TIFF Expands TV Lineup Ahead Of TIFF: The Market

by jummy84 October 15, 2025
written by jummy84

EXCLUSIVE: The Toronto International Film Festival is going deeper into TV and making Primetime bigger. The Festival has a TV section called Primetime and TIFF execs told Deadline they plan to increase the selection by 40% for 2026.

Appropriately, the news came out of MIPCOM, the Cannes TV market that’s running this week. The setting was fitting, as TIFF was on the ground meeting the TV industry ahead of next year’s launch of TIFF: The Market.

TIFF and Deadline hosted a networking reception with buyers and distributors and we caught up with the TIFF execs in town, Judy Lung VP, Strategy, Communications & Stakeholder Relations and Geoff Macnaughton, VP of Industry and Theatrical Programming.

Macnaughton told us that the Primetime section he oversees will expand by 40%, featuring approximately 14 series next year.

This year’s Primetime lineup had six world premieres including The Lowdown, which opened the section, Netflix’s Mae Martin series Wayward, Black Rabbit starring Jude Law and Jason Bateman, and Origin: The Story of the Basketball Africa League, which was the only documentary series.

Macnaughton told guests at the TIFF-Deadline reception that several of this year’s Primetime shows racked up deals after their TIFF showing. That’s an important point for the MIPCOM crowd, notably as TIFF readies the launch of its own market in 2026.

TIFF: The Market will span TV, film and next-generation content and is a notable new addition to the calendar. “This year, our 50th has been a really exciting opportunity to celebrate how far we’ve come, but also to look ahead and ignite our vision for the next 50 years and beyond,” Lung said. “This vision for the future is centered around a commitment to deepening TIFF’s support of the global entertainment business, including the launch of an official content market at the Festival next September.”

Macnaughton added: “We are always looking for series that are things we have never seen before, and that are going to surprise people, but also [projects] that are looking for distribution. And we’re leaning into this idea of designing a content market and building not only what we do in the film side of things, but also growing what we do on the series side, that’s really important to us.”

TIFF: The Market will run September 10 through 16. The venue is TBC, but as it comes together TIFF has assembled a committee of industry advisors including TV execs from BBC Studios and Blue Ant.

Stagecoach Festival 2026 Lineup Announced: Post Malone, Lainey Wilson, and More

by jummy84 September 25, 2025
written by jummy84

The 2026 lineup for the Stagecoach country music festival is here. Headlining the weekend are Texas country singer Cody Johnson, Louisana’s Lainey Wilson, and F-1 Trillion artist Post Malone. The California festival will also feature legacy acts like Counting Crows, Wynonna, Lyle Lovett, Journey, Third Eye Blind, Bush, the Wallflowers, Brooks & Dunn, and Hootie & the Blowfish, along with newcomers like BigXthaPlug, Bailey Zimmerman, Warren Zeiders, Teddy Swims, and Gavin Adcock, and artists who don’t necessarily specialize in country much, such as Noah Cyrus, Diplo, Pitbull, and Ludacris. See the full lineup in the poster below.

Stagecoach is producer Goldenvoice’s country complement to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The festivals share a venue—the Empire Polo Club, in Indio, California—and typically take place the same month. Coachella, in 2026, will run during the weekends of April 10-12 and April 17-19. Stagecoach takes place from April 24-26.

Gary Lineker’s new game show The Box confirms celebrity line-up

by jummy84 September 21, 2025

Sara Davies, Graeme Souness, Ellie Taylor, John Bercow, Shakira Khan, JB Gill, Ranvir Singh, Jenny Ryan, Danny Aarons, and Joey Essex were named as the first set of contestants on the broadcaster’s newest entertainment format.

It was confirmed in August that Lineker, who left Match of the Day and the BBC after more than two decades earlier this year, would front The Box, which has been described as a mix of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The show will see the celebrities enclosed in yellow boxes and transported to a mystery location, where they’ll face challenges – physical, mental, logical, and often funny – that they will have to navigate. The two worst-performing celebs will battle it out in The Duel at the end of every episode, with the loser eliminated.

Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies will feature in the series. BBC/Simon Pantling

“From my experience, the most successful teams are built on a mix of strengths and abilities, and that’s exactly what we’ve got with this line-up,” said Lineker, who beat Ant & Dec at the NTAs earlier this month. “I’m excited to be on the sideline with a front row seat to see all the action unfold!”

ITV’s director of entertainment, reality and daytime commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe, added: “We’re delighted to welcome this impressive line-up of celebrities to The Box. They will each bring a unique perspective and approach to the varying challenges they will face, and observing how they react will make for incredibly entertaining viewing for our audiences.”

The Box was first launched in Norway in January and will be produced by Twofour, which is part of ITV Studios.

Dan Adamson, chief content officer, Twofour, noted: “We are really excited to see how our brilliant cast rises to the unique challenge of The Box. Each of them brings different skills, strengths and smarts to the mix but who can step out of their yellow box and overcome the unknown to be crowned our winner?”

The Box is coming to ITV in 2026.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 51 Lineup: Sabrina Carpenter, Bad Bunny

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Saturday Night Live will hit the ground running with Season 51, scheduled to premiere in October. The follow-up to an elaborate 50th anniversary celebration, the latest season is set to kick off on October 4 with Bad Bunny returning to host, accompanied by Doja Cat as musical guest. The fun continues the following weekend with Amy Poehler and Role Model, followed by Sabrina Carpenter‘s double duty takeover as both host and musical guest.

Carpenter made her SNL debut last year on an episode hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal. She performed her hit single “Espresso,” then mashed up “Nonsense” and “Feather” from her 2022 album Emails I Can’t Send. Since then, she’s released two more monster pop records, Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend.

In February, Carpenter opened the SNL50 anniversary special with a duet of “Homeward Bound” with Paul Simon. That same night, the pop star guest-starred in a sketch that brought back Marcello Hernandez’s viral character Domingo and introduced his two brothers: Pedro Pascal’s Ronaldo and Bad Bunny’s Santiago.

Bad Bunny last hosted SNL in October 2023, when he filled the double duty slot with performances of “Un Preview” and “Monaco.” He returned as musical guest in May 2025 with “NUEVAYoL” and “Perfumito Nuevo” with RaiNao from his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. With Bad Bunny as host, Doja Cat readies her SNL debut. Known for her standout television performances, it’s surprising to see the rapper and singer reach this particular milestone so far into her career, but it comes just in time for her latest album Vie, out Sept. 26.

Trending Stories

Role Model will also make his performance debut on the Oct. 11 episode hosted by Poehler. His single “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” arrived earlier this year and has since become a career-defining record for the musician. Meanwhile, Poehler’s hosting slot is a grand homecoming. She last hosted in December 2015 with Tina Fey. Now, she’ll be helming the show solo for the first time in 15 years.

SNL lost a major slate of cast members in the lead-up to Season 51. Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker announced departures from the show in recent days. Maybe major pop stars and veteran comedians can fill the gap.

5 Takeaways From the 2026 Lineup

5 Takeaways From the 2026 Lineup

by jummy84 September 17, 2025
written by jummy84

Once upon a time, Coachella used to ring in a new year of festivals and live music by releasing its lineup in January. It arrived in this timeframe with such consistency that those first couple weeks of January were frustratingly slow for the festival’s devotees. But those days, apparently, are over. Following up on last year’s surprise November lineup drop, Coachella pushed the timeline up two months earlier and revealed its 2026 lineup on Monday, September 15th.

The extra early release suggests two things: that organizers would ideally like an even longer runway to sell tickets (not a bad idea), and they’re really confident in their 2026 lineup. When glancing at this upcoming year’s edition, it’s easy to see why. Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G will headline the festival as previously reported, anchoring Friday and Sunday night; Justin Bieber — perhaps the biggest name of the bunch, and the toughest to nail down — will take the reins on Saturday for his very first solo Coachella performance. Also, the Italian DJ and producer Anyma is back post-Sphere residency to debut his new show, Æden.

Get Coachella 2026 Tickets Here

Elsewhere on the lineup are sub-headlining performances from The xx, The Strokes, and Young Thug, plus Nine Inch Noize (Nine Inch Nails + Boys Noize), Turnstile, Disclosure, Iggy Pop, David Byrne, Interpol, Addison Rae, Dijon, Ethel Cain, Wet Leg, Laufey, BIGBANG, FKA twigs, DEVO, Moby, KATSEYE, Sombr, Alex G, and many more.

As festival lineups have been increasingly looking more and more random, it’s a bit challenging to assess the direction that big events like Coachella are taking. Last year’s lineup felt more millennial-coded than usual, and the same could be said about this year. At the same time, Coachella reprises the crucial strategy of nabbing as many ‘acts du jour’ as possible (see: sombr, Addison Rae, KATSEYE, Teddy Swims, and Laufey).

Read on for the five biggest takeaways from the Coachella 2026 lineup.

It All Depends on How You Feel About Justin Bieber

It was hardly 18 months ago when a still-burgeoning Sabrina Carpenter seized the main stage and casually debuted a little song called “espresso” at Coachella. Like her fellow Coachella 2024 breakout Chappell Roan, Carpenter’s rise has been stratospheric of late; she could have so easily taken the entirety of 2026 off following the success of Short ‘n Sweet, but instead she doubled down and put out a great new album, Man’s Best Friend. So, it was a no-brainer to get Carpenter back for next year’s Coachella. She’s at the peak of her powers, she’s got a whole lot of personality and charisma on stage, and her live vocals are excellent.

Karol G’s rise has been less ubiquitous but still undeniably big. The Colombian pop star performed a massively attended 2022 set (complete with a memorable celebration of Latin pop), became the first Latin artist to headline Lollapalooza in 2023, dropped her star-studded fifth album Tropicoqueta this summer, and recently headlined the halftime show for the São Paulo installment of the NFL’s International Series.

Then there’s Anyma, which… look, I’m sure his residency at the Sphere was visually spectacular. I can appreciate an artist who pays as much attention to the visual aspects of a live show as they do for the sonic aspects. But it’s hard to not see Anyma as the odd one out in this group of headliners. Is his music really worth such a prime slot? Not just his visuals, but the songs themselves? I imagine the SoCal electronic heads will have a lot more to say about his booking and performance than I do (though I also suspect that a huge portion of his audience are tech bros).

This brings us to the make or break headliner: Justin Bieber. 10 years ago, even with the rejuvenation he experienced with Purpose, it would have been unthinkable to book Bieber as a central headliner. A lot of the core Coachella crowd, who attended this festival in the first phase of its existence, might be deterred by the choice. But Swag, his latest album, has been a summer hit, and many of the fans who grew up with Bieber are engaging with him again out of nostalgia and because of his “It’s not clocking to you” persona.

Perhaps the album really has worked a miracle and altered the way general public see Bieber; as far as we see it, however, one rather nice album doesn’t really change the fact that his catalog is uneven and a lot of his recent music has been boring, worship-lite wife guy pop. Bieber being the ‘legacy’ superstar is a bit of a bold risk; he has never headlined one of the Big Five of US festivals, he’s scaled back on live shows significantly over the years, his public life has been slightly turbulent of late, and he’s a pretty unique get, all things considered.

At the same time, this is Justin Bieber we’re talking about, not Frank Ocean or Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift. He’s fine. Mid, even.

Coachella 2026 Lineup: Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, Karol G, the Strokes, and More

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

The 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup has been unveiled. Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G are heading to the desert next year as the festival’s headliners, topping the two-weekend bill in Indio, California, on April 10-12 and 17-19. Also slated to perform are Young Thug, the XX, Turnstile, David Byrne, FKA twigs, Addison Rae, Ethel Cain, and dozens more. See the festival poster below.

Rounding out the Coachella 2026 lineup are Alex G, PinkPantheress, Iggy Pop, Givēon, Little Simz, Devo, Blood Orange, Geese, Dijon, Wet Leg, Oklou, Black Flag, Disclosure, Sexyy Red, Katseye, Moby, Joyce Manor, Lykke Li, CMAT, Wednesday, Model/Actriz, Ceremony, Bedouin, Lambrini Girls, Fakemink, Jane Remover, Drain, and the Rapture. Plus, the bottom of the poster lists “The Bunker Debut of Radiohead Kid A Mnesia.” Passes go on sale this Friday, September 19 at 1 p.m. Eastern.

As rumored, Carpenter returns to the desert after making her debut in 2024, now promoted up the billing after the whirlwind success of her albums Short n’ Sweet and Man’s Best Friend. She is set to close out 2025 with a string of dates including residencies in New York and Los Angeles. She also has a smattering of South American festivals booked in the months leading up to Coachella.

This will be Bieber’s first-ever headlining set at Coachella. Although he’s been a guest performer joining other artists onstage—Ariana Grande, Daniel Caesar, Chance the Rapper, and Tems and Wizkid—four times at the festival, Bieber has never actually performed at Coachella as a billed artist before. This set will also mark his first live concert in over three years, with his last show taking place in September 2022. Bieber is coming armed with his guest-heavy records Swag and Swag II, both of which came out this year.

This is also Karol G’s second stop at the Indio festival, following the Colombian superstar’s 2022 debut appearance. Her latest album, Tropicoqueta, came out last June, and, as things stand, the Coachella set is scheduled to be her first full live show behind the album. In early September, she performed at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, as the halftime act at the NFL game between Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Last year’s Coachella headliners were Lady Gaga, Green Day, Post Malone, and Travis Scott, with Green Day and Scott both squeezed in on the Saturday night. Others on that bill included Charli XCX—who brought out Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Troye Sivan—and Clairo, who got a Bernie Sanders introduction, but not the visa-beleaguered FKA twigs or Massive Attack, who turned down a slot after lamenting the festival’s environmental impact.

MTV VMAs 2025 Performers List: See the Full Lineup Here

by jummy84 September 7, 2025

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards take place tonight (September 7) at Long Island’s UBS Arena. LL Cool J will host the show—a gig he previously shared with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow in 2022. Set to take the stage, too, are Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Sabrina Carpenter, and more. Check out the full list of performers for the 2025 MTV VMAs below.

The VMAs broadcast begins at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on the CBS Television Network. The show will also simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+ in the United States. The VMAs pre-show (hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney) airs live, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, on MTV, BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1.

Follow along with all of Pitchfork’s coverage of the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.

Alex Warren
British songwriter and guitarist Alex Warren will make his VMAs debut hot on the heels of releasing his debut album, You’ll Be Alright Kid. He’s among the nominees for Best New Artist and chances are he’ll perform the single “Ordinary,” which reached No. 1 on both the U.S. and UK charts this summer.

Bailey Zimmerman Featuring the Kid Laroi
Country artist Bailey Zimmerman and the Kid Laroi will hit the Extended Play Stage Presented by Doritos® to perform their collaborative single “Lost.”

Busta Rhymes
Busta Rhymes is the first recipient of the brand-new MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award. Having first performed at the show in 1997, tonight marks his seventh VMAs appearance over the span of nearly three decades.

Conan Gray
Pop singer Conan Gray will take the VMAs stage for the first time, to play “Vodka Cranberry” from his new album, Wishbone.

Doja Cat
Doja Cat’s theatrical antics have made her a VMAs fixture. She performed “Been Like This” and “You Right” in 2021, and, in 2023, delivered a medley of the Scarlet singles “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red,” and “Demons.” Tonight, she’s set to give “Jealous Type,” the lead single from her forthcoming album, Vie, its live debut.

J Balvin
Thirteen-time nominee J Balvin will be joined by Juistin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez for the trio’s new song “Zun Zun,” and then he and DJ Snake will play their single “Noventa” live for the first time. The reggaeton superstar has brought his collaborative spirit to past VMAs with assists from Bad Bunny, in 2019, and Ryan Castro, in 2022.
