Karan Singh Grover On Battling Depression

According to Hindustan Times, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Karan Singh Grover reflected on battling depression. He shared, “There is a reason why I want to talk about mental health. Because I have lived it, depression can be caused because of many reasons, and the roots need to be identified. It has been a difficult journey, maybe not for me but for my loved ones, because I got great help and support from them. Bipasha was there. It is something that we need to speak about.”

Karan Singh Grover’s Take On Depression

“It is something that we need to accept, and it is something that we need to let go. It is essential that everyone speaks about it. We all go through it at some level or the other, running into things, trying to make money, and all the stress that causes a lot of pressure in our minds, which is not supposed to be there. This is not life; there is a lot more to it,” Karan added.

Harman Baweja Turns A Year Older: Tracing His Remarkable Journey From MRS To Perusu As A Visionary Producer

Harman Baweja Birthday Special: Tracing His Remarkable Journey From MRS To Perusu As A Visionary Producer

by jummy84 November 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Harman Baweja turns a year older today, and this year truly shows the kind of producer he’s becoming someone who backs stories with heart, honesty, and real intent. Each film he supported brought something fresh to the table, whether it was a social message, an emotional journey, or a bold creative choice. Here’s a look at the projects that shaped his year:

HAQ

A hard-hitting drama that follows a woman’s fight for justice in a system stacked against her. The film traces how she navigates pressure, bias, and power, showing how truth gets pushed aside when patriarchy takes over. Haq captures her emotional battle with a raw, grounded approach that stayed with audiences long after they left the theatre.

MRS

A quiet but powerful story that looks at the invisible emotional and domestic labour women carry within marriage. Through the everyday life of a newly married woman, the film shows how suffocating routine, expectations, and silence can be. Mrs. became a relatable and honest reflection of what many women go through behind closed doors.

Bhagwat – Chapter 1: Raakshas

A bold creative leap that blends mythology with psychology. The film dives into the old conflict of good versus evil but flips it by exploring the darkness within the human mind. With strong performances and a layered approach, it questions who the real “raakshas” is — the outer villain or the one hidden inside us.

Perusu

A quirky Tamil dark comedy that brought an unexpected flavour to Harman’s slate. The story revolves around a family trying to hide a bizarre truth about their father’s sudden death, leading to chaotic cover-ups and hilarious twists. Perusu stands out for its offbeat humour and bold storytelling style.

Chidiya Udd

A gritty, emotional story that follows 20-year-old Seher from Rajasthan, caught between the Mumbai underworld and the harsh realities of the red-light district. The film shows her struggle to survive in a world built to break her, but also her fierce determination to live life on her own terms. It shines a light on the dark corners of society while keeping Seher’s spirit and fight at the centre.

Millie Bobby Brown hails ‘wonderful’ Stranger Things journey

11 November 2025

Millie Bobby Brown’s Stranger Things experience has been “wonderful”.

Millie Bobby Brown has grown up on the TV show

The 21-year-old actress has played Eleven in the Netflix series since 2016, and Millie admits that she’s developed a strong connection to her on-screen character.

She told Extra: “It’s amazing. I mean, it’s been such a wonderful journey.

“It’s been half my life … I don’t know what my life would be without the show. It’s just been it’s been so impactful to me and yeah, it’s very surreal to be here and talking about the last season, but I’m just so blessed and so grateful that I was able to be a part of it.”

Millie feels as though she’s actually grown with her character.

The actress said: “She’s just grown up with me. Like, we started this together.

“I developed her and she’s become a part of me, but not through choice. It’s almost like just it’s just inherent because I was so young and so impressionable. So, a part of her will always be a part of me. I’m very grateful for that.”

Millie also offered an insight into her character’s fortunes in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.

The actress explained: “This season definitely pushed me.

“You know, she’s definitely a lot stronger than she’s ever been and she’s definitely more opinionated and … has a stronger point of view, which I really admire and I’m excited for audiences to see her stronger and in more of a human way and less [in] a … superhero way.”

Meanwhile, Noah Schnapp – Millie’s co-star – has teased details of season five, too.

The 21-year-old actor also revealed that he loved the experience of working with Millie.

Noah – who plays Will Byers in the Netflix show – shared: “It was such an honour to have that opportunity in the final season to showcase a different side of Will that I’d never played before. And it’s just been such a joy, and I love getting to share the screen with this pretty girl.”

Chubby Checker's Unexpected Journey Into Psychedelia
Music

Chubby Checker’s Unexpected Journey Into Psychedelia

by jummy84 November 7, 2025
written by jummy84

At first listen, you may think you’re hearing unreleased music from Arthur Lee and Love. Or more accurately, an outtake from their album False Start with a less-than-on-top-of-his-game Jimi Hendrix on guitar, something akin to their collaboration on that record’s opener, “Everlasting First”. However, what’s coming through is “Stoned in the Bathroom”. It’s a track from Chequered!, the obscure, long-out-of-print “psychedelic” album waxed in 1971 by the most unlikely musician: Chubby Checker, the man behind the 1960 hit that popularized a dance craze, “The Twist”.

When Checker is inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on 8th November, chances are you won’t hear much, if anything, about it, and that is even though it’s a top-rate collection. It’s a guilty pleasure for veteran musicians like Throwing Muses‘ Kristin Hersh and Lenny Kaye, as well as younger players like Peter Negroponte, the drummer for the psych-punk band Guerilla Toss.

Checker’s stylistic U-turn occurred when he teamed up with Ed Chalpin. He was the notorious producer who sued Jimi Hendrix in 1968, seeking to claim rights to his new musical riches under a three-year, one-dollar contract the guitarist had signed as a sideman during a 1965 recording session.

The 11-track album’s creation is shrouded in mystery, with few firm details about where it was recorded (some say Holland or Norway, while others claim New York, or both) or the studio musicians who played on it. In another turnabout, Checker penned all but one of the record’s songs. Originally titled Chequered!, it was first released only in Europe and sold poorly. Subsequent rereleases and bootlegs, with titles such as New Revelation and The Other Side of Chubby Checker, met a similar fate until a minor critical notice emerged with their 2012 reissue on Sunbeam Records.

Chequered! is chock-full of the musical and lyrical touchstones of late 1960s psychedelia – screaming Hammond organ, Hendrix-styled fuzz and wah-wah guitaring, thunderous drumming, and abundant appearances of the words “trippin’” and “high”.

“How Does It Feel?” is seven-plus minutes of country-gospel swing, accented with overdriven organ and lyrical proclamations like “how does it feel when you’re trippin’ with somebody else”. In “My Mind”, Chubby and the band sound like a fusion of Iron Butterfly and the Chambers Brothers. Checker does a call-and-response with thick fuzz-toned guitars, deploying grunts and squeals as he returns to the refrain “my mind comes from a high place”.

“Stoned in the Bathroom” features a carnivalesque organ and a military snare drum march as Chubby sings about being in this altered state in his bathroom on a Sunday afternoon. “No Need to Get So Heavy” is a boogie that sounds like the bastard offspring of Canned Heat and early Deep Purple, while “Slow Lovin’” is a sludgy blues akin to Grand Funk. “He Died” is a funereal lament—the story of Jesus’ crucifixion—which wouldn’t sound out of place on 666, the apocalyptic concept album by proto-prog rockers Aphrodite’s Child.

Throwing Muses’ Kristin Hersh has been a long-time fan since she became acquainted with the record via this 2012 reissue. “A fellow musician who knew I hated industry crap gave me a CD of it, saying, ‘Trust me on this one,’” says Hersh. “As for the mythology of the album, I heard Chubby went a bit mad, moved to Holland, discovered weed and Hendrix, and this was the result.”

The opener, “Goodbye Victoria”, is one of Hersh’s favorites, one she plans to cover with her noise rock band, 50 Foot Wave. “This song is a special moment in music,” says Hersh. “We’re so used to being sold fake passion that when you hear the real thing like this, someone lost on Earth and in sound, it hits really deep.”

Hersh has also witnessed the reaction to Chubby’s virtually unknown psych music when it’s deployed on an unsuspecting audience. “Once I guest DJ’d at a club in Edinburgh and played this record start to finish,” continues Hersh. “It had everybody on the dance floor. I had 50 drinks bought for me that night, all balanced precariously next to the turntable.”

Just how obscure was Chequered! at the time of its release? It’s one that even slipped unnoticed by one of rock’s most knowledgeable authorities, musician/author/producer Lenny Kaye. “I never knew it existed, even though I was working in a record store and writing about music at the time of its initial release,” adds Kaye. “It’s a strange album, almost as if Chubby had entered an alternative universe and turned into a credible soul singer with overtones of Curtis Mayfield and Baby Huey, escaping the caricature as a dance choreographer. It recreates the quasi-psychedelic soundscape of the late 1960s but was overlooked to the point of invisibility.”

New York drummer Dave Donen had the unique opportunity to both see Chubby perform his psychedelic album live and then play with his band a few years later. “At the time I was playing with people like Slim Harpo and Chuck Berry and knew the owner of Ungano’s, so I would get in free every weekend to see new bands like Free and Fleetwood Mac,” says Donen. “When I heard Chubby was going to be there, I went, thinking it would be a bit of a laugh.”

“What I saw was a very different Chubby,” continues Donen. “He was dressed in a psychedelic shirt and pants with colorful scarves and a headband, playing thunderously heavy music, a bit of cliched psychedelia, and, yes, he didn’t play ‘The Twist’ even though the audience kept calling for it.” Donen continues: “Ironically, four years later, I auditioned for and toured with his band for six months.  The set list was all rock ‘n’ roll oldies, with no psych or headband in sight.”

Klemen Breznikar, the founder of It’s Psychedelic Baby Magazine, is another fan. “From the first needle drop, you can feel this album has a remarkable momentum. It’s especially fascinating to compare it to his early 1960s recordings and see how he developed into a guy who wrote songs with a sort of streetwise soul with psych overtones.”

Peter Negroponte, drummer for the New York art rockers Guerilla Toss, concurs. “This is a compelling listen, perhaps a forgotten psychedelic gem. It’s full of big riffs, ripping organ, fuzzy guitars, and his attempt at socially relevant lyrics. There are some strong songs here, for sure, like ‘My Mind’ and ‘Stoned in the Bathroom.’”

As for Checker, his opinions on the album remain mysterious. He reportedly distanced himself from it soon after its release. In fact, according to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and his management, he will not be present at the induction event.

On Checker’s brief psychedelic chapter, Lenny Kaye offers a final word. “I have to applaud Chubby for trying something unexpected,” concludes Kaye. “Too bad it had to wait half a century to be unearthed.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Journey in Showbiz So Far

by jummy84 November 1, 2025
written by jummy84

There are stars, and then there’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a name that carries its own kind of grace. Over the years, she has become more than an actress or a beauty queen; she’s become a symbol of poise, determination, and effortless elegance. Born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, Karnataka, Aishwarya’s story is one of quiet ambition. She didn’t chase fame, it found her, drawn by her intelligence, charm, and that unmistakable spark in her eyes.
Before she ever stepped in front of a movie camera, she had already won over the world. In 1994, at just 21, she was crowned Miss World, carrying India’s name across continents. That victory wasn’t just about a crown, but it was about the confidence and grace with which she represented her country. Even then, there was something deeply dignified about her, a sense that she was destined for far more than beauty pageants. That moment marked the beginning of a journey that would blend art, ambition, and an ageless kind of grace.
From Ramp to Reel

After her Miss World win, it was only natural for Aishwarya to enter films. Her first appearance was in the Tamil film Iruvar (1997), directed by Mani Ratnam, a filmmaker known for bringing out depth in his characters. The same year, she made her Bollywood debut with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. While her early films didn’t all become hits, there was no doubt that she had screen presence, the kind that couldn’t be ignored. People noticed her expressions, her elegance, and the quiet dignity she brought to her performances.

Then came Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a film that completely changed everything for her. As Nandini, she captured the innocence, passion, and heartbreak of love with such sincerity that audiences couldn’t look away. The chemistry between her and Salman Khan became the talk of the town, but more than that, Aishwarya was now being recognized as a serious actress. The film earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress and marked the beginning of her golden era in Bollywood.
Success and Stardom

In the early 2000s, Aishwarya continued to prove she was more than just a pretty face. With films like Taal (1999), Devdas (2002), Guru (2007), and Jodhaa Akbar (2008), she showed incredible range, from emotional depth to strong willpower. Her portrayal of Paro in Devdas was unforgettable. The film, a grand Bhansali classic, premiered at Cannes and won her global acclaim. Even the critics who once doubted her acting had to admit that Aishwarya had truly arrived, and how.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Journey of Grace and Stardom

One of the reasons Aishwarya became so admired was her ability to blend old-school grace with modern ambition. She could play a royal queen or a modern woman with equal conviction. Off-screen, she carried herself with dignity, never letting controversies define her. Even as fame grew, she stayed grounded, something that made people respect her even more.
Stepping into Hollywood

While most Indian actors were still focused on making it big at home, Aishwarya had her eyes set on the world. She became one of the first major Bollywood stars to cross over to Hollywood. Her first international film, Bride & Prejudice (2004), directed by Gurinder Chadha, brought her global recognition. She later appeared in The Mistress of Spices (2005), The Last Legion (2007), and The Pink Panther 2 (2009).

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Journey of Grace and Stardom

Though these projects varied in success, Aishwarya’s presence in them mattered, she represented India on an international platform at a time when Bollywood was still new to global audiences. Western media often described her as the most beautiful woman in the world, and she carried that title with a quiet confidence that never felt arrogant.

Queen of Cannes

No journey of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is complete without mentioning Cannes. She made her first appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2002 when Devdas was screened there, and since then, she has been a regular. Over the years, her Cannes looks have become iconic. Whether it was her golden Michael Cinco gown, her butterfly-inspired ensembles, or her elegant saris, she always made heads turn.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Journey of Grace and Stardom
But Cannes wasn’t just about fashion for her, it was about representation. She was one of the first Indian women to walk that red carpet proudly as herself, not as a plus-one or novelty. She opened doors for so many others who came after her, proving that Indian cinema belonged on the global stage too.

Love, Family, and Balance

In 2007, Aishwarya married actor Abhishek Bachchan in a beautiful, much-talked-about ceremony. Together, they became one of Bollywood’s most admired couples. In 2011, they welcomed their daughter Aaradhya, and Aishwarya gracefully took a step back from the spotlight to focus on motherhood. But when she returned to films with Jazbaa (2015) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), it felt like she’d never left. Her performances were mature, layered, and carried the wisdom of experience.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Journey of Grace and Stardom
Even today, she continues to make selective but impactful appearances, from films to fashion shows. What stands out is her consistency. Through every phase, Aishwarya has remained true to herself, her elegance, confidence, and kindness. She represents a rare mix of timeless beauty and lasting talent.
After all these years, she has proven time and time again that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan isn’t just a name, she’s a legacy. From a young girl in Mangalore with big dreams to an international icon representing India on the world stage, her story is one of passion, perseverance, and grace. She’s shown that true success isn’t just about fame, it’s about how you carry it, how you evolve, and how you stay grounded through it all.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Journey of Grace and Stardom

As she celebrates another year of her incredible life and career, one thing is clear, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will always be more than just a star. She’s an emotion, a symbol of beauty with substance, and an inspiration to generations who dare to dream big while staying humble.

Happy Birthday, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!

“Savor every minute of this journey.” Tribeca Films has just debuted a new documentary film titled 26.2, made by filmmaker Nicolas Heller – best known as the runner “New York Nico” on social media. The full title for it is Journey to the Finish Line of the NYC Marathon and the 34-minute short doc is out now to watch (view below). 26.2 follows four tenacious New Yorkers in the lead-up to the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon. A long time superfan of the race, Nicolas was inspired by individual stories & motivations of each runner (and walker) who chooses to participate in one of the world’s largest annual marathons. This is their honest story. “Between them, they’ve survived a stroke, cancer, a life-changing house fire, & finishing dead last in the 2023 race. They’re not professional runners. They’re people who’ve been knocked down and decided to keep moving. This isn’t a story about running fast. It’s a story about getting there at all.” This reminds me of another doc called 26.2 to Life, about a marathon inside of a prison. And this year’s other doc on running called Learning to Fly. 26.2 is another engaging & wholesome film that should inspire everyone.

Enjoy New York Nico’s doc 26.2: Journey to the Finish Line of the NYC Marathon, from YouTube:

26.2: Journey to the Finish Line of the NYC Marathon Poster

The documentary 26.2 follows four New Yorkers training for the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon: a retired math teacher, an NYPD administrative aide, a public defender, and an elevator mechanic. Between them, they’ve survived a stroke, cancer, a life-changing house fire, and finishing dead last in 2023. This isn’t a story about running fast… It’s a story about getting there at all. Directed by Nicolas Heller, also known as @newyorknico, the film was inspired by his coverage of the NYC Marathon finish line. Created with support from New York Road Runners, and featuring NYRR’s Team Inspire. 26.2: Journey to the Finish Line of the NYC Marathon is directed by the runner / filmmaker Nicolas Heller, who has also directed quite a few other short films previously. Produced by m ss ng p eces, E 89th Street Productions, and Heller Films. This recently premiered in New York City at an event but not at any festivals, as far as we know. Tribeca will debut Heller’s 26.2 doc directly on YouTube – you can watch it above anytime. Thoughts?

Aamir Khan’s Daughter Ira Khan Opens Up About Her Emotional Journey To Recovery – A Must-Read! | Glamsham.com

written by jummy84

Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira Khan recently shared a heartfelt Instagram post, announcing that she has “graduated” from therapy after eight years of intensive psychoanalysis, earning praise from fans for her candid discussion on mental health. Reflecting on her journey, Ira expressed excitement and curiosity about the future, embracing the new chapter of her life with openness and self-awareness.

“I’m excited for the days to come. And the things ahead. Not any specific thing. Lots of things. All things. Generally. Is this how things were before? Is this how non-illness life is?” she wrote, highlighting the unfamiliar yet liberating experience of being on her own and learning to accept it without overthinking. “Feels unusual. Sometimes I don’t know what to make of it. Then I remember I don’t have to make anything of it. Just live it,” she added. Her husband, Nupur Shikhare, and cousin, Zayn Marie, showed support with red heart emojis, while fans lauded her honesty.

Ira detailed her therapy journey, revealing that she attended sessions three times a week over eight years. While she continues her medication, her therapist believes she is now capable of managing independently. “On 13th October, I had my last therapy session. After 3 times a week—for 8 years of psychoanalysis—I’m no longer in therapy. Not being in therapy anymore means my therapist and I felt confident that I had learnt a bunch of things, started living my life in a more helpful manner, and I’d be able to manage on my own—responsibly taking care of myself and remembering to have fun in life!” she explained

Ira Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Reena Dutta, has a brother, Junaid Khan, and has often used her platform to advocate for mental health awareness.

Rs 40 Crore And Counting: Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’s Box Office Journey Continues | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s latest romantic drama, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, may have opened to favourable reviews and decent initial buzz, but the film’s box office journey tells a different story. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions banner, the film also features Rohit Saraf and Sanya Malhotra in key roles. It hit theatres on October 2, aligning with a major festive week, which initially seemed promising for its commercial prospects.

The film had a respectable opening day, earning around ₹9.25 crore, and wrapped up its first weekend with a total of approximately ₹30 crore. However, the momentum began to fade rapidly during the weekdays. According to data from sacnilk.com, the film collected just ₹2 crore on Thursday, marking its lowest single-day earnings since release. As of now, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has amassed around ₹40.75 crore in eight days.

Trade analysts attribute the film’s lukewarm performance to stiff competition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1, which has emerged as a nationwide blockbuster. The Kannada-language epic has already crossed the ₹100 crore mark, dominating screens and audiences across multiple states. Its mass appeal and strong word-of-mouth have left little breathing room for other releases, including this glossy romantic comedy.

Despite its charming leads, vibrant music, and high production values typical of a Dharma outing, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari appears to be losing its grip on the box office. Industry experts now estimate the film’s lifetime earnings could wrap up between ₹50–60 crore — a figure considered underwhelming for a project of this scale and backing.

The film follows Sunny (Varun Dhawan) and Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor), two individuals nursing broken hearts after being dumped by their partners Ananya (Sanya Malhotra) and Vikram (Rohit Saraf). When they cross paths, they decide to fake a relationship to incite jealousy in their exes, only to find themselves caught in a whirlwind of unexpected emotions.

While the film may not have struck gold commercially, its cast has promising projects ahead. Varun Dhawan is set to star in Border 2 alongside Sunny Deol, and Janhvi Kapoor is busy with her South Indian venture Peddi, co-starring Ram Charan. Whether Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari gains momentum through streaming platforms remains to be seen.

Meirkhan Yuldasheva’s journey as a nail artist from Kazakhstan is a story about resilience, passion, and the pursuit of improving her skillset. After being introduced to the nail industry during years of financial trouble, Meirkhan learned the basics of manicures from her mother, who initially took up the profession to support their family. What started as a skill learned for survival soon became a passion.

After earning her first certification in Almaty, she immersed herself in the nail industry, studying advanced techniques, understanding challenging hands, and building her skills with the precision and focus of a true artist. This journey led her to the US, where she earned her California manicurist license and established herself, despite the competitive beauty scene in the area.

Elevating the Russian Manicure Experience

Meirkhan’s specialty is a Russian manicure. This technique requires meticulous, clean, and professional skills that she believes go beyond any cosmetic trend, as it’s rooted in hygiene, anatomy, and precise techniques.

Her work includes clean cuticle work, natural-looking manicure finishes, and precision nail art that balances elegance with style. She advocates for russian manicures to be respected for their deeply technical skills, emphasizing that outstanding service goes far beyond surface-level aesthetics.

For Meirkhan, each person’s nails are an opportunity to apply her discipline, focus, and artistry. Her commitment to high-end luxury manicure services has made her one of the most inspiring nail technicians in the field.

Award-Winning Talent and Global Acclaim

Numerous organizations have recognized Meirkhan’s skills. She is a three-time recipient of a first-place title from the prestigious Perfection Nail Championship. She won in the categories “Royal French,” “Gradient on Tips,” and “Upper Form Sculpting with Solid Color.”

After several successes, she was invited as a volunteer organizer for a significant international nail competition in Los Angeles in September 2025. These have been remarkable accomplishments for an EB-1A nail artist who built her career from scratch.

The Best Nails San Diego, a popular salon in California, has also featured her work. She has a growing audience from around the world on her Instagram, where she shares nail techniques, behind-the-scenes videos, and motivational advice for aspiring nail artists.

Mentorship Through Social Media

Beyond her work as a technician, Meirkhan has become a mentor to young artists, especially immigrants and self-taught creatives who are trying to break into the industry. She uses her platform to walk through the many techniques behind luxury nail design and to offer guidance on using tools, getting education, and building confidence.

Her content includes a lot of real talk where she addresses everything from burnout to pricing challenges. With every post or story, she reinforces the message that talent is only one small part of becoming a successful nail tech. It takes true discipline, consistency, and passion to stand out.

Education and Empowerment

In the future, Meirkhan envisions teaching an international masterclass to bring technical nail education to a broader audience. Her dream is to open a modern beauty studio that combines creativity and sophistication.

Meirkhan Yuldasheva’s story is a powerful reminder that greatness can grow from any beginning, so long as you nurture it. Through her work, she continues to inspire others with the message that your background is not always a barrier. With only a dream, she built a globally recognized career defined by technical excellence and generosity.
