HBO has announced three new cast additions for Dune: Prophecy season 2, with Indira Varma, Ashley Walters and Tom Hollander joining the ranks.

The series, which is inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson’s prequel novel Sisterhood of Dune, is set 10,000 years before the events of the original Dune novel series and its ongoing movie adaptations, helmed by Denis Villeneuve.

Varma is best known for playing Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones and is also set to appear in The Night Manager season 2, while Ashley Walters is best known for his role as drug kingpin Dushane in Top Boy.

Hollander, meanwhile, will be widely recognised for his recent role as posh scammer Quentin in The White Lotus season 2.

No character details have been revealed for their roles yet.

Alongside the casting news, the network also confirmed that production on the second season has officially begun, with filming locations for the new instalment including Hungary, Jordan and Spain.

And, unlike the six-episode first season, HBO is treating fans to more episodes in season 2, with the new instalment set to feature eight.

While plot details for Dune: Prophecy season 2 remain under wraps, the first season focuses on the Harkonnen sisters and the foundation of the mysterious Bene Gesserit order.

Varma, Walters and Hollander will join returning cast members Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka and Faoileann Cunningham.

Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten and Tessa Bonham Jones will also return.

Superman Spinoff TV Show to Star Skyler Gisondo

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, who created the award-winning mockumentary American Vandal, are going into the DC Universe.

The duo will write, executive produce and showrun the Superman movie TV spinoff to star Skyler Gisondo, the actor who played Daily Planet photographer and unlikely ladies’ man Jimmy Olsen.

Gisondo and the character became a true breakout from James Gunn’s summer movie, and a show was put into development around him. The concept centers on Olsen, as well as other Daily Planet reporters (minus Lois Lane and Clark Kent), who tackle cases involving super-powered villains.

Gorilla Grodd would be in the spotlight for the season.  Grodd is a super-intelligent evil ape who rules a secret African city named Gorilla City. The character is a key antagonist for the Flash, and first appeared in an issue of the Scarlet Speedster’s comics back in 1959. He was created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino.

Gunn and his DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran will executive produce. Galen Vaisman is overseeing for DC.

Perrault and Yacenda running the show tips off the tone of the series. The comedy writing duo got a big break with American Vandal, which parodied true-crime series but with a story about an investigation into who and why someone vandalized a school parking lot with phallic images. The show earned a Peabody Award as well as an Emmy nomination.

The duo also created Players, a mockumentary of sports documentaries that streamed on Paramount+. Perrault additionally wrote Universal’s R-rated talking dog movie Strays, while Yacenda directed episodes of the Glenn Powell show Chad Powers.

The adventure continues! Arka Mediaworks has revealed the first epic teaser for Baahubali: The Eternal War, an animated spin-off series of movies currently in the works. Arka just re-released both of the original two Baahubali movies as one massive Baahubali: The Epic which just hit theaters around the world. After the cliffhanger that ended Baahubali: The Beginning, The Eternal War will follow the betrayed & murdered prince Amarendra Baahubali (voiced again by superstar Prabhas) into the afterlife. Heart aching for those he left behind, Amarendra Baahubali finds himself at the center of an ancient cosmic war between devas and asuras. As he navigates through the 14 realms of existence, he forges an unlikely alliance, confronts divine forces, and fights to restore balance to the cosmos. Ramya Krishna also reprises her role from the films, voicing Sivagami again. These new animated movies are presented by Baahubali’s creator S.S. Rajamouli, and will feature screenplays written by Kevin Smith’s former producer Scott Mosier, and music by M.M. Keeravani. This first look teaser has new animation footage + some footage from the movies to get people hyped up even more. I dig the style of this – clearly inspired by Into the Spider-Verse and I’m fine with that.

Here’s the first teaser trailer for Ishan Shukla’s animation Baahubali: The Eternal War, from YouTube:

“When Ishan brought us the idea of expanding the Baahubali universe into a stylised animated epic, it clicked instantly. It feels like a seamless, organic extension of the world we built, one that will thrill long‑time fans and invite new audiences in. I am excited to bring these two films to the big screen.” –Filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli

As he navigates through 14 realms of existence, he forges an unlikely alliance, confronts divine forces beyond mortal comprehension, & fights to restore balance to the cosmos. Baahubali: The Eternal War is directed by animation filmmaker Ishan Shukla, director of Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust and “The Bandits of Golak” episode of Star Wars: Visions previously. ‘Snowfall’ Spinoff on Leon and Wanda Ordered to Series by FX

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

FX has ordered an untitled Snowfall spinoff set on Leon (Isaiah John) and Wanda (Gail Bean) to series.

The coming spinoff hails from Malcolm Spellman and the producers of Snowfall: Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London and Trevor Engelson. The series will stream on Hulu.

“Set in ‘90s Los Angeles soon after the end of the original series, a recovering addict strives to take West Coast rap mainstream — while gang wars erupt and record labels move to exploit hip hop culture for their own gain,” the synopsis reads.

In Snowfall, Leon and Wanda are a couple who eventually get married.

“This new series takes us back to one of the most formative eras in music with the birth of the West Coast rap revolution,” said Nick Grad, the president of FX Entertainment. “We worked with Malcolm Spellman on the documentary series Hip Hop Uncovered and he has encyclopedic knowledge of this material. This is a breakout starring role for Gail Bean and, as always, Isaiah John is terrific along with the ensemble cast. Snowfall was one of the most successful FX dramas ever and we’re excited that Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme and other veterans of the Snowfall creative team are on board.”

Bean and John will be joined on the spinoff by Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith and Simmie Sims III. The spinoff series will be produced by FX Productions.

Every The Walking Dead spin-off in the works

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

The Walking Dead may have come to an end in 2022 after eleven seasons, but the franchise continues to live on through various spin-offs.

Based on the comic series by Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead TV universe spans seven live-action shows in total, between sequels, prequels and anthology shows.

Some of these spin-offs have already come to an end, including Fear The Walking Dead, which spanned seven seasons, the teen-orientated The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and the one-off miniseries The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Several shows, however, are still ongoing, so here’s a rundown of all The Walking Dead spin-offs in development.

The Walking Dead: Dead City season 3

Maggie and Negan’s spin-off was the first sequel series to The Walking Dead, which sees Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan reprise their roles.

After the show’s second season concluded in June 2025, a third season was announced a month later. Production is set to begin in Boston, Massachusetts in autumn 2025, with Seth Hoffman joining as the new showrunner.

“I’m excited to have the chance to dive back into The Walking Dead universe and work to deliver another dynamic season’s worth of stories to this epic franchise,” Hoffman said.

“It’s a true honor to chart out the next chapter for Maggie and Negan’s iconic adventures in Dead City. Lauren, Jeffrey and Scott [Gimple] are incredible creative partners and I’m thrilled to collaborate with them to bring this story to life.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4

Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride return as Daryl and Carol respectively in this sequel series, which takes the post-apocalyptic drama to Europe.

AMC announced the show would return for a fourth and final season earlier this year, which will span eight episodes. Production is set to begin in autumn 2025 in Spain.

Speaking about the final run of episodes, Reedus said: “Daryl Dixon has been an incredible journey. I thank each and every fan who has joined us on this ride. It’s been a privilege to build this story for these characters, and we have so much gratitude for how it’s been embraced.

“Your love and support have made every moment worth it. This finale isn’t just an ending; it’s a celebration of what we’ve all shared together. Keep carrying that love forward — Daryl’s journey is far from over.”

More Tales From The Walking Dead Universe

Back in 2023, AMC announced a new short-form spin-off with the working title, More Tales From The Walking Dead Universe. The show was pitched as a continuation of the anthology series, Tales Of The Walking Dead, which would be overseen by Scott Gimple.

There has been no word since about the spin-off, so it’s unclear if it is still in development.

Morena Baccarin Teases CBS Spinoff and ‘Fire Country’ Crossovers (Exclusive)

by jummy84 October 17, 2025
written by jummy84

The actress details her personal journey from ‘Fire Country’ to darker police-drama spinoff ‘Sheriff Country’

Before strapping on the holster of Sheriff Mickey Fox for CBS‘s Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, Morena Baccarin was, to say the least, gun-shy. “I had told my agent I’m not doing a network show,” the Gotham and Deadpool favorite readily admits while casually chilling on a comfy chair inside TV Insider’s Midtown Manhattan office. “I don’t want to work for 10 months out of the year. It’s going to be shot in a different country. I can’t do this. I have three little kids!”

Undaunted, her agent urged the actress to “just have a meeting with” Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, the exec producers who had cocreated Fire Country with series star Max Thieriot. She had already done a pair of guest spots on the show, so she agreed and that’s when the spark was first lit. “They literally made me fall in love with this character. In the first five minutes of the conversation, they pitched such a complicated, interesting, vulnerable, hard-ass woman that you just don’t see out there.”

During her first appearance, in 2024’s Season 2 episode “Alert the Sheriff,” it became clear to Baccarin that Mickey was designed to be more than a one-shot deal. Not only did the deputy sheriff of the fictional Edgewater, California, share ties to some Country folk — she’s the stepsister of Cal Fire chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr) and aunt of firefighting ex-con Bode (Thieriot) — but CBS was also hot to capitalize on the popularity of its runaway hit. “I knew when I went in to play Mickey,” she continues, “not that [a spinoff] was officially picked up, but that was a potential thing that was happening. So I had to really wrap my mind around it, [the] possibility of something becoming your own show that may or may not happen, but you have to be ready for it.”

To make sure she was locked and loaded, Baccarin did her research via a ride-along with officers in her upstate New York hood. “It’s a small town, so it’s kind of perfect,” she recalls. “There’s not a lot going on sometimes, but then it changes on a dime. But I was more fascinated by the little things when there’s not much going on. Do you take your belt off when you sit in your office? Things you wouldn’t think about, like when you are writing endless reports, do you take a coffee break? Do you go break it up with, oh, an eviction notice? If you want to make something happen, do you search for people to pull over?”

Another weapon in her arsenal was husband Ben McKenzie‘s past gigs as an LAPD cop on Southland and Gotham‘s Detective Jim Gordon. “Oh, he had a lot of tips,” she slyly quips, adding that she now reminds him that she’s playing the sheriff and not just a future police commissioner “all the time.”

Baccarin returned to Fire for a second appearance in Season 3, and it was that episode, “Dirty Money,” that really set the stage for Sheriff, with the introduction of the Leone ladies’ marijuana-farming father, Wes (W. Earl Brown), as well as references to Mickey’s rehab-frequenting daughter, Skye (Amanda Arcuri). Not exactly the family tree one would expect from such an ethical officer of the law.

“They’ve surrounded this woman that is fiercely black-and-white about what’s right and wrong with these characters who are very gray. Skye is struggling with drug addiction, and to have a mom who’s a cop, I can’t imagine anything worse for a child that age with the troubles that she’s having. And then Mickey’s dad grows weed illegally. It’s like you can’t make this stuff up!” Baccarin laughs. “It gives such a complex dynamic to all of her relationships.”

As Sheriff kicks off several months after her last visit to her Fire stepsister, we see that Mickey is more than the capable cop who helped catch their dad’s homicidal cannabis buddy. She’s also incredibly lovable (showrunner Matt Lopez likens Baccarin’s ability to be comedic, dramatic, and drop-dead gorgeous to Ava Gardner), at times inspiring and unapologetically enmeshed in the lives of her Edgewater neighbors, which lends the show a cozier vibe than its often incendiary forebear.

“It is very much a salute to small towns,” agrees Lopez. “One of the things we talk about is, I live in Los Angeles, and if I call the police and they come to my house, they don’t know me, and I don’t know them. It’s a very transactional sort of exchange. So what is it like to police a community in which you know everyone and everyone knows you? In part, that’s Mickey’s superpower. But we’ll also see that it can be a little bit of a blind spot for her.”

So don’t expect a Mayberry P.D. meets She’s the Sheriff. “I don’t discount the focus on community, but starting in Episode 2, one of the things we will do in Sheriff Country is show viewers some of the darker corners of Edgewater that [viewers] may not have seen before on Fire Country. It is a crime show, it is a police drama. In Fire Country, the enemy or the adversary, if you will, is the elements, right? It’s fire. It’s fire and nature in many ways. Here, it is human beings. And as soon as you enter that into the equation, it takes you to some very interesting places.”

Despite not having previously worked on Fire, Lopez was well aware that he’d need to import some aspects of the O.G. to make sure the two shows felt like they existed in the same universe. That meant coordinating production schedules that would allow for an array of crossovers — Thieriot’s Bode pops up in the premiere and Lopez promises “some really fun crosses coming up” — and scouting out spots in Toronto, where Sheriff shoots, that match the look and feel of the Vancouver-based Fire‘s locations. Thankfully, Lopez reports that they were able to find a “pretty good match” in some “little towns around Ontario, kind of at the fringes of Toronto.”

And of course, he’d have to infuse the series with a similar appreciation for the unsung heroes who happen to live outside of major metropolitan areas. “I had seen Fire, obviously I had been a fan, and so I was very excited when they reached out to me about Sheriff Country,” he admits. With only two prior TV shows under his belt and one unsold pilot (starring Ben McKenzie!), the writer of theatricals like Race to Witch Mountain and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice raves that it’s been a “wonderful experience” working with Fire‘s exec producers to “create this show that, on the one hand is very much part of the Edgewater–Fire Country universe and delivers what people love about that universe—the hope of community, all that great stuff—but at the same time carves out its own identity. And that’s kind of what we’re in the process of in Season 1.”

The series premiere hits the ground running with a crisis that leans into the small-town vibe as Mickey, currently the interim sheriff, and her partner Nathan Boone (Matt Lauria) attempt to de-escalate a deadly face-off between two brothers who have just buried their mom.

“To use a phrase that they used to use in the Old West, your six-shooter was called a ‘peacemaker.’ And Mickey Fox is perfectly willing and able and prepared to use a peacemaker, but she’s also, when the situation calls for it, able to be a peacemaker,” notes Lopez. “We see that in that first scene.”

The sequence also illuminates the differences between Mickey and the more trigger-happy Boone. “Our tech adviser, who’s a retired Sonoma County sheriff, was telling us, that first encounter you see in the pilot where she’s confronting those two grieving brothers, he said basically that most cops, the verb he used is ‘would vaporize those guys,’” says Lopez. “And that’s Boone.” He reveals that we’ll later learn that the character is “actually from big city Oakland, where policing is very different” and that their conflicting approaches to enforcement help foster “the part odd-couple, part dynamic-duo thing they’ve got going on…that push-and-pull between them as we get deeper into the season will be really exciting.”

Exciting romantically? Baccarin doesn’t see that happening. Yet. “We’re going to find out stuff about Boone, even more stuff that creates another wall between them,” she teases. “They really are great partners at work, and you get the sense that there’s something else underneath, but neither of them, no…it’s just not even on the table.”

Hugh Tull/CBS

That’s probably a good thing, since Mickey has enough on-the-job drama as it is. In addition to dealing with the Boone of it all, she has taken Edgewater P.D.’s deputy sheriff Cassidy (Michele Weaver) under her wing. A young woman who, like Mickey, spent some time in the foster care system, “Cassidy really looks up to Mickey,” Baccarin explains. “I think Cassidy had a rough past, and Mickey gave her confidence and gave her purpose. And she’s female, and there aren’t a lot of females at the station.” But if you think that means the Girl Code will be enforced, think again.

Off duty, Mickey’s life is just as hectic. The pilot reveals that her father Wes has finally gone legit, and with that comes his newfound interest in reconnecting with his daughter and granddaughter. What the hour doesn’t reveal, but Lopez does confirm, is that Wes may be finding a new drug in Edgewater P.D.’s comic-relief administrator Gina (Caroline Rhea) after moving in with Mickey. “We’ll find out she and Mickey’s dad have a little bit of a history in Episode 2, and those two are so fun together.”

Less fun: The fact that Mickey must convince the good people of Edgewater (and even herself) that she deserves to be the town’s full-time sheriff, while coparenting a troubled kid with her ex-husband, Travis (Christopher Gorham), a well-connected lawyer from Edgewater’s first family. “Travis is a Fraley and the Fraleys are the old money in town,” Lopez confirms. “They made a fortune in lumber.” At first glance, it seems that the former couple is on the same page, but “they have their little differences,” previews Baccarin. “We get in some pretty drag-out fights as the season goes on. There’s a lot of resentment there [because] she wanted to keep working on the marriage, and he’s the one who wanted it to end. There’s a lot of wounds that are still kind of left open.”

Expect some new ones, as well, once Mickey realizes that she and Skye aren’t the only women in Travis’s life, and that someone very close to her has committed a massive betrayal. Someone, it turns out, who will be vital to the future of Mickey’s family after Skye is implicated in a shocking situation in the premiere’s final moments.

“The first four episodes are really about that story,” hints Baccarin, who relished the chance to explore just how principled Mickey can be when it’s her own child at risk. And even though the huge smile on her face reflects a burning desire to spill the deets, she knows not to shoot off her mouth when it comes to spoilers. “I guess I can’t give too much away, but it gets much more complicated.”

Guess even the sheriff has the right to remain silent.

Should Deran and Adrian Get Back Together in a Spinoff?

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Still thinking about Animal Kingdom? Same. The beloved TNT drama had a resurgence in the zeitgeist when all six seasons dropped on Netflix earlier in the summer, which resurrected our thoughts about Deran (Jake Weary) and Adrian (Spencer Treat Clark).

In the first season, Adrian is introduced when Deran brutally beats him up in the bathroom after J (Finn Cole) accidentally walks in on them during an intimate moment. At some point in their childhood, the feelings between them turned into something beyond just friendship. By the end of the first season, we get some insight into Adrian and Deran’s simpler time in Belize, a period of their lives they wish they could return to.

Paresh Rawal on Baburao Spin-off and Returning to The Hera Pheri Franchise

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

Back in May this year, veteran actor Paresh Rawal gave a shocking news when he revealed his decision to withdraw from Hera Pheri 3, much to the surprise of both the audience and his team. This was followed by a legal notice from Akshay Kumar to Paresh, who is slated to reprise his role as Raju. However, Paresh later rejoined the project, confirming his return as the beloved Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. One might wonder if this series of events strained the actor’s relationship with Hera Pheri 3 director Priyadarshan, for which Paresh has now shared the details.

During a recent interview with News18, Paresh Rawal provided an update regarding Hera Pheri 3, saying, “It’s a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March next year.” Regarding the effect that his decision to exit and eventually return had on his relationship with Priyadarshan, Paresh commented, “A lot has happened but that hasn’t soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai. In fact, what has happened is that it has further solidified our equation. Through all of this, we now know each in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai. Our relationship is very transparent.”

To the delight of his fans, Paresh also mentioned the potential for a spin-off film centred around his character, Babu Bhaiya. He clarified that he has not yet discussed this with the director, but if a spin-off featuring Baburao were to be created, it would require the presence of Suniel Shetty as Shyam and Akshay Kumar as Raju. Paresh further said, “I’m not a greedy actor. I’m not foolish either. I’m not someone who assumes that duniya meri wajah se chalti hai. Even if a standalone film happens someday, Shyam and Raju also need to be there.” Regardless of the confirmation, just the news of Hera Pheri 3 continuing with the original trio has kept the fans of the franchise excited.
