Are You Up Next?—Applications for the 2026 LVMH Prize Are Now Open

by jummy84 November 17, 2025
written by jummy84

There are a myriad of ways in which young designers can stand out online in our social media age, but nothing comes close to coming face-to-face with a pantheon of fashion leaders. That is the promise of the LVMH Prize, which puts emerging talent in front of designers like Phoebe Philo, Jonathan Anderson, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and more. Today, applications for the 2026 edition of the competition are officially open.

The LVMH Prize has changed the trajectory of many designer hopefuls over the years, including Simon Porte Jacquemus, Grace Wales Bonner, and Steven Stokey-Daley. “We don’t want to just buy clothes today; we want to support people who are sending a message to the world,” said Silvia Venturini Fendi, a judge of the Prize, at last year’s final. Chiuri, who is now officially headed to Fendi and is also a juror, added, “There’s the creativity, but then the idea of what they want to build for the future, the perspective of their brand. They were all interesting, very different, but you feel that all the brands had a personal story.”

Do you have what it takes to take home one of the awards? Entries for the latest edition of the LVMH Prize are now being accepted on lvmhprize.com. Designers between 18 and 40 who have created at least two collections are welcome to apply. Submissions close on January 11, 2026.

Raj & DK Open Up About Manoj Bajpayee and Jaideep Ahlawat’s Clash in The Family Man 3

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

The Family Man is officially coming back with its third season and we will once again see Manoj Bajpayee reprise his role as the fan-favourite spy, Srikant Tiwari. However, this season will see him face more challenges as he is on the verge of getting arrested!

This return marks another milestone for its creators, Raj & DK, also known for Farzi and Citadel Honey Bunny. The new season promises to be the biggest and most challenging yet, not just professionally for Srikant but also in terms of the show’s setting.

This time, Srikant’s mission moves eastward, into unfamiliar terrain and dangerous new territory. Speaking about the meticulous planning and the long-anticipated arc, Krishna DK shared, “It’s been building up for a while, and we’ve put our hearts into it. We had already announced at the end of season two that the North-East is where we want to go with the next season. So we were clear about that. The location, the people, and the culture are all part of the DNA of the show, whichever season you pick. Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and all these places in season three, you need that energy from the place.”

The core of the excitement, however, lies in the intense rivalry that the creators have cooked up for Srikant this time around. Season 3 brings a monumental clash of talent, featuring a high-octane face-off that is already sending fan anticipation soaring.

Family Man

Sharing his enthusiasm for the clash between Manoj Bajpayee’s Srikant and Jaideep Ahlawat’s Rukma in the new season Raj Nidimoru expressed, “Manoj and Jaideep are coming together, two stalwarts of Indian cinema. Really top actors.” Jaideep Ahlawat’s antagonist, Rukma, is designed as a dark reflection of our beloved TASC agent. His character presents a threat that is deeply personal and ideologically opposite to Srikant, pushing him to his absolute limit. Raj further elaborated on this compelling character parallel, noting, “Rukma became the main character, the main antagonist, where he is almost the opposite of Srikant; he also has a girlfriend and a kid, a sort of a ‘non-family’ family.”

The Family Man 3 also stars Sharib Hashmi and Priyamani among others. The third season will start streaming globally on Prime Video from November 21.

Pete Davidson open to Saturday Night Live return

9 November 2025

Pete Davidson is open to returning to the Saturday Night Live cast.

Pete Davidson is open to returning to Saturday Night Live

The 31-year-old star – who was just 20 years old when he joined the comedy sketch show in 2024 – left the programme in 2022, though he returned as a guest host the following year, but if showrunner Lorne Michaels asked him to make a comeback, he’d willingly agree.

Asked what he would do if Lorne asked him to return to the cast, he admitted he would and told People magazine: “I’d do anything for Lorne.

“I had a great time hosting last time, and anytime you get that call, it’s an honour and a privilege.

“It’s always relevant, it’s a hot show. People look forward to it, and the cast is great.

“I owe that guy my life. He jump-started everything. So I’d do anything for Lorne, and he knows that.”

The Bupkis actor recently admitted he wasn’t universally popular on the show and some co-stars found him “annoying”.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, he shared: “You got to remember, everyone there did Second City, improv, worked so hard — so hard. I’m not saying I didn’t work hard, but I was only doing comedy for three, four years.

“And a lot of what people liked about me was, ‘Oh, this was a kid from Staten Island that’s just talking s***. So you gotta remember all of these people are 10, 15 years older than me and working so hard.”

Pete thinks that some of the his castmates’ frustrations stemmed from their relatively modest pay at Saturday Night Live.

The comedian explained: “At the time, you weren’t allowed to do stuff outside of the show that was a payday.

“It was like the Yankees — no beards. You gotta dress up to go to the afterparty and all this s***. So I think I did rub people the wrong way, and I think it was just annoying for the cast.”

Meanwhile, Pete recently revealed that Eddie Murphy inspired him to reduce his social circle.

The actor stars alongside Eddie, 64, in The Pickup, their new comedy movie, and Pete confessed to being inspired by his co-star.

Speaking to People, Pete joked: “I’ve been guilty of having 700 friends in the green room. People I just met or are just in the crew, and then I’m like, ‘Why did they not have my best interest in mind?'”

Pete observed that Eddie “moved” in a totally different way to himself, and the comedy star eventually decided to follow suit.

Pete said: “He has a really small crew, and it’s the same people for a really long time, and I think that’s really important to have an efficient career and just overall life in this business.

“You have to be able to trust who’s around you, and you got to be able to move a certain type of way.

“I’m not Eddie Murphy by any means, but especially when you’re at his level, you need to be able to trust everyone around you.”

Garin Nugroho’s ‘Opera Jawa’ to Open Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The 20th Jogja-Netpac Asian Film Festival (JAFF) will open with Garin Nugroho‘s musical “Opera Jawa” and close with Aco Tenriyagelli’s feature directorial debut “Comedy Buddy” in Yogyakarta.

This edition marks a milestone for the festival, which was first held in 2006. Carrying the theme Transfiguration, JAFF20 highlights the festival’s two-decade journey and the transformation of Indonesian and Asian cinema during that period.

The opening film, originally premiered at JAFF’s inaugural edition in 2006, will be screened in its original 35mm celluloid format at a ceremonial program at Universitas Gadjah Mada’s Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas. “Comedy Buddy” is produced by Bion Studios and Spasi Moving Image.

JAFF20 will present 227 films from 43 countries across competitive and non-competitive programs. Eleven feature films will compete in the main competition for the Golden and Silver Hanoman Awards: “A Useful Ghost” by Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke, winner of the Grand Prix at the 2025 Cannes Critics’ Week; “Amoeba” by Siyou Tan; “Becoming Human” by Polen Ly; “Flames” by Ravi Shankar Kaushik; “Girl” by Shu Qi, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival; “Hair, Paper, Water” by Nicolas Graux and Trương Minh Quý; “Lost Land” by Akio Fujimoto; “On Your Lap (Pangku)” by Reza Rahadian, winner of four awards at Busan; “Summer’s Camera” by Sung Divine; “Sunshine” by Antoinette Jadaone; and Pingyao winner “The World of Love” by Yoon Ga-eun.

The Indonesian Screen Awards will feature 13 Indonesian films competing across nine categories, with four new categories added this year: Best Production Design, Best Sound, Best Original Music and Best Poster Design.

Competing titles include “A Thousand Shades of Purnama” (Seribu Bayang Purnama) by Yahdi Jamhur; “Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku!” by Muhadkly Acho; “Better Off Dead” (Tinggal Meninggal) by Kristo Immanuel; “Dancing with the Body” (Lenggak-Lenggok) by Andi Imam Prakasa; “Dopamine” (Dopamin) by Teddy Soeriaatmadja; “Ikatan Darah” by Sidharta Tata; “Mothernet” by Ho Wi Ding; “Rangga & Cinta” by Riri Riza; “Smothered” (Legenda Kelam Malin Kundang) by Rafki Hidayat and Kevin Nugroho; Indonesia’s Oscar entry “Sore: A Wife from the Future” by Yandy Laurens; “The Period of Her” by Erlina Rakhmawati, Praditha Blifa, Sarah Adilah and Yulinda Dwi Andriyani; “The Tiger” by Ardiansah Sulistiana; and “Worn Out” (Judheg) by Misya Latief. “Ikatan Darah” and “Mothernet” will have their Indonesian premieres at JAFF20.

Non-competition programs include 22 feature films and 27 short films in Asian Perspectives, and nine Indonesian features in the Indonesian Film Showcase, including “Lost in the Spotlight” (Lupa Daratan), which marks Ernest Prakasa’s return to the director’s chair.

The Panorama program will feature works by acclaimed Asian directors, including “It Was Just An Accident” by Jafar Panahi, winner of the Palme d’Or at Cannes 2025, and “Two Seasons, Two Strangers” by Miyake Sho, winner of the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival 2025.

“Indonesian cinema continues to show significant growth. In just the first quarter of 2025, cinemas recorded 35 million admissions, or around 44% of the total audience in 2024,” said Ifa Isfansyah, JAFF festival director. “A remarkable milestone this year was the animated feature ‘Jumbo,’ which broke records by surpassing 10 million viewers. Indonesian films have also premiered at major international festivals and brought home prestigious awards.”

The festival continues its partnership with Cinema XXI as the main screening venue.

JAFF20 will continue collaborations with longtime partners including the Asian Film Academy and Netflix. Under the Asian Film Academy collaboration, JAFF will bring director Ann Hui for a masterclass and screen two of her seminal works, “A Simple Life” (2011) and “July Rhapsody” (2002), in newly restored 4K versions. The collaboration will also present seven Hong Kong feature films and four short films.

Netflix programs include Reel Life Film Camp, a hands-on workshop for entry-level professionals, and Creative Asia, a forum bringing together creators from across Southeast Asia featuring filmmakers including Kimo Stamboel, Joko Anwar, Erik Matti and Kulp Kaljareuk.

“Last year, we introduced the Sneak Peek program, giving filmmakers a special platform to present early footage of their upcoming releases. This year, Sneak Peek will feature ‘Four Seasons in Java’ by Kamila Andini,” said Alexander Matius, JAFF program director.

JAFF Market returns with six programs: JAFF Future Project, Content Market, Talent Day, Film & Market Conference, Market Screening and Film Lab, held Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 at Jogja Expo Center.

JAFF20 runs Nov. 29 through Dec. 6.

Bob Dylan: Through the Open Window: The Bootleg Series Vol. 18 Album Review

by jummy84 November 8, 2025
written by jummy84

In one of the finest moments of sequencing on this set, the next song up is “Boots of Spanish Leather,” an outtake from the Freewheelin’ sessions with Tom Wilson (Dylan would eventually re-record it for The Times They Are A-Changin’ in 1964). The contrast between the rousing chorus of “Blowin’ in the Wind” and the stillness of “Boots” is jarring enough to bring out new aspects of each song, with “Boots” sounding even lonelier, even more despairing. Written during a trip to Italy as his relationship with Suze Rotolo appeared to be crumbling, it sounds intimate and unguarded, intensely private rather than public; he needs a quiet moment to himself in order to rouse an audience with his friends.

Though known in folk circles, Dylan was still struggling to find a larger audience and break through to the pop market. He signed with Columbia in late 1961, which is roughly where Act II begins. He recorded his self-titled debut with John Hammond producing, but it was not the breakout anyone expected. Here’s where you might want to place your bookmark and give that album another listen, just to get a feel for how this young man presented himself to the world; unexpectedly, Bob Dylan might work better as an addendum to this bulky novel than as a standalone release. Even Dylan considered it a failure, both commercially and creatively, and he was moving so fast that these traditional tunes and talking blues were old news by the time it was released.

His follow-up, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, did not come easy. He worked through a series of aimless sessions over several months, finally piecemealing an album that wasn’t too dissimilar from his debut. At the last minute Columbia decided that “Talkin’ John Birch Society Paranoid Blues” was potentially libelous and removed it from the album. Dylan was irate, but it worked out in his favor, as it gave him a chance to quickly record several new songs and redo about half the album, including “Girl from the North Country” and “Masters of War”—two of his best compositions from the era. The new tracklist sharpened his Cold War fears while also introducing more intimate struggles, in particular his insecurities about Rotolo. The album toggles gracefully between the public and the private, each lending weight to the other, which contributes to its status as Dylan’s breakthrough as well as just one of the best folk albums ever made.

Mo’Nique Wants ‘Public Open Conversation’ With Tyler Perry & Oprah

Mo’Nique is once again asking for transparency — this time, in front of the world.

During a recent appearance on The 85 South Show, the Oscar-winning actress and comedian said she still wants a public, open conversation with Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey about long-standing issues she believes affected her career.

“My knees don’t buckle. I don’t waver from what I know is right. I don’t waver from the truth,” Mo’Nique said. “So if that has to be public, I’m okay with that.”

She added that she’s still waiting for both Perry and Winfrey to agree to the conversation, saying:

“I’m still waiting for Tyler Perry, still waiting for Oprah Winfrey to say, ‘Let’s have this public open conversation. Don’t run. Don’t run.’”

According to Mo’Nique, the tension stems from her decision not to travel internationally to promote Precious — the 2009 film that Perry and Winfrey co-produced alongside director Lee Daniels. She has long claimed that the fallout from that decision led to her being blacklisted in Hollywood.

Mo’Nique also addressed the long-running narrative that she’s “hard to work with,” saying that label originated from Tyler Perry himself.

“For the people that said I’m hard to work with — they’ve not worked with me,” she explained. “But when you have a man named Tyler Perry saying, ‘She’s difficult to work with,’ and you’ve never worked with me, that cost me twelve years of my career.”

At this time, neither Tyler Perry nor Oprah Winfrey have publicly responded to Mo’Nique’s renewed call for a conversation.

‘Don’t Open The Gutter’, Heated Argument Erupted Between Malti Chahar And Amaal Malik During Captaincy Task

by jummy84 November 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Pranit More has officially stepped into the role of captain in the latest episode of Bigg Boss 19. However, his journey to the top was far from smooth, with tension, arguments, and manipulative strategies taking center stage in the house. The captaincy task became a battleground for not just the contestants, but also the drama that unfolded between Amaal Malik, wildcard contestant Malti Chahar, and Tanya Mittal.

Amaal Malik

Malti Chahar And Amaal Malik Had Fight

The latest episode of Bigg Boss 19 turned into a chaotic mess as Amaal Malik and Malti Chahar clashed during the highly-anticipated captaincy task. Amaal, who was waiting for a ball to arrive during the task, had a rather heated exchange with Malti when she appeared on the scene. Amaal sarcastically remarked, “Don’t open the gutter,” which seemed to trigger Malti. Malti, always quick with her comebacks, retorted, “You only like the gutter, right?” Amaal didn’t hold back, responding, “Yes… that’s why I spoke to you.”

Malti Chahar

This banter quickly escalated into a full-blown argument, with both contestants not backing down. The intense exchange left viewers on edge, wondering where this animosity would lead. However, things didn’t end there. In a shocking turn, Amaal later claimed that Malti had called him a “gutter,” and this twist soon became the focal point of the house’s drama.

Kunika Sadanand

While the rift between Amaal and Malti may have seemed personal, Tanya Mittal’s involvement became evident as she subtly fanned the flames of the argument. Known for her sharp strategies, Tanya seemed to be playing a mastermind role, instigating tension where she could. In the promo, Tanya could be seen asking Amaal, “What was she calling you gutter-gutter?” while Kunika added fuel to the fire, mocking Malti by saying, “She’ll wear his sweater and call him gutter. Wow, wow.”
