The Cure Announce The Show of a Lost World Concert Film

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Back in October, The Cure hinted at what they’d called “The Show of a Lost World film.” Now, full details have emerged as the iconic rockers have announced yet another project in continued support of last year’s Songs of a Lost World.

Due in select cinemas worldwide on Thursday, December 11th, The Cure: The Show Of A Lost World is a 4K, remixed and re-cut film chronicling the band’s full November 1st, 2024 performance at London’s Troxy. (It was not only the album’s release day, but the band’s first and only show at the storied venue.) The film was directed by Nick Wickham (who previously worked with Rihanna, Madonna, and The Big 4), and mixed by The Cure Robert Smith himself. It follows another Songs release from this past April, Songs of a Lost World Remixed.

The full performance spans 31 tracks, including the entirety of Songs of a Lost World, as well as a five-song set commemorating the 45th anniversary of Seventeen Seconds. Other standout tracks include “A Night Like This,” “From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea,” “Disintegration,” “Play for Today,” and “The Walk.” Following the cinematic event, the film will be released on Blu-Ray and DVD in late December 2025.

“The Cure’s impact cannot be underestimated and this film is a testament to the artistry and depth of their music,” said Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby, who are handling the home release. “It’s a pleasure to bring The Show of a Lost World to cinemas globally and give fans everywhere the opportunity to experience together this extraordinary concert on the big screen.”

If you’d like to see The Cure live and in person, they’ll be on tour in the UK and Europe next summer. In addition to October’s tease regarding the film, the band recently confirmed work on their 15th studio album. Stay tuned for more.

Watch Måneskin’s Victoria De Angelis join Duran Duran for ‘Psycho Killer’ at Halloween Manchester show

Duran Duran brought out Måneskin‘s Victoria De Angelis for a rendition of ‘Psycho Killer’ at their Halloween show in Manchester – check out clips of the moment below.

  • READ MORE: Duran Duran: “We’d love to do Glastonbury – we just need the right slot”

Last night (October 31) marked the first time the ‘80s pop icons have held their annual Halloween show in the UK. The tradition began back in 2022 after the band played an exclusive one-off show at the Wynn Theatre in Las Vegas. Taking place on Halloween, the gig saw Simon Le Bon and co. break out huge hits and rarities with a darker theme than usual.

That gig would later become immortalised with the release of their 16th album ‘Danse Macabre’ – a record that pieced together new music, darkly reimagined versions of Duran Duran’s classic songs, and covers of Billie Eilish and Talking Heads.

Since then, the one-off Halloween shows have continued each year, with fans encouraged to come dressed in Halloween attire, as was the case at the Co-op Live venue in Manchester last night.

The gig saw them joined by bassist De Angelis, who dressed as an angel, for Talking Heads’ 1977 classic ‘Psycho Killer’, which follows her playing it on ‘Danse Macabre’ alongside former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor on guitar.

When they first teamed up for the cover, the band’s John Taylor said De Angelis was “probably the most important electric bassist out there right now”.

He continued: “I met a couple of the guys from Måneskin at a party and they said, ‘you’ve got to meet our bass player.’ She’s such a dynamo! I was like ‘what inspired you?’ and Vic said, ‘Tina Weymouth’. So when Psycho Killer made the cut for the album, I thought, ‘I’m gonna ask her if she’d like to have a bass-off!’”

De Angelis said being asked to feature on the album was “such a wild honour”, adding: “I met John at a party, and we immediately bonded talking about music and bass. I told him Tina Weymouth was my absolute pinnacle of cool, attitude and incredible musicianship all rolled into one, and he told me he also started playing bass inspired by her and she was one of his music idols.”

News of last night’s Halloween gig came shortly after Duran Duran had announced two huge shows in Ireland at the start of the year, which will be held in the next couple of weeks and see Nile Rodgers and Chic open. Afterwards, they will play two UK shows, one in Exeter and one in Chelmsford.

Around the time that the ‘Danse Macabre’ album was announced, the band spoke to NME about how they would love to play at Glastonbury – something they have surprisingly not yet done. “I’d love to [do it] – we just need to get the right slot, that’s all,” Le Bon said.

“We have had the chance to do it before, but it wasn’t playing the main stage and I think we’d like to be doing that for sure. I’m sure we’re in negotiations [with Glastonbury], and if not, we will be.”

As for De Angelis, last year, she announced a new solo project that saw her trade in her signature rock sound for DJ decks and something much more dance club ready with the release of debut track ‘GET UP BITCH! (Shake Ya Ass)’ – a high-energy dance song that fuses bouncy techno with baile funk and features Anitta.

Speaking about the collaboration, De Angelis told NME that her love of “baile funk and Brazilian Latin club music” offered “the perfect combination of all the sounds I like combined with hard techno”.

Enrique Iglesias’ Concert In Mumbai Is A Night To Remember: ‘Bailamos’ And ‘Hero’ Steal The Show | Glamsham.com

Global pop sensation Enrique Iglesias made a spectacular comeback to India this week, performing two consecutive sold-out concerts at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds on October 29 and 30. The performances, part of his ongoing world tour, marked his first appearance in the country since 2012 — a return fans had been waiting over a decade for.

For those who grew up listening to his music, the nights were filled with nostalgia and emotion. Enrique delivered a hit-packed setlist featuring classics like Bailamos, Escape, Hero, and Be With You, as the audience sang along to every lyric. During Hero, he paused mid-performance to let the crowd take over, smiling warmly and greeting fans with a heartfelt “Namaste.” The connection between the singer and his Indian fans was electric, transforming the arena into a sea of voices and memories.

Enrique Iglesias didn’t just perform he took our breath away!

In a surprise moment, Enrique playfully introduced the iconic beat of Panjabi MC’s “Mundian Tu Bach Ke Rahi”, sending the crowd into a frenzy before shifting smoothly into his next number. While his vocals occasionally showed the wear of time, his charisma, energy, and sincerity more than compensated. Sharing memories of his first India visit in 2004, Enrique’s reminiscence drew loud cheers from long-time followers.

The audience also included several Bollywood celebrities — among them Malaika Arora, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Sonal Chauhan, and Pragya Jaiswal — all seen dancing and singing along to his timeless hits.

For over an hour, Enrique’s show felt less like a typical concert and more like an emotional reunion, uniting generations through music. Even without flawless vocals, his warmth and connection made the night unforgettable — a celebration of memories, melody, and enduring love from Indian fans.

SkyShowtime Orders ‘Pionek,’ Continuation of Polish Hit Show ‘Śleboda’

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Crime drama Śleboda (Deadly Ties), streaming service SkyShowtime‘s first locally commissioned Polish original series, which has turned out to be an audience hit, will return for another season under the working title Pionek, the joint venture of Comcast and Paramount Skydance said on Thursday. It will be based on the second novel in the critically acclaimed series of novels by Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński that was adapted for Śleboda.

Pionek, set to start production later this year, marks SkyShowtime’s first Polish recommission and will continue the story of Anka Serafin and Sebastian Strzygoń, with Maria Dębska and Maciej Musiał set to return in the lead roles.

Śleboda quickly became the streamer’s best-performing series in the market to-date, leading SkyShowtime to make it available across all its more than 20 markets. The series revolved around Anka (Dębska), a young anthropologist on a journey of self-discovery, who travels to the beautiful landscape of the Podhale region at the foot of the Tatra mountains only to stumble upon a dead body. She quickly becomes entangled in a murder mystery, crossing paths with Sebastian (Musiał), a shameless journalist on the hunt for a scoop, and Jędrek (Pacek), a local police officer with whom she shared a teenage romance.

Pionek will again be written by Karolina Frankowska and Katarzyna Golenia and directed by Michał Gazda and Bartosz Blaschke. Maciej Lisiecki will serve as the director of cinematography. Magdalena Szwedkowicz (Forgotten Love) and her MAG Entertainment will once again produce the series.

The show joins the streamer’s growing slate of original Polish productions, including The Cop. A New Chapter, and the upcoming first Polish documentary series, Krychowiak: One Step From the Top.

Said SkyShowtime chief content officer Kai Finke: “Following on from the stand-out success of SkyShowtime original Śleboda, we’re incredibly excited to continue the gripping story of Anka Serfain and Sebastian Strzygoń with Pionek, sharing another compelling instalment from Małgorzata Fugiel-Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński’s acclaimed crime series. As our first Polish recommission, Pionek marks a thrilling new chapter for Polish drama on SkyShowtime and reflects our commitment to working with the best creative talent to produce authentic, locally produced storytelling.”

Reigning Champ Faces a Tough Challenge From Former Reality Show Contestant

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Management consultant Shaan Mirshra returned to defend his title of Jeopardy! champion after beating Tom Devil in last Friday’s showdown. The Carmel, Indiana, resident returns to the podium with a one-day total of $15,600. Will he add to his winnings, or will a new contestant steal his title?

On Monday, October 27, Mishra faced off against Morgan Walker, a marketing director from Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Aaron Levine, a sports anchor from Seattle, Washington. If Levine looks familiar, it’s because he previously competed on the reality series Dream Job, where he came in second place.

Will they have what it takes to topple the champ?

Ken Jennings welcomed back Mishra and told the anecdote about the young contestant getting the call to be on Jeopardy! while he was on a 17-country backpacking trip. “Quite a Jeopardy! journey for Shaan so far,” commented the host.

Mishra started the game with “Rainforest Meet Desert” for $1,000, which offered the clue: “Much of Eastern Washington is deserty scablands; Out west, this rainforest-filled national park lies on the same-name peninsula.” Levine buzzed in first with the correct answer, “What is Olympic?,” giving him the lead.

Just two clues in and Levine found the first Daily Double of the game under “Final Resting Places” for $800. Wagering $1,000 on the clue, “Levallois-Perret Cemetery is where this civil engineer known as the ‘Magician of Iron’ came to rest after his 1923 death,” Levine got the right answer with Gustave Eiffel. With that correct answer, Levine was able to jump into an early lead.

By the first break, Levine was ahead with $4,400 and Walker was next with $2,000, while champ Mishra was in third with $1,800.

During the anecdote section of the game, Walker talked about her mountain home, where her neighbors are “a river, and a Wendy’s,” which makes her abode a favorite destination for the local bear population. Levine talked about his job as a local sportscaster, and how he was stoked with Jennings reposted one of his commentaries. And Mishra talked about his early entrepreneurial days, when he started a pop-up restaurant while in college that boasted a four-course tasting menu. “I think I set off smoke alarms in six different kitchens in my life,” said the champ. “But I accept no responsibility!”

By the end of the first round of Jeopardy!, Levine was in the lead with $7,200, champ Mishra was second with $4,000, and Walker was in third with $2,200.

In the Double Jeopardy round, Leven found the second Daily Double of the game in the category of “A Bit O’ Lit” for $1,600. The clue was: “A group of 10 young people head to a country villa to escape the plague afflicting Florence in this 14th-century work.” With a wager of $5,000 on his total of $9,200, Levine answered correctly, “The Decameron.” His total surged to $14,200, placing him well ahead of Walker, who had $2,200, and Mishra, whose total was $4,000.

Just three clues later, Mishra found the third and final Daily Double under “Czech Yourself” for $1,600. The clue was, “If you’re gonna defenestrate, do it in Prague, site of them in 1419, 1483 & 1618, the proximate cause of this conflict.” Betting $4,000 against his $6,000 total, Mishra answered incorrectly with Crimean War (the correct answer was the Thirty Years’ War). This plummetted the champ to third place with a $2,000 total, as Walker had a pot of $2,2000 and Levine was in first with a healthy $15,500.

Going into Final Jeopardy, Levine was in the lead with $14,600, Walker moved to second with $10,200, and champ Mishra was in third with $4,800.

The Final Jeopardy category was “On The Map” with the clue: “An official American Viticultural Area spanning multiple states includes this eastern island where you’ll find the town of Chilmark.” Walker lost  with her answer, “What is Long Island?” She bet almost her entire pot with a wager of $10,198, leaving her with $2. Both Mishra and Levine got the right answer with, “What is Martha’s Vineyard?” Mishra bet $4,000, bringing his total to $8,800, which was not enough to hold on to his title as Levine wagered $6,000, marking his total at $20,600.

And with that, Jeopardy! has a new champion with Aaron Levine.

Drake joins Vybz Kartel for historic Canadian show

by jummy84 October 27, 2025
written by jummy84

TORONTO – When Drake was a teenager, he’d stand outside Toronto’s long-gone Escape Nightclub handing out flyers just to get inside and lose himself in Vybz Kartel’s music. On Sunday night, he came full circle, recalling that memory on stage as he welcomed the dancehall star for his first-ever Canadian concert at Scotiabank Arena.

Kartel, dressed head to toe in Blue Jays gear, kicked off night one of three sold-out Toronto shows at the venue, becoming the first Jamaican artist to achieve the milestone.

“Look at all these people right here, how much time we’ve spent with this man’s music right here,” Drake told a frenzied crowd.

Moments earlier, the Toronto rapper made a surprise appearance, performing a string of hits — including 2016’s “Controlla” and this year’s “Nokia” — from a balcony in the arena’s lower level.

“We’ve been waiting to see you our whole [expletive] lives. Welcome home — we’re so happy to have you,” Drake told Kartel before asking permission to play some songs.

The Toronto shows, presented by Drake’s company OVO, have been long-awaited by Canadian fans. Born Adidja Palmer, Vybz Kartel is one of dancehall’s most influential — and controversial — figures. He rose to prominence in the early 2000s with hits blending dancehall and hip-hop, and continued releasing music even after his 2014 murder conviction and life sentence. Several albums, including 2016’s Billboard-charting “King of the Dancehall,” were recorded covertly from prison.

Kartel’s conviction was overturned in March 2024 due to juror misconduct, and he was released last year. Since then, the 49-year-old has earned a Grammy nomination, embarked on a world tour and released a steady stream of new music.

Drake has long credited Kartel as one of his biggest influences, referencing him in interviews and on social media. Drake invited Kartel to join him on stage at London’s Wireless Festival over the summer, and their collaboration continued on Canadian soil Sunday.

The crowd thundered when Kartel took the stage to his remix of Akon’s 2004 hit “Locked Up,” wielding a baseball bat and wearing a powder-blue Blue Jays jersey with “Worl’ Boss” — one of his nicknames — stitched on the back.

“Canada, we’re here!” he declared. “Yo, big up Blue Jays.”

Despite pushing 50 and battling Graves’ disease, Kartel’s energy was turned to 11 for the entire show. Pumping his knees and bounding down the stage like a one-man parade, he unleashed hits including “Romping Shop,” “It Bend Like Banana” and “Go Go Wine,” the audience gyrating and belting along to every word.

At one point, Kartel became emotional while recounting landing in Toronto earlier in the day.

“I tell you, tears came to my eyes because I’ve never been here before and I know the people want to see me,” he shared.

“I literally cried. Me, a grown-ass man. I said God is the greatest.”

Several attendees said they never thought they’d see the day Kartel performed in Canada.

Daniella Mcleary said she’s been listening to the dancehall star since “before I was old enough to be listening to him,” and scrambled to get tickets when the shows were announced.

“I think everyone that’s Caribbean was trying to get here today. Toronto has such a big Caribbean community, especially Jamaican, so we’re all going to come together and vibe,” she says.

“He could have sold out the Rogers Centre, too, easily.”

Brittney Sinclair, who was born in Jamaica, says Kartel is embedded in Caribbean culture.

“I view him as a national hero, and I think it’s a miracle he’s here today,” she says, noting that it’s all the more remarkable given his time behind bars.

Sharda Persaud says she’s been waiting for Kartel to play Canada for as long as she can remember.

“I feel like every memory in high school goes back to a Kartel song,” she says.

“His music also instantly transports me to Caribana. It’s everything.”

Sherry Singh credits “Romping Shop” for bringing her and her partner together.

“It was playing at a club and it led to some good loving,” she laughs. “15 years later, we’re still grinding to it.”

Still, she believes dancehall has been overlooked by the Canadian mainstream, despite its importance to the Caribbean community.

“To see Vybz here, on our home turf, means a lot,” she says.

“This is a good first step, but we need to see more.”

Zohran Mamdani appears at PinkPantheress show in Brooklyn ahead of New York mayoral election

by jummy84 October 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani appeared during PinkPantheress’ Brooklyn show just days before the mayoral election.

The left-wing candidate will be on the ballot on November 4 to be the new Mayor of New York City, in the contest to replace the outgoing Democrat Eric Adams, and just 10 days before the election, he popped up at the PinkPantheress concert to urge people to get out their vote.

On Friday night (October 24), the singer and musician kicked off her ‘An Evening With PinkPantheress’ North American tour with a show at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, and during a performance of ‘True Romance’ from her 2023 debut album ‘Heaven Knows’, the video backdrop behind her had a surprise for fans.

A pair of hands appeared on the screen, with “Our Time Has Come” and “Vote Nov. 4” written on the two palms. As the camera pulled back, it revealed Mamdani, who was greeted with loud cheers from the crowd.

Watch footage here:

@zararahim

couldn’t stop laughing, this was so loud – we love you Vicky! Vote Nov 4 😭 #pinkpantheress #zohranmamdani @😘🙈☺️

Mamdani also popped up during Lucy Dacus’ show at All Things Go in New York last month. “This is what our city should feel like,” he told the crowd. “It should be a city where trans New Yorkers are cherished, a city where our queer neighbours are celebrated, and a city where each and every New Yorker can be the fullest version of themselves. And it has to be a city that all of us can afford.”

As for PinkPantheress, her latest studio album was ‘Fancy That’, which was released in May and later nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize. The album scored a four-star review from NME, with Kyann-Sian Williams writing: “With ‘Fancy That’, PinkPantheress is kicking down the door to her next chapter – one that promises to be more adventurous than ever. She’s no longer content with being the elusive girl behind the screen, proving she can shapeshift, push boundaries and still keep us hooked – all in under 20 minutes.”

The star-studded remix album ‘Fancy Some More?’ arrived this month, featuring the likes of SEVENTEEN, JADE, Kylie Minogue, Sugababes and Zara Larsson. NME awarded that one three stars, noting: “’Fancy Some More?’ is ambitious and kaleidoscopic, packed with heavyweight collaborators and wildly inventive reinterpretations, but it rarely recaptures the tight, unruly charm of ‘Fancy That’.”

Last month, NME attended PinkPantheress’ show at the O2 Academy Brixton and rated the gig four stars: “By the end, when the cast bowed and hugged onstage, the night felt less like a polished pop spectacle and more like a madcap show-and-tell with a superstar host. It may not have reinvented the live experience, but it proved PinkPantheress’ real gift: she knows how to turn a massive venue into something intimate, funny and unhinged.”

See Jackson Browne, Dwight Yoakam Cover Warren Zevon at Tribute Show

Fountains of Wayne, Marshall Crenshaw, Shooter Jennings and more also take part in Los Angeles gig honoring Rock Hall-bound singer-songwriter

Jackson Browne, Dwight Yoakam, and Fountains of Wayne were among the artists to cover Warren Zevon at a Los Angeles tribute concert honoring the late Rock Hall-bound singer-songwriter.

Marshall Crenshaw, Shooter Jennings, Steve Wynn, Inara George and more also took part in Meet Me in L.A.: The Songs of Warren Zevon, presented by Wild Honey Foundation and the Zevon Family.

Browne, who produced Zevon’s 1976 self-titled debut album as well as his 1978 hit “Werewolves of London,” covered the Warren Zevon single “Desperados Under The Eaves” as well as the title track and “Don’t Let Us Get Sick” off 2000’s Life’ll Kill You.

Yoakam contributed Zevon’s “Carmelita” to the tribute concert, and opened his performance by reminiscing about how he previously covered the track on his own 1986 debut album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., and Zevon’s reaction to that rendition:

The Meet Me in L.A. also saw Crenshaw tackle the Zevon classic “Sentimental Hygiene,” while the recently reunited Fountains of Wayne delivered a cover of “Poor Poor Pitiful Me.”

Trending Stories

Earlier this year, it was announced that Zevon would be posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which will present him with the Musical Influence Award; it’s expected that Zevon’s longtime friend David Letterman will induct the late singer into the Rock Hall.

“I went and looked at the other people that were inducted in that: Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, and Louis Jordan. And, I mean, Billie Holiday. It’s not really a shitty club, you know what I mean?” Zevon’s son Jordan told Rolling Stone of the honor. “I think that it acknowledges that he is influential, in the same way that I think people were a little shocked that he got as many fan votes as he did. There’s this undercurrent of his influence in a lot of musicians and a lot of people’s lives.”
