Tovino Thomas Steps Into The Spotlight As Lokah Chapter 2 Teaser Drops

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra has rewritten box office history for Malayalam cinema. The fantasy action drama not only stormed past previous records to become the industry’s top-grossing film worldwide, but it continues to hold strong weeks after release. With India collections already crossing the ₹125 crore mark, the film’s numbers prove its extraordinary reach and hint at the appetite for its growing universe.

Against this backdrop, Wayfarer Films has dropped a surprise teaser for Lokah Chapter 2, directed once again by Dominic Arun. The big reveal? Tovino Thomas’ Michael, also known as Chathan, will take centre stage in the follow-up, while Dulquer Salmaan’s Charlie, the Odiyan, returns in a supporting but crucial capacity.

Inside the Teaser: Chathan’s Rise and Charlie’s Reluctance

The three-minute promo unfolds like a playful exchange between two old friends. Charlie teases Michael by calling him “boring,” only for Michael to retort that he is anything but. In fact, he quips that he and his 389 brothers share a penchant for drinking — a darkly comic touch that nods to his supernatural origins.

The conversation takes a turn when Michael references the book They Live Among Us, reminding viewers that the first chapter revolved around Kalliyankattu Neeli. Now, he declares, the second instalment will be his story. Michael then probes Charlie about whether he will join him if trouble arises. Charlie declines, saying family matters are not his business, but Michael insists he will rope him in regardless.

The teaser ends with an ominous sketch of Michael surrounded by his brothers, the air thick with betrayal as they appear ready to turn against one another. This closing image sets the tone for Chapter 2: a narrative that blends myth and magic with the tension of a family feud spiraling out of control.

A Universe Growing in Scale and Mystery

The promo makes it clear that Lokah is expanding beyond a single hero’s journey. With Chathan stepping forward, the series has the chance to explore darker shades of folklore, more complex moral conflicts, and an even larger canvas of mythic battles. For Tovino, it’s another feather in his cap as he shoulders a franchise that’s already captured the audience’s imagination.

Meanwhile, Dulquer’s Charlie remains a compelling presence, the Odiyan who may be unwillingly dragged into a fight that is not his own. The chemistry between the two actors, already evident in the playful promo, promises sparks in the sequel.

If Chapter 1 was about establishing the Lokah universe, the sequel seems intent on deepening it — with sibling rivalries, supernatural clashes, and shifting loyalties at its core. The bar has been set sky-high, and Lokah Chapter 2 looks ready to rise to the occasion.

Sylvia Rhone Steps Down As CEO Of Epic Records

by jummy84 September 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Sylvia Rhone, the CEO and chair of Epic Records, announced on Monday (Sept. 21) that she is stepping down from the role.

First named chair and CEO back in 2019 following a five-year stint as President of Epic, Rhone is one of the industry’s most prolific executives, having been the first woman and the first Black woman to be named CEO of a major record label. Her successor has yet to be named.

She shared the news via an internal memo.

“It’s been an extraordinary journey: eleven years since my promotion to President of Epic Records and six years since my appointment as Chairwoman and CEO. This role at Epic represents the third time in my career that I’ve been the first woman and first Black person to serve as CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company. And today, I am moving on from this historic role at Epic and I’m very excited about the future,” the 73-year-old wrote.

Rhone reflected on her historic journey, having worked with the likes of Missy Elliott, Travis Scott, Future, 21 Savage, Tyla, GIVĒON, Mariah The Scientist, Q-Tip, Andre 3000 and more.

Sony Music Group chairman Rob Stringer, who appointed Rhone to her CEO role back in 2019, said in his own statement: “It’s been our honor to work with a true icon,” describing it “our collective responsibility to continue to build on her work at Epic Records.”

Stringer added, “In an industry defined by its constant evolution, Sylvia has adapted and embraced change, time and time again. Her journey is more than just a list of accomplishments. She is a trailblazing executive with a distinguished background and unwavering commitment to supporting artists […] Sylvia’s influence is rooted in an understanding of music’s power to connect with people.”

Read Rhone’s full memo below:

To My Sony Music Family,

It’s been an extraordinary journey: eleven years since my promotion to President of Epic Records and six years since my appointment as Chairwoman and CEO. This role at Epic represents the third time in my career that I’ve been the first woman and first Black person to serve as CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company.

And today, I am moving on from this historic role at Epic and I’m very excited about the future.
I’ve always been surrounded by excellent teams, but our current one at Epic is extraordinary. Spanning multiple generations, our team understands music’s history, finds meaning in complex data, and anticipates emerging trends. From Travis Scott, Future and 21 Savage, to Meghan Trainor, Tyla and Madison Beer, Zara Larsson to Giveon and Mariah The Scientist, Q-Tip to Andre 3000 and the late, great Ozzy Osbourne…Epic artists thrive through bespoke campaigns that honor their unique voices and goals. While helping artists maintain authentic fan connections, our team guides them through partnerships in video, fashion, gaming, and content innovation. We’re proud of leading Sony Music’s 2020 “Your Voice, Your Power, Your Vote” campaign and fostering a workplace culture that reflects our values: 62% women and 57% people of color. From day one, we set out to build something special at Epic — and we have.

This moment of my transition invites reflection on a journey that has been wide-ranging in its scope and impact.

Following my graduation from The Wharton School, I started as a secretary at Buddha Records and after working my way up through radio promotions, I was privileged to be appointed SVP of Black Music at Atlantic Records.  Those times feel like yesterday, working with Roberta Flack, Donnie Hathaway, En Vogue, LeVert, Brandy, Adina Howard, Troop, DAS EFX, Snow, MC Lyte, Kwamé, Miki Howard, Gerald Albright, The System and Ice Cube’s Lynch Mob and Yo-Yo.  Through our Ruthless Records deal, we also released The D.O.C., JJ Fad, Michel’le, and Easy-E.

In July 1994, I was appointed Chairwoman of Elektra Records, where we orchestrated a cultural renaissance that still resonates today. There, we became guardians of musical diversity, nurturing the power of AC/DC and Metallica alongside the genius of Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. From Pantera’s intensity to Phish’s improvisational spirit, from Tracy Chapman’s truths and Anita Baker’s soul to Tamia’s powerful vocals — each artist flourished on their own frequency. Third Eye Blind, Yolanda Adams, Silk, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Gerald LeVert, Keith Sweat, Natalie Merchant, The Cure, Björk, Staind, Better Than Ezra, The Afghan Whigs, and Jason Mraz all found their home in our musical family, creating moments that transcended mere entertainment.

Then came my chapter at Motown, where the label’s iconic history and its future converged under my leadership as Chairwoman and CEO. It was an honor to record Stevie Wonder’s last full-length studio album while simultaneously collaborating with artists like Nelly, Erykah Badu, Kid Cudi, and Akon. We also extended hip-hop’s global reach by distributing Cash Money Records’ roster — elevating Baby, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake.

I am blessed to have worked with some of the most brilliant and influential artists in the history of recorded music. And I’ve discovered this: when we channel our strength and creativity in service of a vision, and collaborate with artists who do the same, we create music that reflects our world, questions our assumptions, and uplifts our spirits. This is a kind of magic, a deeply human connection. Right now, when music’s DNA is being reimagined, when artists face existential challenges, and when all of us are building the future in real time, there is little that is more profound.

Looking back on my Epic era fills me with great pride. To my team of creative champions, you now hold the reins, and I know your best work lies ahead. I’m grateful for Zeke Lewis, Rick Sackheim, Sandra Aflorei, Tyler Pittman, John Shoup, Dave Bell, Lisa Kasha, Shannon Mingal, Margeaux Watson, Justin Duran, Chelsea Donnarumma, Brooke Marcimo, Mez Tara, Gina Harrell, Melissa Victor, Traci Adams, Scott Dimig, Dontay Thompson, Jennifer Goicoechea, Patrick Afeku, John Kirkpatrick, Michael Petullo, Max Sholl, Hector Rosario and the countless other executives who made Epic Records home.

I thank my daughter Quinn for her unconditional love and my late parents Marie and Bob Rhone for their heroic support. And I am forever grateful for my prior teammates from over the years. Not only did we work great music, but we also created an amazing network of advocacy and goodwill! Thanks to Rob Stringer for his trust and camaraderie and to Doug Morris for empowering me to shatter the glass ceiling.

I have worked in our industry since vinyl ruled, and women were rarely if ever in line for C-level or even vice-presidential roles. I am proud of my achievements, and of my commitment to those who take inspiration from them. The many individual honors I’ve received — from Billboard, Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women, Essence, Variety, Ms. Magazine’s Woman of the Year, and the recent honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music — serve as grace notes on my years of dedication. But they pale beside what we’ve all built together. They pale beside the glory of our musical culture.

Gynaecologist shares 8 facts about osteoporosis in women; know causes and prevention steps

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Due to loss of estrogen after menopause, women are physically at more risk of osteoporosis. In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr. Ashwin Shetty, consultant, obstetrics and gynaecology, Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital shared a few facts about osteoporosis in women, and what causes it. Also read | Orthopaedic surgeon warns 1 in 3 women face osteoporosis fracture risk, shares 10 prevention habits: ‘Jump 30 times’

What causes osteoporosis in women?(Freepik)

What is osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones decrease in overall mass. With the loss of mass, bones become brittle or fragile and will fracture more easily.

Osteoporosis affects both genders but women more

While individuals of all genders can develop osteoporosis, women are more at risk for significant osteoporosis after they have become post-menopausal, resulting from hormonal changes.

Here’s what you need to know about osteoporosis in women:

1. Estrogen is important for bone health

During menopause, there is a rapid decline in the amount of estrogen produced by the body. Estrogen helps to maintain normal bone density. It does this by regulating the function of the cells that resorb bone. After menopause, estrogen levels decrease, which means that bone resorption is greater than bone formation. This can lead to loss of mass very rapidly.

2. Bone loss may be severe after menopause

Women experience the loss of up to 20% of bone mass after the first 5-7 years of menopause before recovery begins. This allowed increased risk of fracture.

3. Areas of fracture risk

Post-menopausal women are at greater risk of spinal, hip, and wrist fractures as a result of bone loss. Also read | Osteoporosis: Foods for women over 30 to prevent weakening of bones

4. Risk factors other than hormones

Additional risk factors include family history, low body weight, sedentary lifestyles, low calcium and vitamin D intake, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption.

5. Osteoporosis is a silent disease

Osteoporosis is often not recognised until a fracture occurs; hence it is referred to as a silent disease.

6. Screening is important

Finding out that you have osteoporosis early is important. The best way to screen for osteoporosis is with a Bone Mineral Density test (DEXA scan). Women should be screened no later than age 50, or younger if they have risk factors.

7. Preventative steps can make a difference

Dietary intake of calcium and vitamin D, regular weight-bearing exercise, such as walking or strength training, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol intake will all help to decrease risks.

8. There are medications available for some higher risk individuals

Some individuals will be prescribed medications to treat osteoporosis, either to decrease the rate of bone loss or increase the rate of new bone formation. Also read | Osteoporosis: Here’s what teens, young adults, pregnant or breastfeeding women should do

Syam Pushkaran Steps Into Tamil Cinema With Kamal Haasan’s KH 237

by jummy84 September 14, 2025
written by jummy84

National Award–winning screenwriter Syam Pushkaran, best known for his sharp and humane storytelling in Malayalam cinema, is all set to make his Tamil debut. He has been roped in as the writer for KH 237, Kamal Haasan’s upcoming action film directed by the stunt-choreographer duo Anbariv.

A Celebrated Writer Crosses Over

Pushkaran first caught attention with Aashiq Abu’s Salt N’ Pepper and went on to pen modern classics like Iyobinte Pusthakam (2014), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum (2017), Kumbalangi Nights (2019), Joji (2021), and most recently Rifle Club (2024). Having collaborated with Abu on half of his projects, Pushkaran has built a reputation for crafting layered characters and nuanced drama. His entry into a large-scale Tamil actioner marks a striking new chapter in his career.

For fans, the big question now is how Pushkaran’s delicate narrative touch will blend with Anbariv’s trademark adrenaline-charged style. The marriage of intimate writing and explosive action could be the unique selling point of KH 237.

Kamal, Anbariv & The Road Ahead

The project will see Kamal Haasan headline the actioner while also backing it under his banner Raaj Kamal Films International. Known for constantly reinventing himself, Haasan is coming off the release of Thug Life earlier this year. Meanwhile, the future of Indian 3 remains uncertain after the lukewarm reception of Indian 2 in 2024 — making KH 237 an important film for the actor both creatively and commercially.

Directors Anbariv, the twin brothers Anbumani and Arivumani, are household names in South Indian cinema for their action design. Their stunt work in Vikram and Thug Life drew particular praise, and with KH 237 they are stepping into the director’s chair for the first time. Their reputation ensures that the action quotient will be sky-high.

With Syam Pushkaran now steering the script, anticipation is mounting around the film’s tone. Will it be a gritty action drama with emotional heft, or an all-out spectacle with a fresh narrative twist? The official announcements so far have been tight-lipped, but the creative team assembled suggests something ambitious is in the works.

Sydney Sweeney Steps into the Ring in ‘Christy’ Boxing Movie Trailer

“Oh boy ladies & gentlemen, have I got a treat for you!” Black Bear Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for Christy, hot on the heels of its successful premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last week. Christy is now set for a US release in theaters nationwide starting in November later this fall. “What does it take to become a legend?” The sports movie tells the story of of Christy Martin, the most successful female boxer of the 1990s. From the TIFF description: “Featuring a career-best performance from Sydney Sweeney, the latest from David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) chronicles groundbreaking boxer Christy Martin’s fierce story of self-actualization in the face of terrifying adversity…” They also add: “Dealing with themes of misogyny, domestic violence, and sexual identity, the film does justice to Christy’s journey by being frank about the obstacles she overcame.” Critics have been saying Sweeney is awards worthy in this, with a strong emotional lead role as Christy. The cast also includes Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad Coleman, Bryan Hibbard, and Gilbert Cruz. It looks like yet another cliche boxing movie like so many others before it, but it also seems to throw some strong punches of its own. Take a look.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for David Michôd’s movie Christy, direct from YouTube:

Christy Martin (Sydney Sweeney) never imagined life beyond her small-town roots in West Virginia—until she discovered a knack for punching people. Fueled by grit, raw determination, and an unshakable desire to win, she charges into the world of boxing under guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim (Ben Foster). But while Christy flaunts a fiery persona in the ring, her toughest battles unfold outside it—confronting family, identity, and a relationship that might become life-or-death. Based on remarkable true events, Christy Martin’s story is one of resilience, courage, and the fight to reclaim one’s life. Christy is directed by Australian filmmaker David Michôd, director of the films Animal Kingdom, The Rover, War Machine, and The King previously, as well as a few shorts. The screenplay is written by Mirrah Foulkes and David Michôd; story by Katherine Fugate. Produced by Kerry Kohansky-Roberts, Teddy Schwarzman, Brent Stiefel, Justin Lothrop, David Michôd, Sydney Sweeney. This just premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Fest this month. Black Bear Pictures releases Michôd’s Christy movie in US theaters on November 7th, 2025.

AIIMS gastroenterologist shares Japanese walking technique with ‘more benefits than 10000 steps’: Better blood pressure

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Walking 10,000 steps every day has been linked to several health benefits, including a reduced risk of developing dementia, cancer and heart and circulatory diseases, as well as having mental health benefits. However, what if we told you that there is another walking technique with more benefits and requires much less time?

The Japanese walking technique has more benefits than the traditional 10,000 steps, and it is called interval walking. (Unsplash)

Also Read | Gastroenterologist lists warning signs of lactose intolerance, shares 4 nutritional alternatives: Protein to vitamin D

In an Instagram post shared on September 7, Dr Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at the AIIMS, Harvard and Stanford Universities, talked about this walking technique. According to him, it was discovered by the Japanese. Let’s find out how to do it and how it is more beneficial than 10,000 steps.

Japanese walking technique better than 10,000 steps?

According to the gastroenterologist, the Japanese-discovered walking technique has more benefits than the traditional 10,000 steps, and it is called interval walking. It involves alternating 3 minutes of slow walking with 3 minutes of brisk walking, as if you are rushing to an important meeting.

How to do it?

The gastroenterologist suggested doing the interval walking for 30 minutes daily. “To start, walk at a comfortable pace for 3-5 minutes, then alternate between slow and brisk walking. Finish with a 3-5 minute cool down,” he explained.

The benefits

According to him, if you do this, the results will be impressive, including:

  • better blood pressure
  • reduced stroke risk
  • improved mood
  • boosted immunity
  • better sleep quality

“It is joint-friendly, time-efficient, and very effective. Share this widely and follow for more,” he added.

Study supports the benefits of interval walking

According to Dr Sethi, studies also show that this method can significantly improve cardiovascular health and fitness. A July 2007 study published in the PubMed journal examined whether high-intensity interval walking training increased thigh muscle strength and peak aerobic capacity and reduced blood pressure more than moderate-intensity continuous walking training.

The study found that high-intensity interval walking may protect against age-associated increases in blood pressure and decreases in thigh muscle strength and peak aerobic capacity.

Salman Khan was recently spotted stepping out with his longtime bodyguard and confidant, Shera. The actor kept his look casual and cool in a navy blue shirt, light blue denim pants, his signature bracelet, and a gold chain that added a touch of charm.
Shera, whose real name is Gurmeet Singh Jolly, has been Salman’s most trusted protector for decades. Once a Punjabi turban-wearer, he gave it up to blend easily into crowds and ensure the superstar’s safety. Salman has often expressed his complete faith in Shera, who has remained loyal by his side through the years.

Kamala Harris Set To Lose Secret Service Protection Sept 1; Newsom Steps In

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

With the looming termination of Kamala Harris‘s Secret Service protection in the next few hours, the security of the former Vice President of the United States has become the latest battlefront in the political war between Gavin Newsom and Donald Trump.

About to start a 15-date book tour on September 24, one day after her 2024 campaign memoir 107 Days comes out, the ex-VP saw Trump revoke her extended Secret Service protection on August 28.

The usual six months of Secret Service protection an ex-Veep receives had been extended to 18 months by Joe Biden in the last days of his presidency for his former running mate. That semi-secret order came in no small part I’m told by the threats the first woman and first person of color to hold the office had been subjected to in the pretty polarized America we live in.

Not the first and likely not the last of the former Celebrity Apprentice host’s such moves against rivals and critics, Trump ended all that in a very short letter last week to the Department of Homeland Security: “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

This isn’t the first hit Trump has taken at Harris since taking office again. Back in the spring, Trump pulled the former VP’s security clearance, along with those of Joe Biden Hilary Clinton and others

Circumspect to a fault as always, Harris’ office kept its public reaction short. “The Vice President is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety,” Harris aide Kirsten Allen said of the end of the protection detail by Trump. Harris’ office did not respond to a further request Deadline for comment today.

However, that initial curt response may be in part because it appears that persistent Trump troller Newsom, who has taken on the role of Leader of the Opposition in the minds of many against POTUS’ increasingly authoritarian rule, has ordered a security arrangement for his long time ally Harris. Nothing has been made public yet, but reports that the California Highway Patrol, will take over protection tomorrow for Harris have been confirmed to Deadline by law enforcement sources.

“Our office does not comment on security arrangements,” Gov Newsom’s Communications chief Izzy Gardon has said, holding the official line. “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses,” he added.

Still, in what a state insider termed “a matter of conscience and decency, as well as an effort to diminish Trump” by Newsom, a combination of CHP and LAPD protection for Harris has been given the greet light.

To that, the former Veep will have the protection level that a dignitary like the Governor, First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis enjoy. While an insider cautioned not to read too much into it, there is no word on how long the CHP and LAPD protection for Harris, who recently announced she would not run for Governor of the Golden State in 2026, will last. Discussions about protection for the former VP when the ex-state Attorney General and Senator is traveling outside California are ongoing and “complicated,” I’m told.

Kicking off in NYC late next month, Harris’ 107 Days book tour has only two stops in her home state right now. The 2024 Democratic Party candidate for President will be at LA’s Wiltern on September 29 and in San Francisco on October 5. The tour ends in Miami just before Thanksgiving on November 20.

California Highway Patrol officers arrest a protester on the 101 Freeway during an anti-ICE protest in downtown LA on June 8, 2025 (Photo by BENJAMIN HANSON/Middle East Images/AFP via Getty Images)

It should be noted that CHP officers played a contentious role containing and arresting protestors on the streets of DTLA back in June. They also played a widely applauded role in maintaining order in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that ravaged LA in January.

Contacted by Deadline, the Secret Service, which is a part of DHS, referred us to the White House for comment and clarification on the whys and hows of the discontinuation of Harris’ detail so soon before she is about to make her first significant public appearances since leaving office on January 20. The White House did not respond our request for comment or insights into Trump’s seemingly sudden and very public swipe at his 2024 election opponent.

Yet, with a preamble of political neutrality, more than one federal law enforcement official told Deadline that Trump’s yanking of Harris’ detail was no more unusual that the extension the ex-VP had been given. In fact, there were no reports of significant threats against Harris, sources says. There were, however, some concerns her upcoming nationwide book tour, which also has stops in Canada and the UK, could strain her detail.

Six months of Secret Service has been the norm for Vice Presidents since Congress legislated the protection in 2008. While past VPs like Al Gore have asked for extensions of their agent detail, it was President Barack Obama’s executive order for Dick Cheney in 2009 that truly put the process in motion. Cheney, called Darth Vader by many for his ruthlessness, was granted a further six months by DHS that saw him covered until January 2010. He currently has no Secret Service protection, nor does Trump’s first VP Mike Pence, who was denied an extension by the Biden administration.

There is also another factor that plays into all this underneath the partisan rancor, one federal law enforcement source stated. “Don’t forget about the U.N.,” he said deadpan.

In less than 10 days, the U.N. General Assembly is set to begin in New York City, with leaders from all over the world in attendance and Trump scheduled to his first speech to the organization since returning to office. “it’s a heavy lift, with over 100 heads of state receiving Secret Service protection,” the source said, noting how the September 9 – 29 U.N. General Assembly requires extra resources and agents be pulled from all over the DHS unit.

Still, already in the anti-Trump trenches over the masked ICE raids and abductions that the administration unleashed purposefully on LA earlier this year and the stationing of troops in the city over protests following the detentions of the undocumented, green card holders and some US citizens, Mayor Karen Bass quickly said what many thought of the Trump action against Harris. The ex-Congresswoman and longtime Harris ally called the move late last week “another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation” by Trump. “This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles.”

LA mayor Karen Bass & the VP Kamala Harris during a march for abortion rights in Los Angeles, April 15, 2023 (Photo by APU GOMES/AFP via Getty Images)

A Hollywood producer who has been a major donor to Democrats over the years, was a big contributor to Harris’ short campaign last year, and is no big fan of Bass vehemently seconded the Mayor’s remarks by calling Trump “a would-be dictator who thinks he can bully and scare everyone into submission.” The deep-pocketed producer added Trump “clearly doesn’t know Kamala Harris very well if he thinks that’s going to work.”

As the Secret Service pull their agents (some of whom have been with the former VP since the 202 campaign) and equipment out of Harris’ Brentwood home tonight ahead of that September 1 deadline, state officers from CHP’s Dignitary Protection Unit are already moving in place, I’m told.

That’s just step one.

“DPS also provides, as directed, protective services to national and international dignitaries who are visiting California on official business,” the unit says of its mission. “This includes: the advance security assessments of sites and locations to be visited, safe and secure transportation, protection at designated venues, collaboration with allied agency law enforcement, and other services as required.”

In short, it’s no Secret Service, but its not nothin’

Aside from four years at the VP’s official home at the Naval Observatory in Washington DC, Harris and her husband, ex-Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff (who lost his Secret Service detail a couple of months ago too) have had their house on the West Side of LA as their primary personal residence for years. That house has had a Secret Service presence since 2021. That protection didn’t seem to stop two individuals all in black from getting onto Harris’ property in the early morning last January during the wildfires curfew. Harris herself was not at the house and LAPD were called to the scene and detained the duo.

A state of affairs that will now be the new normal for the ex-Veep.

For the record, former Presidents Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden have lifetime Secret Service protection, for now.

How did Bhumi Pednekar loss weight?

She emphasised the importance of mixing up her workout routine, which included Pilates, running, strength training, and weightlifting. Bhumi said she started her day with running, followed by a nutritious breakfast with nuts and fruits, and dedicated an hour to exercise daily. She also prioritised completing 7,000-8,000 steps per day to stay active.

Vogue India quoted Bhumi as saying, “I’ve lost over 35kg, after gaining 30kg for a film. Since then, it’s been a constant process of improvement — but I didn’t do it by starving myself. I work really hard; it’s become an active part of my routine. I like to mix it up — Pilates, running, strength and weight training… running regularly and light exercises along with a balanced diet will help keep you active. Hence, I start my day with running followed by a healthy breakfast including foods like nuts, fruits that help maintain my energy levels and give me the boost of nutrition I need to go about my day. And during the afternoons I hit the gym to exercise.”

‘I am a vegetarian now – that truly changed my life’

Additionally, Bhumi highlighted the significance of mindful eating, adopting a vegetarian diet, and making conscious food choices to maintain her energy levels and overall well-being.

She also told Vogue India in 2021, “I make sure to dedicate an hour to exercise daily and have made a resolution to complete 7,000-8,000 steps in a day so I don’t feel lethargic. It may look difficult since you’re indoors all the time but it’s important to push yourself… I believe that you should, be mindful of what you eat, not how much you eat. I am a vegetarian now and that has truly changed my life and opened my eyes to the importance of conscious food choices.”
