89 year-old millionaire and former government official, in a wedding held at the White Dove Chapel in Houston, TX.

Marshall, a stakeholder in notably Koch Industries with an estimated net worth of $550 million, would pass away of pneumonia in August 1995, with Smith eventually losing a lengthy legal battle with Marshall’s family and estate regarding his fortune.

Walker, whose tumultuous relationships have been addressed in her music and bled over into tabloid fodder, has been vocal about her newfound attitude towards men, an admission the 29-year-old recently made in a clip that went viral on social media.

“Men are providers, and that’s it,” the hitmaker told journalist Speedy Morman during an interview. “I’m not attracted to them.” When asked whether that meant “bleeding them dry,” she chuckled while confirming, “Yes. As soon as I get everything, you’re off.”

Prior to those comments, life seemingly imitated her art, as Walker showed up to the 2025 MTV VMAs with an older Caucasian man as her “mystery guest.”

Following her 2019 effort Over It and its 2021 sequel Still Over It, Finally Over It arrives a full four years after the previous offering in the series and marks the songstresses most anticipated release to date.

With high-profile features alongside Usher (“Good Good”), Odeal (“You’re Stuck), and Cardi B (“Dead,” “Shower Tears”), her own 2024 hit single “Heart of a Woman,” and her most release solo release “Spend It,” the GRAMMY-nominated artist has managed to keep her voice on the airwaves and increase her popularity despite sporadic releases, an admirable task in today’s content-hungry landscape.
