“I’m gonna kill that felt fuzzy!” Terror Films has revealed an official trailer for a new horror comedy called The Fuzzies, about evil children’s show puppets come to life. This low budget indie creation is a feature version of filmmaker Josh Funk’s original short film from 2020 also called The Fuzzies. And it features some very cool stop-motion work and puppetry. Childhood friends reunite at the eerie and spooky estate of their famous friend to mourn her passing. They experience what nightmares are made of – as grotesque puppets come alive and sinister stop-motion creatures make them fight for their lives. Starring Rocío de la Grana, Baylee Toney, Dustin Vaught, Gordy Cassel, Karen Leigh Sharp, & Seph Casani. It’s much more playful than scary and more wacky than frightening. Of course it’s a bit similar to Five Nights at Freddy’s, too. There’s also a film at Sundance this year titled Buddy about a killer children’s show mascot. Watch out.

The Fuzzies is directed by American genre filmmaker Josh Funk, making his feature directorial debut with this project after directing many other short films previously. The screenplay is written by Dustin Vaught & Josh Funk. Based on Funk’s 2020 short film of the name name. It’s also produced by Dustin Vaught & Josh Funk. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Terror Films releases The Fuzzies horror film direct-to-VOD starting May 1st, 2026 coming up. “She thinks she’s still trapped in captivity!” 🐳 Lionsgate has debuted an official trailer for a very dumb new horror movie called Killer Whale, an Orca spin on the usual shark movie with all the same tropes. Step aside Free Willy, this one ain’t your friendly killer whale! The story follows best friends Maddie and Trish as they find themselves trapped in a remote lagoon with the dangerous killer whale named Ceto. Their peaceful retreat soon becomes a terrifying fight to stay alive when the ocean’s most bloodthirsty predator seeks vengeance for a brutal life in captivity. Get ’em, Ceto! Killer Whale stars Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson, and Mitchell Hope. It’s a lot like these shark movies such as The Shallows, The Reef, or Open Water, but with a few of its own twists. While I don’t enjoy seeing the beautiful Orcas be turned into villains, I’ll let it slide for one horror movie. Alas it looks awful – even the CGI seems worse than most shark movies. Oh well.

“From this moment forward, your life is mine.” What would you do if they were watching your life through your eyes? Peacock revealed an official trailer for a sci-fi thriller streaming series called The Copenhagen Test, which will be launching on Peacock at the end of December just before New Years. A first-generation Chinese-American analyst realizes his brain’s been hacked, allowing access to his senses and vision. Some kind of “wifi signal in his head” broadcasting it to some other secret organization or criminals or whoever. Stuck between the agency and hackers, he must act normal to reveal the culprits and find out who is tracing him. Simu Liu stars as Alexander Hale, with Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant; along with Saul Rubinek and Hannah Cruz. This reminds me of the movie Source Code. The title is apparently a reference to this idea: The Copenhagen Interpretation, developed by Bohr and Heisenberg, is the foundational understanding of quantum mechanics stating that particles lack definite properties (like position or momentum) until measured, existing in “superpositions”. Very interesting – although I have to say this does look a bit too TV show cheesy for my tastes. Have a look.

“We need to finish what we started.” Epic Pictures debuted the official trailer for an indie sci-fi film titled Space/Time, a low budget yet impressive creation from filmmaker Michael O’Halloran. This is getting a direct-to-VOD release starting in January but we don’t know much else about it because it hasn’t played any festivals. A disgraced team of scientists turn to crime to rebuild their space-bending engine that could save humanity’s future or destroy it. When the team sees their funding cut after a fatal disaster, they resort to criminal activity to finance and rebuild their machine. But what will it cost them? From this intro it sounds like an anti-science film which is a pretty bad idea. “We wanted the film to capture the rush of discovering something impossible, that moment when the world suddenly feels bigger & characters are pushed to make choices about what matters most to them,” the director states. Hmm all sounds strange… Space/Time stars Ashlee Lollback, with Hugh Parker, Pacharo Mzembe, Haroon Jafarey-Hall, Shaun King, Rob Horton, Craig Gaffney, & many more. Not sure what to make of this – what are they really going for here?

“When all seems lost… the heart prevails.” Samuel Goldwyn Films has debuted the full official trailer for an indie survival thriller film titled Hazel’s Heart, based on a true story from the 1920s. It’s the first feature film directed by North Dakota producer / writer Daniel Bielinski, and will be out on VOD directly later in December coming up. Based on the true story of Hazel Miner, now turned into this religious fable. In March of 1920, three children become lost in a white-out blizzard in the middle of North Dakota. For the next 25 hours, they must fight to survive while their father leads a desperate hunt to find them before it is too late. A powerful story of perseverance and survival in freezing temperatures. The film stars Madelyn Dundon as Hazel Miner, Stelio Savante, Genevieve Bielinski, Xavier Bielinski, Timothy E. Goodwin, David Michael Reardon, with Franni Cash, Todd Terry, and Laurie Fortier. This looks blatantly cliche and cheesy, of course, but I’ll give them some credit for trying to recreate the blizzard to film in to tell this story.

The film not only stars Kate Winslet, it is also her feature directorial debut. She helped produce the film Lee but this is her first time directing anything and it looks like a heartwarming film about family. The story follows a big group of fractured siblings who must come together under sudden and trying circumstances. It’s hitting theaters first for a few weeks before streaming at the holidays. The film takes place just before Christmas, when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health thrusts four adult siblings & their exasperating father into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics. However, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms — with biting humour, blunt honesty, and plenty of love. The film stars Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, Kate Winslet, and Helen Mirren. Along with Stephen Merchant, Fisayo Akinade, Jeremy Swift, and Raza Jaffrey. Well, now that’s a seriously impressive cast! This looks deeply emotional and intimate, a bit about how chaotic all families are.

Take a look at the official trailer for an indie suspense thriller called Death Among the Pines, latest from filmmaker / actor Nathan Shepka – who both stars in and directs this film. From the same team behind this year’s other gothic chiller The Baby in the Basket comes a new Hitchcock-inspired mystery thriller called Death Among the Pines. One night during a heavy rainstorm, a stranded stranger knocks on the door of Angela’s country cottage, claiming his car has broken down. Angela allows him in to shelter but soon a police officer arrives, asking questions, amid conducting a manhunt for an escaped criminal. The trailer starts a bit slow but builds up to some real fascinating intrigue.

“Some secrets should stay buried.” One night during a heavy rainstorm, a stranded stranger knocks on the door of Angela’s (Nicolette McKeown) country cottage, claiming his car has broken down. Angela warily lets him in to shelter but soon after, a police officer arrives, asking questions, amid conducting a manhunt for an escaped criminal. Angela puts two & two together, but is there more to it than she thinks? Death Among the Pines is directed by Scottish actor / genre filmmaker Nathan Shepka, director of the films Holiday Monday, When Darkness Falls, Lock & Load, Dead Before They Wake, and The Baby in the Basket previously. The screenplay is written by Tom Jolliffe and Nathan Shepka. Produced by Gary Collinson, Tom Jolliffe, and Nathan Shepka. This hasn’t played at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Shepka has already released Death Among the Pines direct-to-VOD – it’s available to watch now on Prime Video online.
