‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to Return Tuesday Night as Suspension Ends

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

So “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” being suspended “indefinitely” really meant only preempting three airings in the end.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” will return Tuesday night, September 23, The Walt Disney Company announced in a statement acquired by IndieWire Monday afternoon.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” The Walt Disney Company’s statement reads. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.  We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Disney's ABC announced Wednesday that it was pulling "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off the air "indefinitely" following comments host Jimmy Kimmel made about Charlie Kirk.

On Wednesday September 17, ABC announced that they were suspending the show “indefinitely” following a joke that Kimmel made on air that many felt was insensitive and inflammatory in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. He said that “We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it.” Many felt that this remark implied the killer was MAGA, which evidence does not suggest is the case, though it is a fact that he comes from a conservative family of registered Republicans who did vote for Donald Trump.

IndieWire noted in the aftermath that Disney harmed its own business interests by capitulating to Trump. Kimmel was a serious investment of years and tens (if not hundreds) of millions of dollars. Someone who was a face of the brand, hosted “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” as well as his late night show, and had even hosted the Oscars for ABC four times. However, Disney also does need the Trump Department of Justice’s approval to go ahead with an acquisition of sports streamer Fubo as well as merging ESPN and The NFL Network.

The suspension had prompted days of discussion about the status of free speech in America and with serious criticism lodged from even conservative Republican senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul against the Trump administration for its coercive tactics in pressuring Kimmel off the air. Earlier in the day that Kimmel was suspended, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr went on a podcast and threatened that ABC could “do this the easy way or the hard way” in terms of getting Kimmel, a vocal Trump critic, off the air.

Kimmel’s suspension resulted in protests by free speech advocates in front of his Hollywood studio and an ACLU letter decrying his removal signed by 400 celebrities. Perhaps in a sign of ABC’s thaw regarding the suspension, the hosts of “The View” discussed Kimmel’s removal for the first-time on-air today, with Whoopi Goldberg suggesting that their previous silence had been out of respect for Kimmel to make a statement first.

Local affiliate companies Nexstar and Sinclair had previously stated that they would no longer air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” — which in the case of Nexstar was thought to be a performative act of currying favor with the Trump DOJ because Nexstar wants to merge with fellow affiliate company Tegna. Sinclair has long had a conservative reputation, but their stated aim of airing a tribute show to Charlie Kirk in lieu of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” did not come to pass, with their affiliates airing “Celebrity Family Feud,” like most ABC affiliates, in the timeslot instead.

What Nexstar and Sinclair will do now that ABC has announced Kimmel will return is unclear.

Kimmel’s suspension amounts to only three episodes of his show being pulled: His September 17 and 18 installments (Friday September 19 would have been a repeat), and the episode that would have aired Monday September 22.

‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Hollywood Rally Urges Disney Don’t Bow to Trump

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Just an hour before ABC made the announcement that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would return to the airwaves on Tuesday, a group of politicians and Hollywood guild leaders held a press conference and rally in front of the show’s Hollywood studio to urge Disney to bring the show back.

“Trump’s allies think the First Amendment comes with an asterisk,” said Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Calif. District 30). “They think that it means it gets free speech as long as Donald Trump likes it. But he does not get to silence dissent. He does not get to tell the American people what to say or what they can and cannot listen to… This is not just about a late night show. It’s about jobs and it’s about our rights as Americans. How the FCC’s job is to protect Americans, not the President’s ego. And I would remind every corporation in America and that many of their business models cannot survive in a world where the government gets to tell them what to say.”

Friedman pulled out a large copy of the First Amendment while adding, “You do not get to cancel the United States Constitution, not today, not tomorrow, not on our watch.”

The press conference did not go off without a hitch; a Trump supporter with a microphone loudspeaker attempted to drown out the event; that’s when attendees shouted back “Free speech!” Later, a low flying Fox 11/KTTV helicopter, which was getting video of the event, also drowned out some of the speakers.

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif. District 32) attempted to point out that the far-right Charlie Kirk has now been lauded as a free speech absolutist — which is why, in his mind, muzzling Kimmel was hypocritical.

“This mafia administration is so bold that they do the language of the mafia in plain sight,” he said. “What this administration is doing, what Brendan Carr is to undermine the words of Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk said you should be allowed to say outrageous things. There is rogue speech, there is evil speech, and it is all protected by the First Amendment. Jimmy Kimmel did not contradict the words of Charlie Kirk. Donald Trump did. His FCC.”

Sherman than said that he personally, as a citizen, planned to boycott and businesses that advertised on ABC at 11:35 p.m. if Kimmel was not brought back. He also said if Kimmel returned, he would support those advertisers — which is presumably what he will now do.

“The First Amendment deals with what we do as a government, and the government should be concerned, but we are also private citizens,” he said. “And I, for one, will be looking at who’s advertising on ABC from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. And speaking just for my own family, if we see Jimmy Kimmel, we’re going to watch those advertisers. And if we see alternative programming, we will be boycotting those who buy the time.”

Rep. Judy Chu (D-Calif. District 32), co-chairs the Congressional Creative Rights Caucus, warned that President Trump has been demanding Kimmel’s scalp for some time. “First, Trump wrote, more than two months ago that Jimmy Kimmel’s show should be canceled. Then last week, Trump’s FCC chair said that companies should take action on Kimmel, even saying that they can ‘either do it the easy way or the hard way.’ And the companies got the message.”

She then criticized Nexstar: “ABC’s largest distributor, which needs the FCC’s approval for a $6.2 billion merger, immediately followed his orders and preempted the show, and ABC took it off the air indefinitely. So this was not about comments that a comedian made about Charlie Kirk. This is about a president leveraging the power of the federal government to silence his critics, a plan he’s been open about four months. Now he’s saying that the FCC should go further and cancel the broadcasting licenses of networks that criticize him. Well, are we going to be bullied like that? Are we going to be silenced? Every single one of us has a responsibility to stand up for our constitutional rights that are under attack. And this doesn’t just fall on the shoulders of workers. We need corporations and their executives to start standing up to this coercion.”

Rep. Ted Lieu added that this is not just about Kimmel. “Last year, the Supreme Court ruled a unanimous decision that government officials cannot force third parties to punish or suppress the views that government officials is fake, and my message to ABC is very simple: You do not kneel,” he said. “What happens when you kneel? The bully comes after you again, and now the FCC chair Brendan Carr is threatening ABC because he doesn’t like the statements made by ‘The View.’ When is this going to stop? ABC, you have a choice. You can continue to be bowing or you can stand up for yourself, stand up for the First Amendment and invoke the protection of the First Amendment, an amendment that generations of Americans have given their blood, sweat and tears to defend. We will not kneel. We will continue to be true.”

And to prove his point, Lieu said: “I get to say things like Donald Trump is partly on Epstein files because he is all over the Epstein files.”

Other speakers at the event included Writers Guild of America-West president Meredith Stiehm, in addition to members of SAG-AFTRA, Teamsters, IATSE and other unions.

Oasis Live ’25 fan store to reopen in London this week ahead of Wembley return

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Oasis‘ official Live ’25 fan store is reopening in London this week, ahead of the band’s return to Wembley Stadium. Find all the details below.

The Britpop group will play two more concerts in the capital this Saturday and Sunday (September 27, 28). It’ll follow an initial five-night run at Wembley over the summer as part of their UK and Ireland comeback tour.

An official pop-up store was launched on Carnaby Street to mark Oasis’ first reunion gigs in London. Now, it has been confirmed that a new shop is opening under the Piccadilly Lights near Regent Street.

Fans will be able to visit the pop-up between 10am and 10pm BST this Friday to Saturday (September 26, 27), and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday (28). Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-booking a slot is advised – you can do so here.

Customers will be able to purchase a range of official Live ’25 clothing – including T-shirts, hoodies, jackets – as well as tour edition coloured vinyl formats of the Oasis back catalogue.

The store is also set to stock items from the Adidas Originals x Oasis collaborations and more.

Oasis wrapped up the North American leg of their Live ’25 tour with two massive shows in Mexico City earlier this month. Their pair of Wembley gigs this week will be followed by further dates in South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan.

The band have released some official live versions of songs from different cities on the trek. So far we’ve had ‘Slide Away’ from Cardiff, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ from Manchester, ‘Little By Little’ from London, ‘Bring It On Down’ from Edinburgh and ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin.

In other news, Liam and Noel Gallagher have been gifted personalised football shirts from Polish club Lech Poznań – a nod to the viral moment at the start of ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ in their Live ’25 set.

When sharing his thanks for the gesture, Noel said that fans doing ‘the Poznań’ had been “THE highlight” of Oasis‘ reunion shows, with gig-goers from “all over the world” getting involved.

The likes of Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish and Dave Grohl were spotted at Oasis’ recent gigs in Los Angeles, as was Melissa Lim – the woman who inspired the band’s 1995 track ‘Talk Tonight’.

Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher has paid tribute to the “great Mancunian” Ricky Hatton, revealing that he had been texting him just days before his death.

Where Does Dwayne Johnson Live? Inside The Rock’s Virginia Farmhouse – Hollywood Life

Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a “The Rock” in the ring, has built a brand-new reputation as a movie star over the years. But now that he’s stepping back into the ring for his role in The Smashing Machine, Dwayne appeared on a September 2025 CBS News Sunday Morning interview, where he brought viewers to his sprawling Virginia farmhouse and property.

Below, learn more about Dwayne’s peaceful home.

Where Does Dwayne Johnson Live?

Technically, Dwayne lives in multiple places, but he spends most of his time at his rural home near Gordonsville, Virginia.

During his September 2025 interview, the Jungle Cruise actor took CBS News’ Tracy Smith to his pond, where he fishes alone.

“Just me, and I’ll bring the girls here, and it’s magical,” Dwayne said, referring to his daughters, Simone, Jasmine and Tiana. “Just the way the property is set up, I never have to see anybody. And I know it sounds crazy, and maybe kind of weird, but that’s fun for me.”

Dwayne shares Simone with ex-wife Dany Garcia and Jasmine and Tiana with his wife, Lauren Hashian.

How Many Homes Does Dwayne Johnson Have?

According to multiple outlets, Dwayne has owned homes in multiple states, including California, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.

As seen in his CBS News interview with Tracy, Dwayne showed off the picturesque property he has in Virginia. By helping the CBS personality go fishing, cameras showed audiences how massive and stunning his rural home is.

However, this wasn’t the first time that the Game Plan actor has discussed his life in the Southern state. In 2017, Dwayne revealed via Instagram that he was building a gym at his house.

“When I come back home to my farm in Virginia to recharge, I have to go to a public gym to train (I’m building a gym on my property),” he captioned his post at the time, “and try to get in and out as fast as possible without drawing a crowd.”

Mark Ruffalo Says Disney Stock Will Drop if Jimmy Kimmel Live! Cancels

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

Mark Ruffalo is speaking out again on Jimmy Kimmel‘s suspension by ABC.

Ruffalo took to Threads on Saturday to re-share a post that alleged Disney‘s stock price has dropped seven percent following the late night talk show being suspended earlier this week.

“It’s going to go down a lot further if they cancel his show,” Ruffalo wrote. “Disney does not want to be the ones that broke America.”

On Wednesday, ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! was preempted indefinitely following the host’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s murder and the shooting suspect. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during his opening monologue on Monday night.

Following the suspension, Ruffalo previously spoke out about Kimmel in a No Kings online event. “My industry doesn’t really understand what’s happening right now, but what they do understand is our freedom of speech is being attacked,” he said. Several other Marvel stars like Pedro Pascal, Marisa Tomei, and Tatiana Maslany also spoke out after the news broke.

The four-time Oscar-nominated actor has famously appeared as Bruce Banner/the Hulk in many of Disney’s MCU projects, such as The Avengers films, Thor: Ragnarok, She Hulk and more. Next up, he’s set to be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will hit theaters July 31, 2026.

Earlier this month, Ruffalo spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about reprising his role and how he’s looking forward to working with Jon Bernthal, who plays the Punisher. “If I’m doing that — which the rumors are that I am, once I get a script, I’ll know it’s real — but I love him and we have a common friend in Lena Dunham, believe it or not, (laughs) who just adores him,” Ruffalo said. “I can’t wait to work with him, he’s so funny and he’s such a great actor. He plays that character like nobody else. I’m really excited to meet him, I’ve never met him!”

Five points from their first eight games has Shrewsbury in the relegation zone in what looks set to be another season of struggle for the Shropshire club.

Live Nation Stock Falls on FTC Lawsuit, Sphere Enjoys 5th ‘Oz’ Bump

by jummy84 September 20, 2025
written by jummy84

As U.S. stocks soared following a U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cut, Live Nation shares fell in the wake of a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over what the agency called “years of systemic unfair and deceptive practices.” The high-flying stock dropped 5.8% to $163.72, lowering its year-to-date gain to 65.7%.

Live Nation’s stock dropped 2.5% after Bloomberg reported Monday (Sept. 15) that the FTC was investigating the company. Following news of the lawsuit, the company’s share price fell 2.8% on Thursday (Sept. 18) and dropped another 0.6% on Friday (Sept. 19). Separately, Rothschild & Co. Redburn downgraded Live Nation to a “neutral” rating and increased its price target to $170 from $144. Redburn analysts expect margin expansion to slow from 2026.

A dip of such a magnitude isn’t rare for Live Nation, and the stock has proven to be resilient. In 2019, Live Nation fell 7.3% after news broke that the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust division was scrutinizing the company, but the share price recovered in just four days. In 2021, the company’s shares fell more than 22% in the weeks after 10 people died as a result of a crowd crush at the Astroworld festival in Houston, but the stock recaptured nearly all of that loss within three months and now trades 28% above pre-Astroworld levels.

Music stocks rode the market’s upswing as the 19-company Billboard Global Music Index (BGMI) gained 1.3% to 3,101.37, ending the week just off its all-time high of 3,117.20 set during the week ended June 30, 2025. Winners and losers were equally matched at nine apiece, and one company, Deezer, was unchanged.

U.S indexes finished the week at record highs following the Federal Reserve’s decision on Wednesday (Sept. 17) to cut the federal funds rate, the benchmark for short-term interest rates, by a quarter of a percentage point. The Nasdaq climbed 2.2% to a record 22,631.48, while the S&P 500 rose 1.2% to 6,664.36, also a record close. In the U.K., the FTSE 100 dropped 0.7% to 9,216.67. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index rose 1.5% to 3,445.24. China’s Shanghai Composite Index sank 1.3% to 3,820.09.

Sphere Entertainment Co. posted its fifth successive weekly gain, rising 2.4% to $59.71 and giving the company a 41.4% gain in 2025. Investors have reacted positively to the success of Sphere’s AI-assisted revamped The Wizard of Oz. As of Monday, Sphere had sold more than 500,000 tickets for The Wizard of Oz, generating over $65 million in sales.

Sphere lights up with an advertisement for "The Wizard of Oz at Sphere" ahead of the show's premiere on August 28, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Music’s greatest gainer of the week was iHeartMedia, which jumped 17.0% to $3.03 despite no major announcement or news report regarding the company. iHeartMedia shares have jumped 89.4% in the last six weeks and are up 81.4% year to date.

In the K-pop world, SM Entertainment was up 6.8% this week, bringing its year-to-date gain to 110.7%. JYP Entertainment increased 1.6% while HYBE fell 0.9% after its chairman, Bang Si-hyuk, was questioned by South Korean authorities over allegations that he deceived early HYBE investors into selling their stakes ahead of the company’s IPO. Bang has denied that he provided false information to the investors.

Spotify, the BGMI’s single largest component with a market capitalization of $150.4 billion, rose 5.5% to $734.92. That brought the stock back to the level reached on Aug. 15 before the price stumbled in three of the next four weeks. The stock went as high as $745.00 on Thursday, bringing Spotify within 5.1% of its all-time high of $785.00 set on June 27.

Universal Music Group and CTS Eventim both fell 4.4%. Chinese music streamer Netease Cloud Music sank 6.7%. U.S. music streamer LiveOne was the week’s biggest loser, falling 10.5% to $0.51.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Ken Vasoli of the Starting Line

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Name  Ken Vasoli of the Starting Line

Best known for  Lifer song and dance man. Simultaneous professional bass player/semi-professional singer. Bleached hair 1999-2003.

Current city  Philadelphia, PA.

Really want to be in  I wouldn’t mind retiring in El Pescadero, Mexico. I would enjoy beach life with the family. Great eating and surfing, perhaps improving my skills at the latter.

Excited about  First baby due in November! First TSL album in 18 years coming out in September, Eternal Youth on our own label Lineage Recordings. Our first headline tour in 17 years is pounding the pavement in a few weeks as I write this. Big year!

Bob Dylan in 1965. (Credit: Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images)

My current music collection has a lot of  My record shelves hold quite a large selection of instrumental albums. Anywhere from instrumental hip-hop, electronic, jazz to experimental, Italian soundtracks, library records, and everywhere in between. I’m not sure exactly why I gravitate to these kinds of albums, but I do enjoy the aspect of no meanings being assigned to the songs through traditional lyric delivery. It allows the music to tell its own story and control the momentum solely with mood and texture. Plenty of unexpected gems to be found in this territory of record digging.

And a little bit of  I keep a healthy supply of soul records in house. I adore Curtis Mayfield and Barry White, both amazing songwriters and impressive producers. I collected quite a few of their records over the years, especially ‘70s Barry. They are easy LPs to find and consistently hit VERY hard.

Preferred format  Vinyl is my preferred method of listening. I love the ritual of putting on a record and cooking or simply relaxing in the living room as it spins, it’s hard to beat that experience. If I’m driving, running, or walking, streaming has forced my hand, but I’m not proud of it.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

Clinging to a Scheme, The Radio Dept.

The Radio Dept. and this record in particular delivers a flawless and delightful example of understated melodic brilliance. There is nothing to skip here, it’s a shimmering gem front to back. The elevator pitch would be to call this a lo-fi pop record, but that description really undersells the delicate perfection in TRD’s songwriting. The music on Clinging to a Scheme is minimal but measured so perfectly. The drums are all programmed or looped on relatively rudimentary sounding equipment, while the clean guitars, warm keys, and calming vocals float and fold into the sequences with tact and humble nuance. The lyrics are flawlessly penned with lines that read both sensitive and profoundly bold.  As a bass player, I LOVE how much the lines play into the upper register of the neck and also get doused in a slick spring reverb from time to time. I play this album and am able to instantly conjure a memory of riding my bike on a hot day in 2010, bombing down an empty hill feeling the wind cool my skin and pure bliss while these songs filled my ears. A perfect moment.

Funny story! A few years after I fell in love with this album I played some festival shows in Australia alongside another favorite band of mine, Millencolin. One night at a fest after-party, I saw the singer of Millencolin standing next right outside the bar. I felt bold and introduced myself as a fellow musician and longtime fan. We engaged in small chit chat. I knew that Millencolin were from Sweden, so I had excitedly asked him if he listened to the Radio Dept. (also from Sweden and have been at it for quite some time). Do you know what he said??? “…No.” That conversation pretty much wrapped up then and there.

Some Kind of Cadwallader, Algernon Cadwallader

I’m realizing through this exercise that I achieve different benefits from specific records that I favor in the collection, this one in particular delivers a sure shot, supercharged dose of happiness to my dopamine receptors. Algernon has always impressed me since the get-go. Full disclosure, they happen to be friends and from the neighborhood, but that plays zero part in securing this coveted No. 2 spot. Just a solid bonus! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Algernon Cadwallader perform everywhere from Gazebos and VFWs to the finest Philadelphia stages over the years. They have always struck me as one of the most uniquely original modern punk bands of my generation, not just locally but globally! These guys are undisputed trendsetters. I hear their influence in countless bands who came to follow. They nail this signature combination of glass sharp dueling guitar tones and heady rhythms juxtaposing one of the most on-point raw, guttural vocalists in the game who also manages to display impressive pitch control. Perhaps the most naturally “cool” bands I’ve come to know and love. They’ve never taken themselves too seriously or compromised their style to serve mainstream audiences. Always retaining their magic and integrity every step the way.

This debut album, Some Kind Of Cadwallader, felt like a classic punk piece to my ears upon first listen. Equal parts airtight performances with just enough scrappy rambunctious energy equating to a brilliant sonic roistering. The moment I heard the gang hook erupt “Oh man, it’s taken me over!” on Track 2, I knew this LP would be a mainstay of the music collection. Big fun-in-the-sun, skateboards-by-the-beach kind of music. I only recently started looking up the words I was previously unable to decipher by ear and I can now confirm the lyrical wit is by all accounts unmatched!

A beautiful coincidence. Early into dating my now wife a decade ago I visited her apartment in her home state of Texas. I was thumbing through her record collection and was joyously surprised to discover that she also owns and loves this Algernon record. Now we have two copies in our home! Kismet!

You Fail Me, Converge

This is the unequivocally heaviest record I’ve ever heard by my absolute favorite heavy band. Listening to Converge music is not typically a shared experience for me. This is the only album of my five picks that I’m ashamed to say I don’t own on vinyl, for the sole reason I fear I would likely disrupt my loved ones in the household if I amplified this pummeling masterpiece through the living room speakers. (My wife has affectionately referred to this as “dude music.”) Therefore this is a bigtime headphones and solo car ride album for this dude. I am a runner. Not a fast one, but I do run often. I’ve timed myself repeatedly and I can scientifically say with confidence NO ONE MAKES ME RUN FASTER than Converge (by a huge margin!). This album is the perfect example of brutal sonic violence with unmatched rhythmic intelligence and relentless intensity within the punk universe.

The sonics on You Fail Me are downright blistering! I purposely chose the “Redux” version for the newer and improved Kurt Ballou mix. The sound has a deep low-end gut punch, the finest bass guitar growling tone I could ever dream up,  and drums that BITE like a goddamn grizzly bear. Some other great albums have a one-two punch with exciting first tracks, right? Well, this baby has six devastating haymakers lined up immediately after the “First Light” bending guitar intro. No other music energizes me quite like Converge does, especially on this album. For that alone, they deserve a clinched spot in this hypothetical eternal rotation.

Shades of Blue: Madlib Invades Blue Note, Madlib

This monumental album is a perfectly executed culmination of several personal favorite aspects of the music world, namely the union of top shelf instrumental hip-hop production and the legendary Blue Note Records jazz archives. It is of my own passionate opinion that Otis Jackson Jr., a.k.a. Madlib, is the greatest living producer this world has to offer. There is something in the way his pocket always sits so flawlessly in a collage of supremely chosen instruments and textures weaving together with such charismatic style. I think this album best showcases the man’s extraordinary talents as an audio visionary with a knack for sample-based production far ahead of his time. I marvel at the achievement of how he blurs the line between sampled and recorded material so seamlessly. I house plenty of jazz as well as instrumental hip-hop records in the collection, since neither of these genres are represented on the rest of this list, Shades of Blue is an absolute no-brainer to keep on deck forevermore.

Selected Ambient Works Volume II, Aphex Twin

I recently had dinner catching up with a longtime friend and electronic music collaborator, and he joked that the older and deeper one gets in this genre of music [it] always leads to collecting ambient albums and cassette tapes, and I am admittedly guilty of both right on schedule. Coincidentally he was also revisiting SAW VII regularly in his recent listening rotation. This brought up an intriguing question: asking each other what it is that makes this record so special?  My friend’s response was something astute along the lines of “it’s just so innocent.” That really stuck with me and I couldn’t agree more.

To know Richard D. James and his body of work, is to understand that his style of sound is fearlessly ever-changing while existing in his own vast (yet cohesive) universe. He is perhaps best known for his work on more drum-and-bass-leaning records. This album is essentially and famously drum-less, practically wordless while revealing from its core a sprawling sonic bed of transcendently stretched and drenched loops blossoming with marvelous grace. The music itself feels like an effortless and purely guilt-free expression of art. There was speculation between my friend and I if some of these pieces were initially unfinished starts intended for more elaborate final compositions. Regardless of whether or not that theory holds water, Richard made a masterfully prophetic decision to exercise such an elevated level of restraint by keeping the field of sound so confidently minimal. The experience of listening to this record is unlike any others in my collection, it emits a potently hypnotic transmission. I find it can transform the room in a drastic way. As boneless and wordless as this album is, it somehow feels CATCHY in a way that my brain gravitates towards before any pop song melody I’ve heard in my life. I feel as though could listen to that same “#21” arrangement on loop for an eternity, and have caught myself humming that tune in my head with no accompaniment.

I nabbed the 4-LP Expanded Edition of this album earlier this year and the records have rarely left the turntable. That’s the other nice thing about this album, the music is sprawling, plentiful and never rushed. It’s an unforgettable floating trip across a divinely serene atmosphere. One of my favorite parts of the 2024 physical record is a message included in the “Rhubarb Notes” written by Richard. It reads: “My mum gave me so much love, dedicated her life to me, filled me to the brim with confidence, and somehow managed to be a nurse at the same time. That love she gave can now be felt by millions all over the world and beyond through this music. Thanks for everything Lorna James!” As a guy who lost his mom four years ago, these words hit me with a weighty significance and drew my relationship to this music even closer. What a magnificent triumph to honor the irreplaceable love of a mother. Bravo, Richard.

From Launchpad Winner to Industry Standard: Erleah Named Official AI Partner for Event Tech Live in Landmark Four-Year Partnership (2025-2028)

Visual Hive, the London-based event intelligence company, today announces a landmark multi-year partnership that establishes its solution, Erleah, as the Official AI Event Assistant and Intelligence Partner for Event Tech Live (ETL) London for 2025, 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The agreement, which kicks off with Erleah powering the upcoming 2025 event, represents one of the most significant strategic commitments in the event technology space. It solidifies Erleah’s evolution from winning the Gold Prize at the 2024 ETL Launchpad competition to becoming the foundational intelligence engine for the industry’s most important technology showcase.

“A one-year partnership proves a concept. A four-year commitment defines the future standard,” said Bogdan Maran, Founder of Visual Hive. “This isn’t just a homecoming; it’s a declaration that the future of events is built on strategic intelligence. Over the next four years with ETL, we will demonstrate the power of a compounding data asset, how an event can grow smarter, more personalized, and more profitable with every single interaction, year after year.”

As the official partner, Erleah will unify the ETL experience across five key touchpoints: Web, Email, WhatsApp, SMS, and the official Event App.

This multi-channel intelligence will deliver:

  • Truly Personalised Journeys: Providing dynamic, real-time recommendations for sessions, content, and connections.
  • Qualified Exhibitor Connections: An intelligent matchmaking engine designed to create a pipeline of high-intent conversations and provable ROI.
  • A Compounding Intelligence Asset: Giving the ETL team a year-over-year strategic overview of audience trends, content performance, and emerging opportunities.

Adam Parry, co-founder of Event Tech Live, commented on the long-term partnership: “

“The entire purpose of our Launchpad competition is to identify and champion the single most promising innovator who will define the future of event tech. Erleah’s journey, from winning the Gold Prize in 2024 with a visionary concept to becoming our foundational partner today, is the ultimate proof of that mission in action.

Showcasing innovation for one year is easy. But betting on the future of our event for four years requires absolute confidence. We chose Erleah because they are not just an assistant; they are a strategic intelligence engine. Their vision for building a compounding data asset is exactly where the industry is heading, and we are proud to have them as the solution that will help us deliver a smarter, more valuable experience for years to come.”

This partnership signals a definitive shift in the industry, proving that the future of events isn’t just about managing logistics, but about owning and growing your event’s intelligence.

Attendees are invited to experience the future of events with Erleah live at Event Tech Live London 2025. To learn how Erleah can become your long-term growth partner, book a demo at erleah.com.
