Sinclair Broadcast Group refused to air Jimmy Kimmel Live! on any of its ABC-affiliated stations despite his show’s restoration on the Disney network. Jimmy Kimmel will still broadcast live on ABC moving forward, but with Sinclair’s “pre-emption,” how will this impact the media conglomerate’s revenue?

Here, we break down how much money Sinclair makes from its television stations and more about the company.

Who Owns Sinclair Broadcast Group?

Sinclair was founded by Julian Sinclair Smith, and the company is owned by Smith’s descendants.

How Much Money Does Sinclair Make? See Revenue

The total reported revenue for Sinclair in 2024 was around $3.55 billion. It’s been a Fortune 500 company since 2021. Annual revenues have been in the billions of dollars for the entire company.

Sinclair is second-largest operator of television stations in the U.S. after Nexstar Media Group.

Will Sinclair Air Jimmy Kimmel?

No, Sinclair is refusing to air Jimmy Kimmel Live! despite ABC’s reinstatement of the show. Sinclair announced that it will “be pre-empting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return.”

In a press release, Sinclair announced that it would not air Kimmel’s show because the late-night host made a comment about Tyler Robinson, the suspected shooter of Charlie Kirk.

“The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during a September 15, 2025, episode of his show. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”

Sinclair’s Vice Chairman, Jason Smith, called Kimmel’s comments “inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country.”

“We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities,” Smith added. “We appreciate FCC Chairman [Brendan] Carr’s remarks today and this incident highlights the critical need for the FCC to take immediate regulatory action to address control held over local broadcasters by the big national networks.”

Sinclair added in its press release that it will “not lift the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on [its] stations until formal discussions are held with ABC regarding the network’s commitment to professionalism and accountability.”

The broadcast group also called on Kimmel to issue a direct apology to Kirk’s family and to make a “meaningful personal donation to the Kirk family and Turning Point USA.”

“Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return Jimmy Kimmel Live! to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform,” the news release continued.

Shortly after news broke of Kirk’s death, Kimmel sent his condolences to the Kirk family and condemned gun violence in a public statement. He wrote via Instagram, “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

Which ABC Stations Does Sinclair Own? How Many it Oversees

Sinclair owns 40 ABC channels in 30 U.S. markets, according to a 2024 financial disclosure report from the company. It also listed the expiration dates for these affiliates, which will be on August 31, 2026.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back in its late-night slot on ABC, but certain television stations run by Sinclair Broadcast Group will not air the show. The media conglomerate owns multiple stations associated with ABC and announced that Jimmy Kimmel is still “pre-empted” from airing on its channels. So, what exactly is Sinclair, and what is its significance in the television industry?

The Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, and Kimmel were negotiating his return during his week-long suspension. A spokesperson for the company announced on September 22, 2025, “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

Get a breakdown of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s stations, influence on television and more below.

Will Sinclair Air Jimmy Kimmel?

No, as of now, Sinclair will not broadcast Kimmel’s late-night show in its normal time slot. After ABC confirmed his return to the airwaves, Sinclair announced that it will “be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live! across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return.”

Why Won’t Sinclair Air Jimmy Kimmel?

In a press release, Sinclair announced it would not air Jimmy Kimmel Live! because the late-night host made a comment about the suspected shooter of Charlie Kirk, Tyler Robinson.

“The MAGA Gang (is) desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during a September 15, 2025, episode of his show. “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”

“Regardless of ABC’s plans for the future of the program, Sinclair intends not to return Jimmy Kimmel Live! to our air until we are confident that appropriate steps have been taken to uphold the standards expected of a national broadcast platform,” the rest of the news release read.

Shortly after Kirk was fatally shot, Kimmel issued a public statement condemning gun violence and sending his condolences to Kirk’s family. His full statement read, “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” Kimmel wrote in a message he shared to Instagram. “On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

Statement from Shaun Davies MP on stepping down as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events

by jummy84 September 11, 2025
written by jummy84

Statement from Shaun Davies MP
Yesterday, Wednesday 10th September 2025, I was appointed to the role of Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Defence, John Healey.

While I am very excited to be taking my first role in Government, and supporting its work, this does unfortunately mean that due to strict rules regarding activities outside of Government, I can no longer hold officer roles in All-Party Parliamentary Groups, Therefore, and with much regret, I will be standing down as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events with immediate effect.

I am very sorry to be leaving this role at such an important time, after just publishing our Plan of Work and Calendar of Activity, and at a time of some uncertainty, with recent changes at both the official and ministerial levels. But I know that with the assistance of our Secretariat, Davies Tanner and advice from The Business of Events, and with the continued support of our Parliamentary Members and Vice Chairs, and that of our Corporate Partners, that the APPG will continue to represent this important and world leading sector in Parliament with unrelenting enthusiasm and dedication.

I am proud that we were able to re-establish the APPG so quickly after last year’s General Election, and feel that, together, we have made great progress in helping to unlock the potential of this incredibly important industry, and it’s been a real pleasure to meet with so many people and organisations during the past year.

There is no doubt that the last year has been a learning experience for me personally, and I do hope that I have been a suitable voice and
representative for the events industry in Parliament. I will continue to champion the value of the sector both as an MP, and now within
Government, at every opportunity.

I will be working with Davies Tanner over the coming days as we begin the process of electing a new Chair, and I am sure they will provide further updates to you in due course.

Thank you again for your support during my period of being Chair of the APPG, and I wish every one of you continued success. My interest in and recognition of the industry, together with my own constituency links to it, endure and I will continue take a keen interest and remain a strong advocate and supporter.

Best wishes,
Shaun Davies MP
Member of Parliament for Telford

Sanjay Dutt reveals he started a theatre group in jail: ‘Murder convicts were my actors’

by jummy84 September 8, 2025
written by jummy84

Actor Sanjay Dutt’s experience inside prison has left an indelible mark on him. He recently opened up about how his passion for acting helped him cope with his time behind bars. He shared that he formed a theatre group inside the jail, with murder convicts as his actors.

Sanjay Dutt was in Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail from 2013-2016. (PTI)

Sanjay Dutt looks back

Recently, Sanjay joined Suniel Shetty for a fun outing in Kapil Sharma’s comedy show The Great Indian Kapil Show. During his appearance in the show, Sanjay looked back at time spent inside prison.

Talking about his life, Sanjay said, “I don’t regret anything that has happened in my life. My main regret is that my parents left me too soon. I really miss them.”

Following which, Archana Puran Singh asked Sanjay what he did with the furniture which he built while doing carpentry in jail.

Sanjay responded, “I earned wages there. Whether I made chairs or paper bags, I got paid. Then I even started a radio station, called Radio YCP. It was once played only inside the jail. I was also paid for that. I did the radio program. We had topics to talk about, and we also did some comedy. Three or four other prisoners would write the script for the program.”

“I even started a theatre group, and I was the director and murder convicts were my actors,” he added.

More about Sanjay Dutt’s tumultuous past

Sanjay is the son of late actors Nargis and Sunil Dutt. He was sentenced to prison by a TADA Court in 2007 for illegal possession of weapons in a 1993 case. After the Supreme Court upheld this decision in 2013, the actor surrendered. He was in Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail from 2013-16.

His fans got a glimpse of his life through Rajkumar Hirani’s film Sanju, in which Ranbir Kapoor was seen living his life. In one particular scene in the film, Ranbir as Sanjay was seen in a helpless state due to an overflowing toilet in jail. After completing his sentence, Sanjay came out of prison in 2016 and has since been active in the film industry.

Sanjay tied the knot with Maanayata in 2008. The couple share twins. They currently reside in Dubai, with Sanjay frequently traveling to Mumbai for professional commitments. He was most recently seen in Baaghi 4 which also stars Tiger Shroff, Sonam Bajwa, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, Shreyas Talpade, Saurabh Sachdeva, Upendra Limaye, and Sheeba Akashdeep Sabir.

Thomas Schumacher to Depart Disney Theatrical Group

Thomas Schumacher to Depart Disney Theatrical Group

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Thomas Schumacher, a leading force in growing Disney Theatrical Group into one of the most successful and influential theater producers on Broadway and around the world, will step down as DTG’s chief creative officer at the end of this month after a decades-long tenure at the company.

The move was announced in a studio-wide memo sent Sept. 3 by Alan Bergman, the co-chairman of Disney Entertainment. After Schumacher’s departure, DTG will be led by managing director Andrew Flatt and executive producer Anne Quart, two longtime company veterans who have worked closely with Schumacher for some 20 years.

After his Disney exit, Schumacher “will continue shaping the face of the global theatrical landscape as a behind-the-scenes force focused on the next generation of artists and audiences,” Bergman said in his memo. He’ll also work as a consultant for DTG in the wake of the transition.

Schumacher initially joined Disney Animation as a producer on the 1990 movie sequel “The Rescuers Down Under,” at a time when the conglom’s animation arm was beginning its resurgence with megahits including “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” — all three of which the company has adapted into internationally successful stage properties. Schumacher was eventually named president of Disney Animation in 1999 before shifting duties to focus solely on the oversight of Disney Theatrical in 2002.

Launching in 1994 with the Broadway adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast,” Disney’s theatrical division — which Schumacher has run for 26 of its 31 years in existence — has produced 10 Broadway titles in total including three of the 15 longest-running shows in Broadway history (“The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Beauty”). The company’s stage productions have been seen by more than 240 million theatergoers worldwide, according to Disney stats, and won 20 Tony Awards. Over the years, DTG’s 30 global stagings of the 1998 Tony winner “The Lion King” have played a key role in establishing the Disney IP as the top-grossing title in any medium.

Disney Theatrical and its family-friendly productions were also integral components in Times Square’s transformation from de-facto red light district into the tourist-trafficked, all-ages nexus that it is today. Along the way, the popularity of Disney shows has helped draw an ever-increasing stream of family theatergoers to Broadway (where attendance hit 14.7 million for the 2024-25 season, up more than 60% from the 1994-95 season when “Beauty” opened). Meanwhile, the enduring revenue streams generated by Disney’s stage successes have encouraged a growing number of other Hollywood studios and IP holders to give Broadway a try.

During his time at the helm of DTG, Schumacher also won over an insular Broadway community that was initially skeptical of a corporate studio’s incursion into the theater district. He went on to serve as the chairman of the board of the Broadway League, and is currently on the League’s Tony Administration Committee.

In his memo, Bergman added that Schumacher also “has grown Disney on Ice, pioneered sensory-friendly Broadway shows, and developed an expansive program to enable schools to produce Disney musicals on their own stages. He has been a tireless supporter, advocate, and leader of the theatre community, playing a key role in turning Broadway’s lights back on during the unprecedented pandemic shutdown. It’s a truly remarkable record.”

Schumacher said in a statement, “Thirty-eight years ago when Peter Schneider at Disney Animation asked me to produce ‘The Rescuers Down Under,’ I had no idea it would lead to four decades working with some of the most exceptional creative artists in the world — both in animation and theatre. I’m proud that Disney Theatrical will be in the extraordinarily capable hands of Andrew Flatt and Anne Quart, with whom I’ve worked for over 20 years. I can’t wait to see how they lead this peerless organization forward.”

As noted in Bergman’s memo, DTG leaders Flatt and Quart will continue to report to Cathleen Taff, Disney’s president of production, franchise management and theatrical distribution.

Disney Theatrical currently counts two long-running Broadway titles — “The Lion King” and “Aladdin” — among its 21 productions now running around the world. DTG’s next major musical outing, “The Greatest Showman,” is gearing up for a world premiere in the U.K. in the spring.

The Occasionall Group: Strategic Leadership Shift as Managing Director Josh Heyburn takes on Lecturer Role and Natalie Evans’ Contribution is Recognised in Promotion

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

The Occasionall Group, a leading provider of event staffing solutions, today announces a strategic leadership transition that reflects both its growth and its commitment to people-first values. Managing Director Josh Heyburn will be shifting his focus from daily operations as he begins a new role as Lecturer in Event Management at Buckinghamshire New University, while long-time team leader Natalie Evans is promoted to People & Culture Director. Together, these changes represent both stability and evolution, as the company enters its next chapter with confidence.

Josh’s Message:

“Founding this company and leading it through the past few years has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It’s been fast-paced, people-driven, and full of growth – and it’s only possible because of the brilliant team around me.

This shift marks a new chapter, not a departure. Becoming Founding Director allows me to focus more intentionally on strategic leadership, while starting a new role as a Lecturer in Event Management – a space where I hope to bring industry insights to the classroom, while also bringing a fresh perspective back into the business.

I’m incredibly proud of everything TOG has become, and proud to see Natalie formally step into the role of People & Culture Director. Her leadership, insight, and commitment have shaped the company in ways that most people don’t even notice – and I can think of no more capable person to take it forward.

With this transition, our clients, partners, and staff can expect more of what they’ve always known from TOG: thoughtful delivery, responsive leadership, and a people-first approach that puts culture at the centre of everything we do.”

Natalie’s Leadership & Continuity
Having worked closely with Josh to build and grow the company, Natalie has been pivotal in shaping TOG’s team-centred culture, developing the systems that underpin its success, and leading operations with consistency and care. Her promotion formally recognises this impact, while also reassuring clients and partners that the same high standard of service will continue seamlessly.

From Natalie:

“I’m honoured to step into the role of People & Culture Director at The Occasionall Group. Working alongside Josh to grow this business has been an incredible journey. My priority now is to ensure that our team and clients continue to feel fully supported – there will be no change to the level of excellence our clients expect from TOG.”

What This Means for the Team & Clients
Josh will continue to support the business strategically, particularly during peak event seasons, while Natalie provides strong, day-to-day leadership. This transition has been designed to be seamless, ensuring clients continue to experience the same reliability, professionalism, and exceptional service TOG is known for.

Looking Ahead
The Occasionall Group remains committed to delivering excellence for clients, staff, and the wider events community. With a leadership transition built on trust, shared values, and continuity, the company is poised for continued growth and success.
