Spitting Image team say they’re “baffled” by Paddington Bear lawsuit

by jummy84 October 9, 2025
written by jummy84

While most politicians and pop culture figures of the time took their puppet parodies (fairly) on the chin, the new revival of the veteran comedy show has ruffled someone’s feathers… or should we say fur.

Created by Al Murray and Matt Forde, the new Spitting Image revival, now available on YouTube, made headlines this week when it was revealed that StudioCanal, the French film and television production company behind the Paddington movies, and the Bond estate have filed a High Court complaint over copyright and design right concerns, following the depiction of the beloved bear.

“We’re baffled by that, to be honest,” says Murray. ‘If we were going to expect anything, it would be a hard stare from Paddington.”

Their radical reimagining of the sweet-natured bear sees Paddington as a foul-mouthed, crazy-eyed Pablo Escobar-esque parody, with a penchant for powder over marmalade sandwiches. He host’s the shows podcast ‘The Rest is Bullsh*t’, a parody of the Goalhanger ‘Rest is’ sphere, alongside an equally caricatured Prince Harry.

“If you’re looking for [podcast] hosts, you need two national treasures. There were the first names on the team sheet,” says Forde.

While his characterisation may be extreme, Forde and Murray insist it is only intended for purely comedic purposes.

“It’s the oldest thing in comedy,” explains Murray. “We’re not saying we’ve done anything particularly original. [Paddington] is normally presented as this very ‘goody-two-shoes’ character and we’ve flipped him over. It’s a very Spitting Image thing to do – to take someone and say ‘Hey, maybe they’re the opposite.’”

“I mean, they’ve fallen into a bear trap of their own making,” says Forde. “We’re getting tons more views as a result of the lawsuits publicity, so more people are watching this depiction of Paddington that they don’t want anyone to see.”

Is it potentially a case of miscommunication involving the ‘British sense of humour’?

“I mean taking the piss is a great British value, as is having a sense of humour about ourselves,” says Murray. “But there obviously has been a drift towards people who want to shut other people’s jokes up – and it’s weird, it seems like an attack on comedy really.”

“In my experience, people find you funny taking the p**s out of things, until you take the p**s out of something they like. Then they don’t find you funny anymore.”

But it’s the fact the call for legal action has come from fellow creatives that really surprises the pair.

“I would imagine that the people at StudioCanal who’ve come to this are the sorts of people who not long ago were pretty outraged by Jimmy Kimmel being pulled off air,” explains Murray. “If they’re sensitive, creative people that’s probably how they felt about it.”

“But they’re trying to do that to our absurdist, ridiculous Paddington and that leaves me scratching my head.”

Whilst they may see a funny side in the call for legal action, (“We are literally talking about a fictional bear and a puppet show!” exclaims Murray at one point) the pair recognise that the dispute over their depiction of Paddington highlights a wider conversation on freedom of speech in our current political climate.

“It’s terrifying that pressure can come from all sorts of different places,” says Forde. “I think the risk is that these kinds of authoritarian instincts exist on left and right.

“They exist in governments; they exist in corporations. We’re living in an era where politicians can get you taken off the air and the consequences of that – and it’s not just comedy – will close people in all sorts of other industries down.

“People need to be careful about thinking. ‘Well, I never liked Jimmy Kimmel anyway, so I’m fine with it’ because eventually, they will get round to you, and they will shut you up.

“Comedy is an easy first target because people don’t like being laughed at, but it’s not comedy that they have an issue with. It’s the freedom of speech.”

Their new YouTube show was born out of the success of their live theatre production – Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical created by Murray and Forde, alongside Sean Foley. It was during this run they realised the new medium of theatre, unlike TV, avoided outsider input in what content their show could cover.

“There was no one between us and the audience,” explains Murray, “That was what was brilliant about it.”

“As stand-ups we’re used to that,” agrees Forde, “You write it, you perform it and there is a purity in that. Once it filters through more layers, it becomes tamer, and I think in the modern era people want comedy like this to really pack a punch.”

Their YouTube series is not the first revival of the iconic ’80s show. Spitting Image was briefly resurrected in 2021, with both Murray and Forde working on the show as writers and voice actor respectively, parodying a new cast of political and pop culture figures, from Donald Trump to Greta Thunberg. It was cancelled by ITV after just two series.

Hosting their show on YouTube has allowed for this greater freedom when creating the satirical sketches.

“The danger sometimes with television is it becomes very bureaucratic and slow,” says Forde. “The comedy can almost get legislated out of a sketch. I think this smaller team and nimbler production has allowed it to just hit harder.”

And it seems the public would agree. The show’s viewing numbers on YouTube have hit nearly 12 million views and is reaching millions more across other streaming platforms.

The pair believe the media reaction highlights a clear appetite for cutting political satire and hope to bring the beloved classic to the smartphone generation.

“There are different themes, different celebrities, that you want to be lampooning,” says Forde. “To be able to apply that in 2025 when you’ve got TikTok and X and Instagram and make something the younger generation really love – that’s a real thrill.”

It’s not just Paddington viewers can tune into watch; the show parodies a host of recognisable figures faces, from Taylor Swift to Vladamir Putin. But for Forde, with his spot-on impersonation, his favourite has to be Trump.

“Trump is so much fun,” he says. “The puppet is phenomenal; it’s a grotesque recreation of him. When we’re writing and ad-libbing in the room, you’re inside the mind of this maniac and we have the tools to bring him to life in our own way.”

Parodying figures from all reals of the political spectrum, the pair maintain they never let their personal politics influence their character choices or depictions either.

“They’re all fair game and it’s just so much fun taking the p**s out of them,” says Forde. “But for each one there must be that grain of truth to it. It must be silly and big and daft, but you need to hit upon something that people recognise in those characters.

“In a way, the politics falls away from it. These are characters you’re satirising. They just happen to be political ones.”

“If the impression goes with the puppet,” says Murray, “…it doesn’t need to be laser point accurate because the puppets, after all, aren’t. They’ve got the essence of the person… it’s like, as Matt’s saying, it’s got to have the grain of truth in it. And then you dial it all up.”

The current run of Spitting Image will last for 12 episodes, but what about the show’s future?

“We’re seeing if it’ll work and whether the audience will come to it,” says Murray. “And we haven’t got to wait for someone to say yes, you spend so much time in comedy coming up with things and having to wait for someone to say yes.”

“I mean purely as a viewer, you think, why are these things so rare?” continues Forde. “It’s immensely frustrating that Spitting Image wasn’t around for so long.

“So many of the things we’ve done even in the last two episodes have gone viral, so there is a huge appetite for this sort of comedy. You want it to always be around.”

And what about our furry friend? It looks like he’ll be sticking around – he’s not heading back to Peru just yet.

‘I think if you were to ask our Paddington…” teases Forde. “You know, he’s an energetic guy, wants to work a lot…”

Spitting Image is available now on YouTube.

Yami Gautam In Talks To Team Up With Kriti Sanon For Aanand L Rai’s Folklore Film Nayi Naveli: Deets Inside!

Yami Gautam is reportedly in talks with director Aanand L Rai to play a parallel lead in his upcoming fantasy film, Nayi Naveli, starring Kriti Sanon. The film draws inspiration from Indian folk tales, and the makers are keen to have Yami on board. Yami has recently resumed work after her maternity leave. Meanwhile, her next film, Haq, is set to release in theatres on November 7. Reports suggest that the discussions are ongoing, and if finalized, Yami will join Kriti in bringing this folk-inspired fantasy story to the big screen, adding excitement for audiences.

Yami Gautam in talks for Nayi Naveli?

A source familiar with the matter told Mid-Day: “Rai has been particular about the story’s tone — he wants it to feel rooted in Indian folk tradition, but have a big-screen fantasy appeal. Casting Kriti was the first step because she has the acting prowess and star presence required for the role. She will be seen as part-folklore heroine, and part-mystical warrior. Now, they are in talks with Yami for a meaty role. The two actors haven’t shared screen space before, and that novelty will grab eyeballs.”

The source further mentioned, “Kriti is occupied with Tere Ishk Mein promotions throughout October, while Yami is tied up with Haq, which releases in early November. If Yami comes on board, the idea is to begin workshops and costume trials by November so that the shoot can start in December.”

About Haq

Yami Gautam movie Haq

Yami’s Haq, featuring Emraan Hashmi, starts as a love story but quickly evolves into a deeper conflict between a husband and wife. What seems like a personal disagreement turns into a larger discussion about important social issues that remain relevant today, such as faith, identity, liberalism, personal beliefs, and the law. At the heart of the story is the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) under Article 44, raising questions about its impact on society. The film also features Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, and Aseem Hattangady in key roles, adding depth and intensity to the narrative.

[Update] Future’s Team Denies Role In V*olent Tokyo Nightclub Brawl As A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Camp Takes The Heat

Future’s team is clearing the air after chaos broke out at a Tokyo nightclub over the weekend.

“Future’s crew was not involved in the ‘Magic City’ brawl whatsoever,” Future’s team shared in a statement with TMZ.

All eyes are now on A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and his entourage, who were caught in a massive brawl that erupted inside Zouk Japan during the Magic City Takeover event. The Bronx rapper was seen in the thick of it, standing on a platform in bright yellow Air Jordan 5s, reportedly looking for something to throw.

Eyewitnesses say A Boogie’s team appeared to be the most aggressive in the melee, though it remains unclear what sparked the v*olence. A clip obtained by TMZ shows the aftermath of the brawl, with money scattered across the floor and dancers fleeing the scene. No arrests have been reported at this time.

What are your thoughts on this brawl?

Bad Bunny, Doja Cat Team Up in Season Premiere Promo

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Bad Bunny and Doja Cat purposely don’t vibe with Chloe Fineman’s humor in the silly promo spot for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live episode.

The clip, shared by NBC on Thursday (Oct. 2), features three takes from the trio previewing what’s to come on SNL‘s season premiere on Oct. 4, when Bad Bunny will host and Doja Cat will appear as musical guest. Fineman is among the regulars on the show, though several castmates departed ahead of Season 51.

“Hi, I’m Bad Bunny, and I’ll be hosting the season premiere of SNL this week with Doja Cat,” Benito says in the first take. Fineman cuts in to quip, “Bad Bunny. Doja Cat. And I’m Chloe Salamander.”

In take two, Bad Bunny hypes up the Super Bowl — on which he’ll headline the halftime show — and shrugs off the excitement of being on SNL.

And in take three, Doja Cat puts her trust in Bad Bunny (instead of cast member Fineman) when it comes to expertise on being in front of the SNL camera. “Chloe, he’s done this before,” she says.

Following the Oct. 4 season premiere, this season’s lineup so far includes SNL veteran Amy Poehler as host with first-time musical guest Role Model on Oct. 11, and Sabrina Carpenter as host and musical guest on Oct. 18. Though it’ll mark Carpenter’s debut as host, she’s no stranger to the Studio 8H stage, having performed on Saturday Night Live in 2024 and during the SNL50: The Anniversary Special earlier this year.

Tomorrow X Together have teamed up with UNICEF to launch a new youth mental health campaign – find out more below.

On Tuesday (September 30), Tomorrow X Together (TXT), their label Big Hit Music and global charity organisation United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) announced a new partnership through the launch of a youth mental health campaign.

Launched at the UNICEF headquarters in New York, the campaign – titled Together For Tomorrow – will aim for TXT’s growing fanbase to encourage and promote open conversations and support for mental health among young people.

Through the partnership, TXT and Big Hit Music have pledged US$1.4million over two years to UNICEF, with plans to raise additional funds through fan engagement and other activities. The funds provided and raised by TXT will go towards various mental health programmes and efforts to provide children, teens and their caregivers with practical ways of taking care of their mental health. It will also support the training of professionals working with young people and used to fund research for mental health data.

Tomorrow X Together said in a statement: “Whenever we faced struggles in our lives, empathy, kindness and inclusion have helped us build stronger connections and find our way forward. With far too many young people today experiencing mental health challenges, we are proud to join UNICEF in encouraging young people to have respectful interactions, celebrate diversity, and support peers who may feel isolated. Together we can build the supportive relationships young people need for a compassionate, resilient tomorrow.”

Elijah Wood & SpectreVision Team Talk 'Rabbit Trap's 70s Folk Horror

Elijah Wood & SpectreVision Team Talk ‘Rabbit Trap’s 70s Folk Horror

by jummy84 October 2, 2025
written by jummy84

While the 70s electronic music and Celtic folk horror vibes of writer/director Bryn Chainey‘s Rabbit Trap make it ideal for a cozy autumn movie night, they also make up the unique cross-section that attracted the team behind SpectreVision to the project.

With the film now available on digital after premiering earlier this year at Sundance, Deadline caught up with producers Elijah Wood, Lawrence Inglee and Daniel Noah about finding projects that fit their banner’s “full spectrum of weird,” like Rabbit Trap.

Wood said he knew the film was “very much up our alley” after fellow producer Elisa Lleras sent them a lookbook for Bryn’s project, “a movie set in the Welsh countryside in 1970s, whose one of the primary characters is a female electronic musician sort of in the tradition of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, these sort of electronic pioneers that are obsessed with. And it’s a folk horror film that we utilizes sound as its primary means of infiltration.”

“It spoke to all of our individual niche interests, so beautifully, and had such a clear vision that felt unlike anything we’d seen, that sort of was able to combine these elements,” added Wood. “And then you pair that with a filmmaker who has such an articulate vision for what he wants to accomplish and how he wants to accomplish it. We were so on board.”

In Rabbit Trap, musician couple Daphne (Rosy McEwen) and Darcy Davenport (Dev Patel) move to the Welsh countryside to finish their new record. While making field recordings in the ancient woodlands, Darcy captures a forbidden sound not meant for human ears. This brings a strange boy (Jade Croot) to their doorstep who draws them into an enigmatic realm where the line between reality and myth begins to blur.

For Noah, he appreciated that the script “doesn’t feel like it’s slave-ish to explaining itself, and it has the courage to be a little mysterious, to be a little ambiguous, which is something that is all too missing in cinema today.

“I think there’s this almost fearful compulsion to over-explain everything, and that’s not how life works,” he explained. “Life is mysterious and ambiguous, and so the film to us, is a beautiful representation of that type of experience that is just not captured very often in movies.”

As the film navigates the couple’s turbulent marriage and their decision to have baby, their strange visitor brings up old traumas for Darcy, which are explored ambiguously through sound and magic.

“What a remarkable environment and atmosphere to come at these sort of things, like unspoken traumas or anxieties about family, or a sense of the strange or where you’re being led,” said Inglee. “All these things were at play here.”

With a comic book, a podcast and a new Norwegian horror film also in the pipeline, read on about the SpectreVision team’s experience making Rabbit Trap, now available on digital.

DEADLINE: I loved Rabbit Trap, I saw it at Sundance. Tell me what you guys first thought when you read the script and how it fit into the SpectreVision mission.

LAWRENCE INGLEE: Let’s first say that it is a beautifully written script, right? Bryn is an exceptionally good writer, and the notion of rendering those descriptions into cinema would have been one of the big giant question marks when you first read the script because they were so elegant and beautiful.

Jade Croot and Rosy McEwen in ‘Rabbit Trap’ (2025) (Magnet Releasing/Courtesy Everett Collection)

ELIJAH WOOD: We were sent the lookbook from a colleague who’s also a producer on the movie, Elisa Lleras, who knows our taste, and read the script and saw this lookbook, and knew that it would be very much up our alley; a movie set in the Welsh countryside in 1970s, whose one of the primary characters is a female electronic musician sort of in the tradition of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, these sort of electronic pioneers that are obsessed with. And it’s a folk horror film that we utilizes sound as its primary means of infiltration. It spoke to all of our individual niche interests, so beautifully, and had such a clear vision that felt unlike anything we’d seen, that sort of was able to combine these elements. And then you pair that with a filmmaker who has such an articulate vision for what he wants to accomplish and how he wants to accomplish it. We were so on board.

DEADLINE: Can you tell me a little bit about some of those cult influences that went into the making of this?

DANIEL NOAH: I think some of what Elijah just mentioned, Delia Derbyshire and Suzanne Ciani and Daphne Oram, they’re sometimes cheekily called the ‘Sisters with Transistors’, but there was this movement of these incredibly brilliant British women in late 50s and early 60s who were absolutely breaking ground in experimental electronic music, and we’re huge geeks for that period. So, a movie about that was really thrilling. But I think in the cinema tip, there’s a great legacy of folk horror from the 70s, like Witchfinder General and Wicker Man, they have this this very peculiar haunting quality, but I think the biggest one was we talked a lot about Don’t Look Now and it’s kind of kaleidoscopic view of events. And one of the things I think that really thrilled us so much about Rabbit Trap is that it doesn’t feel like it’s slave-ish to explaining itself, and it has the courage to be a little mysterious, to be a little ambiguous, which is something that is all too missing in cinema today. I think there’s this almost fearful compulsion to over-explain everything, and that’s not how life works. Life is mysterious and ambiguous, and so the film to us, is a beautiful representation of that type of experience that is just not captured very often in movies.

INGLEE: And also, it was a representative of a way of trying to find a language to express things that you don’t know how to express, this poetic foundation. And we’ve all looked at this movie in different ways, and it can work like a Rorschach test in that sense, but for me, I read a script that was about the fear of having children for people who have been traumatized as children, and being aided in that healing from a supernatural force that’s walking them, dragging them through this healing in the middle of a marriage in crisis. What a remarkable environment and atmosphere to come at these sort of things, like unspoken traumas or anxieties about family, or a sense of the strange or where you’re being led. All these things were at play here, and just the literal texture of the movie itself was so unique and so beautiful that its relationship to the natural world, I think that’s another element that drew us in, and its commitment to the local nature of its mythology.

Dev Patel in ‘Rabbit Trap’ (2025) (Magnet Releasing/Courtesy Everett Collection)

DEADLINE: I really love the the whole Celtic folklore that I feel like I’ve seen a few movies lately that have really been channeling that, and this really expanded my love of that sub-genre. Tell me a little bit about filming in that specific location, with that beautiful countryside.

NOAH: It was a really glorious surprise to many of us who haven’t been there before, and one of the dark secrets of the movie, which I’ll reveal … is that it was shot in Yorkshire, even though it’s set in Wales. And this had to do with the smoking. The characters, of course, exist in the mid-70s, they smoke. It’s against the law to smoke in a workplace in Wales, so the production moved just like this, and we got to live in an equally magical world that sort of spoke back to the movie in many ways. Like every location scout starts to tell you about your movie in ways that you don’t expect, and here, our jaw kept dropping. It’s like, “There really is this cave? Wait, there really is cliff? There really is that forest?” And what have you. And so, every day it was an element that surprised us. Also, the weather was so wildly unpredictable. The movie was being shot in July, and there are days that it was like, “Oh, it’s winter today, everybody, and it’s going to be wet and cold like you have never felt before in your life in the middle of July in this forest.” So that was happening too.

DEADLINE: I really did love the whole element of sound in the movie and the way music is utilized as well. Can you tell me about working on that on the technical side and some of the challenges?

INGLEE: Sound’s always been extremely primary for us, and we love to be in the mix. The mix is my favorite part of the filmmaking process, personally, and have mixed our movies in sort of slightly unusual ways, not to get too much into the weeds. But, one of the things we’ve often said is that it’s not necessarily correct to separate score and sound design, because every sound that you hear in a movie is part of the its music, and so this was a place we could actually literalize that. So, [sound designer] Graham Reznick and [composer] Lucrecia Dalt worked in tandem, and it’s difficult to kind of say who did what because they just built this sonic universe together that’s so incredibly alive, and so to get to have an opportunity to make a movie that’s literally about sound, not just celebrating sound in its creation, but about sound, was like a bucket list item.

Rosy McEwen in ‘Rabbit Trap’ (2025) (Magnet Releasing/Courtesy Everett Collection)

DEADLINE: You touched on this earlier, just about accepting the trauma that we experience as children and trying not to inflict that on our own children, and that was another thing I really appreciated, how this movie explores so much sound, but when Dev’s character is finally ready to say what happened to him, that’s the one time you don’t need to hear it, you just know that he’s healing.

NOAH: I mean, it was a hot topic of conversation, and this may be shocking, but there were certain voices that felt we should hear what he’s saying on that tape, which we were just absolutely insistent on not doing it. I think one of the most thrilling moments for me was—when you’re workshopping and edit, you show the movie to friends—and so, we screened and edit of it, and in the scene where Dev tells a secret that we don’t hear, my friend next to me was like sobbing, and when the movie was over, I said, “You were really affected by the end. Can you tell me, what do you think was on the tape?” And he said, “Oh, it’s so obvious, they’re getting a divorce.” Well, he was getting a divorce. And I thought, “We nailed it. Everyone’s gonna put their particular issue on that recording.” And it was exactly what we hoped would happen.

DEADLINE: That’s great. Yeah, I love, like you said, leaving it up to the audience to kind of make up their own mind. I really appreciate that.

WOOD: Because, it sort of doesn’t matter what it is. It’s just that he had a trauma that he’s now articulated. And like Daniel said, it’s for the audience to kind of put their own experience on it, to make of it what they want, you know?

DEADLINE: Absolutely. What else does SpectreVision have going on right now?

INGLEE: We have our comic book imprint now with Oni Press called High Strangeness, it’s a series of stories about the paranormal, and the first issue was released on October 8, and we’re very excited about it. The first season is five interconnected stories, about different paranormal phenomena. And we also recently rolled out this podcast network called SpectreVision Radio, which is this extremely comprehensive overview of anything in any way related to genre or esotericism or the paranormal or consciousness, psychedelics, the full spectrum of weird, so it’s all part of the story that we’re telling with SpectreVision throughout our different divisions.

Jade Croot in ‘Rabbit Trap’ (2025) (Magnet Releasing/Courtesy Everett Collection)

DEADLINE: Awesome. That sounds cool. Are you maybe considering adapting the comic books for film or television?

WOOD: Potentially. It happens to be a great space to sort of incubate something. It wasn’t necessarily the intention behind this, it was really like wanting to partner with a company we loved. And Oni’s awesome, and they had this opportunity for us. So, it was something that we had wanted to express for a while, and it just kind of all coalesced. So yeah, maybe, we’ll see. And we also have a Norwegian film that is premiering at Fantastic Fest in a few days, called Dawning [aka Demring], that we’re really excited about, from a really thrilling Norwegian filmmaker [Patrik Syversen], who’s made something really singular and special that I think is gonna freak some people out. It’s great.

Sports Team cancel European dates as they “couldn’t justify the financial risk”

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Sports Team have cancelled some of their European dates due to not being able to “justify” the financial risks associated with putting on shows.

The band, who were meant to tour in European cities including Oslo, Berlin, Barcelona and Copenhagen this autumn, said that they will have to postpone some of these shows.

Announcing the news on Instagram, they shared that this is something that goes against “everything” they want to do, and apologised to fans for the impact of this decision.

“Cancelling shows goes against everything we want to do,” the statement said. “We’re a band because we love playing live. We once drove 24 hours through the night from London to get to a show in Munich. There were 12 people there and the next day we drove back to Birmingham for the next show. Nobody slept. Most of us cried. It was hell. I’d do it again tomorrow.

“We’ve done plenty of shows that haven’t made money. Touring as a six piece band is an extremely stupid business model. Normally we’re able to make things work, this time we couldn’t justify the financial risk.”

Sports Team confirmed they will still play Here’s The Thing Festival, Madrid, Paris and Antwerp, but said the “rest will have to come later”. All UK tour dates are scheduled to go ahead as planned.

Read the full statement below.

Sports Team are not the only band to have cancelled due to financial concerns. In July, Irish band The Murder Capital also cancelled the US and Canadian leg of their tour due to “unforeseen financial challenges” and uncertainty.

This, they explained, was due to financial struggles and uncertainties around travel. No replacement dates were scheduled.

“With heavy hearts, we have to cancel our tour this autumn due to unforeseen financial challenges and the ongoing travel uncertainties,” their statement read on social media. “This is a bitter pill to swallow. We hope you know how much we wanted to be out there playing these shows for ye all.”

It comes as the number of artists touring across the UK and abroad has fallen by as much as 74 per cent compared to pre-pandemic figures.  The country’s music scene continues to face the “complete collapse” of touring with huge areas going without live music, one venue closing every two weeks, and the uphill struggle for artists affording to exist, let alone play live.

A proposed £1 levy on gigs at arena level and above – designed to feed back into the grassroots for artists and promoters as well as venues and festivals – continues to gather steam, but debate surrounds its speed and where the pressure should be applied for more action.

This included a showing of the money made from show fees and merch sales, as well as outgoings including travel, haulage, accommodation, crew wages and essentials such as food.

In total, for the one-off gig that the band played at Dublin venue the Button Factory, they earned £6,151.59. However, they spent £7,863.88, resulting in a total loss of £1,712.29.

Back in May, Wolf Alice‘s Joff Oddie joined industry leaders at a government hearing into the state of UK grassroots music, where it was warned that not enough progress was being made in saving venues and new artists.

Last year, DJ Shadow shared his thoughts on the current touring crisis, saying the industry is close to “extinction”.

Additionally, back in 2022, various figures from the UK music industry spoke to NME about how the first summer of post-pandemic touring revealed that the complications of Brexit were “strangling the next generation of UK talent in the cradle”.

NME gave Sports Team’s latest album ‘Boys These Days’ four stars in a review. It commended its fun-spirited approach to tackling toxic masculinity, and by giving a distinct sound to the band.

“On ‘Boys These Days’, Sports Team flip the narrative of an increasingly stark, divided world to embrace the childlike side of human nature, staying true to that foundational principle of the band,” it read.

“Sonically, it’s a step up from the guitar-driven mayhem that characterised their roots, without just slapping some synths on top like many of their indie counterparts. In reality, they’ve never sounded closer to that wacky, eccentric live band down your local on a Friday night – and maybe that’s where their truest form lies.”

FAMU Apologizes After Alabama State’s Dance Team Is Mocked

Florida A&M University is doing damage control after a halftime moment at Bragg Memorial Stadium went viral for all the wrong reasons.

On Saturday (Sept. 27), FAMU President Marva Johnson issued a public apology to Alabama State University after their “Rattlers” band announcer made an offensive remark about ASU’s beloved Honey Beez dance team.

The Honey Beez — who are the full-figured dance team that performs alongside the Mighty Marching Hornets — had just wrapped their halftime performance during the FAMU-ASU matchup when announcer Joe Bullard referred to them as “the new face of Ozempic.”

The shocking comment citing the diabetes and weight-loss drug left the entire stadium gasping in disbelief. Watch below.

The remark made waves on social media, sparking outrage and disappointment across the HBCU community. ASU President Dr. Quinton T. Ross Jr. quickly addressed the incident in a statement on Facebook, calling the words “short-sighted” and stressing that “to have their artistry disrespected after such a performance is unacceptable.”

He added that he had already spoken with both Johnson and the Southwestern Athletic Conference commissioner.

In response, Johnson issued her own statement apologizing directly to ASU, the Honey Beez, and Hornet Nation. “I conveyed my regret and reaffirmed that such comments are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” she wrote, promising accountability and new measures to prevent a repeat of the incident. Johnson also praised the Honey Beez, describing them as a team that “represents discipline, school pride, and performance tradition respected across the nation.”

Many people sided with Johnson, calling out the announcer’s words as out of step with the community FAMU claims to represent. “As an HBCU grad and parent of two current Rattlers, one of which is a classically trained dancer, I was appalled and repulsed at the insensitive comment,” one supporter wrote on Facebook. “Bravo to the President for issuing this apology to ASU and the Honey Beez.”

Not everyone, however, is calling for Bullard’s removal. Miami Hip-Hop legend, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, defended his longtime friend. Taking to Facebook, he noted that while the announcer “deeply regrets” his words, the path forward should be a public apology to the Honey Beez and appropriate disciplinary action, but not result in “termination.”

The drama capped off an already tough night for FAMU, as Alabama State handed FAMU a 41-14 loss in their SWAC opener.

In 2011, Luv Ranjan and Kartik Aaryan collaborated for the first time on Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which unexpectedly became a success and gained a cult status among moviegoers. They collaborated again in 2015 for the sequel to Pyaar Ka Punchnama, which successfully continued the tradition of the first film and was well-received by audiences everywhere. They achieved a hat-trick in 2018 with Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, a box office success that also holds a special place in the hearts of the youth.

Seven years after the remarkable success of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan are reportedly teaming up once more. Reports by Pinkvilla suggest that Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan are collaborating on a project that promises to be a complete entertainer, much like their previous successful films. A source close to the development revealed, “Luv Ranjan, and Kartik Aaryan have always been discussing a potential collaboration, and there’s finally a script that warrants the union of this duo responsible for as many as three pathbreaking entertainers. The film rolls in 2026 and is presently in the pre-production stage.”

While specific project details remain confidential, the source confirms that both Luv Ranjan and Kartik Aaryan are enthusiastic about their collaboration. The source added, “The film will mark the fifth collaboration for Kartik and Luv, which is one of the longest-standing actor-director relationship in the modern era.”

The casting and other aspects of the film will be locked in the coming months. The source concluded, “The Luv Ranjan style entertainment, will be packaged with strong music. It’s going to be Kartik Aaryan in an avatar that audiences love to see him in.” While Kartik Aaryan is currently busy prepping for his film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri to hit theatres on December 31, 2025, Luv Ranjan is set to release De De Pyaar De 2 on November 14, 2025.
