Robert Redford was and always will be one of the most respected actors and filmmakers, but his priority was his children and family. The late All Is Lost actor, who died at 89 in September 2025, welcomed several kids during his first marriage, and few of them followed in his footsteps by building their own careers in TV and film.

Learn more about the Robert’s children below as we look back on his life and career.

How Many Kids Did Robert Redford Have?

Robert had four children with his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen. However, their first child, Scott Redford, died when he was just 2 1/2 months old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), a.k.a “crib death.” SIDS is when a baby, usually within the first year of birth, suddenly dies.

David James, who also went by James Redford, died when he was 58 in 2020 from bile duct cancer.

By the end of his life, Robert had two surviving children: Shauna and Amy.

Scott Anthony Redford

Scott was born on September 1, 1959. He was Robert and Lola’s first child. Unfortunately, he died just two months after his birth from sudden infant death syndrome. He was buried in Provo, Utah, where his late father lived during his final years.

Shauna Jean Redford

Shauna was the second child of Robert and Lola. Born on November 15, 1960, Shauna is now a painter and is married to a journalist named Eric Schlosser.

David James Redford

David James followed in his father’s footsteps by becoming a filmmaker and environmentalist. He focused on documentaries and attended Robert’s alma mater, the University of Colorado Boulder to study creative writing and filmmaking. He later obtained a master’s degree in literature from Northwestern University.

Before dying in 2020 from bile duct cancer, David James earned screenwriting credits for films, including Cowboy Up and Skinwalkers. He made his directorial debut with Spin. He had also undergone two liver transplants in his life to manage primary sclerosing cholangitis: a disease that affects the gallbladder and liver.

Amy Hart Redford

Like her dad, Amy became an actor and a filmmaker. She attended San Francisco State University to study Drama/Theatre Arts before going to Robert’s alma mater, University of Colorado Boulder, then LAMDA in England to focus on theatre.

Amy has appeared in countless films and television shows, including Maid in Manhattan, This Revolution, Sunshine Cleaning, The Last Confederate: The Story of Robert Adams, The Understudy, Sex and the City, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and The Sopranos.

After establishing herself as an actress, Amy started directing movies, such as The Guitar.

The iconic actor-and-director died at the age of 89 on Tuesday morning (16.09.25) at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah, and Trump has said Redford’s passing was “a good way to go”.

Speaking to Reuters, Trump, 79, said: “Well, it’s a good way to go, I guess.

“There was a period when he was the hottest.”

Redford was one of the biggest stars and most acclaimed actors in Hollywood, having starred in hits such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All The President’s Men and The Sting.

“Rest in peace my lovely friend.”

Paul Shaffer Reacts to Late Show Cancellation at CBS

by jummy84 September 7, 2025
written by jummy84

Late Show With David Letterman bandleader Paul Shaffer is just as stunned as viewers are that CBS is canceling The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and the entire Late Show franchise.

“Shocking. Absolutely shocking,” Shaffer said of the decision in a recent Entertainment Weekly interview. “That’s all I can say. I mean, I don’t know what more to say about it. Stephen Colbert was absolutely number one.”

Shaffer was a CBS employee for decades, leading the CBS Orchestra and serving as David Letterman’s sidekick for the host’s entire Late Show run, from 1993 to 2015. Previously, Shaffer filled the same role on Letterman’s NBC show, Late Night With David Letterman, from 1982 to 1993.

And the musician thinks the end of The Late Show might indeed portend the end of late-night talk shows. “I wouldn’t be surprised if those doom-sayers that are saying it signifies the end of the Late Show-type of thing, you know, late night television, it’s over,” he told EW. “People will watch clips on their computers, and it all makes sense to me. I’m glad that I was in and out of there while the getting was good.”

Letterman, for his part, criticized his former network, saying on his YouTube channel that he doesn’t believe CBS’ claims that the decision to cancel the Late Show franchise was purely economic. He said CBS was showing “pure cowardice” following parent company Paramount’s $16 million payment to Donald Trump to settle the president’s lawsuit over CBS’ 60 Minutes.

“I think one day, if not today, the people at CBS who have manipulated and handled this are going to be embarrassed,” Letterman added. “This is gutless.”

Former Late Night host Conan O’Brien said at a Television Academy event last month (per The Hollywood Reporter) that “late night television as we have known it since around 1950 is going to disappear,” but he wasn’t concerned about Colbert. “Those voices are not going anywhere,” he explained. “People like Stephen Colbert are too talented and too essential to go away.”

But Jimmy Kimmel, ABC’s resident late-night host, thinks the post-11-p.m. segment of the television industry will survive. “Network television is declining. There’s no question about that,” he told Variety last month. “The idea that late-night is dead is simply untrue. People just aren’t watching it on network television in the numbers they used to — or live, for that matter. So the advertising model may be dying, but late-night television is the opposite.”

Art Diary: This exhibition in Delhi pays tribute to late Pratap Deb’s artistic oeuvre spanning seven decades

by jummy84 September 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Once an artist, always an artist. The statement holds true for late artist Pratap Deb, whose spirit guides his upcoming solo exhibition titled Unveiled: Pratap Deb. The Artist. His Art. His Journey.

Disparate Journeys, is one of the 40 artworks that will be displayed as part of Pratap Deb’s debut solo show.

Deb, who began his career as a graphic designer and later worked as a government employee, was little known outside close circles for his bold and well-defined canvases — works that took a back seat amid the demands of life.

“He graduated from Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta, in 1956 and had a remarkable journey spanning seven decades of artistic creations. In fact, his peers included renowned artists such as Ganesh Haloi and Sakti Burman, who remember him for his brilliant artworks during their academic days,” shares his son, Shubhendu Deb. His wife Valarie adds, “My father-in-law was always very passionate about his art. We used to see him painting at the Lalit Kala Akademi’s Garhi studio. It’s only after we lost him in 2021 that we discovered so many canvases in the studio. When we took these for restoration and saw people admiring his work, we decided to revive his dream to have this exhibition. It’s our gift to him.”

Known for his evocative visual language that blended realism, symbolism, and social narrative, Deb has left behind a compelling body of work. This exhibition will showcase more than 40 original pieces created by him. These will include oils, acrylics, drawings and mixed media canvases, which will all be displayed for public viewing for the first time ever.

Artist-curator Oroon Das, who has designed the show, adds, “That I hadn’t heard of him, became astonishing the moment I came into contact with Deb’s surviving body of work: European style oil portraits from the early 50s to cubist constructions… His apparent lightness had me caring for what he had left behind. He was a rasik, alive to poetic possibility as a present continuous.”

One look at the painting titled Blossomed, an acrylic on canvas, and the expressive eyes of the flower woman are sure to captivate the onlooker. In stark contrast is his painting style in Three Graces, another acrylic on canvas. It’s interesting to notice and study how Deb swiftly altered his style, from one canvas to another, thus leaving viewers perplexed about his thoughts behind creating these artworks and his inspiration.

“Pratap Deb’s legacy belongs to the stream of consciousness we inherit as the trait of modernism; to understand the art of this land and to know ourselves in this world,” opines Das, adding, “But that’s probably not why I find myself captured by him. There’s something moving about his anonymous glide of marking time with imagination, consistently.

Kate Beckinsale shares moments from late mother’s celebration of life

Kate Beckinsale found saying goodbye to her mother “the hardest thing” she has ever done.

Kate Beckinsale found it hard to say goodbye to her mother

The 51-year-old actress’ mom Judy Loe passed away in July after battling stage four cancer, and the Shooting Fish actress has taken to Instagram to share photos from the “celebration of life” she organised in honour of her beloved parent and praised the outpouring of love shown on the day.

Kate – who has 26-year-old daughter Lily with former partner Michael Sheen – wrote on Instagram: “Dearest Mama, The fact that you have had to have a funeral at all is wrong and ludicrous . You are the biggest lover of life, the most energetic, the most vital , the most joyous.

“The only mandate you gave me over the years was that you wanted a celebration of your life and that no one was to wear black so no one did.

“What I did not anticipate, particularly the night before the funeral where I got two hours sleep on a hard sofa and very much considered not being able to attend because I was afraid I couldn’t handle it ,was that someone would be able to have a funeral that was so full of love and happiness and joy, which is all because of you and who you are and what you brought.

“You are a bridge builder, a hoarder of love, an archiver of precious history ,of respect for years of friendship and my God that showed..

“I think the hardest thing I have ever had to do was say goodbye to you and I haven’t managed it yet, I still reach for my phone in the early hours of the morning to text you and then realise that I won’t get a response.

“The funeral and the party which I will not call a wake afterwards, and which I very much feel you attended in some vaporous way blew the f****** roof off Chiswick House. Everybody danced -from the age of 3 to their mid 80s. Your school friends attended, my school friends attended, Lily‘s school friends attended. The love you inspired ,quietly and generously was awe-inspiring and still is.

“I will never get over the lump of cement in my stomach that I have instead of you. Hopefully, I will learn to carry it better than I am currently carrying it which is clumsily and not well.

“But what you left me was a coterie of extraordinarily brilliant people who, if and when I am ever up to it, I know will provide me a soft place to land.

“At the moment I am so blindsided and devastated that it is safer for me to be on my own but I know from your funeral that the relationships you nurtured so carefully over the years are there for me too and that is another part of your generosity that will live on.

“I love you, Mama. You are in my blood. You are in my bones ,you are in my heart ,broken or not you are there. I love you so much.”

Kate previously announced her mom’s death in Instagram and admitted she was “paralysed” by her loss.

She wrote on Instagram: “I don’t want to post this. I am only posting this because I have had to register my mother‘s death certificate and it will soon become public record.

“She died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering. I have not picked all the best photos, nor the best videos, because I cannot bear to go through my camera roll yet.

“I deeply apologise to any of her friends who are finding out this way or through the press, but I cannot go through her phone. I am paralysed.”
