Ariana Grande – Man Who Grabbed Singer on ‘Wicked: For Good’ Carpet Is Charged With “Public Nuisance” in Singapore

Singapore officials have charged the man who jumped a barricade and grabbed Ariana Grande during the “Wicked: For Good” red carpet event on Thursday. The incident, captured in multiple viral clips, shows 26-year-old Australian citizen Johnson Wen rushing toward the star, attempting to embrace her, and putting his arm around her. Grande appears stunned as her co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly intervenes, pulling Wen away with visible anger.

Wen — who posts on Instagram as @pyjamamann — was briefly detained following the confrontation. He later shared a message online saying, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You.”

Authorities are treating the matter seriously. According to local court documents released Friday, Wen has been charged with “being a public nuisance.” If convicted, he faces up to three months in prison and a fine of as much as S$2,000 (approximately $1,540 USD). He is expected to return to court on Monday.

Wen has a history of similar disruptions. Videos on his Instagram account show him invading a Katy Perry show, a The Chainmakers concert, and several sporting events — including the 2023 FIFA World Cup Final — among many others.

The incident has sparked broad criticism, particularly given Grande’s past discussions about experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder following the May 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, which killed 22 people and injured hundreds.

The Leak Of Dharmendra’s ICU Footage And The Cost Of Public Life

by jummy84 November 14, 2025
written by jummy84

When news broke that actor Dharmendra had been hospitalised at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, the focus was on his health and recovery. What was not expected was how quickly a deeply private moment would become public entertainment. An ICU video showing the 89-year-old actor in a vulnerable state, surrounded by family, was secretly recorded and leaked. The hospital staff member responsible was arrested, yet the damage had already been done.

Read more: Dharmendra Isn’t Dead, But Journalism Might Be: The Curious Case Of Media Hoaxes

This incident brings into sharp relief the tension between celebrity and privacy. For public figures like Dharmendra, who have lived decades in the public eye, there remains no clear boundary between the persona and the person. Filmmakers and journalists have long recognised the mistake of reducing an actor to a product of their image. Still, when the cameras move into the ICU, the spectacle overrides the person.

Dharmendra’s family issued requests for privacy following his discharge, saying he’ll recover at home and asking the media and the public to stop speculation. But the leak of the video revealed the extent to which access has shifted — from the documentarians and fans outside the gates to those inside the hospital ward with a camera in their pocket. The footage swiftly became content for sharing and commenting.

Dharmendra case: What it means for public figures to have a private life

In discussing what it means to have a private life for a public figure, we must recognise that not all moments should be filtered into public consumption. The difference between a public announcement of recovery and a private stream of consciousness from a hospital bed is vast. One honours the individual’s dignity, the other reduces it. When staff films without consent, and the video spreads, the violation is complete. It’s not just about paparazzi in the driveway; it is about cameras in the room when healing is supposed to happen in rest.

For the industry, the implications are broad. Celebrities often negotiate visibility; their careers rely on performance, yes, but also on boundaries. The Deol family’s reaction showed fatigue, not for the illness itself but for the permanence of waiting lenses. For fans, the psychological contract is that you can watch, admire, applaud — but not infiltrate. When that contract is breached you feel a share of shame, even if the story is not about you.

In a time of social media where “Breaking” can mean “breach,” the demand for content often trumps burden of ethics. A single clip from Dharmendra’s bed became viewed by thousands before the family had processed it themselves. The viewer becomes voyeurs, the platform becomes runway for the personal.

What is to be done? First, institutions like hospitals and media outlets need robust policy. Recording patients without consent is an ethical and legal violation. Second, audiences must pause and question their appetite. A video might go viral, but that does not make it right. Ships of empathy can still sail. When the Deol family asked for privacy, they were asserting that public life does not mean perpetual exposure.

Third, the celebrities themselves benefit from drawing lines. Defining what is shared and what remains off-camera becomes part of the modern star’s strategy. Dharmendra’s team drew that line when the leak happened, calling for respect and rest. The clarity of their statement, “Please give us privacy”, should disrupt the cycle of “content at any cost.”

Ultimately, what this episode shows us is that fame may invite cameras, but it cannot invite all cameras. A hospital bed should not serve as a backdrop for trending clips. A family’s grief or fear should not be edited into a viral moment. Celebrities, though public figures, deserve privacy in moments of vulnerability. When we blur the line, we trade empathy for engagement, dignity for display.

For Dharmendra, a towering figure in Indian cinema, the intrusion was in the violation of trust. He did not sign up for a hospital live-stream. He signed up for movies but photography does not equal love.

Public interest does not equal public right. We must refuse to see every private moment as public property. And perhaps, after this episode, the industry and audience will remember: even legends need their quiet backstage.

Deep Cut Friday: ‘B Side Wins Again’ by Public Enemy

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Each week, SPIN digs into the catalogs of great artists and highlights songs you might not know for our Deep Cut Friday series.

Vinyl singles have historically featured the most accessible and radio-friendly song on the A side, but every now and again, DJs and music fans have flipped the record over and decided they preferred the B side, elevating classics like the Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now?” and Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” Chuck D, who played records for groundbreaking hip-hop shows on the Adelphi University radio station WBAU and on WLIR, made that dynamic the basis of the Public Enemy track “B Side Wins Again.” In the song’s central metaphor, Black America is the overlooked flipside of the country’s white mainstream culture.

Appropriately, “B Side Wins Again” made its debut on the B side of Public Enemy’s 1989 single “Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos.” As with many of Public Enemy’s songs of the era, “B Side Wins Again” is a dense collage of samples, with the Bomb Squad assembling shards of songs by the Commodores, Kool & the Gang, and the Jazz Crusaders. A year later, a slightly remixed version of “B Side Wins Again” gained greater renown on Public Enemy’s third album Fear of a Black Planet, where it appropriately follows an instrumental titled “Leave This Off Your Fuckin’ Charts.”

Public Enemy revisited the song with “B Side Wins Again (Scattershot Remix)” on the 2002 album Revolverlution. Three years later, Chuck D guested on DJ Spooky and Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo’s version of “B Side Wins Again” for their album Drums of Death. In June 2025, Public Enemy began working the song into their concert setlists for the first time in over a decade, with Chuck D rapping just the fourth verse of “B Side Wins Again” during a show in Florence, Italy.

Three more essential Public Enemy deep cuts:

“Timebomb”

By the time Public Enemy’s debut album Yo! Bum Rush the Show was released in 1987, most hip-hop songs had adopted a structure of 16-bar verses in between choruses. “Timebomb,” however, was Chuck D’s old school tour de force, with 66 consecutive bars and no hook.

“Security of the First World”

Public Enemy never scored a Top Ten single, but they influenced a lot of popular music. “Security of the First World,” a brief instrumental from 1988’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, became the basis of a No. 1 pop hit when Lenny Kravitz sampled it for Madonna’s 1990 single “Justify My Love.”

“Move!”

Bronx rapper Sister Souljah replaced Professor Griff as Public Enemy’s ‘Minister of Information’ and made her on-record debut on “Move!” from Apocalypse 91… The Enemy Strikes Black. A year later, Sister Souljah released a solo album, and her comments to the Washington Post about the L.A. riots became a flashpoint of controversy during Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Raveena Tandon Questions Public Obsession Over Her 1990s Engagement: ‘Girls Change Boyfriends Weekly, So Why This One?’

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Bollywood veteran Raveena Tandon recently stirred renewed conversation when she addressed the persistence of public fascination around her broken engagement with fellow actor Akshay Kumar—more than three decades after the event. In a candid podcast interview, Tandon briskly questioned why one disengagement continues to attract attention, especially when the very relationships that replace them are often fleeting.

“When people still search about my engagement with Akshay, I wondered, ‘Forgotten it a long time ago,’” Raveena said, referencing the headlining query she received about the 1990s split. She went on, “We made one hit film together, sure. But girls change their boyfriends every week in college, people get divorced, move on. Yet one broken engagement remains stuck to my name. Don’t know why.”

Her tone reflected a mix of bemusement and mild frustration. It’s a reminder of how old narratives linger in public memory—and how some celebrities feel trapped by them. For Raveena—now married to distributor Anil Thadani since 2004 and mother to teenage children—the past engagement feels distant, yet it keeps resurfacing, tethering her identity to a moment no longer relevant.

The engagement to Akshay stemmed from a period when the pair starred in chart-buster films like Mohra, and the cinematic pairing fed speculation of an off-screen romance. The trenchant memory of that era continues to cast a long shadow, even as both actors have charted their own courses since. But for Raveena, the attention feels unfairly fixed.

“I stopped reading anything written about it—why would I raise my blood pressure? If it’s just noise, better not read,” she remarked. The comment suggests fatigue with being asked the same question—a remarkable pressure considering she has had two marriages since and more than 25 years of post-engagement life. Yet just one headline forms the permutation the public returns to.

What makes this moment significant is how it underscores the nature of celebrity in India. The cultural expectation that past relationships remain repeatedly revisited—especially for women—is itself telling. Raveena’s pointed observation that “girls change their boyfriends every week” works as both sharp commentary and social critique. The underlying complaint: the endurance of outdated narratives—and the unequal scrutiny tied to them.

Interestingly, the episode also carries career undertones. Raveena’s resurgence in screen visibility—spurred by recent film announcements and renewed public interest—comes at a moment when her past relationship once again bubbles to the surface. For many stars, public interest in personal history enacts a dual function: distraction and brand-refresh. Whether intentionally leveraged or not, the resurfacing of past links often aligns with renewed professional footsteps. In her case, the new film Welcome to the Jungle sees her sharing screen space with Akshay once more—circling back to that earlier era.

From a broader lens, Raveena’s commentary invites a rethink of celebrity memory: why does one event remain in public loops when entire decades of life have passed? Why are some partnerships immortalised in headlines, while others fade? And crucially, why does the inquiry persist more insistently for female stars? The lingering question seems not just personal but systemic.

Her remarks also reflect an evolution in how stars engage with their narratives. While earlier generations might have ducked such topics, today’s stars—especially women with longevity in the field—are more direct about what they see as unfair. Tandon’s blunt response signals that she won’t continue to bear the coverage costs of an ancient headline just because it sells clicks.

For fans and media consumers, this moment offers a fresh prompt: when we dig out old relationship stories, what exactly are we looking for? Nostalgia, scandal, certainty? Raveena’s sharp defence suggests we should ask whether the story still holds meaning—or merely fills column inches.

Ultimately, the actress’s reflection is less about relational history and more about agency. It’s a claim, in so many words: “I moved on. You moved on. Why can’t you?” In that, she signals a shift. Celebrity isn’t just about what happens on screen—it’s also about when you’re permitted to stop answering for it.

In the end, Raveena Tandon’s voice sounds confident—not defensive. She’s not rewriting history; she’s asking us to reconsider why we re-read it. And in doing so, she reminds us that storytelling, especially celebrity storytelling, is as much about letting go as it is about looking back.

Mo’Nique Wants ‘Public Open Conversation’ With Tyler Perry & Oprah

Mo’Nique is once again asking for transparency — this time, in front of the world.

During a recent appearance on The 85 South Show, the Oscar-winning actress and comedian said she still wants a public, open conversation with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey about long-standing issues she believes affected her career.

“My knees don’t buckle. I don’t waver from what I know is right. I don’t waver from the truth,” Mo’Nique said. “So if that has to be public, I’m okay with that.”

She added that she’s still waiting for both Perry and Winfrey to agree to the conversation, saying:

“I’m still waiting for Tyler Perry, still waiting for Oprah Winfrey to say, ‘Let’s have this public open conversation. Don’t run. Don’t run.’”

According to Mo’Nique, the tension stems from her decision not to travel internationally to promote Precious — the 2009 film that Perry and Winfrey co-produced alongside director Lee Daniels. She has long claimed that the fallout from that decision led to her being blacklisted in Hollywood.

Mo’Nique also addressed the long-running narrative that she’s “hard to work with,” saying that label originated from Tyler Perry himself.

“For the people that said I’m hard to work with — they’ve not worked with me,” she explained. “But when you have a man named Tyler Perry saying, ‘She’s difficult to work with,’ and you’ve never worked with me, that cost me twelve years of my career.”

At this time, neither Tyler Perry nor Oprah Winfrey have publicly responded to Mo’Nique’s renewed call for a conversation.

Arjun Kapoor Posts Sun-Drenched Tribute To Ex Malaika Arora On Her Birthday Months After Their Public Split

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Arjun Kapoor turned heads this week when he extended a heartfelt birthday wish to his former partner, Malaika Arora, despite the two having parted ways earlier this year. On the occasion of Malaika’s 52nd birthday, Arjun took to Instagram Stories and shared a radiant photograph of Malaika in Paris—bathed in soft light, seated on a balcony with the Eiffel Tower looming softly in the distance. The message accompanying the image read simply yet poignantly: “Happy Birthday @malaikaaroraofficial. Keep soaring, keep smiling and always keep seeking…”

In response, Malaika re-shared Arjun’s post to her own Instagram Story with a single red-heart emoji and the word “Thank you,” indicating that the message was received warmly and acknowledging the sentiment.

The exchange arrives months after the two publicly confirmed their split during promotional events for Arjun’s film Singham Again. Though both individuals quietly affirmed they were no longer together, the decision to share a birthday wish underscores a notable shift in the narrative—from romantic partners to respectful former companions.

Malaika and Arjun’s relationship had spanned several years, with their pairing first becoming public in 2018. While they rarely discussed their bond openly, posts of vacations and shared moments had offered fans glimpses into their life together. Despite their breakup, the highlight of the birthday message is the tone: classy, amicable and free of drama.

In sharing the Paris photo, Arjun let the image speak almost as loud as his words. The setting—a quiet terrace overlooking one of the world’s most iconic landmarks—paired with Malaika’s serene pose, conveyed admiration without showboating. For his birthday message to include “keep soaring… keep smiling…” is a subtle yet powerful acknowledgement of her continued journey, independently defined.

Beyond the social-media moment, the backdrop adds further nuance. Arjun had publicly spoken about his relationship with Malaika, acknowledging the emotional weight of their time together—particularly noting that she had a life and a son when their relationship began. The birthday tribute now signals a level of emotional maturity in how both individuals are navigating change—moving from attachment to respect.

Among fans and observers, reactions have been largely positive. Many took note that such gestures between high-profile ex-partners are still rare in the industry. Comments on the Instagram post ranged from appreciation for the refined tone (“True friendship wins”) to nostalgia for a time when public breakups were quieter. The dynamic between Arjun and Malaika now reads less like former lovers and more like two adults who remain in each other’s orbit, albeit in a redefined way.

While the post itself was simple, the context gives it significance. In Bollywood, where personal and romantic narratives often merge with public image, Arjun’s tribute stands out for what it doesn’t say: no longing, no remorse, no cryptic message—just goodwill. At the same time, the restraint with which Malaika responded suggests she values the sentiment but maintains her boundaries.

For both stars, the moment serves as a quiet tour de force: a statement that parting ways doesn’t need to mean the end of respect. In an industry where split stories can amplify into headlines and harassment, this understated exchange flips the script.

As for what this means moving forward, it may not hint at a rekindling or a public reconciliation—but it does pave the way for a new kind of relationship narrative. One in which two people, once romantically linked, choose goodwill over rivalry, dignity over display.

Ultimately, Arjun Kapoor’s birthday message to Malaika Arora is more than just a kind gesture—it’s a closing chapter on one relationship and a quiet but confident step into the next phase.
