Kevin Durant Shoots His Shot at Sports Host Kay Adams During Interview

NBA star Kevin Durant made a bold, unexpected move during a recent episode of Up & Adams — reaching out to host Kay Adams with what sounded like a flirtatious invite.

He suggested she make a trip to Houston to catch a Rockets game. “If you come down to Houston, which I’m expecting you to come to a game …” he said. But Adams was quick to call him on it: “I came to a game — you literally would not even wave.”

Durant tried to explain, stating he only realized she was there after hearing it on her show: “Which is crazy,” he added. When Adams pushed back further — “Kevin, I think I literally told you I was at the game, I said ‘See you tonight!’” — he attempted to pivot, saying, “It’s alright, we’re moving on … I’ll see you at one of these games in Houston.” He even sweetened the pitch: “We going for barbecue down in Texas when you get out here.”

Adams wasn’t having it. In her closing line, she delivered a blunt exit: “Fool me once, fool me twice.”

‘Reading Rainbow’ Returns Digitally With New Host Mychal Threets

by jummy84 October 6, 2025
written by jummy84

Reading Rainbow is officially back and stepping into the digital era with a fresh format for a new generation of curious minds.

The beloved children’s series, which inspired generations of kids to open a book and explore the world, is relaunching on KidZuko, Sony Kids’ YouTube channel, with weekly episodes running from Oct. 4-25. Hosting the reboot is Mychal Threets, widely known on social media as “Mychal the Librarian,” who brings his signature warmth, humor, and love of literature to kids across the nation.

From 1983 to 2006, actor LeVar Burton made the televised story time for kids something memorable and magical. But unfortunately, budget cuts and a cultural focus on the mechanics of literacy over the joy of reading led to the show’s cancellation. While Burton has attempted to reboot the series himself, past efforts were stalled by legal battles with Buffalo Toronto Public Media.

Now, decades later, Reading Rainbow is returning with Threets to help to deliver the same mission: “to motivate kids in grades K-3 to become avid readers; help all kids succeed as readers; encourage a strong home literacy environment; and enrich classroom literacy environments.”

Threets has already cultivated a devoted following by promoting children’s literature and advocating for young viewers’ emotional well-being online. And throughout his dedication to literature, he has openly credited Burton and the original show as his inspiration.

“There have been two hosts in the history of Reading Rainbow. The Legend of Literacy, LeVar Burton! And… me, Mychal Threets, a librarian,” he announced on his social media accounts. “I was raised on Reading Rainbow, LeVar Burton is my hero. I am a reader, I am a librarian because LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow so powerfully made us believe we belong in books, we belong everywhere.
lam so happy for all of us that Reading Rainbow is returning!”

He thanked all of his supporters, adding, “YOU all did this! We’re flying twice as high, butterflies in the sky! Stay tuned…”

The reboot kicked off on Saturday (Oct. 4) with the episode “No Cats In The Library,” by Lauren Emmons with narration by actress Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country). The animal-themed episode also featured actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) who joined kids at The ACC to learn how to care for creatures big and small.

On Oct. 11, the series continues with “Tiny Troubles” by Sophie Diao, an episode that focuses on self-discovery with narration by Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Celebrity chef Candice Kumai will also help kids explore careers as chefs, stylists, and photographers.

The following episode “More Than Peach” by Bellen Woodard will be narrated by Gabrielle Union (Bring It On), who helps kids celebrate inclusivity and creativity in the “boardroom of imagination.” Author and kid CEO Bellen Woodard will also make an appearance.

The season wraps on Oct. 25 with episode “Moo Hoo” by Audrey Perrott, narrated by Adam DeVine (Pitch Perfect), and featuring dancers Rylee Arnold and Ezra Sosa (Dancing With the Stars) as they explore emotions through a colorful paint-filled adventure at the Los Angeles Paint Splatter Room.

Episodes will premiere at 10 A.M. ET every Saturday on KidZuko’s YouTube and on the official Reading Rainbow website. This time, with Mychal the Librarian at the forefront, Reading Rainbow aims to bring the magic of reading and the joy that comes with it to a whole new generation.

Earlier this year, Bad Bunny helped to close out Saturday Night Live’s 50th season as its finale musical guest. The Puerto Rican superstar returned to NBC last weekend to host the show’s Season 51 premiere. He starred in sketches throughout the evening as a sperm donor hopeful, a fan of the Netflix original film KPop Demon Hunters, and the inventor of the Spanish language, and led the SNL cast in a recreation of the ’70s Mexican sitcom El Chavo del Ocho. Joining Bad Bunny was musical guest Doja Cat, who made her Saturday Night Live debut performing “Aaahh Men!” and “Gorgeous” from her new album Vie. Check out those performances and sketches below.

During his opening monologue, Bad Bunny discussed his recent 31-show concert residency in Puerto Rico and the news that he’ll be performing the halftime show at Super Bowl LX this February. He also noted that the evening marked his fourth appearance on Saturday Night Live, joking “I think Marcello [Hernandez] is getting nervous that Lorne has a new favorite Latino.”

Bad Bunny previously hosted SNL in 2023. In November, he’s set to embark an international tour in support of his new album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Doja Cat’s Tour Ma Vie World Tour also kicks off that same month.

This week’s episode of Saturday Night Live will be hosted will be hosted by Amy Poehler alongside musical guest Role Model. Then, on October 18, Sabrina Carpenter will pull double duty as host and musical guest for the first time.

ABC Host Met The Moment

ABC Host Met The Moment

by jummy84 September 24, 2025
written by jummy84

From Oscar-envelope SNAFUs, to L.A. wildfire evacuations, to real-time tweet attacks from Donald Trump and advocating for children’s healthcare, Jimmy Kimmel has more than met the moment many times over the years.

Still, with the ABC late-night host’s return tonight after a weeklong benching … Well, as longtime nemesis Trump said on a May 2016 visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!: “You never know what’s going to happen.”

With renewed threats against the Disney-owned network from Trump tonight after the show was taped, and affiliate owners Sinclair and Nexstar still not showing Live! even though ABC brought it back, an initially cosplaying Kimmel (Google it) more than met the moment Tuesday — like we kinda knew he would.

Greeted by a standing ovation and chants of “Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy!” from his studio audience, and revealing news of a German job offer, Kimmel started off with a nod to the great Jack Parr’s return to the air after a corporate run-in of his own in 1960. Warming up, he thanked his fellow late-night hosts past and present, his fans and fans of free speech like “even my old pal Ted Cruz.”

Yet, for all the anger and backlash around Kimmel’s suspension, the longtime host’s deft decision Tuesday was to speak to the conservative activist’s grieving family and the big picture in America right now.

Oh, and never forgetting Live! is late-night comedy, Kimmel turned the spotlight of free speech on Trump and his real-life FCC chair Brendon Carr by showing their own contradictory words and actions vis a vis free speech. In addition, Kimmel got some hilarious help and cultural Kevlar from Robert De Niro played the new sycophantic head of the FCC to seal the deal — cause that’s how the pros do it.

De Niro went straight into regulatory character to hit all the right notes.

“It’s just me Jimmy the chairman of the FCC, gently suggesting that you gently shut the f*ck up,” De Niro declared in the pre-taped bit. “But you can’t say that, that’s a violation of free speech,” Kimmel protested. “Oh, yeah, about that speech? It ain’t free no more,” De Niro replied, making it perfectly clear what was on the table.

Was it the greatest late-night show ever? No. Was it the greatest TV comeback ever? No. Was Kimmel weak for not coming out screaming that he was leaving ABC for the greener and likely less restrained pastures of Netflix or YouTube? Not at all. Kimmel has been doing late-night a long long time, decades in fact, and he knows that the way you win is playing the long long game — which is what we saw, as we have from him numerous times before.

If you were expecting an apology, this wasn’t the comeback where you were going to get it. Kimmel’s knee did not hit the studio floor Tuesday. Also, if you couldn’t watch because you lived in one of those markets ruled by Sinclair and Nexstar, Kimmel had some advice: streaming.

In a sweet extra to the whole thing, Trump’s outdated shivs of Kimmel having low ratings are going to look even more tin-eared in the next day or so when the numbers come in. Even with nearly 20% of ABC’s linear reach off limits thanks to Nexstar and Sinclair’s continued preemptions, they should be big.

One-liners, a hug from Guillermo and defending the First Amendment aside, there was, as one would expect after a week in which a late-night host going dark put where America is now in stark perspective, some tears Tuesday. In that vein, Kimmel’s voice broke a few times, especially when speaking of widow and now Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk for the undeniable grace and forgiveness she displayed this past weekend towards the man who killed her husband. Kimmel’s own grace under pressure was on display with his dedication to his craft and POV.

There was also a talk show to put on and the Live! team did just that tonight too.

Glen Powell was on to talk to Kimmel at the desk and charmingly promote his new September 30-debuting Hulu football series Chad Powers. Hot off pulling the plug on performances at the September 21 premiere of ABC News and Hulu’s Lilith Fair documentary in solidarity with Kimmel and his show, Sarah McLachlan provided the tunes tonight with something from her new album Broken Better. There was anticipation that the often outspoken songwriter would say something, as she did just a few days ago at they Lilith Fair: Building A Mystery screening, but, like the pro she is, McLachlan stuck to the task at hand and saw the bigger picture.

That ethos, after the necessary points were made, was at the heart of tonight’s Live! to everyone credit — and probably to ABC, Disney, Iger and Walden’s relief. That became all the more stark after Trump went online Tuesday after the slightly late-running show was taped and before it aired on the East Coast, huffing and puffing as usual.

“I think we’re going to test ABC out on this,” Trump wrote, handing Iger and Walden a redemption in so many ways. “Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers!”

“I think we’ll see you tomorrow, good night,” the clearly winning Kimmel said at the end of tonight’s show. To that, Ethan Hawke and Abbott Elementary’s Lisa Ann Walters are the scheduled Live! tomorrow, with Yungblud as the musical guest — cause that’s how the pros do it.

How to Bring a Late-Night Host Back From the Brink? Apologies Can Help

by jummy84 September 19, 2025
written by jummy84

Jimmy Kimmel isn’t the first late-night host to get caught on the media griddle.

Kimmel is the latest in a short line of wee-hours personalities to spark controversies with jokes that offended as many as they tickled — perhaps more. On Monday night, the ABC personality walked a tightrope with a joke tied to Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist whose September 10 assassination has spurred a wave of “cancel culture” moves by the right.

Undaunted, Kimmel poked fun at President Trump’s odd reaction to being asked how he was holding up after the death of an ally (Trump pivoted to talking about his new White house ballroom). And Kimmel provoked conservative watchdogs by saying that “the MAGA gang” was “trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

Now the host — and Walt Disney Co., owner of ABC — find themselves in an impossible position. After FCC Chair Brendan Carr told a conservative podcaster that “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel, or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead,” two prominent owners of TV stations, Nexstar Media and Sinclair Broadcasting, said they would pre-empt ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” for the foreseeable future. Their decision leaves ABC struggling to beam Kimmel’s show to a good chunk of the nation — though, presumably, Disney could use its Hulu and Disney+ streaming services to get around the station owners’ blockade. Disney said earlier this week it was taking “Jimmy Kimmel Live” off the air indefinitely.

Johnny Carson rarely had to deal with such stuff, but his progeny have grappled with it with increasing frequency. Chalk the dynamic up to the fact that TV has in recent years fielded a wider number of late-night hosts, each of them eager to not only win TV ratings, but also viral pass-along on social media. Nabbing that last prize requires more hot talk, sharply pointed commentary and treading territory Carson usually avoided.

Kimmel does have a way back. In most cases — not all — sounding a note of apology helped.

David Letterman found himself under scrutiny in 2009 after making a joke about the daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin: “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.” The line was a reference to Bristol, who at the time was an unwed mother. But a younger daughter, Willow, had attended a Yankee game in New York with Palin and her husband. The incident became a public-relations hot potato for Letterman, then hosting “The Late Show” for CBS.

Eventually, Letterman acknowledged the riposte was not his best work. ““I told a bad joke,”  he said during a 2009 broadcast. “I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I’m sorry about it and I’ll try to do better in the future.”

Bill Maher in 2017 used a racial slur on live TV during a telecast of HBO’s “Real Time” during a conversation with Ben Sasse, then a U.S. Senator from Nebraska. Within hours, the comedian faced backlash from viewers and became the subject of very difficult conversations among senior executives at HBO’s then-owner, Time Warner. One day following the show’s Friday-night telecast, Maher apologized. “Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive, and I regret saying it and am very sorry.”

But there was more to come. On his next broadcast, Maher convened guests like Ice Cube and Michael Eric Dyson to call him to task for using the epithet and to explore the issues about its us. Joy Reid, in 2018 a weekend host for MSNBC, relied on a similar concept after coming under fire following the discovery of old blog posts authored by her that contained homophobic remarks. Reid apologized and suggested the old pieces of digital content had been manipulated without her knowledge. On her program, “A.M. Joy,” she engaged in conversation with then-columnist Jonathan Capehart and Zeke Stokes, vice president of programs for GLAAD, to discuss the issues around the remarks.

Reid was able to remain at MSNBC until earlier this year and was promoted to a weekday host in a coveted early-evening slot.

Maher, of course, has been through similar stuff. He once held down a late-night host job on ABC, at the helm of a roundtable program called “Politically Incorrect.  In September of 2001, in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, that America had been “cowardly” in dealing with the rest of the world, unlike the criminals who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center.

“We have been the cowards lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away,” he said. “That’s cowardly.”  Two large advertisers, Sears and FedEx, pulled commercials from the show.

Within a day, Maher apologized. His view, he said, “should have been expressed differently.” He added:  “In no way was I intending to say, nor have I ever thought, that the men and women who defend our nation in uniform are anything but courageous and valiant, and I offer my apologies to anyone who took it wrong,” ABC kept the show on the air, but advertisers continued to balk. “Politically Incorrect” was cancelled in June 2002.

Samantha Bee, who launched a critically acclaimed program called “Full Frontal” on Warner’s TBS in 2016, sparked controversy after she used a charged epithet that refers to a part of the female anatomy to insult President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka. The result? After Bee delivered the remark in a 2018 broadcast, TBS lost ads from most sponsors, except movie studios, and had to fill the space with promos for its own properties. Bee offered an apology.  “I crossed the line. I regret it and I do apologize for that,” she s said, noting: “The problem is, that many of women have heard that word at the worst moments in their lives. A lot of women don’t want to reclaim that word. They want it gone, and I don’t blame them. I don’t want to inflict more pain on them.” “Full Frontal” continued to run until 2022.

In some cases, the producers of late-night programs manage to return a response to self-generated controversy to a new reason to watch their shows. During an appearance on the “Weekend Update” segment of “Saturday Night Live” in 2018, cast member Pete Davidson spurred backlash by mocking Dan Crenshaw, then a congressional candidate in Texas, who had lost his right eye while serving as a Navy SEAL. “You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie,” Davidson said on the program. “I’m sorry, I know he lost his eye in war, or whatever. Whatever.”

Davidson apologized to an in-person Crenshaw on the next episode of the program. The “SNL” comedian acknowledged his joke represented “a poor choice of words.” Crenshaw made fun of Davidson’s gawky stature and then called for respect for all veterans as well as first responders in the 9/11 attacks — one of whom was Davidson’s father.

Kimmel may not feel a need to apologize. His audience knows to expect such stuff from him on a regular basis, and surely ABC executives had time after his Monday taping to confer on the suitability of his monologue for that evening. As other people who have walked in similar shoes can attest, however, apologizing can help a situation — and more people remember the hosts for the shows they created then the glitches that may have occurred along the way.

How the Late-Night Host Made His Millions – Hollywood Life

For more than two decades, Jimmy Kimmel has been a fixture in late-night television, fronting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC since 2003. His sharp humor and hosting skills have made him a go-to personality not just for his nightly show but also for major events like the Oscars and the Emmys. In September 2025, Kimmel picked up a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show thanks to his work on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Yet the win came at a turbulent moment: ABC moved to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! after backlash over his comments about Tyler Robinson, the suspect accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The decision has thrown his future into question. The decision sparked strong reactions. “Some of the sickest conduct possible,” said FCC Chair Brendan Carr, who praised ABC affiliates like Nexstar for pulling the show. “We at the FCC are going to force the public interest obligation. There are broadcasters out there that don’t like it, they can turn in their license in to the FCC,” he added.

With his show on hold, many are now curious about the late-night star’s salary, career earnings, and overall net worth. Find out more below.

What Is Jimmy Kimmel’s Net Worth in 2025?

As of 2025, Jimmy Kimmel’s net worth is estimated at around $50 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

His decades-long career in late night, combined with hosting major events like the Oscars and producing other TV projects, has made him one of the wealthiest figures in comedy. Despite his show’s current suspension, Kimmel’s long run on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and steady stream of side projects have cemented his financial success.

What Is Jimmy Kimmel’s Salary From ABC?

Kimmel reportedly earns $15 million per year for hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC.

What Did Jimmy Kimmel Say?

Kimmel sparked backlash after his monologue comments about Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect accused of killing Kirk. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host accused “many in MAGA land” of trying to “capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk” and said conservatives were “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them” in order to score political points.

An ABC spokesperson confirmed on September 17 that Kimmel’s show “will be pre-empted indefinitely” over the comments.

But prior to his monologue, Kimmel had posted a more somber message on social media. “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence,” he wrote.

New ‘SNL’ schedule features Sabrina Carpenter as both musical guest and host

by jummy84 September 18, 2025
written by jummy84

Sabrina Carpenter will pull double duty as both host and musical guest when Saturday Night Live returns next month.

Off the back of her new album ‘Man’s Best Friend’, the pop star will appear on the third episode of the iconic show’s 51st season on October 18. It will be the first time she has hosted but she was previously a musical guest on season 49. She was also part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations back in February, at one point appearing in a sketch where she sang an off-key version of ‘Espresso’.

The season 51 premiere has Bad Bunny booked to host on October 4, while Doja Cat will be making her SNL debut as musical guest. SNL alumna Amy Poehler will return to host on October 11, with Role Model as the musical guest.

Carpenter has also been announced as one of the headliners of next year’s Coachella alongside Justin Bieber and Karol G. After days of speculation, she was confirmed to be closing out the Friday night of both weekends at the desert music festival.

Coachella 2026 will take place between April 10 and 12, and again on April 17 to 19. As for tickets, you’ll be able to get yours here.

‘Man’s Best Friend’ scored a four-star review from NME, with Nick Levine writing: “Musically, this album isn’t markedly different from its predecessor, though it has a few more country-leaning cuts sprinkled among the daytime disco and featherlight funk.

“It also sticks to Carpenter’s winning formula of pairing sticky melodies with pithy lyrics about the flaws and allure of inadequate males. If there were a Bechdel Test for pop albums, ‘Man’s Best Friend’ wouldn’t be in danger of passing it.”

Meanwhile, Carpenter recently joked that her label “really didn’t give a fuck” about her after learning there were only 200 copies of her debut album made for vinyl.

Mario Lopez is set to host the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards taking place on Oct. 17 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California.

The hosting gig is part of an exclusive collaboration between the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) and Access Hollywood, as Lopez serves as a co-host of the latter.

Beginning Oct. 13, Access Hollywood will host five nights of dedicated Daytime Emmys segments leading up to the awards show. Then, following the show, on Oct. 20, Access will recap the awards ceremony with red carpet moments, winner reactions and exclusive footage.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Access Hollywood and having Mario Lopez host this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards,” says NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp. “As a beloved figure in daytime television himself, Mario brings the perfect blend of energy, familiarity, and star power to the stage.”

They represent the best and brightest in the industry.”

Additionally, for the first time since 2018, there will be a limited number of tickets available for the show for public purchase. Tickets are now on sale, starting at $75, through Ticketmaster.

Sharp added: “We’re also honored to celebrate this year’s gold and silver circle honorees — television professionals whose dedication and exceptional talent have shaped the landscape of daytime storytelling.
