Korean skincare routine: 10 steps to get glass-like glowing skin in every season

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Korean Beauty, or K-Beauty as we know it, has been taking the global skincare by storm. Known for giving users a ‘glass skin’ look, the Korean skincare routine emphasises on hydration, nourishment, and consistency rather than quick fixes. If you’ve ever wondered how Koreans maintain their glowing, youthful skin, the secret lies in their 10-step skincare routine.

10 step Korean skincare routine for glowing skin(Freepik)

Korean skincare routine

While it may seem lengthy, each step serves a purpose in transforming dull skin into a luminous masterpiece. Let’s dive into this world of self-care and discover the 10 essential steps to glass-like glow.

1. Use an oil-based cleanser that melts away impurities

The first step in the Korean skincare routine is double cleansing, beginning with an oil-based cleanser. This step removes makeup, sunscreen, excess sebum, and oil-based impurities that water alone cannot dissolve.

Massage the cleanser gently onto your skin in circular motions to lift dirt and grime. Then rinse with lukewarm water. Popular choices include cleansing balms or micellar oils infused with ingredients like green tea, rice bran, or camellia oil.

Why it matters: It ensures a clean slate without stripping the skin’s natural moisture barrier, preparing it for deeper cleansing.

2. Water-based cleanser: Wash away sweat and residue

The second cleansing step in this skincare routine involves a foaming or gel cleanser to remove water-based impurities such as sweat and dirt. This ensures your pores are completely free of residue from the day.

Look for pH-balanced formulas that are gentle on the skin, avoiding harsh sulphates. Ingredients like centella asiatica, snail mucin, or tea tree extract can help soothe and purify the skin.

Why it matters: Double cleansing helps prevent breakouts and maintains skin clarity by ensuring no impurities linger.

3. Exfoliator: Polish away dead skin cells

Exfoliation is crucial but should be done only two to three times a week. This step helps remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, promoting a smoother and brighter texture. Choose between chemical exfoliants (like AHA, BHA, or PHA) for gentle resurfacing or physical exfoliants with fine particles for a mild scrub effect.

Why it matters: Regular exfoliation allows skincare products to penetrate more effectively, revealing fresh, glowing skin.

4. Toner: Balance and prep the skin

Toners in K-beauty are not harsh alcohol-based astringents, but hydrating preps that balance the skin’s pH and replenish moisture. They act as the first layer of hydration after cleansing and help the skin absorb the following products more efficiently. Use a hydrating toner with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, rose water, or bamboo extract.

Why it matters: A good toner restores balance and creates the perfect base for layering skincare.

5. Essence: The heart of Korean skincare

Essence is the soul of Korean beauty rituals. These combine the lightweight feel of a toner with the concentrated benefits of a serum. Packed with nourishing and hydrating ingredients, essences promote cell turnover and skin repair. Apply it by patting gently with your palms, not rubbing.

Why it matters: It provides deep hydration and enhances the overall glow, making skin plumper and more radiant.

6. Serum or ampoule: Target specific concerns

Serums and ampoules deliver highly concentrated active ingredients to address particular issues such as acne, pigmentation, dullness, or wrinkles. For glass-like skin, choose serums enriched with niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or snail mucin. These ingredients help brighten and smooth the complexion over time.

Why it matters: This step delivers the most potent nutrients directly into your skin cells for visible results.

7. Sheet mask – Indulge in intensive hydration

K-beauty’s iconic sheet masks are more than just a pampering treat, they are a hydration powerhouse. These single-use masks are soaked in nutrient-rich essence that penetrates deeply into the skin. Use it once a week, and leave it on for 15–20 minutes for maximum absorption.

Why it matters: Sheet masks flood the skin with moisture, leaving it supple, refreshed, and luminous.

8. Eye cream: Nourish the delicate under-eye area

The skin around the eyes is thin and prone to fine lines and puffiness. Applying a light yet nourishing eye cream keeps this area firm and hydrated. Look for ingredients like peptides, collagen, and caffeine to brighten dark circles and smooth wrinkles.

Why it matters: It prevents early signs of ageing and ensures your eyes look as radiant as the rest of your face.

9. Moisturiser: Lock in all the goodness

No skincare routine is complete without a moisturiser to seal in all the hydration and nutrients from previous steps. Choose a texture that suits your skin type, gel-based for oily skin, cream-based for dry skin, or emulsion-type for combination skin. Ingredients like ceramides, green tea, or squalene help strengthen the skin barrier.

Why it matters: Moisturiser locks everything in, ensuring long-lasting hydration and a smooth, soft finish.

10. Sunscreen: The ultimate protection

The final and most crucial step, sunscreen. Even the most luxurious skincare routine won’t matter if you skip this step. Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning, even on cloudy days or when indoors. Korean sunscreens are famous for being lightweight, non-greasy, and perfect for daily wear.

Why it matters: Sunscreen prevents premature ageing, pigmentation, and sun damage, maintaining your glass-like glow for the long term.

Final Thoughts

The 10-step Korean skincare routine isn’t just about layering products, it’s a ritual of self-love and consistency. While it might seem extensive, you don’t have to do all ten steps every day. The key is to listen to your skin and adjust accordingly.

Macaulay Culkin steps back into Kevin McCallister role for new Christmas advertising campaign

Macaulay Culkin has stepped back into his Kevin McCallister role for a new Christmas advertising campaign with a message about family and ageing.

Macaulay Culkin has stepped back into his Kevin McCallister role for a new Christmas advertising campaign with a message about family and ageing

The 45-year-old actor, best known for playing quick-witted lad Kevin who outsmarts burglars in 1990 comedy Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), is starring in a new “Home But Not Alone” campaign for Home Instead, a company providing in-home care for older adults.

This time, the character of Kevin’s focus is on keeping his mother, Kate McCallister, played again by 71-year-old Catherine O’Hara, safe at home.

In a series of newly-released clips released as part of the campaign, Macaulay reprises his character from the original films. The main ad opens with a hand-drawn map titled “Mom’s Safety Plan”, showing danger zones around the house and notes reminding Kevin to secure a carpet to prevent tripping, raise the toilet seat and install a stairlift.

Kevin says in the video while wrapping outdoor decorations in bubble wrap: “I’m just worried about mom being by herself, y’know? What if she falls down or gets snowed in? They never did catch that South Bay Shovel Slayer.”

His conversation is interrupted by the sound of a shovel scraping the pavement, leading to an encounter with Old Man Marley’s granddaughter – a nod to the original film’s neighbour.

She asks him what he’s doing and suggests a different approach, asking: “Have you tried talking to her about getting a little help?”

She adds: “The scariest part is starting that conversation. Then at least you’ll know and can stop worrying about it. It’s not easy, but how you feel about family is a complicated thing.”

The campaign was directed by Jody Hill, who said about the ad campaign in a release shared with People: “We wanted to tell this story authentically, recognising that we all experience this moment with a loved one at some point.

“It goes beyond holiday nostalgia to connect with Kevin McCallister years later – as he faces the same concerns many of us have as our parents age. It’s real, it’s funny, and it’s deeply human.”

The “Home But Not Alone” ads are set to air during broadcasts of Home Alone and other festive programming, as well as throughout college football coverage until 11 January.

Macaulay filmed several additional clips for the project, including one re-creating a famous moment from the original movie in which Kevin’s grocery bags split open on the street.

Despite more than three decades since first playing the role, the actor said the connection between himself and Kevin remains strong – and is one now shared with his own family.

In December 2024, the father of two told E! News his four-year-old son, Dakota had begun confusing his own memories with scenes from the films.

Macaulay said: “He thinks he’s Kevin.

“I’m like, ‘Do you remember going down the stairs on the sled?’ He’s like, ‘Mmhmm, yep. Sure do.’ I’m like, ‘Do you remember when he had yellow hair?’ And he’s like, ‘Uh-huh, yep’.”

Macaulay added he responded by calling Dakota “a lying liar who lies”.

Shah Rukh Khan Steps Out To Greet Fans After 60th Birthday Bash; Internet Hails Him As ‘True King Of Hearts’- Watch

King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 on November 2, and his birthday celebration became a moment of love and emotion for millions of fans. Known for his incredible journey from a middle-class boy in Delhi to one of the world’s biggest superstars, SRK continues to inspire people with his humility and warmth even after more than three decades in the film industry.

Shah Rukh Khan Waves to a Sea of Fans in Mumbai

Every year, thousands of fans gather outside his Mumbai home, Mannat, to catch a glimpse of their favorite actor on his birthday. This year too, crowds lined up early, holding banners and chanting his name. However, due to safety and crowd control concerns, authorities advised SRK not to step out for his traditional wave from the Mannat balcony.

Although fans were initially disappointed, SRK made sure they did not go home empty-handed. After attending a fan-meet event in Mumbai, the actor stepped out later in the evening to greet the sea of fans waiting outside. Dressed casually in jeans, a black t-shirt, and a white jacket, the Jawan star waved, smiled, and expressed his gratitude to everyone who had come to celebrate his special day.

He also shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, writing, “Thank you for making my birthday special as always. Full of gratitude and those of you I couldn’t meet, I will see you soon. In the theatres and on the next birthday. Love u.”

Earlier, SRK had apologised to fans on social media for not greeting them at Mannat, saying it was for everyone’s safety. He added, “Believe me, I will miss seeing you more than you will.” Even at 60, Shah Rukh Khan’s connection with his fans remains as magical and heartwarming as ever.

Chatha Pacha Steps Into The Spotlight With a Knockout Teaser

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Reel World Entertainment has unveiled the teaser of its much-awaited Malayalam project Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies, and it has already taken the internet by storm. After an exclusive week-long run across PVR Cinemas, the teaser dropped online and quickly became the talk of social media.

From the very first frame, Chatha Pacha throws viewers straight into the middle of a colourful, unrestrained world where wrestling, street life, and pure chaos collide. The teaser captures the raw pulse of Kerala’s subculture of physical combat and community rivalry, presenting it with unapologetic style and visual flair.

Directed by debutant Adhvaith Nayar, the film is produced by Shihan Shoukath, with Ritesh and Ramesh S. Ramakrishnan serving as creative producers under the Reel World Entertainment banner. Together, they promise an experience that is both deeply rooted in local life and cinematic in its global appeal.

The short teaser has enough energy to make heads turn. It gives a sense of the world the film inhabits—its sounds, colours, and unpredictable energy. In flashes, we see Arjun Ashokan, Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair, and Ishan Shoukath, each seemingly embodying a distinct, unpredictable persona. Every frame hints at something fierce and playful, as if the film is ready to unleash a new form of cinematic madness on screen.

The Crew Behind the Chaos

Chatha Pacha marks the Malayalam cinema debut of celebrated music composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy, whose arrival in the industry has already created a wave of excitement. Their music is expected to give the film a distinctive sound that blends raw local energy with a polished contemporary rhythm.

The project also brings together a top-tier technical team. Cinematographer Anend C. Chandran, known for his striking visual storytelling, handles the camera, while action choreographer Kalai Kingson shapes the intense fight sequences that anchor the film’s physical world. Lyricist Vinayak Sasikumar, composer Mujeeb Majeed, and editor Praveen Prabhakar also join the lineup, ensuring that every creative element contributes to the film’s unified vision. The screenplay is written by Sanoop Thykoodam, whose writing promises to capture the emotional grit and humour of street-level life in Kerala.

Backing this ambitious production is a powerful distribution network that ensures the film’s reach both within and beyond Kerala. Wayfarer Films, the banner founded by Dulquer Salmaan and known for championing fresh and innovative content, will distribute the film across Kerala. PVR Inox Pictures will handle distribution in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while negotiations are underway for the Telugu and Hindi versions. The global rollout will be managed by The Plot Pictures, taking Chatha Pacha to audiences overseas. Music rights have been secured by T-Series, which is expected to bring the soundtrack to a wide audience ahead of release.

High-Octane Cinema Rooted in Local Culture

If the teaser is anything to go by, Chatha Pacha is not just another action film but a celebration of Kerala’s street culture told with a sense of scale and swagger rarely seen in Malayalam cinema. The film promises to balance gritty realism with flamboyant cinematic energy, offering a story that feels local at heart but ambitious in its execution.

The combination of a debutant director with a proven creative team and one of India’s most acclaimed music trios makes Chatha Pacha one of the most exciting Malayalam projects on the horizon. It is a film that looks ready to redefine how regional stories can carry a global pulse while staying true to their cultural roots.

As anticipation builds, Chatha Pacha stands as a promise of raw, daring, and emotionally charged cinema. The teaser might only be a glimpse, but it already signals that this is a film that knows exactly what it wants to deliver—unfiltered energy and pure entertainment.

Mumbai orthopaedic surgeon Dr Manan Vora reveals how long you need to walk to burn off popular comfort foods like samosas, gulab jamun, pizza and chole bhature.

We all love indulging in our favourite comfort foods like samosas, gulab jamuns, or a plate of chole bhature, but have you ever wondered how much walking it actually takes to burn them off? Dr Manan Vora, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist based in Mumbai, breaks down in his October 31 Instagram post, the calorie count of some of India’s most-loved foods and how long you’d need to walk to balance them out. Dr. Vora reveals calories in popular snacks and walking time to burn them off.

How much walking does it take to burn a samosa or slice of pizza

Dr Vora began his post by saying, “How much walking does it actually take to burn your favourite foods?” He then listed some of India’s most-loved comfort foods and the time it would take to burn them through walking.

“1 samosa or vada pav has about 250 calories, that’s around 50 minutes of walking,” he explained. “One slice of pizza equals roughly 285 calories, which takes close to an hour of walking.”

If you’re snacking on a packet of chips, Dr Vora noted that it adds up to “about 300 calories, you’d need a little over an hour of walking.” For those with a sweet tooth, “1 gulab jamun has 180 calories, which means around 35 minutes of walking,” he added. And the heaviest indulgence on the list? “One plate of chole bhature packs around 600 calories, you’d need to walk for almost 2 hours.”

However, Dr Vora made sure to emphasise that fitness isn’t about deprivation. “You don’t need to avoid these foods. Enjoy them occasionally and balance it with movement,” he wrote. “That’s how you stay fit without giving up what you love.”

Oasis’ Paul Arthurs Steps Away From Tour For Cancer Treatment

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

An Oasis founding member is stepping away from the band’s highly-anticipated reunion tour following a prostate cancer diagnosis.

On Friday, guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs shared his health news on Instagram, announcing his temporary departure from the Oasis Live ’25 World Tour, which kicked off on July 4 in Cardiff, Wales.

“Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,” he shared in his post. “The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour. Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.”

Arthurs continued, “I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November. Bonehead. X”

The band’s next stop after Arthurs’ break will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov. 15 and 16.

Following reports of an Oasis reunion tour, Liam Gallagher confirmed the news last August that he and brother Noel were reuniting, after their long-held sibling rivalry resulted in the latter leaving the group mid-tour in 2009.

“It is with some sadness and great relief…I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel wrote in a statement at the time. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”
