Jewelry With a Pulse: How Lisa Christiansen’s Keetoowah Lineage Is Lifting Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry to International Eminence

The Studio’s Living History

Walk into Lisa Christiansen’s studio on an autumn morning and you sense the history pulsing beneath every surface. There is a certain quiet in the space—a rare kind, thick with both the smell of molten metal and the hush of generations. Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry, rooted in these twin Oklahoma towns, has become the kind of name that’s whispered reverently by collectors from Paris storefronts to Santa Fe galleries. Yet at its core, the magic isn’t just in the shimmer of hand-polished gold or the rare green Royston turquoise—it’s in the blood and memory of one Keetoowah family, carried forward with each hammer blow and gentle touch.

The Artistry of Lisa Christiansen

Lisa Christiansen works mostly in the silence of early morning, her tools laid neatly on chamois cloth, the metal singing as she files and shapes. She does not mass-produce. She does not outsource. Each piece emerges under her eyes, from raw metal and stone to finished form—one of one, as unique as a heartbeat. Her discipline comes from a line of teachers whose names now carry the weight of legend.

A Legacy Interwoven

Christiansen is the 5th great granddaughter of Sequoyah, the Cherokee innovator who gifted his people a written language. She is the daughter of Mack Vann, the last person whose Cherokee spoke only the ancient tongue, undiluted by English. Her mother, Mary Ann Groundhog, was not just a guardian of traditions but a founder of the American Indian Movement, changing the stakes for Native rights on a national scale; her grandfather, George Washington Groundhog, served heroically as a Cherokee Code Talker—secret, vital, celebrated in silence for years.

For Christiansen, these names are not just historic—they are familial, alive in her daily ritual, braided into every new design. “I carry them with me, every day,” she says, her voice soft, almost reverent, as she adjusts a turquoise cabochon in its gold claw. “When you have ancestors like these, every act of creation feels like speaking to them. The pendant, the goldwork, the setting—they’re all answers to their hard-won survival.”

Keetoowah Lineage: The Thread of International Acclaim

That Keetoowah lineage, alive and visible in every detail, is the thread that’s lifted Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry to international acclaim and made Christiansen’s pieces some of the most sought-after Native artistry in the world today. The heart pendant stands at the center of this quiet storm—hand-forged, never identical, and infused with personal as well as cultural significance.

“It’s not just a pendant. It’s memory. It’s the heartbeat of people who endured, who built, who wrote, who fought to protect what matters,” Christiansen says, running a thumb along the finished edge.

Signature Pieces and Their Significance

Two pieces have become calling cards for the luxury market: the highly coveted Morenci heart pendant and the Royston turquoise keyring. In today’s surging collectible market, Christiansen’s Morenci heart pendant—crafted from the illustrious Morenci turquoise, known for its brilliant blue hues and remarkable matrix—now begins around $2,800 for a silver setting, with gold versions commanding upwards of $4,200. Each pendant remains entirely handmade, distinguished by subtle natural marks in the turquoise, a reflection of the earth and ancestry it comes from.

For collectors seeking daily connection, the Royston turquoise keyring has itself become an icon. The Royston turquoise Christiansen selects—prized for rare blue and green banding—is cradled in sterling silver or, in limited editions, lustrous gold. These keyrings start at $1,100 for the classic silver and turquoise combination, while limited gold iterations fetch $2,000 or more and often sell out in hours.

Masterpieces and Collectible Heirlooms

And then there are the rare statement pieces—a testament to both Christiansen’s technical mastery and her eye for singular beauty. One such treasure features sterling silver interwoven with twisted copper, holding a breathtaking 66-carat Ethiopian opal. The stone, all fire and shifting light, is set off by the earthy spiral of metal, reminiscent of ancient riverbeds and sacred geometry. Priced at $11,500, this piece is more than jewelry: it’s a collector’s centerpiece, the kind of heirloom museum curators covet and family histories are built around. With play-of-color visible from every angle, it is as much a talisman as a showpiece, with each setting entirely unique to the stone and Christiansen’s vision.

Affirmation of Value and the Collectible Market

To buyers, these prices are an affirmation of value, not just of scarcity or demand. Over the last eighteen months, as word-of-mouth and a handful of influential collectors set their gaze on Blue Wolf, the numbers have shifted dramatically. Early Christiansen pieces, which once might have rested in local boutiques or changed hands among friends, routinely command several times their initial price at auction. “People stake out restocks. They’ll wait months. They don’t quibble about price—they know they’re buying a story and a piece of history,” says shop manager Melissa Tate.

Heritage and the Meaning of Luxury

But what is driving this surge? In a world where luxury too often means the impersonal—precise but anonymous, shiny but forgettable—Christiansen’s jewelry represents the opposite. Each piece is a physical link in a chain that began centuries ago, when Sequoyah shaped an alphabet for his Cherokee kin, and continued when Mary Ann Groundhog rallied AIM protestors or when George Washington Groundhog sent encrypted messages from the front. It is heritage in high relief, rendered precious not simply by scarcity but by the undeniable mark of ancestral hands.

The gold-and-turquoise heart pendant is not just beautiful; it is evocative, a small vessel of collective memory.

Handcraft and Tradition

Handcraft is another key. Christiansen trained herself not just as a silversmith, but as a goldsmith—a rare distinction even among master jewelers. There’s a warmth to her goldwork, a touch of the earth. When she sets turquoise or opal into a hand-twisted bezel, she’s not following fashion. She’s echoing the tradition of ancestors who prized turquoise for its spiritual charge, opal for its fire, and wore precious metals as emblems of endurance and connection.

“I want each piece to feel lived in, human,” Christiansen explains. “Materials belong together in ways that balance heritage and the future.”

The Experience of Owning a Lisa Christiansen Original

At Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry, there’s no sense of rush or compromise. Shop regulars have learned that waiting—sometimes weeks, sometimes months—for a Lisa Christiansen original is part of the experience. When a piece arrives, there’s a hush, then excitement. Buyers know they now own something with history in its bones, and value that, in the jewelry world, feels more like legacy than luxury.

Legacy and Respect

In Christiansen’s view, the meteoric rise in value is less about investment than affirmation. “For so many years, Native art was overlooked or treated as a novelty,” she reflects. “Now people see the depth, the intelligence, the perfection of this kind of work. They’re not just paying more—they’re giving it the respect it’s always deserved.”

Conclusion: Legacy Turned to Luxury

From the windswept streets of Lawton to distant galleries abroad, Lisa Christiansen has turned legacy into luxury—by hand, with fierce integrity and a profound respect for where she comes from. For those who own a heart pendant, opal masterpiece, or a turquoise keyring, the value lies not just in gold or stone, but in a heritage that refuses to fade. And for those who hope to one day wear her work, the allure will remain as long as Blue Wolf Fine Jewelry exists: a living line, a story you can hold in your hand, equal parts memory and miracle.

How France Came to Embrace International Filmmakers

by jummy84 November 6, 2025
written by jummy84

The twin triumphs of Jafar Panahi’s “It Was Just an Accident” at Cannes and Jim Jarmusch’s “Father Mother Sister Brother” at Venice made 2025 a banner year for international auteurs embracing the French film showbiz ecosystem — though that’s hardly surprising for a production partner fluent in every language of cinema.

“You make electric cars with China, and films with France,” quips producer Charles Gillibert. “We have always had a universalist framework that supports not just French artists, but filmmakers from around the world, all of them benefiting from a self-sustaining system that uses investment obligations and festivals to sustain creativity.”

As president of Les Films du Losange and a producer of recent titles like Bi Gan’s “Resurrection” and Kristen Stewart’s “The Chronology of Water,” Gillibert has been instrumental in weaving global voices into what he calls his country’s “strong cinematic industrial fabric.”

Jarmusch provides a key example. In search of a European partner for a story spanning the Atlantic, he turned to Gillibert’s CG Cinema to refine the film’s creative, legal and administrative framework, to secure financing through France’s international tax credit, and to oversee a cross-border shoot. Following Gillibert’s advice, the production shifted its middle chapter from London to Dublin — a move that enriched the film’s themes and allowed a crew of Jarmusch regulars and French technicians to transition seamlessly between segments in Dublin and Paris.

“That’s what it means to imagine a film together,” says Gillibert, noting Jarmusch’s desire to keep working in France. “It shows that our work mattered, that he’s following threads opened up by his previous film. That he wants to explore them further here is both fortunate and exciting.”

And Jarmusch is far from alone. This year, a striking 27 submissions for the international feature film Oscar race from other countries are French co-productions — from Norway’s “Sentimental Value” to South Korea’s “No Other Choice” to Spain’s “Sirat.”

Joachim Trier’s Cannes Grand Prize winning “Sentimental Value” even turns this phenomenon into its subject, following a Norwegian auteur who rekindles his creative spark while attending a French film festival — with scenes shot on location at the Deauville Festival itself.

MK2 Films managing director Fionnuala Jamison describes the process as a “virtuous cycle.” International auteurs leverage Cannes exposure to bolster French box office returns and forge relationships with local distributors and sales companies. Those connections, in turn, unlock CNC funds and broadcaster pre-buys aligned with the festival’s tastes, creating a self-reinforcing ecosystem that nurtures global voices.

“What premieres at Cannes, what resonates at the French box office, and what public funders back all go hand in hand,” says Jamison. “There are political and ethical dimensions, sure. But fundamentally, it comes down to the French audience and its long tradition of openness. Certain films just work here.”

Last year, MK2 quietly joined a top-secret project from Panahi, teaming up with distributor Memento and Les Films Pelléas to finance a clandestinely shot thriller. In many ways, the dissident auteur already embodied the full promise of the French system: he burst onto the world stage with Cannes’ Camera d’Or and leveraged local partnerships — most notably with Paris-based Celluloid Dreams — to navigate government reprisals and build one of world cinema’s most celebrated careers.

“Everything, from how Panahi’s films were sold abroad to how they reached major festivals, happened through French companies,” says Les Films Pelléas founder Philippe Martin. For him, embracing this year’s Palme d’Or winner as France’s Oscar submission — giving Panahi a platform that had long been out of reach — felt like a natural next step for an ecosystem that has consistently embraced global auteurs.

“No other country supports so many other nations’ cinemas with such generosity and intelligence,” Martin adds.

Annemarie Jacir’s International Oscar Submission

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Annemarie Jacir’s Oscar hopeful “Palestine 36” has released its first trailer, offering a powerful glimpse into what the acclaimed Palestinian filmmaker calls “the project of my life.”

The historical drama, which is Palestine’s official submission for the 2026 Academy Awards in the international feature category, is set during the Arab Revolt of 1936 — a period Jacir describes as “a major turning point in our history.”

The Arab Revolt was a “large-scale uprising against British colonial rule,” Jacir tells Variety. “That moment set the stage for everything that was to come, and it’s a legacy we still live today.”

The film, which Jacir has spent eight years developing, centers on a group of Palestinian villagers whose lives are upended by British occupation, tracing the birth of a national movement that reverberates through generations. With a visual palette both intimate and sweeping, the trailer hints at a story grounded in resistance, memory and collective identity.

“‘Palestine 36’ tells a story vital to our history, yet one that has never been told on film,” Jacir says. “And while I made this film for Palestinians, I hope it also speaks to colonized people everywhere who continue to feel the echoes of that past.”

Jacir, who previously represented Palestine with “Wajib” (2017), “When I Saw You” (2012) and “Salt of the Sea” (2008), has long been regarded as one of the most influential voices in Arab cinema. With this fourth Oscar submission, she continues her mission of reframing Palestinian narratives through authenticity and artistry.

“I hope audiences will be open to receiving a story from the other side — from those who were colonized,” Jacir shares. “History is not only written by the winners. Through this film, I wanted to center Palestinian voices and bring them to the screen with honesty and strength.”

The critically acclaimed drama stars Hiam Abbass, Kamel El Basha, Yasmine Al Massri, Jalal Altawil, Robert Aramayo, Saleh Bakri, Liam Cunningham and Jeremy Irons.

Murtada Elfadl wrote in his Variety review, “Jacir’s film reminds that history is not abstract, but lived through families and small moments of solidarity and conflict. By uniting epic scope with intimate detail, it delivers a portrait of a people fractured yet unbroken.”

The film had its world premiere in the Gala Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival back in September. Following its Oscar-qualifying run last month by Watermelon Pictures, “Palestine 36” will have its L.A. premiere at the AFI Film Festival on Oct. 25. The U.S. release is set for early 2026.

One More International Trailer for ‘Predator: Badlands’ Sci-Fi Action

by Alex Billington

“Many of your kind have come here. None have survived…” 20th Century has unveiled one additional final international trailer for Predator: Badlands directed by Dan Trachtenberg. We already posted the final official US trailer a few weeks ago but this is the version they made to play outside of the US. After three full trailers before this, and a behind-the-scenes promo, there’s a few more new shots in here hinting at where this is going. Badlands is also officially rated PG-13, but it should still kick ass anyway. The director of Prey welcomes you to a whole world of hurt. Set on a remote planet, a young Yautja outcast from his clan finds an unlikely ally on his journey in search of the ultimate adversary. Co-starring Elle Fanning as an android + Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi as the young predator who must confront an apex predator. This is still looking like it will blow us all away this fall. Another awesome movie incoming this year! At this point, I’ve seen more than enough footage – I’m ready to catch this in theaters & have a blast. Bring on the action.

Here’s an extra international trailer (+ poster) for Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands, via YouTube:

Predator: Badlands is directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, director of the films 10 Cloverfield Lane and Prey previously, the upcoming Predator: Killer of Killers animated movie, episodes of “Black Mirror” and “The Boys”, plus many other shorts. The screenplay is written by Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. Based on characters created by Jim Thomas & John Thomas. Produced by John Davis, Dan Trachtenberg, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, Brent O’Connor. 20th Century releases Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands movie in theaters (huzzah!!) nationwide starting on November 7th, 2025 coming up. HGTV’s ‘House Hunters,’ ‘House Hunter International’ Get 400-Episode Order

by jummy84 October 23, 2025
written by jummy84

HGTV has bolstered its slate of real estate shows by freshening up its House Hunters and House Hunter International series with a giant 400 episode renewal order through 2026.

The House Hunters franchise, launched 25 years ago and attracting over 13 million viewers monthly, will return as real estate experts continue to steer potential buyers to local dream property purchases.

Botched Homes will see New York City-turned-Florida contractor Charlie Kawas and his crew fix failed renovations in a reality series from producer Mounment and set to debut in 2026. HGTV also ordered 16 half hours of Neighborhood Watch, a home surveillance footage series from Arrow Media also to debut next year.

Also upcoming from HGTV is the house hunting series World’s Bargain Dream Homes, where home buyers dream big and buy low in the show from Twenty Twenty Television. And HGTV home reno stars Drew and Jonathan Scott are set to star and executive produce 14 episodes of Property Brothers: Under Pressure from Scott Brothers Entertainment.

The new real estate series sees the Scott twins help wary buyers grapple with commitment issues to possibly make the biggest purchase of their lives.

“With this programming order, HGTV is delivering more of our tried-and-true formats that drive consistent ratings for the network, while also featuring new talent and concepts to engage our devoted fans and attract different audiences,” said Howard Lee, chief creative officer, U.S. Networks at Warner Bros. Discovery in a statement.

House Hunters is produced by Pie Town Productions, while the spinoff House Hunters International series is produced by Leopard USA.
