Serving as a pro for seasons 3-9, Karina took her first mini-break from the ballroom in its 10th season. She then competed in nine consecutive seasons before her next brief hiatus in season 20. At the time, she explained, “I’ve decided to focus my energies on some other exciting endeavors including adding author to my resume.”

She ended up returning for two more outings, but Karina officially left DWTS after season 22.

Since hanging up her dancing shoes, Smirnoff appeared on E!’s Famously Single and returned to professional dancing. In 2017, she opened up about her decision to leave the ABC series, admitting she does “miss the show” and wouldn’t rule out a return.

“I love dancing with celebrities on the show, but it’s a different type of experience. You’re not just their dance partner. You’re their coach, their shrink, their cheerleader,” she told Fox. “But when you perform with your professional partner, they’re as strong as you and it becomes a different type of performance. And I missed that when I wasn’t doing it while I was on the show.”

“You’ve got to live, don’t you?” Madman Films in Australia has unveiled an official trailer for the film The Little Sister, an acclaimed French coming-of-age drama from filmmaker / actress Hafsia Herzi directing her fourth feature so far. This originally premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year in the Main Competition section – it won the coveted Best Actress award for star Nadia Melliti who plays Fatima. The film just opened in French cinemas a few weeks ago after playing at festivals all year long. Fatima, 17, is the youngest of 3 daughters in a French-Algerian family. Wanting to find her own path in life, she begins university studies in Paris, where she embraces new experiences. She struggles to develop her identity and balance emerging desires, including her attraction to women, while also maintaining a sense of loyalty to her family. The cast features Nadia Melliti with Park Ji-min (also seen in Return to Seoul), Amina Ben Mohamed, Rita Benmannana, and Melissa Guers. This looks quite good! Not sure another story about life in Paris, a more meaningful coming-of-age tale of identity & honesty. Keep an eye out for this one soon.

Here’s the first international trailer for Hafsia Herzi’s film The Little Sister, direct from YouTube:

The Little Sister Film

Fatima, 17, the youngest of three daughters, treads carefully as she searches for her own path, grappling with emerging desires, her attraction to women & loyalty to her caring French-Algerian family. Starting university in Paris, she dates, makes friends, and explores a whole new world, all while confronting a timeless and heartrending dilemma: How can one stay true to oneself when reconciling different parts of one’s identity feels impossible? The Little Sister, also known as La Petite Dernière (meaning The Little Last One), is written and directed by French-Tunisian actress / filmmaker Hafsia Herzi, director of the films You Deserve a Lover, Good Mother, and La Cour previously. Adapted from the book titled “The Last One” (“La petite dernière”) by Fatima Daas. Produced by Julie Billy and Naomi Denamur. This initially premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The film already opened in theaters in France starting in October this fall. Still no official US release date set yet – stay tuned for more updates. Does that look good?

Stars Who Got Their Start on the Soap Opera

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Days of Our Lives has been on for 60 years.

For those counting, that’s 21,900 days. And while there haven’t been quite that many episodes of the enduring NBC soap opera—which made the move to Peacock in 2022—the sands of the hourglass have signaled the passage of 15,000 episodes and counting.

Which means that fictional Salem, Ill., has seen more than its fair share of drama, with love affairs, weddings and babies vying for time with feuds, comas, serial killers and all variety of backstabbing. Yet, wouldn’t you know, people keep coming to town.

Deidre Hall, whose Dr. Marlena Evans has survived so much, remains at the center of the drama after 49 years, but the show’s stalwart cast has welcomed quite the revolving door of familiar faces, as well, many of whom went on to become household names.

Or were already legends when they happened to pop up on daytime TV for the first time and walk away with a Guest Actor Emmy, as Dick Van Dyke did at the 2024 ceremony.

The upcoming Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, features a star-studded ensemble cast. The film explores the beginnings of the late King of Pop, who died in 2009, and how his time with the Jackson 5 catapulted him to build one of the most successful solo music careers in the world.

Below, get to know each star from the Michael biopic movie and who they’re playing.

Jaafar Jackson – Michael Jackson

As the nephew of the late King of Pop, it was only right that Jaafar would honor his uncle. Jaafar is a singer, actor and dancer, bringing his triple-threat skills to the big screen. In 2019, he released his first single, “Got Me Singing.”

After being cast in the role as Michael back in 2023, Jaafar took to Instagram to gush that he was “humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life.”

Colman Domingo – Joe Jackson

Colman is playing the role of Michael’s father, Joe Jackson. The actor has been seen in various roles, the most recent being Candyman, The Running Man and Wicked For Good.

Joe was the patriarch of the Jackson 5 as he pushed his sons to pursue a music career in the late 1960s. Joe died in 2018.

Nia Long – Katherine Jackson

Nia plays the role of Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson. Having grown up with a musical background, Katherine aspired to be a country music singer or an actress.

As for Nia, she’s best known for her performances in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Boyz n The Hood and NCIS: Los Angeles.

Jamal R. Henderson – Jermaine Jackson

Jamal is playing Jermain, the fourth child of Katherine and Joe and second vocalist and bass guitarist for the Jackson 5.

Tre Horton – Marlon Jackson

Marlon will be played by Tre. The sixth child of Joe had a twin brother, who died shortly after his birth.

Rhyan Hill – Tito Jackson

Rhyan is playing the late Tito, who was a founding member of the Jackson 5. After the band found success, Tito embarked on a solo career as a blues musician. Tito died in September 2024 after suffering from a heart attack. He was 70 years old.

David-Jones – Jackie Jackson

David is playing the role of the eldest Jackson brother, Jackie, who is the second child of Joe and Katherine.

Kat Graham – Diana Ross

Kat is portraying the Queen of Motown, Diana, whose 1969 work, Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5, put the young siblings on the map in the music industry. Known for her hits like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” Diana was Motown’s most successful act of the 1960s.

Miles Teller – John Branca

Miles is playing the role of entertainment lawyer and manager John, whom Michael hired after firing his father as his manager. Michael eventually fired John due to his alleged financial meddling.

House of the Dragon favourite stars in glamorous first look at all-new BBC drama from acclaimed writer

After the success of BBC’s Mood, Nicôle Lecky is back for yet another drama and this time round, Wild Cherry looks to be just as dramatic and twisted as Lecky’s first series.

Not only has Lecky created and written the series, she’s also starring in the show as Gigi, a fellow resident of the affluent neighbourhood of Richford Lake that is drawn into the drama encircling the main mother-daughter duos at the heart of this tale.

The series follows friends Juliet (Eve Best) and Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), two successful working mothers, who are shocked when their daughters get embroiled in a school wide scandal.

Well now, we have a juicy first look at Wild Cherry, thanks to a brand new official trailer that has just landed – and boy, does it look like a series that is prime for a binge-watch.

Alongside the trailer, the official release date for the series has also now been confirmed, and will land on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 15th November.

Eve Best as Juliet, Amelia May as Allegra, Carmen Ejogo as Lorna and Imogen Faires as Grace in Wild Cherry. Lesley Edith

“In this town, they had wonderful lives,” we hear Lecky’s Gigi narrate at the start of the trailer. “It was a world of privilege for all of them but in Richford Lake, everyone was hiding something.”

We see flashes of the glamorous lives in question, from Juliet in the middle of a professional photoshoot to Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May) enjoying time at their private school together and then, going to parties in lavish homes.

But we then see Allegra admit to a boy that there’s a secret messaging app going round their school and we soon see things get a whole lot darker. It turns out that students have to pay to be featured on there, posting provocative pictures in exchange for likes and comments, it seems.

It’s clear there’s drama brewing in both camps of students and their parents as we see the adults sit down for a dinner party, which looks to be rather tense. But then things take a turn for the worse when we see that one of Grace and Allegra’s friends has gone missing, with the police on the search for the truth.

Read more:

As we see both Grace and Allegra’s mugshots on a board in a police station, could they have something to do with it? But that simmering tension boils over into Juliet and Lorna’s own dynamic, with Lorna telling Juliet to not tell her how to parent her own daughter.

“Nobody knew what they were capable of – until it was too late,” we then hear as the scene shows Juliet, Allegra, Lorna and Grace all staring seriously at their reflections in a mirror. Could it be in the aftermath of something terrible? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The official synopsis for Wild Cherry reads: “In Richford Lake things appear perfect for super-mum Juliet (Eve Best) and business mogul Lorna (Carmen Ejogo), but when their teens Grace (Imogen Faires) and Allegra (Amelia May) are accused of a shocking scandal at their exclusive private school, toxic secrets and lies ripple throughout the community.

“A coming-of-age drama for both mothers and daughters as they navigate privilege, power and social media. “Like mother like daughter” rings loudly in a complex world, where danger and betrayal is never far from the surface – even in a perfect town.”

Dancing With the Stars Guest Judge: Tom Bergeron

by jummy84 November 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Dancing With the Stars is waltzing into 20 years.

In honor of the competition show’s 20th anniversary, DWTS is bringing in a special guest judge for the Nov. 11 episode: Tom Bergeron, who hosted the series from 2005 to 2019.

The news was announced on the Nov. 5 episode of Good Morning America, with much fanfare and excitement.

“It feels really good,” Tom told the GMA hosts of returning to the ballroom. “I’m really looking forward to it.”

And on DWTS celebrating 20 years, he said, “I think 20 years of any primetime show is amazing, but for a show that’s 20 years old that’s also having a ratings resurgence—you’re more likely to see a zebra playing the piano.”

He credits the team behind Dancing With the Stars for getting the show “back to its essence.”

It’s fitting to have Tom join fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough, as Dancing With the Stars celebrates two decades on air with its 34th season. The show—based on the British show Strictly Come Dancing—first began airing on ABC in June 2005.

Dancing With the Stars’ Carrie Ann Inaba Apology to Danielle Fishel

‘DWTS’ Fans Spot Awkward Moment Between Danielle Fishel & Whitney Leavitt After Shocking Elimination

Warning: This story contains spoilers for the Nov. 4 episode of Dancing With the Stars.

Carrie Ann Inaba didn’t mean to upset a contestant.

The Dancing With the Stars judge apologized to Danielle Fishel for making a comment about her “tiny” body on Halloween Night while praising her and pro partner Pasha Pashkov‘s performance on this week’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame episode.

Before stepping into the ballroom on Nov. 4, Danielle shared that Carrie’s criticism had stuck with her following her Oct. 28 routine on the ABC competition series, when The Talk host told her, “You have to use the space because you are a tiny little woman.”

“I am a tiny little woman,” the Boy Meets World alum reflected in a confessional, “but she’s big on the inside—more powerful—so I need to unleash her more often.”

And Danielle acknowledged that showing how much bigger she can take her movements would be no easy feat, quipping, “It doesn’t come naturally to be flailing my 5-foot-1 body around the floor.”

Tom Blyth Stars in ‘High Finance’ Thriller Film ‘Bull Run’ Official Trailer

“I was thinking we could do some number-crunching tonight – if you’re free.” Vertical has revealed their official trailer for a financial thriller film called Bull Run, made by filmmaker Alfredo Barrios Jr. as his feature directorial debut. It premiered at a film festival last year and will be out to watch on VOD later this month. In banking terms, a “bull run” is a period of sustained upward price movement in a market, such as stocks or cryptocurrencies, driven by investor confidence and optimism. The film follows a young former hockey player turned “high finance” banker working in NYC. In the wilds of Wall Street, one junior banker discovers that the only thing more dangerous than billion-dollar deals are the men signing them. Starring Tom Blyth with Chris Diamantopoulos, Jay Mohr, Zach Villa, Jordyn Denning, Ashwin Gore, Helena Mattson, Trevor Gretzky, Troy Garity, Sam Daly, and Alyshia Ochse. This film looks okay, but I’d rather recommend the excellent Fair Play film instead, also set in the cut-throat Wall Street offices.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Alfredo Barrios Jr.’s film Bull Run, direct from Vertical’s YouTube:

Bull Run Poster

“Greed has its limits.” Bobby Sanders (Tom Blyth), a hustling, fast-talking ex-pro-hockey-player-turned-junior-banker, navigates the quirky and somewhat surreal world of high finance as he confronts life’s meaning within his gilded cage. Bull Run is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Alfredo Barrios Jr., making his feature film directorial debut after working on some TV series and a few short films previously. The screenplay is written by Alfredo Barrios Jr and Bill Keenan. Produced by Bill Keenan, Doug Ellin, Karen Baldwin, Howard Baldwin, Andrew Sugerman, Bill Immerman. This first premiered at the 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival last year but didn’t show up anywhere else. Vertical will release Barrios Jr’s Bull Run movie in select US theaters + on VOD starting November 14th, 2025 this fall. Anyone interested in this?

Netflix is set to revive a timeless childhood favorite with a new live-action adaptation of Eloise, inspired by Kay Thompson’s beloved book series and Hilary Knight’s iconic illustrations. The streaming giant announced that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino will direct and co-write the film, which stars young newcomer Mae Schenk as Eloise. Ryan Reynolds joins the project as both producer and actor, portraying a brand-new villain created specifically for the movie.

First published in 1955, Eloise follows a mischievous six-year-old who lives on the top floor of New York City’s famed Plaza Hotel. The character became a cultural icon for her wit, humor, and boundless imagination. The stories enjoyed renewed popularity in the 2000s with new books from Simon & Schuster and two Disney television films starring Sofia Vassilieva as Eloise and Julie Andrews as her nurturing nanny.

Although specific plot details for Netflix’s adaptation remain under wraps, the film is described as a fresh, original adventure inspired by the classic books. According to Hannah Minghella, Head of Feature Animation and Family Film at Netflix, “Eloise has been beloved for generations… It’s an honor to reintroduce this cherished character with two people who share her signature mischief and charm, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Ryan Reynolds.”
