Rani Mukerji weighs in on flexible work hours amid Deepika Padukone’s 8hr-shift demand: ‘When Adira was 14 month old…’

by jummy84 October 1, 2025
written by jummy84

As the film industry continues to discuss Deepika Padukone’s reported request for an eight-hour workday, a demand said to have led to her exit from Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Prabhas, actor Rani Mukerji has weighed in with her perspective, drawing from her own experience of balancing career and motherhood.

Rani Mukerji noted that while flexibility in working hours is essential, the pressure on women remains significantly different from their male counterparts.

Rani recalled her schedule when Adira was a toddler

Speaking to ANI, Rani recalled the filming of her 2018 movie Hichki, which took place when her daughter Adira was just 14 months old.

“When I did Hichki, Adira was 14 months old, and I was still breastfeeding her. I had to pump the milk and leave early in the morning to shoot at a college in town. From my home in Juhu to the shoot location, it would take almost two hours due to traffic. So I’d leave by 6:30 a.m. after expressing milk. My first shot was at 8 a.m., and I’d wrap up by 12:30 or 1 p.m. My team and director were very organised. I’d reach home by 3 p.m., before the traffic worsened. That’s how I completed the film.”

She stressed that conversations around flexible working hours in cinema aren’t new but are gaining visibility today because they’re being publicly acknowledged. Rani also highlighted the double standards faced by women in the industry, pointing out that female actors often have to pause or adapt their careers after motherhood, while their male counterparts rarely face the same expectations.

Rani talks about juggling work with motherhood

“These things have always existed. It’s just that now people are openly talking about it. In any profession, if the producer agrees to shorter hours, you go ahead with the project. If not, you opt out. It’s a mutual choice; nothing is forced. Men don’t have to go through a physical transformation. Women, on the other hand, go through both physical and emotional changes after becoming mothers. But I’m very happy being a woman,” she said.

Rani Mukerji recently earned the Best Actress award at the 71st National Film Awards for her performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway. The film, based on the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty, follows a mother’s emotional and legal battle to reclaim her children from the Norwegian foster care system.

Deepika, on the other hand, is busy shooting Shah Rukh Khan’s King which also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Arshad Warsi.

Shaq Checks On Kobe Bryant’s Mom ‘Once A Month’: ‘She Has A Lot Of Pain She’s Dealing With’

Shaquille O’Neal is doing what he can to make sure #KobeBryant’s loved ones are all good.

The retired #NBA star shared with PEOPLE that he checks on #Kobe’s mother, Pamela Bryant, “once a month” to support her through her grief. Shaq, who won three championships alongside Kobe during their time on the #Lakers, said that Kobe would often check in on his family before passing in 2020.

The 53-year-old mentioned that he also maintains close contact with Kobe’s sisters, Sharia and Shaya. Shaq expressed:

“Their mom has been through a lot in a couple of years, and that takes a toll, and sometimes you just need somebody to just call to check on you.”

As reported, Kobe’s father passed last July. Touching on that, Shaq continued,

“I kind of know what it feels like with the passing of her son, but I don’t know what it feels like to lose a son and a husband, so I’m sure she has a lot of pain that she’s dealing with.”

He added:

“I just try to make her smile. I just try to do whatever I can, because I know it’s tough.”

Best films released in the UK this month: September 2025

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

The month has already got under way with a new film from Spike Lee and the latest entry in the mega-successful Conjuring franchise, and there’s plenty more to come, from a sequel to beloved 1984 mockumentary This is Spinal Tap to the long-awaited closing chapter of Downton Abbey, as the Crawleys return to the big screen for a third and final movie spin-off.

Later in the month, Cillian Murphy has reunited with Small Things Like These director Tim Mielants for new film Steve – which is getting a brief theatrical run before being added to Netflix – while the starry duo of Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell lead new romantic fantasy A Big, Bold, Beautiful Journey.

But perhaps the biggest new release of all for film fans is the latest from esteemed writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson, who had teamed up with Leonardo DiCaprio for new thriller One Battle After Another – which seems like a good bet to be a contender when Oscars season comes around.

To help you pick out the highlights, we’ve put together a selection of some of the best films to watch this month – check out the video above or read on for our choices.

Woman shares she ‘lost all her belly fat in 1 month by cutting out these 5 foods’: ‘You don’t need magic pills’

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Nutritionist and health coach Ruchi Sharmma took to Instagram on July 18 to share how she toned up by avoiding certain foods. She said, “I lost close to 5 kg and got a flatter stomach in a month. You don’t need magic pills. You need to know what to stop eating first. These 5 food types were silently holding me back.” Also read | French biochemist shares simple hack for enjoying fast food with fewer blood sugar spikes

Nutritionist Ruchi Sharma shared her top foods to avoid for weight loss and a flatter stomach.(Shutterstock)

In her post, titled, ‘I lost all my belly fat in a month by cutting out these 5 foods’, Ruchi shared foods you can avoid or limit if you want a flat belly like her:

1. Refined seed oils (Sunflower, soybean)

She said, “Found in namkeens, fried food, biscuits, restaurant meals, you name it, these oils mess with your hormones, gut, and digestion.” What I did: switched to ghee and cold-pressed coconut oil. My bloating reduced, energy improved, and mood stabilised.”

2. Bread, noodles, pasta and grains on their own

Ruchi added, “Eating carbs alone can spike your blood sugar and keep you in fat-storing mode. But carbs aren’t the villain, they just need balance. What I did: I started pairing carbs with protein and fibre, like adding paneer to my dosa or tofu with rice and sabzi. Energy = stable. Hunger = gone.”

3. Tea-time snacking: biscuits, rusks, diet namkeen, makhana

Ruchi said, “These sneaky snacks seem ‘lightl but keep your insulin constantly high. Mindless snacking between meals = constant fat gain. What I did: moved to 2-3 proper meals and 1 intentional snack if needed. No grazing. No distractions. Just real food.”

4. Hidden sugars in ‘healthy’ foods

“Protein bars, health drinks, flavoured yoghurts, granola – all sold as ‘healthy’ but packed with sugar, gums, and low-quality ingredients. What I did: focused on whole, clean protein like eggs, tofu, Greek yoghurt, protein powders, paneer, chicken, and fish. Cravings vanished, and skin cleared up, too,” she said.

5. Flavoured coffees, nut milks and ‘healthy’ smoothies

Ruchi shared, “These are loaded with additives, sugar, and artificial ingredients, even when they claim to be dairy-free or plant-based. What I did: switched to black coffee, plain milk or herbal chai. Less sugar = better gut = clearer mind.”

Ruchi further shared what she ate and did instead to achieve a flat belly:

⦿ Added good fats and fibre like mixed seeds and sabzi to every meal

⦿ Made every meal protein-rich including snacks

⦿ Didn’t give up carbs; instead, enjoyed balanced versions of pasta, dosa, paratha, and sandwiches

⦿ Focused on habits, not hacks

⦿ Walked daily, got sunlight, slept better

bitchy | Mirror: Prince Harry will likely meet his father face-to-face next month

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

Yesterday, we got confirmation that Prince Harry will make his annual September visit to the UK. He’s worked with his patronage, WellChild, and they’ve coordinated a date for the annual WellChild Awards. Considering Harry tends to book several events for his visits to the UK, I would imagine he’ll probably do something with Scotty’s Little Soldiers and maybe one or two other charities, and maybe something around Invictus too. Harry’s schedule is close-hold, for good reason, but we know he’ll be in town on September 8th. I suggested that Harry probably wouldn’t meet his father face-to-face, given that Charles is expected to stay in Balmoral up until mid-September, when he’s hosting the godforsaken Trump family for a state visit. But The Royalist pointed out that while Charles is staying in Balmoral, he travels back to London on a weekly basis for his cancer treatments. So… it’s not impossible to think that the timing could line up for an in-person meeting with Harry. Well, the Daily Mirror says it’s happening.

Prince Harry is poised to see his father, King Charles, for the first time in 20 months when he returns to Britain in two weeks – although Prince William has rejected any reconciliation with his brother. The thawing of relations between the Duke of Sussex and the monarch comes after an informal peace summit with Buckingham Palace officials. Harry is expected in London on September 8 – the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death – to attend the WellChild Awards, a charity event he has long supported.
‌
A US source told the Mirror: “It’s clear there is now a determination on both sides to make this happen. Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry. For the first time in a long time, there’s a genuine sense that reconciliation is within reach. Prince Harry’s team and the Palace have opened a line of communication, and there is every hope that father and son will see one another when the Duke returns to London in September.”

They continued: “After 20 months apart, and with the King continuing his treatment, the feeling is that the time is right to take that step. This is not about grand gestures or set-piece meetings – it’s about a simple face-to-face conversation between a father and his son. The priority is privacy and dignity, but also ensuring the door stays open for further dialogue. As for Harry and William, though, any chance of reconciliation between them has been rejected out of hand.”

Despite the possible meeting, it is understood Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, will maintain her self-imposed exile from Britain, opting to stay in California with the couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet. Charles has not seen his grandchildren since June 2022, when the Sussexes returned for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

[From The Daily Mirror]

I have serious doubts that this comes from a “US source.” They’re trying to make it sound like Team Sussex is leaking details of a meeting, and I just don’t think that would happen. This sounds more like it’s either coming from Prince William’s office (jealous and enraged that the meeting is happening) or Charles and/or Camilla. Anyway, I hope Charles and Harry do get a chance to see each other and, as always, I’m glad that Meghan and the kids are staying safe in Montecito. It’s still hilarious to me that all Harry had to do was give an interview to the BBC and suggest that his dad might not have much time left, and BAM, Charles agrees to meet him. That’s what’s known as “positive reinforcement.” Now Harry knows that all he has to do to get what he wants with Charles is go public about what’s happening behind the scenes.

AtHeart Is Billboard’s K-Pop Rookie of the Month (August): Photos

What would it look like if the “Avengers” of the K-pop industry came together to create a single team? And what if that team was not launched in Seoul, but by the first-ever K-pop label founded in the United States? The answer is AtHeart, who made their dazzling debut in August this year.

The group’s label, Titan Content, was founded by a powerhouse lineup: former SM Entertainment CEO Han Se-min, former SM casting director Kang Jung-ah, world-renowned choreographer Lia Kim, and Dazed Korea founder and current editor-in-chief Lee Guiom. With each of them standing at the top of their respective fields, Titan Content’s establishment in the U.S.—a first for K-pop—made global headlines even before AtHeart’s debut. Media outlets such as Variety and Teen Vogue spotlighted them early on, and Billboard named AtHeart one of the “‘Next-Generation’ K-Pop Group,” further fueling anticipation from fans and industry insiders alike.

The group name AtHeart is a fusion of “Heart” and “At,” symbolizing their aim to grow alongside fans around the world through connection and sincerity. All six members were born between 2007 and 2009, making them a full teenage lineup. Korean members Seohyeon, Arin, Bome, and Nahyun naturally nurtured their idol dreams in environments where K-pop was already part of daily life, from school band stages to music shows. Meanwhile, Katelyn from the Philippines and Michi, who holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Japan, represent the new generation of global K-pop kids—those first inspired to pursue idol dreams after being captivated by performances from BTS and BLACKPINK.

Though they started from different places, the girls now stand together as one under the name AtHeart. Their multinational makeup is another defining strength. “It’s fun to learn and respect each other’s traditions,” Katelyn says. Bome adds, “Our different cultural and linguistic backgrounds actually make our teamwork stronger,” recalling the day she watched Michi and Katelyn see snow for the first time in Korea, laughing like children at the sight. “Little moments like that made us closer,” she says.

AtHeart officially signaled their arrival on May 29 with pre-debut single “Good Girl (AtHeart),” followed by their August 13 debut EP ‘Plot Twist’. Its title track was produced and written by Jonah Shai, known for working with Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, while Rob Kinelski, who has mixed for Billie Eilish, brought sonic depth to the record. The dreamy EDM track thrives on its layered reversals and is elevated further by powerful choreography from 1MILLION’s Lia Kim, Titan Content’s CPO. Together, the package showcases the kind of performance and musical polish that K-pop fans have come to expect—and AtHeart delivered from the start.

From the outset, their extraordinary path drew global attention—but their story is only just beginning. “Someday, I want us to perform on stages like Coachella or SoFi Stadium,” Katelyn shares, while Bome fondly remembers the purity of seeing the first snowfall with her teammates as trainees. It’s this mix of youthful honesty and global ambition that positions AtHeart as one of K-pop’s most exciting new possibilities. Billboard will be following their flight closely.

Before debut, what first inspired each of you to dream of becoming a K-pop idol?

Arin: always loved dancing, and at first, I dreamed of becoming a dancer. I started with belly dance at a community center, then learned ballet, broadcast dance, and street dance. Eventually I thought, “If I want to share the dances I love with more people, shouldn’t I become a singer?” and my path naturally shifted.

Bome: I was in the school band and often had chances to perform. Each time, I realized I received even more energy from the audience than I gave, and that’s when I thought, “This is truly meaningful to me.” That’s when I decided I wanted to be a singer.

Seohyeon: Singing and dancing were part of my daily life since I was young. Watching idols shine on music shows, I started to think, “I want to be like that someday,” and the dream just kept growing.

Nahyun: My parents love music, and naturally I grew to love it too. I even formed a little idol group with my classmates in elementary school and practiced together. That’s when the dream started to become clear.

Michi: I began training in dance at age three—ballet, tap, hula, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary—and naturally got exposed to a wide range of music. I discovered a passion for singing in middle school through musicals. Then I encountered K-pop and was fascinated by the creative direction of music videos. Seeing BLACKPINK in concert was a turning point in my life. The powerful energy of that performance shaped who I am today.

Katelyn: Being on stage was always a dream, but I never had the chance to attend academies or formal training. During the pandemic, I watched a BTS concert for the first time, and it gave me the courage to tell my mom, “I really want to become a singer, please support me!” From that moment, I began seriously preparing to become an idol.

What kind of memories do you hope to create together?

Michi: Since we’re all from different countries, we often talk about touring each other’s hometowns someday—America, Japan, the Philippines. Just imagining it is exciting! To return to our roots and meet local fans there would be such a meaningful moment.

What’s been the most memorable moment since your official debut?

Nahyun: Hearing our name shouted in the audience during our first music show stage. Seeing the lightsticks waving made me realize, “I really am an idol now,” and also gave me a new dream—to meet fans at our own concert one day.

Michi: Our showcase and first music show are unforgettable. When I first heard fans cheering for us, it felt like the world had changed. During “Plot Twist,” I tried to capture its dreamy and emotional mood, but seeing the fans so close, I couldn’t stop smiling. The excitement lingered long after the performance ended.

As a multinational group born from the first U.S.-based K-pop agency, how has that shaped your music, performance, and connection with fans?

Arin: Being from a U.S.-based company gave us a more global perspective when preparing our music and performances. Those efforts are reflected in our debut EP ‘Plot Twist’ so please check it out! And being multinational really helps us connect with fans all over the world.

Katelyn: It’s a huge advantage to learn and respect each other’s cultures in our daily lives. Growing up in the Philippines, I was always surrounded by diverse traditions, so learning Korean language and culture felt natural and exciting as I trained to become an idol.

Bome: Our different backgrounds make our teamwork stronger. I still remember Michi and Katelyn seeing snow for the first time in Korea and reacting with childlike joy—it was special because they came from countries without four seasons. Moments like that brought us closer. And having different sensibilities and styles makes our onstage expression even richer.

Of the songs you’ve released so far, which are your personal favorites?

Nahyun: “Push Back.” We trained on it the longest, so hearing the final recording felt extra special. Our voices blended beautifully, and its Afro-piano groove feels perfect for summer.

Arin: “Plot Twist,” our debut title, is dear to me. The a cappella at the beginning and end stands out, and the lyrics carry a relatable message that makes the song even more meaningful.

Michi: “Good Girl (AtHeart).” It came out in May as our pre-debut track, and its high-energy rhythm lifts my mood every time. It’s also a performance piece that shows our strengths on stage.

Seohyeon: “Knew Me.” The sleek melody line matched my taste perfectly, and I loved it since the demo. Hearing the final version with everyone’s voices blended together moved me deeply.

Katelyn: I also choose “Push Back.” I love Afro-dance, and this song’s vibe immediately made me want to dance. The rhythmic sound fits my taste exactly.

Bome: “Dot Dot Dot…” It caught me from the intro with its intensity, and as an R&B track, it let me show my vocal color in a way that felt authentic to me.

What dream stages or festivals do you want to perform at?

Katelyn: My first dream is to perform in the Philippines, my home country, to show my family and fans how hard I’ve worked. And someday, I want us to stand on stages like Coachella or SoFi Stadium, sharing that moment with fans around the world.

What are some “first milestones” you hope to achieve this year as AtHeart?

Seohyeon: Winning first place on a music show. It would mean so much for our sweat and hard work to be recognized with results.

Michi: Touring the world and meeting fans in person is my dream. And as a rookie group, being named “Rookie of the Year” would be such an honor. It will take a lot of work, but AtHeart will keep growing and showing our best, so please keep supporting us!

Billboard named AtHeart one of the “K-pop Girl Groups to Watch in 2025” even before your official debut. What did that recognition mean to you?

Bome: Hearing that news while preparing for our debut gave us so much strength. It was a moment of reassurance—“We’re on the right path, people are noticing.” We want to keep living up to those expectations with consistent growth and show even better sides of ourselves this year.

At your debut showcase, you said you wanted to grow from a ‘group to watch’ into ‘great artists.’ What does a great artist mean to AtHeart?

Michi: For us, a great artist begins with teamwork. Respecting each other’s individuality while looking toward the same dream creates synergy. We’re still learning and have a long way to go, but if we can sing and dance sincerely on stage and give strength to fans, maybe that in itself could be called “great.” We hope to become that kind of team.

You’ve cited Girls’ Generation as role models, and Sooyoung even appeared in your music video. What do you remember most from that experience?

Nahyun: Meeting her in person felt like a dream—I almost cried because it didn’t feel real. We were so nervous, but she came to us and said warmly, “Don’t worry, you’ll do well. Just work hard on the things you want to do.” That one sentence gave us so much strength and made the shoot much more comfortable.

The choreography for your debut album’s title track was created by 1MILLION’s Lia Kim, who also serves as Titan Content’s CPO. We heard she gave you a lot of advice during preparations—was there a particular piece of advice that stayed with you?

Arin: She told us, “Don’t dance as if you’re trapped, but show yourselves and enjoy it.” That advice really empowered me, and I kept it in mind throughout rehearsals and performances.

And my labour shall commence next month

FKA Twigs has announced a new album, ‘EUSEXUA Afterglow’. Find all the details below.

This weekend, the NME Godlike Genius recipient played the final show of her summer European tour at the Netherlands’ Lowlands Festival.

During her set, she teased an upcoming new album, saying: “New music – I am full and abundant and ready to give birth. Her name is ‘Afterglow’. And my labour shall commence next month.”

According to a report from Stereogum, the album is actually called ‘EUSEXUA Afterglow’, and is reportedly an entirely new album, rather than a deluxe edition, which has previously been speculated.

Last month, Twigs shared the uptempo dance-pop track ‘Perfectly’, which is thought to also be from the new album.

In a five-star review of ‘Eusexua’, NME wrote: “Twigs has successfully shown that the connection of music, movement, mind, soul and body can be converted into sound, weaving these elements into a cohesive and transcendent artistic experience. She brings her own assured sense of creativity and spirituality and combines it with her ability to materialise the intangible. As the album’s closing track says, “You’ve one life to live, do it freely”. What better note to leave it on?”

Her recent European shows followed Twigs dropping out of Coachella last minute, along with other US tour dates, with her explaining: “I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform.”

She has since told fans that one day she would explain “all the tea that’s led to this craziness.”

The singer brought ‘Eusexua’ to London back in March, where NME scored the show a four-star review: “Dancers hang chains connected to her dress to all four corners of the box and every spotlight is rigged onto her; Twigs has no choice but to bare her soul to the crowd.

“To end the set with a song that expresses such spiritual suffering with some of the most magnificent vocals is truly brave; every tremble and crack in her voice is deeply felt, and it’s the most connected we feel to her all night. Now that’s ‘Eusexua’.”

In other news, she’s reportedly in negotiations to portray groundbreaking singer and actress Josephine Baker in a new biopic, and recently made a surprise appearance with Rosé at BLACKPINK‘s first show at Wembley Stadium.
