South Park Tackles Deepfakes as Manipulated Videos Hit the Town

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

South Park went deep on deepfakes this week, with dual plotlines in Colorado and Washington centered around the concerning use of false video and the implications of its widespread use — be it for revenge porn or to excuse real footage.

We start this week’s episode with our beloved Butters, feeling like he was used, hellbent on revenge against his ex-girlfriend, Red, over the whole Labubu Satanic ritual incident at her birthday party last season. So the sweet boy decides to create an A.I. deepfake video of her being urinated upon by Santa Claus. Which is bad, but not quite as bad as the video Red makes of Butters having sex with Totoro, the lovable creature from the 1988 Hayao Miyazaki animated fantasy film, My Neighbor Totoro. And, yes, Butters defiling Totoro is something we just can’t unsee.

The plotline thickens surrounding Eric Cartman and Peter Thiel’s trip to Washington to battle The Antichrist — a kidnapping that is being covered up with deep fake AI videos of the young resident obnoxious anti-hero — as the boys’ mother starts asking questions of the local police. But Detective Harris is more concerned with the apparent series of rapes at South Park Elementary, and are soon questioning Butters about his relationship with Totoro (referred to here as “hat forest dwelling piece of shit”). And that’s when goons from Studio Ghibli in Japan show up, calling B.S. on the hard-earned work of animators being easily copied by AI deep fakes. They are soon thrown into South Park’s jail.

In Washington, Vice President J.D. Vance is getting a tongue lashing from President Trump over his meddling in his personal life, namely the baby he is expecting with Satan, aka the Antichrist. Trump fesses up that he doesn’t want the baby, as the little bundle of hellfire will cramp his social life. So Vance suggests a gunman he knows in Colorado who can take care of things. Satan walks in on the Veep and Prez in the White House hot tub, hatching the plan, but yells at Trump and runs off. At that point, Trump and Vance seem to have a moment in the hot tub… and end up making love in the Lincoln Bedroom — in a scene that goes on and on and never gets comfortable to watch.

Talk about a speedy trial. After the act break, the A.I. The video revenge situation at South Park Elementary is soon on trial — with animated favorite Bluey on the stand to testify about the bad things Kyle, Stan and Kenny made her do in a deep fake that she wasn’t even paid for. By episode’s end, it;s discovered that the videos of Cartman were fake and he’s rescued and as always, ungrateful of his mother’s love (“When’s the last time you saw me eat a pot pie?” he asks his relieved mom.

All’s well that ends well for Detective Harris, who believes that he busted a huge community of online rapists named after a popular AI tool. However, Trump is in hot water when Lincoln Bedroom surveillance footage of him getting freaky with Vance leaks to Fox News; the network issues a despondent, defeated report on the tryst; it’s so sad you can almost feel bad for the network and its Trump-loving staff. That is, until Trump clears the air by telling Fox anchor that, duh, of course that lengthy — too lengthy — sex scene with his veep was fake as hell. Satan seems skeptical but remains in Trump’s bed as the arrival of The AntiChrist gets closer…

Vividink takes its pants to town!

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Event industry PR and social media agency, Vividink, is taking its pants to London Town for Event Tech Live in an attempt to right the wrong of PR being seen as pants!

“For over twenty years, we have watched so many innovative and creative events companies fail to recognise that what they do is newsworthy, it’s of value to the readers of many of the industry news channels, and yet they fail to recognise the opportunity. A situation that can only be described as ‘pants!’” explained Vividink’s head of public relations, Paul Richardson.

“We decided that it was time to shake things up a bit, so we’re bringing our pants to Event Tech Live 2025, at Excel London. Many companies experiment with the occasional press release, but few truly capitalise on the opportunities that an effective PR campaign can provide. We intend to address this shortcoming,” added Richardson.

The theme of the campaign “PR needn’t be pants…” is intended to remind event companies that the fascination with AI is another distraction that reduces the effectiveness of brand communications as people lean into the apparent ease with which LLMs generate content. Unfortunately, AI isn’t always accurate and lacks the ability to draft copy that triggers an emotional response, not to mention the risk of plagiarism. In a recent article on MarketingProfs.com, Kelsey Raymond took a long, hard look at this subject. The following quotes from editors are taken from her article, Publications Don’t Want Your AI-Generated Content.

“Gini Dietrich, founder of Spin Sucks, admitted that AI-generated content can sometimes be fairly good but said it is usually “missing personality, context, and storytelling—the creative part of writing.”

Ivan Widjaya, owner of Noobpreneur.com, noted that articles written by AI exhibit a “lack of flair and originality.” Widjaya went on to add, “Creative writing is possible using AI tools, but some content creators either just don’t want to learn about effective prompting for results that are at least 90% close to their/readers’ expectations, or they just want to create content fast and move on to the next projects.”

And according to Richard Larsson, SVP of digital content at Advertising Week, “AI-generated content lacks humour, personality, and colour, basically everything that makes for a compelling read. So far, AI-generated content is very disappointing given the hype around it.”

Richardson concludes, “Pretty unequivocal comments from the people who we need to listen to most. Those who are the gatekeepers of the media channels we use to reach our clients’ audiences. And, by the time you have created that master prompt for your AI-scripted news release, you could have written something better from scratch.”

Fun Trailer for ‘Tinsel Town’ Holiday Comedy Feat. Kiefer Sutherland

“This is the best time I’ve ever had – and it’s ’cause of you.” Another 2025 holiday movie entry. Brainstorm Media has unveiled an official trailer for the movie Tinsel Town, a new Christmas-time comedy starring Kiefer Sutherland who gets mixed in a small town in England during the holidays. Made by director Chris Foggin, arriving to watch later in November for anyone who might be interested. A washed-up Hollywood action star leaves the US and ends up taking a surprise role in a small English village’s Christmas pageant production of Cinderella. With the help of the straight-talking choreographer and quirky cast in the town, he embraces the holiday spirit while reconnecting with his young daughter. The feel-good movie stars Kiefer Sutherland as “Bradley Mack”, Rebel Wilson, Derek Jacobi, Mawaan Rizwan, Maria Friedman, Jason Manford, Asim Chaudhry, Danny Dyer, Ray Fearon, and Lucien Laviscount. This looks like it has at least a few funny scenes. But it also just reminds me how much better The Holiday is in every way.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chris Foggin’s film Tinsel Town, direct from YouTube:

Tinsel Town Poster

Kiefer Sutherland stars as a Hollywood action star with a bloated ego, who is blindsided when his iconic action franchise is abruptly cancelled. With his career in freefall, he heads to England, hoping to land a role on the West End, but instead finds himself playing a role in small English village’s Christmas pageant. With the help of the outspoken choreographer & quirky cast, he embraces the holiday spirit to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Tinsel Town is directed by British filmmaker Chris Foggin, director of the films Kids in Love, Fisherman’s Friends, This Is Christmas, and the two Bank of Dave movies previously. The screenplay is written by Frazer Flintham, Adam Brown, Piers Ashworth, and Jake Brunger. Produced by Matt Williams, Pascal Degove, Ava Aashna Chopra. Brainstorm Media debuts Foggin’s Tinsel Town comedy in select US theaters + on VOD starting on November 28th, 2025 coming up. Who wants to watch it? 🎄

League Two Notts County head to National League outfit Brackley Town on Saturday in the first round of the FA Cup.

Brackley Town have dropped to 17th in the National League as a result of four defeats in their last five games.

Happy Halloween – here's Lankum's haunting cover of The Specials' 'Ghost Town'

Happy Halloween – here’s Lankum’s haunting cover of The Specials’ ‘Ghost Town’

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Lankum have shared a haunting, creepy cover of The Specials’ 1981 classic ‘Ghost Town’ – check it out below.

The track will be released as a standalone 12” single via Rough Trade Records on January 30, with an elaborate etching on the B-side. You can pre-order your single here.

The Dublin experimental folk band originally covered the song as a contribution to Oona Doherty’s dance show ‘Specky Clark’ at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre earlier this year, and they have now unveiled a video for the eight-minute track, shot in County Wicklow and directed by Leonn Ward.

The single stays true to Lankum’s signature ‘folk drone’ style initially, with a crawling, insidious pace and discordant strings lending extra menace to the song’s legendary anti-Thatcherite lyrics, before it erupts into a cacophonous, electronic climax. Watch the video here:

Lankum have said: “’Ghost Town’ came to us through some curious circumstances. Oona Doherty, who we were familiar with through her phenomenal dance work on the video for Gilla Band’s ‘Shoulderblades’, contacted us and told us about a new show she was putting together. It was about her great-great-grandfather being sent to Belfast as a child to live with his aunts and work in an abattoir. She wanted a new piece of music for the show, for a party scene set on Halloween night, and told us she wanted it to start out indistinguishable and woozy, before developing into the very recognisable track by The Specials.”

“At first we were slightly reticent, since a cover of a ska tune wasn’t something we’d usually ever consider, but after a bit of deliberation we decided we’d give it a shot, and the result took us on an incredibly enjoyable journey that had us gleefully playing with synthesisers and drum machines in Hellfire Studios, trying to come up with the scaldiest 90s sounding techno for the outro section of the track.”

“We’re very excited with the end product and delighted that Oona approached us and challenged us to step out of our comfort zone. It’s an honour to be releasing a version of this iconic tune, and it feels eerily relevant to be referencing yet again themes of urban decay, economic hardship and working class frustration. Enjoy responsibly.”

Doherty added: “I was listening to Lankum and it inspired me to write this dance theatre play called ‘Specky Clark’ using a lot of their music. But for one scene which happens on Halloween night Samhain, I asked the band could they make me a cover of ‘Ghost Town’ by The Specials. And they bloody did. ‘All the clubs have been closed down’. I think this line still hits hard all these years later and in a dub accent speaks to housing crises, the poverty, the privatization of Ireland.  They also managed to make the track rip through this physical plane of existence and dance in the other world…. only Lankum can do that.”

Lankum released their fourth studio album ‘False Lankum’ in 2023, picking up Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello nominations. Guitarist Daragh Lynch told NME last year that the album’s success had been “very unexpected”, adding: “We spent the last four albums just really dedicating ourselves to what we want to do. We thought the last album was one of the weirdest and most inaccessible that we’ve done so far, but for some reason it’s the one that everyone picked up on. Maybe we just need to get weirder and weirder!”

“Behind this door, nothing is what it seems.” 🐸 Netflix has revealed the full official trailer for an eerie new original series titled Wayward, created by actress / writer / comedian Mae Martin. Something strange is going on in this town – is this a cult or a sci-fi experiment or secret X-Men mutant school what? Ready for streaming starting in September coming up soon. Nothing is what it seems in the town of Tall Pines. After an escape attempt from an academy for “troubled teens”, two students join forces with a newly local police officer, unearthing the town’s dark and deeply rooted secrets. “The eternal struggle of the next generation…” The small-town cop suspects that the local school for teens — and its dangerously charismatic founder — may not be all it seems. The new series stars Mae Martin, Sarah Gadon, Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Brandon Jay McLaren, and Toni Collette as Evelyn, the very mysterious founder of the academy. Along with Tattiawna Jones, Isolde Ardies, and Joshua Close. I’m curious to learn more about Tall Pines’ mysteries. “The only way out of here is through that door…” So what’s behind that door? This is such a spooky concept with so many weird things shown in this trailer. What is really going on there? Any ideas?

Here’s the full official trailer (+ poster) for Mae Martin’s series Wayward, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

Wayward Trailer

Wayward Poster

“We think you’ll be very happy here.” 🚪 In the picture-perfect town of Tall Pines, sinister secrets lurk behind every closed door. Not long after police officer Alex Dempsey (Mae Martin) and his pregnant wife Laura (Sarah Gadon) move into their new home, he connects with two students Abbie (Sydney Topliffe) and Leila (Alyvia Alyn Lind) from the local school for “troubled teens” who are desperate to escape and could be the key to unearthing everything rotten within the town. As Alex begins investigating a series of unusual incidents, he suspects that Evelyn (Toni Collette), the school’s mysterious leader, might be at the center of all the problems. Created by Mae Martin, Wayward is a thrilling and genre-bending limited series about the eternal struggle between one generation and the next, what happens when friendship and loyalty are put to the ultimate test, and how buried truths always find a way of coming up to the surface.

Wayward is a new original series created by Canadian comedian / writer Mae Martin, creator of the “Feel Good” series, and a writer on the “Baroness Von Sketch Show” and “Benefits with Friends” podcast. It’s co-showrun by Mae Martin & Ryan Scott. Writing by Mae Martin, Ryan Scott, Evangeline Ordaz, Mohamad El Masri, Kim Steele, Kayla Lorette, Alex Elbridge, Misha Osherovich. The Festival of Eventing 2025 debuts in Cape Town

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

The inaugural Festival of Eventing (FOE) brought together 350 event professionals, 85 speakers, and 10 countries under one roof for a two-day showcase of innovation, inspiration, and industry connection. From cutting-edge event tech to sustainability-led activations, FOE set the stage for what the future of eventing in Africa could look like — and the industry responded with enthusiasm, energy, and a shared commitment to collaboration.

Hosted at the Century City Conference Centre from 8–9 August 2025, the Festival opened with an unforgettable ceremony featuring Danielle Bitton and the Ithemba Youth Choir, a spellbinding set from Mo Magic, and dynamic hosting from Alan Committie alongside FOE’s AI assistant, Ask Nia. The programme spanned masterclass circles, international keynotes, networking breaks, and interactive exhibitions, culminating in The Eventurers’ Soirée — a sunset celebration of community and creativity.

“We set out to create more than a conference — we wanted an experience that would leave people thinking, feeling, and connecting differently,” says the Founders of the Festival of Eventing: Keshni Reddy, Devi Paulsen-Abbott and Betty Sichivula. “Seeing the calibre of speakers, the quality of conversations, and the sense of unity in the room exceeded every expectation.”

Across the two days, delegates explored topics ranging from experiential marketing to future event design, data-driven personalisation, sustainability, and leadership in a tech-driven world. Highlights included an international keynote from Lorne Sulcas – The Big Cat Guy, wellness sessions with Chair Pilates and Sunrise of Strength & Serenity, a sponsored luncheon by Old Mutual, and buzzing networking zones where authentic connections were forged.

“This event was a love letter to our industry,” says Betty Sichivula, FOE Co-Founder. “It was built on the belief that Africa’s eventing sector has world-class talent, ideas, and stories to share — and this was the platform to showcase them.”

“We’re walking away inspired, grateful, and already dreaming about what 2026 will bring,” adds Devi Paulsen-Abbott, FOE Co-Founder. “And we want the next one to be bigger, bolder, and even more collaborative.”

FOE’s 2025 edition would not have been possible without the support of its partners, including the City of Cape Town as Host City and Century City Conference Centre as Venue Sponsor. The inaugural edition featured an impressive list of partners across the event industry supply chain and garnered support from major industry associations like the Association of African Exhibition Organisers (AAXO), the Exhibitions and Events Association of South Africa (EXSA), the Event Greening Forum (EGF), the Southern African Communications Industries Association (SACIA) and The International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA).

Festival of Eventing 2026 – Cape Town
Dates and venue will be announced soon. Partnership, sponsorship, and speaking opportunities are now open.

A Message from the Founders

“As co-founders with decades of experience launching, managing, and transforming some of Africa’s most prestigious events, exhibitions, conferences, and meetings, we’ve seen firsthand the triumphs and trials of this industry. And we know one thing for sure: it’s time we had an event that celebrates the industry while equipping us all to tackle its ever-evolving challenges.

For far too long, event professionals have worked in silos, navigating an ever-changing landscape without a true community to lean on. That changes now. We created the Festival of Eventing not just as a platform for knowledge exchange but as a space where we can connect, learn, and elevate the industry together.”

How This Historic Croatian Resort Town Became an Under-the-Radar Wellness Hotspot

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

The idea of health and wellness tourism tends to conjure a few powerful images. Angry red scalps boarding flights back from Turkey after successful hair transplants, perhaps, or the experimental lasers and injectables of South Korea, known for their precision and perfectly sterile facilities. The Balkans do not often register. Here, the approach to wellness is admittedly gentler, and prioritizes using the natural elements all around us.

For centuries, locals have been soaking in mineral-rich hot springs under ancient Orthodox monasteries and drinking herbal tea gathered by elders and dried by hand. Thermal baths, called banjas, are strewn all over the region and available to all who need their healing waters. It is customary to go after birth, surgery, or really any time your body needs special care. In the Balkans, wellness is not a trend—it’s a longstanding tradition, passed down from generation to generation of grandmothers (mine among them).

At a very young age, we are taught what teas to drink to help with various ailments and what flowers to dress our wounds with (yarrow, usually). Our mothers slip us a lick of liquor made of aronia berries for the antioxidants and send us out to the sea to clear our acne with salt water.

Long before the first nightclub opened on Hvar, people had been traveling to the Balkans to heal. Monastic communities valiantly preserved herbal medicine traditions throughout the Middle Ages. When the Hygienic Society of Hvar was founded in 1868, it marked the very start of modern health tourism. But wellness in this part of the Adriatic coast predates even that. The UNESCO-protected town of Stari Grad is older than Rome: a quiet, cobblestoned sanctuary that sits in stark contrast to the busy, bar-lined streets of Hvar Town.

The streets of Stari Grad.
