David Jonsson Prison Movie Hits TIFF

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

Prison yards contain a multitude of characters, but prison movies tend to focus on the same handful of archetypes: The badass that nobody dares to mess with, the tougher-than-he-looks newcomer who teaches everyone a lesson after they foolishly think they can mess with him, or the charismatic leader who gets the cell block to see past their differences and work together. You don’t often see movies centered around the guy who easily can be messed with and becomes everyone else’s punching bag while his own life gets worse and worse.

But prisons are filled with those guys who never make their way onto a movie screen, and Cal McMau’s directorial debut “Wasteman” centers around one of them. Taylor (David Jonsson) isn’t anybody’s worst nightmare or fearless leader. He’s a soft-spoken man whose eyes are filled with regret and whose posture suggests a deep desire to just be invisible. He desperately wants some kind of relationship with his young son on the outside, but any time he manages to place a call to his kid’s mother, he’s quickly dismissed and asked not to contact her again because his son “doesn’t know” him.

Easy's Waltz

The only thing that occasionally dulls his pain is opioid use, as the British prison has a thriving drug-trading industry involving a variety of goods and services. It gets him through the day, but he’s all too happy to walk away from it when he’s presented with an opportunity for early parole (due to issues with prison overcrowding, rather than any of his own behavior). The chance to get his life back is nothing short of a godsend, but Taylor is warned that his last months need to be entirely mistake-free.

That shouldn’t be a problem, as Taylor would never be mistaken for a troublemaker. But he is soon assigned a new cellmate, Dee (Tom Blyth), who is looking to deal drugs and make a name for himself. Overflowing with machismo and misplaced aggression, he quickly assumes that Taylor is someone who can be broken and molded into an asset for himself. He seems like he might have heard the old adage that you need to find the biggest guy in the yard and beat him up on your first day in prison, but thought that going after the smallest and weakest guy would work just as well.

Their relationship is toxic from the get-go, painting a clear portrait of the ways that hard drugs can take a man’s soul and the violent personas that prisoners end up wearing as disguises without even realizing that they’ve changed. Taylor’s entire incarceration has revolved around keeping the peace and fitting in, but his new circumstances force him to consider how far he’s willing to push his own boundaries in order to survive.

The film alternates between cinematographer Lorenzo Levrini’s carefully composed shots, which often reflect Taylor’s loneliness and regret with cool colored lighting and deep shadows, and vertical phone camera footage of impromptu prison fights. But by switching between found footage and something more traditional without committing to either extreme, “Wasteman” finds itself in an unpleasant middle ground that puts a significant ceiling on its visual storytelling potential. And while much of the film’s message revolves around the senselessness and brutality of prison violence — a point that nobody could possibly miss — McMau and Levrini often lean too heavily on shaky camerawork during their fight scenes, creating their (presumably) desired sense of chaos at the expense of imagery that would give us a clearer picture of the actions they’re condemning.

Amid all the barbarity for barbarity’s sake, Jonsson carries the film with a deep well of unspoken regret. There’s an innocence that shines through all of his actions, showing that even a man who has spent most of his adult life incarcerated doesn’t have to let it change his priorities. Blyth provides a fitting foil to Jonsson’s softness with his endless spring of ruthless aggression, forcing Taylor’s primal survival instincts to butt against his more civilized sense that there has to be something more for him in this world. It’s the kind of high level character work that illustrates why Jonsson is one of the most exciting actors of our time. He simply deserved a better movie to showcase this particular character.

Grade: C+

“Wasteman” premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. It is currently seeking U.S. distribution.

Aly Goni Hits Back At Trolls Targeting Jasmin Bhasin’s Abaya Video Amid Ganpati Chant Row: Deets Inside!!!

by jummy84 September 8, 2025

Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin’s interfaith relationship has once again become a topic of discussion. Recently, Aly found himself at the center of online trolling related to religion. In India, where faith is deeply intertwined with culture, every action tied to religious identity often draws attention. The latest controversy stemmed from a video in which Aly did not chant “Ganpati Bappa Morya” along with other devotees. Once the clip surfaced on social media, it quickly went viral, prompting a flood of negative comments directed at the Khatron Ke Khiladi: Made in India star.

Aly Goni reacted to trolling over Jasmin Bhasin’s abaya video

Aly Goni recently spoke about the trolling Jasmin Bhasin faced for wearing an abaya during their 2023 visit to the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi. In a conversation with FilmyGyan, he explained that the controversy resurfaced after he was targeted for not chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Aly dismissed the false claims suggesting Jasmin had been forced to convert and clarified that both Jasmin and his sister wore the garment as it was a requirement for entering the mosque.

“Jasmin aur meri behen jab wahan gaye the toh unhe enter nahi karne diya, toh unhone paas se abaya kharida, vo pehna aur enter kiya. Ab usko ye bana diya hai ki main Jasmin ko Madina lekar gaya. Toh ab aap dekho, maine ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ nahi bola toh log kya kya bolrahe hein.”

Aly Goni responds to trolls targeting him for not chanting ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’

Television actor Aly Goni faced trolling after he joined Jasmin Bhasin for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations at Nia’s home. Once he got pulled into the controversy, Aly chose to respond openly. In a recent chat with Filmygyaan, he explained that he had simply been lost in his own thoughts during the festivities and never imagined the situation would be blown out of proportion. He said:

“Mere ko samajh hi nahi aaya ki matlab agar mai apna khyaalon me tha, mai kaha pe tha… mai soch raha tha, kya kar raha tha maine kabhi itna dhayaan hi nahi diya ki ye cheez ko le ke bhi itni badi problem ban sakti hai.”

Aly went on to share that this was his first time attending a Ganpati Puja. He had never taken part in it before because he was worried he might unknowingly say or do something inappropriate during the worship. He said: “Mai pehli baar gaya hun ganapati me… mai jata nahi hun. yeah because see mere ko nahi pata ki jab kahi puja ho rahi hoti hai… Ganapati ki puja ho rahi thi… mujhe kabhi samjh nahi aaya ki mera waha ja kr koi matalab nahi kyunki mujhe nahi pata waha kya karna hai. Mai aaj tak poori zindagi yahi sochta raha ki mujhse kuch galat cheez na hojaye waha par ki sab puja kar rahe ho aur mai… qki mai bahut random hun… mai kabhi kuch bhi bol leta hun.. kuch bhi kar leta hun.”

Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin’s Bond

Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin share a committed relationship that blossomed from a close friendship into love. The two first met on the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi in 2018, where they developed a strong connection. It wasn’t until their stint together on Bigg Boss 14 that Aly realised his true feelings and confessed them to Jasmin, who had already admitted she felt the same way. In 2025, the couple marked a new chapter in their journey by moving in together. They also run a YouTube channel, JasLy, where they share glimpses of their relationship and keep fans updated on their lives.

Baaghi 4 Defies Odds: Tiger Shroff’s Film Hits Double Digits On Day 2, Rakes In Rs 24.54 Crore | Glamsham.com

Sajid Nadiadwala’s action thriller Baaghi 4 is turning out to be the season’s dark horse. Following a thundering opening on Friday with a net accumulation of ₹13.20 crore, the movie kept the momentum going on Saturday with a minting of ₹11.34 crore. That takes the film’s two-day total to ₹24.54 crore (NBOC).

The trend has piqued trade analysts’ interest, as the film saw only a 13–14% drop from its Eid holiday release — a much better hold than anticipated. Even with competition from festive celebrations such as Ganpati Visarjan, the film’s occupancy rates remained solid nationwide.

Mass Appeal and Audience Connect
One of the strongest aspects of Baaghi 4 is its mass belt performance. Single-screen cinemas are reporting huge turnouts, as people are cheering for Tiger Shroff’s high-octane action and the larger-than-life drama of the film. Parallel to this, urban multiplexes too have reported satisfactory collections, ensuring a balanced contribution from both ends of the market.

The boost is provided by the high family and young voter turnout, making it a crowd puller in all centers. The mix of action-packed sequences with power, emotional overtones, and entertainment quotient is resonating well with varied audience segments.

Sunday Outlook and Beyond
With Sunday remaining, trade analysts are looking for a robust jump in collections, which would propel the film’s weekend figures to a high pedestal. Surpassing initial box office expectations, Baaghi 4 is now turning out to be not only a sure-shot commercial proposition but an outright winner in the mass entertainment arena.

With the word going on and the trend strong, the film’s promise is paving the way for a bright extended run.

Baaghi 4 is running successfully in cinemas near you!

Kim Kardashian has questioned US President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

Kim Kardashian has questioned Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration

The 44-year-old reality star has previously met with Trump at the White House to discuss criminal justice reform but is disappointed by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ramping up raids as part of the President’s anti-immigration policies.

Speaking in Venice on Thursday (28.08.25) at Diane Von Furstenberg’s DVF Awards, where she was honoured for her prison reform advocacy, Kim told Variety: “In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country.’

“But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected.

“People I know. People my friends know.”

The Kardashians star continued: “You want to believe that there’s a powerful message in protection, but then you see that it’s not really happening like that.

“It’s really tough, but I think that we have to do what we can to protect the people that have really supported and built our country.”

Kim had previously slammed ICE raids in Los Angeles in June and suggested that there “has to be a better way” to tackle illegal immigration after the raids sparked mass protests.

She wrote on Instagram: “When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our country safe and remove violent criminals – great. But when we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what’s right.

“Growing up in LA, I’ve seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of this city. They are our neighbours, friends, classmates, co-workers and family.

“No matter where you fall politically, it’s clear that our communities thrive because of the contributions of immigrants. We can’t turn a blind eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to be a BETTER way.”

Meanwhile, Kardashian revealed in Venice that she would consider returning to the White House in an attempt to facilitate the release of Erik and Lyle Menendez – who were both denied parole recently after spending over 30 years in prison for the 1989 murder of their parents.

She said: “I would love to.

“(The Menendez brothers) are in a state prison so the governor is really in charge of that decision, but I would go to any administration and any White House to fight for the rights of people I believe in.”

Kelly Osbourne hits out at wrestler Becky Lynch over Ozzy joke

by jummy84 August 26, 2025

Kelly Osbourne has hit out at wrestler Becky Lynch over a distasteful joke she made about her late father, Ozzy.

  • READ MORE: Ozzy Osbourne, 1948-2025: culture-smashing revolutionary that redefined rock and reality TV

WWE brought its live TV show WWE RAW to the BP Pulse LIVE in Birmingham last night (August 25). The event took place just over a month after the death of the Black Sabbath frontman and soloist on July 22, aged 76.

In a nod to filming taking place in the Prince Of Darkness’ hometown, Lynch told Nikki Bella: “I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing that came out of here died a month ago.

“But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city.  Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.” The sound of boos could then be heard from the crowd.

Viewers were quick to criticise the remark, with some calling it “very disrespectful” and saying it was “too soon”.

Today (August 26), Kelly Osbourne took to her Instagram Stories feed to call out Lynch’s ill-advised comment.

“[Becky Lynch] you are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham would not piss on you if you were on fire. #birminghamforever. Shame on the WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”

You can see a screenshot of the message in the post below. Lynch has not yet apologised or responded to the backlash at the time of writing.

Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter Kelly has criticised Becky Lynch’s comments from last night’s WWE Raw in Birmingham, England.

In a segment with Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch said: “You can have your match, but in Paris at Clash, because I’m not wrestling in Birmingham. The only good thing… pic.twitter.com/OaleCRMAlt

— Cultaholic Wrestling (@Cultaholic) August 26, 2025

Ozzy Osbourne, though never active in a WWE ring, was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2021. He first appeared in WWE programming at WrestleMania 2 in 1986, when he was ringside to support to help The British Bulldogs win the World Tag Team Championships. He and Sharon Osbourne hosted an episode of WWE RAW in 2009.

His last contribution to the WWE was for 2022’s Survivor Series: WarGames event, for which he let the company use Black Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’ as its theme song, and appeared in a video package. In the package, he sang along to ‘War Pigs’, and said: “Welcome to WarGames.”

Ozzy’s death certificate confirmed his cause of death to be a heart attack, while also mentioning that he was suffering from coronary heart disease and Parkinson’s. The document listed his occupation as “Songwriter, Performer and Rock Legend”.

Kelly paid her first pubic tribute to her late father last month, before thanking fans for their “love, support and beautiful messages” in the wake of his death.

“Grief is a strange thing,” she continued. “It sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be OK for a while, but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I’m holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.”

Kelly joined her mother Sharon, brother Jack, and sister Aimee for a public funeral procession in Birmingham on July 30. Ozzy was then laid to rest in the grounds of his UK mansion after a private ceremony.

Jack has also shared a tribute to Ozzy, writing: “He lived and he lived his life fully. I love you dad.”

Ozzy passed away just 17 days after his huge final live show with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, which raised “a ton” of money for Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Meanwhile, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme has compared Ozzy Osbourne‘s death to David Bowie’s, saying they were both “poetic”.

Live Nation Stock Hits Record, Sphere Entertainment Posts Big Gain

by jummy84 August 23, 2025
written by jummy84

Gains by some live entertainment stocks and solid performances by multi-sector companies were overshadowed this week by German concert promoter CTS Eventim’s double-digit decline and a more modest single-digit drop from Spotify.

CTS Eventim shares fell 16.6% to 81.20 euros ($95.18) this week following Thursday’s mid-year results that showed a sharp decrease in adjusted EBITDA despite the concert promoter achieving record revenue. Numerous analysts reacted by decreasing their price targets. The most drastic revision came from Oddo BHF, which reduced its price target to 86 euros ($100.81) from 117 euros ($137.15) and downgraded its rating to “neutral” from “outperform.”

Related

In addition, Bernstein lowered its CTS Eventim price target to 100 euros ($117.22) from 104 euros ($121.91) and maintained its “outperform” rating. Deutsche Bank dropped its price target to 109 euros ($127.77) from 117 euros ($137.15) but kept its “buy” rating. MWB Research lowered its price target to 100 euros ($117.22) from 105 euros ($123.08) and upgraded its rating to “buy” from “hold.”

The Billboard Global Music Index (BGMI) dropped 2.6% to 3,023.51, breaking a two-week winning streak and lowering the index’s year-to-date gain to 42.3%. Winners outnumbered losers 10 to 8, and one company, Deezer, was unchanged.

Major indexes were mixed this week. In the U.S., the Nasdaq fell 0.6% and the S&P 500 gained 0.3%. The U.K.’s FTSE 100 improved 2.0%. South Korea’s KOSPI composite index dropped 1.8%. China’s Shanghai Composite Index rose 3.5%.

Other than CTS Eventim, live entertainment companies posted solid gains. Live Nation reached a new record of $166.54 on Friday and closed at $165.72, up 3.0%. Earlier in the week, MoffettNathanson initiated coverage of Live Nation with a $195 price target and Wolfe Research increased its price target to $177 from $173.

The two Dolan family-controlled live entertainment companies bounced back from an off week. MSG Entertainment was the week’s biggest gainer, rising 6.8% to $39.33. Sphere Entertainment Co. rose 6.5% to $42.46. A week earlier, MSGE shares fell 3.1% after the company’s earnings announcement revealed a 74% decline in fiscal year net profit and Sphere Entertainment shares fell 1.0% following second quarter earnings.

Music streaming companies produced more losers than winners. Spotify fell 5.4% to $692.99, lowering its gain in 2025 to 48.5%. LiveOne slipped 6.3% to $0.60. Tencent Music Entertainment dropped 0.8% to $25.35, although it’s still up 127.4% this year. Netease Cloud Music gained 2.5% to 287.00 HKD ($36.73), bringing its year-to-date gain to 155.8%.

Multi-sector companies’ stocks performed well, with Reservoir Media (up 5.1%), Warner Music Group (up 3.8%), HYBE (up 0.7%) and Universal Music Group (up 0.6%) posting gains. SM Entertainment and JYP Entertainment fell 2.8% and 2.9%, respectively

“Nahi Bolti Toh Problem”: Janhvi Kapoor Hits Back At Trolls With Confidence | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 August 20, 2025
written by jummy84

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has responded to the trolling she faced after a video of her chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during a Dahi Handi event went viral. The incident, which took place at a Janmashtami celebration in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, quickly became a topic of debate on social media, with many netizens questioning her choice of words at a religious event.

The Viral Video and Public Reaction

On Saturday, Janhvi attended a Janmashtami event in Mumbai, where she was seen participating in the traditional Dahi Handi festivities. As part of the celebration, she broke the matki (pot) with a coconut and shouted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” a slogan typically associated with patriotic events like Independence Day or Republic Day.

This spontaneous moment quickly went viral, but it was met with mixed reactions. Many people found it amusing and jokingly suggested that Janhvi had mixed up Janmashtami with national events, while others criticized her for what they called a “goof-up.” Some took to social media to label her action as inappropriate for the occasion. One user wrote on X, “I request all Bollywood celebrities, please don’t ruin Hindu festival celebrations. If you are here for promotions, kindly understand the festival and its importance.” Another user joked, “Rotated so hard between occasions and festivals this week that she forgot their names and reasons.”

Janhvi’s Clarification and Response

Rather than letting the trolling slide, Janhvi decided to respond and provide context behind the viral clip. The actress took to her Instagram stories to share the full video, explaining that the video had been edited to create a meme. In the unedited version, BJP MLA Ram Kadam is heard prompting the crowd with, “Bolo Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” before Janhvi joins in. Following the chant, she proceeds to break the matki.

“Nahi Bolti Toh Problem”: Janhvi Kapoor Hits Back At Trolls With Confidence 2

Janhvi addressed the trolls with a witty message, writing, “Just for context full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material. (laughing emoji) Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi, roz bolungi Bharat mata ki jaiiiii. (If I didn’t say it after they did, that would’ve been a problem. And if I do say it, the video gets edited and turned into meme material. By the way, not just on Janmashtami — I’ll say Bharat Mata Ki Jai every single day).”

Work Front and Upcoming Film

Despite the trolling, Janhvi has kept a positive attitude and continues to focus on her work. The actress is currently promoting her upcoming film Param Sundari, where she stars opposite Sidharth Malhotra. The film, set to hit theatres on August 29, is generating considerable buzz, and Janhvi’s fans are excited to see her in a new role.

The incident, while amusing to some, highlights how easily moments can be taken out of context in today’s digital age. Despite the backlash, Janhvi’s calm and confident response proves her resilience and unwavering pride in her patriotism.
