Thamma Box Office Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna Starrer Opens With A Bang

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-led horror comedy Thamma released in theatres yesterday and has impressed the audience. Released alongside Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat on the Laxmi Pooja holiday, the film has opened with a bang, collecting over double the earnings of the Harshvardhan Rane starrer. As per the latest box office report and the figures shared by the makers, Thamma earned Rs 25.11 crore nett at the domestic box office on Day 1. The film’s gross opening day collection – despite tough competition from films like Kantara Chapter 1, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, amounted to Rs 29.62 crores.

While Thamma hasn’t gotten the biggest opening in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, it isn’t the universe’s lowest opener either. The MHCU’s first film Stree earned Rs 6.82 crore, Bhediya collected Rs 7.48 crore, Stree 2 amassed Rs 55.400 crore and Munjya collected Rs 4.21 crore on their opening days.

Talking about becoming the new Prem of Bollywood with Sooraj Barjatya’s next, Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Abhi se tayaari shuru.”

Talking about there being a possibility of fans comparing ‘Prem’ Ayushmann Khurrana to ‘Prem’ Salman Khan, Ayushmann said, “Woh (SK) toh iconic hai. Salman bhai the superstar. Hum toh usse hi unki prem se bolenge ‘Jai Mata Di’. Itna aacha feel hota hai.” He continued, “Sooraj ji se sach mein itna aacha feel hota hai. Lagta hai ki dhanya ho gaye. Jab bhi milta hu unka pair chuta hu. It’s so beautiful to meet him and I’m so forunate that I’m playing Prem (in his film)”

Coronation Street’s Channique Sterling-Brown opens up on ITV soap exit

Fans of Coronation Street were devastated to hear that Channique Sterling-Brown would be stepping down from her role of Dee-Dee Bailey after three years.

The popular character was a fan-favourite, and Sterling-Brown also won the award for Best Newcomer at the British Soap Awards in 2023.

But the decision to leave was Sterling-Brown’s, who explained why to press including RadioTimes.com.

“I made the decision in spring, and it wasn’t a rash decision,” Sterling-Brown explained. “I took a couple of months from being offered my next year’s contract to actually even respond. I felt really torn but I just had the sense that it was time.

“I’m very led by my faith, so I really took my time over it and prayed into it, and I found a real sense that I had done what I’d come to do, I’d achieved what I was sent here to do, so it was time to be brave.”

Speaking about the future, the actress said she wants to explore her career and take on new challenges.

“I’m going in with an open mind because I’m relatively young,” Sterling-Brown said. “I would love to get on the stage again. Telly is amazing, but it’s such a different experience to being on the stage.

“I’d love to do a film, I’d love to do a drama, I’d love to do more comedy. It’s such a big industry out there. I don’t really have a wish list, but I do have private ambitions, which I’ll keep.”

As for beloved Dee-Dee, Sterling-Brown remained tight-lipped on her final storyline, only spilling that “how it ends is right for her journey”.

No air date has been confirmed for Dee-Dee’s final episode.

Kim Kardashian has officially addressed — and shut down — long-standing rumours that she once had a romantic relationship with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. Speaking on the October 15 episode of Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, the 44-year-old reality star clarified that she has never hooked up with Barker, who is now married to her sister, Kourtney Kardashian.

“I never have, and that really sucks that that has gone on,” Kim said firmly, putting the rumours to rest once and for all. When asked directly if she had ever been involved with Barker, Kim responded, “No. Absolutely not. I never have.”

She went on to explain that her connection with Barker began through mutual friendships. “He dated Paris [Hilton], and we were all friends. I’d be with Paris, and we’d go to their tour in Amsterdam. I’ve been friends with him… and never hooked up with him,” she said.

Travis Barker himself echoed similar sentiments in his 2015 memoir Can I Say, where he called Kim “hot” and “eye candy,” but stressed that “Kim and I never touched each other.”
During the podcast, Kim also reacted to being mentioned in Barker’s book. “No, I didn’t get a heads-up,” she said, but added that it didn’t bother her because it confirmed they never had a relationship. “It was nothing weird. Everyone was just friends.”
Kim also opened up about her past relationships, including her marriage to Kanye West, with whom she shares four children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. “A relationship that lasted over a decade and gave me four beautiful children is not a failure,” she said.

Bollywood actor Govinda is speaking out on his marriage and forgiveness, giving unusual personal details on his long-term relationship with wife Sunita Ahuja. On the chat show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle, the veteran actor opened up on the highs and lows of their marriage and why he has forgone his wife on several occasions in the past.

Govinda, who wedded Sunita on March 11, 1987, defined their relationship as warm and funny. Talking about their relationship, the actor of Bhagam Bhag said, “She is a child herself. My children treat my wife like a child. Sunita is like a kid, but the tasks she was entrusted with—she looked after our home only because she is what she is. She is an honest child.”. Her words are never incorrect. It’s just that she speaks what she should not.”

His endearing comments pointed out how, in spite of problems, their marriage has endured. Govinda admitted that forgiveness has been a key factor in their marriage surviving. He intimated that, like any couple, they also have had misunderstandings and errors, but he always preferred to comprehend her instead of storing up resentments.

The Sandwich star went on to ponder the various ways men and women look at life, citing the tenacity and sense of wisdom that women contribute to a relationship. “The issue with men is that they are not able to think on such lines. I always feel that a man heads the house, but women head the entire world,” he claimed, as the audience applauded.

Govinda also mentioned that it’s not always simple to view the world as a woman would, but acknowledging her contribution is vital. For him, Sunita has been the cornerstone of their house, taking care of both family and duties and yet keeping her liveliness intact.

For those who don’t know, Govinda and Sunita’s marriage has from time to time been the target of media gossip. Some years ago, rumors went round they had sought divorce after decades together. But both categorically dismissed the gossip, assuring their loyalty towards one another.

Their strong relationship is a beacon of mutual understanding, tolerance, and forgiveness principles Govinda insists are critical to any lasting relationship.

Ra.One, the sci-fi film produced by Shah Rukh Khan and starring him in the lead role, arrived with high expectations when it was released during Diwali in 2011. However, the film opened to mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. In an interview with the YouTube channel Ulta Chasma UC, director Anubhav Sinha has now opened up about the film’s reception and the impact on him at that time.

What Anubhav said

During the conversation, Anubhav said, “I meet a lot of people who now tell me they like Ra.One, but at that time, the film was declared a flop. There was a lot of pain after it flopped. I made a film with Shah Rukh Khan and it was a flop and people didn’t like it at that time. That film broke me emotionally. It took time for me to recover from that.”

‘He is a very passionate, compassionate person’

Anubhav went on to talk about collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan in the film, and added, “I was very fortunate that I was able to meet Shah Rukh Khan. I value him more than a star and an actor. Even if I don’t work with him ever, but I know him as a person and that is enough for me, you learn a lot from him. He is a very passionate, compassionate person. Despite all the stardom, he has a middle-class mind. You can learn all of these things from him. Of course, I would love to work with him, but I don’t have a story for him now and he also will not have time for me now.”

Anubhav went on to make films like Mulk, Article 15, Thappad and Bheed in the years succeeding the release of Ra.One.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh recently won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in Jawan. The actor was last seen in 2023’s Dunki, and will be seen next in King, which will also star Deepika Padukone and daughter Suhana Khan.

Trilith Institute Opens Residency Applications for Georgia Filmmakers

As today’s filmmaking production struggles to find a place to land anywhere in the United States, the Trilith Institute is encouraging emerging filmmakers already based in Georgia to make their movies and TV stories there. And with funding, a stipend, and mentorship to boot.

The nonprofit Trilith Institute announced today that applications for its 2026 Emerging Creative Residency (ECR) will open October 10. (Applications on its website are now live here.) Now entering its third year, the flagship program provides filmmakers who live in Georgia with housing in the Town at Trilith, plus $100,000 in production funding, a living stipend, focused mentorship, and access to industry resources. Selected writers and directors working in independent film will be supervised and mentored from development through production and distribution.

The Institute’s first two residents have already found success. The 2024 ECR grantee, Ebony Blanding premiered the feature film “A Mess of Memories” at the BronzeLens Film Festival in Georgia, where it won multiple awards. The 2025 recipient, Christian Noél, is currently in production on an original half-hour comedy pilot developed through the program. The series, billed as “Caddyshack” meets “Parks and Recreation,” is Trilith Institute’s first TV project.

“With our first feature film and now a television pilot, we are truly realizing the mission of Trilith Institute: to foster and retain the next generation of storytellers here in Georgia,” said Jeffrey Stepakoff, president and CEO of Trilith Institute, in a press statement shared with IndieWire. “By empowering emerging writers and directors like Ebony and Christian with meaningful resources, mentorship, and industry access, we are building a sustainable creative pipeline that keeps talent rooted in our state while contributing fresh voices to the global storytelling landscape.”

Applications for the 2026 ECR are open now through November 7, 2025, at trilithinstitute.org. The selected resident will receive a year-long immersive experience, both living and working at Trilith while developing their original project with the guidance of industry professionals.

The nonprofit Trilith Institute is focused on building up a robust entertainment landscape in Georgia, through education and workforce development. The brand also includes Trilith Studios, located in Fayette County, which has hosted Marvel productions from “Loki” on TV to multiple “Avengers” films. Most recently, out of the DCU, James Gunn’s “Superman” shot at Trilith as well, plus “Agatha All Along” and “Thunderbolts.”
