Nuweb Group to expand North American operations with key hires in the US

by jummy84 October 29, 2025
written by jummy84

The American flag is unfurled during the All-Star Game national anthem at Petco Park.

Nuweb Group is growing its North American presence, adding new roles to support rising demand and an expanding client base across the region.

The UK-founded ticketing infrastructure company has evolved over the past five years into a recognised global partner to the live events industry.

In 2024, the company enabled ticket sales in more than 120 countries, with international markets now accounting for the lion’s share of its revenue.

Nuweb Group is planning further expansion in North America, with its technology already powering ticketing operations at major college sports stadiums and supporting high-profile partnerships across the continent.

The company’s footprint in the region continues to grow following a recent partnership with a Canadian based entertainment group that manages sixteen venues and produces more than 1,000 live events annually.

To support its growing demand, the company has announced a series of strategic hires, recruiting for several new positions including Business Development Representative, Account Executive, QA Developer and Software engineer.

These roles will support the company’s growing client base and strengthen its technical and commercial operations across North America. Each new hire will form part of the bedrock and become a pillar of the company’s expansion ambitions.

Ethan Dean, Marketing Manager at Nuweb Group, recently relocated from the company’s Manchester UK base to Toronto to establish the first foundation stone.

“We’ve operated globally for years, but that’s not always immediately visible,” Dean said. “We want to strengthen our presence on the ground in a way that reflects the scale and reach of our operations.”

Nuweb’s expansion signals the arrival of a new class of infrastructure companies – those that operate quietly beneath the surface but power the biggest stages on earth.

The company credits its rapid growth to a culture focused on speed, curiosity and collaboration. “We execute at blinding speed,” said Jose San Miguel, Managing Director at Nuweb Group. “We’re finding people are tired of working at organisations that move at a snail’s pace, and they absolutely thrive here.”

He added that the company’s remote-first model has been instrumental in attracting talent. “It’s allowed us to attract and work with top talent from anywhere – and let’s face it, nobody likes long commutes.”

The group recently posted the back cover to the upcoming LP, which contains 12 songs overall. The album opens with F+TM’s two recent singles, ahead of cuts titled ‘Witch Dance’, ‘Sympathy Magic’, ‘Perfume And Milk’, ‘Buckle’ and ‘Kraken’.

The rest of the record is comprised of the tracks ‘The Old Religion’, ‘Drink Deep’, ‘Music By Men’ and ‘You Can Have It All’, before concluding with ‘And Love’.

Welch previously revealed that the inspiration for the ‘Everybody Scream’ album came from undergoing lifesaving surgery during the ‘Dance Fever’ tour in 2023. She has since opened up further about the procedure, revealing that she had suffered an ectopic pregnancy.

“The closest I came to making life was the closest I came to death,” she explained in a recent interview. “And I felt like I had stepped through this door, and it was just full of women, screaming.”

Earlier, she had touched on exploring spiritual mysticism and folk horror – understanding the limits of her body and questioning what it meant to be “healed”. These are themes that helped shape the record, along with exploration of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying.

The upcoming album features contributions from IDLES‘ Mark Bowen, Mitski and The National’s Aaron Dessner – all of whom worked with Welch on the title track, too.

Additionally, Welch has talked about being inspired by JADE and the current “experimental” side of pop on her “most personal” LP yet. She also looked back on working with “one of [her] favourite artists of all time”, Mitski.

Florence + The Machine are set to embark on a UK and European arena tour in February. The run of shows includes two nights at The O2 in London – find any remaining tickets here.

FKA Twigs reflects on “catastrophic” North American tour cancellation

by jummy84 October 13, 2025
written by jummy84

FKA Twigs has reflected on the “catastrophic” fallout that followed the cancellation of her North American tour earlier this year.

  • READ MORE: FKA Twigs – ‘EUSEXUA’ review: a lust-fuelled insight into what it is to be human

Back in spring, Twigs took to social media to inform fans that a handful of upcoming shows in the United States and Canada were being scrapped due to visa issues, and later revealed that the “ongoing” visa problems meant the remainder of North American dates, including festival sets at Coachella and Axe Ceremonia, would be cancelled.

Reflecting on the situation, the British singer-songwriter recently told The Hollywood Reporter that scrapping the tour was financially “catastrophic” for her business, and marked “one of the most painful times” in her career.

“Just the emotional and physical and financial ramifications that fell on FKA Twigs the business was catastrophic. All I wanted to do was perform in front of my fans – go to Mexico and do Coachella and tour America. The creative on that show was brilliant. We worked so hard on it, and it all slipped through my fingers like sand.”

She went on to explain that the mistakes were not within her control and said she was “kept in the dark” about how bad the situation was because it wasn’t her remit.

“The flights and the visas and the stage advancing, none of it was done. And I don’t know how to do that because it’s not my job. But you know what? I’ve learned a lot,” she added. “Now I know about buses and freighting; how many days it takes to get from New York to Mexico in a truck; how to get through customs.”

After the tour fell through, Twigs went on to house nine of her dancers in her London home as they worked together to rework the show.

“My back was against the wall, and I came out kicking,” she said, adding: “We lived together and danced and trained and brought the show back to life. … I felt like I was weathering a storm and I turned something really horrific into something positive.”

Twigs went on to embark on a tour of Europe and the US between May and August, and is now confirmed to perform at Coachella next year.

Having brought ‘EUSEXUA’ to the capital with two headline shows at Magazine, her set scored a four-star review from NME, who said described it as a “typically artful performance”.

As for the record itself, NME gave ‘EUSEXUA’ a glowing five-star review, writing: “Twigs has successfully shown that the connection of music, movement, mind, soul and body can be converted into sound, weaving these elements into a cohesive and transcendent artistic experience.

The artist and NME Godlike Genius winner first announced the follow-up to her Mercury-nominated 2025 record ‘EUSEXUA’ back in August, with ‘EUSEXUA Afterglow’ set for release on November 14 via Atlantic/Young. You can pre-order/pre-save here.

First BAFTA North America Honours Awards Postponed

by jummy84 October 12, 2025
written by jummy84

After being announced just this past August, BAFTA North America has announced that its inaugural BAFTA Honours, originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 2 in Los Angeles, California, has been postponed to sometime in fall 2026. The awards will honor one winner per category across the TV, film, and video game industries. No specific reason for the shift was provided. Variety first reported the news.

“BAFTA North America is postponing its inaugural BAFTA Honours to fall 2026,” BAFTA North America said in a statement shared with IndieWire. “Further details, including the date, location and honourees, will be shared in the coming months. We are excited to bring BAFTA Honours to Los Angeles next year and present the iconic BAFTA mask to three distinguished individuals across Film, TV, and Games.”

Is This Thing On?

As IndieWire’s Marcus Jones reported in August, “Officially, the Honours are described as the first event of its kind in the United States, providing a new series of special awards across film, games, and television to recognize individuals and organizations that have had significant and positive impact on the sector.”

He continued, “The event will bestow the iconic BAFTA mask upon three distinguished honorees, marking only the sixth time that the BAFTA mask is awarded in the U.S., marking a significant milestone for BAFTA North America. IndieWire has confirmed that this news comes with final notice that BAFTA’s previous special awards ceremony in North America, the Britannia Awards, has officially come to an end.”

BAFTA special awards are a gift of the BAFTA Academy. Per BAFTA brass, the Honours represents a new chapter “that reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to celebrating global excellence in film, games, and television, and to deepening engagement with the creative communities across North America.” With these awards, BAFTA also reasserts its interest in awarding video games and their creators, still a rarity in the usual awards space.

With this shift, the upcoming BAFTA-centric awards schedule is as follows:

BAFTA Tea Party – January 10, 2026 / Los Angeles
EE BAFTA Film Awards – February 22, 2026 / London
BAFTA Games Awards – April 17, 2026 / London
BAFTA TV Awards with P&O Cruises – May 10, 2026 / London
BAFTA Student Awards – Spring 2026 / Los Angeles
BAFTA TV Tea Party – Fall 2026 / Los Angeles
BAFTA New York Tea Party – Fall 2026 / New York
BAFTA Honours – Fall 2026 / Los Angeles

Nas Calls Kendrick Lamar “The North Star of Hip-Hop”

@the.jasmine.brand : Nas is giving Kendrick Lamar his flowers.

While reflecting on his song “Watch the Party Die,” the rap legend compared Kendrick to the “North Star,” calling him one of the brightest lights guiding hip-hop’s future.

“Kendrick is one of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen,” Nas tells Rolling Stone. “Not just a superstar — he’s like the North Star.”

Nas went on to praise Kendrick for protecting the integrity of the culture, saying that while some artists aren’t truly in it for the art, Kendrick consistently steps up to defend it.

“When we see people not here for the art, they’re damaging the future of it,” he explained. “Artists like Kendrick speak out — he reminds us where we’re lacking.”

The Bug Club has become a go-to for iconic pop-ups and cultural moments, thanks to its fleet of VW DJ Vans & Bars that transform any space into a full-blown party – sustainably and stylishly.

The team have brought The Bug Club vibe to:

  • Formula 1
  • London Marathon and various Great Runs
  • The Commonwealth Games
  • World Athletics
  • Wembley Premier League matches
  • Festivals like Glastonbury, Wilderness, and Bestival
  • Brand campaigns with Amazon, Volkswagen, Deliveroo, and more
  • Events loved by A-list acts like Fatboy Slim

With Jade Thirlwall on board, The Bug Club proved, once again, that they know how to turn a cultural moment into a full-blown experience-part homecoming, part headline act.
