“Reset the timeline by sending out a signal…” Capelight Pictures has debuted the full trailer for a Thai sci-fi movie called Project Genesis, also known as Taklee Genesis, made by filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul. After first debuting last year (first teaser here), this is finally getting a US release direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting in October – in time for spooky season. A time-travel adventure that takes place during the Cold War when a US military base in Thailand was testing the Taklee Genesis, a warp-speed teleporter even though it had not yet been fully developed. After the war, the Taklee Genesis was left behind in Thailand and was being illegally used by someone. A striking blend of practical effects, CGI spectacle, and emotional storytelling, Project Genesis cements Sakveerakul’s reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most imaginative genre filmmakers. There’s dinosaurs, monsters, time travel, and much more in this! Starring Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, Wanarat Ratsameerat, and Nutthacha Jessica Padovan. It’s a breathtaking, high-concept journey that fuses time-travel science fiction with kaiju, dinosaurs, cavemen, and zombies—a bold cinematic mashup that spans over 7,000 years of history. This looks totally crazy! Reminds me of that other Thai CGI movie Rebirth: Home Sweet Home recently. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a sci-fi geek.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chookiat Sakveerakul’s film Project Genesis, direct from YouTube:

Project Genesis Trailer

Project Genesis Poster

Scientist and single mother Stella (Paula Taylor) returns to her hometown after years away. One night, she receives a mysterious transmission on an old radio—it’s her long-lost father, missing for decades and now trapped in space within an alternate time configuration. To rescue him, Stella must track down the “Genesis Machine“, a relic of a classified CIA project hidden somewhere in Thailand. Her quest launches her into a kaleidoscopic journey through time and space—one that will pit her against prehistoric beasts, ancient tribes, mutant creatures, and the boundaries of reality itself. Project Genesis, also known as Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide, is directed by Thai filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul, director of the films Evil, The 4 Movie, Grean Fictions, The Eyes Diary, Pay It Forward, Dew, Mondo, and many other new TV series recently. The screenplay is written by Chookiat Sakveerakul, Thanamas Dhalerngsuk, Sorawit Muangkaew. Produced by Monaiya Tharasak, Nakorn Phopairoj, and Kaweenipon Ketprasit. This initially premiered in Thailand one year ago in late 2024. Capelight Pictures will release Sakveerakul’s Project Genesis in the US direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting on October 21st, 2025 coming soon this fall. Anyone want to watch this?

The much-awaited trailer of Rebel Star Prabhas’ Pan-India spectacle The RajaSaab has finally been unveiled, sending fans into a frenzy across the country. Blending supernatural chills with laughter, drama, and heartfelt emotions, the trailer promises an entertainer mounted on a scale rarely seen in Indian cinema.

RajaSaab: Trailer Promises Chills, Laughs & Emotions

Touted as India’s biggest horror fantasy drama, The RajaSaab raises the bar with its sheer scale and grandeur. The film boasts the largest horror set ever built in India, spread across acres and crafted with intricate detail to create an eerie, immersive world. Beyond its haunting spectacle. It strikes an emotional chord, touching upon themes of love, family, and ancestral legacy—making it both larger-than-life and deeply relatable.

The trailer opens with Prabhas’ character being controlled by Boman Irani’s character through hypnosis, immediately creating an intense and mysterious atmosphere. It also showcases his romance with the three leading ladies, with Prabhas’ witty, lively, and playful side making a strong comeback. Several light-hearted moments and perfectly timed comic sequences throughout the trailer balance the chills, making it both thrilling and fun. The suspense heightens in a flashback where an old woman worships Goddess Durga, praying for her grandson—Prabhas—followed by haunting visuals of the grand Haveli, chilling action, and a powerful soundtrack. Sanjay Dutt appears as a rugged, eerie figure, sending shivers across audiences. The trailer culminates with a reveal of Prabhas’ double role as the undisputed king, leaving fans intrigued about the story and the many surprises that lie ahead.

The trailer also marks Prabhas’ return to the big screens after delivering the massive blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD (Rs1,200 Cr), and fans are eagerly waiting to see the superstar in a fresh avatar combining charm, heroism, and supernatural intrigue. In a bold move, the makers have released a 3-minute-plus trailer nearly three months before release, reflecting their confidence in the film’s magnitude. The launch itself was celebrated with mass screenings across 105 theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where packed houses of fans cheered and whistled, turning the unveiling into a festive celebration. The trailer simultaneously went live on People Media Factory’s digital platforms, extending the excitement to fans across the globe.

Director Maruthi on The RajaSaab trailer launch, “With The RajaSaab, we wanted to create a world that’s grand, emotional, and entertaining in every sense. The trailer is just a glimpse of the scale and heart we’ve put into this film. Prabhas garu has brought unmatched energy and charm to the role, and I can’t wait for audiences to experience it on the big screen. Finishing the intro song recently was a special moment for me—whether you take it as a note of love for our darling superstar or the song’s title, the emotion behind it is straight from the heart.”

TG Vishwa Prasad, People Media Factory, on the film: “From building India’s largest horror set to assembling a stellar cast led by Rebel Star Prabhas, our aim has always been to deliver an unforgettable Pan-India spectacle. The overwhelming response to the trailer, both online and in theatres, has strengthened our belief that the film will strike a chord with audiences everywhere. This is just the beginning of the celebration.”

Starring Rebel Star Prabhas alongside Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar, the film promises powerhouse performances in a supernatural setting. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory, The RajaSaab will release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. “I can’t be part of this system anymore…” Utopia has revealed their official trailer for the indie horror film titled In Our Blood, the first narrative feature from editor / doc filmmaker Pedro Kos. This first premiered last year at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival, with stops at Screamfast, Mórbido, and other fests. Now set to open in US theaters in October. In Our Blood masterfully blends psychological mystery with chilling horror. The film weaves a twisted tale of reconciling with the ghosts of our past and confronting the complicity we share in creating a world that preys on the most vulnerable. That sounds scary! Nothing is as it seems when filmmaker Emily Wyland teams up with cinematographer Danny to shoot an intimate documentary about reuniting with Emily’s estranged mother after a decade apart. When her mom suddenly is missing, possibly because of the addictions that first tore her family apart, Emily and Danny must piece together increasingly sinister clues to find her before it’s too late. Starring Brittany O’Grady, E.J. Bonilla, Alanna Ubach, Krisha Fairchild, Leo Marks, Bianca Comparato, and Steven Klein. Check out some footage below.

Here’s the official red band trailer (+ poster) for Pedro Kos’ In Our Blood, from YouTube:

First Trailer for Ulrich Köhler’s ‘Gavagai’ Meta Film Premiering at NYFF

“I”m nervous about tonight…” Luxbox has revealed the first official trailer for the film Gavagai, the latest from German filmmaker Ulrich Köhler. He is a talented under-the-radar director best known for his post-apocalyptic film In My Room from a few years ago. Gavagai is premiering now at the 2025 New York and Zurich Film Festivals now, before showing at Hamburg and even more fests this fall. It’s a meta story about a filmmaker making a film then encountering racism during its premiere. On the set of a turbulent shoot of a Medea adaptation in Senegal, Africa, Maja seeks solace in a love affair with her co-star Nourou. Months later, they meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Old feelings resurface, but a racist incident unsettles their reunion. Tensions rise as everyone tries to do the right thing. While the ancient tragedy plays out on screen, a contemporary drama unfolds. Gavagai stars Jean-Christophe Folly, Maren Eggert, Nathalie Richard, and Anna Diakhere Thiandoum. This looks quite good! I’m surprised it didn’t show up at any other fests like Venice or TIFF, but I’m glad it’s getting a chance to shine now. Keep an eye out for this one.

Here’s the first official trailer for Ulrich Köhler’s film Gavagai, direct from Luxbox’s YouTube:

Gavagai Trailer

Gavagai Trailer

Extended intro via NYFF: “In this charged, unexpected metacinematic drama from German director Ulrich Köhler, a radical new movie production of Medea, drastically altered from Euripides’s original play, becomes the center of a series of unresolvable contemporary tensions. Nourou (Jean-Christophe Folly) and Maja (Maren Eggert) embody Jason and Medea on-screen, tussling with the film’s high-anxiety director (Nathalie Richard) during the shoot in Senegal, all the while negotiating an adulterous romance off-set. Later, at the film’s premiere in Berlin, Nourou, unresolved in his personal and professional life, has a rattling run-in with a racist security guard, which throws his—and the film’s—world off its axis… Gavagai is [Köhler’s] most ambitious and expansive film yet—a pinpoint-accurate account of moral crises and social biases, modern and ancient, internal and external.“

Gavagai is written and directed by acclaimed German filmmaker Ulrich Köhler, of the films Bungalow, Windows on Monday, Sleeping Sickness, In My Room, and A Voluntary Year. Produced by Ingmar Trost, Clément Duboin. This is premiering at the 2025 New York & Zurich Film Festivals this fall. It will open in German cinemas in January 2026 early next year. No US release is set yet – stay tuned. How does it look?

“If we get this wrong… none of us are going to be alive tomorrow.” What would YOU do if this actually happened? Netflix has revealed the intense full trailer for the movie A House of Dynamite, the riveting new Kathryn Bigelow-directed thriller following her military hits The Hurt Locker & Zero Dark Thirty. It already premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and earned rave reviews (mine is here) and will play at the New York Film Festival next this weekend. A House of Dynamite is a modern day nuclear fears thriller. The triptych film is about various White House staffers grappling with an impending nuclear missile strike on America. This gripping drama unfolds in real-time as tensions escalate – they have 20 minutes to decide to try and stop it, what to do, and how to respond. Do they fire back? And if so – at who? The ensemble cast includes Idris Elba as the US President, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Jonah Hauer-King, Moses Ingram, Jared Harris, with Greta Lee and Jason Clarke. This is a properly thrilling trailer that captures the extreme anxiety & stress of being in this situation. It’s a must watch film that everyone needs to see and discuss more after. One of the best suspense thrillers of the year.
