“Oh boy ladies & gentlemen, have I got a treat for you!” Black Bear Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Christy, hot on the heels of its successful premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last week. Christy is now set for a US release in theaters nationwide starting in November later this fall. “What does it take to become a legend?” The sports movie tells the story of of Christy Martin, the most successful female boxer of the 1990s. From the TIFF description: “Featuring a career-best performance from Sydney Sweeney, the latest from David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) chronicles groundbreaking boxer Christy Martin’s fierce story of self-actualization in the face of terrifying adversity…” They also add: “Dealing with themes of misogyny, domestic violence, and sexual identity, the film does justice to Christy’s journey by being frank about the obstacles she overcame.” Critics have been saying Sweeney is awards worthy in this, with a strong emotional lead role as Christy. The cast also includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad Coleman, Bryan Hibbard, and Gilbert Cruz. It looks like yet another cliche boxing movie like so many others before it, but it also seems to throw some strong punches of its own. Take a look.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for David Michôd’s movie Christy, direct from YouTube:

Christy Trailer

Christy Poster

Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster). But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it—confronting family, identity, and a relationship that might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life. Christy is directed by Australian filmmaker David Michôd, director of the films Animal Kingdom, The Rover, War Machine, and The King previously, as well as a few shorts. The screenplay is written by Mirrah Foulkes and David Michôd; story by Katherine Fugate. Produced by Kerry Kohansky-Roberts, Teddy Schwarzman, Brent Stiefel, Justin Lothrop, David Michôd, Sydney Sweeney. This just premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Fest this month. Black Bear Pictures releases Michôd’s Christy movie in US theaters on November 7th, 2025.

“Have fun. Learn new things. You can’t stay cooped up here with Estela.” Netflix has debuted the official trailer for a Chilean film titled Swim to Me, also known as Limpia in Spanish (which translates directly to Clean). The film is inspired by Alia Trabucco’s best-selling novel of the same name, following the story of Estela, a woman from rural Chile, who embarks on a journey to Santiago, leaving her family behind to work as a maid for an affluent household. Netflix will release it globally in October for streaming at home. Swim To Me is a gripping family drama that tells the story of the intense relationship between Estela, a domestic worker, and the six-year-old girl she takes care of day and night. As their bond grows stronger, they build a secret, dependent world that will lead them to an inevitable outcome. This stars María Paz Grandjean, Rosa Puga, Ignacia Baeza, Benjamin Westfall, and Rodrigo Palacios. It looks okay – worth a watch.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Dominga Sotomayor’s film Swim to Me, from Netflix’s YouTube:

Duki’s ‘Rockstar’ Rise (and Challenges) Shine in Netflix Doc Trailer

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Duki’s meteoric rise in Argentina’s trap scene will be the focus of a new Netflix documentary. On Friday, the streaming service released the first trailer for Rockstar: Duki Desde el Fin Del Mundo, premiering Oct. 2.

Directed by Alejandro Hartmann, the film traces Duki’s evolution from freestyler to cultural phenomenon in South America and Spain. “People saw with their own eyes that I was a little kid like any other,” a young Duki says in the clip, speaking of his rise doing freestyles for El Quinto Escalón. “Before freestyling, I wanted to make music.”

The trailer weaves together moments of acclaim and criticism, along with emotional family memories, including an interview with his mother in tears, recalling, “I couldn’t believe what I was looking at!” as home videos of him as a baby play.

“At a turning point in his career and artistic identity, Mauro finds himself shedding his skin and confronting his inner demons to carry forward the story of Duki and the movement he represents,” reads the synopsis. “Who is Mauro, and who is Duki in the end?”

The teaser also features appearances by Bizarrap and Young Miko. “Duko is like putting on the superhero suit,” says Duki at the end of the video.

Trending Stories

Rockstar: Duki Desde el Fin Del Mundo comes several months after he released his album 5202 in July, featuring “Golfista,” “5202 Type Beat,” and “Agarro La Plata.” And in 2024, Duki welcomed Myke Towers, Eladio Carrion, YG, and Lil Wayne on Ameri.

“For this one, we gave ourselves a lot of time,” he told Rolling Stone when discussing the record back in December. “I’m very in the moment, so it’s hard for me to make an album and hold it for a while, and then go back into the studio to re-record things, but I felt like it was worth it for this.”

“Disappear into your imagination! Nobody’s in the room but you and that pen!” Les Films du Losange in France has revealed the first official trailer for Kristen Stewart’s directorial debut – a new film titled The Chronology of Water, based on the book of the same name. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and will next stop by the Vienna & London Film Festivals. No US release date is set yet – it’s expected sometime in early 2026. An Olympic swimming hopeful flees her abusive home via a Texas scholarship. After losing her scholarship to addiction, she studies further under Ken Kesey in Oregon. Through writing, family, and self-discovery, she overcomes her troubled past. Stewart isn’t in the film – she co-wrote and produced and directed it. Imogen Poots stars as a young woman who finds her voice through the written word & her salvation as a swimmer – ultimately becoming a triumphant teacher, mother and a singular modern writer. The full cast includes Thora Birch, Earl Cave, Tom Sturridge, Kim Gordon, & Jim Belushi as iconic novelist Ken Kesey, who mentors Lidia. I did not care for this film – it’s a big mess.

Here’s the first French trailer for Kristen Stewart’s film The Chronology of Water, from YouTube:

The Chronology of Water Poster

Brought up in an environment torn apart by violence and alcohol, Lidia Yuknavitch seemed destined for self-destruction & failure until words offered her unexpected freedom through literature. The Chronology of Water, adapted from Yuknavitch’s autobiographical bestseller, follows Lidia’s journey to find her own voice in an exploration of how trauma can be transformed into art through re-possessing our own bloody histories, particularly those uniquely experienced by bodies of women and girls. The Chronology of Water is directed by acclaimed Americana actress / producer / filmmaker Kristen Stewart, making her feature directorial debut after a few other short films. The screenplay is written by Andy Mingo and Kirsten Stewart, adapted from Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir of the same name. It’s produced by Ridley Scott, Charles Gillibert, Yulia Zayceva, Max Pavlov, Svetlana Punte, Michael Pruss, Rebecca Feuer, Kristen Stewart, Maggie McLean, Dylan Meyer. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The film opens first in France on October 15th, 2025 this fall, then in select US theaters starting January 2026. Featuring tons of other fun monsters, too. “Stitch Head was the first creation to be born—and the first to be forgotten.” A whimsical, heartfelt twist on the Frankenstein legend, Stitch Head is a comedy adventure for monsters of every age. This animation creation features the voices of Asa Butterfield as Stitch Head, Joel Fry, Alison Steadman, Rob Brydon, Fern Brady, Tia Bannon, & Jamali Maddix. There’s tons of wacky, weird creature creations. And it’s a tale of friendship and kindness, about all these little monsters who aren’t the scary freaks they’re made out to be. Have a look.

You can rewatch the teaser trailer for Steve Hudson’s Stitch Head film right here for the first look again.

High above the little town of Grubbers Nubbin, in a castle laboratory, the maddest of all mad professors brings monstrous creations to (almost) life… and then promptly forgets all about them. So, who runs the castle? Who keeps the monsters in line, so the townsfolk don’t form an angry mob? That job falls to Stitch Head – the professor’s very first creation. He does it all, unnoticed and unthanked. But when a ramshackle freak show rolls into town, its sly owner, Fulbert Freakfinder, comes knocking, offering Stitch Head fame, fortune… and maybe even love. A whimsical, heartfelt twist on the Frankenstein legend. Stitch Head is written and directed by English actor / filmmaker Steve Hudson, director of the movies Co/Ma and True North previously, plus the series “Cranford”. Co-directed by Toby Genkel. Adapted from the graphic novel series created by Guy Bass. Produced by Sonja Ewers and Mark Mertens. Briarcliff Ent. debuts the animated Stitch Head movie in theaters nationwide starting October 29th, 2025 this fall. Who’s down? Look good?

“Give me a year of your life for freeing you. I’ll put your skills to good use.” Well Go USA has revealed an official US trailer for a Japanese action thriller called Samurai Fury, which is just the simplistic English title. The film’s original title in Japan is Muromachi Outsiders or 室町無頼 (Muromachi Burai) because of the story: this historical action epic follows Hasuda Hyoe, a man who led an uprising in the Muromachi period. In Kyoto, Hyoe gathers a group of outlaws as he plans an unprecedented riot against authorities. As famine and plague ravage 15th century Japan, the laconic shogun watches and does nothing. The rebellious wanderer Hasuda Hyoe has seen enough and plots to depose the shogun and save Japan from self-imposed devastation. Starring Ôizumi Yô as the heroic Hyoe, the story pits him against one-time friend Honekawa Doken, the iconic Shin’ichi Tsutsumi in a fight for survival. Also with Nagao Kento and Matsumoto Wakana. Looks like a full-on epic with massive fight scenes and tons of extras. I just hope the rest is good.

Here’s the official US trailer (+ poster) for Yû Irie’s action film Samurai Fury, direct from YouTube:

Produced by Kazuma Kuryû. This first opened in Japan in January earlier this year, and it also played at the New York Asian Film Festival this summer. “You’re hiding something…” “I’m not even here, man.” Voltage Pictures has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Safe House, a generic action thriller made by filmmaker Jamie Marshall. Not to be confused with the 2012 Denzel Washington movie also literally called Safe House – or any of the other recent movies about people hiding out in a safe house. The intense thriller is about six government agents sequestered in a covert location after a terror attack on Los Angeles. As they attempt to navigate their way through a web of paranoia, they come to suspect the perpetrator may be one of their own. But, who? Starring Lewis Tan, Lucien Laviscount, Hannah John-Kamen, Ethan Embry, and Holt McCallany. As totally expected, this looks especially bad. The script will probably make it even worse if anyone dares try to watch this film.

Here’s the official trailer for Jamie Marshall’s action thriller movie Safe House, direct from YouTube:

Safe House Movie Trailer

Six federal agents in hiding out at a safe house after a Los Angeles terror attack quickly grow suspicious of each other as they realize the perpetrator could be hiding among them. Safe House is directed by British filmmaker Jamie Marshall, making his second feature film after directing Dirty Lies (2017) previously, plus decades of other work as a second unit director in the film industry. The screenplay is written by Leon Langford. Produced by Alexandra Cocean, Lucas Jarach, and Timothy C. Sullivan. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Voltage Pictures will debut Marhsall’s Safe House movie in select US theaters coming soon this fall stay tuned for the exact date. Anyone interested in watching this?

“All according to plan.” Hulu has revealed an official trailer for the anime series Cat’s Eye, an adaptation of the 1980s manga of the same name (CAT’S♥EYE). The same manga has turned into other series before, including a live-action TV series in France. Now it’s being made into proper modern anime and will debut on Hulu in the US later this month. By day, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai run a cafe called “Cat’s Eye”, but by night these three sisters work as a trio of thieves working to recover their father’s stolen art collection. Balancing their double lives becomes even more difficult as they are relentlessly investigated by Detective Toshio — who doesn’t know his girlfriend is one of the thieves he’s pursuing. Yoshifumi Sueda directs the series, with Yosuke Yabumoto as character designer & animation director, Hayashi Mori as series writer, and Yuki Hayashi on the music. The voice cast includes Mikako Komatsu as Hitomi, Ami Koshimizu as Rui, Yumiri Hanamori as Ai, Takuya Sato as Toshio, Yoko Higasa, & Katsuyuki Knoishi. Looks like amusing fun, following these 3 as they outsmart the authorities stealing back their father’s art around world.

Here’s the official trailer (+ posters) for Yoshifumi Sueda’s anime series Cat’s Eye, direct from YouTube:

Hitomi, Rui and Ai are three sisters with a secret. By day, they run the popular Cat’s Eye Café; by night, they slip into the shadows, executing high-stakes art heists with precision and style. Since its manga debut in 1981, Cat’s Eye has developed a global fandom, with the upcoming series sure to deliver on everything fans have come to love from this fun story: thrilling action, high stakes heists, along with the impossibly complex relationship between Hitomi and her partner Detective Toshio — the man sworn to catch these infamous thieves. Cat’s Eye, originally known as キャッツ・アイ in Japanese, is an anime series directed by Japanese animation filmmaker Yoshifumi Sueda, director on the series “Rail Wars!”, “High School DxD”, “Z/X: Code Reunion”, and Sailor Moon Cosmos previously. With writing by Hayashi Mori; adapted from Tsukasa Hôjô’s manga series of the same name. Featuring music by Yûki Hayashi. Produced by Liden Films (Rurouni Kenshin 2023, Berserk). Visit the anime series’ official Japanese site. Disney will release Sueda’s Cat’s Eye series streaming on Hulu starting September 26th, 2025 coming soon. Who’s into this anime?
