Inside Ricky Hatton’s Health & Drug Struggles Before His Death – Hollywood Life

Just two months before he was supposed to make his boxing comeback, Ricky Hatton died at 46 years old. Naturally, fans and friends in the sports world were heartbroken and wanted answers regarding his cause of death, which has yet to be confirmed. However, some may recall that Hatton opened up about health struggles during his final years — specifically, with mental health and drugs.

Below, Hollywood Life is breaking down what we know about Hatton’s life before death.

Ricky Hatton’s Mental Health Struggles

In August 2023, Hatton sat down with Daily Mail to discuss the aftermath of his fights against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, both of which he lost.

“After the Mayweather fight, I started drinking a lot more heavily, and ultimately, I fell out with my parents, and that was difficult for me and I did not care if I lived or died,” Hatton said, before admitting, “I contemplated suicide many, many times. I started thinking of different ways to get through it, and I thought I could drink myself to death.”

Hatton elaborated by confessing he “couldn’t walk down the street” after his defeats because he was “so embarrassed,” adding, “I didn’t want to show my face. I know that seems a bit strong but that’s what was in my mind.”

“I thought everyone was looking at me saying, ‘He told us he was going to beat Mayweather and he didn’t,’” the late world champion explained. “It’s a shame really but was the start of my mental health struggles.”

Hatton was also concerned that his son, Campbell Hatton, could inherit his late father’s struggles.

“There’s a possibility Campbell could experience the same mental health problems as me,” Hatton said. “I have said to Campbell, ‘If there is anything on your mind, come to me.’ I nearly wasn’t here to enjoy the things that I am loving today. Spending time with my grandfather and seeing Campbell turn professional. Seeing my girls turning into the young ladies they are today. I nearly wasn’t here to experience that, as I was suicidal. So, I will hammer him every day asking if he’s OK.”

Ricky Hatton’s Drug Use Before Death

In that same interview with Daily Mail, Hatton pointed to his past drug use in addition to drinking. “So, consequently I got more depressed, and I ended up taking drugs to enable me to drink more, and it was a vicious circle,” he said.

In mid-2018, a video of Hatton’s cocaine usage surfaced, and he entered rehab, according to multiple outlets.

How Did Ricky Hatton Die? His Cause of Death

Hatton’s official cause of death has not been determined by the time of publication. Authorities were called to Hatton’s Hyde, Greater Manchester, England, home, where he was found dead. Greater Manchester Police noted his death was not considered “suspicious” in a public statement.

If you or someone you know is in emotional distress or considering suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Paediatrician explains how parents can handle 7 common health emergencies at home: From nosebleeds to choking

by jummy84 September 13, 2025
written by jummy84

When there are young children at home, many emergencies can occur in the blink of an eye. They are energetic and sometimes land themselves in trouble, injuring themselves. You may feel confident about your first-aid knowledge, but knowing the correct steps and performing them safely makes a very big difference when it comes to immediate care during these urgent moments.

When kids are at home, health emergencies can happen out of the blue. (Freepik)

Dr Amin Kaba, consultant in paediatric medicine at Narayana Health SRCC Children’s Hospital, Mumbai, told HT Lifestyle that while one may have some basic information about first aid, it is often too “fragmented” to be of practical use during emergencies, especially if learned from just seeing or reading it somewhere.

He said, “Knowing basic first aid methods is important, but it’s more crucial to perform them correctly so as not to compromise the life you’re trying to save.”

First aid is important as the quick action during emergencies may mitigate risks of complications and even be life-saving. But a line needs to be drawn as well, between first aid and professional medical care. This is particularly true for serious injury or trauma.

The paediatrician added, “In case of serious injury/ trauma, the first-aid would be to call for help and let a professional guide you through what you need to do. But for minor and more common injuries, extensive research has been conducted on first-aid methods.”

For extensive knowledge about first aid, he suggested that parents can enrol in “first-aid workshops” so that they can get hands-on training and practice real-life scenarios.

Dr Amin Kaba shared with HT Lifestyle 7 common emergencies and how parents can handle them:

1. Nosebleed

When children suffer from nosebleeds, their heads shouldn’t be tilted back due to the risk of choking.(Shutterstock)
When children suffer from nosebleeds, their heads shouldn’t be tilted back due to the risk of choking.(Shutterstock)
  • Avoid: Tilting the head back can make the blood travel from the nose to the throat, which could put the child at risk of choking or swallowing blood.
  • Instead, try: Get the child to sit up and lean forward. Pinch the nose and ask the child to breathe through the mouth. Continue this for 10-15 minutes. Then place a cold compress on the bridge of the nose. Make sure the child doesn’t blow their nose immediately after bleeding stops.

2. Fainted

  • Avoid: When someone faints, our immediate course of action is to shake them and then try to get them to sit up when the shaking doesn’t help.
  • Instead, try: Start by checking the child’s breathing and pulse. Allowing them to lie down, place pillows or a small footstool under their feet and elevate both legs. Ensure good air circulation around them and loosen any tight clothing. If feet and hands are cold, rub them to warm them up.

3. Muscle strain/ bruises/ back pain

  • Ice should be used for acute situations, like sudden sprain of joints such as the ankle or bruising with swelling, or muscle strain, within the first 24 hours after an injury.
  • Heat is for chronic conditions, like back pain.

4. Thorn, glass or splinter injuries

  • If the tool you use isn’t sterile or if you underestimate how deep the wound is, there is a greater risk of infection at the site of the injury.
  • Whether your child has a thorn or a piece of wood or glass lodged in, sterilise the skin where the object is lodged, your hands and the pincers you may use to remove it.
  • If you are unable to remove or are unsure of removing it yourself, it is best to take your child to a healthcare facility.

5. Burn injuries

  • In case of burns, hold the site of the burn under cool water for at least 20 minutes.
  • Dab with a clean cloth, dust antiseptic powder or rub a little natural aloe vera (if you have it) and cover with a clean gauze cloth. Never rub ice or an ice pack on burns.

6. Choking

  • The Red Cross has updated its guidelines on how to give first aid to choking victims.
  • So instead of going straight for the Heimlich manoeuvre, here’s what you need to do instead. Stand behind the child, lean them forward, and give their back five quick blows with the heel of your palm.

7. Fracture

Seek medical help instantly rather than trying to align the broken bones manually.(Shutterstock)
Seek medical help instantly rather than trying to align the broken bones manually.(Shutterstock)
  • In case of fractures, avoid pressing down on the site of fracture will re-align the bone.
  • Pressing on the fracture can cause deeper injury to surrounding muscle tissue, nerves and blood vessels, or break the tender bones of children even further.

As a parent, it is common to be anxious about these childhood emergencies, but for kids, who are at the age to play, they cannot be grounded for safety measures. Instead, being aware saves the day, and this includes active intervention from the parents’ side to understand the many first-aid responses to these emergencies and how to respond calmly.

HEALTH Channel Anger and Fear on “ORDINARY LOSS”

by jummy84 September 12, 2025
written by jummy84

Heavy Song of the Week is a feature on Heavy Consequence breaking down the top metal, punk, and hard rock tracks you need to hear every Friday. This week, No. 1 goes to HEALTH’s new single “ORDINARY LOSS.”

HEALTH have described their new album as one of “anger, fear, and catharsis,” and the band’s decision to announce it amidst this week’s news cycle — on September 11th of all days — seems calculated to some degree. Singer Jacob Duzsik pretty much sums it up in his album-announce quote, one of the more eye-opening press release quotes we’ve encountered in some time:

“The future is shit and the phone you are reading this on is making it worse, but please don’t put it down.”

The misanthropy extends to the music itself, as heard on the opening track and lead single “ORDINARY LOSS.” Electro-industrial percussion pounds away through a claustrophobic mix, the only concession to melody being Duzsik’s unmistakable, clean-sung coos. But even those are used to transport some grim phrases (“All that’s left is sadness” … “The dead are blessed with no dreams”). Harsh music for harsher times.

Honorable Mentions:

AFI – “Holy Visions”

“Holy Visions” is another fine example of AFI‘s current sonic direction, which is basically full-blown ’80s gothic new-wave worship. If there’s one knock on this track versus the previous single — a HSOTW selection — it’s that AFI get a little too ’80s trope-y here, whereas “Behind the Clock” saw the band exploring an open-ended arrangement that was more distinct in character. Still, this is topshelf stuff if you’re in the market for goth new wave in 2025.

Bad Omens – “Impose”

Bad Omens continue to subvert expectations, ditching metal and metalcore entirely on the R&B-tinged “Impose.” The use of breakbeats and electronic textures results in a melodic cascade that rises and falls in volume. Singer Noah Sebastian follows suit, his emotive vocals remaining steady and unwavering, never quite rising to a scream. The band wear this style well — maybe too well, at least for the contingency of fans who prefer when Bad Omens keep it more metalcore.

Coheed and Cambria – “Key Entity Extraction VII: Yuko the Trivial”

If you don’t keep up with Coheed and Cambria‘s ongoing world-building concept albums — the band has its own saga of sci-fi lore at this point — approaching a song titled “Key Entity Extraction VII: Yuko the Trivial” might seem like jumping into the proverbial deep end. Thankfully, you don’t need to know much about the band’s “entities” or storylines to enjoy their latest single. This four-minute pop rocker is as accessible as anything in the band’s canon, and even if the lyrics are informed by a narrative, they’re universal enough to stand on their own.

Chase Chrisley Reveals Health Issue on ‘Chrisleys: Back to Reality’

by jummy84 September 10, 2025
written by jummy84

The Tuesday, September 9, episode of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality featured Chase Chrisley dealing with some health issues that he was having trouble getting to the bottom of. He opened up to girlfriend Jodi Laine Fournerat about feeling “kind of scared” as he struggled to keep food down.

“Within, like, the last year I’ve lost a lot of weight,” Chase said. “My body’s just, like, rejecting food.” He told Jodi that he couldn’t “keep anything down” and admitted to feeling “absolutely miserable.” Footage showed Chase getting sick after multiple meals, and Jodi revealed that he even had trouble keeping down water sometimes.

While Jodi tried to change her boyfriend’s diet to see if that would help, he “refused.” He saw a doctor who wanted to run tests on his stomach and gallbladder, as well as possibly a CT scan to see if he had a brain tumor.

On a phone call from prison, Chase’s dad, Todd Chrisley, said Chase had been struggling with the stomach issues for years, but noticed that it had gotten worse since his parents went to prison in January 2023. “You find out what’s wrong and you get it fixed, and you go on with your life,” he urged his son.

Even amid her tension with Chase, Savannah Chrisley was worried, too. “There is some fear in me that something’s gonna happen to Chase. And it’s very valid,” she admitted. “Just in the way that he looks. Chase is not Chase.” She pointed out that her brother has “rings around his eyes” and lost a lot of weight.

“He’s not who I know as my brother,” Savannah added. “I feel like I’ve already buried my brother.” The specifics of Chase’s health issues were not revealed within the episode, but there’s still one more episode to go next week.

How Did Billy Porter Get Sepsis? His Health & Updates on His Condition – Hollywood Life

Billy Porter is one of the most iconic and theatrical performers out there, and until recently, he was starring as Emceee in Broadway’s Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club. Unfortunately, he had to back out due to a “serious case of sepsis,” the company shared in September 2025. Naturally, fans of Billy were concerned about his condition and wondered how he even got it in the first place.

“Due to a serious case of sepsis, Billy Porter must also withdraw from the production,” a statement from the production’s Instagram account read. “His doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery but have advised him to maintain a restful schedule.”

Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club is also closing earlier than expected. The final show is scheduled to take place on September 7, 2025.

Below, Hollywood Life has updates on Billy’s health, and we’re explaining what we know so far about his case of sepsis.

Who Is Billy Porter?

Only one of the entertainment industry’s most charismatic performers, of course! Billy has established himself as an on-screen and stage talent. On Broadway, he earned a Tony Award for his electrifying performance as Lola in Kinky Boots, and he appeared in major productions, including Smokey Joe’s Café and Grease. On screen, Billy gained international recognition for his Emmy Award-winning role as Pray Tell in FX’s Pose. He also starred as the memorable Fairy Godmother in Amazon’s Cinderella and voiced Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins in Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.

When it came to Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Billy opened up about his and co-star Marisha Wallace‘s experiences as the first Black actors to portray their respective roles in the show.

“Our backstories are, we fled the Jim Crow South to go to Europe, thinking we would be free, only to be then carted off with the Jewish people to our deaths,” Billy told New York Theatre Guide in July 2025. “It’s simple. It’s ourselves. We bring our authentic selves to these roles. And simply, as African Americans, that’s all we need to do.”

How Did Billy Porter Get Sepsis?

At the time of publication, Billy has not commented on his condition, but it typically occurs when the body reacts dangerously to an infection. According to the Cleveland Clinic, bacterial infections — fungal, parasitic and viral — are the most common causes of sepsis.

Since sepsis is not contagious, it can’t spread to other people.

What Is Sepsis? Explaining the Condition

Sepsis is a condition that happens to the body when its immune system has a harmful reaction to an infection. It results in inflammation that could lead to tissue damage and organ failure.

Sepsis can be fatal if not treated properly.

Jay-Z’s S*xual A$$ault Accuser Says Her Mental Health May Suffer If Her Identity Is Revealed

After stepping away from her lawsuit against Jay-Z, the woman behind the now-dismissed claims is asking the court for something else: the right to stay hidden.

According to AllHipHop, in a recent court filing, she expressed fears that revealing her identity could trigger harassment and cause serious harm to her mental health and family life.

Her psychiatrist, Dr. John T. Olsen, backed the plea with a strong warning to the judge.

Olsen went further, adding that the risk of relapse is high and could deeply affect her long-term stability.

While Jay-Z continues to pursue a defamation claim against her, she’s now fighting for her anonymity.

Should she stay a Jane Doe?

Lisa Christiansen’s Passion for Pet Wellness: From Hollywood to Health Advocacy

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Actress Lisa Christiansen shares her commitment to pet wellness and the impact of proper nutrition and mental care.

I’ve always been into more natural remedies when it comes to certain health issues, but it definitely took off during the pandemic when I was really focused on finding ways to keep my family healthy. I’ve always had dogs over the years, so I’ve seen a myriad of health issues. I’m a big fan of adaptogens and different herbs, and I wondered if there were things that I was using that could help my dogs, too.

My passion began in childhood, growing up with a menagerie of adopted and rescued animals. I saw firsthand how small changes in diet and daily routines dramatically improved their happiness and vitality. As my platform grew, and I realized I could use my voice to advocate for better standards in pet care, from educating about the importance of balanced meals to sharing the benefits of enrichment activities. I believe that true pet wellness comes from approaching their needs as complex, sentient beings, deserving of the same love and attention we give ourselves.

It was those things combined that led me to put my fur babies on The Farmers Dog, which I began due to Cindy, my Chinese Crested, who passed away from cancer but not before The Farmers Dog extended her life by over one year. My veterinarian agreed and concluded that adding The Farmers Dog did play a significant role in extending her quality of life and offered her more time here with us before cancer took her.

Pet wellness includes nutrition, exercise, and mental health, but what aspect do you think is often overlooked when it comes to a pet’s overall well-being?

I think mental health is something that’s definitely been overlooked for people, and of course that applies to animals as well.

Absolutely, I think mental health for pets is one area that doesn’t get enough attention. People often focus on feeding high-quality food and getting their pets outside for exercise, but emotional well-being is every bit as important. Pets are deeply affected by the energy and routines within their homes; changes, loud noises, or periods of isolation can really impact them. I’ve found that making time for gentle, focused moments like daily play, puzzle toys, or even short training sessions helps create a sense of security and engagement. Enrichment activities, routine, and positive reinforcement go a long way in preventing anxiety and behavioral issues. Sometimes, it’s just about sitting quietly together and being present those moments can mean everything for a pet’s sense of peace.

I believe our pets can sense how we’re feeling and our energy, so it definitely can affect how they are feeling. Anxious pets are often ones who have anxious parents!

With the holiday season approaching, it’s easy for pets to overeat or miss out on proper nutrition. How do you keep your pets on a healthy diet during this time?

It’s a challenge for all of us! I try to keep all the dogs consistent with their normal meals, but if I know that they’re going to be getting some special treats such as turkey from the table or something, I’ll try and cut their normal food down just a bit.

The holidays are a whirlwind of celebration and change not just for us, but for our pets, too. To keep my dogs on track, I try to keep their feeding routines consistent, resisting the temptation to give them table scraps or holiday treats that could upset their digestion. Instead, I prepare special, pet-friendly snacks using wholesome ingredients I know are safe for them, like steamed veggies or homemade dog biscuits. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to involve my family in caring for our pets, remembering the importance of lovingly saying “no” to begging eyes when it comes to foods that aren’t good for our furry friends.

Beyond nutrition, staying active is crucial during this busy time. Even when our schedules are packed, I make sure we take daily walks or have a little playtime in the yard. I find that not only does it help keep my dogs physically fit, but it also supports their mental well-being something often overlooked amid the festivities. A little extra love, structure, and mindfulness around the holidays can go a long way in making sure our pets are as happy and healthy as possible heading into the new year.

Some pet owners are hesitant to invest in pet insurance. What would you say to them about the importance of having that extra protection for their pets?

I would say that each person knows their pet and finances best, so they should make the best decision for themselves. I definitely know that vet bills can become overwhelming, especially since I have multiple pets and have seen all sorts of health issues and emergencies come up over the years.

How do you balance your career with your advocacy for animal welfare? What drives you to continue this important work?

Balancing my career with advocacy for animal welfare is never a simple task, but it’s one that brings immense purpose to my everyday life. My drive to remain active in this work stems from the deep connection I have with animals their resilience, loyalty, and ability to enrich our lives in countless ways. While my professional commitments can be demanding, I’ve learned to intertwine my advocacy with my career by seeking opportunities where my platform can amplify the voices of those who cannot speak for themselves.

It often requires careful planning and a willingness to prioritize, carving out time for shelter visits, nonprofit collaborations, or community education events, even when my calendar is overflowing. I remind myself that every small effort contributes to a much larger movement. It’s the hope of making a tangible impact whether that’s finding a forever home for a senior dog, championing humane legislation, or supporting grassroots rescue groupsthat keeps me going.

My work is fueled not only by compassion but also by the knowledge that, together, we can create lasting change. Every story of an animal saved or a family reunited with a beloved pet encourages me to persevere, knowing that there is always more to be done.

Looking ahead, I’m constantly inspired to deepen my commitment to animal welfare. The landscape is always evolving—new challenges arise, but so do innovative solutions. I’m passionate about harnessing partnerships and technology to reach broader audiences, whether that’s through social media campaigns, educational webinars, or hands-on volunteering. It’s important to me to foster a culture of empathy and responsibility, encouraging others to recognize the value of advocacy not just as a passion but as a shared duty.

I see each day as an opportunity to build on what’s been accomplished, knowing that my individual efforts are part of a larger tapestry woven by countless advocates, volunteers, and pet lovers. The stories of transformation from frightened rescues blossoming into beloved companions, to communities rallying around animal-friendly initiatives remind me that collective action truly matters.

No matter where my career or personal journey leads, animal welfare remains at the heart of everything I do. My hope is to inspire others to join in, so that together, we can ensure a safer, kinder world for all creatures one paw at a time.

Eye surgeon says ‘signs of poor eyesight in children are often overlooked’; shares tips for early detection and care | Health

Children often can’t voice when their vision isn’t right, making it tricky for parents to spot early eye problems. Dr. Jay Goyal, Eye Surgeon, LASIK specialist, retina specialist and Director at Surya Eye Hospital, Mumbai, shares with HT Lifestyle the warning signs to watch for and simple steps parents can take to protect their child’s eyesight. (Also read: Eye surgeon warns ‘kids under 5 are spending twice the recommended screen time’; shares tips to protect their vision )

Dr. Jay Goyal highlights warning signs of vision problems in children for parents and teachers. (Freepik)

“Every day, nearly 34 lakh children in India go to school with uncorrected vision. Many of them have refractive problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, which makes it hard for them to see clearly in class. As a result, they often end up learning less than their peers,” says Dr. Jay.

He adds, “The real challenge, however, is that signs of poor eyesight in children are often overlooked. When vision problems go undetected, they can affect not just academic performance but also daily activities. This is why parents and teachers need to be aware of children’s eye health and watch for signs that a child may need glasses.”

Signs your child is struggling with vision problems

Dr. Jay further lists a few signs that indicate your child may be experiencing vision problems and needs glasses:

1. Lack of concentration

Children with visual impairments soon become disinterested in long-term activities such as games or projects. They find these tasks difficult since they are unable to perceive things clearly. Moreover, kids with visual impairments refrain from reading, painting, playing games, or working on tasks requiring close attention. Your child can find it hard to see where they are on the page while they read, whether they are reading aloud or quietly. Kids may be discreet about their problems and choose not to tell you about them.

2. Holding handheld electronics too close to the eyes

Poor vision may be indicated by sitting too near the television or holding handheld electronics too close to the eyes. Myopia, often known as nearsightedness, causes people to see well up close but poorly at a distance. An image becomes larger and more lucid when an object is brought near.

3. Excessive eyerubbing

Your child may be experiencing eye strain or fatigue if they rub their eyes excessively. This could be an indication of various eye disorders, such as allergic conjunctivitis.

4. Eye pain or headaches

Your child may be overexerting their eyes to improve their blurred vision if they complain of headaches or eye pain at the end of the day.

5. Squinting

Squinting could indicate that your child has refractive error, a condition that impairs eye focus. Your toddler might be able to momentarily increase an object’s focus and clarity by squinting.

6. Covering one eye or cocking the head

For better clarity, the child may tilt their head or cover one eye to change the angle of vision. This could mean that your child has amblyopia, commonly referred to as lazy eye, one of the most prevalent eye conditions in kids, or that their eyes are misaligned.

Routine eye exams in schools are essential for identifying visual issues in children. (Freepik)

What to do if your child has vision problems

Dr Jay explains, “Routine eye exams must be performed in schools to identify visual issues in youngsters. The parents must also take their children for regular eye exams. Seeing an eye care professional for a thorough eye exam is crucial if your child fails a vision screening. A comprehensive eye examination will also check the clarity and sharpness of vision.”

“It may also look for myopia, signs of more serious eye problems like depth perception, strabismus (crossed eyes), and eye alignment. Treatment by an ophthalmologist must begin as soon as possible if any of these issues are discovered,” he says.

“Optimal vision plays a vital role in a child’s learning and overall development. Poor eyesight can silently limit a child’s ability to perform well in school, participate in activities, and build confidence. It is therefore important that parents and teachers pay attention to early signs and ensure timely eye check-ups to help children reach their full potential. Protecting a child’s eye health today is an investment in their brighter, more successful tomorrow,” Dr Jay concludes.
