Pan-India Dream | When The Cracks Began To Show | Part 2 | Glamsham.com

If the first wave of pan-India films created hysteria, the second wave has met with sobering reality. The sheen of cross-industry casting is fading, exposed by projects that could not match their own hype.

The most striking case is Yash Raj Films’ War 2. On paper, it looked unmissable — Bollywood’s Hrithik Roshan paired with Telugu megastar NTR Jr, wrapped in the sheen of the YRF Spy Universe. The film opened strong, but within a week the numbers were sliding. Despite its global release and multi-language promotions, the film ended up bleeding money. What stung more than the financial loss was the collateral damage: YRF’s ambitious spin-off centered on NTR’s character, pitched as the South’s gateway into the Spy Universe, was quietly shelved. The promise of a long-term partnership dissolved overnight.

THIS IS WAR There will be CARNAGE in theatres today. Proud of #War2 and can’t wait to see your reactions to this entertainer. Only in cinemas near you in Hindi, Telugu & Tamil.

Down south, a similar story unfolded. Rajinikanth’s Coolie was meant to be more than another superstar vehicle; it was also a platform for Aamir Khan to step into Tamil cinema, if only for a cameo. The plan was clear — build momentum for a larger project between Aamir and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, a fusion of Bollywood perfectionism with Tamil storytelling bravado. But the cameo landed with a thud, failing to ignite either hype or box office fireworks. Soon after, the much-hyped Aamir–Lokesh project was shelved.

And then came the tremors from Kalki 2898 AD. The sci-fi epic was perhaps the most ambitious Indian production in years, and Deepika Padukone was its beating heart on the Bollywood front. But as the sequel geared up, news broke that Deepika had walked away. The producers issued a polite statement about “commitment,” but trade whispers told a murkier tale — a reduced role, fee disputes, and working condition demands that clashed with the production’s scale. What was intended to be a flagship pan-India saga suddenly found itself stripped of its leading lady.

These are not small hiccups; they are symptoms. Together, they suggest that the very model of pan-India filmmaking — built on inflated budgets, cross-industry star casting, and franchise planning — is facing resistance. The cracks are now visible, and the industry is watching closely.

Stay tuned for Part 3

“I Wanted To Show A Different Kind Of Female Superhero”

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Maggie Kang, creator and co-director of Netflix animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, shared her creative process and the in-depth research that went into making the film during the Netflix Creative Asia event at Busan International Film Festival today.

Kang, who was born in Seoul and moved to Toronto as a child, said that after 12 years of working in Hollywood animation, she wanted to direct something that represented Korean culture, and the country’s demonology was the first thing that came to mind.

“So the idea of demons naturally led to demon hunters, a group of really incredible women who fight demons; but the idea needed something else, so I started to think about other Korean things, and K-pop was added in,” Kang explained. “And that really changed everything. The movie instantly became larger in scale, it became a musical, and just more of a spectacle.

“You know that when you go to a Kpop concert and everybody’s singing along, there’s just this really great energy that is able to cross cultural barriers,” Kang continued. “So as a huge Kpop fan, I wanted to celebrate that feeling in the film. And I really think that Kpop became this huge selling point for the movie.”

Kang also explained how “mudang” – Korean shamans – have been using music to ward off evil for hundreds of years, so it was a natural step that the lady hunters would use music to fight off the demons. But as the movie is set in modern-day Seoul it made sense for the demon hunters to be Kpop stars – although she joked that she didn’t talk about shamanism when Sony Pictures Animation first boarded the film.

Although all these cultural touchpoints were important for her, Kang said she is most proud of making the main characters Korean women – something that she’s never seen before in feature animation: “And as if that wasn’t groundbreaking enough, I saw an opportunity with our female characters to show a different kind of female superhero that I felt like I wasn’t seeing – messy and silly and funny, women who eat a lot and are just real and have struggles and flaws.

“But through friendship and understanding and defeating their inner demons – and the actual demons – and also inspiring others in the process, they are able to come out on top and somehow more complete.”

Noting that it was these universal themes – as well as the Kpop angle – that has helped the movie travel, Kang explained that she also wanted to make it as authentic to Korea as possible. So in 2002 during the development process, she travelled with her co-director Chris Appelhans and several heads of department to multiple locations in Korea to visit historic monuments, folk villages, and the modern cityscapes of Seoul.

She also got her hands on some authentic historical Korean weapons: “There’s something about holding something and experiencing it firsthand that just helps you represent it a little better.” Naturally, the crew also consumed a large amount of Korean food and drink, all for the purposes of research, of course.

The production turned to Korean talent for the dance choreography and music. Choreographers for the dances segments included Jo Nain from Jam Republic, who choreographed Golden, and Lee Jung, who worked on Soda Pop. Veteran Kpop artists working on the music included Ian Eisendrath, Germany’s Lindgren, the team at Black Label and Jenna Andrews and Stephen Kirk – revealing how international the Kpop industry has become.

Produced by Sony Animation for Netflix, Kpop Demon Hunters has become the streamer’s most watched original title ever, while the North America theatrical release of a singalong version grossed around $18M in just one weekend. The song Golden from the soundtrack has topped the US Billboard and UK charts for several weeks.

As previously reported, Kang also said she had hopes for a sequel but couldn’t share further details. She also mentioned a short film is in the works, although it is being created within a training program, so is not led creatively by her and Appelhans.

Netflix Creator Day also included sessions with Taiwanese director Leste Chen whose drama series The Resurrected is screening in Busan’s On Screen section; as well as Korean producer Yongsu Lee (Can This Love Be Translated?); Chartchai ‘Nat’ Ketnust, CEO of Thai post-production studio White Light, which works regularly with Netflix; and Japanese intimacy coordinator Momoko Nishiyama.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Blast Show After Contestant Misses $71,000 Win

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Fans have blasted Wheel of Fortune after a contestant lost out on $71,000 in the Bonus Round. They claim the puzzle in the round did not match up with the category, making it too hard.

Teryce Walters, from Bolingbrook, Illinois, played against Dawn McMahon, from Galena, Ohio, and Nick Oswald, from Ankeny, Iowa, on Thursday, September 18. Walters, a fourth-grade teacher, solved the second Toss Up for $2,000. McMahon, a high school science teacher, solved the first.

Walters maintained the lead with $5,600 when she solved “Global Positioning System.” She landed on the $10,000 in the Crossword puzzle. The category was “Corn,” and she solved “Bread,” “Ball,” “Dogs,” and “Flakes” for $17,800.

Walters solved the Prize Puzzle — “Beautiful Day Advisory!” — and won a trip to the Dominican Republic, putting $27,560 in her bank. She added $4,000 to her total by solving two of the three Triple Toss Ups. Oswald, a choir teacher, finally got on the board when he solved the other.

Oswald walked away with $11,600 after solving the final puzzle — “Pomp and Circumstance.” “Wow!” Oswald exclaimed. McMahon went home with $1,000. The big winner of the night was Walters with $31,560.

She chose “Event” for her category and brought her husband, Horace, with her. Walters was given R,S,T,L,N, and E.” She chose “M,D,F, and A.”

Only getting one extra letter, the puzzle looked like “_ _ _ER  _ _TA_E.” “That’s it,” host Ryan Seacrest said.

The game show contestant didn’t guess it in time, saying “Cover,” “Baker,” “Exhale.” The puzzle was revealed to be “Power Outage.” She lost out on taking home an additional $40,000, which would have given her a total of $71,560.

Fans blasted the show for having “Power Outage” in the “Events” category. “Great player, but no way to get that bonus round puzzle. I would say a power outage is more of a ‘thing’ than an ‘event’,” a YouTube user wrote.

“How is a power outage an ‘event’? That’s more of a thing than an event,” another said.

“A power outage is not an event,” a third said.

“The puzzle looked difficult to solve,” one last fan said.

Jon Stewart Reacts to Jimmy Kimmel Suspension on ‘The Daily Show’ (VIDEO)

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Jon Stewart headlined a special episode of The Daily Show on Thursday (September 18) night and, as expected, the 25-time Emmy winner reacted to the news that ABC suspended fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the midst of pressure from the Federal Communications Commission chair. Only, instead of addressing the issue head-on with a directly scathing monologue or thoughtful speech on censorship, Stewart took his uniquely satirical approach to the matter.

In the opening act of the episode (embedded above), Stewart spent 23 straight minutes cosplaying as a North Korea-style media sycophant of Donald Trump, shivering with unbridled enthusiasm for the president and finding kind words to say about every possible situation involving Trump.

Dubbing himself a “patriotically obedient host,” Stewart reacted to all of the highlights of Trump’s overseas visit to the United Kingdom — especially the most awkward moments of his state dinner with Great Britain’s royal family — with utter adulation.

“Father has been gracing England with his legendary warmth and radiance. Gaze upon him with a gait even more majestic than that of the royal horses that pranced before him, he wowed the English with charm, intelligence, and an undeniable sexual charisma that filled their air like a pheromone-packed London fog,” Stewart joked of Trump’s appearance. “And as part of this historic trip, the perfectly-tinted Trump dazzled his hosts at dinner with a demonstration of his unmatched oratory skill.”

Stewart continued the schtick of lavishing praise upon Trump for the next few minutes, pretending to be sheepishly afraid that he, too, might face the wrath of the administration’s FCC chair, before touching on the Kimmel situation directly… er, indirectly, as the case may be.

“Now the visit to England couldn’t have gone better for our president. Finally, a country affording our great leader the respect and deference that any sun god would command,” he said, before introducing a clip of a British journalist asking, “We saw the dismissal of a very well-known chat show host in America last night, Mr. Kimmel. Is free speech more under attack in Britain or America?” To that, Stewart responded with feigned outrage, “How dare you, sir?! How dare you, sir?! What outfit are you with, sir, the Antifa Herald Tribune? Why I wouldn’t even line my parrot’s cage with your rag. There’s a very reasonable explanation for what befell this scallywag, Kimmel.”

Stewart then played a clip of Trump reacting to the news himself to say, “Well, Jimmy Kimmel was fired because he had bad ratings more than anything else, and he said a horrible thing about a great gentleman known as Charlie Kirk. And Jimmy Kimmel is not a talented person. He had very bad ratings, and they should have fired him a long time ago. So you know, you can call that free speech or not.”

After momentarily dropping the guise and yelling at Trump’s still image to “shut the f**k up,” Stewart resumed his subservient character performance to say, “You may call it free speech in jolly old England, but in America, we have little something called the First Amendment. And let me tell you how it works. It’s a completely scientific instrument that is kept on the president’s desk, and it tells the president when a performer’s TQ talent portion, measured mostly by niceness to the president, goes below a certain level, at which point the FCC must be notified to threaten the acquisition prospects for billion-dollar mergers of network affiliates. These affiliates are then asked to give ultimatums to the even larger mega corporation that controls the flow of state-approved content, or the FCC can just threaten those licenses directly. It’s basic science.”

Watch the above-embedded clip for Jon Stewart’s full opening segment on Thursday’s The Daily Show edition.

Late night television is going through major changes in 2025. CBS confirmed that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end next year, just weeks after Stephen Colbert picked up another Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series. Over at ABC, Jimmy Kimmel also added to his résumé with a Creative Arts Emmy win for Outstanding Host for a Game Show thanks to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. But his celebration was short-lived — ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been suspended indefinitely following backlash over Kimmel’s recent on-air remarks about the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing.

As viewers come to terms with Colbert’s looming exit and Kimmel’s show being pulled from the schedule, questions are swirling about the future of late night and what might come next.

Below, Hollywood Life has a breakdown of why The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is ending.

Was The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Canceled?

Yes, CBS is canceling The Late Show franchise after more than three decades on the air. Stephen took over the show in 2015, and it was originally hosted by David Letterman.

When Is The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Ending?

The Late Show will end in May 2026, CBS executives announced on July 17, 2025.

Why Is The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Ending?

CBS decided to gut The Late Show with Stephen Colbert due to financial reasons, network executives explained in a statement released on July 17, 2025, obtained by Variety.

“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise in May of 2026,” CBS executives said. “We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.”

The executives added, “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

The merger between Paramount Global — the parent company of CBS —  and Skydance Media is expected to close this year.

Paramount has doubled down on its claim that canceling Stephen’s show was financial. Despite facing criticism from Stephen himself, the network has maintained its answer, with Paramount Global TV Media Chairman George Cheeks following up about the situation.

“The challenge in late night is that the advertising marketplace is in significant secular decline,” George said in an August 2025 press conference, per TV Insider. “We are huge fans of Colbert, we love the show, unfortunately, the economics made it a challenge for us to keep going.”

Is Stephen Colbert Leaving The Late Show?

Stephen did not leave The Late Show voluntarily. Per Variety, the comedian was informed of CBS’ decision on July 16, 2025, and he informed the audience at the next episode’s taping.

What Is Stephen Colbert’s Late Show Salary?

Stephen is reported to have made a salary of around $15 million per year with CBS while hosting The Late Show.

Cam’ron Called Adrien Broner A ‘Junkie’ After Removing Him From Show

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Cam’ron had more to say about Adrien Broner after removing him from the It Is What It Is set for his nonstop flirting with Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson and Arabia Tillery. The 49-year-old rapper called the former boxing champion a “junkie,” among other things.

In a newly surfaced clip from Cam and Ma$e’s popular sports talk show, Broner tried to speak to the Harlem artist through the window after being booted off the show. The hosts were attempting to get the cameras rolling again, and the Dipset rapper grew frustrated.

“Say that again, I’m sorry. Start that over,” he told his cast. “Cause this ni**a outside. I’m sorry. Talking about this ni**a want to talk to me. Ni**a, you a alchy ni**a. I don’t [want] talk to you, ni**a. I just needed you for entertainment for the show. F**king junkie.” Stat Baby laughed at his rant before they eventually got the show going again. Watch below.

The 36-year-old boxer was relentless in letting Wilson and Tillery know how he felt about them. “You look so good in person,” he said to Stat Baby, adding that he was “mesmerized” by her. She, along with the cast, awkwardly laughed before trying to continue with the show, but Broner wasn’t finished.

He asked how much she weighed before saying, “I love you.” Broner then apologized, though it did not mean much because his advances only continued. “If that’s Arabia, I’m Saudi,” he said, referring to Tillery. However, it seemed like Wilson was his main pursuit as he quickly directed his attention back to her and asked if she could stop smiling; Cam had had enough at this point.

“On some G sh*t, her boyfriend here,” the “Hey Ma” rapper said. Broner apologized again, only to tell Wilson that she was amazing. “All right. Hey, we going to have to ask you to go, my ni**a,” Cam’ron added. “I’m going to pay you for your time for being here. I appreciate you. I love you, my ni**a. I asked you the first time. I don’t have no problems with you. I’m gonna pay you for your time, but you can’t violate, bro. I told you that. I told you ni**a’s boyfriends is here.” Watch below.

Kimmel Replaced by ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ Over Charlie Kirk Comments: Will Show Be Back?

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Kimmel Live! was replaced by a repeat of Celebrity Family Feud on Wednesday night (September 17) after ABC pulled the late-night show over comments Jimmy Kimmel made about the Charlie Kirk shooting.

Earlier on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Disney’s ABC announced that the late-night talk show would be on indefinite hiatus following comments Kimmel made about Kirk, the conservative activist who was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10.

The comments people appeared to take offense to were made on Monday’s (September 15) show, when Kimmel said of the alleged shooter, “The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

ABC made the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! after powerful station group Nexstar announced it would preempt the show on its 32 ABC affiliate stations. Sinclair Broadcast Group later announced it would be doing the same on its own affiliate stations.

Late Wednesday, a memo was sent to the owners of ABC’s more than 150 affiliate station partners, according to Variety. The memo stated that the network would be airing reruns of Celebrity Family Feud in the 11:35 pm slot on Wednesday and Thursday (September 18) in place of Kimmel’s show. “Formal guidance from Disney/ABC is forthcoming,” the memo also noted.

Per Variety, a source close to the situation claims that the network has not yet made a formal decision about the future of the long-running late-night program. Conversations between executives and Kimmel and his representatives were said to be ongoing throughout Wednesday.

It’s unclear whether Kimmel’s show will return on Friday (September 19) or if ABC will air other programming in its place. Sinclair announced it will be airing a special Kirk tribute show on its ABC affiliate stations on Friday and has also encouraged Kimmel to make a “direct apology” and “meaningful personal donation” to the Kirk family.

“Sinclair will not lift the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on our stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability,” the company said in a press release. “Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA.”

The company is also offering its Kirk tribute special to all other ABC stations across the country.

After the news broke on Wednesday, many viewers and fellow celebrities spoke out against ABC’s move, with some saying it went against free speech and others leveling accusations of “corruption.”

The move comes as Nexstar is pushing for the FCC to change its limits on TV station ownership, which would allow it to acquire rival station group, Tegna. The FCC is currently led by veteran Republican member Brendan Carr, who was hand-picked by President Donald Trump last year.

The Muppet Show to Return as Disney+ Special From Seth Rogen

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Seth Rogen is basically a Muppet in human form, so it makes sense he would be the one to revive The Muppet Show.

The Muppet Show will return in 2026 as a Disney+ special starring (and executive produced by) Sabrina Carpenter — next year marks the 50th anniversary of the original variety series. The hope is for the Muppet Show special to serve as a backdoor pilot for a new season of the iconic series that debuted in the ‘70s. The Muppets themselves actually date back two decades before that.

Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Alex McAtee will executive produce the special for Point Grey Pictures. David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter and Michael Steinbach executive produce for The Muppets Studio.

The special, which sees the Muppets return to their theater to produce a variety show, also hails from 20th Television and Disney Branded Television. Albertina Rizzo will write and executive produce; Alex Timbers will direct and executive produce. Matt Vogel and Eric Jacobson are also executive producers. Longtime Muppet performers Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman and Matt Vogel will perform most of the muppetry.

Created by Jim Henson in 1955, the media franchise was purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2004. The Muppets first appeared on Sesame Street in 1969, but skyrocketed in recognition through The Muppet Show, which premiered in 1976. All five seasons of The Muppet Show are currently available to stream on Disney+.

Several Muppet feature films have been made, including 1979’s The Muppet Movie, 1981’s The Great Muppet Caper and 1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan. There have also been various spinoffs and a television film titled It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (2002).

Since 2004, Disney has managed the characters through The Muppets Studio, which led to two theatrical films: The Muppets (2001) and Muppets Most Wanted, the Halloween special Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021) and most recently the television series The Muppets Mayhem (2023).
