bitchy | George Clooney: ‘We’re going to get through it, but a lot of damage is going to be done’

George Clooney covers the latest issue of Esquire, all to promote his latest movie, Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly. Clooney plays a movie star who wonders if he really showed up for the people in his life. I’ve seen some horrible reviews of the film, but Clooney has enough money and power to ensure that Jay Kelly still has “Oscar buzz.” For me, Clooney is permanently sh-tlisted after what he said and did last year (and this year) about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. This Esquire interview emphasizes yet again that Clooney’s meddling and ratf–king was always just a political abstraction for him, he’s not actually living under the fascist conditions he helped facilitate. He lives full-time in England, France and Italy now. But of course he still has sh-t to say about American politics in this interview:

Performing Good Night, and Good Luck on Broadway: “I was really nervous, as an actor, which I hadn’t been in a long time… I mean, part of it was strictly age related. As you get older—I’m sixty-four—and as you get older, it doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat; your brain starts to lock up. I had all these long monologues, and I was afraid of blowing my lines. So every single night for one hundred performances, I would do the whole play in the dressing room before I went onstage. I was so terrified.”

His twins are well-adjusted & they’re being raised in France: “Yeah, we’re very lucky. You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for them, it’s like—they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life. I was worried about raising our kids in L. A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France—they kind of don’t give a sh-t about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.”

He came to fatherhood so late: “The only thing I feel lucky about is that I’m so much older that the idea that my son would be compared to me is pretty unlikely, because by the time he actually will have done anything, I’m gonna be gumming my bread.”

America will get through the bad times: “I do believe we get through these things, and if you think back to the times that have been really bad in the country—we’ve had them. I think ’68 was as bad as we could have had. Every city in the United States was on fire and rioting, and the capital was surrounded by armed guards to protect themselves. We killed Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy that year. There was the Tet Offensive…So if you look at it, you go, we’ve been in bad places before. Certainly the Civil War. So we’re going to get through it, but a lot of damage is going to be done along the way because of where we are. And it is heartbreaking to see. And Democrats are gonna have to get their act together— And they will. Coming out of the Iraq war and all that is what brought us Obama—brought us a really good leader. And we’re gonna need it.”

Whether he will ever write another NYT op-ed about a Democrat again: “I don’t think so. I think people have heard enough from me. I wasn’t doing it to, you know—I was doing it because I’d been a personal witness to things, and I also, quite honestly—[Clooney was interrupted].”

He did cocaine in the 1980s. “Eighty-two, I tried—I did blow and stuff. I used to make jokes about how I did too many drugs, but the truth is, it was never a big issue for me at all. And look, there was an episode of Taxi where they’re all doing blow. At the time, it was like, No, this is not like heroin. It’s not addictive. But then it was like, Oh, well, it’s actually pretty f–king bad. Plus, it was all cut with mannitol. The baby laxative. Everybody would do a line and then take a s–t.”

He’s always been a booze guy: “I’ve had periods where, I wouldn’t say it was a problem—I never woke up and drank or anything. But I’d have runs where I’d get pretty toasty every night.”

[From Esquire]

I think Clooney and the podbros say sh-t like “we’ve been through bad times before, we’ll get through them” to avoid taking responsibility for their ratf-cking. Oh, so NOW we should all get along, NOW we should come together? Where were those sentiments when we should have come together to stop this Trump authoritarianism from happening in the first place? Why hasn’t Clooney written a NYT op-ed about Trump’s age and dementia, you know? Where is the 24-7 nitpicking of Trump’s policies from that crew? Anyway, Clooney mostly ran back his greatest hits in this interview and it was just sad. He’s too old to function as a movie star anymore, he needs to step down. We can hold a primary to elect the next Clooney.

bitchy | George Clooney: ‘I have normalcy, I drive my kids to school every morning’

by jummy84 October 5, 2025
written by jummy84

This week, George Clooney has been promoting Jay Kelly, his latest film. It’s directed by Noah Baumbach and I read one scathing review of it at the Daily Beast. The review notes that the film is “saccharine, toothless, and cheesily meta” and it’s “straining to thread a needle so that it bittersweetly laments its A-lister’s shortcomings while nonetheless forgiving him for them.” And on top of all that, Laura Dern plays Jay Kelly’s publicist. HARD PASS. Anyway, I wanted to note something I was thinking about as Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s marriage suddenly crashed and burned this week: one week ago, I definitely would have said that the Clooneys are much more likely to split than Keith and Nicole. Especially given the vibe around George and Amal for the past year. But according to George, everything is going swimmingly in his marriage and his family. From some of his assorted interviews:

His routines: “I have normalcy. You know, I drive my kids to school every morning. I have normalcy — except for this [premiere]!”

He isn’t suffering from a “what does it all mean” crisis like Jay Kelly: “There wasn’t that many similarities, in a weird way. Because he’s a guy who’s just so sad about his career and his life because he didn’t have friends and family, and he surrounds himself with people that just, he paid. I’ve been very lucky to have great family and great friends, and my kids actually like me still. They’re young.”

His big life lesson: “The greatest lesson I learned is to marry the right person, which I did. And so, it has been nothing but an honor and a pleasure to be married to my wife.” George, 64, also shared that he and Amal, 47, marked their latest anniversary by going out to dinner together.

[From People Magazine]

The bloody school run! Did I miss a memo or something? When did “the school run” become the sole barometer for “a humbling experience and an equalizer among men?” The way Prince William goes on and on about the school run, you’d think it was the most important aspect of parenthood. As for his marriage… well, who knows. I certainly wouldn’t want to be married to a ratf-cking drama queen, but Amal certainly appears to be in it for the long haul.

George Michael – Father Figure Song Lyrics | Glamsham.com

by jummy84 October 3, 2025
written by jummy84

Song Name – Father Figure
Singer – George Michael

Check out Father Figure Song Lyrics by George Michael

That’s all I wanted, something special
Something sacred in your eyes
For just one moment to be bold and naked
At your side

Sometimes I think that you’ll never
Understand me (Understand me)
Maybe this time is forever
Say it can be, woah-woah, oh

That’s all you wanted, somethin’ special
Someone sacred in your life
Just for one moment, to be warm and naked
At my side

Sometimes I think that you’ll never
Understand me (Understand me)
But somethin’ tells me together
We’d be happy, woah-woah, baby

I will be your father figure (Oh, baby)
Put your tiny hand in mine (I’d love to)
I will be your preacher, teacher (Be your daddy)
Anything you have in mind (It would make me)
I will be your father figure (Very happy)
I have had enough of crime (Please let me)
I will be the one who loves you
‘Til the end of time (Of time)

That’s all I wanted, but sometimes love can be mistaken
For a crime
That’s all I wanted, just to see my baby’s
Blue eyes shine

This time I think that my lover
Understands me (Understands me), hee
If we have faith in each other
Then we can be strong, baby

I will be your father figure
Put your tiny hand in mine (My baby)
I will be your preacher, teacher
Anything you have in mind (Hee)
I will be your father figure
I have had enough of crime
I will be the one who loves you
‘Til the end of time

If you are the desert, I’ll be the sea
If you ever hunger, hunger for me
Whatever you ask for, that’s what I’ll be
So when you remember the ones who have lied
Who said that they cared, but then laughed as you cried
Beautiful darling, don’t think of me, because all I ever wanted
It’s in your eyes
Baby (Baby, baby)
And love can’t lie, no
Greet me with the eyes of a child
My love is always tellin’ me so
Heaven is a kiss and a smile
Just hold on, hold on, and I won’t let you go, my baby

I will be your father figure
Put your tiny hand in mine
I will be your preacher, teacher
I’m everything you have in mind, baby
I will be your father figure
And I have had enough of crime
So I am gonna love you
‘Til the end of time

I will be your father (I will be your)
I will be your preacher (Father)
I will be your father (I’ll be your daddy, oh)
I will be the one who loves you
‘Til the end of time

As Taylor Swift launches her showgirl era, she’s paying tribute to another great musician also known for pushing boundaries in his career.

George Michael‘s estate recently teased Swift’s update of the late artist’s 1987 hit ‘Father Figure’ as “such a special moment,” appearing on the 14x Grammy-winning artist’s upcoming 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, which debuts Friday.

“We were delighted when Taylor Swift and her team approached us earlier this year about incorporating an interpolation of George Michael’s classic song ‘Father Figure’ into a brand new song of the same title to be featured on her forthcoming album,” George Michael Entertainment shared in a statement on Facebook.

“When we heard the track we had no hesitation in agreeing to this association between two great artists and we know George would have felt the same,” the estate continued. “George Michel Entertainment wishes Taylor every success with The Life of a Showgirl and ‘Father Figure’.”

In August, Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl as her next album. Deadline later exclusively reported that AMC had secured an Oct. 3-5 release for the album’s accompanying film of the same name.

“We were delighted when Taylor Swift and her team approached us earlier this year about incorporating an interpolation of George Michael‘s classic song ‘Father Figure’ into a brand new song of the same title to be featured on her forthcoming album,” wrote Michael’s estate. “When we heard the track we had no hesitation in agreeing to this association between two great artists and we know George would have felt the same,” they continued, wishing Swift “every success with The Life of a Showgirl and ‘Father Figure.’”

George Clooney gives Adam Sandlre a makeover

by jummy84 October 2, 2025

2 October 2025

Adam Sandler has been given a makeover by George Clooney.

George Clooney got Adam Sandler to smarten up

The Uncut Gems actor is known for his love of baggy shirts and shorts with bold prints but at the red carpet premiere of his movie Jay Kelly at the New York Film Festival earlier this week, both he and his co-star stepped out in navy suits and black leather shoes, with George taking the credit for his friend’s new look.

George told People magazine: “I actually [have] been making Adam wear suits. Don’t you think he looks nicer instead of those big baggy shorts?”

The 64-year-old actor – who wore a white shirt with his suit in contrast to Adam’s black top – was thrilled he got to work with the Happy Gilmore star on the film.

He added: “I love him. He’s the sweetest man in the world. He’s a dear friend and the fact that I got to work with him again is [great].”

Adam – who also wore a tuxedo and bow tie to the Venice Film Festival screening of Jay Kelly – previously admitted he finds it “funny as hell” that he has “unintentionally kind of become a style icon” to his fans.

He told Complex: “It’s funny as hell. And whenever one of my kids or their friends talks to me about it… my wife’s like, ‘What the hell are we talking about right now? How did that happen?’

“But my wife [Jackie] always was nice to me about my clothes. Even when we were young, others would say, ‘Would you put on something better than that? Your wife’s dressed so beautifully.’ My wife would say, ‘He’s comfortable like that. Let him do that. Leave him alone.’ “

The 59-year-old star also confessted he doesn’t give too much thought to what he wears.

He told Mystery Fashionist in a TikTok video: “Whatever is in the closet, I grab it.

“I think I got a bunch of the same socks. Underwear’s kinda similar, too. I grab it, I don’t think about it much.”

He laughed: “Most people make fun of me in my family, but I keep moving.”

Despite his lack of effort when it comes to fashion, Adam “accidentally” inspired the Sandlercore trend, which has seen Gen Z’s wear his comfy attire.

He reacted in an interview with PEOPLE: “You know, this is an accidental thing.

“But here I am wearing goofy clothes, and I don’t know. I don’t think about it.”

Taylor Swift Interpolates George Michael’s “Father Figure” on The Life of a Showgirl

by jummy84 October 1, 2025

Taylor Swift is taking it back to the big ’80s.

As confirmed by Billboard, the pop star has interpolated George Michael’s 1987 hit single, “Father Figure,” on a song of the same name that appears on her upcoming new album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The George Michael original shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988. It was the fourth single from Michael’s blockbuster debut solo album, Faith.

The news of Swift’s interpolation of Michael’s song comes after weeks of speculation, and with her The Life of a Showgirl album set for release this Friday, October 3rd. Michael’s longtime partner, Kenny Goss, told TMZ that the pop legend would have fully approved of his music being recalled in such a way.

Thanks to a resurgence on TikTok, Michael’s “Father Figure” will be a relevant and welcome presence on Swift’s new song.

This won’t be the first time Swift has tipped her hat to Michael; back in 2007, she covered Wham!’s perennial “Last Christmas” on The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection EP.

George Riley: More Is More Album Review

George Riley: More Is More Album Review

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

At the turn of the last century, contemporary R&B entered a second adolescence. The power ballads of the 1990s were fading out, replaced by crossover hits that pushed the limits of the genre by incorporating dance, electro, and hip-hop into visions of a glittering future. The 28-year-old singer George Riley was born as this cultural transition kicked off—and her new mixtape, the shiny, upbeat, slightly irreverent More Is More, makes a close study of early ’00s pop. Riley shuffles through retro sounds faster than a TRL lineup, combining rich vocals and radio-ready choruses with a dancefloor-oriented edge. A love letter to the work of producers like Dallas Austin, Darkchild, Jermaine Dupri, and Timbaland, More Is More takes their chopped-up acoustic guitar samples and house-indebted synths—elements that still sound innovative—and blasts them into the present.

Riley’s performances supply the vitality and wit that’s quickly become her trademark among the UK’s most exciting new R&B voices. She arrived on the scene barely four years ago, lending her breathy soprano to Manchester producer Azn’s ebullient dance track “You Could Be”; her 2022 Vegyn-produced breakthrough, Running in Waves, showed a softer side, marrying jazz and soul influences with jungle and electro flourishes. Earlier this year, she stepped into the role of UK garage diva on SHERELLE’s acidic 2-step track “Freaky (Just My Type).” These releases set her up as a fan favorite and critical darling, but More Is More is, well, more: bolder, grander, and musically tighter than anything she’s released thus far.

Riley makes no attempt to hide her influences or to couch them in anything but fervent appreciation. By her own admission, opener “Something New” borrows heavily from All for You-era Janet Jackson; its bubbly, tropical beat and skittering hi-hats recall “Someone to Call My Lover,” a song that’s recently led the Y2K R&B revival trend on TikTok. Riley goes deeper, kicking off a full-bodied garage beat in the middle of the track that gives it just enough bite to set it apart from 2001 Janet. The relentlessly catchy “Forever” twists the hypnotic synth pulse of Kylie Minogue’s megahit “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” into a beachy love song, a rising tide of Spanish guitars and sultry harmonies sloshing at Riley’s feet. Produced by Mura Masa, “Forever” is the best example of More Is More’s mission to tweak massively recognizable sounds just enough to transform them.

The Pearl Jam frontman has been running his own California-based festival since 2016, and was joined by his backing band, The Earthlings, to headline the festival’s first night.

It marked the first time in two years that he and his Earthlings bandmates – who include The Frames‘ Glen Hansard, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and former RHCP guitarist (and current Pearl Jam touring member) Josh Klinghoffer, Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and guitarist Andrew Watt – have performed onstage together.

To mark the occasion, they delivered a cover-heavy set alongside some Pearl Jam classics, kicking off Friday night’s (September 26) gig with a cover of DEVO’s ‘Gut Feeling’ before launching into Pearl Jam’s ‘Corduroy’.

After storming through tracks like ‘Setting Forth’ and ‘No Ceiling’, both played for the first time in years, they covered The Who’s ‘I’m One’ and jammed to the intro of Led Zeppelin’s ‘The Song Remains the Same’ ahead of playing ‘Rearviewmirror’.

Eddie Vedder at Ohana Festival 2025 played:

‘Gut Feeling’ (DEVO cover)
‘Corduroy’ (Pearl Jam song)
‘I’ll Be Waiting’
‘Long Way’
‘The Dark’
‘Setting Forth’ (first time since 2017)
‘Far Behind’
‘No Ceiling’ (first time since 2019)
‘Brother the Cloud
‘I’m One’ (The Who cover)
‘Watch Outside’ (Mono Men cover)
‘Lukin’ (Pearl Jam song)
‘Chad-O’
‘Rose of Jericho’
‘Fallout Today’
‘Save It For Later’ (The Beat cover)
‘The Song Remains the Same’ (Led Zeppelin cover)
‘Rearviewmirror’ (Pearl Jam song)
‘Isn’t It A Pity’ (George Harrison cover)
‘Porch’
‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ (Neil Young cover)

Other covers of the night included The Beat’s ‘Save It For Later’, Mono Men’s ‘Watch Outside’ and George Harrison‘s 1970 track ‘Isn’t It A Pity’, with Vedder rounding things off with Neil Young’s ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’, a longtime favourite of Vedder’s, which saw Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones and saxophonist King join him on stage.

As for Pearl Jam, they embarked on a US tour in support of their latest album, ‘Dark Matter’. The record scored a four-star review from NME last year, with Liberty Dunworth writing: “For those longing for the charismatic songwriting that first put the band on the map over three decades ago, ‘Dark Matter’ will come as a pleasant surprise.”

“Not only does it showcase Pearl Jam reclaiming the charm that first made them a force to be reckoned with back in 1991, it comes alongside some of their most impressive musicianship yet, as well as a determination to take risks after years of playing it safe.”

Charli XCX and George Daniel had their big wedding celebration last weekend following a low-key ceremony in July, and both Caroline Polachek and Yung Lean sang at the bash. Check out the footage below.

The singer, real name Charlotte Aitchison, and The 1975 drummer Daniel celebrated in the Sicilian village of Scopello complete with numerous friends from the worlds of music and celebrity.

Polachek, a frequent collaborator of Charli, sang Daniel Johnston’s 1984 song ‘True Love Will Find You In The End’ as the couple walked down the aisle.

Swedish rapper Yung Lean, real name Jonatan Leandoer Håstad, sang The Stooges’ 1969 proto-punk classic ‘I Wanna Be A Dog’ with a live band, too. Daniel’s 1975 bandmate Matty Healy and his fiancée Gabbriette, both absent from the July ceremony, joined Håsted onstage after the former crowdsurfed for a while, too.

Healy himself performed with his dad, actor Tim, as they sang ‘Perfect Day’ by Lou Reed, one of Charli’s idols. He played a DJ set, too, which included Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’, while his mum, actress and TV personality Denise Welch, was invited too and shared a montage of footage from the celebrations on Instagram.

Among the other musicians there were PC Music founder A. G. Cook and producer Easyfun, who played a remix of Charli’s hyperpop classic ‘Vroom Vroom’, singers Beabadoobee, Robyn, Clairo and Troye Sivan, and actress Julia Fox.

Charli has shared a range of photos from the ceremony on Instagram too, the most recent selection being fronted by one of her and Daniel kissing.

The couple first worked together in 2021, when they recorded the track ‘Spinning’. A year later, they confirmed their romance on social media, and in November 2023, they got engaged.

In a TikTok post, Charli shared that her song ‘Talk Talk’, from her 2024 album ‘Brat’, was written about an incident involving Daniel at the 2020 NME Awards, in which she almost followed him to the bathroom but decided against it when halfway there.

That night, Charli was nominated for Best Solo Act In The World, Best British Solo Act and Best Collaboration. She also presented the Songwriter Of The Decade Award to Robyn alongside Christine And The Queens.

Daniel was also present, with The 1975 being awarded the Band Of The Decade Award, as well as Best British Band and the NME Innovation Award.
