Bad Bunny will headline the 2026 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show

Bad Bunny has been announced as the headline performer for next year’s NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show – find out more below.

The news was announced today (September 29), just about five months ahead of the sporting mega event, which is due to take place on February 8 in San Francisco, California.

The announcement was made on Bad Bunny’s official social media pages, with the Puerto Rican rapper-singer sitting atop a goal post. Check out the announcement below.

The 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show was headlined by Kendrick Lamar, who made history as the first solo rapper to headline the coveted performance slot, and also shattered records to become the most-watched Halftime Show of all time.

Further details surrounding Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show, including guest performers, have yet to be announced.

In a statement regarding Bad Bunny’s performance, Jay-Z – who serves as the NFL’s music strategist via his label Roc Nation’s partnership with the league – said: “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

Bad Bunny shared: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

The Puerto Rican rapper-singer most recently concluded his historic Puerto Rico residency on September 20. The rapper’s ‘No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí’ residency kicked off on July 11 and was scheduled to end on September 14, but was later extended for one final show on September 20. The first nine dates of the residency were reserved exclusively for Puerto Rico residents, as was the final gig.

The final gig was live-streamed to fans across the globe on Amazon Music and Twitch channels worldwide, and was also be available to replay on the platform for 24 hours. The night saw the Puerto Rican artist bring out a host of special guests to see off the residency, including RaiNao, Dei V, Ñengo Flow, Arcángel, De La Ghetto, Jowell & Randy and salsa legend Marc Anthony. The latter teamed up with Bad Bunny for a heartfelt take on ‘Preciosa’.

Acts who were considered front-runners for the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show included Taylor Swift – who recently announced her engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and has an open-invite to perform, per the NFL Commissioner – and hometown heroes Metallica, who have openly discussed their eagerness to perform.

Lola Young pulls out of All Things Go show in Washington DC after collapsing on stage in New York

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

Lola Young has pulled out of her Washington DC set at All Things Go, a day after she collapsed on stage in New York City.

The singer appeared to fall ill while performing ‘Conceited’ at the New York branch of All Things Go on Saturday (September 27), and was carried offstage by a medical team.

It came after Young spoke briefly about how she “had a tricky couple of days” earlier in the set. “Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue,” she said. “But you know what, today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool … and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade.”

Today (September 28), Young notified fans that she would not be able to fulfil her scheduled show at All Things Go in DC. “I’m sorry to confirm that I won’t be playing All Things Go in DC today,” she wrote.

“I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this. I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future. Thank you to all those who listen and care. To all the people that love to be mean online, pls give me a day off.”

Shortly after the incident on Saturday, Young gave fans an update on Instagram, writing: “Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support. Lola xxx.”

The incident came one day after Young pulled out of Audacy’s We Can Survive concert in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday (September 26). Hours before the start of the charity show, Young’s manager Nick Shymansky revealed on her Instagram that he advised her not to perform as a “protective measure to keep her safe.”

Young released her second album ‘I’m Only Fucking Myself’ earlier this month. It scored a three star review from NME, with El Hunt writing that despite feeling “a little all over the place”, Young had put many “surprising spins on pop into one record […] largely pulling it off”.

“One of the more interesting new names breaking out right now, Young proves that there’s far more to her repertoire than ‘Messy’, and though it occasionally lacks focus as an album, it also tees up plenty of excitement for whatever’s next.”

The singer told us about the background of ‘Messy’, which ranked as one of the biggest songs of 2025 so far, when she received the Rising Star Award at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards.

“I just wrote it from a really personal place and it can sometimes be re-triggering hearing that song because it was so intense,” she told us at the awards ceremony. “I’m out of that place now, out of that difficult time in my life.”

“I think it’s just a relatable song. A lot of people don’t feel like they’re enough for somebody; they don’t feel like they’ll ever win.”

Elsewhere, Young recently announced a 2025 UK tour, set to kick off in October. You can see a full list of dates here, and buy your tickets here.

Taylor Swift is once again turning heads — not just with her music, but with her dazzling accessories. The cover of her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, has created a major buzz, particularly for the singer’s breathtaking jewellery. Fans are especially mesmerized by the massive gemstone ring she flaunts in the promotional shoot.

Shot by renowned photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the album cover captures Swift in full showgirl glam. Dressed in bejewelled lingerie, feathers, and diamonds, she channels old-Hollywood glamour with a modern twist. On Wednesday, Swift released a new promotional image for Target’s exclusive The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King Edition on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer Vinyl. In it, she dons a blush pink corset embellished with gemstones, paired with netted stockings. Her headpiece — a lavish arrangement of feathers and rhinestones — adds to the theatrical flair. But the centerpiece of the look? A stunning rose gold ring.

According to Kallati, a fine jewellery brand, the 14K rose gold ring features a 35-carat sapphire and a 1-carat diamond, valued at an impressive $27,120 (approximately ₹24 lakh). It perfectly complements the opulent theme of the album.

Set to release on October 3, The Life of a Showgirl is a vibrant departure from the melancholic tones of her previous album, The Tortured Poets Department. Speaking on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, Swift shared that the album was inspired by the whirlwind experience of her Eras Tour, describing it as “glamorous, chaotic, and alive.”

The 12-track album features songs like “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” and “Ruin the Friendship.” The title track, The Life of a Showgirl, includes a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, promising a mix of theatrical storytelling and bold pop flair.

Ethan/Utica on Being First Drag Race Queen on Show

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

For RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Utica Queen, Project Runway was always in the cards.

Fans of the RuPaul-hosted reality series know the talent Utica, aka Ethan Mundt, possesses with a sewing machine. His sleeping bag gown created during season 13’s Bag Ball shook the show’s audience in 2021, and is remembered as one of the best design looks created on the set of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

It was only a matter of time before Mundt would hop over the pond, so to speak, and appear on the design competition show. “Project Runway has been on my radar for a while,” Mundt tells The Hollywood Reporter, acknowledging the landmark decision to cast a well-known personality from outside of the franchise.

“This is the first opportunity that a queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race gets to go and showcase the work, to actually showcase what a queen can do,” he adds. “Of course, I was nervous to be judged as just a queen from Drag Race. But I think that I came in and really gagged them a bit.”

Below, Mundt reflects on the first-of-its-kind reality TV crossover, which of his Project Runway looks he hopes to be remembered for, if he thought about showing up to the season 21 finale in drag and if RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars lies in Utica’s future.

***

Let’s back up to the very beginning. Did you apply to appear on Project Runway, or were you approached to potentially join the cast?

Project Runway has been on my radar for a while, but I got into this cycle of making things for Drag Race and doing commission work. I always thought that Project Runway would be so fun and an amazing journey. But I was approached by the show, and when that happened, I was like, “Oh yes, it is time.” But of course, I went through all the hurdles that a contestant will go through — the psych evals, the interviews, showing off the work and just being really present amongst the casting process. I went through the waiting game, and then they gave me the final call. So it was a little bit of both — a little bit of reaching out and a little bit of just going through all the hoops to make it happen.

When the opportunity arose to appear on Project Runway, did you worry or hesitate that you could potentially be treated differently by contestants or judges because of your history on RuPaul’s Drag Race?

We go into this process with preconceived notions of our work and our personality, but I think walking into the room and having other contestants who have been in the same boat, like Jesus and Caycee [who previously appeared on earlier seasons of Project Runway], and when we found out later in the season that Veejay was also on [Project Runway Philippines], it felt like, “Oh, this is our second shot to really make it happen.” And in a way, it kind of felt like an all-star season. This is the first opportunity that a queen from RuPaul’s Drag Race gets to go and showcase the work, and not just be a talking head anymore, but to actually showcase what a queen can do. So, of course, I was nervous to be judged as just a queen from Drag Race. But I came in, and I think I really surprised not only the audience but the contestants and the judges to really showcase something so special on that runway. I think that I came in and really gagged them a bit.

This is the first time that someone from RuPaul’s Drag Race has gone on Project Runway. Now that you are embedded in the history of these two beloved reality shows, what does that feel like?

Of course, it’s a big honor, and I’m really gagged that this opportunity has not happened yet. There is such a rich world of drag designers and drag artists that are just creating beautiful pieces and inspiring fashion. So, it’s amazing. I really hope this opportunity opens the doors for other drag designers and drag artists to continue to make and be a part of the story. I’m hoping to see some of my [drag] sisters or other designers on the show, and just really put their stamp on the world and change the fashion community [with] something a little bit more boisterous, a little bit more loud, a little bit more experimental. As our country moves into states of chaos right now, we need art to really pave the way, to bring hope. It’s a big honor to be a part of this narrative, especially right now and what’s happening in the world.

Season 21 had a fully queer top three. What does that mean for you, not only to make it to the finale of Project Runway to show your first collection, but to be surrounded by this particular group of queer designers, given the current political climate?

It’s fabulous. Showing off all this queerness is definitely what we need right now to show that we can rise through adversity and make it out on top. It’s the moment. It’s what the world needs to see that is just a big, special moment to say, “Fuck you to the powers that be,” that queer people can come out on top and create beautiful work along the way. And you know, being a queen and being queer is a political statement in itself. So I’m glad that through art, we’re already making waves.

You won the first and last challenges of the season. What does that signify to you about your growth on Project Runway?

I think I made the show into my sandwich (laughs). Start the competition out with a bang, and just have a fabulous time through it. And then to end it with such a bang, I think is every designer’s dream who wants to go on the show. It makes it reality. It’s really amazing to be able to say that I came in and gave it my all and gave them a great go, and I gave them equally as great clothes.

On Drag Race, your sleeping bag look is a standout piece you’re known for. Which look from your time on Project Runway do you hope to be remembered for?

I think I have the privilege to say that there have been a few. Of course, the cape [from the premiere], the athleisure with the red stripe, the avant-garde [Wicked challenge], my butterfly [unconventional challenge] look, right? Starting the competition off with a bang with the cape and then moving right into killing the athleisure [challenge] was just insane. To be able to say I have a few notable looks is really special.

With your finale collection, you utilized a male model. Did you ever think about potentially casting drag queens as your models?

Of course. I did ask for trans women, drag queens, men that I could put into drag. But we got a few male models, some of them could walk, some of them could not. From what I got to pick, I feel like I got a really good squad of people that have supported me throughout the competition. And unfortunately, the finale was only five days prep, so as much as I would have loved to put some of my characters in drag, [timing] did not allow to make that happen.

You showed up to one of the runways in full drag as Utica instead of Ethan. You have since revealed that production asked you to show up in drag. Did you think about coming to the finale in drag as Utica, or were you set on presenting yourself as Ethan for your final moment on Project Runway?

I did consider going to the finale drag. I had the look already, but girl, [it was] so hectic. And then also, I’ll be honest, with the crazy critiques and everything that happened for the denim [challenge when I showed up in drag], I approached them afterwards, and I was like, “I did not come on this show to have my character critiqued in this way. Critique the clothes, critique the moments of the show, but I will not gift my art of being presented in drag, which takes a lot of time — I have to get up early, it’s inherently uncomfortable.” And I never got the air that they were going to shift their point of view in that regard, so I did not gift them with being in drag again. But it was so crazy. In a way, I’m kind of glad that I did [not come in drag], because hand sewing my model into her dress at the end, I don’t know if I could have done it in drag.

Given this newfound explosion in your career as a designer, does this mean that Utica and performing in drag is potentially going to be sidelined, or are you still equally as focused on drag while also expanding your work as a designer?

I definitely want to continue both avenues. I have the bandwidth for both. Utica informs the clothes, so I think that I would love to continue both energies as I move forward. And I mean, both of them sign checks, so I would love to keep the energy going (Laughs).

Disney/Spencer Pazer

Do you think that having competed on Project Runway and moving into a different reality show with a different network could prohibit you from returning to Drag Race for an All Stars season? Are you even open to going back to All Stars in the future?

I would love to go back to All Stars. I definitely want to let Project Runway cook and take advantage of the opportunity and not under-saturate it, because it’s such an incredible moment for the drag community to be on this show. But, I would not say no to an All Stars opportunity. I think there is room for someone like me to come back with getting the blaze in and just create a fabulous moment on All Stars after all of this. There are so many queens that branch out to do different things from Drag Race, and Drag Race is one of the reasons why my career has become what it has. I would love to go back and really just create a beautiful moment when the time is right.

What reality show will you go on next? You have RuPaul’s Drag Race and Project Runway under your belt. What’s next?

I would love another making show, whatever that may be, like Next in Fashion, if they ever bring that back, or Making the Cut. Or I would love to be a model on Project Runway. To come in and have [designers] fight over my Polaroid would be so sickening, or even a judge on the show. I think that would just be fabulous to be a part of the franchise in a different way, rather than being a contestant.

Looking back at Project Runway season 21, what do you think is the number one thing you’ve learned that you will take away from this experience as a designer?

My special brand is things that are off the beaten path and a little loud. Getting the critique that my things are too draggy is fine. I’m pushing the envelope, doing things that are new, and I’m really going to take with me that I can create a special moment on the runway and include everybody’s bodies into the narrative. I think I’m trusting myself throughout this whole competition, and I’m going to continue to do that into the fashion world. I am leaving the competition without any restraints from the show. I’m gonna do nothing but grow from the experience. And for my first whack at Project Runway, I think I killed it.

Describe your Project Runway experience in one word.

Showstopper.

Meryl Streep Appears to Attend a Very Real Fashion Show as Miranda Priestly

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

No one could ever forget Meryl Streep played the uncompromising Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway in The Devil Wears Prada.

Emblem of a generation, the 2006 comedy directed by David Frankel is now getting a highly anticipated sequel, with many paparazzi images raining down on social media over the summer. While the new film is not expected to see the light of day until next spring, its stars have been having fun making a few nods to it during their public appearances.

The latest example occurred during the Dolce & Gabbana spring/summer 2026 show held during Milan Fashion Week. In Vogue’s video from the show, Streep and her costar Stanley Tucci practically re-enacted a scene fromThe Devil Wears Prada in the front row.

© 20th Century Fox / Courtesy Everett Collection

Accompanied by her on-screen sidekick, who was also a guest at the Italian fashion house’s show, Meryl Streep was dressed like a fashion icon, immediately reminding us of the film’s glamorous, if tyrannical, editor-in-chief. Her outfit had everything Miranda Priestly would wear on-screen: a nude patent trench coat—which strongly resembles the one seen during filming in New York—worn closed and belted at the waist, revealing only the bottom of black pants and sober pumps.

As for accessories, Streep’s sunglasses and a leopard-print clutch were enough to elevate the whole look—especially when accompanying a certain hairstyle. Yes, Miranda Priestly’s signature silver mane did not go unnoticed. You can see the video here.

With Tucci by her side, the front row of the Dolce & Gabbana show could easily have been mistaken for a scene from The Devil Wears Prada. But was it? Well, everything suggests that the production has, indeed, made Milan Fashion Week its new stage. Surrounded by her colleague—whose three-piece gray suit and leopard scarf were apparently approved by Nigel himself—and fellow cast member Simone Ashley, Meryl Streep seems to have truly fallen back into character.

Laufey’s Opening Night Show at LA’s Crypto.com Arena: Best Moments

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

Laufey opened a two-night stand at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles on Friday (Sept. 26) with a show that captured her unique place in pop — her music is rooted in jazz, but her concert has pop-superstar production values.

The A Matter of Time Tour, the Icelandic singer-songwriter’s third tour and her first that consists entirely of arena dates, began on Sept. 15 in Orlando. It will conclude in Kópavogur, Iceland, on March 15, 2026.

Laufey (it’s pronounced LAY-vay, for those still catching up to her) won a Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album in 2024 for her sophomore album, Bewitched, and she could be headed for another win in that category on Feb. 1 for her third album, A Matter of Time. The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4. It has topped Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart for the past four weeks. (Bewitched logged 102 weeks at No. 1 on that chart.)

For all she has achieved, you have the sense that, Laufey, just 26, is still climbing. She has some big looks upcoming. She may well land a performance slot on the Grammy telecast – it would be her first star turn on Music’s Biggest Night. (She performed “From the Start,” a song from Bewitched, on the 2024 Premiere Ceremony, which is streaming-only, and backed Billy Joel during his show-closing performance on that year’s telecast. Also, she is set to play the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival on Apr 19. She has said she would like to record a James Bond theme song, which seems inevitable, which could bring in a performance on the Oscar telecast.  Are we getting ahead of ourselves? Perhaps, but it’s pretty clear to see the career path she’s on.

Laufey didn’t get where she is by thinking small. In 2023, she told RUSSH that Taylor Swift is her favorite current artist. The reason she gave for that choice spoke to her ambitions: “She has done for pop and country what I hope to do for jazz. She has managed to unite people across the world which is one of my main goals as a musician.”

Laufey’s choice of opening act for her tour’s North American leg — English pop/rock artist Suki Waterhouse — also spoke to her pop ambitions.

In 2022, when Laufey first headlined in L.A., she played the legendary but comparatively tiny Troubadour. Her growth since then can be seen in her bookings: In November 2023, she played two nights at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel. On her return in August 2024, she played the Hollywood Bowl. This time, it was a sold-out, two-night stand at Crypto.

Here are the six best moments from Laufey’s opening night show at Crypto.com Arena.

The show opened like a vintage film, with the words “Laufey Presents ‘A Matter of Time’” projected onto the screen. It began and ended with scrolling credits on side screens, listing all the musicians, backup dancers and other contributors to the performance.

“Cuckoo Ballet (Interlude),” a gorgeous instrumental track from A Matter of Time, was highly cinematic, and showed that Laufey might well have a future in film scoring.

The concert was divided into acts, with the most satisfying being Act II, which was introduced with these words on the screen: “Ready for some jazz?” Laufey was backed by a jazz trio during this segment. “Welcome to my jazz club,” she told the audience. “I want to put a jazz club in the middle of a big space.”

The segment kicked off with “Seems Like Old Times,” first recorded by Guy Lombardo’s orchestra in 1945 and since covered by such jazz greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Rosemary Clooney. It was the only song she didn’t write or co-write in the set.

Laufey performs a surprise song in every show, to make each show a unique experience, she said. Here, she reached back for “Magnolia,” from her 2021 EP, Typical of Me. She said she had recently discovered that the song works better as a duet and brought out a special guest, Hozier, to help her sing it. After they concluded the number, she fangirled: “I’m kind of freaking out because I’m such a big fan.”

Over the course of the show, Laufey played piano, guitar and cello. Her voice, with a deeper timbre reminiscent of one of her favorite singers, Ella Fitzgerald, was also impressive.

She also showed a deep knowledge of music history. “Dreamer” had the close-harmony sound of a 1940s song, “Silver Lining” suggested the influence of 1950s-shaded doo-wop. A couple of songs, “Castle in Hollywood” and “Tough Luck” showed the influence of Taylor Swift on her songwriting. “Sabotage,” the final number in the set (before the encore) evoked the aggressive pop-rock of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire.”

Laufey made note of the tonal “ups and downs” in her set, with its mix of happy and sad songs. “That’s what it feels like to be a woman,” she explained. “You go through every emotion in a 24-hour cycle.” Far be it from me to correct Laufey, but that’s what it feels like to be a human.

One of her most emotional songs is “Promise” (from Bewitched), which includes what she has called her favorite lyrics that she has written. “It hurts to be something, it’s worse to be nothing with you.” She performed the song by herself at the piano.

Laufey said that since she now lives in L.A., she often comes to Crypto.com Arena to see shows. “I’ve come to a lot of concerts here this year preparing for this and I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m playing here.’”

The singer remembered the first time she played L.A. at the Troubadour. She nervously peeked out through a window to view the audience and just hoped she would be able to do it again someday. “It was the biggest show I’d played to that point,” she said. “I was so scared it would slip away.”

    She needn’t have worried.

Watch Rosé blend Lana Del Rey and Paul Simon tracks in medley on ‘The Howard Stern Show’

BLACKPINK‘s Rosé blended covers of Lana Del Rey and Paul Simon tracks while on The Howard Stern Show – check it out below.

  • READ MORE: Rosé and Bruno Mars’ ‘APT.’ is an addictively flirty and fun intro to the BLACKPINK star’s solo era

As well as her own hit single, the Bruno Mars-assisted ‘APT.’, the New Zealand artist also combined Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ with Paul Simon‘s ‘50 Ways to Leave Your Lover’ during her stop on the show.

The full footage of her appearance was shared on YouTube on Friday (September 26), with the ’50 Ways to Leave Your Norman’ medley seeing Rosé alter Del Rey’s track slightly so its lyrics were less explicit.

“You talk to the walls when the party gets bored of you/But I don’t get bored, I just see it through/Why wait for the best when I could have you?” she sang, before transitioning into Simon’s 1975 track.

“You just slip out the back, Jack/Make a new plan, Stan/You don’t need to be coy, Roy/Just get yourself free,” Rosé sings in the clip. “Hop on the bus, Gus/You don’t need to discuss much/Just drop off the key, Lee/And get yourself free.”

Earlier this month, the K-pop star and BLACKPINK member hit yet another landmark achievement, with ‘APT.’ garnering over 2billion views on YouTube, the first of her solo material to do so.

That news came shortly after she became the first-ever Korean act to win Song of the Year at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). ‘APT.’ broke numerous records and topped charts following its release in October – also becoming the fastest K-pop song to surpass one billion streams on Spotify.

The track was also named one of NME’s best 50 songs of 2024 and clinched the second spot on NME’s list of the best 25 K-pop songs of the year, with Sara Delgado saying that with “a genius interpolation of Toni Basil’s ‘Mickey’ and an infectiously funky chanted chorus, ‘APT.’ will go down in history as the perfect case study on how to launch a solo career.

“The cherry on top of a great package? The assist (vocally, but also creatively) from the ever-charismatic Bruno Mars.”

The song also scored a glowing five-star review, with NME’s Rhian Daly writing: “There’s a power and confidence in her voice that far surpasses her past performances, and the vintage pop-rock riffs and attitude – which echo with elements of Toni Basil, Blondie and Joan Jett – feel sublimely suited to her as an artist.

“Addictive, flirty and a whole lot of fun, ‘APT.’ is the perfect introduction to Rosé’s new chapter.”

Why Controversial Captain Greg Wallace Made Dramatic Return to Show

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Deadliest Catch Season 21]

It’s six weeks into the fishing season on Deadliest Catch, and a controversial figure has made a dramatic return to the show as the pressure is on to deliver. During the September 26 episode, Sig Hansen wasn’t having too much luck in the midst of a very competitive bairdi crab season. The Northwestern was among 33 boats chasing 700,000 pounds of quota. Sig noticed pots in the area belonged to Keith Colburn. Conflicted on his next move, he called on son-in-law Clark Pederson for input.

Sig wanted to take a little peek at how Keith’s pots were doing, but did it go against his moral and ethical fibers? “If you want, I’ll haul it,” Clark offered. Sig responded, “I can’t tell you what to do.” Nice mental move by Sig as he didn’t have to be the one to get his hands dirty. The pot they picked up had 60 crabs, which confirmed the waters were teeming with product. Sig ordered to set off his own gear parallel to Keith’s pots.

Keith’s brother Monte noticed The Northwestern in the vicinity. Keith called Sig, “a sneaky bastard.” The Wizard captain made the decision to go dark on the radar system. “You want a shoving match? Game on,” Keith said. He checked out Sig’s pot the same way. This evolved into a race as the two went head-to-head. That was until The Northwestern hit a snag. In a moment of generosity, Keith offered to help Sig as the vessel had a one-inch thick polyurethane line wrapped around the propeller shaft, Sig depended on Keith to connect the line from the tangle to The Wizard’s hydraulic powered hauler. The strategy worked t. “I owe you on this one,” Sig said to Keith. It then was back to business for crab.

 Rick Shelford

Elsewhere, Rick Shelford and Sophia “Bob” Nielsen were facing rough conditions aboard the Aleutian Lady. The waves came in strong with the two looking to offload, but they needed another 3,000 pounds. That meant a 55 average in their pots. Rick lost power on his controls after cables and monitors were messed up. Sophia’s strategy was to use the GPS on her phone to locate their pots. This meant all was riding on mobile navigation. The string of pots hit double-digits and was enough to make their delivery. The crew ultimately ended up with 90,081 pounds, which translated to more than $2.4 million in king crab. Rick summed it up with, “It don’t get better than that.”

In the Dutch Harbor, Steve “Harley” Davidson was awaiting a new co-captain after he faced a mutinous crew aboard the Confidence. Harley brought Greg Wallace on to lend a hand for the rest of the season in the hope he can help deliver results. Wallace garnered some controversy last season aboard the Seabrooke with how he treated his daughter, deckhand Megan, who suffered a dislocated hip. He acclimated quickly, knowing he and Harley had to hustle to make up for lost time with more than a million dollar quota over their head. Harley noticed something was wrong with his throttle and controls.

“I need eyes in the engine room right now,” Harley demanded. Greg had throttles on his end at least. The crew believed it’s the breaker. The plan was for Greg to operate controls while Harley handles steering. Their hope was their second string of pots would bring them some luck. They received encouraging results with a 57 per pot average. Greg and Harley look to be a good team.
