Tampa Driver Leaves Four Dead After Fatal Crash

by jummy84 November 9, 2025
written by jummy84

Tampa’s nightlife was shattered in the early hours of Saturday morning after a devastating crash left four people dead and more than a dozen others injured. The scene unfolded in the city’s historic Ybor City district — a place usually buzzing with music, laughter, and late-night crowds. But this time, the flashing lights belonged to emergency vehicles, not the clubs. And at the center of it all? 22-year-old Silas Sampson, a name now tied to one of the city’s most heartbreaking nights in recent memory.

High-Speed Chase Ends In Tampa Tragedy

According to police, the chaos began when officers spotted a silver sedan speeding recklessly on a freeway just after midnight. The car, allegedly driven by Silas Sampson, had been seen street racing in another neighborhood moments earlier. When law enforcement attempted a precision maneuver to stop the vehicle — known as a PIT — the driver sped away, setting off a high-speed pursuit that led straight into Tampa’s beloved Ybor City.

Night Of Fun Turns Into Unthinkable Horror

Moments later, tragedy struck. Witnesses say the car barreled into a crowded bar area, plowing through more than a dozen people enjoying a night out. Three victims died instantly, and a fourth passed away after being rushed to the hospital. Eleven others were left injured, with at least one person is reportedly in critical condition. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw called the incident a “senseless tragedy,” expressing deep sympathy for the victims and their families.

“Just came here to have a nice cigar and relax a little bit with some friends and was on my way home. Got a little hungry, wanted to get a slice of pizza — went over to New York, New York. After I did it, turned around, and here comes the car,” Howard Hopkins, a witness, revealed. “Jumps the curb, hits the corner of the building, then comes into Bradley’s patio and just runs right through people… tables went everywhere, chairs went everywhere, bodies went everywhere — it was pretty bad.”

Community Mourns As Sampson Faces Serious Charges

Silas Sampson was taken into custody and booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. Court records reveal he faces multiple first-degree felony charges — including four counts of vehicular homicide and four counts of aggravated fleeing or eluding with serious bodily injury or death. As of now, no attorney has been listed for him.

The community is left reeling, with many in disbelief that a night meant for fun and celebration could turn into such horror. Flowers and candles now line the sidewalks where laughter once filled the air, as Tampa mourns the lives lost — and grapples with the actions of one man whose decisions changed everything in a matter of seconds.

Emmerdale confirms aftermath of April’s fatal act as Celia tightens grip

by jummy84 October 31, 2025

This article contains references to child sexual exploitation that some readers may find distressing.

April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) has become further entwined in Celia Daniels’s (Jaye Griffiths) sickening county lines plot in Emmerdale.

In yesterday’s episode, she was sent out to meet yet another ‘client’, who had paid Celia and her son Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) a sum of cash in exchange for sex with the 16-year-old.

April voiced her worries to the paedophile Callum (Max Lohan), who seemed to take a sympathetic approach towards her. He reassured her that she could leave at any time, but as he’d booked her for the whole night he wanted to get what he paid for.

Amelia killed a client in yesterday’s episode. ITV

She was horrified, and after some drinks, decided against sleeping with him. But Callum wouldn’t take no for an answer and launched himself towards her. In a panic, April grabbed a bottle of vodka and whacked it across his head, killing him instantly.

In today’s instalment she feared for her future and had nobody she could contact for help. Boyfriend Dylan Penders (Fred Kettle) has seemingly disappeared after a run-in with Ray, and there was no way she could explain the situation to dad Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) or grandfather Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw).

With nowhere left to turn, she summoned Celia and Ray. She was on a date with Bob and made her excuses to attend a ‘farm emergency’.

April explained that she had no choice to attack him, and Celia was furious that she’d caused yet another issue with a client. The youngster begged her groomers for help, and Ray headed off to deal with the grizzly crime scene.

Callum was very much dead – still lay lifeless on the bed. Ray ordered someone to come to his house and get rid of his body, while Celia instructed April to take her clothes off so they could get rid of the evidence.

Celia warned that she would hurt Bob, Marlon and Dylan ITV

There was no way this was coming back onto her – and as a result, April was off the hook. Ray made it clear that should she think about telling the police, he’d be first to dob her in.

Later, after the mess was ‘cleared up’, Celia told April that her debt still hadn’t been paid off. If she thought about causing another issue, she’d play her version of ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’ with the three most important men in her life – Bob, Marlon and Dylan.

Her version? ‘Burn, Stab, Drown.’

Will April find the courage to come clean to Marlon in next week’s special episode?

Madi Diaz Leans Into the Anguish on ‘Fatal Optimist’ » PopMatters

by jummy84 October 14, 2025
written by jummy84

Songwriter Madi Diaz’s third record and final entry in what may be considered her heartache trilogy is a piece she considers her rawest yet. Fatal Optimist comes in the wake of a serious relationship ending. Diaz purposefully spent more time alone, sitting with the heartbreak, allowing for a more stripped-back approach and confessional tone to emerge in her music.

Getting the album just right was more of a process than it initially appeared. The original recording didn’t mirror Diaz’s experience, so she scrapped those sessions and reworked the material with co-producer Gabe Wax (Soccer Mommy, Zach Bryan) and a few studio musicians. The decision was bold but has mostly paid off. While the overall impact of Diaz’s collection of songs can be exhausting, Fatal Optimist also allows her to lean into what she does best: laying bare her heart and making striking yet subtle observations that linger well after the notes end.

If it seems like Diaz is always experiencing heartbreak, she is well aware of the optics; however, this time around felt different, as this person could have been the one. Listeners are invited to experience the push and pull of the relationship, one that took all of her energy, even after it ended. She experiences a myriad of feelings, from longing (“Time Difference”) to despondency (“Why’d You Have to Bring Me Flowers?”) to resignation (“Lone Wolf”). Subtle differences emerge until it feels like she is recounting the various stages of grief.

Diaz was in a vulnerable state when composing these compositions, but also forthcoming about her inner turmoil. There is a certain wisdom that comes from heartbreak. “Ambivalent” features Diaz with an acoustic guitar front and center. She sings “You’re a lover but you are not my friend / Here for the party but never the ending / A free fall, you’re just not the landing.” In “Feel Something”, she wishes she had never known his middle name. Occasionally, as on the beautiful “Heavy Metal”, she takes a long view, despite mainly being amazed at how she remains unbroken.

Her lyrics can be brutal, especially when it comes to her forthright take on sex. In “Feel Something”, she sings, “I used to think I needed to read your mind / I’m only gonna find what I’m gonna find and then we’ll fuck and then we’ll fight.” The song describes how she doesn’t feel anything but might if they hook up, a far cry from her previous standout “Think of Me”. She was once spiteful about her former lover sleeping with somebody new, but now surrenders to the occasional fling.

The tendency toward more candid confessions is perhaps what makes Madi Diaz stand out among her peers, as musically, she does little to separate herself from the ever-growing number of singer-songwriters with Nashville ties. The tracks skirt the edges of alternative country but can also lean into it, as on “Good Liar”. Not until the closing title track does Diaz infuse much energy. On that number, she proves how she is on the level of a musician like Lucy Dacus but has chosen to wallow in more melancholy moods.

Some musicians have made a career out of struggling in love. What makes Diaz different from an artist like, say, Maggie Rogers is her consistent tone throughout and willingness to lean into the anguish. Nobody is telling Diaz she can’t do something different, but this is also the artist we have come to appreciate. Despite—or maybe thanks to—her hopeless disposition and constant surrender, we find ourselves rooting for her. On the rare occasion, we get the sense that perhaps she does, too.

Kyren Lacy, Former LSU Wide Receiver, Didn’t Cause Fatal Crash, Prosecutors Say – Police Report Under Fire

The district attorney’s office in Lafourche Parish says the Louisiana State Police’s initial crash report had “several inconsistencies,” rejecting key claims about how the Dec. 2024 wreck unfolded.

In a damning assessment, the DA’s investigator wrote, “The report provided to this office by Louisiana State Police has several inconsistencies which were used to base their opinion and conclusion of the crash.” According to surveillance and crash-scene evidence, police alleged that Lacy was speeding and passed four vehicles in a no-passing zone before returning to his lane — and this maneuver, they argued, triggered a chain reaction that led to the fatal collision.

But prosecutors pushed back. The DA’s report found that when Lacy reentered his correct lane, he did so “well before the crash occurred.” And importantly, they argued that “the evidence submitted in the crash report does not support that Kyren Lacy should have known that his actions were the cause of the crash.”

That statement echoes the claims of Lacy’s defense attorney, Mathew Ory, who told local media: “[Kyren Lacy] had no idea he caused this accident because he didn’t think he caused the accident. He didn’t cause the accident.”

The timing is critical: Lacy died by suicide in April, just days before a grand jury could weigh the case. The police department, in turn, defended its findings, saying it “stands by the findings of its crash investigation,” citing “eyewitness accounts, video evidence, and physical evidence” as the foundation of its conclusions.

This clash between prosecutors and state police reframes the case. Instead of accepting the official narrative, the DA’s office is questioning whether Lacy’s alleged actions truly precipitated the deadly crash — and whether the initial investigation painted a fair picture of what really happened.

Album Review: Madi Diaz, ‘Fatal Optimist’

by jummy84 October 10, 2025
written by jummy84

Singer-songwriter’s new Fatal Optimist scales back her sound, but not her devastating emotional honesty

Madi Diaz has a talent for brief, yet devastating observations: “Looking at who you are and what I can live with/I can imagine myself as a picture of something different,” she whisper-chokes on “Hope Less,” the situationship-rationalizing opening track to her seventh album. The lyric’s power is heightened by the arrangement surrounding it — just Diaz and her acoustic guitar, in a room so silent its settling is nearly audible. The same goes for much of Fatal Optimist, which largely eschews the more robust instrumentation of 2024’s Weird Faith in favor of stripped-down recordings that thrust her lyrics to the forefront.

Trending Stories

Diaz, a songwriter’s songwriter who has spent time in Harry Styles’ backing band, began working on Fatal Optimist after a post-breakup seclusion on an island, where she immersed herself in writing about the frustrations she’d experienced. That extended catharsis led to acceptance, a journey mirrored by the album’s progression. “Feel Something” seethes with exasperation over a relationship locked in an increasingly anhedonic cycle, Diaz wishing she was “someone who doesn’t know your middle name” as an electric guitar that’s blown out like a bruise shimmers around her. Diaz has a rounded, plainly emotional alto that adds pathos to the more downtrodden lyrics — like those on “Flirting,” a morning-after breakdown of a rupture in trust with a spare voice-and-piano arrangement that has the weight of knowingly receiving the silent treatment. “Heavy Metal,” meanwhile, is a stunner, Diaz unpacking the ways her resilience and her hardness meld together with growing intensity until the song’s end, when she repeats the word “heavy” enough times to make it fold in on itself.

On the closing title track, light begins to filter in even as Diaz keeps her emotions close. She tempers the thrill of meeting somebody with whom spending time “might be hot, and it might be fun” with her “fatal optimist” tendencies of seeing where things could end, and for the first time, a full band comes in to help propel Diaz along the path to openness. Even though she’s wary — “I hate being right,” she sing-songs, repeating it enough times for it to feel like a mantra — she’s letting her doubts fall, and letting the world become just a bit more filled-in. The arc of Fatal Optimist and Diaz’s perceptive, insistent songwriting make that movement, even with its hesitation, feel like a victory.

Lawyer Challenges Fault In Fatal Crash With Footage

by jummy84 October 4, 2025
written by jummy84

New details have emerged about former LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy. The football player was previously arrested in January after being accused of causing a crash that killed 78-year-old Herman Hall. Lacy later tragically passed away in April after a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Now, his attorney is speaking out and sharing footage to prove Lacy didn’t cause the fatal accident that led to his arrest.

New Footage Surfaces as Kyren Lacy’s Attorney Challenges Crash Allegations

Lacy’s attorney Matt Ory spoke to HTV 10 News In Louisiana nearly a year after the fatal incident, per Sports Illustrated. Ory compared the district attorney’s findings with the original surveillance footage and argued that Lacy didn’t cause the crash. He said the data and video showed that “Kyren Lacy passed four cars.”

“At the time of impact he’s 72.6 yards behind the vehicles at the time of impact,” Matt Ory said. “Key word behind the vehicles. That is not how this story was ever painted.

Here’s What Happened During The Fatal January Car Crash

As TSR previously reported, police issued a warrant for Kyren Lacy in January, according to ESPN. They accused the 2025 NFL draft pick of fleeing the scene without helping following a head-on collision in Thibodaux, Louisiana that killed Herman Hall. On December 17, Lacy reportedly drove a 2023 Dodge Charger at high speed on a Louisiana highway. ESPN noted that a 2017 Kia Cadenza trailed a pickup truck and swerved to avoid Lacy, who crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound vehicle. Hall later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities also claimed Lacy allegedly drove away without reporting the crash. At the time, police charged him with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving.

Details On Kyren Lacy’s Tragic Passing

Three months after facing allegations tied to the car crash, Kyren Lacy passed away in April. The 24-year-old NFL draft pick was found deceased in Houston on April 13. TMZ reported that he died from a self-inflicted firearm wound following a police chase. Authorities said a woman told 911 that Lacy got into a verbal argument with her and fired a gun into the ground before leaving the scene. Police tried to pull him over, but Lacy reportedly drove off, prompting a pursuit that ended when he crashed his vehicle. Officers later found him inside the car with a gunshot wound and discovered a firearm nearby.

“All they want is to be who they are, yet the world is determined go there and destroy them!” Yep! She’s right. Vertical has unveiled their official trailer for a movie titled Last Days, the first non-Fast & Furious movie directed by filmmaker Justin Lin in a while. The film premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and will be out to watch coming soon this fall. The film tells the story of John Allen Chau, an idealistic missionary wanting to make contact with the “Sentinelese“, an isolated tribe living on North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean. It’s the same story told in the doc film The Mission, which everyone is familiar with because he was killed by this island tribe at the shore. A 26-year-old missionary journeys to the remote North Sentinel Island, determined to convert an isolated tribe, while the authorities attempt to intervene before potential harm occurs. Starring Sky Yang as John Allen Chau, with Radhika Apte, Ken Leung, Naveen Andrews, Toby Wallace, and Ciara Bravo. This movie looks like it glorifies this kid way too much, when in reality, he was just a dangerous idiot who had no valid reason to go there. Oh well…

Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Justin Lin’s film Last Days, direct from Vertical’s YouTube:

The screenplay is written by Ben Ripley. Based on the true story of John Allen Chau; inspired by the article “The Last Days of John Allen Chau” written by Alex Perry. It’s produced by Salvador Gatdula, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Justin Lin, Eric Ian Robinson, Andrew Schneider, and Clayton Townsend. A victim lost their life, and two others sustained injuries, in a stabbing that took place outside Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va., during Phish‘s performance at the venue Friday night (Sept. 19).

Officers responded to an altercation that had escalated into violence on Coliseum Drive just after 9:30 p.m. ET, according to a police report from the Hampton Police Division. The suspect fled, but detectives “identified all parties involved” and determined it “appears to be an isolated incident,” says the report published on Saturday.

“Members from the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and rendered medical assistance,” Cpl. Shaun Stalnaker writes. “The first victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was also transported and is currently receiving medical treatment. A third adult male victim later arrived at a local hospital as a walk-in, also suffering from a laceration determined to be non-life-threatening.”

Phish addressed the tragedy on Saturday in a statement the band posted on social media.

“During last night’s show, a tragic incident took place in the parking lot outside Hampton Coliseum. There was an altercation behind one of the tents in the unofficial vending area in which someone lost their life and two other people were injured. We don’t have more information than what has been reported by the police, who called it an isolated incident, but what we do know is upsetting enough. We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected,” the band said.

Phish’s Saturday and Sunday night concerts in Hampton, which wrap their summer tour, were set to go on as scheduled. Lead singer/guitarist Trey Anastasio’s solo band has gigs slated for this fall before Phish takes the stage together again for their traditional run of New Year’s Eve shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, where they’ve booked a four-show series spanning the dates of Dec. 28-31.

The Hampton Police Division’s Major Crimes Unit can be contacted with additional information surrounding Friday night’s incident by phone (757–727–6111 or 1–888-LOCK-U-UP), or through anonymous tip via a secure form at P3Tips.com.
