While on pause from filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day after suffering a concussion on the Glasgow set, Tom Holland has shared an update with fans.

The actor noted he’s “feeling better and on the mend” amid the week-long suspension from filming as he shared video from a recent gala for his parents’ nonprofit The Brothers Trust, which he attended with fiancée and co-star Zendaya last weekend after sustaining the injury on Friday.

“What a night! Another huge success,” Holland captioned the Instagram post in part. “The Brothers Trust means more to me than I could possibly say and I have to say a huge thank you to my Mum and her wonderful friends for putting on another incredible night. Raising money for fantastic causes and having fun doing it! I’m sorry I had to leave early but I’m feeling better and on the mend. A huge thanks to my Dad for taking over after I left. The show got considerably funnier.”

Tom Holland is seen on the set of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' on August 3, 2025 in Glasgow, Scotland.

On Sunday, Deadline reported that filming halted on Spider-Man: Brand New Day after Holland was treated for a mild concussion, reportedly during a stunt gone wrong, amid production on the Pinewood UK set of the Sony and Marvel Studios movie.

The actor was taken to the hospital and examined, but not admitted. No other cast or crew was affected during the incident.

Filming began in Scotland last month. In October, Sony added Spider-Man: Brand New Day to its summer 2026 schedule with a July 24 release date, later revealing the title in March at CinemaCon. Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s release date was then shifted to July 31.

Feeling lonely this Navratri? Therapist shares 6 tips to navigate through loneliness this festive season

by jummy84 September 26, 2025
written by jummy84

The festive season is a time of joy, celebration, and the warmth of togetherness. However, it may not be a great time for everyone, especially those living far away or cut off from family and friends. Many people experience disappointment and despair during the holidays due to family conflicts, the death of a loved one, and other pressures, which exacerbates the all too prevalent feeling of seasonal loneliness – but rest assured, you are not alone.

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dr Mansi Poddar – a trauma-informed psychotherapist and mental health expert with over 15 years of experience – stresses that the holiday season can be an exceptionally difficult time for some people, which is a completely normal human response to loneliness. She outlines six therapist-approved tips to help cope with festive loneliness, making the season a little easier for those who find it challenging to navigate through the holidays.

1. Acknowledge your emotions

According to Dr Poddar, “Festive loneliness is more prevalent than most people realise. Recognise your feelings rather than ignoring them. By giving your emotions a name, you can lessen their intensity and keep them from turning into self-blame.”

2. Practice mindfulness

According to the therapist, some research indicates that practising mindfulness might help reduce feelings of loneliness. Even if you are only using mindfulness apps and practicing it only for a period of time every day, it makes a difference.

3. Keep a simple routine

Dr Poddar recommends making a to-do list of things you can do, be it daily activities or something special, over the holidays – it helps keep your schedule as well as your mind organised.

She elaborates, “Give yourself permission to let go of everything you are unable to do over the holidays due to emotional, mental, or physical limitations. Try making a menu of things you can do, broken down into high and low-energy activities, if you have trouble sticking to a schedule. It’s crucial that you determine what activities are truly engaging rather than merely something you ‘should’ do.”

4. Treat yourself with compassion

“Imagine a loved one approaching you to share their feelings of loneliness over the holidays. You would most likely listen to their worries, treat them with the utmost kindness, and tell them that you care about and love them,” says Dr Poddar, adding the question, “So why not do the same to yourself?”

She suggests treating yourself the way you would treat someone you love – be gentle with yourself, practice kindness and compassion, believe in yourself, and care for yourself just as you would for a friend.

5. Practice gratitude

“An excellent place to start is with a gratitude diary. Writing down all of your blessings, from the more philosophical to the more mundane, could be a good place to start,” suggests the mental health expert.

Practising gratitude and counting your blessings can help you see the good in people, point out the things you are blessed with, which helps you appreciate what you have – directing your attention to life’s good aspects and eventually, aiding your recovery.

6. Engage with communities

The festive season is a time of celebration and togetherness, so it is only natural to feel lonely. Dr Poddar emphasises that it is a common human sensation and should not be viewed as a personal weakness. “Even if the holidays don’t look like traditional festivities, you may make them a time of healing and purpose by establishing deliberate connections, rituals, and self-care routines,” she highlights.

“The impacts of social isolation can be countered even by conversing with complete strangers. Attend local gatherings like concerts, sporting events, or open-mic nights where you may meet others who share your interests. Become a member of a book club. Make use of social media to broaden your network and get in touch with former acquaintances. Engage in forums and social media groups related to your interests.”

Madhuri Dixit is one of the most gorgeous actresses in the Indian film industry. Many might have had a crush on the actress and must have felt weak in the knees while working with her. But can you imagine the diva feeling shy about doing intimate and intense scenes? It happened with her when she was paired opposite Naseeruddin Shah in Dedh Ishqiya. Scroll below for the deets.

It was directed by Abhishek Chaubey and is the sequel to Ishqiya. Naseeruddin and Arshad Warsi paired again for the sequel. Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz also played supporting roles. Although it was critically acclaimed, the movie failed miserably at the box office. Madhuri played the role of Begum Para. The actress once shared how she felt shy about doing certain scenes with Naseeruddin Shah.

Madhuri Dixit Recalls Feeling Shy With Naseeruddin Shah In Dedh Ishqiya

According to Bollywood Bubble‘s report, Madhuri Dixit confessed, “I was not nervous working with him. His eyes had an intense feeling. Whenever we did intense scenes, I was feeling shy. He is a natural actor; you just have to react when you act with him.” The actress continued, “I was comfortable working with him. I was just playing the character… had fun.”

The report further quoted, “I had seen ‘Ishqiya’ and had loved it. They approached me for the sequel… I loved my character and the story very much. It was a tight script with romance, trust, betrayal, and other elements. We shot in remote areas… Traveled almost two hours… Shot in dirty locations. We all worked very hard, and it was great fun with the team.”

Madhuri Dixit and Naseeruddin Shah worked together in 1996’s Rajkumar. She was also amazed by Shah’s talent and reportedly forgot her lines during a scene. According to AhmedabadMirror, in a resurfaced video, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress said, “When I shot my first scene with him, in the very first scene when he started talking, he is such a good actor. He started talking so naturally that I forgot my lines. For one, two minutes, I went blank. Then, of course, we picked it up, but he has done an incredible job in this film. He has two shades in the film, contrasting completely opposite personalities. He is brilliant in the film.”

Riz Ahmed’s Hamlet Is For Anyone Feeling “Powerless” & “Gaslit” In This Political Moment

When you think of the world of English playwright William Shakespeare, chances are you’re not picturing his Early Modern English text interspersed with Hindi. But maybe you should be. In Hamlet, the 2025 reimagining of Shakespare’s play about a Danish prince who, seeking to avenge his father’s death, slowly descends into madness, filmmaker Aneil Karia transports the infamous story to the streets of London and the city’s vibrant South Asian community. In this re-telling, starring The Night Of’s Riz Ahmed in the titular role, Hamlet’s family aren’t actual royalty, but rather real estate royalty. His father is the head of Elsinore, a lucrative real estate empire changing the landscape of London; his clothes aren’t made of luxuriously spun fabrics or lush velvet, but instead consist of a plain white kurta; the court surrounding Hamlet’s family (in this case business associates and a mix of aunties and uncles) don’t feast on hearty meats and wine, but rather samosas and traditional Indian sweets. And everyone speaks Hindi. It’s safe to say, this isn’t your English teacher’s version of Hamlet.

The project, which premiered at the 50th annual Toronto International Film Festival, was almost 14 years in the making, championed by Ahmed who had a longtime dream of taking on the role of the infamous antihero. While it was a long process to see the movie through to its premiere, the wait was arguably worth it, considering it’s a story that — although written over 400 years ago —  is timelier than ever. “Hamlet is about grief, and Hamlet’s grieving his father, but he’s also grieving an illusion of how he thought the world was,” Ahmed tells Refinery29. “He thought it was a much more fair and just place than it’s turning out to be.”

A lot of injustice is presenting itself to us in a way that’s shocking, and we’re all feeling a bit powerless in the face of it, a little bit gaslit about it as well… we’re feeling complicit in it.

riz ahmed

If that sounds familiar, reflecting, say, the entries of your own journal or conversations you’re having within your own circle of friends and group chats — that’s exactly the point. Around the globe, social and political injustices, the reappealing of human rights,  ongoing genocide, and climate disasters have remained a constant and incessant onslaught. “I think a lot of people are feeling that way right now, right?,” Ahmed says of Hamlet’s realization. “A lot of injustice is presenting itself to us in a way that’s shocking, and we’re all feeling a bit powerless in the face of it, and we are feeling a little bit gaslit about it as well, and then we’re feeling complicit in it.”

While the particulars may be different, In essence, Ahmed adds, this idea of feeling powerless and trying to do something to change that  is Hamlet’s journey. “Shakespeare wrote that storyline 500 years ago, and here we are today, still going through that journey.”

The decision for Ahmed and Karia to situate the story in a South Asian community is one that came easily. Given Ahmed’s own background, it made the most sense. “It’s as simple as I connected to this play and I wanted to play this role,” Ahmed says. “Riz is South Asian so that means his family has got to be South Asian,” Karia adds. “And suddenly there you go, we have a South Asian Hamlet.”

While the decision to situate this particular version of Hamlet within the South Asian diaspora of London was one made out of necessity — the fact that Ahmed himself is South Asian and drawing from his own experiences is natural for such a closely held project, you can’t help but feel like telling the story within this particular community in this particular time period is the only way a filmmaker could have brought the story into the 21st century, at least in an authentic and believable way.

“It became so much more rich than we could ever imagine,” Ahmed says of grounding the story in this community. Karia adds: “We were constantly being surprised by how these somewhat archaic and kind of whimsical or fantastical details in Shakespeare, like the ghost world, family, honor, remarrying within the family and things like this, which can feel fantastical in some adaptations, started to feel relevant to contemporary South Asian communities.”

“It felt like there was some conversation between modern South Asian existence and this ancient text, which was really interesting.”

Integral to Shakespeare’s original play is the idea of legacy and lineage. It’s the reason why, upon his return to Denmark, Hamlet is initially so quick to fall into line, accepting his Uncle Claudius as the new King and his own step-father (if only in public). He’s guided by an allegiance to his mother and the belief that this is what’s best for the country and the lineage. And it’s what, as Hamlet pursues the truth about his father’s death, motivates him to do so by any means necessary, following the notion that he’s avenging, but also preserving, his father’s legacy through justice.

It felt like there was some conversation between modern South Asian existence and this ancient text, which was really interesting.

director Aneil Karia

In Ahmed’s 2025 adaptation, the stakes — and reasoning — remains the same, but is emboldened by the shift to a South Asian community, in which duty to one’s family remains a strong tenet that carries with it generational expectations and weight. Not to mention the emphasis on respect and deference to one’s elders. We see this from the moment the movie opens when Hamlet, taking part in traditional funeral rites for his father, openly looks to his Uncle Claudius (played by Art Malik) for guidance on what to do.

In the world of Ahmed’s Hamlet, as within the diasporic community both on-screen and in real life, living up to familial expectations is of the utmost importance. And viewers watch Ahmed navigate that push and pull between duty and desire on-screen as he navigates first his grief, then his torment, and finally his rage.

This rage, ignited when Hamlet is visited by the ghost of his father, who reveals he was murdered by Hamlet’s Uncle Claudius, is what changes the course of the play and the trajectory of Hamlet’s life. While the original play presents Hamlet as slowly going mad, with his visions of his father framed as ghostly hallucinations, the contemporary take leaves more room for interpretation. Instead, and minor spoilers ahead, it leans into the idea of spirituality, a large part of many South Asian communities and identity.

While this spirituality is inherent within the culture presented onscreen, seen through rituals and ceremonies, Hamlet is also faced with symbols of Hindu deities, one in a particularly pivotal moment, causing internal reflection. By introducing these deities and the idea of spirituality in this way, Hamlet’s beliefs aren’t represented as delusions, but are instead rooted in something real — or at least believable: Faith.  Meaning that when Hamlet does finally reach his breaking point, in a pivotal and incredibly public moment (one in which Ahmed, who frantically fluctuates between devastatingly desperate and comically unhinged, shines), audiences are presented not necessarily with a man who’s gone mad, but one who is valid in his feelings of grief — making his eventual end all the more devastating.

While the outcome of Karia and Ahmed’s Hamlet remains the same as the play, the way in which we view the titular character and his actions has changed. And that feels like a very 2025 update.

Louis Tomlinson “got a really good feeling” about his next album

Louis Tomlinson is teasing his next solo album, saying he’s “got a really, really good feeling” about the project.

The soloist and former One Direction member released his second and latest full-length effort, ‘Faith In The Future’, in 2022.

Taking to X/Twitter today (September 10), Tomlinson shared an update with fans about his upcoming third LP.

“Just sat listening to the new record and I’ve got a really, really good feeling this time round!” he wrote. “Can’t wait for you all to hear it!!”

Later, the star hinted that he was “going to play something new” at this year’s edition of his Away From Home indie festival in New York next month. When a fan asked if this would be “only one new song”, Tomlinson replied: “That wouldn’t be fair would it.”

The singer told his followers last week that it was “about time” he played some new material on stage. He said he was “really excited about” his Away From Home ’25 slot, adding: “Got a few surprises. Should be fun.”

Fans have also been speculating over Tomlinson posting numerous question marks on social media, and whether this is a clue about his next era. Check out a selection of posts below.

According to Music-News.COM, Tomlinson previously described his forthcoming new tracks as “sunny” with some “chaos” when asked by a fan what to expect.

When performing at the Lodz Summer Festival in July, he reportedly revealed that he’d “actually finished the next record”.

Tomlinson’s Away From Home Festival 2025 takes place at the Brewery Ommegang in New York on October 4 and 5. Other performers include Lauv, Steve Aoki, Pale Waves and Circa Waves.

Following on from his 2020 debut, ‘Walls’, Tomlinson’s second album was produced by Mike Crossey, who has worked with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The 1975 and Wolf Alice. The singer co-wrote the record alongside The Music frontman Rob Harvey, and the songwriting and production team Red Triangle.

During an interview with NME in 2022, the singer said he was “definitely” more comfortable with who he was as an artist compared to when he first went solo.

“That has been a process and I think it’ll be an ever-evolving process as well,” Tomlinson explained. “But I definitely feel really comfortable about just following my heart musically and seeing where it gets me.”

You can revisit NME‘s video interview with Tomlinson above.

Over the summer, the singer hit out at online “conspiracy chat” about his personal life. “It’s just too much and too hurtful for me to see!” he wrote on social media.

In 2023, Tomlinson admitted that he felt some “envy” when his former One Direction bandmate Harry Styles first started becoming successful as a soloist.

Dwayne Johnson on Smashing Machine, Feeling ‘Pigeonholed’ by Hollywood

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

Dwayne Johnson takes on his most dramatic role yet in Benny Safdie’s “The Smashing Machine,” playing UFC champion Mark Kerr. At the film’s Venice Film Festival press conference, the action star revealed that he’s been wanting to expand his repertoire for a while now.

“I have, for a long time, wanted this,” Johnson said, sitting alongside director Safdie and co-star Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr’s girlfriend Dawn. “The three of us have talked for a very long time about, when you’re in Hollywood — as we all know, it had become about box office. And you chase the box office, and the box office can be very loud and it can become very resounding and it can push you into a category and a corner. This is your lane and this is what you do and this is what Hollywood wants you to do.”

Johnson, who is best known for blockbusters like “Jumanji,” ‘Black Adam” and “Fast and Furious,” said he’s loved making those movies and “they were fun and some were really good and did well, and some not so good.” But he wanted something more.

“I just had this burning desire and voice that was saying, ‘What if there is more and what if I can?’ Sometimes it’s hard for us to know what we’re capable of when we’ve been pigeonholed into something,” he said. I”t’s harder to know what you’re capable of, and sometimes it takes people that you know and love, like Emily and Benny, to say that you can. I looked around a few years ago and I started to think, you know, am I living my dream or am I living other people’s dreams? You come to that recognition and I think you can either fall in line or go, I want to live my dreams now and do what I wanna do … I’ve been scared to go deep and intense and raw until now, until I had this opportunity.”

“The Smashing Machine” chronicles Kerr’s triumphs in the ring, as well as his addiction to painkillers and tumultuous relationship with then-wife Dawn Staples (Blunt). Johnson is nearly unrecognizable in the film, undergoing pounds of prosthetics to portray the hulking two-time UFC Heavyweight champ.

“The Smashing Machine” marks the solo feature directorial debut of Benny Safdie, who worked with his older brother, Josh, on indie favorites like “Uncut Gems” and “Good Time.”
