First Sight Media delivers a video masterpiece to mark CTPA’s 80th Anniversary

Content creation and streaming agency, First Sight Media, has partnered with the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) to create the association’s video content for its 80th Anniversary, celebrating eight decades of championing the cosmetics and personal care industry in the UK.

The centrepiece of this ambitious content project is an anniversary movie, “A Story That We Share”, which premiered at the CTPA’s Anniversary Dinner at 8 Northumberland Avenue, London. The movie showcases the organisation’s rich legacy, core values, and the voices of its members, partners and stakeholders.

Produced by First Sight Media, the video weaves together compelling interviews, stakeholder testimonials, dynamic animation, and professionally voiced narration.

The content has also been strategically repurposed into a ‘Collection’ of shorter video clips entitled ‘What Our Members Say’, showcasing CTPA’s work and contribution on various themes through the words of CTPA members themselves.

“We had a vision for this special Anniversary year, that involved bringing together many voices amongst our members, stakeholders and partners, to capture the ethos and spirit of CTPA’s work throughout the years and looking ahead. An exciting but complex project! First Sight Media’s technical expertise and all-round professionalism made this journey a delight. We’re immensely proud of what we’ve created with them,” said Héloïse Prieur, communications and marketing manager at CTPA.

The collaboration began in December 2024, with filming taking place into 2025. First Sight Media coordinated shoots across multiple London locations to meet the demanding schedules of the CTPA’s Board members and stakeholders. Post-production, including editing, animation, and voiceover work, was completed in April, with the final film ready for debut in summer 2025.

“We were honoured to help articulate how CTPA has been at the heart of their industry for 80 years – through the power of video,” explained Rich Belcher, MD of First Sight Media.

The movie reflects not only the Association’s rich legacy, but also the ongoing excellence that defines both CTPA and the wider cosmetics and personal care industry. It highlights the industry’s essential role in promoting wellbeing, its commitment to safety, quality, trust, and passion, driven by science and innovation.

“The result included a timeline of the industry’s development, showing how CTPA has been there to guide, lead and influence the industry in its 80 years. To show the diversity of membership, we then captured testimonials and interviews with members. Although there were set questions, the range of answers told a fresh and unique perspective, which we were able to integrate to create a movie that is both personal, inspiring and informative,” concluded Belcher.

What Did Billie Eilish Say To Billionaires In Her Speech?

According to the Associated Press, Billie made her statements while accepting the music award at this year’s WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards. While she spoke of her own riches, she also challenged not only the existence of billionaires but what they’re doing for those in need. Her audience included plenty of elite folks, from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan to ‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas.

“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country,” Eilish said. She added, “I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.” 

To recap the evening, late night host Stephen Colbert introduced Billie Eilish on stage at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. During the intro, he announced that the singer plans to donate $11.5 million of the proceeds from her ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ tour to causes dedicated to food equity, climate justice and reducing carbon pollution. After pledging her own pockets, Billie turned to her peers, particularly the ultra rich.

Is The Singer Following Her Own Advice? 

As explained, Billie Eilish is redirecting funds from her tour earnings to support multiple humanitarian causes. But the singer doesn’t appear to be a one-and-done type! Through her Changemaker Program, Eilish has reportedly worked with the nonprofit Reverb for years on its Music Decarbonization Project and its Music Climate Revolution initiative. Other artists involved range from Dead & Company to Harry Styles.

Number Of Billionaires Grew In 2024

Eilish’s comments come as the number of billionaires worldwide continues to grow. For example, 204 new people joined the billionaires’ list in 2024, per to a January report from Oxfam International titled ‘Takers Not Makers.’ The report found that the billionaires grew wealthier three times faster in 2024 than in 2023. That growth suggests an increased concentration of resources globally.

Also, Oxfam predicted at least five people will become trillionaires in the next decade. That’s up from one person the year before. The group called for higher taxes on the rich and other measures to break up monopolies, cap CEO pay and require companies to pay living wages.

Some Billionaires Have Committed To Sharing Their Wealth, But Is It Working? 

The wealthiest Americans have a long history of calling on each other to give away more of their money. In 1889, Andrew Carnegie argued in the essay, ‘The Gospel of Wealth,’ that the richest should give away their fortunes within their lifetimes. Fast-forward to 2010. That year, Bill Gates, Melinda French Gates and Warren Buffett created the Giving Pledge, a commitment for billionaires to give away more than half their wealth in their lifetimes or when they die.

Fifteen years later, some 256 billionaires have taken the pledge. 110 of them are from the U.S., according to a recent report by the Charity Reform Initiative of the Institute for Policy Studies. Those U.S. billionaires represent 13% of the total 876 billionaires in the U.S., per the report. Let THAT sink in.

Additionally, the report found that of the 22 billionaires who have died since taking the pledge, only one gave away his fortune before he died. Only eight of the 22 deceased pledgers fulfilled the commitment by giving away half or more of their wealth at their death. It’s worth noting, though, that some of their estates are still being resolved.

Meanwhile, Chuck Collins, one of the authors of the report and an expert at the Institute for Policy Studies, says the tax system is the real beast. He thinks the Giving Pledge has created an expectation and competition for the wealthiest to give away their money. However, the fortunes of many of the pledgers have increased over time. So, if they plan to fulfill their commitment, they will need to move even more aggressively with giving back.

“In the end, philanthropy is not a substitute for a fair and effective tax system,” Collins said. “The level of extreme inequality will require some form of restoring progressivity to the tax system, a wealth tax as well as progressive income tax.”

In September, Bollywood couple Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal announced that they are expecting their first child much to their fans’ delight. Known for keeping their personal life private, they soon became the subject of a fresh controversy when a media portal published photos of Katrina taken on her balcony, sparking outrage among fans. Sonakshi Sinha  also took a stand, strongly criticising the portal for its action, calling it a major violation of privacy.

 

On Friday morning, a media portal shared pictures of the mum-to-be, Katrina seated on the balcony of her Mumbai residence. Along with these images, the portal added a caption, “Exclusive: Katrina Kaif steps out on her balcony as she nears her delivery date.” The photographs caused an outrage among social media users, leading to widespread criticism of the publication for what many perceived as a breach of ethical standards.


Sonakshi Sinha also expressed her strong disapproval in the comments section, writing, “What is wrong with you? Photographing a woman in her own home without consent and publishing it on a public platform? You all are nothing less than criminals. Shameful.” The post was eventually deleted due to the backlash.

 

Fans praised Sonakshi for speaking up. One fan commented, “Glad someone said it.” Another wrote, “Great of her to call them out so boldly and strongly. She’s absolutely right here.” Another user added, “This is so nice of her to call them out. Much needed.” Another comment read, “So true, Sona, this is pathetic.” 

 

In September, Katrina and Vicky had shared a heartwarming picture on Instagram, featuring Katrina cradling her baby bump. Along with the post, the couple wrote, “On our way to start the best chapter of our lives with hearts full of joy and gratitude.” On the work front, Vicky Kaushal will next be seen in Love & War along with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Fetty Wap’s Prison Photo Goes Viral On Social Media

Fetty Wap has resurfaced online with a rare update from behind bars, giving fans a glimpse into his life while serving time.

The “Trap Queen” rapper, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, appeared in a new photo shared by his sister, Divinity Maxwell-Butts, on his official Instagram account, where he’s seen posing with a group of other inmates.

The image, which quickly spread across social media, shows Fetty looking healthy and in good spirits, sparking support from fans and fellow artists alike.

Fetty Wap was arrested in New York in October 2021—just before he was set to perform at the Rolling Loud New York festival at Citi Field—and was later hit with federal drug charges carrying a possible life sentence.

The rapper ultimately pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and was sentenced to six years in prison in 2023. He is expected to be released on March 13, 2027.

His sister accompanied the new photo with a message showing expressing her and the rapper’s fans’ support: “Free you brother. we miss you and love you #KZ.”

Earlier this year, she also made a passionate plea for clemency for her sibling in a post expressing atonement on his behalf.

“April is Second Chance Month – a time to recognize that people deserve redemption, not just punishment. My brother has taken responsibility and served over half his sentence for a nonviolent offense,” Maxwell-Butts reasoned.

“He is scheduled to be released in 2027. But justice should also mean mercy. His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose. It’s time. #PardonFetty #SecondChanceMonth #BringHimHome.”

In a November 2023 interview with XXL, Fetty took responsibility for his missteps while voicing regret of past decisions made, “Some of the things I think about really is being home,” the hitmaker said at the time.

“I take accountability for everything I did. I don’t really be blaming nobody for nothing. It ain’t nobody else fault that I’m here.”

TikTok Is NOT the Leading Social Media Platform for Microdramas: Study

TikTok, you’re on the clock.

A new study from Ampere Analysis has found that YouTube is the most popular social-media destination for viewers of microdramas, with nearly half (44 percent) of those who have consumed the trendy format doing so on YouTube. While vertical video may feel like the domain of TikTok (and to some degree it is: TikTok captures 38 percent of all microdrama views), YouTube’s sheer scale makes it so difficult to overcome. In September, YouTube accounted for 12.6 percent of all “TV” usage, according to Nielsen. Netflix was second with 8.3 percent — no one else claimed even five percent.

So, combined, YouTube and TikTok make up 82 percent of the microdrama viewership on social — Instagram is in there somewhere, trailer by X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Snapchat, Twitch and Threads. But who is watching these short-short drama episodes of 10 minutes or less? If not you, someone in the same room as you, statistically.

Twelve percent of internet users have consumed a microdrama on social media, Ampere found through a survey of more than 100,000 consumers. (Ampere polled 56,000 internet users aged 18-64, in two different waves, across 30 global markets.)

Leading shorts apps (and not social media ones) like DramaBox and ReelShorts have taken notice. Both are using social media platforms as distribution channels as well as feeder systems.

What should come as no surprise is the demo consuming these vertical videos. Viewers aged 18-34 are 21 percent more likely than the average viewer to have watched one of these “mini-dramas” in the past month. Nearly half (46 percent) of internet users that age watch microdramas.

The APAC (Asia-Pacific) region leads in consumption, which should also shock exactly no one. Nearly all of the existing microdrama platforms hail from China — the market is soon to be flooded with exceptions to that rule — but it is Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines, specifically, with the strongest engagement numbers.

The appointment follows an increase in demand from Vividink’s clients seeking to boost their social media presence and adopt a more strategic approach to how social media is used in marketing.

Bethany Smith, Vividink’s head of social media, explains, “Welcoming Jenna to the team reflects our growth and changes in the marketing world, which we’re excited to explore with her.
