“Let’s just toast to the unexpected Christmas…” 🎄 3 Diamonds Films has revealed the official trailer for a holiday chaos comedy called Unexpected Christmas, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Michael Vaughn Hernandez. This family-reunion-turns-into-mayhem family comedy is ready for release in early November to get everyone in the mood for the Christmas season. “This movie and this cast is so special and will be the holiday movie everyone will be talking about.” A family’s perfect Christmas is upended when old rivalries, secrets, and romantic mix-ups come to a head. This holiday, expect the unexpected. Momma Scott’s perfect family reunion falls apart, romantic mix-ups, old rivalries, and plenty of family secrets will at least make it an unforgettable Christmas together. The ensemble cast includes Milton “Lil Rel” Howery, with Tabitha Brown, Anna Maria Horsford, Reagan Gomez, DomiNque Perry, Terrence Terrell, Trell Woodberry, Ricco Ross, Koryn Hawthorne, Cecelia Friday, and Howie Bell. “Unexpected Christmas is relatable, and hilarious, but will truly be a gift for all families this holiday season.” Peek below.

Here’s the official trailer for Michael Vaughn Hernandez’s comedy Unexpected Christmas, via YouTube:

Unexpected Christmas Poster

When the Scott family gathers for Christmas, the perfect dream reunion that Momma Scott (Anna Maria Horsford) planned quickly turns upside down. Her daughter Marissa (DomiNque Perry) returns fresh off a breakup with her boyfriend Richard (Lil Rel Howery) and is shocked when Richard arrives arm in arm with her estranged stepsister Kerry (Reagan Gomez). Marissa tries to play it cool and invites a surprise guest of her own who has everyone talking, while Kerry is cooking up a scheme that could ruin the whole celebration. Add in a few romantic mix-ups, old rivalries, and plenty of family secrets, and everyone is in for an unforgettable holiday. With love, laughter, and a bit of chaos ’round every corner, this Christmas might bring the Scotts closer together—or blow the roof off the house! Unexpected Christmas is directed by American filmmaker Michael Vaughn Hernandez, making his first feature film after many short films and the TV series “For the Love of Jason” and “Honest T” recently. The screenplay is written by Cassandra Mann. Produced by Trell Woodberry, Phil Thornton, Perrí Camper. 3 Diamonds Films & Eammon Films will debut Unexpected Christmas in theaters starting on November 7th, 2025 this fall. Who wants to watch?

“You can’t erase history, can you?” Tull Stories has revealed the official UK trailer for a documentary film titled Still Pushing Pineapples, a fun road trip documentary from UK filmmaker Kim Hopkins. Set for release in the UK starting in November, the film is a follow-up to Hopkins’ 2022 doc film called A Bunch of Amateurs which was about one of the oldest amateur filmmaking clubs in the world. In this one, she follows the former pop star Dene Michael as he clings to the remnants of fame he once had as a member of 1980s novelty pop group Black Lace. Entertainment, working-class culture, human connection, and the power of pop align in this idiosyncratic, moving, funny and unmistakably British road movie that follows an aging pop star, his spirited 89-year-old mother, and his feisty girlfriend as they navigate love, family duty, and the relentless pursuit of one last chart success. The band’s universally known hit Agadoo – both beloved and hated by many, and the high or low point of any party – is what Dene’s best known for. Even still today. But does anyone care anymore? This looks more melancholic than entertaining but still might be a good watch.

Here’s the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Kim Hopkins’ doc Still Pushing Pineapples, from YouTube:

Still Pushing Pineapples Doc Trailer

Still Pushing Pineapples Doc Poster

What happens when you’ve created the worst hit song ever – at least according to the music press? What comes after fleeting fame, and what does it mean to grow old still chasing a dream? Kim Hopkins’ moving & funny follow up to her documentary A Bunch of Amateurs features former pop star Dene Michael as he clings to the remnants of fame he once had as a member of 1980s novelty pop group Black Lace. Still Pushing Pineapples follows Dene, his spirited 89-year-old mum Anne, and also his sassy girlfriend Hayley across Britain and the Costa del Sol in this unmistakably British road movie. En route they navigate love, family duty, and the relentless pursuit of one last chart success. But who needs an ’80s throwback in a loud pineapple shirt and oversized red specs, singing a tired earworm? Apparently, many do (doo doo). 🍍

Still Pushing Pineapples is a documentary film directed by British doc filmmaker Kim Hopkins, director of the other doc films Wanted, Folie à Deux: Madness Made of Two, Voices of the Sea, Cuban Dreams, and A Bunch of Amateurs previously. Produced by Margaréta Szabó. The film will premiere at Bradford’s 2025 UK City of Culture event next month. Tull Stories will debut Hopkins’ Still Pushing Pineapples doc in UK cinemas starting November 28th, 2025 this fall. No US release is set yet – stay tuned. Anyone interested?

Netflix Doc ‘The New Yorker at 100’ – An Inside Look Official Trailer

by Alex Billington

“It’s only 100 years old? Look what it’s done.” Netflix has debuted their official trailer for a documentary film titled The New Yorker at 100, made by Oscar winning filmmaker Marshall Curry. It first premiered at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival and it’s also screening at the Denver Film Festival before debuting for streaming on Netflix in December. Along with The New Yorker Festival in NYC this weekend, of course. For the first time in its extensive history, The New Yorker opens up its offices to filmmaker Marshall Curry, allowing unprecedented access to its newsroom at a pivotal moment for all media – a rare look at what it takes to publish a century of intrepid journalism, generation-defining fiction, and unforgettable cartoons. “I’m fascinated by people with obsessions.” New Yorker at 100 follows all the editors, writers, fact-checkers, photographers, cover artists, and others who bring The New Yorker to life, providing a rare glimpse into the inner workings of one of the great print magazines of our time. This is executive produced by Judd Apatow, and features narration by Julianne Moore, stepping inside the offices in 2024 as they prepare their 100th anniversary issue. Looks like a very fascinating doc in so many different ways about publishing and beyond.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Marshall Curry’s doc The New Yorker at 100, from YouTube:

“The New Yorker is full of people who are obsessed with what they do, whether it’s exposing a government scandal or profiling an obscure musician or policing the use of commas. I wanted to introduce audiences to these obsessives — partly because I found them interesting and funny and insightful, and partly because I think what they do is really important. It’s a tough time for fact-based journalism, and I wanted audiences to understand and celebrate the important work that’s under threat. I knew we wouldn’t be able to capture every aspect of The New Yorker in one film, but I was excited to introduce people — give them a tasting menu — to this long-standing institution and to the vital significance of journalism in general.” –Director Marhsall Curry

The New Yorker at 100 Doc Trailer

The New Yorker at 100 Poster

It’s the fall of 2024, and editor David Remnick and his team at The New Yorker are preparing to face one of their most important deadlines yet: their seminal 100th anniversary issue due on newsstands in just a few months. Meanwhile, journalism is facing unprecedented challenges from every direction. In a new film narrated by Julianne Moore, The New Yorker at 100 gives viewers a rare glimpse inside the century-old machine, showing how the words and images printed on its pages have shaped politics and culture, from changing how we think about nuclear war to introducing the world to the Addams family. Using archival materials alongside interviews with heavy-hitting contributors like Hilton Als, Roz Chast, and Ronan Farrow as well as notable fans of The New Yorker including Jesse Eisenberg, Ronny Chieng, and Molly Ringwald, among others, the film provides a rare glimpse into the legacy and current dynamics of one of America’s preeminent publications. The documentary film brings viewers inside its peerless fact-checking department, lively story meetings, and delightfully idiosyncratic cartoon selection process that showcases the journalistic integrity & intrepid creative spirit required to preserve a celebrated institution.

The New Yorker at 100 is a documentary directed by acclaimed, Oscar-winning doc filmmaker Marshall Curry, director of the films Street Fight, Racing Dreams, If a Tree Falls: Story of Earth Liberation Front, Point and Shoot, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, and the “P.O.V.” doc series previously. Produced by Xan Parker. Exec produced by Judd Apatow, Michael Bonfiglio, Josh Church, Amanda Rohlke, Helen Estabrook, Sarah Amos. This initially premiered at the 2025 Telluride Film Festival this year. Netflix will debut Curry’s The New Yorker at 100 film streaming on Netflix starting December 5th, 2025 this fall. “There’s something wrong with this place. There’s something bad here. I can hear it in the walls.” Quiver Distribution has revealed their official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Beldham, another horror about motherhood and life after having a baby. This premiered last year at the 2024 Sitges and Austin Film Festivals and a few others, and will be out on VOD soon. A struggling young mother fights a generations-old presence lurking within her family home, threatening her safety, her sanity, and the life of her infant child. Starring Patricia Heaton, Corbin Bernsen, Katie Parker, Emma Fitzpatrick. A new mother named Harper returns to her childhood home, only to face a malevolent, age-old entity lurking in the walls. As the haunting escalates, she’s pushed to the brink to protect her baby — and her mind. All these nice birds are being turned into villains in this film! They don’t seem so scary — it’s the creepy witch in the walls that does.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Angela Gulner’s horror film The Beldham, direct from YouTube:

The Beldham Trailer

The Beldham Poster

When she first got pregnant, Harper (Katie Parker) already knew that having a child wasn’t going to be an easy task. What she never expected was to have to deal with a generations-old evil presence that has been living on the family’s farm. Katie Parker, a recurring actress in Mike Flanagan’s works, and Cobin Bernsen, known for The Dentist, among other roles, star in this harrowing tale of ghosts and first-time mothers. The Beldham is written and directed by American writer / actress / filmmaker Angela Gulner, making her feature directorial debut with this film. It’s produced by Talia Bella, Angela Gulner, Mark Meir, Randy Wayne. This first premiered at the 2024 Sitges & Austin Film Festivals last year. Quiver Distr. debuts Gulner’s The Beldham horror film direct-to-VOD starting November 7th, 2025 this fall. Who’s intrigued?

“Find your voice. Speak the truth.” Transmission Films has debuted an official trailer for the Scottish film titled I Swear, which is already playing in UK cinemas now. This film about a young man with Tourette’s premiered at TIFF last month and already hit theaters early in October in the UK + Ireland only so far. From acclaimed director Kirk Jones (of Waking Ned Devine, Nanny McPhee, Everybody’s Fine, What to Expect When You’re Expecting) and based on a true story. Diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome at age 15, John Davidson faced and overcame many hardships from adolescence and into early adulthood as a result of what was a little known and entirely misunderstood condition in 1980s Britain. I Swear is a funny, heartfelt and moving account of John’s experiences. It also shows the process of the securing & filming of the 1989 TV documentary John’s Not Mad, at a time when his Tourette’s condition was barely identifiable. Starring actor Robert Aramayo (who also plays Elrond in The Rings of Power) as John, with Peter Mullan, Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, Paul Donnelly, and Scott Ellis Watson. This looks like a good discovery – a coming-of-age story wrapped up in a tale of what life is like with Tourette’s. Check out the footage below.

Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Kirk Jones’ film I Swear, direct from YouTube:

I Swear Film Poster

Intro via TIFF: Based on an inspirational true story, I Swear charts the remarkable journey of a Scottish man whose life was irrevocably changed by the sudden onset of Tourette’s syndrome. A bright, funny, football-mad lad with everything ahead of him, 15-year-old John Davidson’s life seemingly splinters in 1983 when he develops uncontrollable vocal & physical tics when Tourette’s was barely understood, even by doctors. Feeling ostracized by the world around him — including his family — he retreats into years of relative isolation, burdened by the anxiety, shame, and loneliness… Everything shifts when John (now in his late 20s) meets Dottie, no-nonsense mother of a former schoolmate, who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. The bond that forms between them is as unexpected as it is life-changing. With her fierce encouragement & unwavering support, John finds belonging, purpose, and confidence to be himself.

I Swear is written and directed by BAFTA-nominated British filmmaker Kirk Jones, director of the films Waking Ned Devine, Nanny McPhee, Everybody’s Fine, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 previously. It’s produced by Georgia Bayliff, Piers Tempest, and Kirk Jones. This recently premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival playing within their Centerpiece selection. Studiocanal already released Jones’ I Swear in UK + Irish cinemas starting October 10th, 2025 this fall. It’s already playing in cinemas now. No US release date is set yet – stay tuned for updates. “This is no field trip. Don’t let the plants and birds fool you.” Goldwyn Films has revealed an official trailer for a film called Escobank, an action thriller about a gang of criminals after Escobar’s missing, supposedly buried money in the dense jungles outside of Medellin. The film will be out to watch on VOD in November if anyone wants to follow. Escobank is the story of a ragtag group of misfits, veterans and ex-cons who embark on a perilous journey in the jungles of Colombia to find the buried barrels of cash left behind by legendary drug kingpin. Also known as Escobank: The Hunt For Pablo Escobar’s Lost Fortune. Avi Haddad, Miami’s Prince of Crime, leads his crew to Colombia to find the buried fortune. Haunted by past seekers’ fates and true intentions, tensions rise in the jungle. Avi’s lawyer, Sandy, joins—but her own secrets may be deadlier than the jungle itself. Starring Zohar Liba, Dana Frider, Angel Bonnani, Geroge Iskandar, Rodrigo Poisón, and Harlys Becerra. As expected, this looks atrociously bad. Cheesy filmmaking with awful performances and everything. Avoid at all costs – unless you just have to find out where the money is.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Orit Sher’s action thriller Escobank, direct from YouTube:

Escobank Film Poster

Escobank Film Poster

A notorious group of criminals, each with a haunting past, found themselves in desperate need of cash for their own reasons. At the helm was Avi Haddad, infamous Prince of Crime in Miami, who rallied his crew for a perilous adventure to Colombia in search of the elusive fortune buried by Escobar in the jungles of Medellin, near a shadowy place whispered about as “Heirs Village.” Armed with a treasure map detailing the money’s location, they plunged into the jungle, only to be haunted by the chilling stories of those who had sought the treasure but never returned. The mounting dread began to take its toll, as they grappled with their own demons & began to uncover the true faces behind their masks. Joining this gritty ensemble was Avi’s captivating lawyer, Sandy Ross, drawing her into an act of murder. In an instant, her career crumbles, but Avi persuades her to accompany him, believing she might be his good luck charm. Little does he know, Sandy also holds secrets that could turn her into the very danger lurking beneath the surface…

Escobank is written and directed by Israeli actress / filmmaker Orit Sher, making her feature directorial debut with this film. With additional writing by Sharon Shaked; based on a story by Yaron Nativ. It’s also poduced by Yaron Nativ; exec produced by Shirly Balila, Haim Yehezkel, Yaron Nativ. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Samuel Goldwyn Films will debut Orit Sher’s Escobank film direct-to-VOD starting on November 14th, 2025 coming soon this fall. “It’s evolution and you can’t stop it!” What a strange line of dialogue. Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for the movie Altered, a sci-fi thriller from Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola. After his two Iron Sky movies, and action movies like 97 Minutes, this is his next project and seems pretty bad. In an alternate present society rebuilt after a nuclear war, genetically enhanced humans dominate society. But not everyone has genetics – regular people are called “Specials.” Outcasts Leon and Chloe fight for justice against corrupt politicians exploiting genetic disparity, risking everything to challenge the oppressive system. Altered stars Tom Felton as the hero Leon, with Elizaveta Bugulova, Richard Brake, Aggy K. Adams, and Igor Zhizhikin. They shot this in Kazakhstan and the future city in this is just a VFX-enhanced version of the city Astana. The rest of it looks like one big “huh?!” Set to debut in November if anyone wants to give it a go.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Timo Vuorensola’s sci-fi movie Altered, direct from YouTube:

“Fight the system. Change the world.” In an alternate present where genetic enhancements have become the norm, those who cannot take advantage are pushed into the underground. It’s up to a few brave souls to level the playing field for everyone, but every revolution has its cost. From Timo Vuorensola, visionary director of Iron Sky, and Tom Felton comes an exciting new tale of a dystopian Earth in need of a hero in Altered. Altered is written and directed by Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, director of the famous Iron Sky Nazi action movie and its sequel Iron Sky: The Coming Race, as well as Jeepers Creepers: Reborn and 97 Minutes recently, plus a few other short films. It’s produced by Andreas Klein, Marko Moellers, Doris Pfardrescher, Juris Razgulajevs. Filmed mostly in Kazakhstan. Well Go USA will debut Timo Vuorensola’s Altered film in select US theaters + on VOD starting November 21st, 2025 this fall. Who wants to watch?

“You’re a special family. Thank you so much for letting me into your lives.” Prime Video has revealed the official trailer for a new thriller series titled Malice, ready for a streaming release starting in November. Created by British writer James Wood (“Quacks”, “Cold Feet”, “The Great”) it’s a sneaky series reminiscent of Mr. Ripley. “There’s something strange about him.” Adam (Whitehall) is a charismatic tutor who charms his way into the life of the wealthy Tanner family while they’re on holiday in Greece (at an amazing villa). When the family’s nanny falls dangerously ill, Adam orchestrates his way in to their London home and his true vengeful nature begins to emerge… In this revenge thriller that proves the past never stays buried, one question remains: how do you protect your family from an enemy within. Although who is the real enemy? Starring Jack Whitehall as Adam, David Duchovny & Carice van Houten as the Tanner family, with Christine Adams, Raza Jaffrey, and Phoenix Jackson Mendoza. This looks like yet another twisted, sneaky, totally crazy new series to watch and get riled up over. Who wants to get some revenge on a family?

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for James Wood’s series Malice, direct from PV’s YouTube:

When Adam’s obsession with the family raises questions, those who dig deeper into his past find themselves playing a dangerous game. With his world collapsing around him, Jamie starts to realise that Adam may be responsible for all their recent disasters – but is it too late to save his family? “There’s only one Eddie Murphy. The laughter, the legacy, the life.” Netflix has revealed the main official trailer for another new celebrity biopic documentary – this one titled Being Eddie – a comprehensive look at Eddie Murphy’s life and career. After a few years out of the spotlight, Murphy has come back recently in the last few years, starring in a bunch of movies and series and coming back for Shrek 5 sometime soon. The documentary (out on Nov. 12) gathers comedy and Hollywood legends like Dave Chappelle, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, Reginald Hudlin and more to celebrate the Oscar-nominated actor and his nearly 50-year career that’s seen him break barriers, invent genres, and inspire generations of talent. For the first time ever, Eddie Murphy also invites the public into his home to revisit his breathtaking body of work, all the while revealing the dazzling interior life that has long driven — and grounded — this once-in-a-century star. With appearances by Arsenio Hall, Brian Grazer, Chris Rock, Jerry Bruckheimer, John Landis, Kenan Thompson, Kevin Hart, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Ruth Carter, & many more. Take a look below.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Angus Wall’s documentary film Being Eddie, direct from YouTube:

Being Eddie Doc Trailer

Being Eddie Doc Poster

It goes without saying that there is only one Eddie Murphy. No other teen comedian shared a stage with Jerry Seinfeld at 17, and joined the cast of Saturday Night Live right out of high school. No actor has ever played a cop, a doctor, and a donkey — and dominated every facet of Hollywood he’s touched. Fewer still have been an A-list celebrity for over four decades and counting, and never succumbed to its darker side. Eddie’s unusual combination of explosive charisma, focused ambition, raw talent, deep-set circumspection puts him in a league of his own, and is on full display in Being Eddie. This documentary film is directed by two-time Oscar winner producer / editor filmmaker Angus Wall, making his feature directorial debut after a few other shorts previously. He won Oscars for Best Film Editing on Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & The Social Network before getting into producing & directing. Produced by John Davis, John Fox, Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Terry Leonard, and Kent Kubena. Netflix will debut this new doc Being Eddie streaming on Netflix worldwide starting on November 12th, 2025 this fall. So who wants to watch this?

“You all have the power to do anything.” Film Forum has unveiled the official US trailer for an acclaimed documentary film titled Cutting Through Rocks, made by the filmmakers Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki. This premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (listed as one of my favorite films at the fest) and it played at tons of other fests including Hot Docs, Visions du Réel, Edinburgh, Woodstock, Vancouver, and many others. As the first elected councilwoman of her Iranian village up in the north, Sara Shahverdi aims to break long-held patriarchal traditions by training teenage girls to ride motorcycles and stopping child marriages. When accusations arise questioning Sara’s intentions to empower all the girls, her identity is put in turmoil. But she fights back. A real, genuine badass and feminist hero – fighting for women and doing everything she can in her village. I’m a big fan of this film – I wrote in my recap: “An empowering, inspiring story of perseverance & progress no matter the circumstances or the oppression.” Worth a watch.

Official US trailer for Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki’s doc Cutting Through Rocks, from YouTube:

Cutting Through Rocks Poster

Patriarchy still reigns in the northwestern Iranian village where 37-year-old Sara Shahverdi—divorced, childless, and an avid motorcyclist—became the first woman elected to city council. Wife and husband team Khaki and Eyni followed Shahverdi’s journey over eight years, tracking her inspiring, upstream efforts to subvert economic systems and transform local attitudes (of men and women alike) that destine girls to matrimony and dependence. A midwife and one of nine children, Sara is both deeply connected to the everyday lives of her fellow villagers and a radical lone voice advocating—at great personal cost—for education over marriage, home co-ownership, and girls on bikes. Cutting Through Rocks is a doc film co-directed and co-produced by the filmmakers Mohammadreza Eyni (of The Friend’s House, Convergence: Courage in a Crisis) & Sara Khaki (also of Convergence: Courage in a Crisis). This initially premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year (read our review). Film Forum will debut Eyni & Khaki’s Cutting Through Rocks in select US theaters starting November 21st, 2025. Highly recommend this doc.
