Tragedy at Vijay’s Karur Rally: 39 Killed in Stampede, Relief Announced By CM

by jummy84 September 28, 2025
written by jummy84

A tragic day unfolded in Tamil Nadu’s Karur on Sunday when a stampede at actor-turned-politician Vijay’s rally left 39 people dead, including nine children and 17 women. More than 100 others were injured in the shocking incident that has shaken the state.
The rally was organised by Vijay’s newly formed party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and drew thousands of supporters. Witnesses said the crowd became difficult to control as Vijay addressed the gathering. In the commotion, several people fainted, and panic quickly escalated into a stampede, with many trampled in the rush.

Hours later, Vijay shared an emotional statement, expressing deep sorrow. “My heart is shattered. I am writhing in unbearable, indescribable pain and sorrow that words cannot express. I extend my deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur. I pray for the swift recovery of those receiving treatment in the hospital,” he said.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called an emergency meeting soon after the incident. He announced compensation of 10 lakh Rs each for the families of the deceased and directed officials to provide immediate medical attention to the injured. Helplines — 7010806322 and 04324256306 — were also shared for families seeking information about loved ones.

Vijay

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin condemned the tragedy, stressing that loss of life is not justified and called for stricter safety measures at public gatherings. Meanwhile, security has been tightened at Vijay’s Chennai residence following the incident, sources confirmed.
The stampede has cast a dark shadow over Vijay’s political debut. What was meant to be a show of strength for TVK has turned into a moment of national mourning, raising urgent questions about crowd control and event safety.
As Tamil Nadu grieves, leaders across political lines and members of the film industry have extended their condolences. For now, the focus remains on relief, recovery, and accountability for a tragedy that has claimed dozens of innocent lives.

3 Members of TLC’s Putman Family Killed in Car Accident

The Putman family is in mourning.

Isabella Putman, whose family of 26 all lived under one roof in the 2017 TLC series Meet the Putmans, announced that three members of the family—Bill “Papa” Putman, Neenee Putman and Megan Putman—died in a car crash.

“I come to you with a heavy heart asking for your prayers,” Isabelle wrote in a statement shared to Instagram Sept. 27. “Our family was in a tragic car accident and we lost Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan. They have gone home to be with the Lord.”

The reality TV alum also revealed that five other family members sustained injuries in the crash and are still recovering.

“Please keep Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia in your prayers as they remain in the hospital,” Isabelle continued. “We are asking for complete healing and strength for each of them.”

Amid their grief, Isabelle reflected on how the entire family—who later chronicled their lives together in their Growing Up Putman spinoff series on YouTube—is leaning on their faith in God.

3 Members of Meet the Putmans Family Killed in Car Accident

The Putmans, the family made famous on the TLC reality show Meet the Putmans, asked for prayers in an Instagram post on Sunday as they announced that three members of the family had died in a car crash and several others were in the hospital.

“Our family was in a tragic car accident, and we lost Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan,” Isabelle, a member of the family, wrote in a letter shared on the @growingupputman Instagram account. “They have gone home to be with the Lord.”

TMZ reports Papa and Neenee were nicknames for Bill and Barb Putman, the heads of the family.

Five other members of the family were injured, Isabelle said. “Please keep Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia in your prayers as they remain in the hospital,” Isabelle wrote. “We are asking for complete healing and strength for each of them.”

The crash happened Friday in Ellington Township, Michigan, as the driver of a semi truck failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Jeep with the eight Putmans inside, according to WNEM. As the five injured Putmans were taken to the hospital via ambulance — with some in critical condition — the driver of the semi was arrested, according to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office.

In their time of heartbreak, the surviving family members — including Billy, Jen, Brandon, Kacie, Jamie, Blair, Abby, Emma, Addison, Bella, Mercy, Gabby, Mya, Nova, Jonah, Eli, Solomon, Uriah, Samson, Luke, and Anna — are relying on their faith, Isabelle said.

“We ask for your continued prayers for Uncle Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia as they recover, and for our whole family as we walk through this deep loss,” Isabelle added.

TLC’s Meet the Putmans aired its only season in 2017. The show followed Bill and Barb, who’d been married for 32 years at the time, as they lived with their children and grandchildren.

“This 25-person family lives under one roof, shares one bathroom, pools all of their finances, and helps raise all of the kids as one family unit,” TLC said in a press release. “Each episode will not only detail the little things that test this large household, but also highlight those extreme ‘for better or worse’ moments they experience as both couples and a family.”

Following the TLC show, the Putmans returned in a 2021 web series titled Growing Up Putman, People reports.

Geese: Getting Killed Album Review

Geese: Getting Killed Album Review

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

Desperation looks good on Geese. In the past four years, the New York band has demonstrated an ability to rock out and sprawl out with the best of them, but it took until vocalist Cameron Winter’s understated solo album, Heavy Metal, for the emotional core to surface. Part of this breakthrough can be attributed to Winter’s voice: a slurred, straining warble whose cryptic delivery can feel like both sides of an argument you’re overhearing through apartment walls. He gets your attention in jarring ways, then turns around and breaks your heart. No artist has muttered the phrase “fuck these people” so meaningfully in a piano ballad.

As evidenced by this moment, occurring just under a minute into his tender 2024 solo single “$0,” Geese can give the impression of an ambitious band skeptical of its own ambition, fitting for a group formed when its members were in high school. Like a lot of precocious young people, they seem energized by the possibility of an audience recognizing their potential before they do, a tension they have used to subvert their more crowd-pleasing turns. This is how “Cowboy Nudes,” a highlight from 2023’s 3D Country, winds up with a soulful chorus that could have landed on any generation’s FM rock radio alongside a series of exclamations that might be edited out by any generation’s record executives.

With the surprise success of Heavy Metal, a less imaginative band might choose to follow some of this industry wisdom, taming their eccentricities and building on the classic songcraft and heart-wrenching lyrics that made their singer a star. Thankfully, Geese are not this type of band. Their third album, Getting Killed, is their strangest and strongest work. This is anxious, fragmented music as liable to erupt in a paranoid shriek as a bald declaration of love. The first chorus on the record is a gravelly, haywire scream: “THERE’S A BOMB IN MY CAR.” The second makes a meal out of the two most eternal words in pop music: “baby” and “forever,” each delivered with the swagger of a karaoke singer pretending not to notice his crush has entered the room.

Working with producer Kenneth Blume (the hip-hop luminary formerly known as Kenny Beats), the quartet explores a clattering, groove-based sound, denying the structures of traditional rock music while following the same volleys of tension and release. Where their music once felt clouded by a history of hip NYC forebears, they now cast their future wide open. It’s a style that favors cyclical repetition over crafted hooks, ecstatic bursts of melody that inspire some of Winter’s most commanding writing. In an ominously funky track called “100 Horses,” he assumes the perspective of a general during wartime: “All people must die scared or else die nervous,” he announces. In the context of the song, the news is delivered as something of a comfort; in the context of the record, it’s one of the more obvious choices for a single.

bitchy | Charlie Kirk, 31-year-old right-wing media figure, was shot & killed in Utah

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

There’s a whole movement of Gen Z and Millennial hard-right conservative guys who all sort of blend together for me. Before this week, I would not have been able to pick Charlie Kirk out of a line-up. But now the image of Kirk getting shot in the neck at a Utah college campus is seared into my memory bank. Kirk, who was only 31 years old, was shot and killed at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was on some kind of platform or stage, doing a “Prove Me Wrong” Q&A session. The last question he was asked was “do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last ten years?” Kirk answered with a question, “counting or not counting gang violence?” Then he was shot in the neck.

Charlie Kirk has died at age 31 after being shot during a campus event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to President Donald Trump.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” the president shared on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

Kirk, a right-wing media personality who founded conservative advocacy group Turning Point USA, was manning his signature “Prove Me Wrong” table on the first stop of his American Comeback Tour in Orem, Utah, when shots were fired. Video posted from the event appeared to show Kirk being struck in the side of the head or neck as he spoke to the crowd from under a white pop-up tent.

After the shot rang out, the crowd dispersed in a panic, with onlookers shouting, “Run, run, run!”

[From People]

There are multiple angles of the shooting from people in the crowd, and each angle is worse than the next. I don’t recommend watching any of the videos, but they’re all over social media. As many have pointed out, Kirk spent the past nine or ten years demonizing minorities, women and marginalized communities and he ended up getting killed by someone who I’m 99.999% sure is a white-male shooter. In the whitest state in America, on a campus which is overwhelmingly white.

In 2023, Kirk was asked about the second amendment, mass shootings and America’s gun problem. He said: “You will never live in a society when you have an armed citizenry and you won’t have a single gun death. That is nonsense. It’s drivel. But I am, I, I — I think it’s worth it. I think it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal.”

I’m including an assortment of reactions from Democratic leaders. Republican leaders did not bother to offer any kind of similar sentiments when Minnesota’s Democratic state representative Melissa Hortman was assassinated in her home alongside her husband and their dog. That happened less than three months ago.

There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.

— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) September 10, 2025

We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) September 10, 2025

I am deeply disturbed by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family.

Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.

‘Ketamine Queen’ pleads guilty to supplying drug that killed Matthew Perry

by jummy84 September 3, 2025

3 September 2025

Jasveen Sangha has pleaded guilty to selling Matthew Perry the drug that killed him.

Matthew Perry passed away in October 2023

The 42-year-old dubbed the ‘Ketamine Queen’ has officially pleaded guilty to five charges – including supplying the ketamine that led to Perry’s death – during a hearing in Los Angeles on Wednesday (03.09.25).

Sangha – who is a dual citizen of the US and the UK – admitted one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death, one count of maintaining a drug-involved premises, and three counts of distribution of ketamine.

Sangha is being held in federal custody and now faces up to 65 years in prison. However, prosecutors have agreed to drop three other counts relating to the distribution of ketamine, as well as one count of distribution of methamphetamine.

Prosecutors have already confirmed that they will ask for less than the maximum possible sentence. Sangha’s sentencing hearing has been set for December 10 in Los Angeles.

Perry died from accidental drowning caused by the acute effects of ketamine use in October 2023, aged 54. The Friends star – who battled addiction for years – has been prescribed ketamine by his doctor as a treatment for depression.

However, in the weeks before his passing, he’d also started to acquire the drug through illegal means.

Perry bought large amounts of the drug through Sangha shortly before he passed away.

Four other individuals – including Dr Salvador Plasencia and Dr Mark Chavez, two doctors who sold ketamine to Perry, Kenneth Iwamasa, who worked as Perry’s live-in assistant, and Eric Fleming, who sold ketamine he’d received from Sangha to Perry – have all agreed to plead guilty to charges.

Fleming and Iwamasa are potentially facing 15 to 25 years in prison, while Chavez faces up to a decade in prison. They are all due to be sentenced later this year.

Perry – who was best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends – died due to the “acute effects of ketamine”.

An autopsy report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects as contributing factors in the his death.

What Did the Menendez Brothers Do? Why They Killed Their Parents – Hollywood Life

Lyle and Erik Menendez admittedly killed their parents, José and Kitty Menendez, in 1989. The brothers have spent over three decades in prison and are currently incarcerated at California’s Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, but a parole hearing could bring them closer to a potential release after they were resentenced in 2025. Now that the case has garnered renewed interest decades later, many are wondering why Lyle and Erik went through with the murders.

Keep reading to go behind Lyle and Erik’s story, and find out why they shot their parents.

What Did the Menendez Brothers Do?

The Menendez brothers fatally shot their mother and father in their Beverly Hills home with shotguns in 1989. The siblings weren’t initially suspects, and they spent several weeks spending their parents’ fortune on lavish purchases before police arrested them.

Why Did the Menendez Brothers Kill Their Parents?

During the trials in 1993 and 1996, many believed that the brothers committed the murders to secure their inheritance. However, Lyle and Erik claimed that they had suffered emotional, physical and sexual abuse throughout their childhood. They alleged that Kitty was dependent on alcohol and drugs and that José had sexually abused them. In recent years, Roy Rossello, a former member of the boy band Menudo, also accused Jose Menendez of sexually molesting him when he was younger.

These allegations became central in the first trial, which ended in a mistrial. Ultimately, the brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1996.

When Will Lyle and Erik Get Out of Prison?

There’s a chance that Lyle and Erik could be released from prison over the next several months or years if granted parole in August 2025.

During a press conference in October 2024, former District Attorney Gascón stated, “There was no excuse for murder … because even if you get abused, the right path is to call police, seek help.” However, he acknowledged, “I believe they have paid their debt to society.”

Nathan Hochman was then sworn in as the county’s new DA in December 2024. Initially, Hochman stated he would need time to review the case files before making a decision. He later announced that his office had withdrawn the motion for resentencing, citing a lack of accountability and continued deception by those involved.

On May 13, 2025, during Lyle and Erik’s resentencing hearing, they were resentenced to 50 years to life in prison, making them eligible for parole. Their parole hearings are scheduled to take place on August 21 and 22, 2025.

If you or anyone you know has been sexually abused, call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673). A trained staff member will provide confidential, judgment-free support as well as local resources to assist in healing, recovering and more.

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance abuse, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
