First Sight Media expands team with key creative and commercial appointments

by jummy84 December 13, 2025
written by jummy84

(L to R) Tyrone Herbst and Noel Hoey

Event production and streaming specialist, First Sight Media, has announced the appointment of two key personnel: Tyrone Herbst joins as senior video editor, while Noel Hoey takes up the role of client engagement manager, signalling a strategic move to bolster both the company’s creative output and its dedicated client support,

Bringing a decade of experience to the post, Herbst joins the team as senior video editor. Originally from South Africa, where he successfully ran his own video production company, Herbst moved to the UK two years ago. With a background that merges technical editing precision with digital marketing strategy, he specialises in visual storytelling for promotional and corporate projects. His arrival is timely as the company continues to evolve and  innovate its content creation offering for events and for wider promotional films.

Herbst’s journey to First Sight Media is one of industry symmetry. While working as a digital content manager for an aviation company, he discovered First Sight Media’s work via YouTube while researching content from Event Tech Live (ETL). Impressed by the company’s scope—spanning live streaming, creative production, and graduation ceremonies—he applied. Fittingly, his first on-site project for First Sight Media was filming at Event Tech Live 2025.

Herbst said, “It’s a bit of a full-circle moment for me. I actually discovered First Sight Media via their YouTube content while scouting for promos we could use. The company’s reputation for going beyond standard video production to deliver complex live streaming and creative content appealed to me immediately. Having run my own business, I understand the importance of merging creativity with commercial goals, and I’m excited to bring my experience in visual storytelling to a team that is so passionate about capturing every moment.”

Strengthening the commercial side of the business, Noel Hoey joins as client engagement manager. Hoey will act as the driving force behind building long-lasting client relationships, ensuring customers remain at the heart of the production process. His role focuses on understanding client challenges and vision, translating them into meaningful solutions across live production and streaming.

Hoey said: “For me, business is about genuine partnerships, not just transactions. My goal is to be out in the world, listening to our clients and shaping their long-term content strategies with clarity and creativity. Since joining, the atmosphere here has been unreal: warm, collaborative, and endlessly supportive. It’s clear that kindness and integrity filter down from the top, and that energy allows us to do great work. I’m looking forward to turning initial conversations into trusted, long-term relationships where clients feel confident that we are the partner to bring their ideas to life.”

Rich Belcher, managing director of First Sight Media, commented, “These are two vital appointments for First Sight Media as we continue to grow. For us, recruitment isn’t just about skills on paper; it’s about finding people who instinctively get our values and our personality. Tyrone and Noel are fantastic additions who are not only highly skilled in their respective fields but are also completely in tune with our ethos. Whether it is Tyrone’s technical storytelling or Noel’s dedication to client collaboration, they both embody the energy and professionalism that our clients expect from us.”

Business events leaders to give evidence at Culture Media & Sport Select Committee inquiry into UK business events sector

by jummy84 December 9, 2025
written by jummy84

A panel of senior business events industry leaders have been invited to provide oral evidence to the Culture, Media and Sport (CMS) Select Committee on Tuesday 9 December within the Houses of Parliament as part of their wider inquiry into the UK’s Major Events sector.

Those invited to give evidence include Rachel Parker, Director at the Events Industry Alliance, and Faye Dyer, Chief Executive at ACC Liverpool who will appear alongside Robert Wright, founder and CEO of industry Think Tank, the Business of Events.

Chaired by Dame Caroline Dineage DBE MP, the CMS Committee is comprised of an influential group of cross-party MPs, who will examine the challenges faced by the industry and explore how the sector can tap into new opportunities for growth and collaboration.

The inquiry will examine how business events can drive trade and investment across the UK, the role of the UK Government in supporting and growing this, and examples of best practice and lessons learnt from other countries or the devolved nations. The Committee will also consider the impact of recent challenges on the sector including the UK’s exit from the European Union.

Following the inquiry, the committee will propose its recommendations to Government, with the initial report expected in the Spring of 2026.

The Business of Events, Events Industry Alliance, and ACC Liverpool each put forward individual submissions to the Committee earlier this year as part of a bidding process that attracted 256 applications from a broad range of other industries.

Dame Caroline announced the inquiry during her closing address at The Business of Events: Global Policy Forum, which took place on 1April 2025 at IET London: Savoy Place in Westminster.

Further information on the session and the work of the Committee can be found here

Trump Unveils Media Offenders List Online; Attacks CBS News Again

by jummy84 November 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Donald Trump isn’t just content this week with personally demeaning female journalists, POTUS has now decided to make his war on the so-called “enemy of the people” online official with a new White House website page.

Amidst the tragic shooting of two West Virginia National Guard members in DC on November 26 and a flurry of Truth Social posts and more attacks on Joe Biden’s legacy Friday from the ex-Apprentice host, the Executive Branch launched a digital pummeling of “the Media Offender of the Week.” Promising to chronicle a “record of the media’s false and misleading stories
flagged by The White House,” the page also offers a detailed “Hall of Shame” going back months. It also urges vistors to “Scroll for the Truth.”

Somewhat surprisingly, the newly minted mouthpiece slams the David Ellison-owned and now Bari Weiss-run CBS News over its coverage of Trump’s reaction to ex-Navy pilot Sen Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and five other members of Congress for their video this week for urging troops to disobey illegal orders and remember their oath to the Constitution. Trump went online to accuse Kelly and the others of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH.” He also reposted another Truth Social comment that proclaimed, “HANG THEM,” among other critiques.

With the Boston Globe and the UK broadsheet The Independent joining CBS News at the top of the Media Offenders page, the traditionally PR pugilistic White House lists the “Offense” as: “The media misrepresented President Trump’s call for Members of Congress to be held accountable for inciting sedition by saying that he called for their ‘execution.’”

Sidestepping the “execution” part of the story, one of the National Guard deploying White House’s talking points is “President Trump has never issued an illegal order. The Fake News knew that, but ran with the story anyway.”

As anyone who has been alive the past 40 years knows, Trump has made a career out of attacking the media a.k.a. “fake news, so nothing new in that.

However, announced on the White House social feeds and by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt today, the scope and depth here is something different.

Listing literally dozens of TV segments, newspaper and online articles that rubbed the White House the wrong way, the site also features a Hall of Shame quartet and leaderboard.

Both spotlight the Washington Post, owned by Trump ring kisser Jeff Bezos, along with the perhaps soon to be David Ellison-owned Warner Bros Discovery‘s CNN, and the Comcast-owned MSNBC (which has actually been known as MS Now since November 15 as it heads into full-spin off mode). Among the trio of offenders this week, Ellison’s CBS News also makes the legacy list.

CBS News WaPo, CNN and MSNBC are obviously on the leaderboard, followed by the Trump sued New York Times, Politico and the Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal. Trump may be suing the WSJ for $15 billion over its coverage connect him and deceased pedophile (and Trump 1990s party pal) Jeffrey Epstein, but, unlike the $1 – 5 billion lawsuit threatened BBC, Fox News doesn’t seem to be found anywhere on the Media Offenders list(s).

Going full power point, the White House triples down with a word cloud of sorts re-listing some alleged offenders. Repeatedly attacked late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert escape retribution by genre in this round, but Team Trump tosses a few other outlets in there too — even some MAGA friendly ones.

The White House did not respond this post-Thanksgiving Friday to Deadline’s request for comment on the new Media Offenders web page. Reps for CBS News also did not get back to us over their placement on the inaugural Media Offenders list. Though Trump and his MAGA gang have brawled with CBS News frequently in the past, since Ellison officially took over parent company Paramount this past summer, POTUS has spoke highly of the House of Cronkite.

Just this month, in his first 60 Minutes sit-down since he was paid out $16 million over a pretty thin lawsuit over a pre-Election 2024 interview with Kamala Harris, Trump called Free Press founder and newly anointed CBS News Editor-in-chief Weiss “s a great person.” Having referred to David Ellison and his father/second richest man in the world Larry Ellison as “friends” and “supporters, Trump called the Paramount purchase and new leadership at CBS News “the greatest thing that’s happened in a long time to a free and open and good press.”

CBS News, Ellison and Weiss may not be feeling that love so much tonight.

Then again, with Trump putting up a “TRUMPLICANS!” proclaiming AI image of a 2028 campaign poster today too, the Constitution may not be feeling the love either:

Dharmendra Isn’t Dead, But Journalism Might Be: The Curious Case Of Media Hoaxes

Dharmendra Isn’t Dead, But Journalism Might Be: The Curious Case Of Media Hoaxes

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Last week’s false reports about veteran actor Dharmendra’s death once again exposed the rot within India’s digital news ecosystem. The news spread like wildfire, amplified by dozens of unverified posts, fan tributes and misleading headlines. Within hours, the rumour had taken a life of its own, forcing the actor’s family to step in and stop the chaos.

It was Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife and fellow actor, who finally broke the silence. Condemning the fake news, she said that such fabrications were “unforgivable” and appealed to people not to spread unverified information. Her statement restored some calm but also reignited a larger conversation on how digital-age journalism has turned into a race where verification often comes second to virality.

The incident became a case study of how the need to be first can often come at the cost of being right. News portals, influencers and even some entertainment reporters hastily picked up the story without official confirmation. Within minutes, the rumour turned into an “obituary,” and the audience, conditioned by social media’s urgency, responded emotionally before reason could intervene. By the time fact-checkers debunked it, the false news had already reached millions.

This wasn’t the first time such misinformation shook the industry. Over the years, several actors have fallen prey to premature obituaries. In 2016, similar hoaxes targeted Dilip Kumar, whose health updates often became clickbait. In 2022, Lata Mangeshkar’s family had to issue clarifications multiple times before her actual demise, as rumours of her “critical condition” flooded timelines. Even icons such as Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth have faced such baseless reports.

Each instance chips away at public trust in the media. The entertainment beat, once defined by exclusive interviews and thoughtful critiques, has increasingly become a realm where “breaking news” thrives on speed, not accuracy. Journalists, particularly in online platforms, are now caught in a system that rewards immediacy over integrity. As a result, a single unverified tweet can snowball into nationwide panic within minutes.

For public figures like Dharmendra, the emotional toll is immense. Beyond the personal distress caused to their families, such fake news also disrupts their relationship with the public. Actors who once relied on the media to convey genuine updates now hesitate to engage, fearing misrepresentation or sensationalism. This breakdown of trust harms both sides, the stars, who become victims of rumours and the audiences, who grow increasingly cynical of everything they read.

In Hema Malini’s words, calling the situation “unforgivable” was a reflection of frustration with a news culture that seems to have lost its ethical compass. Her statement reminded both journalists and readers that death, especially, is not a subject for speculation or online engagement. When rumours of such magnitude circulate unchecked, they do more than misinform, they desensitise people to the value of truth and empathy.

The “minute-by-minute” style of modern journalism has turned every update into a potential scoop. But this speed-based reporting has blurred the line between news and noise. What once required confirmation from official sources now depends on trending keywords and viral posts. In the process, even established outlets risk their credibility by amplifying falsehoods under the guise of urgency.

The curious case of Dharmendra’s fake death is therefore not just about one actor, it’s a reflection of how newsrooms have evolved in the digital era. The audience too plays a role, often forwarding or reposting stories without pausing to verify them. This collective negligence has created an ecosystem where misinformation thrives and outrage becomes a substitute for truth.

In the end, Hema Malini’s firm response stood in stark contrast to the chaos that surrounded the incident. Her words served as a reminder that in the pursuit of “being first,” journalism has forgotten the dignity of being right. For an actor like Dharmendra, who has entertained generations, the least the media owes him, and others like him, is the courtesy of truth.

Vantage Media Buys U.S Rights to The Calling Watch

by jummy84 November 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Vantage Media has acquired US rights to “The Calling Witch” from Storyboard Media. The deal was announced at this year’s American Film Market.

Directed by Mark Wilson and penned by Chris Rett, the film centers around a sinister figure from a bestselling scary story for kids who lures children into the woods so she can devour them. When the story’s author suddenly dies, the witch seems to leap off the pages of the book and into the real world, targeting the author’s children. Alone in their remote family home, the siblings must fight to survive — and uncover the dark truth behind the legend their mother created.

It was produced by Retts, Wilson, Jesse Bontreger and Alex Swickard.

The deal was negotiated by Jessica Russo, COO of Vantage Media, and Elisabeth Costa de Beauregard Segel, President of Storyboard Media, on behalf of the filmmakers.

“’The Calling Witch’ is a chilling homage to classic folklore and ghost stories passed down through generations — tales like La Llorona that warned of spirits luring the innocent,” said Russo. “This film embraces that timeless atmosphere steeped in mystery and unease. It builds tension through mood, performance, and story, delivering a truly unsettling experience that will haunt audiences long after the credits roll.”

“We’re thrilled to partner again with VMI/Vantage following our first collaboration on the Vince Vaughn, Clark Duke & Liam Hemsworth starrer ‘Arkansas’ in 2020,” added Costa de Beauregard Segel. “Given their proven success with genre films, including ‘Popeye the Slayer Man,’ we’re confident The Calling Witch will be another strong success on their slate.

Vantage Media plans to release “The Calling Witch” in Q1 2026.

Esha Deol and Hema Malini took to their social media accounts to clarify the rumours surrounding the death of veteran actor Dharmendra. Esha stated that he is “stable and recovering.” She explicitly dismissed reports suggesting otherwise.

Hema Malini, Esha Deol Refute Dharmendra’s Death Reports

In her post, Esha wrote, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to respect our family’s privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”

Her mother, Hema Malini, also addressed the false claims via her X (formerly Twitter) handle. She expressed her frustration, saying, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is on the mend? This is extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and their need for privacy.”

In recent days, there has been a flurry of reports and rumours about Dharmendra’s health. The actor was hospitalised on November 1 after experiencing breathlessness. Initial reports claimed he was moved to the ICU and was on life support, causing concern among fans and followers. However, Sunny Deol’s team later clarified the situation, stating, “Mr. Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further updates will be shared as available. We request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy.”

On the professional front, Dharmendra’s most recent appearance was in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023), where his heartfelt performance as Kanwal Lund alongside Shabana Azmi received widespread acclaim. He will next be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis and Arbaaz Khan’s Maine Pyaar Kiya Phir Se — both projects representing exciting new milestones in the legendary actor’s distinguished career.

Sex assault charge against ‘Trailer Park Boys’ Bubbles actor ‘won’t be tried in the media’: lawyer

by jummy84 November 11, 2025
written by jummy84

The lawyer representing Mike Smith, the actor who plays Bubbles in the Trailer Park Boys, says a sexual assault charge against his client “won’t be tried in the media.”

“Well, what I’m going to say is, this is an allegation at this point. It hasn’t been proven. It’ll be tried in the court, it won’t be tried in the media,” said lawyer Stan MacDonald at Halifax Provincial Court.

“In the meantime, we ask that the privacy of everyone involved be respected. So that’s all I want to say today. Thank you.”

MacDonald appeared on Smith’s behalf Monday.

Smith has been charged with sexual assault in connection to an alleged incident that court records say took place on Dec. 30, 2017. Court documents indicate Smith was charged by Halifax Regional Police on Oct. 2.

“It is actually quite common for charges of sexual violence to come out later on into years following the alleged incident,” said Crown attorney Nicole Ford, who confirmed to reporters there is one female complainant in this case.

“That’s not uncommon, we do see that regularly and that’s why there’s no limitation for sexual violence.”

News of Smith’s charge has made headlines internationally and in entertainment outlets, with coverage on TMZ, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and BBC.

“Every person, no matter of their public status or their public personality or anything to do with their public nature or profile, doesn’t get treated any differently than any other individual,” said Ford.

“We at the PPS (Public Prosecution Service) take every file very seriously. We evaluate every file the same way for each individual person and we maintain our integrity of the investigation separate and we do not provide any type of special treatment to anyone based on their public profile.”

The matter is being transferred to Dartmouth Provincial Court, and Smith’s next court date is set for Dec. 3.

The Crown was granted a publication ban on any information that could identify the alleged victim.

Court documents show that Smith has been ordered not to communicate with or visit the workplace, home or school of the alleged victim. The documents do not include details about the allegation.

This is not the first time Smith has faced charges before. In April 2016, Smith faced a battery charge in Los Angeles for an incident at a Hollywood hotel involving a woman.

The misdemeanor domestic battery charge was dropped a month later.

The Trailer Park Boys, a TV sitcom series that follows a group of ex-convicts living in Nova Scotia and their misadventures, including petty crimes, first aired in 2001.

Trailer Park Boys announced in August they had completed filming for the 10-episode Season 13, which will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the series’ start.

An emailed statement from Trailer Park Boys Incorporated says they are aware of the allegation and take such matters seriously, and Smith has stepped away from his role as managing director.

“We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved. Out of respect for the legal process, we will not comment further on the case.”

Social Media Reacts To Latest Face Tattoos & Hair

by jummy84 November 8, 2025

Blueface took to social media to show off his fresh retwist, but it wasn’t the hair that caught everyone’s attention. With the close-up video, fans couldn’t help but notice the Cali rapper’s face tattoos.

BlueFace Shows Off His New Hairstyle

Blueface has been up and down the timeline ever since his release from jail. This weekend, the ‘Thotiana’ rapper took to his Instagram Story to showcase his latest hairstyle, offering fans a close-up of his fresh retwist. In the video, he even joked that he looked like the “Black girl from Jimmy Neutron.”

However, when The Shade Room Teens reposted the clip as a “Hair Dos & Don’ts,” the comments section went left. Social media users could only focus on one thing- business logos tattooed across his face. From Walgreens to Chase to Major League Baseball, folks joked that Blueface is walking around like a “human billboard.”

Social Media Reacts

The comments were quick, funny, and somewhat brutal. Here’s what users had to say:

Instagram user @icyyroger wrote, “I’m just curious on who made him get tattoos of a Chase logo, a Walgreens logo, and the MLB logo”

Another Instagram user @_iamprettymarie wrote, “Is that a recycling ♻️ sign on his forehead 😩”

While Instagram user @fwmirah wrote, “Idkkk man he still kinda cute”

Instagram user @divinepressure__ wrote, “Whyyy would he freaking do this to his face 🙄”

Another Instagram user @bewaresheavirgo wrote, “I hate he did this to his face it oissed me off everytime”

While Instagram user @bijancarrie wrote, “a walking billboard literally”

Instagram user @yafavv.Angel wrote, “Walgreens in the middle of his forehead is crazy 😂😂”

Another Instagram user @sweetcarolinagirl1 wrote, “What y’all see in him?”

While Instagram user @ _.Renea._412 wrote, “The post should states, ‘Faces Dos and Donts’ and not ‘Hair Dos and Donts’”

More Timeline Shenanigans From BlueFace This Week

One thing about Blueface, he’s gonna stay in the headlines. Just days before the hairstyle reveal, a clip of him getting cozy with Hazel E in the club made its rounds online.

And if that wasn’t enough, his latest tweet spree had the internet talking. Blueface called out Jaidyn Alexis, the mother of his first two kids, claiming she didn’t hold him down while he was locked up. Jaidyn clapped back in with facts and a little shade, letting it be known she was handling business on the outside, paying rent, car notes, and taking care of her kids.

In a shady tweet, she wrote, “Sorry u couldn’t get your M&Ms, I was buying Happy Meals 😂”
