Hollywood’s Brightest Toast the Launch of ARTISA Skincare

This weekend at The Grotto in downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood’s most radiant stars gathered to celebrate the launch of ARTISA Skincare, the medical-grade beauty brand created by renowned Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Dr. Carl Truesdale. The evening shimmered with elegance, capturing the seamless fusion of science and art that defines ARTISA’s philosophy.

The red carpet came alive with Tiffany Haddish, Jaime King, Tara Reid, Amanza Smith, Loni Love, Rachel Lindsay, and Claudia Jordan, each embodying the brand’s promise of inclusivity, confidence, and refinement. The launch marked the beginning of a new era in beauty, one where clinical results coexist with indulgence and accessibility.

“ARTISA is about confidence that radiates from within,” said Dr. Carl Truesdale. “It’s medical-grade skincare for real life, formulated for all skin tones, for anyone who wants results and refinement in equal measure.”

The debut introduced the ARTISA Masterpiece Collection, a carefully curated four-step regimen designed to restore radiance and vitality. The line includes the Radiance Cleanser, Rejuvenating Serum, Age Reversal Cream, and Renewal Repair Cream, complemented by a Brightening Boost Treatment that targets uneven tone and dark spots. Each formula is dermatologist-tested, antioxidant-rich, and developed with precision to repair, protect, and renew the skin barrier.

Dr. Truesdale approached ARTISA’s creation with the same artistry and technical expertise that have earned him global recognition for his natural surgical transformations. His philosophy, merging aesthetic precision with emotional well-being,translates beautifully into skincare that bridges clinical efficacy and everyday luxury.

The event’s guest list read like a who’s who of Hollywood. Tiffany Haddish, dazzling in emerald green, lit up the evening with her signature humor and charisma, perfectly reflecting ARTISA’s celebration of joyful self-assurance. Amanza Smith, in sheer black lace, embodied modern sophistication, while Jaime King and Tara Reid added touches of timeless Hollywood allure. Caitlin O’Connor sparkled as she toasted her engagement to Joe Manganiello, and Loni Love charmed guests with her laughter and authenticity. Meanwhile, Rachel Lindsay praised the collection for its commitment to diversity, describing it as “a true celebration of inclusive luxury.”

Known for his artistry both inside and outside the operating room, Dr. Truesdale is a double board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Ivy-League trained, and equally accomplished as a pianist, painter, and sculptor. His multidisciplinary background earned him the title of a modern-day Renaissance man, a description that now extends to his work in skincare.

With ARTISA, he translates his passion for aesthetic excellence into a high-performance collection that feels as elegant as it is effective, offering results-driven formulations that empower confidence and radiance from within.

The Secret Ingredient Your Skincare Routine is Missing

The Secret Ingredient Your Skincare Routine is Missing

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

If you’ve ever struggled with acne, you know it can feel like an undertaking trying to find the right ingredients for your skin—especially if it’s also extremely sensitive. To be perfectly honest, it took me years (and connecting with the right aesthetician) to figure out what ingredients worked for my sensitive, breakout-prone skin, but once I found the right routine, my whole life changed.

For a long time, I struggled after tretinoin seriously damaged my skin barrier. My skin became extra dehydrated, red, and prone to acne after that, and I found it frustrating trying to find ingredients that didn’t make it worse. The ingredient that really turned things around for me, though, was beta-glucan. While you may have seen this ingredient pop up in a formula or two in your routine, I still feel that it doesn’t get the spotlight that it deserves. It’s truly fantastic for dehydrated, damaged, acne-prone, and barrier-damaged skin because it’s known for its skin-healing properties.

My aesthetician Sonia Vargas is a huge fan of it and told me it was worth adding to my lineup because it accelerates wound healing and tissue repair. It sounded like exactly what I needed at the time. My skin has taken a huge turn for the positive since I started using it regularly four months ago. For everything you need to know about why this powerhouse ingredient should be on your shelf, straight from the experts, keep on reading.

What is Beta-Glucan?

Vargas explained that beta-glucan is a polysaccharide (made up of sugar molecules) derived from sources like oats, yeast, and fungi. “[They] benefit all skin types,” she says. “It’s good for all skin because it provides deep hydration, strengthens the skin’s moisture barrier, and has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. This combination makes it excellent for soothing irritation and protecting the skin from environmental damage.”

Keep in mind, beta-glucan may not be the best ingredient for you if you deal with fungal acne, but if your breakouts are not fungal, it can be an amazing assistant when you’re in the process of clearing up your skin. Although it’s helpful for breakouts, it’s also generally great for skin that’s dry or dehydrated because provides moisture without being overly heavy on the skin.

Why Should You Add Beta-Glucan to Your Routine?

Plastic surgeon and founder of Asian Pacific Plastic Surgery Shim Ching, MD confirms that beta-glucan is a superhero when it comes to traumatized skin. “Most of the research around beta-glucans have been around how they help heal damaged skin,” he says. “We’re theorizing that they can help other skin problems by reducing inflammation, hydrating the skin, repairing the skin barrier and boosting the skin’s immune system.” Ching is referring to the fact that beta-glucan is known to stimulate the Langerhans cells—the immune cells within the skin’s epidermis layer. This initiates its immune and reparative functions.

Not only that, beta-glucan is really helpful for treating traumatized skin (like tretinoin damage), abrasions, damage, burns, oxidative stress, premature aging, acne, inflammation, and even calming rosacea. Basically, it does it all and everyone could benefit from adding it to their routine. Ching also suggests taking beta-glucan as a dietary supplement to get the full list of benefits. Beta-glucans can be found in oats, barley, wheat, rye, and certain mushrooms like shitake, maitake, and reishi.

If you struggle with breakouts, though, Vargas says it’s especially key. “Beta-glucan is an essential ingredient for acne-prone skin because it targets multiple issues that contribute to breakouts, including inflammation, a compromised skin barrier, and impaired healing,” she explains. “Traditional acne treatments can be harsh—beta-glucan is gentle and non-irritating, making it a safe choice for inflamed and impaired skin.”

Vargas knew beta-glucan would be perfect for my skin because I struggled with all of the above. It was tough to find ingredients that would clear my breakouts without causing more irritation and barrier damage. What truly helped was stopping all retinoids, exfoliating less, and giving my skin the time it needed to reset and heal. Adding DMK’s signature Beta Gel formula on top of that was the key to my success. Vargas recommended it to me and I haven’t looked back since.

The Best Products With Beta-Glucan

Beta Gel

Vargas recommended I try DMK’s signature beta gel formula because it’s designed to address reactive, chronically irritated, or traumatized skin. After I started using this, my skin totally changed. It wasn’t as red, reactive, or sensitive, and I was breaking out a lot less. I couldn’t believe the difference after just a few short months. It really goes to show that a skin reset is necessary sometimes—a.k.a., stopping all strong actives for a period of time (exfoliants and retinoids). DMK is an incredible brand (truly one of my all time favorites on the market), but it’s only available through an aesthetician. If you’re in the L.A. area, Vargas is amazing to chat with or you can go for celebrity facialist Candace Marino who is also a favorite and DMK therapist in the area. DMK also has a handy tool on their website to help you locate a practitioner near you.

Allies of Skin Beta Glucan & Resveratrol Advanced Hydrating Serum

This newer offering from Allies of Skin is a spendier option, but it’s totally worth the extra money. It’s one of the most hydrating formulas I’ve used boasting ingredients like beta-glucan, resveratrol, and a ceramide complex. It really locks hydration into the skin and even helps support collagen synthesis. Your skin is so radiant and plump after a few weeks of use.

Skincare Guru Ole Henriksen Says Smiling at Yourself in the Mirror Is Just as Important as Your Serums

by jummy84 November 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Good skin and good vibes! Skincare legend Ole Henriksen has pampered some of Hollywood’s most iconic faces including Barbra Streisand, Naomi Campbell, Cher, Diana Ross, Halle Berry, Laura Dern, Jessica Alba, and Katy Perry, and now he’s sharing his surprisingly simple secrets for getting a glow.

While his Scandaniva born brand is known for results-driven staples like the Violet Ice Cold Plunge Pore Mask, Hydrabarrier Nourishing Face Oil, Banana Bright + Eye Crème, Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment, and Dewtopia 5% Acid Firming Night Crème, he tells ET that real radiance starts from within.

“Famous or not, I’ve always treated everyone like a star. Everyone in my book always deserves the best. … My goal is to help everyone love themselves and their skin,” he explains.

This philosophy applies when clients visit the company’s spa in West Hollywood, California with “emotional” skin, from cystic acne flare ups to dull complexions. His solution: a mindset-first, moisturizer second approach.

“Skin is your biggest organ, so you need to take care of it like the rest of yourself. … It’s about lifestyle, both mental and physical, that cares for skin,” the founder explains.

“It’s important to take a moment for yourself. Get up a little earlier to relax in the moment and avoid being rushed or stressed. … Splash your face with cold water, look at yourself in the mirror, and lend yourself a smile. It’s all about an inner glow that radiates and a love affair with life.”

Then comes the products, which are applied slowly and intentionally with a calming touch.

“Do your own spa at home and give back to yourself and give back to yourself and your skin. Start with some deep breathing and close your eyes before filling your sink with warm water mixed with lavender or rosemary oil. Then, put a towel in the water and hold it on your skin to rev up circulation,” the entrepreneur recommends.

“From there, I massage each step of my routine gently into my skin with outward and upward motions and allow 1-2 minutes between to let everything soak in. …Plan the time and invest in you. … Your health is your wealth, and you are #1 in your life,” he shares.

Despite the growing ubiquity of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) medication use, there is still quite a bit of confusion, stigma and misinformation surrounding injections like Ozempic. There’s also a major lack of access for many patients who stand to benefit from the meds; Fitish founder Jenna …
