Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, and Sanya Malhotra’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a good opening weekend. Despite stiff competition from Kantara: Chapter 1 and Jolly LLB 3, the Shashank Khaitan-directed film has maintained an upward trend at the box office.

bitchy | Sophie Chandauka is closing Sentebale’s UK office & canceling polo fundraisers

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Back in March, Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso resigned as patrons for Sentebale, the charity they co-founded in honor of their mothers. Sophie Chandauka was the reason why they stepped down – as Sentebale’s chair, Chandauka was looting the charity’s reserves and blowing money on high-priced “consultants” who didn’t do anything or bring in any extra money. When the board of trustees asked Chanauka to step down, she ran to the British Charity Commission and lied her ass off, claiming that she was being bullied by racists. She kept giving unhinged interviews and making a horse’s ass out of herself for months. During that time, the Charity Commission investigated both sides. They cleared Harry and everyone else of bullying and harassment, but they did nothing to rein in Chandauka’s sinister actions within Sentebale.

To this day, Chandauka is still Sentebale’s chair, though almost all of the original trustees have resigned in disgust. In August, we learned that Chandauka mothballed Sentebale’s Children’s Center in Lesotho, a center which provided critical care to kids with HIV. We also learned that she’s blowing through the cash reserves of the charity, and she fired almost all of Sentebale’s London staff. Well, on Friday, Chandauka finally revealed Sentebale’s current finances, and she and Iain Rawlinson – a longtime associate of Prince William – also announced that they closing Sentebale’s London office. Not only that, but Sentebale will no longer have fundraising polo matches.

No more polo matches: Sentebale has scrapped its fundraising polo matches after a row with the Duke of Sussex. The charity based in southern Africa said it would stop using the sport as a way of raising money as it distances itself from the Duke after a bullying and racism dispute. Funds raised from the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup – which the Duke personally took part in – represented 18 per cent of the charity’s income last year. However, a report into its yearly accounts published on Friday showed that polo would no longer feature as the charity’s flagship fundraiser.

Iain Rawlinson the weasel: Rawlinson, a member of Sentebale’s board of trustees, told the Telegraph: “These polo games, which attract great generosity from high-net worth individuals or funds who want to support the charity – those events definitely have their place. We’re not being critical about that as a concept. The reason for [dropping it] is it puts quite a lot of pressure on individuals, and it can mask structural weakness in the financial model of the charity.”

Rawlinson on Harry’s generosity: As an example, he cited the Duke’s £1.2m donation from the proceeds of his memoir, Spare, as masking “the fault lines in the financial model which had really been producing losses since 2017… Those problems can be summarised by saying there was a very narrow but very loyal donor base for the charity. But it also masked the very high level of cost…where those costs could only be borne by the virtue of the generosity of Prince Harry.” He explained that what future donating organisations would like to see is “a more resilient financial model, which is not dependent on a single patron, for example”.

No more London office: Elsewhere in the accounts, the closure of Sentebale’s former London office, which was costing the charity £650,000 yearly, was listed as part of an effort to reduce £1m a year. Mr Rawlinson said: “If you have got a £600,000 plus cost in the centre of the organisation, which is not programme specific and can’t be recovered through programmes, you have to go and do events. You have to lean on the patron to play polo, you have to do all of that type of thing. And then that creates a certain modus operandi in the organisation.”

[From The Telegraph]

The Telegraph’s report also included quotes from Chandauka, which read as corporate double-speak, lies and bullsh-t. Don’t even bother. They’re still doing the most to blame Harry for… financially supporting a charity HE founded to honor HIS mother. They have a grudge against Harry for… giving millions of dollars to Sentebale and organizing polo fundraisers. They claim that model wasn’t sustainable. Well… we’re seeing Chandauka and Rawlinson’s sustainability in action. They lost the Sentebale polo matches’ main donor. Most of the old donors left with Harry and Seeiso. Chandauka is looting the reserves to pay for “consultants,” and they’ve now mothballed Sentebale’s Children’s Center in Lesotho AND closed Sentebale’s London office. I thought Sophie had all of these big plans, I thought her expensive consultants were fundraising rainmakers? Why is Sentebale struggling so badly under Chandauka and Rawlinson’s leadership if they’ve gotten exactly what they wanted?

Taylor Swift’s ‘Showgirl’ Movie Opens No. 1 at Box Office

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

Taylor Swift’s The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is off to a spectacular start with a No. 1 debut at the domestic box office.

The pop superstar’s limited theatrical event — a one-weekend-only experience giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl — is expected to bring in between $28 million and $32 million from 3,702 theaters, according to projections from Swift’s team and distribution partner AMC Theatres (per The Hollywood Reporter). Rival studio estimates are even higher, with some predicting the film could surpass $35 million in its opening weekend.

Females made up nearly 90% of opening-day audiences on Friday (Oct. 3), according to THR.

Dwayne Johnson’s A24 wrestling drama The Smashing Machine is struggling in its debut, projected to earn $6 million, which is below initial expectations of $12–$14 million.

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl has been met with rave reviews from fans, earning a coveted A+ CinemaScore, matching the audience response to Swift’s 2023 record-breaking concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

Running 89 minutes, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl features the premiere of the music video for the album’s opening track, “The Fate of Ophelia.” It also includes exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot, lyric videos for the set’s tracks, and personal reflections from Swift herself on the creative process behind the music.

The special event is showing in theaters only from Oct. 3-5. Check out Billboard‘s eight biggest takeaways from the theatrical takeover here.

This isn’t Swift’s first box office triumph. In 2020, she released the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary Miss Americana, followed by The Eras Tour concert film in 2023, which went on to gross $179.2 million domestically, becoming the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office collection day 3: Varun, Janhvi film holds steady, earns over ₹7 crore

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office day 3: Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s romantic comedy opened to a mixed response on October 2, and has managed to hold its ground at the box office. According to the latest update, the film has raked in ₹22 crore till now.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office day 3: The film has been directed by Shashank Khaitan.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office update

As per trade tracking site Sacnilk, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari the film registered business of ₹7.25 crore, taking the total business to ₹22 crore.

The film had an overall 22.72 per cent occupancy in Hindi on Saturday. When it comes to the morning shows, the registered footfall was 11.99 per cent, with afternoon shows seeing 27.20 per cent footfall. The evening shows saw 28.96 per cent footfall.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari collected ₹9.25 crore on its opening day. The film saw a decline on its second day, earning less than half of what it made on Day 1. The film collected only ₹5.5 crore. However, it picked up on day 3.

The film is holding steady despite tough competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, which has minted over ₹155.19 crore. However, it has surpassed the lifetime collections of Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh’s Mere Husband Ki Biwi ( ₹12.85 crore) and Loveyapa ( ₹8.85 crore).

About Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the romantic comedy narrates a story of Varun and Janhvi teaming up to make their exes, Sanya and Rohit, jealous. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, with some praise for the humour and performance, but criticism for the film’s pacing and overall impact. The film opened to ₹9.25 crore net in India on Dussehra, which is higher than some recent Bollywood romcoms, but a letdown considering the film’s festive release. The film clashed with Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1.

Produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra, with Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi and Abhinav Sharma in supporting roles. An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review reads: “You wish the film had more of this spark, but such moments are few. Varun and Janhvi look good together, yet the story itself lacks surprises. You can predict its moves from a kilometre away. The only person fully invested is Varun, who has mastered these goofy characters to the point of effortlessness. He is the one who keeps you in your seat.”

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s Box Office Disaster: Varun Dhawan And Janhvi Kapoor’s Film Sees Huge Drop On Day 2! | Glamsham.com

Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy-drama Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari hit theatres on October 2 with a promising start but has since seen a steep drop in collections. According to trade tracking portal Sacnilk, the film earned ₹9.25 crore on its opening day. However, the momentum didn’t last. On its second day, which also marked its first Friday, the film saw earnings fall to just ₹4.04 crore—less than half of Day 1’s total—bringing the two-day domestic collection to ₹13.29 crore.

The film recorded an overall occupancy of 14.94% on Friday, with only 9.06% turnout in the morning, slightly improving to 17.44% in the afternoon and 18.33% in the evening. Despite the star power and Karan Johar’s backing, the film is trailing far behind the box office juggernaut Kantara Chapter 1, which earned ₹61.85 crore on Day 1 and ₹43.65 crore on Day 2. Kantara Chapter 1 has now amassed a domestic total of ₹105.5 crore.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari features Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, alongside Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maneish Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhinav. The story revolves around Sunny (Varun Dhawan), whose girlfriend Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) leaves him under family pressure to marry Vikram (Rohit Saraf). Meanwhile, Vikram abandons his fiancée, Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor). Heartbroken, Sunny and Tulsi join forces to sabotage their exes’ wedding and reclaim their love.

While the premise sounds engaging, critics say the film fails to deliver. As noted in a Hindustan Times review, “The message that love shouldn’t be sacrificed due to family pressure is lost, because the families lack depth or credibility. The script leans too much on romance and forgets character development.”

Bollywood actor Archana Puran Singh’s latest vlog saw her, along with her family and celebrity food vlogger Kunal Vijaykar, on a delicious quest to find the best Maharashtrian cuisine in Mumbai. But the fun took a surprising turn when her son, Ayushmaan Sethi, dropped a quirky revelation, that he once ate Katy Perry’s leftover cake after a star-studded Karan Johar party.

Archana Puran Singh’s son Ayushmaan Sethi recalls eating Katy Perry’s leftover cake.

How Ayushmaan Sethi ate Katy Perry’s leftover cake

While enjoying Maharashtrian delicacies, Archana quipped to Kunal, “You are just having leftovers. We have just left the leftovers for you.” Hearing this, Ayushmaan casually revealed, “I remember eating Katy Perry’s leftover cake.” Archana paused for a moment before Kunal jumped in, asking in disbelief, “Katy Perry’s leftover? How?”

Ayushmaan explained, “Yes, you heard me right. I ate Katy Perry’s leftover cake. When I was working at Dharma Productions with Karan Johar, he hosted a huge party at his house where Katy Perry was present. The cake-cutting happened past midnight, so very few people ate it. The next day, he sent the leftover cake to the office and said, ‘Jisko bhi khaana hai khaa lo’ (anyone can eat). I sat down and ate it.”

About Archana Puran Singh’s son

In one of their vlogs, Ayushmaan shared that he had always excelled academically, securing the first rank in his class in both his 10th and 12th grades. He revealed that he applied to an Ivy League college and was accepted, but turned down the opportunity to pursue acting instead of further academics. Archana also revealed that her son continues to attend auditions for web series and films, facing multiple rejections along the way.

About Archana Puran Singh’s vlogs

Archana’s vlogs offer candid glimpses into her personal life, featuring her husband, actor Parmeet Sethi, their sons Aaryamann and Ayushmaan Sethi, and Aaryamann’s fiancée, actress Yogita Bihani. The family explores cuisines across Mumbai, indulging in food challenges, restaurant hunts, and travel adventures. The vlogs capture humour, warmth, and family camaraderie, making them a favourite among fans.

On the work front, Archana was last seen in The Great Indian Kapil Show and in Karan Johar’s film Nadaaniyaan, starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor in lead roles.

Hrithik Roshan has penned a note on War 2 and returning to play Kabir after the film released during Independence Day and underperformed at the box office.

Expectations were sky high for Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2, which was released in theatres during the Independence Day window. The action thriller opened to mostly mixed reviews and underperformed at the box office. On Friday, more than a month since the film’s release, Hrithik has opened up about playing Kabir in the action thriller, hinting at the film’s box office performance. Hrithik Roshan shared new BTS stills from the shoot of War 2.

Hrithik pens a note on War 2

Sharing BTS stills of the film during the shoot, Hrithik penned a long note on the process of taking on the sequel and said in the caption, “Playing kabir was so much fun. So relaxed , knew him so well. It was going to be easy. Finally a movie I could do like so many others do, keep it simple , play the actor, do your job and come home. And it was exactly that. I was taken care of so well by my director Ayaan. It was such a pleasure to have his energy on set.”

He added, “Everything seemed so perfect. Like it’s meant to be. A sure shot. No worries , just needed to do my job right. Which Ofcourse I did. But something was lurking behind that presumptuous certainty. A voice that I kept shutting out..”This is too easy … I know this too well.” And another that said “I deserve it , every film doesn’t have to be a torture and trauma and an incessant search for the truth of the moment.””Just relax.””

About War 2

Helmed by Ayan Mukerji, the film is the sixth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Apart from Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, the film also stars Ashutosh Rana and Kiara Advani in key roles. The film opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, with many criticising its dull writing and poor VFX.

Sources reported that War 2 has a landing cost of ₹400 crore for Yash Raj Studios. This includes the production budget and marketing costs. The film managed to collect slightly above ₹ 235 crore in India.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office day 1: Varun Dhawan film makes ₹9 crore amid stiff competition from Kantara

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office day 1: Director Shashank Khaitan’s much-anticipated family entertainer, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially opened to a moderate start at the box office, earning approximately ₹9.2 crore net on its first day in India, according to Sacnilk.

Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari box office day 1: Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor starrer is facing tough competition from Kantara: Chapter 1, both releasing on October 2

SSKTK Vs Kantara Chapter 1

One of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s biggest challenges is its box office clash with Kantara Chapter 1, the much-hyped Kannada prequel directed by and starring Rishab Shetty. The latter has opened with over ₹65 crore.

Which city saw the most footfall?

Released on October 2, the film saw an overall Hindi occupancy of 32.45%, with evening shows driving the majority of footfall. Cinema occupancy on Day 1 showed clear regional differences. Chennai led with 58%, followed by Bengaluru (51.33%) and Kolkata (45.67%), with peak turnout in evening shows. Mumbai, NCR, and Hyderabad also performed well, while Surat, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad saw low footfall. Across cities, afternoon and evening slots dominated, with Chennai standing out for its high engagement despite limited shows.

Starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf, the film rides on Dharma Productions’ glossy presentation and romantic-comedy beats. Despite a decent buzz and star power, SSKTK faced stiff competition from Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, which opened to a massive ₹65 crore on the same day, overshadowing many releases with its mythological action-drama scale and critical acclaim.

SSKTK review

While fans praised the film for its light-hearted tone and lead pair’s chemistry, critics had a more measured response. “In the performance department, Varun keeps you entertained, grasping the beats well. Janhvi looks pretty and is earnest throughout, but stumbles in the emotional scenes, which should ideally reduce you to a mess. Sanya struggles with an underwritten role, managing to execute it purely because of her acting chops. Rohit performs well. Maniesh Paul, as a wedding planner, evokes some laughs. Overall, what Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari suffers from is not a lack of ambition but a lack of clarity. It wants to be a romance and a family drama all at once, yet it never commits fully to any of these tracks. For a story about fighting for love, SSKTK doesn’t make you fall in love with it,” read the HT review.

It has already crossed the opening day collections of several hit films of the year, including Saiyaara ( ₹22 crore), Sikandar ( ₹26 crore), and Chhaava ( ₹31 crore). Can it beat Pawan Kalyan’s OG ( ₹84 crore) and Rajinikanth’s Coolie ( ₹65 crore)? It seems unlikely.

Jr NTR tweeted about the film and wrote, “Congratulations to the team of #KantaraChapter1 on scoring a resounding success. @shetty_rishab sir pulled off the unthinkable by excelling both as a mindblowing actor and a brilliant director. My best wishes to the entire cast and crew, along with @hombalefilms, for fearlessly backing Rishab sir’s vision.”

HT review of Kantara

An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film read, “Rishab Shetty balances the folk traditions that have inspired the film with modern sensibilities better this time around. Chapter 1 gives its women more agency than the first film ever did. But even this one can’t resist the knight-in-shining-armour trope. However strong the woman is, a man must rescue her in the end. Rishab Shetty’s writing seems to allow women to have power and independence only when they rebel or antagonise. Otherwise, it is reduced to tokenism. However, still props to the writer-director for giving a female character more prominence this time around, and even giving her some of the most powerful moments in the film.”
