James Gunn, Stars on That Rick Reveal, What It Means for Harcourt (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 5, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 3, “Another Rick Up My Sleeve.”]

Peacemaker delivers a massive twist in Season 2’s third installment, “Another Rick Up My Sleeve,” as Joel Kinnaman reprises his role as Rick Flag Jr. in two forms, one the version fans met in The Suicide Squad and the other the “jarhead” hinted at in Peacemaker‘s alternate dimension.

While the episode opens with a flashback scene revealing that Rick Jr. and Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) were having an affair, it goes on to reveal that alternate dimension Harcourt is also involved with the Rick from her universe amid Christopher Smith’s (John Cena) attempt to woo her when he wakes up in that world at the start of this episode following his boozy night with the 11th Street Kids.

The revelation of Harcourt’s bond with Rick Jr. explains a lot when it comes to her initial hatred towards Peacemaker in Season 1; after all, Chris killed Rick Jr. during their mission in Corto Maltese. When it came to Kinnaman’s return and incorporation into this storyline, series creator and DC Comics co-head James Gunn tells TV Insider that was part of the plan “since before we shot Season 1, that Harcourt and Rick Flag had had an affair and were having an affair when he got killed… but beyond that they were also friends, and Economos is friends with him too.”

“That’s the reason they’re so negative towards Peacemaker when he comes on board at the beginning,” Gunn explains, “even though morally, obviously, Harcourt is as fluid as Peacemaker is throughout Season 1.”

As for having Kinnaman step into the alternate dimension as “jarhead” Rick Flag, Gunn was excited to allow the actor to have some more comedic moments as he nervously tiptoes around Chris. “Joel and I are good friends, so I asked him to do me a favor, but I also wanted to give him an opportunity to do something that’s purely comedic, because he’s a really funny guy,” Gunn explains.

“He’s never been in a comedy his entire life, so being able to show him doing this sort of namby-pamby version of Rick Flag Jr. … every time I watch those scenes, I laugh out loud,” Gunn admits.

While the alternate dimension allowed for a Peacemaker-Rick reunion of sorts, it also opened Chris’s eyes to the reality of this new world, in which Harcourt is less jagged around the edges and he’s a beloved hero. See what Holland has to say about embracing that other side of Harcourt in the alternate dimension, David Denman talk about donning Keith’s super suit, and Steve Agee talk about Economos’s reunion with Judomaster in the full video interview above.

written by jummy84

The Baldwins are going all in for Dancing With the Stars! Hilaria Baldwin has joined the cast for Season 34, and she’s going to have the support of her whole family as she dances in the ballroom with pro Gleb Savchenko.

Hilaria and husband Alec Baldwin have seven young kids, and they will all be heading to Los Angeles for the duration of Hilaria’s run on the show, the entrepreneur confirmed to TV Insider on the DWTS carpet after the Season 34 cast reveal.

“This has been a really fast, semi-like scary, but also really exciting,” Hilaria said. “It’s an adventure. It was like a last-minute thing, and I was like, ‘You know what? Let’s just do this. Let’s just go have fun and try something new and meet new people and dance a little bit.’”

The 30 Rock star has already been helping his wife prepare for the ballroom. “Alec has been teaching me dance, as you have seen on my TikToks, so he’s been keeping me practicing. And now, I’m sure he’s happy that now it’s your [Gleb’s] problem,” she laughed.

After the cast announcement, Hilaria, Alec, and Gleb posted a hilarious video where Alec asked Gleb, “What does ‘Gleb’ mean in Russian?” The pro dancer replaced, “Dancing with your wife.”

Hilaria and Alec married on June 30, 2012. Over the last decade, they’ve welcomed seven children: Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, María Lucía, and Ilaria. The couple recently let cameras inside their family life for the TLC series The Baldwins.

Noah Hawley Breaks Down Morrow’s Mission, ‘Alien’ Parallels, and More (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 3, 2025
written by jummy84

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Alien: Earth, Season 1 Episode 5, “In Space, No One…”]

Alien: Earth took us back in time (and into space) mere days before the USCSS Maginot’s intended arrival date on the planet in the show’s riveting fifth installment, “In Space, No One…” which pays homage, not just in title, to Ridley Scott‘s 1979 film that started it all.

Written and directed by series creator Noah Hawley, Alien: Earth‘s latest episode tracks the events that led to the crash-landing of the USCSS Magino, as seen in the premiere episode, through Morrow’s (Babou Ceesay) eyes. As a security officer, the cyborg is alerted to a death aboard the ship caused by a breach in the containment of the species they’re transporting.

But as the events play out, Morrow realizes that sabotage is at play, and he begins to look at everyone suspiciously, including interim captain Zaveri (Richa Moorjani), who steps up after the ship’s captain dies. Still, the cyborg maintains his control and calm, even eliciting a curious comment from crewmate Rahim (Amir Boutros), who wonders how the cyborg doesn’t break a sweat despite the stress.

Realizing that navigation has also been lost, meaning the only potential outcome is a crash-landing, Morrow seeks answers and discovers a crew member has been tasked by Prodigy, Boy Kavalier’s (Samuel Blenkin) corp, to commandeer the ship and cargo. In other words, the seemingly random crash-landing had been orchestrated all along by the barefoot billionaire.

Patrick Brown / FX

And as Morrow roots out the sabatour, the creatures aboard are running amok, reducing the crew count drastically. When Morrow devises a plan to meet at the bridge, he decides that to preserve the cargo and deliver it to Weyland-Yutani, only he is needed to survive, and so he welds the door shut, leaving Zaveri to be massacred by the Xenomorph.

As he works to square away his tasks before closing himself in the emergency landing space, the calm and cool Morrow finally breaks a sweat. Is it due to the pressure of a 65-year-long mission during which he tragically lost his daughter? Hawley answers that question and many more, including which new species should scare viewers the most, in the Q&A below.

This episode pays homage to the story told in 1979’s Alien, but this time around, Morrow is at the center of it all. What made you want to reimagine this story, and what is driving Morrow to complete this mission?

Noah Hawley: I love the reversals for an audience in whom you’re rooting for, and who you’re rooting against. And I think those are some of the most meaningful moments as a viewer because it really is an active process that you go through. I remember in Season 2 of Fargo, Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst, and they’re up against this Gerhardt family, and you think, “Well, I don’t care who they send, I’m rooting for Jesse and Kirsten.” And then they send the kid with cerebral palsy who wants to prove he’s a man. And the audience goes, “Well, hold on. I don’t want anything bad to happen to him.”

I think we’re trained to root for violence as a solution to a problem, and I always want the audience to have to wrestle with it a little bit and to look and to go, well, look at Morrow’s side of it. I mean, he has this mission he’s been tasked with, and he lost his ship. It was boarded, and they’ve stolen from him, and he’s the protagonist in his story, and his ethics are not our ethics, necessarily, but he’s not wrong on some level. When he says to Slightly, “If you took something from me, how is it wrong for me to take it back?”

Amir Boutrous in 'Alien: Earth'

Patrick Brown / FX

The biggest reveal in this episode is that Prodigy had infiltrated Weyland-Yutani’s USCSS Maginot with the intent to sabotage their mission. Does Morrow’s drive to go after Prodigy and Kavalier stem from wanting to give purpose to the time he lost with his daughter?

No, I think he articulates it in the third hour when he says, “I’ve been gone 65 years, this is my life’s work, and if I’ve lost this, then what was the point of those last 65 years?” And clearly, he made some choices. He sealed the door so that [Zaveri] couldn’t get in. I mean, he made these choices that are meaningful if you actually get the ends that justify the means. But if you don’t, then you just have the stuff that you did, and you have nothing to show for it.

This mostly contained episode builds up to an outcome we already knew. How did you approach that as a director and writer of the installment?

Well, you have to invest in all those people and think about how hard that is, to introduce this crew in 51 minutes, distinct and specific individuals whom you have feelings about. And then we’re also introducing and solving a sabotage mystery, and we’re playing out all these creature stories. So, on some level, why I wanted to do it was my mission overall was to try to turn Alien into something new. But if someone was going to get to also do classic Alien, I wanted that to be me. Right? I wanted to go, “I see what you did, Sir Ridley, and I see what you did, Mr. Cameron and Mr. Fincher, and here I am. Here’s my best effort at it.”

What’s interesting is that Morrow is technically in Ripley’s (Sigourney Weaver) shoes in this scenario, but he keeps his cool to the point that the crew questions why he isn’t sweating… until he is.

Then there’s that moment when Clem (Tom Moya) runs up and says something big, and you see for the first time Morrow doesn’t know what to do, everything is out of control. And that moment is everything to me. And Babou played it so brilliantly, but then he takes charge. There’s a moment she obviously can’t recover from that moment for herself, but he does, and that’s why he survives.

Richa Moorjani in 'Alien: Earth'

Patrick Brown / FX

In that final sequence aboard the USCSS Maginot, Morrow does begin to sweat. Is that a result of several different factors or merely the encroaching Xenomorph?

It’s a level of complexity. We all face it, right? You’re trying to get dinner on the table, there’s a flood in the bathroom, the cat’s throwing up in the other room. There’s a certain moment where you’re just like, I literally don’t know what to do right now. I don’t know which fire to put out. I don’t know what to do. Obviously, the stakes here are a lot higher, but I do think we all reach a moment where it’s just one thing too many, and he’s literally been carrying this crew; their priorities are weird, he’s got a drug addict for a doctor, it’s the island of misfit toys that’s on this ship. He’s been like, I’m going to get us through, and then at a certain point, he realizes I can get me through, I can’t get anybody else through, especially if they’re not going to help.

Babou Ceesay’s real-life daughter plays Morrow’s daughter in this episode’s flashback, and your son appeared alongside you earlier this season. What was it like incorporating real family members into the series, and how did that lend itself to more authentic moments onscreen?

It’s only fair for him to get his kid onscreen, too. This is how I make things. I make things by hand and to the point of yeah, I record music for the show and my son asked if there was something for him, and I thought, well yeah, I can put him in, but he’s not one of the lost boys, so he could be the young Hermit, but I’m not going to write scenes for it. I was planning to shoot this flashback piece, and so I’d need a father and a mother, and I thought, there’s just going to be day players, and the best way to get any kind of performance out of him is to just get down on the floor and do it with him. And it was really meaningful for me personally, because, of course, that was two years ago. The difference between a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old is… he’s a different kid now, right?

And so for Babou, in that moment, I thought, we’ve all come all this way. He’s moved his family across the earth. Why wouldn’t I give him that lifelong memory and connection with his own child? That’s immortalized on film. I think that too often we look at these shows as some calculated act written by a cash register or something, but this is five years of my life. This is a very personal document for me,

We’ve known the Xenomorph for years, but you’ve introduced several new species into the Alien world with this series. Is there one we should be most terrified of?

Well, I think people are rightly focusing on the eye simply because it clearly has a larger agenda. And as you see, as the season goes on, this may not just be a parasite or a predator. This may be a rival. And I think that’s really interesting.

Jessica Sanchez Interview on Pregnancy, ‘American Idol,’ and More (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Nineteen years after she was a contestant on Season 10 of America’s Got Talent at just 10 years old, Jessica Sanchez is back for Season 20. The singer, who was also the runner-up on American Idol in 2012, received Sofia Vergara‘s Golden Buzzer during her audition and will hit the stage again for the Quarterfinals during the Tuesday, September 2, episode.

Just days after she auditioned for the show earlier this year, Jessica found out she was pregnant with her first child (she married husband Ricky Gallardo in 2021). However, the news didn’t stop her from wanting to continue the process, even though she’s now several months along amid the live shows.

“This year, I just felt this immense peace, like, I’m ready to do this. I took the leap and I found out that I was pregnant a couple days later, but it didn’t really hinder me from wanting to take that next step back on that stage,” she tells TV Insider. “If anything, it kind of motivated me a little bit because I’m like, now I get to do this with my daughter. It’s like a once-in-a-lifetime thing.”

Sanchez says preparing for the live shows has been “going great” and that she’s felt “peaceful,” not stressed. “Even preparing vocally, typically your breathing and stuff gets affected when you’re pregnant, but as far as I’ve been preparing, it hasn’t really been affected tremendously and I’m so thankful for that. … Even if my voice does get a little impacted from the pregnancy, I’m excited to challenge myself on that stage.”

Trae Patton/NBC

Scroll down for more from our interview with Sanchez, including a tease of her next performance, what she learned from American Idol, and more.

Why were you ready to return for this season after being on the show in the past?

Jessica Sanchez: Season 1 of AGT, that was the biggest stage that I had ever been on at that time. I feel like that really catapulted my dream to being a professional singer. I was like, “Oh wow, I feel like being on this stage is something I really want to do and maybe I can take this dream somewhere I never thought I could.” So I feel like AGT was a big thing for me and a big reason why I decided to pursue this music career. But with all the things that I did after, I had so many amazing opportunities, worked with so many amazing people, and hit some very big stages, but I feel like I was so young at that time, I didn’t really get to, one, digest it properly, and also, I feel like I was tugged back and forth of where people wanted me to be and who they wanted me to be.

I needed to take a step back from music. So I took that step back and I kind of just lived a normal life, which was different for me because music was really, like, my identity when I was younger. It felt like a low season, but I definitely needed that to be where I am today to be confident in myself, to know who I am, to know what I want. To come back 20 years later, back on the stage where it all started for me, I feel like I’m on cloud nine.

What have you taken from your experiences on AGT and Idol into this new journey on AGT?

It can be overwhelming for some people, but I really fell in love with that big stage and being able to use my gift to entertain people, to impact people, and just kind of navigating through how hard you have to work and the pressure of it all. I feel like it molded me as a young woman how to handle pressure throughout my life. I feel like I have thick skin. After AGT, dealing with people, feeling rejected, feeling like I wasn’t enough, it taught me how to handle all of those things. I was really young, so I did need to take a step back if I wanted to do this fully and full of purpose before I could come back and feel like I was fulfilling a purpose with my gift.

Have you kept in touch with any contestants from the past shows you’ve done?

It’s so funny because it’s not like I keep in contact where we’re hanging out all the time, but I do hear every now and then from these people, like older contestants and stuff like that. Actually, the winner from the first season, Bianca [Ryan], we follow each other on Instagram and we message each other every now and then just about life stuff, not even about music stuff, which is so cool. I love seeing that she’s killing it and she sees me doing my thing. I really love that no matter how much competition it feels like, you can still kind of detach and be like, wow, all of these amazing talents are coming in and you can share that love of the stage and stuff like that. So I kind of keep in contact with some people.

You were on a few episodes of Glee back in the day. Would you ever dabble in acting again?

I would love to. I’ve tried. I’ve put out audition tapes after doing the Glee stuff. But I’m so seasoned with singing, that is really where I shine. I feel like acting would be a fun thing to do, not really a professional, this is what I do full-time. I think it’d be really fun to start doing it, but singing is really what I’ve known from the beginning.

Anything you can tease about your Quarterfinals performance?

I don’t want to give away too much, but I feel like the first audition I really came in with a song that a lot of people did not expect me to sing and with this next song, it’s similar as in, like, a lot of people aren’t really going to expect the song. It was really fun for me to be creative with it and take it somewhere vocally where a lot of people think it wouldn’t go. I’m excited for that, that’s the only little tease I can give you.

Exclusive: Anurag Kashyap’s Nishaanchi Trailer to Release on THIS Date

by jummy84 September 2, 2025
written by jummy84

Anurag Kashyap is making a comeback to his original roots with the crime drama Nishaanchi, starring debutant Aaishvary Thackeray. The teaser, which was released some time back, created quite the buzz. Now, it is only a couple of days of wait for the release of the trailer. As per a source close to the project, the trailer will be unveiled this week.

“The trailer of Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film Nishaanchi will be unveiled on September 3. Starring Aaishvary Thackeray and Vedika Pinto, the film is touted to be a pure masala entertainer that will surprise audiences coming from Kashyap,” as per the source.

In the film, Aaishvary Thackeray plays a double role of twin brothers, Babloo and Dabloo, while Vedika Pinto plays Rinku. The story revolves around Babloo’s deep affection for Rinku, which is disrupted by Dabloo’s arrival. The Gangs of Wasseypur director expressed that creating Nishaanchi gave him a sense of returning to his cinematic roots, allowing him to reconnect with the raw, unfiltered style of storytelling that defined his early work. He also called it his ‘full-on-Salim-Javed zone of film’.

Anurag

Kashyap said, “Nishaanchi is my full-on Salim-Javed zone of film; it has the hero, the drama, and the payoff a film must deliver. I spent 69 days on it, and it’s my longest and most elaborate shoot yet. Initially, the title was Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangilee Rinku, and Dabloo — everyone said it was too long. The story of how Nishaanchi was coined and the film was finally named.”

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Siblings Derek and Julianne Hough on Growing Up Together on the Hit Series (Exclusive)

by jummy84 September 1, 2025
written by jummy84

With hundreds of episodes of Dancing With the Stars between them, siblings Derek and Julianne Hough quick-stepped their way into America’s hearts. We caught up with the Emmy-winning choreographers — Derek is now a judge and Julianne a cohost on the show — to chat about their favorite memories and what keeps them coming back to the ballroom.

What does 20 years of Dancing With the Stars mean to you?

Julianne Hough: I don’t know where to begin. The show has been in the homes of families year after year. There’s something so beautiful about the fact that people come on [the dance floor] being vulnerable and grow right in front of our eyes. We see it through rhinestones and fringe, but it’s really this transformational journey.

Derek Hough : It’s incredible to be a part of something that has had this excitement around it for 20 years. Every single thing I’ve experienced on this show has been life-changing. I’ve learned so many different lessons. I’ve grown up on this show.

Yeah, you definitely have!

Derek: I have facial hair now! When I started it [in 2007], I didn’t. I’m a full little man now, kind of. [Laughs]

Who’s gone through that growth process with you on the show that really stands out in your memory?

Julianne: [Olympic speed skater] Apolo Ohno, my first partner, had these big trunk legs, and to watch him figure out how to move his body in a new way and the dedication that he put into it…he transformed in front of our eyes. [Para-snowboarder] Amy Purdy [in Season 18] found this feminine side to her that she said she hadn’t felt since she lost her legs.

Derek: Amy was extraordinary. Dancing with [conservationist] Bindi Irwin [on Season 21] was really special.

Adam Taylor / Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images

Now Bindi’s younger brother Robert is coming on the show for Season 34.

Derek: I’m going to be so hard on Robert! I’m just kidding. [Laughs] It is really amazing to see the full-circle moment — dancing with Bindi 10 years ago, and here Robert is.

Did you two ever think you’d be working together like this?

Derek: No. Our parents actually said, “Hey, you should dance with your sister.” And I’m like, “No, no, you’re defeating the whole purpose of why I started to dance!” I wanted to dance with girls.

Julianne: I am a girl.

Derek: Well, you know what I’m saying. But it’s actually amazing to see our careers have run on these beautiful parallel lines.

Julianne: That pathway of being a dancer and then a judge — it’s kind of crazy.

Derek: Let’s be honest, Julianne was first on Dancing With the Stars.

Julianne: Did you just give me credit?

Derek: I did! [Aside] But she only won twice.

Is there a childhood dynamic that still kicks in when you’re together?

Julianne: Clearly, there’s sibling rivalry. We’re just really playful with each other.

Derek: We’re just goofs.

Julianne: What I love is that every week we’re in different areas on set, but we get our little moments where we get to hang out in the commercial breaks. It’s cool.

Do you have a dream celebrity cast member?

Julianne: Keke Palmer would be so fun to have on, because her personality is so big and she’s so authentic. Kelly Ripa would be amazing. Chris Hemsworth should come back since he did the Australian version and placed sixth. But there’s nothing like the American version.

Derek, you’ve won the Mirrorball trophy six times! How did you celebrate?

Derek: The initial moment was just unbelievable. Weirdly enough, [as a pro] the celebration was short-lived. The next day is like, “All right, got to think about the next season.” But now, I get to look back at those moments with Bindi or Nicole Scherzinger or Jennifer Grey and celebrate.

What’s your favorite role on the show — dancer, judge, or host?

Julianne: They all come with something different. As a dancer, you’re competing, and as a judge, you want to give your expertise to help [the contestants] grow. As a host, my job is to [make sure] everyone else feels like they have the space to shine and connect with the audience.

Derek: The hardest part about being a judge is that you’ve got 15 seconds to say something, whereas as a dancer, you have several hours to work and nitpick at things. But I love being in that room. When you walk into the ballroom, it is really sacred ground. The stories that have unfolded, the triumphs, the failures, the heartbreaks. There’s so much that has happened in that room, and every time I walk in there, every season, it’s a brand-new feeling.

Jennifer Affleck Talks Season 34, Competing Postpartum, More (Exclusive)

by jummy84 August 31, 2025
written by jummy84

Jennifer Affleck gave birth to her third child at the beginning of July. Less than two months later, she’s begun training for Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars. When the show premieres on September 16, she’ll be just 11 weeks postpartum.

But The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star is embracing the challenge and said she had “no” hesitation when asked to be on the show. “I am looking forward to the challenge and helping inspire other women [with] what our bodies are capable of,” Affleck tells TV Insider. “I ran a marathon a few weeks after our last baby, so I know my body can handle a lot. If anything, it will help me with postpartum depression and the baby blues. So I am grateful and looking forward to it.”

Affleck was one of the first four celebrities confirmed for the Season 34 cast ahead of the full reveal on September 3. She received the news that she’d been picked for the show during the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 2 reunion in June. Her costar Whitney Leavitt was also announced as a cast member.

“By nature, I’m not a very competitive person,” Affleck admits. “So I’m excited to have [Leavitt] there to push me and have a friend to go through the journey with when it gets hard. Hopefully we are the final two!”

Scroll down for more from our interview with Affleck, including how husband Zac Affleck will support her through this journey and more.

Why did you want to do the show and what is the extent of your dance experience?

Jennifer Affleck: Growing up, dancing was more than just a fun hobby for me. It was how I communicated, connected, and expressed myself. My mom is from Ecuador and immigrated to the United States at 27. She primarily speaks Spanish, so growing up, we weren’t able to communicate very well. We connected through our love of music and dance, and because of that, this opportunity means a lot, not just to me, but to my entire family.

It’s been my dream to do Dancing with the Stars to share more of who I am and where I come from. I don’t have any formal dance training, just a lot of practice on my countertop doing TikToks!

How do you plan on navigating having a newborn and all the training?

It will take a village. I have a nanny, assistant, and Zac helping out full-time. It won’t be easy, but I have an entire team behind me supporting me in this dream of mine.

What style of dance do you think will be your best and what are you most nervous about?

Best style will be any Latin style-based dance, since I grew up learning a lot of those at family parties. I’m not nervous for any, just really excited to learn them all and become a more well-rounded dancer. If anything, my partner should be nervous for all the TikTok dances I will be teaching them!

What qualities are you looking for in your dance partner?

Someone who wants to win the Mirrorball! Just kidding, sort of. But someone who is willing to be patient with me as I learn and willing to work really hard. Also someone family orientated that understands what it’s like to have a family and how important that is to me.

What side of yourself do you think viewers will get to see on the show that maybe they haven’t before?

On Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, I don’t think the audience has been able to see the real Jen yet. You have seen many different emotions from me, but I am excited for everyone to finally get to see the fun, energetic, goofy side of me. It’s what I consider the real me.

How will your family and MomTok friends support you during this journey?

Everyone is so excited. In fact, I think Zac and my mom might be even more excited than me. Everyone knows this has been a dream of mine. So I can wait to have family and friends come to my performances and cheer me on in the audience!
