New Trailer for Thai Sci-Fi ‘Project Genesis’ Time Travel Adventure Film

“Reset the timeline by sending out a signal…” Capelight Pictures has debuted the full trailer for a Thai sci-fi movie called Project Genesis, also known as Taklee Genesis, made by filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul. After first debuting last year (first teaser here), this is finally getting a US release direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting in October – in time for spooky season. A time-travel adventure that takes place during the Cold War when a US military base in Thailand was testing the Taklee Genesis, a warp-speed teleporter even though it had not yet been fully developed. After the war, the Taklee Genesis was left behind in Thailand and was being illegally used by someone. A striking blend of practical effects, CGI spectacle, and emotional storytelling, Project Genesis cements Sakveerakul’s reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most imaginative genre filmmakers. There’s dinosaurs, monsters, time travel, and much more in this! Starring Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, Wanarat Ratsameerat, and Nutthacha Jessica Padovan. It’s a breathtaking, high-concept journey that fuses time-travel science fiction with kaiju, dinosaurs, cavemen, and zombies—a bold cinematic mashup that spans over 7,000 years of history. This looks totally crazy! Reminds me of that other Thai CGI movie Rebirth: Home Sweet Home recently. It’s definitely worth a look if you’re a sci-fi geek.

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Chookiat Sakveerakul’s film Project Genesis, direct from YouTube:

Project Genesis Trailer

Project Genesis Poster

Scientist and single mother Stella (Paula Taylor) returns to her hometown after years away. One night, she receives a mysterious transmission on an old radio—it’s her long-lost father, missing for decades and now trapped in space within an alternate time configuration. To rescue him, Stella must track down the “Genesis Machine“, a relic of a classified CIA project hidden somewhere in Thailand. Her quest launches her into a kaleidoscopic journey through time and space—one that will pit her against prehistoric beasts, ancient tribes, mutant creatures, and the boundaries of reality itself. Project Genesis, also known as Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide, is directed by Thai filmmaker Chookiat Sakveerakul, director of the films Evil, The 4 Movie, Grean Fictions, The Eyes Diary, Pay It Forward, Dew, Mondo, and many other new TV series recently. The screenplay is written by Chookiat Sakveerakul, Thanamas Dhalerngsuk, Sorawit Muangkaew. Produced by Monaiya Tharasak, Nakorn Phopairoj, and Kaweenipon Ketprasit. This initially premiered in Thailand one year ago in late 2024. Capelight Pictures will release Sakveerakul’s Project Genesis in the US direct-to-VOD / Blu-ray starting on October 21st, 2025 coming soon this fall. Anyone want to watch this?

After years of fan-driven anticipation, the cult classic Awarapan is finally getting a sequel. Nearly two decades after the film left a lasting impression on audiences with its powerful story, unforgettable music, and Emraan Hashmi’s iconic portrayal of Shivam, Awarapan 2 has officially gone on floors.

The sequel is being directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, which is yet another installment in the hit partnership between the production house and Emraan Hashmi. With a history of creating back-to-back blockbusters like Murder, Jannat, Raaz, and Gangster, this combination is ready to create its trademark magic once again.

Initially planned as a birthday gift to Emraan Hashmi, the project is now going full force. Helmed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, the first shooting schedule of the film has started in Bangkok.

Awarapan 2 vows to continue Shivam’s odyssey of love, tragedy, and redemption with the same vigor and emotional intensity that made the first film a cult classic. Choked with brutal action, heart-stirring music, and gritty drama, the sequel is set to pay homage to the spirit of the first while presenting a new story.

The news has generated excitement among fans, who have long clamored for Shivam’s story to be continued. Emraan Hashmi, usually feted for his brooding performances in the projects of Vishesh Films, will make a comeback in a part that defined his early career.

Mark your calendars—Awarapan 2 is all set to release in theaters on April 3, 2026. This one’s not a sequel—it’s an ode to the fans who made Awarapan all about itself. Prepare for an emotional, action-filled ride all over again.

Freaky Red Band Trailer for ‘In Our Blood’ Mystery Horror Film Trailer

“I can’t be part of this system anymore…” Utopia has revealed their official trailer for the indie horror film titled In Our Blood, the first narrative feature from editor / doc filmmaker Pedro Kos. This first premiered last year at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival, with stops at Screamfast, Mórbido, and other fests. Now set to open in US theaters in October. In Our Blood masterfully blends psychological mystery with chilling horror. The film weaves a twisted tale of reconciling with the ghosts of our past and confronting the complicity we share in creating a world that preys on the most vulnerable. That sounds scary! Nothing is as it seems when filmmaker Emily Wyland teams up with cinematographer Danny to shoot an intimate documentary about reuniting with Emily’s estranged mother after a decade apart. When her mom suddenly is missing, possibly because of the addictions that first tore her family apart, Emily and Danny must piece together increasingly sinister clues to find her before it’s too late. Starring Brittany O’Grady, E.J. Bonilla, Alanna Ubach, Krisha Fairchild, Leo Marks, Bianca Comparato, and Steven Klein. Check out some footage below.

Here’s the official red band trailer (+ poster) for Pedro Kos’ In Our Blood, from YouTube:

The screenplay is written by Mallory Westfall. Produced by Aaron Kogan, Stuart Fenegan, Gary Lucchesi, Michael McKay, Steven Klein. This premiered at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival last year. First Trailer for Ulrich Köhler’s ‘Gavagai’ Meta Film Premiering at NYFF

“I”m nervous about tonight…” Luxbox has revealed the first official trailer for the film Gavagai, the latest from German filmmaker Ulrich Köhler. He is a talented under-the-radar director best known for his post-apocalyptic film In My Room from a few years ago. Gavagai is premiering now at the 2025 New York and Zurich Film Festivals now, before showing at Hamburg and even more fests this fall. It’s a meta story about a filmmaker making a film then encountering racism during its premiere. On the set of a turbulent shoot of a Medea adaptation in Senegal, Africa, Maja seeks solace in a love affair with her co-star Nourou. Months later, they meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Old feelings resurface, but a racist incident unsettles their reunion. Tensions rise as everyone tries to do the right thing. While the ancient tragedy plays out on screen, a contemporary drama unfolds. Gavagai stars Jean-Christophe Folly, Maren Eggert, Nathalie Richard, and Anna Diakhere Thiandoum. This looks quite good! I’m surprised it didn’t show up at any other fests like Venice or TIFF, but I’m glad it’s getting a chance to shine now. Keep an eye out for this one.

Here’s the first official trailer for Ulrich Köhler’s film Gavagai, direct from Luxbox’s YouTube:

Gavagai Trailer

Gavagai Trailer

Extended intro via NYFF: “In this charged, unexpected metacinematic drama from German director Ulrich Köhler, a radical new movie production of Medea, drastically altered from Euripides’s original play, becomes the center of a series of unresolvable contemporary tensions. Nourou (Jean-Christophe Folly) and Maja (Maren Eggert) embody Jason and Medea on-screen, tussling with the film’s high-anxiety director (Nathalie Richard) during the shoot in Senegal, all the while negotiating an adulterous romance off-set. Later, at the film’s premiere in Berlin, Nourou, unresolved in his personal and professional life, has a rattling run-in with a racist security guard, which throws his—and the film’s—world off its axis… Gavagai is [Köhler’s] most ambitious and expansive film yet—a pinpoint-accurate account of moral crises and social biases, modern and ancient, internal and external.“

Gavagai is written and directed by acclaimed German filmmaker Ulrich Köhler, of the films Bungalow, Windows on Monday, Sleeping Sickness, In My Room, and A Voluntary Year. Produced by Ingmar Trost, Clément Duboin. This is premiering at the 2025 New York & Zurich Film Festivals this fall. It will open in German cinemas in January 2026 early next year. No US release is set yet – stay tuned. How does it look?

₹5 crore three days before release; Rishab Shetty film outpaces OG, War 2, KGF”>

Updated on: Sept 29, 2025 04:29 pm IST

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking is going at a breakneck pace, indicating a bumper opening for the Rishab Shetty-starrer prequel.

Rishab Shetty’s heavily anticipated film, Kantara Chapter 1, is releasing in theatres this Thursday (October 2) on the occasion of Dussehra. The film is a prequel to Kantara, the 2021 blockbuster, and hence, carries a lot of buzz. The original film was a huge hit not just in Karnataka, but in north India as well. And the prequel seems to be going even bigger.

Rishab Shetty plays the lead in and directs Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel to the 2022 film Kantara.

Kantara Chapter 1 advance booking

The advance booking for Kantara Chapter 1 opened on Sunday, four days before the film’s release. In a little over 24 hours, the pre-sales for day 1 have touched ₹5.7 crore gross, selling 1.7 lakh tickets already. This breakneck pace of ticket sales has already ensured that Kantara Chapter 1 will have a bigger opening than Kantara, which opened at just ₹2 crore in India back in 2022.

It’s still three days to go for the release of Kantara: Chapter 1, and the film is already outpacing the advance booking collections of recent big releases like Pawan Kalyan’s OG and Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s War 2. Neither of these films had touched ₹5 crore in advance bookings three days before the release. Kantara: Chapter 1 is also outperforming Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1 in pre-sales. The 2019 film was the highest-grossing Kannada film for three years, and the first from the language to cross ₹250 crore worldwide gross.

Kantara Chapter 1 should look to not just surpass but comfortably beat the ₹400-crore gross of the first Kantara, given its hype and scale. And it has taken a good start in that direction with healthy advance bookings. So far, the bulk of the sales have been in Kannada, but as more screens open up in the Hindi belt over Monday and Tuesday, the numbers should pick up. As of now, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned ₹36 lakh in advance bookings in Hindi, and just over ₹5 lakh in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam combined. The rest of the collections have come in the original Kannada version.

All about Kantara Chapter 1

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 explores the origins of the mythology and story told in Kantara. Set ten centuries before the original film, Chapter 1 stars Rishab Shetty, but in a different role this time. Joining him in the cast are Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah. The film releases across India on 2 October.

Ahaan Panday Signs YRF Again For Ali Abbas Zafar’s Romance Action Film

Saiyaara Fame Ahaan Panday To Star In Ali Abbas Zafar’s Romance Action Film- Report

by jummy84 September 29, 2025
written by jummy84

Ahaan Panday has become a rising star in Bollywood after the massive success of his debut film Saiyaara. The romantic drama, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, turned out to be a blockbuster, earning Rs 337 crore at the box office. His co-star in the film was Aneet Padda, who is now working on a courtroom drama titled Nyaya alongside actress Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Ahaan Panday Signs His Next With YRF Again

After Saiyaara took over the box office, many other films released before and after were overshadowed by its success. Now, fans are eager to know what Ahaan will do next — and the wait is over. Ahaan Panday is all set to star in an upcoming action-romance film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, known for hits like Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai. This new project is also being backed by Yash Raj Films and producer Aditya Chopra.

A source close to the production shared, “Ali Abbas Zafar has been planning this action-romance for a while. He’s known for adding emotional depth to his stories, and he wanted to return to the genre that audiences love him for.”

The source added, “Ali was really impressed by Ahaan’s emotional performance in Saiyaara. He has a strong screen presence and handles dramatic scenes very well.”

It was Aditya Chopra who suggested casting Ahaan. He believed that having a fresh face like Ahaan would surprise the audience and keep the excitement alive. “Ahaan’s limited exposure is actually his strength after Saiyaara; people are more curious about his next move,” the source said.

This new project is expected to go on floors soon and could further boost Ahaan’s growing popularity.

The Venice Film Festival spotlighted women in cinema with Reel Women, a late-night celebration hosted by filmmaker, actress, and producer Maria Soccor at the Campari Lounge. Beginning at 10 p.m., the private event drew a mix of filmmakers, producers, actors, and industry executives in support of female-driven storytelling during one of the year’s most influential gatherings.

Soccor, known for her award-winning films and advocacy for underrepresented voices, has built her reputation as a festival presence, often moderating panels and mentoring emerging talent. With Reel Women, she expanded her mission in Venice, fostering dialogue and recognition for women shaping the film landscape.

The guest list reflected the festival’s global reach. Jared Harris attended with his wife Allegra as his new film House of Dynamite premiered at Venice to early acclaim. Other notable attendees included producer Debra Gainor of Producers Without Borders, actress Agathe Levi, producer Vicktoria Silmara Turmina of Mindgate Motion Pictures, Jojo Dye of The Members Club and Producers Without Borders, publicist Jane Owen of Jane Owen Public Relations, Ann Hafström of the Creative Lifestyle Agency, actress Tora Kim, and models Gillian Nation and Tia Goossen.

Maria Soccor

As the oldest international film festival, founded in 1932, Venice has remained a launchpad for cinema’s most significant works, ranking alongside Cannes and Berlin as one of Europe’s premier showcases. This year’s addition of Reel Women emphasized the importance of elevating female creators both in front of and behind the camera.

The evening was presented by Campari in partnership with Maria Soccor Productions Inc. and Jane Owen Public Relations. Guests enjoyed signature Campari cocktails, appetizers, and refreshments throughout the night. “Venice has long been a platform for extraordinary storytelling, and REEL WOMEN was a chance to gather in recognition of the incredible female talent shaping the industry today,” said Soccor.

Maria Soccor

By invitation only, the gathering underscored Campari and its partners’ commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and future voices in film. The Campari Lounge buzzed late into the night with the energy of collaboration and conversation that defines Venice’s most exciting week.

Ulrich Köhler’s “Gavagai” has debuted its trailer with Variety ahead of the film’s screening on Sunday at the Zurich Film Festival.

International sales for the film, which had its world premiere at New York Film Festival on Saturday, are being handled by LuxBox.

The film unspools during the turbulent shoot of a “Medea” adaptation in Senegal. On set, Maja seeks solace in a love affair with her co-star Nourou. Months later, they meet again at the film’s premiere in Berlin. Old feelings resurface, but a racist incident unsettles their reunion. Tensions rise as everyone tries to do the right thing. While the ancient tragedy plays out on screen, a contemporary drama unfolds.

Dennis Lim, artistic director of the New York Film Festival, commented: “Köhler specializes in cunning, tonally surprising films about cross-cultural disconnection, and ‘Gavagai’ is his most ambitious and expansive film yet—a pinpoint-accurate account of moral crises and social biases, modern and ancient, internal and external.”
