Taylor Swift’s Late Night With Seth Meyers Highlights

The opening song on Taylor Swift‘s The Life of a Showgirl references the character Ophelia from William Shakespeare‘s Hamlet, who faces a tragic fate.

According to the song’s lyrics, Taylor “might’ve drowned in the melancholy” if she hadn’t been saved by her true love.

“I heard you calling / On the megaphone,” Taylor sings. “You wanna see me all alone.”

The lyrics appear to be a nod to Travis Kelce calling Taylor out on his New Heights podcast for not meeting him at her Eras Tour, which is how their romance began.

“I swore loyalty to me, myself and I,” the lyrics continue. “Right before you lit my sky up.”

Before meeting Travis, Taylor was fresh off a breakup from Matty Healy, having declared herself one of the “independent girlies” in July 2023.

But after Travis went to her concert in Kansas City that same month, sparks began to fly.

Now, Taylor’s fiancé is even in on her Easter egg game, teasing “The Fate of Ophelia” lyrics on Instagram back in July. (Had some adventures this offseason,” he captioned pics with Taylor, adding, “Kept it [100].”)

How does that connect to Taylor’s song? Well, as the lyrics go, “You dug me out of my grave and saved my heart from the fate of Ophelia / Keep it one hundred.”

About the Late Carl Thomas Dean – Hollywood Life

Dolly Parton has been a staple of the music industry for nearly 60 years after getting her big break in the 1960s. Her career has made her a country icon, with numerous hits including songs like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” and she continues to be a massively influential singer to this day. Almost as long as she’s been making music, she was also married to late retired businessman Carl Thomas Dean. The pair married in 1966, and their marriage lasted until Carl’s death in March 2025. The loss deeply affected Dolly, who once revealed to Khloé Kardashian that she struggled to find motivation to write new music in the months following his death.

In a candid May 2025 interview with Today, Dolly reflected on their six decades together, saying, “Oh, you know what, I get very emotional when people bring it up. But we were together 60 years. I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old.”

Following Carl’s death, Dolly admitted that she let some of her own health problems slide as she focused on grieving and adjusting to life without him. Earlier this year, she was hospitalized for kidney stones and an infection, which forced her to postpone several public appearances, including her Las Vegas residency. After weeks of fan concern, she took to social media to reassure everyone with her trademark humor, writing in a caption, “I ain’t dead yet!”

Find out more about Dolly’s husband Carl Dean, and what they’ve said about their relationship.

Do Dolly Parton & Carl Dean Have Kids?

Dolly and Carl don’t have any kids, but it once crossed their mind. Dolly revealed that she’d “dreamed” of having kids, but it wasn’t “meant to be” in a 2014 interview with The Guardian. “My husband and I, when we first got married, we thought about if we had kids, what would they look like? Would they be tall – because he’s tall? Or would they be little squats like me? If we’d had a girl, she was gonna be called Carla,” she said. “I would have been a great mother, I think. I would probably have given up everything else. Because I would’ve felt guilty about that, if I’d have left them [to work, to tour]. Everything would have changed. I probably wouldn’t have been a star.”

Dolly admitted that she never felt the pull towards motherhood in a 2023 interview with Saga Exceptional. “When you’re a young couple, you think you’re going to have kids, but it just wasn’t one of those burning things for me. I had my career and my music and I was traveling,” she said. “If I’d had kids, I’d have stayed home with them, I’m sure, and worried myself to death about them. With everything that’s going on, I’d hate to be bringing a child into this world right now.”

That drive to work and be successful in a tough industry like country music has been a major factor in why Dolly didn’t regret not having children of her own. “I believe that I know what I’m supposed to, but you’ve got to make the sacrifice. Since I had no kids, and my husband was pretty independent, I had freedom. I think a big part of my whole success is the fact that I was free to work, and I didn’t have children, because I believe that God didn’t mean for me to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine, so I could do things, like the Imagination Library,” Dolly told Oprah Winfrey in a 2020 interview, via Today.

How Did Dolly Parton & Carl Dean Meet?

Dolly revealed that Carl had called out to her as she was doing laundry in a 2014 interview with The Guardian. “I was walking down the street to the laundromat, and he stopped me,” she said. “He said, ‘Hey, you’re going to get sunburned out here!’ Well, he had to say something.”

Why Was Carl Dean So Private?

While Dolly is instantly recognizable to just about anyone, Carl kept out of the spotlight for much of his wife’s career. Dolly spoke about why her husband values his privacy in a 2020 interview with ET. “He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that,” she explained, noting that she’s always tried to “keep him out of the limelight,” as he wants. “He said, ‘I didn’t choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.’ And we do and we have. We’ve been together 56 years, married 54.” Dolly even joked that the pair playfully say that her busy schedule is part of why their relationship has lasted so long.

The “Jolene” singer also revealed the reason why Carl wouldn’t join her on red carpets in a What Would Dolly Do? Radio broadcast in November 2023. “Carl has never been in the limelight and all, never wanted to be in it. He don’t like it,” she said, via Southern Living. “He went to one thing with me early on, when we first married, to a BMI Song of the Year [event], and he came out of there taking off his tuxedo, his tie and all that and said, ‘Don’t ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain’t going.’ I never asked him and he never did.”

Dolly Parton Has Said That Carl Dean Supported Her

Other than making their life together work between Dolly’s larger-than-life persona and Carl’s want for privacy, Dolly said that the pair maintained a strong relationship. When speaking about her tumultous relationship with late musician Porter Wagoner in a 2021 interview with W, Dolly revealed that her relationship with Carl was much different from the partnership she had with Porter. “My husband and I don’t argue,” she said. “But Porter and I did nothing but fight. It was a love-hate relationship.”

Dolly also took to her Instagram in November 2021 to share a photo of the rarely-seen Carl, and she celebrated his help. The photo was an older picture of the pair, and Carl was wearing a T-shirt with his wife’s face on it. “Find you a partner who will support you like my Carl Dean does!” Dolly captioned the post at the time.

Why Didn’t Dolly Parton Take Carl Dean’s Last Name?

While many fans know Dolly by her maiden name, she revealed that she took her late husband’s last name but performs with her own. “My passport is Dolly Parton Dean. I sign a lot of my contracts Dean. I didn’t change names [publicly] because I already had a record deal. It made no sense. He never asked me to,” she told The Guardian in 2014. “At home, to me, I’m Dolly Dean. But then I’m also Dolly Parton. I’m Dolly Parton Dean. I’m myself… If I had chosen the name Dolly Dean… I’d have been Double D. Again.”

Dolly Parton’s Husband Carl Dean’s Cause of Death

Dolly announced March 2025 that her husband had died, and a cause of death was not immediately disclosed. However, according to TMZ, Carl was previously diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2019.

Robin Williams’ Daughter Slams Fans For Sending Her ‘Gross’ & ‘Maddening’ Al Videos Of Late Actor

#RobinWilliams’ daughter, Zelda Williams, is begging his fans to stop sending her “gross” and “maddening” AI-generated videos of her late father.

In a recent message shared to her IG Story, Zelda expressed, “Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t.” She further criticized the practice, stating, “You’re not making art, you’re making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings.”

She added in a second post, “And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it ‘the future.’ AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed.” This isn’t the first time Zelda has addressed the issue. In 2023, she condemned the use of AI to recreate her father’s voice, calling it “disturbing” and advocating for more stringent regulations against such practices in the entertainment industry.

Robin Williams, who was known for leading several cult classics such as #Jumanji, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Good Will Hunting, passed in 2014 at 63 from su!c!de.

Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show to return this week after controversial suspension

by jummy84 September 22, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Kimmel Live will return to the air this week, following its controversial suspension due to comments relating to the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Last week, it was announced that the late night host’s show had been pulled from the ABC Network, which is owned by Disney, over Kimmel’s comments following the killing of the right-wing activist.

Kirk was shot in the neck and killed at Utah Valley University campus on September 10, and, following the incident, Kimmel said that all signs pointed to Kirk’s shooter being a Trump supporter.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterise this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said in his Monday night monologue.

The subsequent fallout saw the show taken off-air indefinitely, a move that sparked a strong response from either side of the political spectrum. President Donald Trump celebrated the decision, while most of Hollywood’s labour unions reacted to the decision with anger and protest.

On Monday (September 22), the Walt Disney Company said in a statement: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.

“It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Reports had emerged in recent days that Kimmel’s business and legal representatives were in discussions with Disney and ABC executives in the hope of reaching a compromise.

Among those to speak out against the suspension were talk show legends Stephen Colbert and David Letterman, citing concerns relating to free speech, as well as comedian and podcaster Marc Maron, who called it “government censorship”, Olivia Rodrigo, who labelled it “blatant censorship”, and Pedro Pascal, who stressed the importance of free speech and democracy.

Over the weekend, John Cleese and Piers Morgan clashed over the cancellation after Morgan questioned Kimmel being “heralded as some kind of free speech martyr”.

The topic worked itself into Trump’s speech at Kirk’s memorial on Sunday (September 21), where he once again took aim at his political opponents on the “radical left” and addressed the backlash about Kimmel’s show being axed.

“The same commentators who this week are screaming fascism over a cancelled late-night TV show, where the anchor had no talent and no ratings, last week were implying that Charlie Kirk deserved what happened to him,” he said.

Lisa Marie Presley died from a cardiac arrest at the age of 54 on January 12, 2023, only five months after penning a heartbreaking essay on grief following the death of her only son, Benjamin Keough, who passed away from suicide two years earlier. “I’ve dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of 9 years old. I’ve had more than anyone’s fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I’ve made it this far,” Lisa Marie wrote, per People, referencing the death of her father, rock icon Elvis Presley. “But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son? No. Just no … no no no no …” The message ended on a more hopeful note, however, with Lisa Marie revealing she was working through the pain. With her death, however, Lisa Marie’s remaining children — Riley Keough and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood — had to restart the grieving process.

In July 2020, Benjamin was found dead in the Los Angeles suburb of Calabasas. At the time, Lisa Marie’s rep told Hollywood Life that “she is completely heartbroken , inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11 year old twins and her oldest daughter Riley.” The rep added, “She adored that boy. He was the love of her life.” The young man’s death would be ruled a suicide after he shot himself in the chest. Find out more about Lisa Marie’s son, below.

He comes from a famous family

Benjamin is the son of Lisa and her ex-husband Danny Keough as well as the grandson of the late Elvis Presley and Priscilla. Elvis remains one of the most successful recording acts of all time, with 149 songs appearing on Billboard’s Hot 100, and 18 number one hits. Ben is second eldest of Lisa’s four kids, and has kept a relatively low profile among his famous clan.

He looked just like Elvis

Benjamin has an uncanny resemblance to The King of Rock N’ Roll, often to the delight of Elvis fans. “Ben does look so much like Elvis. He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage,” his proud mom Lisa told CMT in 2012. “Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny,” she added.

Lisa wrote a song about Ben

Lisa often dedicated songs to her children, with Ben inspiring her 2012 tune “Storm And Grace.” In the song, she sings about Ben — who was 19 at the time — growing too fast. “Stop moving so fast there, and then take your foot off the gas. My heart can’t seem to take it, your storm and your grace,” croons. She accompanied the song with a beautiful music video featuring family photos.

There were rumors he had record deal

Like his grandfather and mom, Ben was reported to be musical. At just 17, reports surfaced that he had scored a $5 million record deal Universal Records to record up to five albums — however reps for Universal later denied these reports to be true. “This story is totally untrue,” Peter LoFrumento, Executive Vice President of Universal Music Group, said at the time.

His sister is an actress

Ben is the younger brother of Riley Keough, who recently starred in indie horror film The Lodge. She also appeared in romance/mystery Earthquake Bird, and TV series The Girlfriend Experience. Riley married Ben Smith-Petersen in 2015. Ben also has twin half siblings, Finley and Harper, through his mom.

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Who Was Brett James? Meet the Late Songwriter Who Died in Plane Crash

About the Late Songwriter Who Died in a Plane Crash – Hollywood Life

Brett James, best known as a songwriter on Carrie Underwood‘s Grammy-winning single “Jesus Take the Wheel,” died in a plane crash in North Carolina. He was 57. We’re remembering the late singer-songwriter’s life and career below.

Brett James Was a Songwriter & Musician

Known for his work in country music, James was an accomplished songwriter, singer and musician. Born in Columbia, Missouri, he later moved to Oklahoma and went to high school there. After attending Baylor University, James graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, which led him to temporarily pursue medical school. However, he dropped out to chase his dreams for a music career.

Brett James Went to Medical School

James’ success didn’t happen overnight. Like most struggling artists, he waited tables and went to open mic nights, but it took years until he became an acclaimed songwriter. After going after his dreams in Nashville for seven years, James returned home and re-entered medical school, according to his bio on Baylor University’s website. Upon finishing his second year, James met with the dean — who allowed him to re-enroll in the first place — to tell her he was leaving again.

“I had a list of all the songs I’d had recorded on a sheet of paper and slid it to her,” James said about his last meeting with the dean. “She ended up being a big country music fan, and she knew some of the songs. She said, ‘This is awesome. You have to go do this, but you can never come back to medical school.’”

Brett James Composed Carrie Underwood’s ‘Jesus Take the Wheel’ Hit

One of James’ most famous composition credits was for Underwood’s famous song “Jesus Take the Wheel,” which won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song. He collaborated with Underwood again by co-writing “Cowboy Casanova.”

James also co-wrote Kenny Chesney‘s “Out Last Night.”

Brett James Also Worked as a Record Producer

James began working as a record producer in 2008. He is credited with contributing to the re-release of Taylor Swift‘s debut album in addition to Jessica Simpson‘s Do You Know album.

Brett James’ Plane Crash Death: What Happened to Him

On September 18, 2025, James and two other people died after his plane crashed near an elementary school in North Carolina, near the Macon County Airport’s runway, in the afternoon. The Cirrus SR22T, which was reportedly registered under James’ name, took off from Tennessee’s John C. Tune Airport and crashed in a field in North Carolina.

The National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the crash.

Late night television is going through major changes in 2025. CBS confirmed that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end next year, just weeks after Stephen Colbert picked up another Emmy for Outstanding Variety Talk Series. Over at ABC, Jimmy Kimmel also added to his résumé with a Creative Arts Emmy win for Outstanding Host for a Game Show thanks to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. But his celebration was short-lived — ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been suspended indefinitely following backlash over Kimmel’s recent on-air remarks about the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s killing.

As viewers come to terms with Colbert’s looming exit and Kimmel’s show being pulled from the schedule, questions are swirling about the future of late night and what might come next.

Below, Hollywood Life has a breakdown of why The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is ending.

Was The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Canceled?

Yes, CBS is canceling The Late Show franchise after more than three decades on the air. Stephen took over the show in 2015, and it was originally hosted by David Letterman.

When Is The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Ending?

The Late Show will end in May 2026, CBS executives announced on July 17, 2025.

Why Is The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Ending?

CBS decided to gut The Late Show with Stephen Colbert due to financial reasons, network executives explained in a statement released on July 17, 2025, obtained by Variety.

“We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise in May of 2026,” CBS executives said. “We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.”

The executives added, “This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

The merger between Paramount Global — the parent company of CBS —  and Skydance Media is expected to close this year.

Paramount has doubled down on its claim that canceling Stephen’s show was financial. Despite facing criticism from Stephen himself, the network has maintained its answer, with Paramount Global TV Media Chairman George Cheeks following up about the situation.

“The challenge in late night is that the advertising marketplace is in significant secular decline,” George said in an August 2025 press conference, per TV Insider. “We are huge fans of Colbert, we love the show, unfortunately, the economics made it a challenge for us to keep going.”

Is Stephen Colbert Leaving The Late Show?

Stephen did not leave The Late Show voluntarily. Per Variety, the comedian was informed of CBS’ decision on July 16, 2025, and he informed the audience at the next episode’s taping.

What Is Stephen Colbert’s Late Show Salary?

Stephen is reported to have made a salary of around $15 million per year with CBS while hosting The Late Show.

In December 2024, his life was cut short in after he was fatally shot before attending his company’s investor day in Midtown Manhattan. Authorities alleged the shooter matched Luigi Mangione’s description, and Mangione was arrested days later in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was charged with multiple state and federal counts in connection with the killing.

As of September 2025, a judge has dismissed two of the most serious charges against Mangione—first-degree murder and second-degree murder as acts of terrorism—ruling that the evidence was “legally insufficient” to support those terrorism-related allegations. He still faces a second-degree murder charge under New York state law, along with several related weapon and federal charges (including a federal murder count for which prosecutors are seeking the death penalty). Details are still unfolding as both state and federal proceedings move forward.

Amid the investigation, many have reflected on Thompson’s career at UnitedHealthcare. His rise to the executive ranks significantly increased his earnings. Learn more about his career and net worth, below.
