AIIMS Raipur orthopaedic surgeon shares real reason for middle-aged man’s frozen shoulder: ‘Sugar levels were sky high’

What does diabetes have to do with frozen shoulder – a debilitating but normally temporary condition that is characterised by an extended period of pain and stiffness in your shoulder? In an October 14 Instagram video, Dr Dushyant Chouhan, an orthopaedic surgeon from All India Institute Of Medical Sciences, (AIIMS) Raipur, discussed the connection between frozen shoulder and diabetes. Also read | Shoulder pain: Causes and treatment

Frozen shoulder can be an early indicator of diabetes, and a simple blood sugar test can reveal underlying issues.(Shutterstock)

He shared a case study to illustrate the importance of body awareness and symptom observation in detecting major illnesses – and explained how a seemingly ordinary case of shoulder stiffness turned out to be an early warning sign for diabetes.

In the video he posted, Dr Chouhan shared that the patient initially sought treatment for severe frozen shoulder symptoms, including pain that disrupted sleep and difficulty with basic tasks like combing hair. However, the doctor realised the patient also exhibited other signs, such as frequent urination, excessive thirst, blurred vision, and tingling in the extremities, which are classic symptoms of diabetes.

What were the man’s symptoms?

Upon testing, Dr Chouhan revealed the patient was found to have severely elevated blood sugar levels, confirming a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus, suggesting the shoulder problem was a secondary issue. In the video he posted, Dr Chouhan said in Hindi, “I am sharing with you a very interesting and useful piece of knowledge about how you can become aware of your body and detect serious illnesses in your body. A patient had come in with shoulder pain. The pain was so severe that it would wake them up at night. They could not lift their hands up. They had difficulty combing and buttoning. All these problems were present. Seeing this, we understood that they have the problem of frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder means that the capsule of your shoulder gets jammed.”

He further said, “But along with this, the patient had other issues too. Such as frequent urination, frequent desire to drink water, slightly blurry vision, and tingling (numbness) in the hands and feet. So, all these symptoms are of diabetes. Meaning, people who have the disease of sugar (diabetes). When I got them tested for HbA1c and a sugar test, the levels were quite high. They had come to me for a shoulder ailment, but their main problem was diabetes mellitus, meaning the disease of sugar. The point is that retrospectively — by catching hold of a small symptom — we discovered a major illness. So, if you also have a shoulder problem, you can consider whether you might have diabetes.”

‘Body’s early whisper that diabetes had arrived’

Dr Chouhan added that 30 to 40 percent of frozen shoulder cases are associated with diabetes mellitus and advised people, especially those with pre-existing diabetes, to be proactive with shoulder exercises and diabetes management to prevent frozen shoulder.

“Furthermore, in 30 to 40 percent of cases of frozen shoulder, diabetes mellitus is certainly found. That means those who have diabetes mellitus may have the problem of a frozen shoulder, or those who have frozen shoulder may have the problem of diabetes. So, if you are already a sugar (diabetic) patient and taking medicine, you need to be extra careful that you do not develop frozen shoulder in your shoulder later. For this, you should do shoulder movements beforehand, take medicines, and control your diabetes (sugar) so that you can avoid a major problem in the coming time, which is frozen shoulder,” Dr Chouhan said.

He wrote in his caption: “A middle-aged patient walked into my clinic, complaining of shoulder stiffness and pain for months. He thought it was just ‘age catching up’. But something didn’t add up — the pain was out of proportion, and the shoulder had almost frozen. When I dug a little deeper and advised a simple blood sugar test, the results surprised him… and even him more than the pain — his sugar levels were sky high. That’s when it clicked: the frozen shoulder wasn’t just a shoulder problem — it was his body’s early whisper that diabetes had quietly arrived. Sometimes, our joints tell the story before the sugar does. If your shoulder suddenly becomes stiff and painful without injury — don’t ignore it. It might be your body’s way of warning you.”

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Bhairon Singh’ Anup Soni Reveals The Real Reason Why He Left Balika Vadhu

by jummy84 October 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Anup Soni, who played the role of Bhairon Singh in Balika Vadhu, became a household name after doing the show for almost 4 years. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor revealed why he decided to leave the popular TV show. Anup also mentioned how writing works in the TV industry. Scroll down to read what he said and watch the full interview.

Anup Soni On Why He Left Balika Vadhu

When asked if stretching any show impacts the viewership of the audience, Anup Soni shared, “Bilkul hoti hai na? Aur maza khatam ho jaata hai. Bhai, koi bhi writer ya koi bhi maker jab koi kahani likhta hai, to aapko lagta hai woh 2000 episodes dimaag mein rakh ke likhta hai? Woh 100–200 episodes likhega, 300 likh lega, 400 likh lega… ek saal bhar ka content to likh hi lega woh, plan kar lega. Ek track ke aage koi ek saal se zyada ka plan nahi karta. Ek saal ke baad to woh bhi yahi sochta hai — ‘Yaar, dekhte hain chalta hai ki nahi chalta’”.

He continued, “Toh Balika Vadhu mein bhi, aur Balika Vadhu jab maine chhoda tha, to maine sirf ek hi baat pe chhoda tha — ki mere kirdaar ke paas kuch karne ko hai hi nahi. Aur yeh baat maine teesre saal ke khatam hone ke baad hi bol di thi makers ko. Lekin maine chautha saal bhi kiya. Kyun? Kyunki unhone kaha, ‘Sir, thoda aur wait karte hain, haan karenge sir aapke character ke liye.’ Chautha saal nikal gaya. Maine kaha, ‘Dekho bhai, thoda bahut hua lekin mujhe lag raha hai ki hum neeche hi ja rahe hain. Mere paas aur kuch nahi bacha karne ko.’”

The actor concluded, “Main aapse yeh nahi keh raha hoon ki main aapse demand kar raha hoon, right? Aap mujhe thank you bol do, bye-bye bol do. Kyunki aap bhi kyu change karoge apni kahani meri wajah se? Mat karo apni kahani change. Lekin aap meri plight samajh jaoge, kyunki mere paas as an actor karne ko kuch nahi bacha hai. Ab finally jaake unhone bhi kaha ki ‘haan, theek hai.’ Lekin tab bhi unhone mere kirdaar ko maara nahi, kahani mein bas bahar bhej diya.”

About Balika Vadhu

Balika Vadhu is an Indian soap opera that aired on Colors TV between 21 July 2008 to 31 July 2016 with 2,245 episodes. The story is set in rural Rajasthan and revolves around the life of a child bride from childhood to womanhood.

First Real Teaser for ‘Pluribus’ Intriguing Sci-Fi Series w/ Rhea Seehorn

by Alex Billington

Source: YouTube

“You might want to stick close to home for the next few days…” Apple TV has unveiled their first real 60-second teaser for the new series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan titled Pluribus. They already debuted a total of 4 other short cryptic teasers over the last few months, still not really revealing what is going on. This next teaser doesn’t explain or reveal much more yet. The sci-fi drama series is titled Pluribus – the Latin word is an adjective that means “much, many” (commonly used in the U.S. slogan “E pluribus unum“). The only one-line intro available so far to setup the concept: The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (who was also in “Better Call Saul”) along with Carlos Manuel Vesga, Karolina Wydra, Miriam Shor, and Samba Schutte. It still seems like this will turn out similar to something like Apple TV’s other sci-fi show Severance with some more lo-fi sci-fi aspects within this story. What is she up to in this & why is she the one that must fix everything? Huh.

Here’s the first actual teaser for Vince Gilligan’s series Pluribus, direct from Apple TV’s YouTube:

And a few more cryptic teasers revealed recently for Vince Gilligan’s series Pluribus, via YouTube:

Did Ed Gein Really Dig Up His Mother in Real Life? Fact vs. Fiction – Hollywood Life

by jummy84 October 6, 2025

Ed Gein‘s story and crimes are at the forefront of Netflix’s latest season for Monster: The Ed Gein Story. While the deceased serial killer‘s gruesome lifestyle and crimes are the focus, so is his late mother, Augusta Wilhelmine Gein. Questions surrounding the depiction of Augusta’s character (played by actress Laurie Metcalf) immediately soared among viewers, as some wondered what happened to her in real life and whether her son actually dug up her grave like his other victims.

Who Was Ed Gein?

Dubbed the “Butcher of Plainfield,” Gein is a deceased serial killer and grave robber from Plainfield, Wisconsin, who exhumed corpses and admittedly murdered two women in the 1950s. Police discovered that he had stolen corpses from their graves and turned their remains into home appliances, including bowls and a lampshade made of human bones and skin.

Gein confessed to the murders of tavern owner Mary Hogan in 1954 and hardware store owner Bernice Worden in 1957.

Gein’s gruesome lifestyle and crimes have haunted the nation from the 1950s to today. He was arrested in 1957 and was deemed legally insane in 1968. He spent the rest of his life at the Mendota Mental Health Institute until his 1984 death from respiratory failure at the age of 77.

Who Was Ed Gein’s Mother?

Gein’s mother was Augusta Wilhelmine Gein, who raised him in a strict environment. The religious woman, who died from a stroke in December 1945, influenced both her sons, Ed and Henry (who also died), to believe that all women — apart from herself — were sinful beings.

Augusta’s teachings are widely considered to be the basis of Gein’s crimes after she died.

Did Ed Gein Dig Up His Mother?

No, Gein did not exhume his mother, despite rumors that circulated over the years. He did, however, dig up and steal the corpses of multiple deceased women and kept their remains in his home as appliances and nicknacks.

How ‘The Lost Bus’ Created Fire with VFX and Real Flames In New Mexico

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

Director Paul Greengrass thrives on recreating real-life crisis, whether it’s putting audiences aboard a commercial airplane hijacked on 9/11 (“United 93”) or a container-ship overrun by Somali pirates (“Captain Phillips”). However, his journey to discover how to recreate the 2018 Camp Fire that engulfed Paradise, California for “The Lost Bus” was filled with detours.

“The truth is I went in one direction when I was prepping the movie, and then radically went the opposite way,” said Greengrass said on the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast.

“I’d [wanted] to make a movie about a wildfire that is the best that it can be done, up to now, with the technology available,” he said. “And the reason for that is the world is burning, the fires are getting worse and more [frequent], so I wanted to find a way of conveying the intensity off what those things feel like and how it might feel to be in one.”

He though he’d found the answer when he attended U2’s immersive concert at The Sphere in Las Vegas, which utilized the unique venue’s 160,000-square-foot, wraparound LED display to transport the audience to the desert.

“It’s absolutely extraordinary how realistic it is. Technology has got to the point now where you truly believe you are there. It’s eerie and uncanny, even though you know you are sitting in a seat in a theater, you feel like you are in the desert,” said Greengrass. “So I was very taken with that and thought, ‘Ok, what we’ll have to do is have a Sphere-type experience around the bus.”

This meant embracing the LED virtual stages pioneered by Star Wars series “The Mandolorian.” Greengrass and his team got to work, spending pre-production dollars on feasibility studies and tests. But for the director who cut his teeth making documentaries, he could never make the tech work for him.

“I came not to believe in it because, fundamentally, my soul as a filmmaker wasn’t really in not being in a real world,” said Greengrass of shooting on virtual stages. “So we then went in entirely the opposite direction.”

“The Lost Bus” locations team found an abandoned campus in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The enormous area supplied the production with different terrains, multiple winding tree-lined roads, and free rein to shoot with moving vehicles and to light its own controlled fires.

“It enabled us to have a bedrock of reality,” said Greengrass. “We could lay gas lines so we could have controlled flames that were safe. We weren’t burning stuff that [sent] particles into the atmosphere that could create a forest fire, and we could control all the dangers.”

The production lit fires in the foreground and around the bus that could be augmented by visual effects,. Greengrass argued these were every bit as real as the flames on set.

“People talk about CGI as in computer-generated images, but the truth is nowadays some of them are not,” said Greengrass. “In this case, we went and shot a thousand pieces of fire for different fires operating in different ways, different smoke operating in different ways.”

Visual effects supervisor Charlie Noble’s team created their own controlled burns to film in an effort to capture the wild and wide range of fire’s unpredictable behavior. The Paradise inferno’s movement, color, power could change in a split second.

“It was real image married to real image via a computer to create a seamless whole,” said Greengrass. “It was the most painstaking piece of work I’ve seen. We’d try some pieces, then say, ‘That’s not right,’ and [Noble would] have to go and shoot other bits.”

Perhaps the most painstaking adjustment Greengrass felt compelled to make came in form of light. Specifically, what happens when a fire produces so much smoke it blocks the daylight.

“You’re blocking out the sun, but you got the flames,” said Greengrass. “ It’s a very strange light. It’s both dark and light all at the same time. You can see, and yet there’s no light.”

Greengrass said the only direct comparison is the infrequent, fleeting moments of a solar eclipse, but the closest analog is the 45-minute window before sunset — aka, “magic hour.”

“That led me to think that the only way that we could successfully make this movie [excluding the beginning and end of taking place in the non-smoke-filled daylight] was that it had to be shot at magic hour,” he said. “That’s only 45 minutes at the end of the day, but that’s what we did: We actually shot the bulk of this movie in a tiny  portion of time.”

This meant a very different way of approaching the shoot day. The cast and crew would arrive late morning and spend six to seven hours rehearsing all the vehicle movements, stunts, gas burns, and actor staging (including the child actors on the school bus with Matthew McConaughey and American Ferrera). Then, rather than split the action into different camera setups or shots, Greengrass would aim to get two or three longer takes of that day’s action, which later could be cut together with additional, tighter coverage of the cast shot on a sound stage.

“That gave the film its dramatic emotional intensity in terms of performance because it was a sort of once and only once kind of experience, in the light, rather than, ’Shot four, now we go on to shot seven,’ and the orthodox way you might do it, so those are the elements,” Greengrass said.

“The Lost Bus” is now available on Apple TV+. To hear Paul Greengrass’s full interview, subscribe to the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast on Apple, Spotify, or your favorite podcast platform.

Martin Scorsese Gets Real In Documentary Series

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Apple TV+ on Wednesday released the trailer for Mr. Scorsese, its five-part documentary series from Rebecca Miller about 11-time Oscar-nominated director-writer-producer Martin Scorsese.

The docuseries is gearing up for its world premiere Saturday in the Spotlight section of Scorsese’s hometown New York Film Festival. That comes ahead of an October 17 release date on the streamer.

Mr. Scorsese features never-before-seen footage and in-depth interviews with those closest to Scorsese, with a talking-heads list that includes his frequent leading actors Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio along with Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto; his children; wife Helen Morris; and childhood friends.

Along with interviews with Scorsese, the interviewees and his own artistic output will help paint a picture of the man whose singular filmography grapples with the question of whether humans are intrinsically good or evil (“I struggle with that all the time,” he says in the trailer), beginning with 1967’s Who’s That Knocking at My Door starring Harvey Keitel and includes such wide-ranging titles as Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed (his only Oscar Best Director win so far), The Wolf of Wall Street and his last pic, 2023 Best Picture Oscar nominee Killers of the Flower Moon.

(Upcoming addition to the list: As Deadline broke earlier this month, Scorsese just locked in his next film, with DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence set to star in the ghost story thriller What Happens at Night.)

“I knew I could express myself with pictures,” Scorsese says. “But I had to find my own way.”

Executive producers of Mr. Scorsese include Miller and Damon Cardasis, Cindy Tolan, Rick Yorn, Christopher Donnelly and Julie Yorn. Ron Burkle is producer of the docuseries, which is presented by Expanded Media and Round Films in association with LBI Entertainment and Moxie Pictures.

Glen Powell Plans to Go Incognito as Chad Powers in the Real World

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Glen Powell‘s prosthetics may be the standout star of his new series Chad Powers — and he’s not quite ready to retire the look.

In the show, which Powell leads as well as co-created, he plays a disgraced former college quarterback who tries to make a comeback by joining a struggling team — while donning a fake nose and wig to hide his true identity.

At the Los Angeles premiere on Thursday — which took over the Rose Bowl for a true football-forward experience — Powell told The Hollywood Reporter that “this is probably the first couple of weeks where I’m not working, and it’s the first time I’ve kind of exposed my face to real air. I think after these last couple of weeks I will call Kevin [Kirkpatrick] and Alexei [Dmitriew], my makeup and prosthetics people, and just see if I can borrow Chad for a little bit” to wear the disguise around town.

Calling the quarterback “the most fun character I’ve ever played, by far,” it’s no surprise Powell wants to keep Chad around, as he added, “I think this show is going to blow people away.”

Glen Powell in Chad Powers

Daniel Delgado/Disney

His Chad Powers look — and accompanying high-pitched, Southern voice — was the talk of the carpet, as showrunner Michael Waldron explained that they knew “we have to make Chad ugly, Chad can’t look good, but the Glen-ness comes out and you end up falling in love with Chad almost immediately.” Steve Zahn, who plays the head coach of struggling team the Catfish (wink, wink), added that he had a “real problem” keeping a straight face across from Powell: “There’s the shower scene and I couldn’t even look at him, you see me looking at the floor.”

The Chad Powers character is based on a viral skit from 2022, where Eli Manning donned prosthetics and the name to go uncover at Penn State and try out for their team. He and brother Peyton Manning serve as executive producers on the series, as Peyton admitted they “had no idea” if the short video would actually work as a larger, scripted story.

But, the former NFL star was quick to mock his little brother, as Peyton teased that Powell’s Powers is “way better looking than Eli. I think it was just a reminder that thank goodness it’s Glen Powell in this show and not Eli Manning. Watching Eli for eight minutes in that viral video, that’s one thing, but six episodes that’s a lot of Eli — I stare at Eli every Monday night [on the Manningcast], it’s hard. That’s why I’m here, to be sure that there’s no last minute change with Eli. He has a cameo in this show, but it’s limited. I’m just glad it’s Glen, Glen looks good no matter what he’s in.”

Chad Powers premieres Tuesday on Hulu.

Meryl Streep Appears to Attend a Very Real Fashion Show as Miranda Priestly

by jummy84 September 27, 2025
written by jummy84

No one could ever forget Meryl Streep played the uncompromising Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway in The Devil Wears Prada.

Emblem of a generation, the 2006 comedy directed by David Frankel is now getting a highly anticipated sequel, with many paparazzi images raining down on social media over the summer. While the new film is not expected to see the light of day until next spring, its stars have been having fun making a few nods to it during their public appearances.

The latest example occurred during the Dolce & Gabbana spring/summer 2026 show held during Milan Fashion Week. In Vogue’s video from the show, Streep and her costar Stanley Tucci practically re-enacted a scene fromThe Devil Wears Prada in the front row.

© 20th Century Fox / Courtesy Everett Collection

Accompanied by her on-screen sidekick, who was also a guest at the Italian fashion house’s show, Meryl Streep was dressed like a fashion icon, immediately reminding us of the film’s glamorous, if tyrannical, editor-in-chief. Her outfit had everything Miranda Priestly would wear on-screen: a nude patent trench coat—which strongly resembles the one seen during filming in New York—worn closed and belted at the waist, revealing only the bottom of black pants and sober pumps.

As for accessories, Streep’s sunglasses and a leopard-print clutch were enough to elevate the whole look—especially when accompanying a certain hairstyle. Yes, Miranda Priestly’s signature silver mane did not go unnoticed. You can see the video here.

With Tucci by her side, the front row of the Dolce & Gabbana show could easily have been mistaken for a scene from The Devil Wears Prada. But was it? Well, everything suggests that the production has, indeed, made Milan Fashion Week its new stage. Surrounded by her colleague—whose three-piece gray suit and leopard scarf were apparently approved by Nigel himself—and fellow cast member Simone Ashley, Meryl Streep seems to have truly fallen back into character.

I Traveled to Thailand & Learned That Time Isn’t Real

by jummy84 September 24, 2025
written by jummy84

On the second day, once my friend finally had her suitcase of essentials, we jumped back into our itinerary, which was still patiently waiting for us. It didn’t matter which day we did what, just that we were doing it. Over breakfast at Ocean Kiss, the resort’s breezy beachfront buffet restaurant, we had fresh watermelon juice, Thai iced coffee, tropical fruit, noodles, pastries, and made-to-order omelets. Afterwards, we wandered the resort for some light cardio, passing koi ponds, checking out the tree house restaurant, Tree Tops, we’d booked for later in the week, and stumbling into a rooftop boxing gym with the most stunning island views. Back at our villa, we cooled off in our private pool, enjoying deep catch-ups and hilarious photoshoots. That evening, we also watched a traditional Thai light show on the beach. The performer, barefoot and dressed in a bright red and gold costume, danced ram Thai, a slow movement that’s hundreds of years old and was originally performed in royal courts and religious ceremonies.
