Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting 2025: Reba McEntire to Host

Laufey, Gwen Stefani and more stars are ready to rock around the Rockefeller Christmas tree, with NBC announcing the lineup for its annual tree-lighting celebration — hosted this year by Reba McEntire — on Friday (Nov. 14).

As Billboard can exclusively share, the network is set to air its 2025 Christmas in Rockefeller Center special at 8 p.m. ET on Dec. 3, with viewers getting the choice of tuning live on NBC or watching a simulcast on Peacock. With the country icon and Voice judge making her debut as host of the yearly program, Marc Anthony, Halle Bailey, Michael Bublé, Kristin Chenoweth, New Edition, Brad Paisley and Carly Pearce will also perform.

Plus, the Radio City Rockettes — who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year — will once again be present to dazzle viewers with a festive showcase and, most likely, a kick line or two. “The lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center is one of the great traditions that New York has to offer, and we couldn’t be more proud to once again share that excitement with audiences all over the country,” said Jen Neal, executive vp of live events and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, in a statement.

She added, “We’re so looking forward to seeing Reba bring her infectious energy to the telecast and create an unforgettable holiday moment.”

The 2025 iteration of the holiday extravaganza will build on more than 90 years of tradition. The first Rockefeller tree lighting took place in 1933, giving New Yorkers a meaningful bit of Christmas cheer amid the Great Depression; in 1936, the famous ice-skating rink at Rockefeller Center opened, giving the ceremony its now-iconic backdrop.

This year, the tree — a Norway Spruce imported from East Greenbush, N.Y. — will measure at 75 feet tall and 45 feet wide, weighing approximately 11 tons. Topped with a three-dimensional Swarovski star, it’ll take more than 50,000 colorful LED lights to illuminate.

In 2024, the special was hosted by Kelly Clarkson and featured performances from the Backstreet Boys, Dan + Shay, Jennifer Hudson, Coco Jones, Little Big Town, RAYE and more.

Bigg Boss 19 is nearing its conclusion. After a shocking mid-week eviction twist, fans are now waiting to see who will be eliminated from the race to the trophy this Weekend Ka Vaar, and who Salman Khan will bash this time. However, Salman will not be hosting this Weekend Ka Vaar. Another star is stepping in to replace him: Bollywood filmmaker and Khatron Ke Khiladi host Rohit Shetty.

Neither Farah Khan nor Salman Khan will host this Weekend Ka Vaar of Bigg Boss 19.

Rohit Shetty replaces Salman Khan as host for this Weekend Ka Vaar

On Friday, JioHotstar announced that Rohit Shetty will be replacing Salman Khan as host this Weekend Ka Vaar. Sharing a poster of the filmmaker, the OTT platform wrote, “Iss Weekend Ka Vaar, Rohit Shetty layenge action aur drama ka blockbuster blend” (This Weekend Ka Vaar, Rohit Shetty will bring a blockbuster blend of action and drama). Before Rohit, Farah Khan once filled in for Salman, and audiences loved that Weekend Ka Vaar. It remains to be seen whether Rohit will meet fans’ expectations as host.

The reason for Salman’s absence is still unknown. However, it appears that the superstar is busy with his Da-Bangg tour in Qatar and could not be available for the Weekend Ka Vaar shoot. The actor, along with Tamannaah Bhatia, Prabhu Deva, Maniesh Paul, Sunil Grover, Jacqueline Fernandez and Stebin Ben, will be performing at the Asian Town Amphitheatre in Doha today (November 14). A video from the tour’s press conference surfaced online this morning, showing Stebin singing Oo Jaane Jana while Salman vibed along.

Recent developments in the Bigg Boss 19 house

This week saw Mridul Tiwari getting evicted in a mid-week elimination after receiving the least votes during a live-audience task. Amaal and Gaurav got into a heated argument after the singer and Farrhana accused Gaurav of playing a ‘character’ in the Bigg Boss house instead of showing his real personality. The argument then shifted to nepotism, where Amaal felt Gaurav tried to mock his struggles.

The latest episode showed Gaurav becoming the captain of the house and nominating everyone this week, which led to angry reactions from Shehbaz Badesha and Amaal. Both accused Bigg Boss of being biased towards Gaurav and called the move unfair. The show is available to watch on JioHotstar at 9 pm and on Colours TV at 10:30 pm.

A few days ago, Netflix released the air date and poster for With Love, Meghan’s holiday special. It will be released on December 3. There was some muttering about Meghan “choosing” a release date which would be on or around the Princess of Wales’s big Christmas caroling event. Considering Kate hadn’t released any confirmation of anything yet, it was funny to watch the deranged community get huffy about it in advance. Well, good news for Kate – her Christmas event will be staged two days after the release of WLM’s Holiday Special.

Kate Middleton is continuing a Christmas tradition — with a little help from a Hollywood star. At midnight on Nov. 13, local time, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales, 43, will host her fifth annual “Together at Christmas” Carol Service on Friday, Dec. 5, at Westminster Abbey in London.

The announcement also revealed that Kate Winslet, Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all involved. Winslet, an Academy Award-winning actor, will attend after her appointment as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, one of King Charles’ personal charities, in June.

As for what’s to come at the festive event on Dec. 5, a palace statement said, “Combining traditional and modern elements to encompass people of all faiths and none, the service will see the world-renowned Westminster Abbey choir sing some of the nation’s most beloved carols, alongside musical performances and readings by guests including Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith, Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.”

“The Service will also showcase stories of some of the incredible guests in the congregation, who are leading by example and helping to create a more connected society,” it continued.

The theme for this year’s event is “love in all its forms.”

“This year, the Service will bring people together to celebrate love in all its forms — whether it’s love within families, through friendships, across communities or even through powerful moments of connection with strangers. In a world that can often feel fragmented and disconnected, love is the force that reconnects us all – spanning generations, communities, cultures and faiths,” the statement said.

“As we approach the Christmas season, we are reminded of the power of togetherness. The evening will highlight the transformative power of investing in one another with compassion, presence and joy,” it added.

Hannah Waddingham is showing up the opening of an envelope these days, especially when it comes to anything royal or royal-adjacent. Good for her, in general, to strike while the iron is hot when she got her biggest break in her 40s. Kate Winslet is another one cozying up to the royals a lot lately, and I have no idea why. But Chiwetel?? Hm. Anyway, I’m sure the Princess of Wales will have all three kids there and maybe William will show up too. While this is barely discussed in the British media, the viewership for these specials has cratered in recent years. It will be interesting to see if any outlets try to do a head-to-head match-up between “Together at Christmas” and WLM’s Holiday Special.

And we would have loved to do it. But most of the girls have already seen the film when it was released two years ago. Because I reached out to the girls then, and most of them have already seen it. So right now, I think they should be allowed to just celebrate, soaking in what they’ve done. And of course, the ones who haven’t watched them, we’re more than happy to host even just a private screening for them. But right now, they need to just celebrate what they’ve done.”

She continued, “I was supposed to be traveling to Italy with my parents but I made sure that the semi-final, final days I come back. However, on semi-finals day, I was shooting; but I wouldn’t have missed the finals for anything. It was so very special to see this happen. I actually took my dad and went to watch the game because we both watched the 2011 world cup together so just wanted to keep that superstition going (we won that world cup in 2011 so…). And the girls lifted the trophy so…”

Saiyami Kher On Meeting The Indian Women Cricket Team

Talking about interacting with them award ceremony, Saiyami shared, “It was genuinely very special because after we won, the stadium erupted and there was Maa Tujhe Salaam playing and there was Chake De playing and like full grown men were weeping and crying and the chants were like super loud like the men’s World Cup. I went and kind of spoke to the girls down after the post-match presentation and it was just incredible to be a part and be around there when they won.”

On the professional front, Saiyami Kher – who was last seen on the big screen as SI Vijaya Lakshmi in Sunny Deol’s Jaat, is currently filming Haiwaan, scheduled to release in 2026.

Quentin Willson, the British TV host known for Top Gear and Britain’s Worst Driver, has died. He was 68.

In a statement from his family shared with multiple outlets, they announced that he died “peacefully surrounded by his family” during a brief illness with lung cancer, calling him a “true national treasure.”

“Quentin brought the joy of motoring, from combustion to electric, into our living rooms,” the family said, adding: “The void he has left can never be filled. His knowledge was not just learned but lived; a library of experience now beyond our reach.”

Jeremy Clarkson and James May, Willson’s former co-presenters during his time on the original Top Gear from 1991 to 2001, paid tribute to their late friend and colleague as they reacted to news of his death.

Clarkson, who helped develop the Top Gear revival in 2002, wrote Clarkson on X, “I’m far away so I’ve only just heard that Quentin Willson has died. We had some laughs over the years. Properly funny man.”

“Quentin Willson gave me proper advice and encouragement during my earliest attempts at TV, back in the late 90s. I’ve never forgotten it. Great bloke,” May posted on X.

Born July 23, 1957 in Leicester, England, Willson was a motoring journalist and former car dealer who joined Clarkson to co-host BBC’s Top Gear in 1991. He went on to host his own classic car series The Car’s the Star on BBC, as well as property show All the Right Moves.

Following Top Gear‘s original cancellation, Willson joined Channel Five’s rival show Fifth Gear as a presenter until 2005, going on to create Britain’s Worst Driver for the network. In 2015, he hosted Channel Five’s The Classic Car Show.

Willson was also an outspoken advocate for consumer parity, and he campaigned for lower government fuel duty as a national spokesman for FairFuelUK. He resigned from the lobby group in 2021.

He is survived by wife Michaela and their three children.

Though he was best known as Philadelphia’s fan-favorite radio host, Pierre was actually from California. What began as a temporary opportunity turned into a lifelong home for Pierre. He began by working odd jobs around the station before earning his spot on the airwaves, where his humor and voice established a long-lasting and unbreakable bond with listeners. His signature statement, “Greetings, citizens!” became a daily anthem for generations of radio fans before he died in 2025.

Pierre Started at a San Francisco Radio Station

As a California native, Pierre got his start in radio at a San Francisco station. He worked for 94.9 KSAN-FM, which was one of the country’s first progressive rock stations until it changed its tone into an Urban Country format. The 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards are scheduled for November 3 at the American Museum of Natural History, where they will be hosted by American triple-threat Teyana Taylor, who can be seen in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and, of course, on the runway at Vogue World: Hollywood. The actor, choreographer, and singer joins a list of past hosts that includes Anne Hathaway and Cynthia Erivo.

In addition to honoring American fashion and cementing its future, one of the ceremony’s most endearing traditions is that, in addition to famous presenters, who are more often than not actors, supermodels, and singers—it invites American designers to do the honors. This year, the lineup portends a fabulous night filled with both up-and-comers and stalwarts.

Joseph Altuzarra will present the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award alongside actor Leslie Bibb, who most recently appeared in the third season of The White Lotus. Resident funny guy Benito Skinner of Overcompensating fame will join Jennifer Fisher to introduce the American Accessory Designer of the Year Award. Addison Rae and Christopher John Rogers—both Libras hailing from Louisiana!—will introduce the Google Shopping American Emerging Designer of the Year category, and CFDA chairman Thom Browne will present Ralph Rucci with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Founder’s Award in honor of Eleanor Lambert will be given to Cynthia Rowley by Julianne Moore, and Jerry Lorenzo of Fear of God will receive the Innovation Award Presented by Amazon Fashion from Ava DuVernay. Ariana DeBose and Amber Valletta will give the Positive Change Award to Donatella Versace, who is being recognized for her advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community, and her support of young talents, and Vogue’s Nicole Phelps will present the Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute to her fellow New Yorker Andre Walker. Pieter Mulier will receive the International Designer of the Year Award from Naomi Campbell.

Nominees and honorees were announced early in September as New York Fashion Week got going, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America has shared that the recipient for the Fashion Icon recognition will be none other than Vogue’s May 2025 cover star A$AP Rocky.

The rapper, who is known as a menswear oracle of sorts and acted as co-chair at the 2025 Met Gala, has a label of his own as part of his creative agency AWGE. Rocky is also the creative director of Puma and Ray-Ban and has fronted campaigns for labels including Bottega Veneta and Calvin Klein, in addition to designing a capsule for Moncler. “A$AP Rocky is a fashion icon in the purest form,” CFDA chairman Thom Browne said. “He is one of a kind. His truly original approach to fashion inspires me, and so many, to think differently.”

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan faced a lot of heat for his hosting in the last Weekend Ka Vaar, with many calling him biased towards Amaal Mallik. Some even suggested he should retire from hosting Bigg Boss. However, this Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman made a spectacular comeback, returning in his fun, bold, sarcastic, and fierce avatar, not just for the contestants, but also for his haters.
