“Thrills don’t pay the bills, boys!” Prime Video has debuted the main official trailer for Hotel Costiera, a part comedy, part thriller crime series starring Jesse Williams set on the fanciest Mediterranean coast in Italy. Ready for release starting in September this fall streaming on Prime Video (you can also enjoy the first teaser from a few months ago). Daniel De Luca, a former Marine, returns to Italy to work as a fixer at a luxury hotel in Positano on the Amalfi Coast. Shortly thereafter, the owner’s daughter disappears and De Luca is tasked with finding her. Daniel must do everything he can to bring her home, but facing those who kidnapped the girl will be more challenging than any problem Daniel has ever faced. The series stars Jesse Williams as Daniel De Luca, Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Alejandra Onieva, & Jean-Hugues Anglade. This series yet again looks like one giant Italy tourism ad, but at least it looks fun with this group doing some hustling and punching to get things done. Worth a look – especially if you adore Italy.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Prime Video’s series Hotel Costiera, from PV’s YouTube:

Daniel De Luca (Jesse Williams) is a half Italian former U.S. marine who returns to Italy, the land of his childhood, to start a new job as a fixer in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, located right on the spectacular coastline of Positano. In addition to dealing with the hotel’s wealthy guests’ problems, Daniel is also on the trail of Alice, one of the owner’s daughters who disappeared a month earlier. Daniel must do everything he can to bring her home, but facing those who kidnapped the girl will be more challenging than any problem Daniel has ever faced. Hotel Costiera is a new streaming series created and directed by filmmakers Adam Bernstein (episodes of “Divorce”, “Better Call Saul”, “The Sinner”, “Billions”, “Silo”) & Giacomo Martelli (episodes of “Rosy Abate”, “Blanca”, “Miss Fallaci”). No finalized writers credits are available yet. It’s produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Luca Bernabei for Lux Vide, a Fremantle Group company. Executive produced by Jesse Williams and others. Amazon will debut the Hotel Costiera series streaming on Prime Video starting September 24th, 2025 later this year. Anyone into this? Looks good?

The Wire’s David Simon says he can no longer get a series made

by jummy84 August 25, 2025
written by jummy84

The Wire‘s David Simon says he can no longer get a show made, but also reveals details of new projects he would be keen to work on.

He said he “can’t get anything made” at the moment, explaining that he has been struggling to land a show at HBO.

Speaking to The Observer, the screenwriter and producer opened up about the struggle to find a home for shows and projects he would like to make.

“I’ll never write anything that’s going to be a franchise,” Simon told the publication. “I was having lunch with the boss there and I said: ‘You know, I’m not sure you guys are the home for what I do any more. You’re not going to take the David Simon Harry Potter miniseries about a bureaucratic Hogwarts that can’t function.’”

He later said that there are more shows and projects he hopes to be able to work on, including a musical using music by The Pogues. He said:  “You know, I’m 64. I had a good 25-year run. But on my shelf, there is [still] a series about the history of the CIA and American foreign policy since the second world war.

“There’s a miniseries about the first Muslim FBI agent and how he got run out of the bureau. There’s another piece [about] child protective services and the family courts. There’s a punk musical using the music of the Pogues.”

Back in 2021, Simon penned a tribute in an open essay to the show’s late actor Michael K Williams.  Simon took to Twitter to post a tribute in the New York Times after the actor was found dead in his home in Brooklyn, New York. He was 54.

“A short remembrance for a talent, a genuine collaborator and a true friend. What I hope never gets lost is the awareness that Mike genuinely wanted his work to matter; not for fame or reward, but for leaving us all better humans in its wake,” The Wire creator wrote in the post.

The essay centres around a conversation Williams had about his character Omar Little, and the HBO series itself, with the writers prior to the acclaimed show’s second season, which the actor felt was straying fundamentally from the acclaimed first season.

Also in 2021, The Wire was named the greatest TV series of the 21st century in a poll. The critically acclaimed drama ranked first in a BBC list ranking the best shows of the last 21 years, based on an aggregate poll of TV critics.

Reacting to the win, The Wire creator David Simon said: “I’m glad the show has a shelf life. We weren’t interested in whether characters were good or bad. The writers had in their heads the idea, ‘If a society is going to have a law enforcement arm, what’s the job of that institution? What are the police doing?’

“If you write a show like that, it will have a shelf life for as long as those systems are in play.”

Cast, Premiere Date, More Details on Ryan Murphy FX Series

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Ryan Murphy is about to take us back to 1980s Los Angeles. The TV producer mogul is adapting Bret Easton Ellis’ psychological horror novel The Shards, and he’s assembled quite the cast.

The Shards, which was released in 2021, is loosely inspired by the American Psycho author’s own life growing up. A TV adaptation initially started out at HBO, but those plans fell through. Now, Murphy has taken The Shards over to FX.

On July 16, key cast members were revealed. Who is playing the fictional version of Bret Easton Ellis? What about the mysterious Robert Mallory? TV Insider is breaking down all the updates about The Shards TV series.

When is The Shards coming out?

The Shards doesn’t have a premiere date yet. We first heard about the show’s move to FX back in May. Given the casting news, production will likely get underway this year. The earliest The Shards would premiere is 2026.

Who has been cast in The Shards?

Igby Rigney has been cast as a young Bret Easton Ellis in The Shards, per Variety. Rigney is best known for his roles in the Mike Flanagan TV universe, including Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Midnight Club.

Homer James Jigme Gere will play Robert Mallory, the new kid at the posh Buckley prep school that Bret attends. The 25-year-old is the son of Richard Gere. The Shards will mark his first major role.

In a Ryan Murphy-style twist, the young Gere will star alongside Kaia Gerber in The Shards. Gerber is attached to star in the series, but the character she’s playing remains unclear. Gerber’s mom, Cindy Crawford, was married to Richard Gere from 1991 to 1995.

Hayes Warner has also been cast in the adaptation as a series regular. The singer will play popular girl Debbie Shaffer, another student at the exclusive prep school. Deadline first reported the news on August 22.

Graham Campbell will play Bret’s best friend, Thom. The series will be his first TV role.

What is The Shards about?

The Shards takes place primarily in 1981, Bret’s senior year of high school. An older Bret recalls what happened that fateful year when he met Robert Mallory and the “Trawler” terrorized Los Angeles. Bret becomes obsessed with the serial killer who is seemingly targeting young women in the Los Angeles area. As Robert Mallory is welcomed into Bret’s friend group, Bret becomes convinced this enigmatic young man is hiding secrets.

The Shards was initially serialized by Ellis as an audiobook through his podcast before he traditionally published in 2021.

First Look at Will Sharpe, Paul Bettany in Sky Series

First Look at Will Sharpe, Paul Bettany in Sky Series

by jummy84 August 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Will Sharpe is musical prodigy Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart in a new photos from the upcoming show Amadeus.

Sky released a first look at the limited series on Thursday with Paul Bettany starring as envious court composer Antonio Salieri and Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife.

Based on Peter Shaffer’s award-winning stage play, and adapted by Joe Barton (Black Doves, Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), the five-part reimagination explores the meteoric rise and mythic downfall of one of history’s most iconic composers — and rockstar virtuoso of the 18th century, Wolfgang ‘Amadeus’ Mozart.

When twenty-five-year-old Amadeus arrives in bustling 18th-century Vienna, no longer a child prodigy and craving creative freedom, his world collides with two pivotal figures: his fiercely loyal future wife, Constanze Weber, and devoutly religious court composer, Antonio Salieri.

Gabrielle Creevy as Constanze Weber, Mozart’s fiercely loyal wife in Sky’s ‘Amadeus’.

“As Amadeus’ brilliance continues to flourish in spite of his personal demons, a questionable reputation and scepticism from the conservative court, Salieri becomes increasingly tormented by this apparent divine gift,” a plot synopsis reads. “Amadeus is a threat to all that he holds dear in life: his talent, his reputation, even his faith in God, Salieri vows to bring him down. What begins as professional rivalry turns into a deeply personal obsession spanning 30 years, culminating in a murder confession and a desperate attempt to entwine himself with Mozart’s legacy forever.”

Rory Kinnear, Lucy Cohu, Jonathan Aris, Ényì Okoronkwo, Da Ponte, Jessica Alexander, Hugh Sachs, Paul Bazely, Rupert Vansittart, Anastasia Martin, Nancy Farino, Olivia-Mai Barrett, Viola Prettejohn and Jyuddah Jaymes also star.

Amadeus is produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios) in association with Sky Studios. Megan Spanjian is EP for Sky Studios. Michael Jackson (Patrick Melrose) and Stephen Wright (Blue Lights) are EPs for Two Cities Television. The series EP is John Griffin. Julian Farino (Giri/Haji) and Alice Seabright (Chloe, Sex Education) will serve as directors. Barton, Sharpe, Bettany and Farino also serve as EPs. Seabright also serves as co-EP.

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handle international sales of the series on behalf of Sky Studios.

Popular David Mitchell series confirmed to not return for new episodes

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Alongside Mitchell, other comedians who featured in the show included Alan Davies, Kerry Godliman, Ed Gamble, Jessica Hynes and Judi Love.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025, Hilary Rosen, director of commissioning at UKTV, explained that the series would not be returning.

“It is not currently returning, and we have announced that,” confirmed Rosen. “Would we look at that show again in the future? Maybe. Not currently. [David] loved doing it. We loved working with him.

“We definitely would be interested in other ideas with David Mitchell – we have a fantastic relationship with him.”

David Mitchell will return as John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor in Ludwig. BBC / Big Talk Studios

After calling him a “stunning” talent, Rosen was keen on “fresh new interesting ideas” with Mitchell, but noted that he was “pretty busy” and a “difficult man to get a lunch appointment with”.

Speaking about the Taskmaster comparisons to the show back in 2021, Mitchell told RadioTimes.com: “Greg Davies is a very funny man but I don’t think he was my inspiration as a judge, because I couldn’t do that.

“He’s very funny being the strong, fearless, arbitrary authority figure and that’s just not my persona. I pretty much tried to take my role as chairman on The Unbelievable Truth on Radio 4 as my starting point; a slightly befuddled, irascible and indecisive leader rather than the guillotine slice of Greg Davies on Taskmaster.”

Of course, Mitchell’s prolific career continues in earnest, with fans delighted to learn his crime series Ludwig was renewed by the BBC for a second season late last year.

Another Cryptic Short Teaser for Vince Gilligan’s ‘Pluribus’ New Series

“Hello, Carol. We’ll put things right…” Apple TV has unveiled a second 30-second teaser for the new series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan titled simply Pluribus. They’re slowly building up early buzz until a full trailer reveal and we can find out what’s really going down. This next teaser doesn’t explain or reveal anything either – and includes the viral phone number you can contact as well (202-808-3981). The sci-fi drama series is titled Pluribus – the Latin word is an adjective that means “much, many” (commonly used in the U.S. slogan “E pluribus unum“). The only one-line intro available so far to setup the concpet: The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (who was in Gilligan’s “Better Call Saul”) along with Carlos Manuel Vesga, Karolina Wydra, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. It still seems like this will turn out similar to something like Apple TV’s other sci-fi show Severance rather than their series Foundation (one of my faves) in terms of the sci-fi aspects of it. I’m ready to find out WTF this is all about and what she’s up to in here. Both teasers so far are intriguing.

Here’s the “Sorry About the Blood” teaser for Vince Gilligan’s series Pluribus, from Apple TV’s YouTube:

Pluribus First Look Teaser

You can rewatch the announcement teaser for Vince Gilligan’s Pluribus series right here for the first look.

“A new series from the creator of Breaking Bad.” The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. The series is set in a present-day Albuquerque, New Mexico that faced an abrupt change away from the world as it is known. Pluribus is a sci-fi series created and showrun by TV writer / producer Vince Gilligan, best known as the creator of “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” who worked on them until they finished; also a writer on “The X-Files”, Hancock, “Metástasis”, and “Battle Creek”. With writing by Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Vera Blasi, Jenn Carroll, Jonny Gomez, Ariel Levine. And eps directed by Vince Gilligan and Byron Howard. Made by High Bridge Productions, Bristol Circle Entertainment, & Sony Pictures Television. Executive produced by Vince Gilligan, Jeff Frost, Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Allyce Ozarski, Diane Mercer. Apple debuts Gilligan’s Pluribus 9-episode series streaming on Apple TV+ starting November 7th, 2025 this fall with new episodes every Friday into December. Intrigued to find out more?

“Let’s get lucky, shall we?” Prime Video has revealed the explosive teaser trailer for the next action-packed Season 2 the thrilling sci-fi series Fallout, based on the popular video game series of the same name. The first season of this epic post-apocalyptic series debuted in April 2024 last year, with mostly positive reviews. Onward! Lucy & The Ghoul are teaming up to take on greater threats this time. The new season will pick up in the aftermath of Season One’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. What strange grotesque and dangerous and exciting apocalyptic wonders will they find there? The series stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Moisés Arias, Kyle MacLachlan, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner. Also featuring Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones. And a doggie known as CX404 (played by a Belgian Malinois named Lana5). This looks like an improvement over the first season! Even bigger and better and weirder and crazier. Fire it up.

Here’s the first look teaser trailer for Prime Video’s sci-fi series Fallout – Season 2, from PV’s YouTube:

Fallout Season 2 Teaser

Fallout Season 2 Poster

The new season will pick up in the aftermath of Season One’s epic finale and take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. Based on one of the greatest video game series of all time, Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, highly violent universe waiting for them. Fallout is a series created & written & showrun by TV creators / writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet & Graham Wagner. With eps from Season 2 directed by Frederick E.O. Toye, also of “Lost in Space”, “The Terminal List”, “See”, “Shogun”, “The Boys”. Produced by Kilter Films. Based on the video game series created by Bethesda Softworks; the very first Fallout game launched back in 1997. It’s executive produced by James Altman, Todd Howard, Lisa Joy, Jonathan Nolan, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Graham Wagner, Athena Wickham. Amazon drops Fallout Season 2 streaming on Prime Video worldwide starting on December 17th, 2025 later this year. Who’s in?
