Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1: The Journey From An Office Boy To A Superstar | Glamsham.com

The wait will end on October 2nd, with the release of the second part of the film, Kantara: Chapter 1. Ahead of the release, the film’s team arrived in Mumbai to promote the film. The trailer and song of this pan-India film were shown to the media. A comic book based on Kantara was also released on the occasion.

As the film team was in Mumbai, writer-director and actor of the film Kantara, Rishabh Shetty recalled his struggling days in Mumbai. He added, “Mumbai is special to me because in this city, in 2008, I was an office boy at a producer’s house in Andheri West. I used to drive the producer’s car. But cinema brought me here. This is the power of cinema.”

The first part of the film Kantara was released in 2022. Made at a cost of around ₹14 crore, the film grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide. The film also enjoyed considerable popularity in Hindi. Now, the second installment will follow a similar story, set in our country.

Rishab said, “When we were making the first Kantara, we didn’t think it would be such a huge success. But gradually, people started watching it, and the film became a huge hit. We are grateful to everyone who made Kantara such a big success. I hope you will give this film the same love.”

The film, Kantara Chapter 1, is based on mythology and depicts the story of Panjurli Deva and Guliga Deva. The film will also depict a fierce battle. The film was shot over a period of approximately 250 days. The trailer reveals that the film will feature stunning VFX and high-voltage action sequences, providing a grand cinematic experience for audiences.

Speaking about Kantara Chapter 1, Rishab Shetty said, “We’ve put in a lot of hard work into making this film. We’ve done a lot of research. From the costumes to the sound of the era the story is set in, everything has been researched.”

Actors like Rishab Shetty, Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah are playing the lead roles in the film Kantara. The film will be released pan-India and multi-language, including in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. It will also be released in Bengali and English.

Demon Slayer Sets Box Office Record as Him, Big Bold Beautiful Journey Flop Overseas

by jummy84 September 21, 2025

Two new Hollywood releases, Universal’s sports thriller “Him” and Sony’s romantic drama “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” were outright rejected by overseas audiences.

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell as strangers whose meet-cute takes them on the journey of a lifetime, flopped at the international box office with $4.5 million from 45 markets. Meanwhile the Jordan Peele-produced “Him,” a disturbing mind-bender about a football player with aspirations to be the greatest of all time, fumbled even harder with $400,000 from 25 territories. Both films were saddled with terrible reviews and disappointing audience scores.

“Him” at least started stronger at the domestic box office with $13.5 million, boosting the film’s global tally to $13.86 million. It carries a modest $27 million production budget. Justin Tipping directed “Him,” which stars Marlon Wayans as an aging quarterback who trains a young up-and coming football player (Tyriq Withers) to chilling consequences.

“Sports themes do not travel well overseas, and the sport in this film — American football — is uniquely American in its popularity,” says analyst David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. “But the picture cost a reasonable $27 million to make, so it can cover its costs on domestic business alone.”

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” however, crumbled in its North America debut as well with $3.5 million for a worldwide haul of $8 million. The film has yet to release in major markets like France, Italy and South Korea.

“The film should do better in foreign markets, but the production cost was high — that’s a big number to recoup,” Gross adds of “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.”

Luckily Sony is riding high with “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” which just became the highest-grossing anime film ever with $555 million globally. The film is backed by Sony-owned Crunchyroll in North America, the United Kingdom and Brazil, as well as Toho and Aniplex in Japan and other Asian markets. “Demon Slayer” topped overseas charts again with $36 million from markets where Sony’s Crunchyroll is handling the rollout. So far the film has earned a total of $451 million internationally and $104 million domestically. “Infinity Castle” is the first in planned three-film series about a boy who becomes a demon slayer to avenge his family and find a cure for his sister who was turned into a demon.

Universal, meanwhile, had slightly better luck overseas with “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale,” which added $8.3 million from 35 markets in its second weekend of release. The film, a continuation of the popular TV show, has generated $27.9 million overseas and $31.6 million domestically to date, bringing its global total to $59.5 million. The studio says those ticket sales are above 2022’s “Downton Abbey: A New Era” at the same point in its predecessor’s theatrical run. Neither film could reach the box office heights of the first cinematic feature, 2019’s “Downton Abbey,” which became a huge hit to the tune of $194.6 million globally.

‘Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ Bombs; ‘Demon Slayer’ No. 1

by jummy84 September 21, 2025
written by jummy84

SUNDAY AM: The slow weekend belongs to the second frame of Sony/Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle with $17.3M. Universal’s Him slowed down in its run to $13.5M for second place. One weekend, Sony is a rich man in Demon Slayer, and a poor man with A Big Bold Beautiful Journey which is crashing with $3.5M.

Demon Slayer spiked 62% in its second Saturday to $7.3M over its second Friday of $4.5M. Him went down on Saturday by -33% to $4.3M from a first Friday/previews of $6.4M. Critical reviews on Him and Big Bold Beautiful Journey were atrocious respectively at 29% and 37% with PostTrak on both movies in the low 60% range and 2 1/2 stars.

All titles look to be around $77.8M, which is down 48% from last weekend, yet only -4% off from a year ago when Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was still the thing in its third weekend with $25.9M and Paramount had the animated Transformers One which bowed to $24.6M.

SATURDAY AM: After two weekends of overperforming, the September box office steps on the brakes, down -49% from last weekend to roughly $77M. Sony/Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and Universal/Monkeypaw’s Him are arguably in a dead heat with $15M-$16M apiece— it’s still too early to call which one is No. 1 even though Sony and Universal have relegated themselves to No. 1 and No. 2.

Infinity Castle is playing exactly like an anime movie, completely front-loaded, with a second weekend drop at -77%, but as we told you, the highest grossing anime movie at the domestic box office is expected to cross $100M today.

Him won Friday with $6.47M and a C- CinemaScore, with Rotten Tomatoes ratings at 28% Critics, 58% audience score. Universal is calling the Jordan Peele produced movie at $15M in second currently, with an anticipated drop on Sunday due to NFL games of -37% for the football horror movie.

Here’s the sad news of the weekend, and everyone saw this coming: Sony’s play for female moviegoers with the Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell star-studded romance drama, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, is finding no road at the box office with $3.5M for the $50M studio acquisition in 6th place. The movie wasn’t developed or produced by Robbie’s LuckyChap. The Sony release is getting beaten by an animated movie and a horror film with a fresh face actor and 1990s comedian (Tyriq Withers and Marlon Wayans). Many sound the bell for original movies, which this project was, a hot title off The Black List, penned by Seth Reiss and directed by rising auteur Kogonada. However, what this shows is that star power alone attached to non-IP fare, can’t pull in moviegoers when its weighted down by poor critical reviews (this movie panned at 38% with great complaints over its pace), and not-so-hot audience scores with a 44% definite recommend and 2 1/2 stars on Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak as well as a B- CinemaScore. Oy.

That said, I understand that the stars and everyone involved had a beautiful experience making the film. In the end the movie didn’t mirror what the script was.

By comparison, the specialty adult summer play, A24’s Materialists, with Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal, looks like a blockbuster with an $11.3M domestic opening (and now $100M+ global gross for the net $20M movie). But that had better views at 79% certified fresh. Interestingly enough, Materialists and Big Bold Journey have the same audience exits of B- and mid 60% RT popcorn score.

To that point, some tell me that perhaps, Big Bold Beautiful Journey should have been positioned as a specialty play given its patina, versus a commercial mainstream romance movie. Luckily, the movie isn’t the lowest opening or wide break for either Robbie or Farrell. For Robbie, the movie is under the starts of such misfires Babylon ($3.6M) and Amsterdam ($6.4M) and for Farrell it’s under Seven Psychopaths ($4.2M opening) and above Voyagers ($1.4M).

Despite having a social media reach according to RelishMix at 266 million across TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube, which is 57% ahead of other romance movies (but 21% behind the Sony-Wayfarer title It Ends With Us which hit over 377 million on social), there’s a bad stink on Big Bold Beautiful Journey with the analytics corp noticing mixed-to-negative comments.

Reports RelishMix, “Some viewers smell sentimentality and algorithmic gloss. Skeptics tag the vibe as trailer-deep with lines like ‘This feels like a trailer for a fake movie’ and point to tonal saccharine with ‘Touchy feely picture… emotional diabetes.’ Comparisons skew cautionary with Black Mirror and even AI commercial jokes, plus a few drive-by age and body takes dragging the cast. Receipts land with ‘What Black Mirror episode is this?’ and ‘Looks like an AI generated commercial.’”

Him is 51%/49% men-to-women with a low definite recommend of 41%, but it’s horror, which gives it more mojo than Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Diversity demos are 36% Black, 34% Caucasian, 20% Latino and Hispanic and 6% Asian American. Men over 25 repped 33% of ticket buyers with women over 25 at 31%, men under 25 at 19% and women under 25 at 17% for the R-rated title. PLFs, which are split with Demon Slayer, are driving 37% of the weekend. An even play throughout the country for Him with notable touchdowns in the West, South Central, South and East after a slew of spots since August on football. Best gross in the nation so far comes from AMC Universal’s Citywalk Hollywood (CA) with close to $32K.

Big Bold Beautiful Journey saw 59% women with 44% women over 25 (who gave the movie its best grades at 71% on PostTrak). It looks like some guys got pulled into this movie as +1s with the second most-attending demo being men over 25 at 32%. This is further underscored by the stats that close to 40% of the pic’s ticket buyers came with a spouse/partner/boyfriend or girlfriend. Diversity demos are 58% Caucasian, 25% Latino and Hispanic, 8% Asian American and 5% Black. A handful of PLFs which only represent 12% of the weekend, I understand with West, Midwest and Mountain regions being where the bulk of the business is. AMC Grove is the top grossing venue so far this weekend with just under $12K.

Saturday AM estimates:

FRIDAY AM: Universal and Monkeypaw’s football horror movie Him did $2 million from previews that began at 2 p.m. Thursday. That number is just above Lionsgate’s preview take on Stephen King’s The Long Walk ($1.3M) a week ago, and Blumhouse’s Speak No Evil ($1.3M) a year ago. Him, which stars Marlon Wayans, Julia Fox and Tyriq Withers, is expected to open in the mid-teen millions this weekend; The Long Walk opened to $11.7M, while Speak No Evil did $11.4M in its first frame.

Critics aren’t sticking around in the stands for Him at 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, and last night’s audience wasn’t impressed at 59%. Yikes. We’ll see where this goes. Him was made for a net $27M.

Sony/Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is expected to stand tall in its second weekend with a take between $14M-$21M. The movie will share Imax screens with Him but hold onto PLFs. Pic’s first week ends at $87.4M after a $2.6M Thursday, down 26%. It’s already the highest-grossing anime movie of all time at the domestic box office, having surpassed 1999’s Pokemon from Warner Bros ($85.7M). Next, Demon Slayer will conquer securing $100M stateside, again a first for anime movie in the U.S. and Canada.

Columbia Pictures’ Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie romance A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, is not huge in its previews with $400,000 from Thursday early shows that began at 4 p.m. at 2737 locations. Critics had no patience for this one at 40% on Rotten Tomatoes. No audience score. Sony sees the opening at $10M, others see it much lower.

Top five for the week:

1.) Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle (Sony) 3,315 theaters, Thur $2.6M (-29% from Wed), Week $87.4M/Wk 1

2.) Conjuring: Last Rites (NL) 3,802 theaters, Thurs $1.56M (-8%), Week $33.2M (-68%), Total $138.2M/Wk 2

3.) Downton Abbey: Grand Finale (Foc) 3,694 theaters, Thurs $1.38M (-16%), Week $25.3M/Wk 1

'A Big Bold Beautiful Journey' Review: Kogonada's Big, Bold Misfire

‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ Review: Kogonada’s Big, Bold Misfire

by jummy84 September 16, 2025
written by jummy84

That Kogonada is neither a writer nor editor credited on his third feature is the first worrying road sign on this “Big Bold Beautiful Journey,” roles he maintained on both the coolly observed, intellectual romance “Columbus” and the cozy, ruminative AI sci-fi “After Yang.”

His latest film, a drawn-out, time-hopping romance between Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie as script-y stick figures trapped by a sentient rental car into literally driving down the memory lane of their most formative episodes, features both embarrassingly earnest writing and nonsensical, incoherent editing. Perhaps someone could have asked the film’s director to step away from the camera and in on either front.

Evan Shapiro at Storytellers during the 2022 Tribeca Festival

Pairing Kogonada with screenwriter Seth Reiss’ (“The Menu”) disaster-bound dump truck of cliches feels like an insult to and an underestimation of the Cannes-crowned filmmaker’s prior proven bona fides: It’s not a drama, it’s not a comedy, it’s not a romance, but it’s kind of a musical at one point? That much I know is true.

Less discernible human characters than the shapes of people who look like them, David (Colin Farrell) and Sarah (Margot Robbie) are strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding they are both attending stag. That the wedding takes place in a hotel called La Strada and on a very rainy day tells you that we are in a fanciful la-la land of cutesy cinematic references and a world in which a contrived meet-cute congeals around coincidences and pastels. Robbie, styled in a newsboy cap and oversized red coat, looks like she just came back from a semester abroad living in Soho, Londontown.

The costumes and production design are all Jacques Demy by way of Anthropologie, color-popped to impose personality on the personality-less (and with Bright Eyes and Mitski on the soundtrack to reinforce the indie tweeness). Beyond just looking cheap and CW-adjacent, the styling only reinforces the level of artifice and unwillingness to go deeper than skin or sickly cotton-candy-sweet surfaces.

David and Sarah, across nearly two testing hours that unfold at the pace you imagine being forced to relive your life’s most painful moments on the road to rediscovering your inner manic pixie dream child would, aren’t revealed to have any dreams of their own beyond the failed quest for love. (Though David’s pasted-on childhood fondness for musicals implies something adjacent to character development here.)

‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey‘©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection

They are, rather, cut-outs of rom-com archetypes: David is a sad, lonely man whose father (Hamish Linklater) recently died, and Sarah is a self-confessed serial cheater whose mother (Lily Rabe, Linklater’s wife and a welcome respite, given her increasing likeness to her mother, the late Jill Clayburgh) died when she was a college freshman screwing her professor.

Back up a bit, though the connective tissue is missing here: In the opening sequence, David’s parked car gets the dreaded yellow boot due to unpaid parking tickets, a note pasted curbside directing him to an ominous rental car company that turns out to be operated out of a warehouse by an asleep-at-the-wheel Kevin Kline and cloyingly smirky Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It’s the car David takes to the wedding, and the car whose GPS, when David eventually offers Sarah a ride, that promises them both a “big bold beautiful journey,” a phrase they are meant to say back to it like some kind of greeting-card-tailored, reverse “there’s no place like home.” Said car then takes them on said journey, where each stop is outfitted with a portal-like door that allows them to enter into past milestones: break-ups, significant deaths, soul-shifting encounters with art.

The most charming sequences allows the 49-year-old Colin Farrell to dust off his song and dance skills in a performance, as his adolescent David self, in a school production of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” Sarah stands up from the audience to fill in the lyrics after David, confronting his then childhood girlfriend, grinds the performance to an auditorium-freezing halt. There’s another stridently mawkish sequence in which David and Sarah both re-experience their most wounding breakups — David with a woman he was engaged to (played by Sarah Gadon) and Sarah with a cableknit-sweater-clad Billy Magnussen, whom she left and ghosted in the middle of the night — in tandem.

‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection

The problem here is that David and Sarah learn or glean nothing meaningful or revelatory in rehashing old traumas; much like filmmakers, they’re observing the material as if moving slides on a Kodak wheel rather than actually engaging with them. Whereas in a movie like “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” Joel and Clementine replayed and relived the past to understand where they’ve gone wrong in the present, David and Sarah’s only lesson learned here is that they apparently belong together romantically after all, despite his mopiness and tendency toward shutting people out, and her lifelong allergy to monogamy and bohemianism. It’s unfortunate, too, that the actors seem to have an allergy to each other in the sparks department, with about as much chemistry as that between two walls that happen to be facing each other.

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” suffers from the fact that Kogonada, who got his start crafting online video essay analyses of his favorite films and TV shows before debuting with “Columbus” at Sundance 2017 and taking “After Yang” to Cannes in 2021, has no personal stamp on the project. This film is like a splotchy watercolor of vaguely blotted emotions next to the pointilist emotional precision of his prior two films.

Reiss’ script was a Black List find that either wasn’t reworked enough by committee or so sanded down in the studio churn that all personality was drained in the process. Cinematographer Benjamin Loeb (“Pieces of a Woman,” “Dream Scenario,” “Mandy”) shoots the film more like a cheery extended ad campaign for the AI-powered vehicle driving the characters toward catharsis, and there’s certainly nothing romantic about a movie that features multiple moments of cringe-in-your-seat Burger King product placement.

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” is miscalculated as a romance and a fantasy, and while I’m loath to blame a craftsman as intelligent as Kogonada entirely for the outcome, he did, after all, agree to direct this lousy script. A big, bold, beautiful bore indeed.

Grade: D+

“A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” opens in theaters from Sony Pictures on Friday, September 19.

Charlie Sheen’s career has spanned decades, from his early breakthrough performances in iconic films like 1986’s Platoon and 1987’s Wall Street to his unforgettable portrayal of the irreverent Charlie Harper on the sitcom Two and a Half Men.

Beyond his on-screen presence, the son of iconic actor Martin Sheen has shown resilience and an ability to bounce back from personal challenges, including an HIV diagnosis. Charlie’s disclosure of his disease put HIV in the public discourse and made the actor one of the most famous people in the world to be openly living with HIV.

His storyline was not without controversy, though. Several women alleged that he failed to disclose his status and put them at risk, per TMZ.  In August 2022, Charlie settled a 2017 lawsuit filed by an ex-girlfriend who alleged he knowingly exposed her to HIV during sex. As part of the settlement, the actor agreed to pay the woman a total of $120,000, delivered in monthly installments of $10,000, reported TMZ, which obtained the legal documents.

Of course, at the time of his HIV disclosure, attention turned toward his ex-wife Denise Richards. The actress told Access Hollywood at the time that neither she, nor her two daughters that she shares with Charlie, Sam and Lola, were infected with the incurable disease. She insisted that Charlie contracted HIV after they divorced in November 2006, and that they had “not been intimate” since.

While Charlie continues to entertain the masses — he has a guest appearance on the upcoming comedy How To Be A Bookie — let’s learn more about his health battle, below.

Charlie Sheen Was Diagnosed With HIV

In a bold revelation in November 2015 on the Today Show, Charlie opened up about his HIV-positive status, disclosing that he’d been living with the virus for the past four years. “It started with what I thought was a series of crushing headaches,” he told Matt Lauer. “I thought I had a brain tumor. I thought it was over.”

The Major League didn’t hold back as he spilled more details, revealing that he had paid upwards of $10 million to sexual partners in order to keep his disease secret, and had been the target of “shakedowns” for more money.

“What people forget is that that’s money they’re taking from my children,” he told Matt about the “shakedowns.” “I trusted them and they were deep in my inner circle, and I thought they could be helpful. My trust turned to their treason.”

Claiming to have had unprotected escapades with some partners post-diagnosis, Charlie also made it clear that he took precautions to prevent transmission. He insisted that he’d been transparent with his sexual partners, giving them the info on his diagnosis prior to sexual endeavors.

He also revealed how the conversation about his diagnosis went with his eldest daughter, Sam. “It hit her hard, but she recovered. She’s tough like her dad,” he said. “I said, ‘I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner, but it didn’t seem like you could do anything for me and I didn’t want to burden you with all the stress.’ But she was a rock star about it.”

At the end of the interview, Charlie said he hoped by going public with the diagnosis, it would help dispel the stigma of HIV. “I have a responsibility now to better myself and to help a lot of other people and hopefully with what we’re doing today others will come forward and say, ‘Thanks, Charlie,’” he divulged.

What Is HIV?

HIV, short for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a retrovirus that attacks the immune system, specifically targeting CD4 cells (also known as T-helper cells), a crucial component of the body’s defense mechanism, per the Mayo Clinic.  This virus can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition that severely weakens the immune system, leaving the body vulnerable to opportunistic infections and certain types of cancer.

HIV is primarily transmitted through specific body fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. Common modes of transmission include unprotected sexual intercourse, sharing needles or syringes contaminated with the virus, and transmission from an HIV-positive mother to her child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding.

While there is no cure for HIV, significant progress has been made in managing the virus. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has proven highly effective in controlling HIV replication, slowing down the progression of the disease, and significantly improving the life expectancy and quality of life for people living with HIV.

To prevent the spread of the virus, practicing safe sex, using sterile needles, and seeking HIV testing and counseling are critical.

How Long Has Charlie Sheen Been Sick?

When Charlie revealed to the world that he was HIV positive in 2015, he said he had been living with the disease for four years. In some positive news, his announcement likely played a huge part in boosting sales of home HIV test kits.  By some counts, HIV test sales jumped up to 95% immediately after the 2015 announcement and remained as high as 60% up to a month later, per TMZ. “It’s exciting, and it’s great to be of service at that level,” he told the outlet.

How Is Charlie Sheen Doing Now?

Charlie provided an update on his health, saying he switched medicines and found great success. “I think about how I felt on the day [I took the older regimen] and how I feel today. Wow. Talk about a transformation,” he previously told DailyMail. “One minute you’re on the road to perdition, the next you’re on the road to providence. It’s amazing.” He also said his previous HIV medication left him with “borderline dementia.”

Around the same time in 2017, he opened up about his revelation post-diagnosis. “The day I was diagnosed, I immediately wanted to eat a bullet,” the actor told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America. “But my mom was there. I wouldn’t do that in front of her or let her find me to clean up that mess.”

“But then, something else came over me. They gave me a handful of pills and said, ‘You can go home now, and you’re going to live,’” Sheen added. “If I was there with, you know, brain cancer or, or, a stomach thing, or some meningitis, we wouldn’t be sitting here right now.”

“I’m so grateful for what was available when it happened and even more grateful for what’s available right now, when I’m, I’m in the middle of it, you know?” He added that some days “are better than others. But, but most days are pretty frickin’ cool.”

In 2023, Charlie opened up to PEOPLE about his health, focusing on his past struggle with addiction.

“Next month I’ll be six years sober. I have a very consistent lifestyle now,” he noted. “For the longest time, I had the best work reputation. I was the first to arrive, last to leave, when in doubt, I would over prepare. I would just check every box. And then that went away. So, I was really excited about being that guy again.”

Forensic to AKG, Mansi Bagla continues her bold cinematic journey

In an era where filmmakers and producers lean towards films for audience, box office performance, and commercial advantages, Mansi Bagla is solely emphasising emotions, thrill, and purely impact-driven storylines that justify the audience’s intent to visit the theatres or press play on OTT platforms. Though she makes selective choices of films to produce, she breathes life into novel plots, offers opportunities to fresh talent, and serves something entirely different for the audiences to remember.

Mansi Bagla, Producer, Creator Drive to Back Films That Make Noise

In 2022, Mansi produced Forensic, an engaging thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat with each twist & turn and suspense. While many would expect a female producer to play it safe with predictable plots, Mansi proved that she’s not someone who’d like to walk that path. Through her own banner, Mini Films, she backed a film that got the audience tingling about thrilling plots. At times when predictable romances and actioners were dominating the screens, viewers found Forensic as a breath of fresh air. Earlier, the term ‘forensic’ was widely used in CID, but after the release of the Vikrant Massey starrer, it received wide acceptance among the audience.

Things were never easy for Mansi Bagla, but she kept defying the odds. From humble beginnings as a homemaker to stepping into films as a producer, backing an unpredictable film like Forensic and getting a production banner named after her nickname ‘Mini’, Mansi has come far as a professional filmmaker without any Godfather or industry support. Further, she has also carved her space in the fashion world by walking the ramp for Neeta Lulla and Shaina NC at the well-known Bombay Times Fashion Week. Despite gaining prominence as a mindful producer and creator and establishing her mettle, Mansi chooses to stay away from the camera flashes, and instead, she likes to dedicate herself to the religion of art – Films.

In the current era, where the essence of love is fading away and the new generation is finding it challenging to understand the precious feeling, Mansi returned to the screens with her latest release, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, as its creator and writer. Through Mini Films, she wrote and backed a musical love story purely layered with emotions, heart, life, longing, and focused on the thin line between love and romance. When filmmakers latched onto the trend of massy projects and unbelievably larger-than-life spectacles, Mansi Bagla cleared the air by tapping into something deep and realistic – emotions. She eliminated the extra drama and fuss and bankrolled a film that simply made the viewers feel.

She took the bold step by launching fresh face Shanaya Kapoor and pairing her with the dynamic star, Vikrant Massey. A risky combination at first – but the positive reception proved that the risk paid off! When producers were thinking twice to create love stories due to box-office volatility, Mansi proved that well-written and well-executed love stories pay off! After seeing that audiences are returning to the theatres to experience love the Bollywood way, many filmmakers are now walking on the path – with a string of romantic spectacles already released and many in the pipeline. Going by the changing times and the return of romance to the screens, it’d be safe to say that Mansi Bagla bridged the mindset gap.

Thrillers make the audience stay curious about films, and romances unite people. Considering that Mansi Bagla has tapped into both spaces, she’s proven that she understands the language of the new-age audience and is keen on being the creative mind behind films that speak volumes. On the workfront, Mansi has an interesting pipeline or work coming up next. Currently, she is working on scripts and polishing them to ignite the screens once again!

Producer and television pioneer Ekta Kapoor continued her long-standing tradition of visiting Mumbai’s iconic Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi. Known for her deep devotion to Lord Ganesha, Kapoor not only welcomes Ganpati Bappa into her home each year but also ensures a special darshan at the famed pandal. Sharing glimpses of her visit on Instagram, she captioned her post with heartfelt devotion: “LALBAUG CHA RAJA!!!! Bhappaaaaaaaaa.” The message touched the hearts of fans who generally connect her remarkable journey to her religious background.

Celebrating a Career Milestone
This year’s tour has particular significance as Kapoor celebrates three decades in show business. Over the last 30 years, she has revolutionized Indian television, pioneered the era of daily soaps, and created one of the most powerful production houses in India. Her 30-year odyssey, experienced through imagination and re-invention, continues to inspire countless generations of viewers.

National Award Honour
After her own celebratory festivities, Kapoor had also achieved a career-defining moment herself with her first National Award for co-producing Kathal. The Netflix satire, celebrated for marrying comedy and social commentary, showed her ability to provide support for pathbreaking and socially relevant content in addition to traditional work.

Exciting Line-Up of Projects
Far from slowing down, Kapoor has a massive slate of projects in the works. These include:
VVAN, a mythological extravaganza starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, co-produced with TVF. Bhooth Bangla, Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy starring Akshay Kumar.
A re-launch of old drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, bringing back one of Indian television’s most iconic shows to a new generation.

Faith Anchoring Storytelling
For Kapoor, religion and storytelling are inextricably linked. Her yearly round trip to Lalbaugcha Raja is not merely a matter of personal faith but also renewal—a sentiment befitting as she takes the plunge again into another decade of content creation.

Shraddha Kapoor is recognised for her roles in films such as Aashiqui 2, Haider, Stree, and Chhichhore. Shraddha Kapoor revealed on Instagram that her LinkedIn account has been flagged as fake. She is also the co-founder of a jewellery brand.

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor recently shared her concern over her LinkedIn account, as LinkedIn flagged it as a fake account. Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor encountered an unexpected issue while setting up her LinkedIn account. She revealed that her profile was mistakenly flagged as “fake” and reached out on Instagram, requesting that LinkedIn resolve the matter.

Shraddha Kapoor’s LinkedIn account flagged

The 38-year-old actor revealed on her Instagram story Saturday that she has been experiencing difficulties sharing her entrepreneurial journey on the networking platform, tagging it in her post. She wrote, “Dear LinkedIn @linkedin_in, I’m not being able to use my own account because LinkedIn thinks it’s fake. Can someone please help me?”

“The account is made, premium and verified but no one else can see it. Want to start sharing my entrepreneurial journey, getting an account itself has become a journey,” the actor added.

Shraddha Kapoor’s entrepreneurial journey

Shraddha Kapoor is the co-founder and brand ambassador of the jewellery brand Palmonas. Established in 2022, she holds the position of the brand’s third co-founder.

Earlier this year, the jewellery brand drew significant attention with its appearance on Shark Tank India Season 4. While Shraddha herself did not pitch to the sharks, her co-founders successfully secured ₹1.26 crore in funding from Namita Thapar, Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, and Ritesh Agarwal, Founder of OYO.  In addition, the brand raised ₹55 crore in its debut institutional funding round, led by Vertex Ventures, according to Entrackr.

Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming films

On the film front, Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in Stree 2, which released on August 15, 2024, and became a box office hit, grossing ₹857.15 crore worldwide. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film also starred Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. Serving as a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, the makers have already announced the third installment of the franchise, scheduled for release in 2027.

Earlier, Shraddha had shared that she had signed three new films, though she hasn’t officially announced them yet. Rumours suggest she might reunite on-screen with Aditya Roy Kapur in a romantic drama, following their hit pairing in Aashiqui 2. Additionally, she is reportedly set to star in director Laxman Uttekar’s upcoming project, described as a period musical, with Shraddha in the lead role. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan.
