“Trouble is brewing in the House of Guinness. Who will keep their head?” Netflix has revealed the official trailer for a new series titled House of Guinness, arriving for streaming in September this fall. A tale about the early days of the dark Irish beer brewery. Another new series from the creator of “Peaky Blinders” and “A Thousand Blows”. The series is about the family behind the Guinness brewing company in 19th-century Ireland and New York, and the consequences following the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben. In the aftermath of the passing of brewery mogul Sir Benjamin Guinness, the series is about the great impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children: Arthur, Edward, Anne, Ben, and other Dubliners affected by the expanding Guinness empire in the 1800s. The big ensemble cast features Louis Partridge as Edward, Anthony Boyle as Arthur, Emily Fairn as Anne, Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin Guinness, David Wilmot, James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Niamh McCormack, Seamus O’Hara, Dervla Kirwan, Michael McElhatton, Hilda Fay, and Danielle Galligan. This almost looks like it’s trying to be “Game of Thrones” but about the Guinness beer brewery and Ireland instead of dragons.

Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for Netflix’s series House of Guinness, direct from YouTube:

House of Guinness is a series created and written by British screenwriter Steven Knight, known for writing Dirty Pretty Things, Eastern Promises, Locke, The Hundred-Foot Journey, Seventh Son, Pawn Sacrifice, Allied, Serenity, Locked Down, Spencer, and Maria, as well as “Peaky Blinders”, “Taboo”, and recent “A Thousand Blows” series. With episodes directed by Tom Shankland & Mounia Akl. Produced by Howard Burch; with Cahal Bannon as series producer. Made by Kudos and Nebulastar. It’s executive produced by Karen Wilson, Elinor Day, Steven Knight, Martin Haines, Tom Shankland, and Ivana Lowell. Netflix debuts the House of Guinness series streaming on September 25th, 2025 this fall. Looking good?

Warwick Davis to reprise one of his ‘Harry Potter’ roles in HBO reboot series

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Warwick Davis has been confirmed as part of the cast for the Harry Potter television series, reprising one of the same roles he had in the films.

Davis has been revealed as the first actor from the original film franchise – based on the J.K. Rowling book series – to be taking part in the forthcoming series made for HBO.

In the show, which is expected to arrive on screens in 2027, Davis will once again be taking on the role of Professor Filius Flitwick. In the films, he also played the character Griphook – a goblin employed at the Gringotts Wizarding Bank – however, this role in the series will be played by Leigh Gill.

The news was announced as part of the Back To Hogwarts celebration today (September 1), and also saw other new members of the cast revealed for the first time.

These, as shared by Deadline, included the role of Dean Thomas, a student at Hogwarts who was part of the Gryffindor House, and those of Slytherin students Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. Thomas will be played by Elijah Oshin, and Crabbe and Goyle will be played by Finn Stephens and William Nash, respectively.

Also confirmed is Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout (played by Miriam Margolyes in the films), Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey. Binns is the ghost of a teacher who continues to teach at Hogwarts, and featured in the J.K. Rowling books but not in the film series. Pomfrey is a nurse who was played by Gemma Jones in the movies.

Earlier this year, other members of the cast were revealed, and it was reported that over 32,000 children auditioned for the three lead roles – Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

In May, it was confirmed that Dominic McLaughlin would be playing Harry, Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione, and Alastair Stout will take on the role of Ron.

Before then, it was reported that John Lithgow would play the role of Albus Dumbledore. HBO later confirmed the casting, and also announced Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Others in the cast include Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Harry’s aunt and uncle Petunia and Vernon Dursley depicted by Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby, Draco Malfoy being played by Lox Pratt, and his father, Lucius, brought to life by Johnny Flynn. Check out the full cast so far here.

Since the series was announced, an actor from the original films, Jason Isaacs, has called out “racist” critics of Paapa Essiedu’s casting as Severus Snape in the show, and Chris Columbus, who directed the first two films, has criticised the look of the series, questioning why it needs to be made.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Siblings Derek and Julianne Hough on Growing Up Together on the Hit Series (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

With hundreds of episodes of Dancing With the Stars between them, siblings Derek and Julianne Hough quick-stepped their way into America’s hearts. We caught up with the Emmy-winning choreographers — Derek is now a judge and Julianne a cohost on the show — to chat about their favorite memories and what keeps them coming back to the ballroom.

What does 20 years of Dancing With the Stars mean to you?

Julianne Hough: I don’t know where to begin. The show has been in the homes of families year after year. There’s something so beautiful about the fact that people come on [the dance floor] being vulnerable and grow right in front of our eyes. We see it through rhinestones and fringe, but it’s really this transformational journey.

Derek Hough : It’s incredible to be a part of something that has had this excitement around it for 20 years. Every single thing I’ve experienced on this show has been life-changing. I’ve learned so many different lessons. I’ve grown up on this show.

Yeah, you definitely have!

Derek: I have facial hair now! When I started it [in 2007], I didn’t. I’m a full little man now, kind of. [Laughs]

Who’s gone through that growth process with you on the show that really stands out in your memory?

Julianne: [Olympic speed skater] Apolo Ohno, my first partner, had these big trunk legs, and to watch him figure out how to move his body in a new way and the dedication that he put into it…he transformed in front of our eyes. [Para-snowboarder] Amy Purdy [in Season 18] found this feminine side to her that she said she hadn’t felt since she lost her legs.

Derek: Amy was extraordinary. Dancing with [conservationist] Bindi Irwin [on Season 21] was really special.

Adam Taylor / Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images

Now Bindi’s younger brother Robert is coming on the show for Season 34.

Derek: I’m going to be so hard on Robert! I’m just kidding. [Laughs] It is really amazing to see the full-circle moment — dancing with Bindi 10 years ago, and here Robert is.

Did you two ever think you’d be working together like this?

Derek: No. Our parents actually said, “Hey, you should dance with your sister.” And I’m like, “No, no, you’re defeating the whole purpose of why I started to dance!” I wanted to dance with girls.

Julianne: I am a girl.

Derek: Well, you know what I’m saying. But it’s actually amazing to see our careers have run on these beautiful parallel lines.

Julianne: That pathway of being a dancer and then a judge — it’s kind of crazy.

Derek: Let’s be honest, Julianne was first on Dancing With the Stars.

Julianne: Did you just give me credit?

Derek: I did! [Aside] But she only won twice.

Is there a childhood dynamic that still kicks in when you’re together?

Julianne: Clearly, there’s sibling rivalry. We’re just really playful with each other.

Derek: We’re just goofs.

Julianne: What I love is that every week we’re in different areas on set, but we get our little moments where we get to hang out in the commercial breaks. It’s cool.

Do you have a dream celebrity cast member?

Julianne: Keke Palmer would be so fun to have on, because her personality is so big and she’s so authentic. Kelly Ripa would be amazing. Chris Hemsworth should come back since he did the Australian version and placed sixth. But there’s nothing like the American version.

Derek, you’ve won the Mirrorball trophy six times! How did you celebrate?

Derek: The initial moment was just unbelievable. Weirdly enough, [as a pro] the celebration was short-lived. The next day is like, “All right, got to think about the next season.” But now, I get to look back at those moments with Bindi or Nicole Scherzinger or Jennifer Grey and celebrate.

What’s your favorite role on the show — dancer, judge, or host?

Julianne: They all come with something different. As a dancer, you’re competing, and as a judge, you want to give your expertise to help [the contestants] grow. As a host, my job is to [make sure] everyone else feels like they have the space to shine and connect with the audience.

Derek: The hardest part about being a judge is that you’ve got 15 seconds to say something, whereas as a dancer, you have several hours to work and nitpick at things. But I love being in that room. When you walk into the ballroom, it is really sacred ground. The stories that have unfolded, the triumphs, the failures, the heartbreaks. There’s so much that has happened in that room, and every time I walk in there, every season, it’s a brand-new feeling.

James Gunn Still ‘Working On’ Viola Davis-Led Amanda Waller Series

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

With multiple projects in the pipeline for the newly constructed DCU, James Gunn is assuring fans that, among them, is a long-gestating series focused on Task Force X leader Amanda Waller, originated onscreen by Oscar winner Viola Davis in 2016’s Suicide Squad.

Speaking to People in a recent interview, the Superman helmer confirmed he and DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran are still “working on” the show.

He said, “We’re working on it, so we’ll see what happens. Some things have moved faster than others. Waller’s not been the fastest. But I can’t wait to see Viola put on their Waller pants again.”

Gunn is echoing sentiments both he and Safran expressed back in February, telling Deadline then that Waller — about the amoral U.S. government espionage director who dispatches the criminal misfit Suicide Squad team on missions — remains in the works, despite the project remaining difficult to break.

“We’ve taken a couple of cracks at Waller, and we haven’t been able to land it,” Safran said at the time.

“We’re still working on it,” Gunn added, also noting the duo had to prioritize another spinoff, Peacemaker. “Waller has been tough, the strike was tough on Waller, there was a certain amount time that we needed to do Peacemaker first.”

“We were going to go with Waller before Peacemaker [Season 2], but I wrote Peacemaker quickly and we were ready to go,” Gunn concluded.

Davis played Waller in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and its sequel, 2021’s The Suicide Squad, from Gunn. News of the Waller spinoff was first announced back in 2022, revealed at the time to feature Watchmen writer Christal Henry as scribe and executive producer alongside Davis. While Peacemaker is a comedy, Waller would fall into the drama category; Davis reprised the character in Peacemaker Season 1.

A year later, it was announced Doom Patrol creator Jeremy Carver would join Henry to co-write Waller.

Aside from Waller, Max will release the forthcoming spinoff, Lanterns, aiming to debut in early 2026.

“Two identities. One icon. Zero shame.” Meet Chad! 🏈 Hulu has debuted the full official trailer for their new sports comedy series called Chad Powers, ready for streaming starting in September one month from now. We posted the first teaser for this last year during the football season – now it’s finally about to release and they’re dropping more footage. When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself (using prosthetics?!) and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers. The supremely talented Glen Powell stars as Powers – he also co-created, co-wrote, and is executive producing the series through his production co-banner Barnstorm Productions. This stars Powell as Russ Holliday / Chad Powers, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson. This actually looks like good fun. It’s a very ridiculous premise, but somehow Powell might just pull this off. Take a look below.

Karen Read Says Amazon Prime Series Was “Not Authorized” By Her

by jummy84 August 30, 2025
written by jummy84

Just two days after it was announced that Prime Video is developing a limited series based on the Karen Read trial starring Elizabeth Banks, Read spoke out about the project in her first public interview since she was acquitted.

“I have nothing to do with that; it’s not authorized by me in any way,” Read said during an interview with WRKO host Howie Carr on Thursday. Meanwhile, her attorney Alan Jackson said that it is “Karen Read’s story to tell.”

Banks will executive produce via her Brownstone Productions, as well as portray Read in the Prime Video potential series. Justin Noble will serve as the writer-showrunner, while David E. Kelley is executive producing. The logline states that the series will break down “society’s obsession with true crime, the allure of conspiracy, and the deepening crisis of trust in our institutions.”

Read was introduced to the public when she was accused of murdering boyfriend Boston police officer John O’Keefe in 2022. The autopsy revealed that he died from blunt-force trauma and hypothermia. During the trial, prosecutors claimed that Read struck him while backing up her SUV while intoxicated. Meanwhile, the defense argued that Read was framed after he was allegedly injured inside the house.

The case was first looked at during a 2024 trial, which ended in a mistrial. Read was acquitted during her second trial by a Massachusetts jury in June 2025. She was found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges, though she was found guilty of drunk driving.

During her first interview since the trial concluded, Read admitted she had experienced “little epiphanies” as she’s slowly readjusted to her normal life.

“There’s moments I have every day that have these little epiphanies of, ‘Wow, this is the first time I’ve done fill-in-the-blank in the last four years that I wasn’t living with this nightmare,’” she said. “It’s not quite as I expected. I was expecting a switch to be flipped … but it’s been more like a dimmer — the lights are coming on a little brighter each week.”

Read also took the opportunity to share a message with Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey and state investigators. “You lost. You lost big time, and you know what you did,” she said.

After her life was turned upside down, Read has started fresh by selling her Mansfield, Massachusetts, home and moved in with her parents. She also lost her position at Fidelity Investments, as well as her adjunct professor job at Bentley University.

“That job was not just a job — that was my career, and I still miss it,” she admitted. However, Read said she wasn’t sure that she could “hop back on the commuter rail and walk through South Station every day.”

Jackson shared that he and Read “damn well intend” to use the courts again to share their side of the story. Meanwhile, Read expressed interest in telling her story in a book.

Do You Wanna Partner: Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty become business partners to open their very own beer brand but things don’t go exactly as planned.

Do You Wanna Partner: The official trailer of Tamannaah Bhatia and Diana Penty’s upcoming show is out! On Friday, Prime Video India dropped the trailer, which sees the two actors play friends turned business partners trying to build a successful start-up of a beer brand. Will they succeed amid the existing competition?

Do You Wanna Partner is created by Mithun Gangopadhyay and Nishant Nayak.

About the trailer

The trailer begins with Tamannaah emphasising that for her beer is not just alcohol but an emotion, the mention of which is synonymous with the feeling of a holiday. Turns out, she wakes up late next day and misses an important call at work. Meanwhile, at Diana’s place of work, she has to ward off sexist remarks that she has been able to crack the latest deal mainly because she is pretty.

The two women decide that instead of working for others (mainly men) they would rather become their own bosses. “Let’s make our own beer!” is the idea that sets off for these two friends, as they plan to make their own brand. What follows are their collective adventures & misadventures in trying to build a successful start-up amidst the current boom, as the bunch of misfits band together and become a family.

Fan reactions

Reacting to the trailer, a fan commented, “Excited to see Tamannaah in a new series!” “Tamannaah and Diana in their girlboss era, this looks so fresh and the cast is so good,” said a second fan. A comment read, “Woah that Anupam Mittal cameo! This better be good!”

The show also stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Nakuul Mehta, Neeraj Kabi, Shweta Tiwari, Sufi Motiwala, Rannjivay Singha, and Lokesh Mittal. Created by Mithun Gangopadhyay and Nishant Nayak, the show is presented by Dharmatic Entertainment and arrives on Amazon Prime Video on September 12.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton producing ‘modern’ Wizard of Oz series for Prime Video

by jummy84 August 27, 2025

27 August 2025

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are producing a new Wizard of Oz series for Amazon Prime Video.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are producing Dorothy

The husband-and-wife duo are both attached to the new show called Dorothy, which has been created – and will be written by – 13 Going On 30 producer Gina Matthews.

Gina told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement: “I’ve been in love with The Wizard of Oz books since I was a child.

“The story reminds us of the qualities we need to get through hard times, and Dorothy is a symbol of strength who shows us that with a little kindness — and a lot of grit — we can not only achieve great things but also lift up those around us.

“I’m excited to bring that message to the world, now more than ever.”

The series will be a “contemporary, music-infused” young adult retelling of L. Frank Baum’s Wizard of Oz book, with the Yellow Brick Road being used as a metaphor for the challenges currently faced by young people.

As well as Gwen, Lucky Horseshoe’s Blake and Lee Metzger are joined as executive producers by Little Engine’s Grant Scharbo, and Patrick Moran.

Blake said: “We’re really excited about all the possibilities this show brings, and I’m so grateful that Gina shared the idea with me and Lee.

“I knew right away it was something Gwen would connect with. Her creativity and perspective are such a natural fit for this project.”

Meanwhile, his wife described the project as a “modern take on a classic”.

The Don’t Speak hitmaker added: “It’s a creative and modern take on a classic, and being part of something that blends music, emotion, and the character of Dorothy is inspiring to me.”

Patrick said: “I’m really excited to work with this creative team.

“I’m such a fan of everyone involved and couldn’t ask for a more exciting partnership as we reinvent this cherished IP.”

While Grant commented: “We’re thrilled to embark on this journey with Amazon and believe Dorothy will enchant a whole new generation of viewers.”

“We need to infiltrate further…” Apple has unveiled the first trailer for a thriller series titled The Savant, with episodes available for streaming starting in September running through November. This new series is based on the true story of an sneaky undercover investigator known as “The Savant” as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The series is reportedly inspired by a true-life story originally published in Cosmopolitan in August 2019 about this “Savant” woman and what she achieved already. Jessica Chastain produces and stars in this new series as the mysterious woman at the center of the story. It follows the Savant, a top-secret investigator who infiltrates internet hate organizations to bring down the nation’s most violent men. The Apple TV+ series also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, plus guest star Pablo Schreiber (as a bad guy?). With episodes directed by the filmmaker Matthew Heineman (Cartel Land, City of Ghosts, A Private War). This reminds me of a doc from this year called Hacking Hate also about a woman (from Sweden) who also infiltrates hate groups online and works to mess up their plans. Take a look.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Apple TV’s thriller series The Savant, direct from YouTube:

The tense, high-stakes thriller follows an undercover investigator known as “The Savant” (starring Jessica Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The series is reportedly inspired by a true-life story entitled “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” which featured in Cosmopolitan in August 2019 of a woman who has come to be known as “the Savant” who infiltrates online hate-groups in order to prevent large-scale public attacks. The Savant is a series created by Canadian writer Melissa James Gibson, known for her many stage plays and writing on the series “The Americans”, “House of Cards”, and “Anatomy of a Scandal”. With additional writing from Frank Pugliese, Jerome Hairston, Amy Herzog, and James Anthony Tyler. Andrea Stanley, the writer of the original Cosmopolitan feature, serves as a consultant. And with episodes directed by acclaimed filmmaker Matthew Heineman (of Cartel Land, City of Ghosts, A Private War, Retrograde, American Symphony). Made by Fifth Season. Executive produced by Jessica Chastain, Kelly Carmichael, Alan Poul, Melissa James Gibson, Matthew Heineman, David Levine, Garrett Kemble. Apple will debut The Savant series streaming on Apple TV+ starting September 26th, 2025 with new eps out every week. Anyone into this? Intrigued?
