Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK release date and when pre-orders open

After months of rumours, leaks and speculation, the Apple iPhone Pro Max 17 was announced this evening at Apple’s ‘Awe-Dropping’ event in California. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook led the keynote, and we saw multiple product announcements, not just the new Apple iPhone 17 line-up.

With rumours of a vapour-chamber cooling upgrade, new Orange colourway, and a drastic design change which sees a triple camera bump placed horizontally across the top of the iPhone, we’re here to separate fact from fiction, and tell you all you need to know about the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, including, most importantly, when you can buy it.

What is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK release date?

Apple

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max was announced at today’s Apple event, alongside the Apple iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Air.

As per Apple’s usual style, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a pre-order window of one week, from Friday 12th September, until the release date on Friday 19th September.

How to pre-order the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max in the UK

Pre-orders for the new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will open this Friday 12th September, and they’ll last one week until the Friday 19th September release date.

How to pre-order the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max outright

We’re expecting multiple UK retailers to stock the brand-new Apple iPhone 17 line-up, including the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max. From the likes of Currys to Very, as soon as the pre-order window opens, we’ll list the retailers below.

How to pre-order a Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max contract

Just like with purchasing outright, we expect plenty of UK mobile networks will be offering the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max on contract. Once the pre-order window opens, we’ll include the complete list of mobile networks stocking the new iPhone below.

What is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max UK price?

So, how much more expensive is the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max in comparison to the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max?

This year, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max has an RRP of £1,199.

There was a lot of speculation about the pricing leading up to the ‘Awe-Dropping’ event, particularly because of the US tariffs.

Last year, we saw the Apple iPhone 16 have a starting price of £799 for the smallest 128GB model, followed by the iPhone 16 Plus at £899, iPhone 16 Pro at £999, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at £1,199.

Apple

Yes, the brand-new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comes in Orange! The colourways for the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max are Grey, Silver, Dark Blue, Black and yes, Orange.

As for the dimensions, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will come in at 6.9-inches with a thickness of just 8.725mm.

While Apple has moved away from Titanium to Aluminium on its line-up of iPhone 17 smartphones, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max maintains the Titanium frame. However, on the rear of the smartphone, the bottom half will be glass to maintain wireless charging.

The new Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will run on iOS 26 — Apple’s latest iOS software which was announced at its WWDC25 (Worldwide Developers Conference) event earlier this year — which means the new smartphone will have Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language. This design language will give the new smartphone a glossy and translucent look.

Perhaps the biggest design change we’ve seen, however, is the larger camera bump with a triple camera system on the rear of the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max which is placed horizontally across the smartphone.

What are the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max features?

Speaking of cameras, the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max boasts some huge camera improvements, including an 8x optical zoom, a 18MP front-facing camera, Centre Stage camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. The new smartphone will also feature simultaneous recording with both the front and rear cameras.

Apple was so confident in its camera, that the ‘Awe-Dropping’ event was filmed on an Apple iPhone Pro camera!

The iOS 26 upgrade means that the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will come equipped with features like Call Screening which vets unknown callers, a ‘hold’ feature which holds your spot on customer support lines, then alerts you when it’s your turn, real-time language translation to FaceTime and phone calls, and you can now send a poll in iMessage.

The Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max comes fitted with the A19 Pro chip to improve its performance and power efficiency. However, there is a new thermal system to prevent the iPhone from overheating.

What is the full Apple iPhone 17 line-up?

iPhone 17

Apple

At today’s ‘Awe-Dropping’ event in California, we were treated to four new smartphones: the Apple iPhone 17, Apple iPhone 17 Pro, Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Apple iPhone 17 Air.

You might’ve noticed that there is no Apple iPhone 17 Plus, this is because it’s been replaced by the Apple iPhone 17 Air. The new Apple iPhone 17 Air is brilliantly slim, coming in at just 5.5mm (in comparison, the iPhone 16 is 7.8mm in thickness), and boasts a 6.6-inch display size with an A19 chip.

The Apple iPhone 17 will set you back from £799, Apple iPhone 17 Pro costs £1,099, Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max will set you back £1,199 and the Apple iPhone 17 Air costs £999.

Donald Trump attended a match at the 2025 US Open, and critics of the Republican president claimed they heard him getting booed once his face was shown on camera at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens, New York, over the weekend. So, is it true?

The 79-year-old updated his Truth Social followers that he would attend a match at the Open. “Doing a Flyover of the Tennis Center right now. We’ll be landing shortly. Should be a great match!” he wrote prior to the men’s singles event.

Below, find out if Trump really got booed and how extensive it may have been at the US Open.

Which 2025 US Open Match Did Donald Trump Attend?

Trump attended the men’s singles final on Sunday, September 7. The match was between tennis favorites Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, with the latter winning the game.

According to multiple outlets, including the Associated Press, there was enhanced security at that match due to the president’s presence. The longer security checks caused delays, and some fans didn’t get to their seats until the match was well underway.

Secret Service released a statement acknowledging the longer security wait times, per the AP. “We sincerely thank every fan for their patience and understanding,” Secret Service said, adding that security “required a comprehensive effort” and agreed that it “may have contributed to delays for attendees.”

Did Trump Actually Get Booed at the US Open?

Yes, but other people did cheer for him as well. As heard in videos circulating on social media, a lot of people in the crowd at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center openly booed Trump.

Others, however, cheered the president upon seeing his face featured on camera.

Sports aren’t just about the action on the field — sometimes, the drama in the stands steals the spotlight. In 2025, a handful of viral fan incidents have sparked heated debates about etiquette, entitlement, and sportsmanship. From the so-called “Phillies Karen,” who pressured a dad into handing over a foul ball meant for his son, to a Polish CEO caught snatching a player’s cap at the US Open, these moments have had fans talking just as much as the games themselves.

See the most unforgettable “Karen” controversies at sporting events this year below.

Phillies vs. Marlins Foul Ball Incident

The September 5 Phillies–Marlins game turned chaotic in the stands after a home run ball landed in the glove of young fan Lincoln Feltwell, who was celebrating his birthday. His dad, Drew Feltwell, had caught the ball and gifted it to him, but the moment was interrupted when a woman, now dubbed the “Phillies Karen,” demanded the souvenir. With cameras rolling and fans watching, Drew ultimately handed it over to avoid further confrontation.

The incident exploded online, sparking debates about fan etiquette, fairness, and what parents should do in similar situations. While the woman’s identity remains unconfirmed, MLB and player Harrison Bader later stepped in to make things right, gifting Lincoln a signed bat and memorabilia to replace the lost ball.

US Open Hat Snatch

Another viral “Karen” moment happened far from the baseball diamond — at the 2025 US Open. Polish CEO Piotr Szczerek was filmed reaching over to grab a tennis player’s cap that appeared to be meant for a young boy in the stands. The shocking clip spread quickly, with many calling it poor sportsmanship and an embarrassing move for someone in his position.

— Eurosport France (@Eurosport_FR) August 29, 2025

Facing widespread backlash, Szczerek later apologized on Facebook, admitting he should have let the child have the souvenir. In his post, he wrote, “I take full responsibility for my extremely poor judgment and hurtful actions. It was never my intent to steal away a prized memento from the young fan. I became caught up in the heat of the moment and the joy of the victory, and I believed Majchrzak was handing a hat to me to give to my sons, who had previously asked for autographs. Regardless of what I believed was happening, the actions I took hurt the young boy and disappointed the fans.”

Ball Stolen at Mets Game

The New York Mets also saw fan drama unfold in 2025, when a ball was snatched from the hands of an elderly man in the crowd. Witnesses described the shocking moment as unnecessary and cruel, especially given the man’s excitement at securing the keepsake.

Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump Both Attend U.S. Open Finals

Bruce Springsteen and Donald Trump Both Attend U.S. Open Finals

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Sworn enemies Bruce Springsteen and President Donald Trump were both on hand Sunday in New York City to watch the men’s finals at the U.S. Open. The outing marked the first time the singer and president had been in the same place since their public sparring earlier this summer.

The match between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner was delayed nearly 30 minutes Sunday due to security measures that caused traffic issues because of Trump’s presence in the Rolex box, his arrival at Arthur Ashe Stadium drew boos. When the match finally did start, the venue was still less than half full because of the additional screening.

However, as the crowd started settling into their seats, TV cameras spotted Springsteen in attendance, sitting in a celeb-filled section along with Sting, Ben Stiller, and more:

Though Springsteen has been a vocal critic of Trump since he first ran for the presidency in 2015, he really seemed to draw the president’s ire when the songwriter blasted him at the inaugural date of his 2025 European tour.

While onstage, Springsteen took a moment out of his set to rail against Trump, calling the administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”

Trump, obviously, reacted in a totally calm and normal way. “Springsteen is ‘dumb as a rock,’” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, “and couldn’t see what was going on, or could he (which is even worse!)? This dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that’s just ‘standard fare.’ Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”

Still not over it, three days later, Trump took another shot at Springsteen in an even crazier post that also referenced Bono and Oprah Winfrey. “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?” he wrote. “WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment.”

Trending Stories

And perhaps, as everybody in the entire world except for Trump expected, the music community rallied behind Springsteen to show their support for him. Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Bono, Jason Isbell, and more all spoke out in solidarity with their friend in the days that followed.

In tennis lingo, I believe that would be a game, set, match.

Trump Met With Boos & Cheers At US Open As Broadcasters Mute Reaction

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Despite the United States Tennis Association’s attempt to censor the U.S. Open audience’s reaction to Donald Trump‘s presence at Sunday’s Men’s Final, the stands were filled with a passionate response.

Trump was met with a mix of both boos and cheers as he stepped out from the Rolex Suite at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to greet the crowd gathered to watch Jannik Sinner of Italy take on Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.

According to a pool report, the stadium was around 10 percent full when Trump stepped out from his suite to wave, with no PA announcement preceding his appearance. Meanwhile, the match was delayed by around 30 minutes to accommodate long lines for the beefed-up security presence.

Following a USTA memo sent to ESPN, Sky Sports and more, ABC appeared to mute the audience reaction to Trump, instead playing music over his appearance. The memo asked “all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity.”

Shortly after, Trump was met with a similar reaction from a more filled-out crowd as he stepped out for Sgt. Maj. Carla Loy’s performance of the national anthem. As his face was displayed on the jumbotron during the ‘Star Spangled Banner’, boos broke out from the crowd before cheering again for Loy’s rendition of the anthem.

Between matches, Trump appeared again on the jumbotron for around 20 seconds, during which the audience mostly erupted into more boos, with a few whistles.

Shown on ABC, ESPN Unlimited and other platforms of the sports giant, the dramatic battle between Carlos Alcaraz (who won the U.S. Open title in 2022) and Jannik Sinner (who won Wimbledon two months ago) was set to start at 11 am PT/2 pm ET.

Having won in 2024, Aryna Sabalenka remains the U.S. Open’s women’s champion. The Belarusian player defeated Amanda Anisimova in straight sets earlier today. Sabalenka was applauded and received a standing ovation for her hard fought second consecutive Ashe victory.

Crazy Horse Inspired Naomi Osaka’s US Open Beauty Looks

Crazy Horse Inspired Naomi Osaka’s US Open Beauty Looks

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Tennis star Naomi Osaka had a lot of fun at the 2025 US Open. Throughout the tournament, Osaka donned custom Nike outfits in jewel-toned shades, and when her longtime hairstylist Marty Harper saw the looks, he was inspired.

“We are always merging showmanship and functionality,” Harper says of the looks Osaka wore during the games. The two first met at a photoshoot, and have worked together for just over five years. “Naomi can come off as very stoic or reserved at first,” he reflects, “but once you get her to open up, you realize she’s simply one of the most tremendous humans ever.”

While the looks the duo created together for the French Open were “cute,” Harper shares that they wanted something a bit more serious for the U.S. tournament. It was a rose motif in the Nike looks that first got Harper’s mind flowing. Then, an inspiration from a much less likely source: a visit to the legendary Parisian cabaret show, Crazy Horse. “I was in Paris watching the Crazy Horse show, and there’s a part in it where everybody was wearing glittering hair accessories. That’s when I realized, ‘We need the roses crystallized.’”

“This look had a nod to Naomi’s Afro-Haitian roots with the curly hair texture, as well as a little bit of Harajuku as well,” hairstylist Marty Harper says.

Robert Prange/Getty Images

“This was a really pretty look for Naomi” Harper says. “I wanted the roses to be cascading through.”

“This was a really pretty look for Naomi,” Harper says. “I wanted the roses to be cascading through.”

From there, things moved quickly. Harper’s friend, fellow hairstylist Clayton Hawkins, suggested professional bedazzler Kerin Rose Gold of A-Morir Studios for the job. They started with Gold 3-D printing the roses in a handful of different sizes before the perfect bouquet emerged. And then came the Labubus. Osaka delighted fans with an entourage of punny Labubus: Billie Jean Bling, Arthur Flashe, LaBillieBu, Althea Glitterson, and Andre Swaggassi, all in collaboration with A-Morir and in keeping with the Naomi Osaka school of style and attitude.

“I wanted to create these ornate, crown-like beauty moments for Naomi,” Harper says. “All I was thinking of was ‘let Naomi come and get her roses.’ Naomi has journeyed: she’s a champion, she speaks for women, she speaks for mental health, she does it for mothers, as well as doing it for herself. She’s opened the door for a lot of young women.”

For the final look, Harper called upon braider Tiana Amani to create the stitch braid cornrows. From there, he created different ponytail hair pieces that Osaka could wear for the walk-on, but easily remove when the game actually started. Each of the ponytails had a different texture—loose and curly, long locs—and were finished off with roses affixed to chopsticks.

Drew Barrymore’s daughter ‘ripped elbow open’ in ebike accident

7 September 2025

Drew Barrymore’s daughter “ripped her whole elbow open” in an electric bike accident.

Drew Barrymore’s daughter was in an ebike accident

The 50-year-old actress was on vacation with Olive, 12, and 11-year-old Frankie – who she has with ex-husband Will Kopelman – when one of her girls suffered an agonising accident up in the mountains.

Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Drew noted she had had to cancel some plans with the host’s wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert and said: “The last time we were supposed to get together, my daughter ended up having an accident.

“My daughter, actually, she got in an e-bike accident. In France, which sounds so fabulous. Yes, so we were in fabulous France and then she had an e-bike accident.”

Drew stressed her daughter was “fine” now but explained she had “ripped her whole elbow open” while biking in the mountains.

She added: “We spent days in an E.R., in and out.”

The Charlie’s Angels actress praised her daughter for her quick-thinking following the accident.

She said: “She ripped off her bra and turned it into a tourniquet.

“That’s just who she is. And I just marvel at her.”

Drew recently noted how she has become much less “selfish” since becoming a parent and she “prefers” the person she is today.

Responding to a fan who asked how long it took to readjust back to being herself after having a baby, she wrote in a piece of UsWeekly: “I’m still not myself. And I don’t know if I will ever get back to the carefree, selfish person I was before children. I can never not know this love and concern I have for my two daughters.

“It’s consuming. I am just trying to embrace the new me. And I do prefer me now. I’m much more capable. Much more trustworthy. Much more admirable than I ever was. “

Despite this, the Never Been Kissed star added that being childfree or a parent should both be “considered perfectly fulfilling roads” in life, and that “time” is the best way to learn about oneself.

She added: “That being said, ‘motherhood’ or ‘otherhood’ should be considered perfectly fulfilling roads. And may each one of them lead us to our better selves. I think this takes time, though. Maturity has so much to do with it. Time is the great teacher.”

Broadcasters Asked to Censor Reaction to Trump’s Attendance at US Open

Donald Trump is expected to attend the men’s final of the US Open in Queens, New York, on Sunday, and the United States Tennis Association has asked broadcasters to censor any protests that may be heard over the air.

“We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity,” the USTA said in a memo sent to broadcasters including ESPN, according to The Athletic.

Trump was a regular presence at the US Open before entering politics. His most recent appearance came in 2015, when, as a presidential candidate, he was loudly booed by the crowd.

US Open Organizers Want TV To Ignore Trump Protests Sunday

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Reaction to Donald Trump‘s attendance at the U.S. Open Men’s Final on Sunday just stepped into Center Court.

A memo sent to the likes of ESPN and Sky Sports this afternoon from the United States Tennis Association asks “all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity.”

Whether censorship, a very heavy handed request for civility amidst political division, both or an unintentional shooting of their own foort, the USTA entreaty Saturday has had the immediate effect now of putting an added spotlight on Trump’s appearance at the prestigious match.

Shown on ABC, ESPN Unlimited and other platforms of the sports giant, the dramatic battle between Carlos Alcaraz (who won the U.S. Open title in 2022) and Jannik Sinner (who won Wimbledon two months ago) is set to start at 11 am PT/2 pm ET.

According to guidance from the White House, Trump will be in the stadium at that time. He is expected to be front and center on Arthur Ashe Stadium’s giant video screen during the national anthem. Unlikely to be talking tariffs by any measure, Trump is at the match as a guest of Rolex.

When contacted by Deadline, ESPN had no comment on the USTA correspondence. However, indications from insiders at the Disney outlet is that they will be concentrating their coverage on the tennis but not ignore Trump or his presence. That last part may be the wiggle room Disney, who paid then president-elect Trump over $15 million back in December to in a much derided move to settle his defamation suit against ABC News and anchor  George Stephanopoulos, occupies to turn the cameras on or off any jeers, banners or more that break out at Sunday’s match

For USTA, who have seen a constant stream of high profile attendees like Common, Walton Goggins, Hugh Jackman, Anna Wintour, Naomi Watts, the Great One Wayne Gretzky and the G.O.A.T. Billie Jean King, at this year’s U.S. Open, the attitude is this is all business as usual – just bigger. “We regularly ask our broadcasters to refrain from showcasing off-court disruptions,” USTA Managing Director, Head of Communications and Content Lisa Cradit told Deadline tonight.

Certainly, Trump showing up at other sporting events recently like July 13’s FIFA Club World Cup final at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium and February at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans resulted in a bellow of boos. In the latter case, which saw Taylor Swift booed too, there were cheers for the former Celebrity Apprentice host. The same couldn’t be said of the last time Trump showed up at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the U.S. Open in 2015 — then the boos far out blasted any positive response.

Will history repeat itself?

Well, there is some precedent of recurrence at the U.S. Open this year.

Having won in 2024, Aryna Sabalenka remains the U.S. Open’s women’s champion. The Belarusian player defeated  Amanda Anisimova in straight sets earlier today. Sabalenka was applauded and received a standing ovation for her hard fought second consecutive Ashe victory.
