bitchy | Reid: Prince Andrew’s scandals show that Britain owes the Sussexes an apology

by jummy84 October 25, 2025
written by jummy84

As we recorded our first Gossip with Celebitchy podcast in months, CB and I talked about how the Prince Andrew situation blew up in the Windsors’ faces specifically because with the side-by-side comparison to how they treated the Sussexes. In my opinion, King Charles welcoming Andrew and Sarah Ferguson to so many public events (Christmas, Easter, funerals, the coronation) was always meant for an audience of one: Prince Harry. They were telling Harry, “this could have been your life, we would welcome you this way, if only you hadn’t left!” And now that everyone can plainly see just what an evil, degenerate, human-trafficking liar Andrew has always been, the Windsors just look crazy as hell. They look like they’re totally fine with all of Andrew’s depravity because he didn’t commit the ultimate sin of marrying a Black woman and moving out of the country. Well, the i Newspaper’s Rebecca Reid focused on this side-by-side comparison in a new column: “This is what a real royal scandal looks like – we owe Harry and Meghan an apology.” Six years too late, but sure.

There is so much that is sad about the story of the even-further-disgraced Prince Andrew and the late Virginia Giuffre. First and foremost is the trajectory of Giuffre’s life, which was cut horrifyingly short, and defined by the actions of the men who surrounded her as a teenager. But there are other sadnesses about this whole sordid mess, too. One is the way it puts in relief the previous most high profile royal “scandal”: the unhappiness and eventual departure of Harry and Meghan.

At the time, Harry and Megan’s defection from working royals to influencers/podcasters was a major controversy – one of the most serious the family had weathered in recent years. But now, in comparison to the miserable details alleged in Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir, we can see it for what it is: extremely small fry.

It’s really quite staggering that in their years as working royals, Harry and Meghan managed to be at the centre of dozens of dramas. Yet none of them could be described as actually dangerous or evil. Yes, Meghan did accuse the royals of racism – which was a terrible blow for the family, but that was all part of a battle to drag the royals into the 21st century. What’s more, they were at least trying to be the kind of royals the country would embrace.

Just look at their insistence on paying for the Frogmore Cottage renovation to deflect allegations that they were indulgent, despite the fact that they were entirely entitled to a renovated home. Were they occasionally cringe or tone-deaf? Yes. And doesn’t that seem like a complete non-issue when you see what a real scandal looks like?

If someone was sitting in an office cranking out inoffensive plot lines for the couple, they couldn’t have done a better job. And yet if social media is anything to go by, Harry and Meghan appear to be held in the low regard as Andrew and Fergie. It’s profoundly depressing.

This is despite the fact that Prince Andrew is accused of allegedly asking his personal protection officer to “dig up dirt” on Virginia Giuffre, presumably to create a smear campaign against a victim of sexual abuse. It’s not uncommon to see Andrew and the Sussexes discussed in the same breath. They are seemingly unified by the embarrassment they cause to The Firm, as if being embroiled in a horrifying sex scandal and maintaining a friendship with a convicted sex offender (while lying about being friends with said convicted sex offender) is on par with being a bit earnest in interviews, asking for security and selling overpriced jams.

There were rumours last month that Prince Harry’s presence in the UK, and audience with his father, might signal a return to the family fold. The onus seemed to be placed on Harry, as if it was his responsibility to convince the Mountbatten-Windsor clan to allow him back into family life. But if King Charles and the rest of the gang have even an ounce of sense, the events of the last week, and the juxtaposition between Andrew and Harry, should clarify exactly how lucky the royals were to have Harry and Meghan. And how advantageous it would be to bring them back. The pair might be cack-handed on the public relations front and I don’t deny that they’ve got a special skill for annoying the British public. But compared to Prince Andrew they’re literal angels.

[From The i Newspaper]

While I take this column at face value and I believe she’s being sincere, this column was actually depressing as well. Like, it’s taken this long for someone to acknowledge this? British people could only step back and say “wait, the Sussexes never did anything scandalous” only after the scope of Andrew’s criminality, lies, trafficking and degeneracy came to a head in recent weeks? Y’all didn’t realize that BEFORE October 2025? Where are the critical thinking skills over there? And of course it’s been obvious since 2020 that the Windsors should beg the Sussexes to come back. The fact that the Windsors refuse to – and also refuse to acknowledge how much they actually need the Sussex family – says everything you need to know about the lack of long-term planning within the institution.

Olivia Rodrigo closed out her blockbuster Guts World Tour with a secret show in New York City on Thursday night (Oct. 23), playing to an intimate crowd of fans, friends, and celebrity guests inside the historic Park Avenue Armory.

The invite-only event, hosted by American Express, featured a setlist packed with fan favorites — including “Drivers License,” “Vampire,” “Deja Vu” and “Sour” — as well as the rare live performance of “Lacy,” a track that has taken on a viral life of its own since being featured on the TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty.

“Ever since it was in that show, people have been chanting at me at concerts to sing this song if I wasn’t going to sing it,” Rodrigo told the crowd. “And so I’m really grateful to that show, and I’m really grateful to you guys for listening to this song and streaming it, because it’s always been one of my favorites.”

The “Good 4 U” singer also welcomed young fans from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, meeting with several attendees before the show. Proceeds from ticket sales benefited Rodrigo’s own Fund 4 Good, an initiative launched to support education, reproductive rights, and young women’s leadership programs.

Among those in attendance were Emily in Paris star Ashley Park, The Bear’s Molly Gordon, Vampire Diaries alum Nina Dobrev, makeup artist Patrick Ta, Good American founder Emma Grede, and interior designer Jeremiah Brent.

Rodrigo performed beneath the soaring arches of the Armory’s Drill Hall — a venue steeped in New York military history — which once housed the Seventh Regiment of the National Guard, the first volunteer militia to answer Abraham Lincoln’s call in 1861.

The secret concert marked the final stop on Rodrigo’s Guts World Tour, which kicked off earlier this year in Palm Springs and has since spanned over 75 dates across North America and Europe.

Rodrigo has placed 30 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2021 hit “Drivers License” was No. 1 for a whopping eight weeks. In total so far, she has three Hot 100 No. 1s and made headlines for her 2025 Lollapalooza performance, including a set during which she brought out Weezer.

Kim Kardashian to appear on The Graham Norton Show tonight

by jummy84 October 24, 2025
written by jummy84

The Graham Norton Show is gearing up to welcome a starry line-up tonight led by Kim Kardashian.

The reality star and businesswoman will appear on the BBC One chat show to talk about her upcoming drama series All’s Fair, in which she plays a high-powered divorce attorney.

Kardashian will be joined by Sarah Paulson, who she co-stars with in the Disney Plus series.

Former Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston will also feature on the programme to talk about his new role in the upcoming adaptation of Arthur Miller’s play All my Sons, which is set to run at Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End from 13th November until 7th March.

Actress Rachel Zegler will also be chatting to Graham about her recent award-winning performance as Evita on the West End.

During tonight’s episode, Kardashian – who made her acting debut in American Horror Story: Delicate in 2023 – says of her first leading role: “Working with a cast like this I wanted to make sure I was completely prepared. What I could control was absolutely knowing my lines, being on time and being super professional.

“These women are the greatest at what they do, and I just watched and learned every day. It was an honour, and I have just had the best time. Working with these women was like summer camp.”

Talking about her acting ambitions, she says: “I have a few projects coming up – I film my first movie in January, and we are hoping for a season 2 of All’s Fair. I always want to be growing, curious and evolving, and I want to see wherever that takes me.”

Revealing that the results of her bar exams are due soon, she adds: “I will be qualified in two weeks. I hope to practise law. Maybe in 10 years I think I’ll give up being Kim K and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”

Created by Ryan Murphy, All’s Fair follows a group of women who band together to launch their own divorce law firm and go to great lengths to get what they (and their clients) want.

Alongside Kardashian and Paulson, the star-studded cast also includes Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Matthew Noszka, Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close

A trailer was previously released, showing tension arising between Kardashian and Paulson’s characters when Noszka’s character tries to play the former at her own game.

The official logline reads: “Fierce, brilliant, and emotionally complicated, they navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets, and shifting allegiances — both in the courtroom and within their own ranks. In a world where money talks and love is a battleground, these women don’t just play the game — they change it.”

The Graham Norton Show airs on Friday 24th October at 10:40pm on BBC One.

Jane Schoenbrun Sets Netflix Show 'Black Hole'

Jane Schoenbrun Sets Netflix Show ‘Black Hole’

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

It won’t be long before all of our TVs are glowing with a new Jane Schoenbrun series.

The filmmaker is set to write and direct an adaptation of Charles Burns’ comic book series “Black Hole” co-produced by New Regency and Netflix, which has received a straight-to-series order from the streaming giant. The project will mark Schoenbrun’s first foray into television after directing the acclaimed films “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair” and “I Saw the TV Glow.”

News of the series was first reported by THR. IndieWire has reached out to Schoenbrun’s representatives for additional comment.

Published over the course of 12 issues between 1995 and 2005, “Black Hole” tells the story of a group of Seattle teenagers who develop severe genetic mutations after encountering a sexually transmitted disease known as “the Bug.” The material seems firmly within Schoenbrun’s wheelhouse, as the auteur often finds parallels between teenage sexual awakenings and genre film horrors.

Nobody Wants This Season 2 stars Kristen Bell as Joanne, Adam Brody as Noah, shown here sitting at a beer garden

The series marks Schoenbrun’s third major project to be announced since the success of “I Saw the TV Glow,” and the auteur will soon be rolling out work in three different mediums.

Their third feature film, “Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma,” is currently in post-production. The film, which follows a director hired to reboot a dated slasher franchise who becomes obsessed with reclusive star of the original movie, stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson.

Schoenbrun will also soon release their debut novel, “Public Access Afterworld,” which was originally developed as a TV series that never materialized. Schoenbrun changed course and the novel was acquired by Random House imprint Hogarth, with the author describing it as a conclusion to their loose “screen trilogy” that began with “We’re All Going to the World’s Fair” and “I Saw the TV Glow.”

The official synopsis for “Public Access Afterworld” reads: An epic blend of literary fantasy, coming-of-age, sci fi, and horror, “Public Access Afterworld” traces the mysterious transmissions of a secret television network known as Public Access Afterworld that draws in a wide cast of characters, from two teenage best friends in a suburban New York basement to a housewife during the last days of World War II to a young trans content moderator at a YouTube-like corporation, who becomes an unlikely hero capable of rescuing a century of victims disappeared into the broadcast’s signal. “Public Access Afterworld” is a thrilling and profound novel of identity, conspiracy, the secret occult history of American entertainment, and the narratives that guide our lives and shape our world.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Says League Is Committed To Bad Bunny Super Bowl Halftime Show Despite Backlash From Trump Administration

The NFL is backing #BadBunny!

Commissioner #RogerGoodell doubled down on the league’s decision to have Bad Bunny headline next year’s #SuperBowl Halftime Show, saying the #NFL remains committed despite backlash from the Trump administration and others. Praising the Puerto Rican superstar’s reach, Goodell said, “He’s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world. That’s what we try to achieve. It’s an important stage for us. It’s an important element to the entertainment value, and it’s carefully thought through,” adding that criticism comes with virtually every selection.

Goodell also signaled the show could expand beyond a solo set, noting the halftime stage often features surprise guests alongside the headliner. Citing recent examples, he pointed to #KendrickLamar’s show with appearances from #SZA, Serena Williams and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as #Usher’s 2024 set that brought out #Ludacris, Alicia Keys and #LilJon. “I am not saying that there won’t be additional talent that might be involved but that’s always the way it works,” he said of the production, which is done in partnership with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.

Greta Lee on her final episode of "The Morning Show"
TV & Streaming

Greta Lee Exits ‘The Morning Show’: Stella’s AI Disaster

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from “If Then,” the sixth episode of “The Morning Show” Season 4, now streaming on Apple TV.

Ladies and gentleman, Stella Bak has left the building. And the country. And the show.

In the sixth episode of the” fourth season of “The Morning Show,” the tech genius turned news division leader at UBN played by Greta Lee saw the carefully curated and swiftly ascendant life she built for herself come crashing down on top of her –– in front of 200 journalists, her boss Celine (Marion Cotillard) and the rest of the world.

“For me, this was that moment before an explosion,” Lee tells Variety. “It’s all of the centrifugal force that’s been piling up after years and years of having to operate a certain way. She has gotten quite savvy since the day she first arrived, but I think that it’s clear — or it was clear to me — that it’s not sustainable.”

Courtesy of Apple TV

It’s been one stumble after another this season for the woman who was first introduced to audiences in Season 2 as an intimidating problem-solver who’d sold her tech business and carved out a place for herself at a leading news network where women didn’t often find themselves in the C-Suite. But this season, Stella put everything on the line for her supposedly groundbreaking AI program (mind you, this is taking place in spring 2024) that can translate UBN’s popular anchors into any language ahead of the network’s global coverage of the Paris Olympics. But in the sixth episode, Stella’s crisis of conscious over her decision to not promote her friend Mia (Karen Pittman) because of pressures to elevate her male counterpart; Mia’s defiant return in which she declares Stella to be an enemy of the very progress she has long championed; and her ongoing affair with Miles (Aaron Pierre), Celine’s husband, leave Stella adrift.

In her voiceover across the episode, she laments that she has given in to the toxic pull of her “inner straight white guy” by doing what he would do –– “I fell into bed with the one person who could blow up his life.” While Miles isn’t the only thing putting pressure on the detonator, it doesn’t help the situation when she and Celine take the stage to present their ambitious Olympics coverage plan to the media. Hoping to distract the headline-hungry press from the network’s various other scandals, Stella rolls out a demonstration of her AI program, using her own manufactured image, despite telling Celine it isn’t ready. Unfortunately, her worst fear comes true when it not only malfunctions on stage, but regurgitates all the hurtful, racist and damning things Stella had spoken into it (aka herself) the night before in a digital-age version of taking a look at the mirror and asking if you like what you see.

The PR nightmare leaves Stella no choice but to resign. She initially retreats into the arms of Miles, and they resolve to run away to Naples together. But when she arrives at the airport with a hopeful smile and more time on her hands than usual, he texts her a simple “I’m sorry.” She gets on the plane anyway, and even Lee doesn’t know what awaits her on the other side.

“This is the end for her, as far as I know,” Lee says, confirming her exit, at least from Season 4. “But of course, since the show is so prescient and a direct commentary on what’s happening, I would love to see what kind of world would exist where she comes back, and what she might have to say.”

Stella’s undoing wasn’t a spiral contained to Season 4, though. Lee is of the camp that her downfall (at least professionally) started last season when she endured an excruciating lunch with a pair of slimy corporate investors. In order to gain their support and money, they forced her to command a waitress (also a woman of color) to lick a spilled drink off the table to prove she was one of the boys. Lee says Stella never recovered from compromising her ideals so irreversibly in that moment.

“But I’m hoping she will now get a chance to,” she adds. “I think that’s part of the problem for her. It’s like she hasn’t been afforded the opportunity to reflect or to forgive or even, in a lot of ways, acknowledge in a bigger way some of the things she’s endured and done in order to get to where she is. So I’m hoping she’s doing that on a beach somewhere.”

The implosion of Stella’s image, literally thanks to her own AI, is two-fold. It exposed her own deep concerns about the ways she has contributed to the company’s stunted progress for people and women of color at the network (Mia scolds her earlier for this, saying, “You’re not one of us — you never were.”). But her AI also talks about her affair with Miles –– right in front of Celine. The French CEO uses it to immediately take Stella out, corporately speaking.

The AI version of Stella presented in the series wasn’t quite the leap forward in technology that Hollywood fears and reviles, but rather just another task handed to Lee this season.

“Initially, I had to read opposite myself,” she says of the filming process. “The reality of what we’re doing is we’re showing tech that is developing as we speak. You see all the pitfalls of it, and how dangerous it can be if these guardrails aren’t put into place. So when I was doing it, it was a mess. I was doing a combination of reading with someone on script, and then also an image of myself that was like not quite the final product. Then going back and seeing what they generated and being totally weirded out by it — because trying to have any sort of the timing, comedic or dramatic, with a non-sentient representation of yourself is very weird.”

But she couldn’t just play herself. Lee and the creative team worked to find ways to make the AI present as technologically perfect, but also make sure the imperfections of AI were still on full display.

“We talked at length about how many blinks we were gonna do and blinking in the wrong place and how funny that is, because there are limits to the avatars,” she says. “That is what is so uncanny about them and why, arguably, they will never be good humans. There are certain qualities that are impossible to nail. So, yeah, we did get to play with a lot of that, and we had a lot of laughs.”

When she is betrayed by her own likeness, Stella can only look out onto a shocked audience, and happens to find a familiar –– albeit, not friendly –– face among them. Mia is watching from the nosebleed seats, and Stella has to process that moment through her as well. The two have been apprehensive advocates for each other over the past two seasons, and this season Stella vowed to go to bat for Mia’s bid for news director. But when she recanted on that to further her own ambition with AI and the network, Mia became the embodiment of Stella’s failings, one that haunts this scene like a ghost of what might have been.

Courtesy of Apple TV

“That moment was so fully loaded because she knows that there’s a betrayal between them, the kind that you can’t come back from,” Lee says. “For each of them and for so long, the option to fail was something that just never existed. Like, it just wasn’t possible. So to experience the pinnacle of failure in such a public way and have Mia be a witness to that, is almost too much to bear. That exchange, that wordless exchange across that room, is like a hundred words being said between the two of them.”

During the entire episode, Mia, Miles and Celine have all told Stella in one way or another why her decisions have set herself up for failure. With Miles especially, he admonishes her for choosing a man she could never truly have, despite their impassioned pleas to choose each other over his comfortable life and her career. However, his rejection of her at the airport in the execution of said plan may be the deepest cut in Stella’s no good, very bad day. She is left broken, unsure if she should still get on the plane or try to mend the wreckage in her wake.

In the final scene, Lee hesitates for a moment before letting Stella choose.

“I think it’s a whole new sensation that she has literally never experienced before,” she says. “It’s a lot to process within a few moments. When she realizes Miles isn’t coming, she is taking stock and realizing she has nothing. But the surprising thing for her and someone like her is in that moment of realizing she’s got nothing, it sort of means she’s got everything. That’s the gift of the horrible circumstances that have fallen on her. She really is free. I think, arguably, that step toward the plane is the scariest thing she’s probably ever done in her life.”

Don’t cry for Stella too much. Let’s not forget she sold her tech company for hundreds of millions, and had plenty of zeros on her paycheck before exiting stage left at UBN. So her next chapter will be very well-funded, even if her personal and professional lives are in shambles. But Stella has proven she is nothing if not resilient. The big question now is whether she will return to the show, as so many (maybe too many?) of UBN’s former execs have. Lee says she loves working with “The Morning Show” ensemble, and is always excited to spar with them over media jargon. But conversely, she’s also very protective of Stella and her journey, and she doesn’t think she should come back any time soon.

“When I think about her and what I want for her, I don’t know if there’s a place for her that exists quite yet,” Lee says. “I think the world has to shift a little bit more to make room for her in the way that I would want to see her. Otherwise, we’ll just see her being a slave to this corporation. Being a slave to unfulfilled desires, and I don’t want that for her.”

Given that “The Morning Show” exists about a year and change behind our own timeline, audiences may be waiting a long time for our current world to be worthy of Stella Bak’s resurrection. Until then, Lee hopes she is spending some of those millions somewhere far from the 24-hour news cycle.

“I want her to be completely taken by surprise by what’s out there for her,” Lee says. “If she ever comes back, I want her to be sort of like Matthew McConaughey as the beach bum, with bongos and the hair. I want her to really be roughed up a little bit by real-world living. Just to feed her soul a little bit, and become a person. Because I really do think it’s from that place that maybe she would have something ingenious to offer.”

But for those who watched the episode and momentarily thought Stella had suddenly died off screen, you weren’t alone. When Alex (Jennifer Aniston) announces Stella’s resignation on air, the reflective script on her career at UBN sounded an awful lot like a eulogy, so much so that some people even mentioned it to Lee.

“Jen was crying when she came to set on my last day,” Lee says. “It was so sweet, and Mimi [Leder] had such beautiful words that day. We are a family, so it was really moving. But you’re not alone if you thought that was a eulogy. Some other people on our crew were like: ‘This is a eulogy. What’s happening?’”

‘The Morning Show’ Star Greta Lee Confirms Stella’s Show Exit

by jummy84 October 22, 2025
written by jummy84

[This story contains MAJOR spoilers from the sixth episode of season four of The Morning Show, “If Then.”]

Stella Bak has exited The Morning Show, stage left.

The fan-favorite character played by Greta Lee, who joined the Emmy-winning Apple TV series in season two, has exited the series. In the sixth episode of season four, titled “If Then,” Stella’s gamble with AI implodes when the CEO of the media company at the heart of the series suffers a public breakdown that, if you ask showrunner Charlotte Stoudt, was a long time coming.

“I was interested in Stella as a person who grew up in tech, who always thought of tech as something like a superpower that could enhance her. What happens when tech becomes a way to look in the mirror and ask, who am I really? Am I on the right path?” Stoudt recently told THR about writing Lee’s final episode.

After Stella’s affair with the husband (Aaron Pierre) of her new boss Celine Dumont (played by Marion Cotillard) is exposed during a malfunctioning presentation about the company’s new gamble into AI, the CEO walks out on the media empire she had been so devoted to rebuilding, and hopes to meet Celine’s husband at the airport for a getaway. But ultimately Stella is jilted at the airport, and she walks onto the plane alone with her future left unwritten.

“It was very emotional [filming her final scene]. Just thinking about it, I tear up. It was very hard to leave her, even though it was time for Stella to go rediscover some part of herself, and she couldn’t do that at UBN,” explains Stoudt of Stella’s goodbye. “She had to get on that plane by herself. When you really are at a crossroads, people can support you, but you can’t have a buddy. You have to figure it out by yourself.”

After speaking with Stoudt, The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Lee herself to find out what precipitated the in-demand actor’s exit from the series (she’s also currently starring in Tron: Ares) and how she imagines her character’s road to rediscovery as she confirms her series farewell: “It was time for her to go,” she explains below.

***

When I spoke to Charlotte Stoudt, she said this is the end for Stella on the show. I want to hear it from you…this is your exit from the show?

This is the first time I’m saying it out loud but yeah, this is the end. This is goodbye.

I hate this!

I know, it’s terrible!

I figured Stella would return at some point later in the season. [Note: Four episodes remain.]

I know, I know. It’s shocking. But, this is it. This is the end of the road for her, and I feel all kinds of things. We’re with these characters for so long, it’s surreal. I haven’t been able to say anything because I didn’t want to spoil it, but I’ve known for some time now that this is the end of the road for her and this is her goodbye.

What was your conversation like with Charlotte going into this fourth season? When you found out this was her arc — how did you react?

There were a lot of factors. Of course, I would have loved to have stayed on indefinitely. This is like family to me. I moved to L.A. because of this show a few years ago from New York. I had my babies while doing the show and so much has happened. But it got to the point where it just wasn’t possible. These shows are such a commitment. We kept trying and it just got harder and harder, scheduling-wise, to be there, and to be able to hand over my resources and time to keep being on the show. So this was where we had to land. I was like, “Well, I have this amount of time while filming Tron and Late Fame and Kathryn Bigelow’s movie A House of Dynamite,” so the writers came back with this storyline and it’s so bittersweet, but I also feel this was the end. Sometimes it’s that hard thing where it’s time. It’s time for a character to move on.

It was always really important to me to not show a false happy ending for the sake of it. It’s always been part of Stella’s legacy that she has had to navigate all kinds of things in her position. The changing world and her own changing relationship with her ambition and what she wants. On the one hand, it could go on and on. But I also don’t know how realistic that would have been in terms of really showing all the different challenges that come with being Stella in this world.

Well, it makes me feel better that this was a mutual decision.

It was time to go, really. I wish I could split up into different people and just keep doing everything, but that would be physically impossible.

Apple TV

When you think about Stella getting on that plane, what do you imagine her road to rediscovery looks like? Do you see her returning to media eventually, or running a tiki bar somewhere?

I think she’ll go to the tiki bar and maybe last a few weeks. It’s so ingrained in her to be a fighter and a worker. I love her. She’s brilliant and such an innovator; she’s the ultimate big-picture thinker. The entire genesis of her wanting to take on this job and leaving the world of tech to come onto UBA, which is now UBN, is that she really believed in redefining what the news could be. As we know, that’s a question that’s certainly going on now, and that’s not going away anytime soon, and I love that about her. She’s thinking, “How can I utilize the news in the best way it could possibly be utilized, and what is the future?”

She really was thinking about all of that, but I think the tragedy sometimes is that the world, both in media and at large, sometimes can’t support your vision. And it’s heartbreaking. So in my fantasy, I imagine there are Stellas out there everywhere who are plotting their comeback and who are thinking about the future and who are committed, and can’t not think about it any other way. I think she’s plotting and scheming and will be back in some way.

What was your interaction with AI while making AI Stella for the presentation?

They had some amazing tech. It was special effects; a lot of it was put in later. But I have never had to do a scene with myself, and I found it very odd. I think that speaks to how bizarre that whole moment was. We wanted to show in real time our own collective awkwardness with AI and ChatGPT. Every day, our relationship becomes more intimate, but this is all a growing thing that’s happening right now. We wanted to show the sloppiness of that — to say the least, considering what happens. I think it’s great they didn’t want to lean away from the pitfalls of what can happen, on its worst day, if this kind of tech is left unchecked, and let run rampant. I think we have to be very deliberate and not be passive in watching how all of this evolves, and making sure we are putting in some guardrails up as to how it’s regulated and who exactly it’s serving in the end.

I understand the last scene you filmed was walking down that hallway after the presentation. We didn’t see your face. What emotions were you feeling, and how did you react when they called “cut”?

Yes, right after the presentation. I feel emotional now. There were definitely some tears. The crew — we’ve been family for years and years, and have been through so much. We came together in COVID and were one of the first productions up and running again, trying to navigate this whole new frontier. We’ve been through the strike together, the L.A. fires. I always felt with Stella like we were doing something new. That was something I could never take for granted every day I was at work. Given everything that happened and knowing we were moving toward this goodbye, it was painful. I’m not one to carry things home with me, because I have two young kids who have zero tolerance or patience for that; but it was hard.

That scene — we filmed the big AI presentation at the Academy Museum — I got so sick. I got some sort of bug. I rarely get sick, and we had to stop and shut down production with all these extras. Millicent Shelton, our incredible director, had to hold my hair back! I was shaking and it was horrible. I remember [producer] Michael Ellenberg at the time was like, “Wow, is this method?” I was like, “No!” I’d never been that sick before and it’s on the day, of course, that I have to go up and give this presentation to 100-plus background actors. I really felt for myself, but I felt for Stella in that moment.

Maybe you were having a reaction to leaving the show.

It is overwhelming to think about goodbyes. It’s bittersweet. But it’s honest, I think, in terms of where her story is and where she finds herself in season four with all the relationships she’s had. And it’s not casual. It’s so heartbreaking. The scene we did with Mia, with Karen Pittman, where I had to tell her she didn’t get the job after years of promising her — in our complicated, beautiful relationship as co-workers and friends — having to deliver the news of that betrayal was so awful. We were crying. It was torture. That really sucked. But on those hard days, we try to remember we’re just being honest about what the dynamic is and what it would be like for them.

I hope you come back for at least a Jon Hamm-style two-episode arc in season five.

(Laughs.)

Ethel Cain Apologizes After Ending Paris Show Early

Ethel Cain has issued an emotional apology after abruptly ending her Oct. 17 show in Paris following just three songs.

The alt-pop singer was performing the first of two nights at Paris’ L’Olympia when she walked offstage in tears during her fourth track, “Nettles,” leaving the concert unfinished.

Venue staff later cited “technical issues” and “unforeseen circumstances” to the crowd. Cain later clarified the situation via Instagram Stories, writing, “Hi Paris. My apologies for the show last night. I’ve been having a bit of a time lately and sometimes it unpredictably bleeds over onto the stage.

“I’m sorry I wasn’t able to finish the set but I’m looking forward to tonight’s show and I can’t wait to see all of you.To everyone who attended last night, I apologize again for the disappointment and the planning that I’m sure went into you attending. It means a lot to me that you came and I’m sorry I let you down,” she added.

The show was part of Cain’s European tour in support of her sophomore album Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, which dropped in August. The release was billed by Cain as the final chapter in her Ethel Cain character arc — a deeply conceptual project spanning trauma, Americana, and Southern Gothic mythology.

The singer’s Paris set was intended to include material from both her new album and her critically acclaimed 2022 debut Preacher’s Daughter. A second Paris show at the same venue was still scheduled to go ahead on Oct. 19.

The emotional breakdown follows a turbulent few months for the artist. In July, several controversial old social media posts resurfaced, prompting Cain to issue a public apology. She described some of the content as “shameful” but also said those resurfacing it were attempting to “destroy” her.

The following month,  Lana Del Rey posted a song snippet taking aim at Cain. Del Rey shared a video clip of herself with the caption “Track 13” and tagging producer Jack Antonoff, in which she called out the “American Teenager” singer by name. “Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post/ Think it’s cute re-enacting my Chicago pose,” she sings in the clip. Later in the snippet, she referred to “the most famous girl at the Waffle House.”

Cain appeared to comment on the whole ordeal in a Instagram Stories, writing, “update: lana del rey has blocked ethel cain on instagram.”

bitchy | Emails show Jeffrey Epstein ‘secretly bankrolled’ Sarah Ferguson for 15 years

by jummy84 October 21, 2025

Over the summer, when royal biographer Andrew Lownie was promoting his book, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, he made some interesting claims specifically about Sarah Ferguson and Jeffrey Epstein. According to Lownie’s research and sources, Epstein had given Fergie close to $2 million all told, across many years. When Fergie publicly apologized in 2011 for “borrowing $15K” from Epstein, many felt it was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to how much money she actually conned out of Epstein. Well, now that more of the Epstein files/emails are coming out, it looks like Lownie had it right. And it was probably much, much worse than Lownie knew. According to this Daily Mail exclusive, Epstein “secretly bankrolled” Fergie for 15 years. Some highlights from the Mail:

Jeffrey Epstein secretly bankrolled Sarah Ferguson for 15 years, astonishing new emails claim. The convicted paedophile complained to friends about the disgraced duchess’s scrounging ways in messages that suggest his financial support went far beyond the £15,000 she admitted taking from him.

In the previously unseen emails, Epstein reveals Fergie was so desperate to cosy up to him that ‘she was the first to celebrate’ his release from jail ‘with her two daughters in tow’. Princess Beatrice would have been 20 at the time and Eugenie 19, the same age as many of his victims.

The shocking claims are contained in a huge tranche of documents under review by the US Congress. They are set to be released once they have been redacted to protect the identity of hundreds of young girls Epstein raped and sexually abused. The sordid nature of Fergie’s relationship with the paedophile and the chummy tone of their correspondence makes sickening reading that will repulse the sex offender’s many victims.

Emails seen by The Mail on Sunday show: Fergie begged to borrow $50,000 to $100,000 to help with ‘small bills’; She asked to visit Epstein’s private island, joking whether her financial woes made it ‘unavailable to bankrupts?’; Epstein paid off debts the duchess owed a former employee but became angry when she failed to pay him back as promised; While disavowing Epstein in public, Fergie kept up contact and let him help set up a charity for her; Epstein brazenly gave Fergie ‘talking points’ before she was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.

Tonight a well-placed source said: ‘Sarah and Prince Andrew have always maintained they distanced themselves from Epstein after his conviction for child prostitution. In fact, it was Epstein who ended up dumping them. He got sick and tired of Sarah constantly asking him for money. She borrowed far more money off him than has ever come out. In public she said one thing but in private she was always holding out the begging bowl.’

Earlier emails show how close the pair were, despite Epstein having admitted to soliciting a minor for prostitution in a ‘sweetheart deal’ that led to 13 months in a low-security jail with day release. He was let out in July 2009 and remained under house arrest until July 21, 2010. He exchanged a number of emails with Fergie in that time. In June 2010, Sarah told Epstein: ‘I will never forget your kindness and friendship at this time’ to which he replied: ‘A-team or no team. It’s your line.’

On January 16, 2010, Sarah wrote: ‘Is there any chance I could borrow 50 or 100,000 US dollars to help get through the small bills that are pushing me over? Had to ask.’ Epstein was having his bank accounts monitored at the time and said he couldn’t help. Undeterred, Sarah told him to ‘ask Giuseppe… I would be so grateful.’ Epstein replied: ‘I could but it would be impolite. You need to address these issues. You are great.’ It is thought this is a reference to New York restaurant owner Giuseppe Cipriani, an old friend of the duchess. Tonight his representative declined to say whether Mr Cipriani gave Fergie money.

A source said tonight: ‘Andrew and Sarah were in it up to their necks with Epstein. It was always about the money. This was always going to be their downfall.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Re: Fergie borrowing/taking all of that money, I’ll admit to finding it morbidly and horrifically funny in a way. Fergie was and is such an unrepentant grifter that she was conning a convicted sex trafficker out of millions, millions he “earned” through blackmailing public figures with what he knew of their criminal predilections. Fergie didn’t care about any of that – she thought she had found the golden goose, the mark of her dreams. As for connecting Beatrice and Eugenie to this, and Fergie taking her daughters to see Epstein after he got out of prison… YIKES. Holy sh-t. Whatever deal struck by Prince Andrew and King Charles, it included a hands-off approach to Bea and Eugenie – as in, Charles wouldn’t touch their titles. I wonder if we’re going to find the princesses’ names in more emails. What a mess.
